Weed and feed for centipede grass is a herbicide and fertilizer combination product that is applied to lawns to kill weeds and provide nutrients to the grass. The active ingredient in most weed and feed products is a herbicide called 2,4-D, which is effective at killing many common lawn weeds.
The fertilizer component of weed and feed products is typically a high-nitrogen fertilizer that helps promote green, healthy growth in centipede grass.
Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 provides Nitrogen that releases slowly over time with extra iron and traces of other elements to make your lawn greener. If your grass is turning yellow that can be a sign of iron deficiency and Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 will help to correct that problem.
Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 provides lasting nourishment for your lawn making it green all through the Summer season. Use Ferti-Lome Centipede Lawn Fertilizer 15-0-15 just twice a year in the Spring and then apply again in the Fall.
SKU 14832565 – BioAdvanced 5 In 1 Weed & Feed was formulated with sustainability in mind. Kills over 200 listed broadleaf weeds including Dandelion, Clover and Crabgrass and keeps them from coming back.
Kills existing Crabgrass, plus prevents new Crabgrass from emerging. The stress of trying to perfectly time a Crabgrass preventer is a non-issue. Creates a protective barrier in your lawn that keeps new weeds and Crabgrass away for up to 6 months.
My house is in a new build subdivision and I have right at a half acre. Like most subdivisions the land is old pasture field and had tons of weeds. The builders only sod about 50 feet and the rest they lay seed and straw.
They did not treat the soil to my knowledge before laying sod. We closed in November of 2020 so the next spring our yard was basically a weed field. So we turned to tru green’ our first mistake. Their weed and feed is an awful mixture, it really did not work as they described and we just had a bad experience.
So fall of 2021 I decided to take care of the lawn myself. I bought the bio advanced weed and feed and laid the first application and by mid October our grass looked great. So this spring I have used it again and our grass is healthy and very few weeds.
I just pull them up if I notice them. I will apply two yearly from hear on out. It takes about 5 of the big bags to do the whole lawn. Takes care of crabgrass and dandelions, basically any standard pasture weed.
I will definitely recommend to anyone looking to stop using lawn care services that charge a fortune for low range results. Our grass is green and healthy and one of the best in the neighborhood.
We applied the product and watered it in gently for two days following application. At the time of application, the lawn was a bit stressed in areas due to sustained dry days with no watering. The lawn had several spots of crabgrass emerging and starting to grow rapidly.
There were some, but minimal weeds present. Within four weeks the lawn had greened up nicely and began to fill in the stressed spots. There was visible evidence the crabgrass was starting to struggle with its growth.
The weeds that were present were either gone or showed signs of struggling. At observation seven weeks after application the crabgrass had completely died off, weeds were not evident, the lawn had thickened up and was a beautiful green.
We are thoroughly satisfied with the benefits that this product had promised and has now delivered. The one negative feedback would be the odor. Following application, it was difficult to have windows open in the cottage, sit on the patio, or spend time in the yard for at least a week due to the strong odor of the product.
I am giving my review for the 5 in 1 weed and feed I received. I had to put it down a little late in the season because I had already put down a fertilizer prior to hearing about this. It seemed to kill all of the weeds except the ivy that I have.
I don’t blame the product as nothing seems to get rid of ivy so I didn’t expect it to. We had a bad drought this year and I do not have lawn sprinklers for watering. So I didn’t see much difference in how thick the grass got.
I suspect it is still in shock from the unusual summer we had. I also suspect that my soil may be acidic and in need of some lime which would have helped the fertilizer work better. Overall I think it would have worked better if I could have waited a couple more weeks before reviewing and was able to put it down earlier in the season.
I have had luck with Bayer products in the past and would still give this a shot next year. I think this year’s circumstances were unfair to the product. being tested. An update to this review: after a few more weeks my lawn looks nice and green, supporting my previous claim about it being in shock from the drought.
This product is a triple-action formula, providing a crabgrass preventer, lawn fertilizer and broadleaf weed kill in 1-single lawn application. Everything is rolled into 1 for the spring. In addition, the broadleaf weed control is effective on over 200 weeds as listed on the label.
Crabgrass is prevented and destroyed up to 4-weeks after germination, so you apply it when the dandelions bloom. This formulation also features both immediate release and controlled-released nutrients that provide continuous feeding for up to 12 weeks.
For use on established bahiagrass, bermudagrass, buffalograss, centipedegrass, fine fescues, Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall fescues, and zoysiagrass.
