20 Best Way To Keep Heat Out Of Windows (2022 Updated)

We bought the denim ones and when I first opened the package they looked very grey, but once hung in the room they look denim. They we hung in our bedroom which gets the afternoon and evening sun and they work great.

In the middle of the afternoon the room is pitch black. My only criticism is they arrive very creased (as others have mentioned) due to being folded in the packaging. The creases do iron out. Great value for money.

Surprised at how lightweight these curtains were out of the bag considering they’re blackout curtains. They are true blackout curtains and work for my room without any light penetrating through. I like the textured pattern and material of the the knitted curtains as they add extra dimension to my room.

The grommets make moving the curtains easy to use also. My only minor disappointment was that the gray color I was expecting was a little lighter in shade than I had imagined when I initially ordered it.

I made do with it, but thought the gray shade would look a lot more luxe in a darker shaded gray.

I was pleasantly surprised by these! The darkening level is described well in the product title “Room Darkening” so they aren’t blackout. Theres a streetlight that shines in my room and these took care of that.

The quality is quite nice although the wrinkles have proven hard to get out without access to an iron. I’m here to rave aboit the insulation! My room was super drafty while my roommate’s was super warm so she’d blast the AC and I was left freezing my butt off.

Not anymore. I can’t believe they worked! Great product for the price!.

These curtains are very pretty and elegant looking, but they are not blackout curtains. They do filter the light, but you can certainly still see light through them, much more than I anticipated. I bought these to replace some true blackout curtains that I’ve had for almost 10 years.

The previous curtains (that I also bought from Target) were cheaper but made my room pitch black. I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep up these new curtains in my bedroom or replace them with my true blackout curtains and put these in the living room instead.

I love these curtains! They are exactly what I was hoping they would be. It came with two curtains (I had been worried they would count one curtain as two bc of how it is doubled up. ) It does not block out the light as much as blackout curtains do, but it does block out a lot of it.

I like the way sunlight looks coming in through sheer curtains too, so I love having that option. I only bought the extra long size bc, for whatever reason, it was cheaper, but I’m glad I did. It is gorgeous how it pools on the floor a little bit, like a waterfall.

Lastly, but, perhaps, most important, was the price. It is shocking to me how expensive curtains can get, so I was extremely pleased by the price of these curtains. I think I paid about $45. They were some of the cheapest I could find, and, also the most beautiful.

For me, these curtains are perfect!.

I love these catering two layer room darkening curtains. They are elegant with a satiny under layer and sheer top layer. They provide plenty of privacy and protection from the hot Alabama sun in June (94 degrees today).

Pics are straight out of package so wrinkles are not bad and will fall out. This is the third set of curtains I have purchased for this sliding glass door in eat-in kitchen, so I’m not easily satisfied.

But these satisfy!.

Very disappointed with these curtains. I purchased 6 sets thinking there would be foam backing on them “as described” and not any one panel has foam backing at all. It’s just plain fabric. Description was completely false & deceiving.

This is not the first time I’ve ordered curtains and not gotten what was described. Never again will I order curtains from Zulily.

I was a little nervous to order these panels because I thought they might be thinner and a darker color than I wanted. However, I was pleasantly surprised that they’re actually heavy weight; and lighter colored than in the picture; and they definitely darken the room; and they’re very well made.

I ordered 4 sets and now I want to order 4 more. Great curtains!.

This valance looks amazing paired with the scroll curtains. It gives the curtains a professional look. They are easy to hang and very easy to care for. I have ordered the curtains for all my bedrooms with the valance to match.

They work really well to block the light and cold. Very affordable price.

I have been looking for replacement valances for my 5 window kitchen for some time now so when I saw the insulated scroll design ones on sale, I jumped at the chance to get them to give my kitchen a “lift”.

I bought them in chocolate to blend in with my cabinets and microwave cart. I like the idea of having a little blockage of the morning sun but they still give me plenty of light as well.

