The 70s was a time of great change in television. Theme songs became more popular as they helped to set the tone and mood of a show. They also helped to make a show more memorable. Many of the theme songs from the 70s are still popular today.
Some of the most iconic and popular tv theme songs from the 70s include:
The Brady Bunch Theme Song
This timeless classic was the theme song for one of the most popular tv shows of the 70s, The Brady Bunch. The song was written by Frank DeVito and Charles Fox and sung by Susan Olsen, who played Cindy Brady on the show.
The song perfectly captures the feel of the show, which was all about a large family living together and dealing with the ups and downs of life.
Happy Days Theme Song
The Happy Days theme song was written by Charles Fox and sung by Jimmie Haskell. The song perfectly captures the feel of the show, which was all about the happy and carefree days of the 1950s. The song was so popular that it was even released as a single, which reached the top 10 on the Billboard charts.
Laverne & Shirley Theme Song
The Laverne & Shirley theme song was written by Charles Fox and sung by Cindy Williams and Penny Marshall. The song perfectly captures the feel of the show, which was all about two friends who worked together and had a lot of fun.
The song was so popular that it was even released as a single, which reached the top 10 on the Billboard charts.
The Jeffersons Theme Song
The Jeffersons theme song was written by Sherman Hemsley and sung by Isabel Sanford. The song perfectly captures the feel of the show, which was all about a successful African American family who lived in an affluent neighborhood.
The song was so popular that it was even released as a single, which reached the top 10 on the Billboard charts.
excellent cd’s. a wonderful addition to my collection. I love the music of this generation and the 70’s were always my absolute favorite music era. I highly recommend this 3 cd collection to anyone who likes this music.

Features:The 30 track compilation album includes a range of beloved 1980s hits andclassic tracks featured in ‘Stranger Things’ and the highly-anticipatedsecond season, ‘Stranger Things 2’. The album features nineteen songs and eleven audio clips fromthe show.
Wish I could recommend it higher. Bought it with some bonus cash that Best Buy granted me for my points. Some good songs. Cool artwork. But some weird stuff and some lame tracks too. Oh well, not like soundtracks are usually lifechanging on vinyl.
Was between this and guardians of the galaxy. Thought I would mix it up a bit.
Love this vinyl. I haven’t experienced any skipping, pops, cracks, etc. Overall both records that came in the vinyl package sound pretty good and I got everything that was included in the package. Definitely recommend this to a friend/STfan/Vinyl lover.
My daughter is a big ST fan, and as someone who grew up in the 80’s, this really hits the spot for both of us. Great collection of (mainly) new wave pop songs. Snippets of dialogue pop up throughout it, making it a fun mixtape of sorts.
A fun way to revisit these tunes, and makes a good case for another generation to enjoy them as well.
Sleeve Condition-NEW. For example: some of our stock images include stickers, labels, price tags, hyper stickers, obi’s, promotional messages, and or writing on the sleeve or disk label. Sometimes the stock images show a coloured or picture disk.
The most complete single CD/cassette “best of” available from The Monkees. Includes all of the group’s Top 10 single sides their ’80s comeback singles rare material and an informative booklet packed with plenty of photos!.
This is 20 of the best songs of the 60’s. I was a little kid and wanted NOT to be listening to the Other popular band from England. I found this group and purchased and played it until you could see the other side of the music grooves.
I watched the show, had the stocking hat and made a drum-set out of cardboard boxes. I now have a real drum-set in my living room at 60. Better late than never. You never lose the beat. The story of a made for TV band that reinvented itself and became un-fake.
The melding of big business, television, a forward-thinking rascal for a manager and the rest is a Pleasant Valley listening fun-day. Strawberry picking, loud fast, REAL cars, stripped pants and ruffle shirts you could buy out of the Sears or Wards catalog as school clothes.
Its an odd collection; it feels like it wants to be an ultimate singles collection but totally overlooks singles from instant replay and changes but has their reunion singles – except one. It feels more like Mickys greatest hits.
Even davy is on only a handful, mike 2, peter 1. What it does prove is how powerful and woefully underrated micky is as the timeless voice of a generation. Its a rhino collection so you know its gonna sound great.
Again, good for the monkee newbie but there are better collections out there before and after the release of this one.
I’m 61 years old now but some of their hits would occasionally play in my music oriented mind. So, I got it. What took me so long? From a child and a transister radio to an adult with a good stereo system is quite a music memory experience.
These guys did a good job in the studio. They have some very good tunes. Some of these songs deserve to played on todays radio once in a while. Excellent driving tunes.