This GreenView Fairway Formula Spring Fertilizer with Crabgrass Preventer works great. It is a good quality lawn fertilizer. It made the lawn greener and thicker. My yard needed help and I have been impressed with how much and how quickly this has helped it.
I love that it has the crabgrass preventer in it, so I don’t have to use different products. It prevents crabgrass for 120 days, and provides slow release nitrogen for extended feeding up to 12 weeks.
It was very easy to use too. I would definitely recommend it.
This product worked really well on my weeds killing the dandelions and eliminating the patches of clover I had. I haven’t treated my lawn in a few years so the weeds were very noticeable. I put this product down on a wet lawn and watched it work.
The next day I could see that it was working on the weeds, not just the dandelions and clover, but the other stuff too. It rained two days after I applied the weed & feed and that’s when I really noticed my lawn start to green up also.
Overall, very happy with this product and will buy again for next year.
I received this product in exchange for a fair and honest review. I have to review this product but it’s to early for us to use. Were in Massachusetts and it’s been way too rainy to even get get outside to start spring cleaning unfortunately.
I can’t wait to use this though. I’m really looking forward to the crab grass control aspect of this fertilizer as it’s out of control in the summer months. This bag will cover all about 5000 square feet so we’ll likely need to find another few bags to ensure full coverage.
Up to 2X more powerful dandelion and clover control (vs. previous formula) Clears out dandelions and clover, guaranteed (See Scotts No-Quibble Guarantee on product label) WeedGrip Technology grips the weeds you see—and the ones you don’t Feeds to thicken lawns and crowd out weeds Do not use on St.
Augustinegrass, Floratam, dichondra, lippia, carpetgrass, or bentgrass lawns.
When I was 18 or 19 I lived in a house with a neglected lawn and for some reason decided to try this. Yard was full of clover, dandelions, and other weeds. Had large area bare spots of N. C. red clay around trees.
I put it down heavy just once and it killed off about every weed. Big patches of weeds became bare spots then the grass filled in and thickened, turned a nice darker green. Grass started spreading to the red dirt spots.
Neighbor across the road could tell a difference from her house a good distance back from the road away from ours and asked me “what did you do to your yard? It looks good”. I’d recommend putting it down a bit heavier than instructed if you have a serious weed problem as long as it won’t run into a creek or other water source.
Be ready to mow the yard because it will make your grass grow.
Have had good results with Scotts Crabgrass Preventer. Its finer texture seems to provide more even application compared to the larger granules in other brands. It claims to be “season-long” protection vs.
3-4 months as mentioned by some competitors. I just applied it a few days ago, so only time will tell if the current product works as well at preventing crabgrass as it has in the past for me. My frustration with the product solely lies with BJ’s.
I discovered that a special/reduced price on the website was only for online orders. In- store pricing was $5 higher. NO WHERE WAS THAT MENTIONED in the online posting. I had to place an online order, then return to do a store pickup.
GreenView Broadleaf Control Plus Lawn Food is long lasting. This weed and feed formulation feeds your lawn for 8 weeks and controls a wide range of lawn weeds including dandelion, clover and plantain.
It controls over 250 weeds commonly found in home lawns, as listed on the label. Slow release nitrogen in the formulation helps boost your lawn’s root development so it is better able to withstand the stresses of heat and drought in the months to come.
This is a 27-0-4 zero-phosphate formulation that also helps protect our waterways. Can be applied in spring or early fall.
I wouldn’t blame this product for the lack of progress it made on the lawn since dandelion are the hardest to get rid of. Since I bought my house no matter how frequent I mow the lawn they always return.
I was having high hopes but all this product did was wilt them a little that day and then sprung back the next day. It was suppose to be a weed killer plus grass feeder but somehow it kill some places and made dead brown patches in my lawn.
Maybe I’ll have to try light sprinkle the next time around and see it goes that time around.
This is a great product and I always start off Spring spreading weed and feed fertilizer for my lawn. I always have good luck using this product. Eliminate the weeds and add fertilizer for optimal growth.
It very easy to spread using my speed spreader. After I applied to my lawn I had a couple of days light rain that broke down the pellets quickly. Now I will sit back and get the mower ready to start mowing.
I sought this product out to de-weed my small yard, mostly from dandelions and also help feed the grass. I used as per the instructions and applied after a light rain about a month ago, so far there has not been any new weeds popping up, so that is a major plus and my grass is really coming in lush in areas that were lacking the nutrients it needed.