I bought this when it was final sale, and also no reviews, but I still really like it. It is definitely “oversized”, and it is too big, even for what the style is aiming for. I am a solid Medium for almost everything with a bust of 34DD, but a Small would have been better and still oversized.

The taupe colour is beautiful and I love it. I don’t mind that it’s huge, but some might. Size down if you want oversize and not way too big.

While this jacket is designed for spring/temperatures the design allows for layering underneath and I’ve been wearing it all winter. It’s great for driving and quick trips to the store. Appears to be water resistant and wind proof and even being oversized has a flattering fit.

It would be even warmer if it had a zipper closure but I don’t mind the snaps.

Too leve for my height. I weigh 175, 5’3, curvy. It was too long and oversized. I should have got me down a lower size but the sale was final. I’ve been a fan of MPG for 10 years and I have to give this beautiful jacket away.

I recommend sizing down because it is a warm and stylish jacket.

We needed blinds for our whole house. We bought 4 of these for the bedroom to make sure they were good quality and easy to install. When we got them home, we couldn’t get the end caps on the bottom rails.

We called the store and they told us to bring them in. We drive the 43 km back and after a great deal of struggling, two employees managed to install the caps. So we took the blinds home and installed them.

Two went up okay, but the other 2 simply would not seat in the brackets properly. And one bracket broke as we tried to snap the blind in place. So now we have 2 blinds that are okay and the other two that are crooked as the headrail is not completely seated.

We will be buying different blinds for the rest of the house.

We installed these blinds on our patio French doors. They are perfect for what we needed. They allow light to filter through but give plenty of privacy. Contrary to some of the reviews, they were very easy to install and went up without issue.

Would definitely buy again!.

I’ve been buying these by the dozen. The original ones were well made and simple to install. The more recent ones, purchased a year later, are lower in quality and harder to install. Overall, though, they are a simple elegant solution.

I have used 3M window insulator kit for patio doors for years. Inside & outside & they worked great. One year I couldn’t find it at m y store so had to use a different brand. Which was poor. Then last year I bought 3M somewhere & the tape was awful.

It wouldn’t work so I searched the house & found some old rolls of tape that were left from other years. They worked. I talked to someone at 3M & he assured me they were going to improve it for this year.

So, I bought the 3M again & the tape is awful. Paper won’t come off on either side. I got it off for about 6 inches then the paper ripped & can’t peel it. I am so disappointed. Going to have to see what else is available.

They need to improve their product or go back to the old tape which worked well.

I bought this one day ago. Paper will not release from tape. Plastic is super thin and does not shrink like it used to. Last year I had left over plastic and tape from the year before. From reading reviews I see the problem started last year.

I’ve been using this product for over 10 years ,and always told people how superior it was to the competition. Sad to see a company that made a great product ,get so cheap just to save some money. Went and bought Duck max strength and tape and plastic is how 3m’s used to be.

Plastic is not quite as crystal clear,but is far superior to 3m’s junk.

I have always had good luck with the indoor patio window insulating kit, and that is what I purchased again this year. After getting everything prepped, I started to attach the tape and realized after about 1/3 done, the paper liner wouldn’t peel off! After searching the house (I’m in a rural area and don’t have a store within 25 miles) luckily I found enough to complete the project.

The film was fine. Disappointed.

PROs: 1- Price. 2- Area used them in- Kitchen, Dinning Room, French Doors. 3- Looks OK, Now that they are finally up. 4- They have some Room Darking Abilities, but not much. So more on the light filtering end.

*These are NOT BLOCK OUT DRAPES. CONS – 1- Lots of work to get wrinkles out. 2-Once ironed, They DO Wrinkle EASY 3- In oder to get the wrinkles out, had to WASH and DRY them. Then Hot iron them twice, to get all the wrikinkles out.

You can only iron the fronts, as the back has a material that melts. 4- These are much more narrow then usually drapes, so double check the width of your windows. I like my drapes to be 3x the fullness to hang correctly.