The Best Seventies Album contains the defining tracks of the decade and features some of the biggest songs from original artists. This collection features greatest hits of Pop, Rock, RandB, and Disco.
Includes Earth, Wind and Fire, T. Rex, Dolly Parton, Hall and Oates, Sweet, The Jacksons, Boz Scaggs, The Emotions, Eric Carmen, Leo Sayer, O’Jays, Meat Loaf and many more. 100 legendary hits on 5 CDs.
Ad sounded great. I love this era of music. But although I recognized many titles of songs in the ad, an alarming number of songs were either alternate versions or remakes. Grossly disappointed and left feeling like a chump.
Many, many tracks were from unidentified artists. I like to be reminded of who sang what. Beyond that, too many songs that were completely unfamiliar. I’d do the research, but who cares. There are other collections available.
Producers: Russel Simmons, Larry Smith, Rick Rubin, Pete Rock, Run-D MC. Compilation producer: Rob Santos, Jeremy Holiday. Recorded between 1983 & 1993. Personnel: Steven Tyler (vocals); Eddie Martinez, Joe Perry (guitar).
Audio Mixers: DJ Red Alert; Davy D. ; DJ Starchild; Latin Rascals; Rick Rubin; Run-D. M. C. Photographer: George DuBose. Break out the Kangols, rope chains, and Adidas, because Run-DMC are in the house with GREATEST HITS.
Still busting out rhymes when most of their contemporaries had long ago left the world of rap, these Queens natives take a quick look back with this collection overflowing with hip-hop milestones. Employing spare beats and metal-derived samples on early smashes like “It’s Like That” and “Rock Box,” Run-DMC was one of the first rap crews to crash the R&B charts.
From there, this talented trio soon appeared in movies like KRUSH GROOVE with song in tow (“Sucker M. C. ‘s [Krush Groove 1]”), started influencing fashion (“My Adidas”), and smashed the line between rock & roll and rap with help from Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry (“Walk This Way”).
Other notable nuggets sprinkled throughout this collection are hits like “You Be Illin'”, “It’s Tricky,” “Peter Piper,” and of course, “King Of Rock. ” There’s also Run-DMC covering the Monkees (“Mary Mary”), putting their stamp on the holidays (“Christmas In Hollis”), and making a massive early-’90s comeback (“Down With The King”).
Cut by Doug Sax from the original masters and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI. The Eagles defined the southern California sound of the early 1970s, and their music was a veritable soundtrack for the first half of that decade.
Released in 1976, Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) went straight to No. 1 in Billboard and became the first album ever certified platinum. Now, it is certified a remarkable 29-times platinum, and almost always holds the No.
we own a vintage stereo system so whenever we come across vinyl we want to listen to, we usually buy it. Best Buy has good if not great prices on vinyl and also carry “heavy” vinyl and other variants or more rare formats.
I am impressed with the cover art because it is printed in a raised embossed fashion, glossy, which gives it an almost 3-D effect. Anyway, this is Eagles Greatest Hits volume 2 and I would like to get volume 1 on vinyl also.
What more needs to be said, if you’re a fan you know the music is great! Eagles rock!.
While this is a good album overall, the double LP version containing Volumes 1 & 2 is preferred. Best Buy stores do not stock a large inventory of records, and mail delivery orders risk damage in shipment.
This single LP version was in stock at my local store, featuring an embossed cover.
One of the most popular movie musicals of all time, The Sound of Music is based on the true story of the Trapp Family Singers. Julie Andrews stars as Maria, a young nun in an Austrian convent who regularly misses her morning prayers because she enjoys going to the hills to sing the title song.
Deciding that Maria needs to learn something about the real world before she can take her vows, the Mother Superior (Peggy Wood) sends her off to be governess for the children of the widowed Captain Von Trapp (Christopher Plummer).
Arriving at the Trapp home, Maria discovers that her new boss is cold and aloof, and his seven children virtual automatons-at least, whenever the Captain is around. Otherwise, the kids are holy terrors, as evidenced by the fact that Maria is the latest in a long line of governesses.
But Maria soon ingratiates herself with the children, especially oldest daughter Liesl (Charmian Carr), who is in love with teenaged messenger boy Rolf. As Maria herself begins to fall in love with the Captain, she rushes back to the Abbey so as not to complicate his impending marriage to a glamorous baroness (Eleanor Parker).
But the children insist that Maria return, the Baroness steps out of the picture, and Maria and the Captain confirm their love in the song “Something Good. ” Unhappily, they return home from their honeymoon shortly after the Nazis march into Austria.