It has been raining a lot in my area so once the spring showers have moved on I will be reapplying and I’m pretty sure my weed problem will be fixed. Definitely glad I found this product.
This premium blended fertilizer is packed with essential plant nutrients to give you the thick, green lawn you desire. It has both fast acting nitrogen for quick greening, as well as slow release nitrogen for extended feeding for up to 3 months.
With 5% iron this fertilizer will give you a deep, dark green lawn.
I used this product exactly as directed, and now I have huge, brown patches in my once beautiful lawn. This product is too strong for regular lawns. I have used Weed and Feed for years, but usually another brand, and had excellent results.
Even the landscape specialist who saw what happened to my lawn and examined the granules said that the product is too strong and the chemicals destroyed my lawn – but, the weeds are doing quite well! Very disturbing to say the least.
Preen One Lawncare is all you need for weed control in lawns in one easy application. Kill broadleaf weeds and prevent crabgrass plus feed your lawn in one time-saving step. Eliminate lawn weeds and green your lawn at the same time. For use on established bahiagrass bermudagrass buffalograss fine fescues Kentucky bluegrass perennial ryegrass tall fescue and zoysiagrass.
This is a bit different of a process than I’m used to with my lawn care, the application timing is a lot later than previous treatments. I like to get a good start on lawn care so using this so much later made me a bit uneasy, applying it while the weeds are growing as directed doesn’t leave much wiggle room for adjustments if anything goes wrong- not impossible but not ideal or easy when your in ths thick of it.
I am definitely starting to notice how well the lawn likes the food, the weeds are less as well. I like the ease of application, once you get timing and conditions from mother nature its a breeze. The 3 in one benefits are nice and while it has improved my lawn, it doesn’t give me the full effects Id prefer given the price and amount product needed.
On top of time and energy still needed to put into seedig and the additional applications it isnt the best product for my needs. I received a free sample to review and since the area the bag covered did have results it’s not a dud- but not enough for me to buy more to adequately cover my entire lawn for the season.
I have been wanting something that kills the weeds but does not harm my grass, and I have finally found it thanks to Preen One! It kills the weeds and crabgrass, but also stops the seeds & seedlings! And those pesky dandelions, they will be gone too thanks to Preen One! Other weed killers I have used to not kill crabgrass, so I was so thankful to finally find a product that does! You can also use this on cool and warm season grasses which is pretty awesome! This is a 3-in-1 product that can be used in spring or fall and kills over 250 varieties of weeds! What more could you ask for? Truly works well & I will continue to use & recommend this awesome Preen One!.
Apply in early spring to obtain control of pre-emerged and post-emerged weeds in Centipede, Zoysia, and St. For best results, lawn should be moist prior to application. After application, water well.
Do not use on Bermuda Grass or any type of Northern grasses. Analysis: 15-0-4 plus Atrazine.
I tried this on a lark and boy was I surprised! It helped my yard become the envy of the neighborhood! Thick grass with very few weeds left (you can’t kill all the weeds). I put it on my lawn in the late spring and early fall and it has done wonderfully.
I’ll be ordering more in the spring again. Thanks Ace!.
I’ve been looking for a weed and feed for my St. Augustine grass that really works well. I wasn’t very optimistic for this product. When I used it my lawn did a complete turn around for the better! Deep green color, great root growth, lasts for three months and my lawn is the best in the neighborhood.
I bought a jug of Gordon’s Weed & Feed to try last fall. I have been using Scott’s fertilizer for several years but the last two years it seems to me that Scott’s has quit working like it use to and doesn’t touch killing the clover.
One treatment of the Gordon’s has made a world of difference to my lawn. I just put a spring treatment of Gordon’s on 3 days ago. Lawn is looking really well and getting thicker. I highly recommend the Gordon’s Weed & Feed 15-0-0.
I live in a neighborhood therefore I do have a small yard. Purchased a backpack sprayer because the handheld sprayers do not hold enough for a good application. I spray mid March and again mid to late April.
It works great on weeds and helps my lawn become thick and green. Definitely recommend to all my neighbors.
I was having trouble with sand burs and stickers in my lawn for several summers. I used a preemergent and Roundup before the season, but I wanted something to help kill them during the summer. I had been told that a thicker lawn would help.