More info- I needed drapes to all match an open concept room, home, with very large windows and doors. That encluded French large Doors ( 2 sets) Dining Rooms (4 sets of windows) and also Kitchen windows (2) too.

Also, I needs 3 differenent length Sizes. For Very LARGE WINDOWS and DOORS in my home. I bought several sets on line, and also had to go back to store to buy more, as these are very narrow. ALL COLORS MATCHED PERFECTLY.

NOW THAT THEY ARE UP, LOOKS AMAZING. But did require a lot of work to get them that way. They look really great, now that they are up, and I love them NOW, but took amost an 1 1/2 hrs, to iron them all, as it was HARD to get the WRINKLES out.

(bought 16 panels in all- 8 sets total) FYI- THE WHITE, is not a pure white, but has soft yellow undertones. So a very soft calming white. So, if you need BRIGHT WHITE, these won’t work.

I was ready to return these because after I ordered them, I noticed one hidden picture on a review that showed a black liner. So beware, from the outside, you will have a black curtain! And I was using them in our large living room windows.

Also, as others noted, “white” is more of a pearly gray. I happen to love it next to my darker gray walls. I decided to keep my sheer white curtains in the middle and close the blackouts for privacy at night.

It looks less like a shower curtain. And I used 3 panels per window. I was pleasantly surprised at the feel and quality of these. I don’t usually like shiny curtains but this has the right amount of sheen.

And as long as you thread them with the seams inside, they look fine from the street. (otherwise you see the white against black seams). I haven’t tried to iron these yet, as you can see. I haven’t had much success ironing with a “cool iron” in the past and it’s a pain.

These pics are right out of the bags. Overall, I was expected to be disappointed with this delivery and ended up being thrilled! These will provide the nighttime privacy I want and look very nice during the day! As long as you’re aware of the color and black liner, I think you’ll be happy with these for the price! I am!.

Calling something “Sun Zero” implies that these are “blackout” curtains. I can only hope that this part of the description will be more accurate. “The woven solid design reduces light and noise for better sleep.

Helps to keep your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. ” If one does read further into the details it does say this: “Room darkening technology blocks out some unwanted light while enhancing privacy.

” I will say these curtains barely block out any light. As other reviewers have mentioned, these are basically sheers. It’s too much of a hassle to refold these curtains to put them back in the package to return them.

So I will just keep them to hopefully add some heating and cooling conservation to the other curtains that I was going to replace.

I give these blackout Curtains 5***** star’s I have never bought any Blackout Curtains in the past from other companies so I can’t compare them to any other’s but i can for sure say these blackout Curtains are Beautifully made and it keeps my two bedroom cool in summer and warm in the winter.

I’am definitely buying 4 more to finish the front room and dinning room.

Wonderful quality at a GREAT price! I have told all my friends about these curtains. Highly recommend. I would love to see more design options and colors in all lengths. That would be my only complaint.

This Duck Brand Max Strength Heavy duty window kit was exactly what I needed to save my plants! Our mandatory stay at home orders allowed me to finally have the patio garden that I dreamed of. (Silver lining?) When the weather turned colder I was so sad that I had to say goodbye to my plant friends.

until I realized that I could keep some of them on my beautiful bay window. However it was so drafty until I used this product! It is so easy to install and with the addition to my heat lamp, my tomato, basil and mint plants have continued to thrive.

The window kit included a roll of semi thick pliable plastic that is easy to measure and cut. The double sided tape is the perfect size for my window frame and it was easy to peel the backing off. After plastic is attached to the tape and trimmed to size, I already felt a difference, but when I used the hair dryer to shrink the plastic the difference was amazing! The appearance through the window was pretty clear as well.

I can not attest to the ease of removal because, well, it’s still cold. It doesn’t look too difficult though.

If you are having any issues with drafty windows, I would recommend giving this a try. It’s really amazing when you notice the difference in the amount of energy (and subsequently money) being saved from the windows being properly sealed up.