Already, swastikas have been hung on the Von Trapp ancestral home, and Liesl’s boyfriend Rolf has been indoctrinated in the “glories” of the Third Reich. The biggest blow occurs when Von Trapp is called back to active duty in the service of the Fuhrer.
The Captain wants nothing to do with Nazism, and he begins making plans to take himself and his family out of Austria.
I saw this when it came out in ’65. Three years later, I took a study tour of Germany and Austria, and when we visited Salzburg, we went to the grounds of the Von Trapp home as seen in the movie. It’s still a popular tourist attraction.
This was BY FAR my mom’s favorite movie; she could watch it over and over. It had been a number of years since I watched it, so when I saw the 50th anniversary edition, I had to buy it. Very few films can do whet Sound of Music did: it brought several tears to my eyes.
I found myself singing along with the songs. IF you want an UPLIFTING, SWEET flick, but also with some action and suspense (even though we know how it turns out), this is a GREAT WATCH!!!.
This is one of my favourite movies. As a child I would watch it every day and sing the songs all the time. It touches on a lot of good morales. It’s based in war times but nothing to scary and nothing gory.
Its a musical so most of it is filled with songs and dancing. It’s a classic movie and I definitely recommend it!.
Decided to buy it instead of renting it again. It’s a Holiday favorite and the 50th edition goes into sharing the story of Salzburg with Julie Andrews. Almost an entire extra movie/documentary about how Salzburg was put on the map and made a tourist sight by the movie.
Elvis – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the music companion to the Warner Bros. Pictures biopic film ELVIS, from Baz Lurhmann. This critically acclaimed film stars Austin Butler as Elvis Presley and Tom Hanks as his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker.
The soundtrack features a sampling of original songs from Elvis’s extraordinary body of work from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, and new recordings celebrating his diverse musical influence and enduring impact on popular artists of today.
For years RCA and Sony have been rereleasing the same old list of ‘greatest hits’ from Elvis and this just leads to complacency and the belief that Elvis really only had about 15-20 decent songs in his whole career.
Baz Luhrmann’s ELVIS movie soundtrack gives us variety and some different versions of Elvis’ well known songs and… it’s about time!.
i really liked how this album made me like the movie a lot more. it made me like the movie a lot more because i could listen to each song individually then go back to the movie and realize how similar each song is to the actual preformances.
Bring on the vintage holiday cheer with the original 1965 ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ soundtrack. One of the most beloved and iconic holiday albums of all-time, this best-selling perennial classic continues to introduce generations of children to the joys of jazz, year after year, with songs like ‘Christmas Time Is Here’ and the instantly recognizable ‘Linus and Lucy.
‘ A Charlie Brown Christmas has remained one of the biggest-selling holiday titles since its release in 1965, thanks to annual airings of the TV special. The soundtrack album remains the second-best-selling jazz title in history, and was certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA in late 2016.
I am happy to have purchased this CD. The music takes me back to my childhood, when I would anxiously wait to see the specials during the holiday season. What joy to be able to listen to this music any time during Christmas! It is great for parties too!.
We have had this soundtrack before but on cassette. It had worn out after 25 years of playing during Christmas week. The cd provides even more music from the classic show A Charlie Brown Christmas. The music is PERFECT for background themes during Christmas breakfast, opening present, an evening gathering for friends, etc.
Color Of Vinyl Subject To Change Without Notice / Call To Confirm Colored Copies Are Still Available The Who remain one of the most creative, dynamic, popular and constantly interesting bands to emerge from Britain during the 1960s and their timeless music sounds as fresh today as when it was first recorded.
Colored vinyl pressing of The Who’s Greatest Hits, originally released in 1983. The all encompassing 14-track collection includes such massive hit tracks as “The Seeker,” “Magic Bus,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Won’t Get Fooled Again” and “My Generation” among many more!.
This vinyl May look good but the cover is good but the disc is the main problem. When I got it the disc was scratched and I was unhappy. It was looping on “The Seeker”. If you want to get this, change your mind.
The disc is scratched so don’t get this and get another vinyl.
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY AWESOME MIX VOL. 1 is the collection of songs featured in the film. Music plays a major role in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY as the 1970s songs featured in the film are part of the storyline in a unique way.
Explaining how the songs come to play in the story, director James Gunn says, ‘One of the main story points in the movie is that Quill has this compilation tape (Awesome Mix #1) that he got from his mother before she died that she made for him.
It was of songs that she loved, all songs from the 1970s, and that’s the only thing he has left of his mother and that’s the only thing he has left of his home on Earth. He uses that as a connection to his past and to the sadness that he feels of having left all that and lost all that.