I used Weed & Feed 2 times during the summer, and didn’t cut my lawn as short. I had very few problems with the stickers, and other weeds, this summer. Adding this product is the main thing I did different than in previous years.
I wish it was a higher concentration so the jug would last longer.

I have been using Jonathan Green products for a number of years now. As a lawn enthusiast I am extremely happy with the results that are produced. By simply following Jonathan Green instructions for the New American Lawn I get amazing results, results that receive comments from many neighbors, friends, etc.
I highly recommend anyone to try these products and see the results.

Highlights: This is a 3 in 1 product Pre and post emergent crabgrass control and broadleaf weed killer Feeds and greens up to 12 weeks Safe around waterways Specifications:
I love this product. Preen One has kept my lawn looking really green and free of dandelions. You can depend on it (if you follow directions) to keep lawn free from crabgrass. It takes care of it even if it germinates and starts growing.
I just put it down a few days ago and waiting for the clover to die. I still have to spot treat in areas I didn’t put it down due to it being too close to my vegetable garden. I will always use this product.
Already bought for next treatment in 2 to 3 months time.
Shame on me for not doing my homework and buying this product online for curbside pickup. I assumed the active ingredient would be pendimethalin like every other formulation of Preen I had purchased in the past.
Shame on Tractor Supply for not clearly stating the AI in the specs nor making the images clear enough to discern this info on the label when enlarged. Not what I wanted. :(.
I think my expectations were too high for this product. I was really hoping for jeans made of a comfortable fabric for an upcoming long flight. On TV they looked more jean-like, but in person they’re just heavyweight leggings with pockets.
They’re well made leggings, but the fit wasn’t great for me. I have long legs but an average length torso, so the inseam was a nice ankle length, but the waist came up to my ribcage. I’m also curvy, with large butt/thighs and smaller waist; unfortunately these are cut very straight with a large waist and small thighs.
The combination of the large waist and long rise made the top of the leggings slide down while the tight thighs kept the legs/crotch in place, creating a fabric bulge all the way around. These would be great leggings for ladies who carry their weight in the stomach/waist area and have thin legs – more of an apple or V shape.
Vigoro Weed and Feed treats over 250 weed types (as listed on the label) including dandelion, clover and other common lawn weeds. It contains a 28-0-3 fertilizer for quick and extended greening. The convenient 2,500 sq.
ft. bag can be used in any spreader. It can be applied in spring and fall, and covers 2,500 sq. ft.

Reviews From Real Customers
I see others panning the product because they didn’t see results in three days. I’m suspecting that you won’t because it’s especially formulated for St Augustine/Centipede grasses which I’m figuring are more delicate than others.
But I had a section of my yard that was being taken over by active (flowering) pusley. The pusley didn’t react immediately but after about a week it no longer was flowering and after two weeks, pretty much dead.
Works great for St. Augustine lawns. Easy to follow instructions and easy to use. I do recommend reading all of the precautions as this is a chemical mixture and can be harmful if the directions are not followed.
The spray covered a nice sized area of my lawn and it took no time to complete the coverage area. When done, it was easy to turn to the off position and remove the hose without worry of spilling.
PBI-Gordon Tankables Weed & FeedGordon’s Tankables: Proven performance in an easy-to-mix formulation! •Use on lawns and pastures for broadleaf weed control and green-up•One bottle makes 15 gallons and treats 15,000 sq.
ft. pastures or up to 20,000 sq. ft. lawns•No waiting between treatment and grazing when used alone, once sprays have dried•Perfect for pull-behind or ATV sprayers.
I found this on TSR’s website but had no prior experience with Gordon products. Following the mix instructions and applied a day and a half after mowing, temps in mid 70’s and a sunny day using a 15 gallon tank with boom sprayers treating about 2 acres.
In less than 24hrs I started to notice some the weeds already withering without damaging the “good” grass. At this time it has only been a week since application with a stretch of dry weather so I haven’t noticed a greening of the grass yet but with some rain in the forecast, I am looking forward to that result as well.
All in all I am pleased with the results so far and way less expensive than the popular granular products. My plan, weather permitting, is to apply another dose in a few weeks to knock off any remaining weeds and maybe one of Gordon’s fertilizer products somewhere in between.
Control the growth of weeds and moss in your lawn effectively with the Aftercut all-in-one lawn treatment. It is effective against 12 different types of weeds and after 7 days your grass will become greener.