I used this in our dayroom, which is mainly just a room full of windows, and I felt a difference that night. Typically, it gets so cold in there that I can’t stand to walk in there after the sun goes down, but this really helped reduce the amount of cold air getting in, so it was tolerable to be in the room.

I like that it doesn’t block the light out though, like insulation curtains do. Also, it was fairly easy to install, and I was able to do it on my own. The roll application is much easier than just having one large sheet of plastic (or whatever your using) to try and put up, and then tape down by yourself.

I’m excited to see the difference it makes in the AC usage/bill once we start getting into the summer months!.

Duck Brand Max Strength rolled window insulation is great for those drafty windows. We get the Santa Ana winds throughout the year and this product has been great keeping that wind and draft out. It is really easy to install.

First, make sure to prep your windowsills, by cleaning and drying thoroughly so that the tape will stick properly. Next, as you place the plastic on the tape, undo the tape as you go, this is the easiest way.

Once you have the plastic attached to the tape, just get out a hair dryer and use to shrink the film. It has been a great asset to our drafty house. With it being clear plastic, once you have shrunk it, you really don’t even notice it on your windows, especially with the curtains.

You will not be disappointed.

I chose these for the beautiful color and price. The material is lighter in weight than I had hoped, but still beautiful. They hang nice and wrinkles came out after hanging for a few days. I ordered 3 more panels.

You really should double the width in panels vs. the width of your window. I am pleased with the look!.

Bought these to match the colour theme for my daughters’ new bedroom and they are delighted with them. Such a gorgeous colour. They seem to do a good job however I underestimated the width needed – the 52inches is not wide enough for the 48inch window once on the curtain pole so I will have to buy another set for them to work as blackout curtains.

Have always gone for light curtains so decided to go for dark this time. The chocolate curtains look amazing, am very pleased with them so I bought 2 pairs. Will definitely be coming back for more curtains for my sons room next.

I got this for my mother’s new apartment. We both loved it but at first we were confused because we didn’t read the instructions. We needed to read the instructions to have an idea of how to install it and use it better.

This type of curtain is better than the blind curtain. The color and design is neutral so it matches with other colors of the decoration. And it is so easy to clean and storage due to the velcro strips.

It even came with clips to secure the curtain. When it comes to blocking the sun and keeping the heat out is doing its amazing job. I already got a cordless curtain in my house and I love it. But this one looks more fancy and practical too due to the 2 pieces of fabric.

The Sun Zero Detour Modern Trellis Blackout cordless roman shades are one of the most well made and sturdy shades I have come across. I am blown away by how simple and easy installation is. The instructions are very easy to follow.

The quality of the shades and materials used feel top of the line. The ease of using these is quite amazing, they glide like butter! This shade has helped tremendously with keeping our room much cooler and has helped a bit with our electric bill! Extremely happy with the quality of this shade, we will be using Sun Zero in the Future as we continue to upgrade our home.

Although they look nice, there are serious issues with uniformity in length. I ordered five 95” panels (3 for a sliding glass door and 2 for a living room – one on each side). None of the five measure the advertised 95”, and only 2 of them matched in length.

So out of the five, four of them were different lengths. Not a huge issue if they’re split on a window, but the length issue forced me to mount the rod above the sliding glass door unlevel, to achieve the same distance from the floor on each of the 3 panels.

I adore BB&B, but this issue of this item (is common based on reviews) and really needs to be addressed. I would encourage BB&B to discontinue carrying an item that doesn’t align with the rest of their top-notch products.

These panels are VERY nice. I got them in white, and they are white until the sun shines through them, which makes them look slightly creamy. They are definitely room darkening, but they are not total blackout.

The panels have a good weight and texture to them. I’m surprised they do not cost a lot more. Highly recommend.

Was supposed to be white in colour but was more of a light cream colour but still works. Although would have preferred white.