‘ From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe.
To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer.
But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, which first appeared in comic books in Marvel Super-Heroes, Issue #18 (Jan. 1969), stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, featuring Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, with John C.
Reilly, Glenn Close as Nova Prime and Benicio Del Toro as The Collector. James Gunn is the director of the film with Kevin Feige, p. g. a. , producing. Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Nik Korda and Stan Lee serve as executive producers.
Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is written by James Gunn and Nicole Perlman.
I love the Awesome Mix from the Guardians of the Galaxy and now I’m able to rock out to the same music in the same format as in the movie. The tape and case have labels that look aged and give them the look like they are from the 80’s.
I also have the Awesome Mix on lp, but it feels more authentic listening to it on cassette. It comes with a code for the digital download of all the songs so you can listen to them on a phone or MP3 when there isn’t a Walkman around.
I got it in the mail today and my only gripe is not being able to enter the code to access the digital version of the soundtrack, due to the small print on the sticker. No worries though, as the soundtrack would be played on occasion.
Bonus points that it’s a legitimate cassette tape and in a classic “mixtape” format that has the nostalgic feels for those who made mixtapes growing up. Can’t wait to listen to it myself and jam out to the music.
I bought a 2006 Nissan because it was the last year they had cassette players. I am not real crazy about storing CD’s in my car. So. with that said, I love the songs on this cassette. I keep it in my car and play it all the time.
(I bought the same CD for the house. ) Thanks for asking.
Those are the best classic songs that the whole family can enjoy on a road trips. I’d also recommend it to real old time truckers. I purchased this item for my dad for Christmas and he loves it. My dad was a trucker at one point and he loves this CD.
This compilation will take you back to a golden age as memories of a long gone era come flooding back. With gems from classics such as ‘The Avengers’, ‘Rawhide’, ‘Dr. If you aren’t old enough, you’re still in for a treat!!!.
For once here is a collection of television themes that are, for the most, the originals. From Cheyanne to Wagon train, they are a real good nostalgia trip. Great for playing in the background. One moan, the Robin Hood Theme, by Dick James, was the commercial recording and no where near as good as the Gary Miller version from the actual TV show.
These tv themes really do take you back, and I am certain to many of us that these will bring a little smile to the face as you remember with fondness some of the shows that were produced in the 1950’s/60’s.
This is the disc (originally a double-LP) that started it all, 65 themes from television shows ranging from the mid-1950s until the late 1960s, from, say, Rin-Tin-Tin through Mannix and Mission Impossible.
The sound quality is variable — some of this stuff was taken off of film elements — and some of it is clever re-records, but it’s all very familiar and, in some cases, rather enlightening. Not that there are revelations to be found in much of this, but fans of the late Joe Meek might be interested to know just how much of his production technique and signature sound found its way into the theme music from, say, Fireball XL-5.
The producers have included opening and closing themes linked together where that latter add significantly to the material. Popular choices here include The Munsters, The Addams Family, Top Cat, The Flinstones, The Jetsons, Dobie Gillis, My Three Sons, Superman, Bonanza, Branded, Daniel Boone, The Rifleman, Perry Mason, Ironside, Dragnet, 77 Sunset Strip, The Mod Squad, etc.
Love the variety, brings back so many fond memories. It was especially fun listening to it with my parents who recognize more songs than I do. Only bummer is that some of the songs are not the originals, and it’s noticeable.
Some songs are slightly different versions or tweaked in some way. I wish the CD just used all the original songs instead of altering some of them.
Thoroughly enjoy the old TV themes. Actually, the themes have been employed to make up Games to be played with friends and for a Drop-in Group at our church which meets weekly. A fun set of activities as each CD has a potential for several games.
When I saw this CD I had to get it to download on my Ipod! WOW! This CD is full of some serious Soul music; LOVE SONGS (I’ll Always Love My Mama, Say You Love Me, In The Mood, Lean On Me, When Will I See You Again, Best of My Love, You Are My Friend, Don’t Take Your Love, and Go Away Little Boy by Marlena Shaw (yes, the California Soul Diva); FUNK: Reach For It, Play That Funky Music, Do It Any Way You Wanna, Dazz, etc.
, ; DANCE TUNES: Boogie Nights, Got To Be Real, Disco Lady, T. S. O. B. , etc. ; FEEL GOOD MUSIC: Free (Denise Williams), What A Difference A Day Makes, Lady Marmalade, That Lady, Me And Mrs. Jones, etc.
Too much great music to list. This CD is DA BOMB! It’s so shameful this type of music is not the norm, as it should be. Fantastic CD, great music for your listening pleasure.