It is ideal for over-seeding and repair, providing you with the fastest way to a thick, luscious and green lawn. The special coating will also protect the seed against stress and birds attack. For best results apply to the lawn early spring (April) and again in June or July.
Keep away from children and pets. Always read instructions before use.
Over 2 years of using this I turned a moss, clover and weed infested patch of basic scrubland into a lawn that had our neighbours asking how I’d done it. This was the answer. It’s the only product I use now.
Three application per year rake off the dead weeds and when the grass is green and lush again don’t cut too short. On lawns that just need a refresh it’s one treatment every 6 months and the results are very quick indeed.
Usually sceptical of products that say grass is greener and better after x amount of days. However, after just 5 days I cant believe the awesome change of the lawn. My mistake though was not doing it evenly so I have some really nice bits and some really yellow bits.
But, I’ve bought another box today and a spreader. It’s a great product and shall continue using this going forwards.
awesome all in one product, within 2 days all the moss had blackened 4 days and all the dandy’s had shrivelled. By the 10th day the grass had been invigorated and was looking fantastic. I didn’t even need to de-thatch first.
definitely recommend this product. big box, lots to go around, works great on small lawns and definitely worth every penny!.
Ace Lawn Fertilizer feeds your lawn in one easy step. This product builds strong, deep roots to protect from drought and heat, and provides controlled release feeding up to 8 weeks. Formulated for quick greening.
For optimal results, feed your lawn every 8 weeks when grass is actively growing.
Had minimal detectable effect [i. e. browning] after two weeks, and then only on fine spiral-bur clover. Had no detectable effect whatsoever on all other broad-leaf weeds like Dandelions. Just followed up today with spray on weed killer.
Over the years I’ve found most any brand of weed and feed nearly useless on lawn weeds in Central CA, valleys or coastline. You must fertilize, then spray for weeds separately to have any significant effect.
Comparing this to Scotts Turf builder: Ingredients are similar N/P/K is 29-0-4 compared to Turf builder’s 32-0-4 It costs a fair amount less As Scott’s says; their pellets are all in one. I can see that as a potential benefit as their fertilizer will be a 32-0-4 mix everywhere it is spread.
The Ace brand does have separate pellets, so if they are not evenly mixed, it will not be a 29-0-4 mix everywhere it is spread. BUT to my eye, it was evenly mixed. AND the pellets did not stick together like what happens with Scott’s fertilizers I have used.
Another reviewer complained that it did not work well with his Scott’s drop spreader. For my Scott’s hand held broadcast spreader, the fact that the pellets did not stick together made it work better than Scott’s fertilizers for my spreader.
Usually, I buy the Scotts 4 step program, but, this year I decided to try the ACE brand since it was cheaper. My Review isn’t really based on the effectiveness of the product as that is yet to be seen, but, more about the application.
I have a Scott Elite spreader that is 1 year old. The step 1/2/3 use 3. 5 for spreader settings. I didn’t change this when adding the ACE crabgrass and very little was coming out. The yellow crystals appear quite larger than Scotts.
The bag says to use setting 4, but, that was even low. I ended up bumping up to 4. 5 to get correct distribution. So word of caution is to increase your number if coming from Scotts.
Preen One Lawn Care Weed and Feed contains dimension and trimec, which kills over 250 broadleaf weeds. It is good for all grass types except St Augustine grass. Highlights: This is a 3 in 1 product; Pre and post emergent crabgrass control and broadleaf weed killer; Feeds and greens up to 12 weeks; Safe around waterways; Specifications:
While there are many products on the market that claim to be the best weed and feed for centipede grass, the reality is that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. The best approach is to use a combination of products and techniques to tailor a program specifically for your lawn.
Some of the most effective products for centipede grass include:
-Weed killers that contain the active ingredient triclopyr, such as Ortho’s Poison Ivy & Brush Killer or Roundup’s Poison Ivy & Brush Killer Plus.
-A pre-emergent herbicide that contains the active ingredient benefin, such as Scotts’ Bonus S Weed & Feed.
-A post-emergent herbicide that contains the active ingredient dicamba, such as Spectracide’s Weed & Feed.
In addition to using products, there are a few other things you can do to help control weeds in your centipede grass:
-Mow regularly and keep your lawn healthy. A thick, healthy lawn is better able to compete with weeds.
-Remove weeds by hand when they are small. The sooner you can get them out of your lawn, the better.
-Use mulch in garden beds and around trees and shrubs. This will help prevent weeds from getting a foothold.