The songs in the Nashville series are far better (in my opinion) then the lot we now listen in our radio chats. The singers and musicians actually have the talent to do it live contrary to all this studios help trick half talent people now making money in the music industry.
Just watch the series and I bet you will agree with me.
A nice set of 60’s stuff that doesn’t feature on the usual best of the 60’s cds. My only comment would be a few tracks are re-made versions by the original artists, eg Classical Gas, A Walk In The Black Forest and for me that’s a bit of a let down, I want the original versions of the hits as I remember them from the charts (I’m 64 by the way and work as a DJ).
Brilliant! Wanted this to relive the old classics that you very rarely hear, i takes me back to my sisters playing these on the Record player , i am a fan of old and new music but it is comforting during these times to take our minds back to a more stable place.
I have never been a fan of the Now series as prefer to buy the individual artist but this has got some crackers on !. my son says that it’s like hearing sounds from the Carry On Films!!!.
As it says on the cover, “Forgotten hits of the 60s”. Although I know a multitude of songs from the 60s, there were a few songs I did not know. However that did not detract from the other 98% of songs which brought back many memories.
As part of The Who’s 50th anniversary celebrations (which include a 2014 British Tour) a new compilation is issued. The appropriately titled ‘The Who Hits 50’ contains tracks from across the band’s career.
It features ‘Pinball Wizard’, ‘The Kids Are Alright’, ‘My Generation’, ‘Baba O’Riley’, ‘Substitute’, ‘I Can’t Explain’, ‘Dogs’ and more. CD – Double CD. 42 Tracks. LP – Double 180 Gram Vinyl in a Gatefold sleeve with colour printed inner bags.
i am at the age to remember the band when they were in their hey day, however i cannot remember hearing some of these great tracks. The information supplied also gives an insight to the writing of the tracks which i find fascinating.
c d quality is exceptional. Any old ( or new ) rockers out there, dont hesitate in buying this, simply brilliant lyrics and production. Steve – age 63.
Well firstly it;s The Who, so you know it’s good. I would have preferred teh full versions of Who Are You? and Won’t Get Fooled Again, but other than that, Perfect. Welll worth getting as the songs are more mastered for modern equipment, so louder on Portable Media etc.
I went to see the Who Hits 50 in concert so just had to have the CD to continue recalling the event. These tracks were all sung at the concert I attended and I just loved the concert and this CD. Good sounds, from a great group of years gone by.
Set in the Wisconsin suburbs, Eric Forman (Topher Grace) lives under the authority of his parents, Red and Kitty (Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp). Next door is his girfriend/neighbor, Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon) and her parents Bob and Midge (Don Stark and Tanya Roberts).
The rest of the gang includes Jackie (Mila Kunis), her on again-off again boyfriend Kelso (Ashton Kutcher), Hyde (Danny Masterson), a conspiracy theorist who believes Xerox will take over the world, and Fez (Wilmer Valderrama), a foreign exchange student who is soaking up American culture like a sponge.
The gang mostly likes to spend their time in Eric’s basement, pondering their lives, parents, and their futures, but they get into many funny mishaps and adventures in their teenage lives.
“That ’70s Show” is a personal favorite of mine and one of the best sitcoms in my opinion. The stories told in each episode are really funny, memorable, and engaging. ALL of the characters are really likeable and offer a great variety of personalities and comedic styles.
The whole cast has great chemistry together and is very charismatic, likeable, and a complete joy to watch. This blu ray set collects all the seasons in a nice little package. The only other thing I wish it included was a digital copy of the series, but that’s not a deal breaker.
Overall, this is a great collection of a truly excellent sitcom. This set contains hours of entertainment and laughs, so I highly recommend it.
Not rating the show, just this soecific release. I read reviews that spoke of shotty quality and malfunctions and hoped that it wouldnt be the case for me, unfortunately, it was. Not only did the quality look pretty poor for a blu ray, but the discs would skip several scenes and randomly freeze on our player.
About halfway through the pulot, the didc froze and skipped into another episode. This happened on a different disc from a later season that we tested also. I would reccomend buying digitally or maybe even the earlier blu ray release, definitely not this one!.
There are a few things that may come to mind when thinking about the conclusion of tv theme songs of the 70s. For one, many of these songs were upbeat and positive, often signifying the hope and change that was occurring during that time period.
Additionally, many of these songs were catchy and easy to sing along to, making them memorable for viewers. Finally, the majority of these songs were relatively short, making them perfect for use as theme songs.
All of these factors likely contributed to the popularity of tv theme songs of the 70s.
