Socks are a necessity for many people during cold weather. They not only keep your feet warm, but they also help to keep them dry. When your feet are cold, they are more likely to sweat, which can lead to problems like blisters and athlete’s foot.
Socks help to wick away moisture and keep your feet dry.

I got 10 or so pairs of these 4 years ago and cycle through them during the week. I use them all year despite it being a cold weather sock. I’ve never had an issue with my feet getting too hot and the padding really helps makes boots more comfortable.
They’ve also held up to 4 years of abuse with no issues. Some have color faded from countless washes but you’d only be able to tell if you compared them to a brand new sock. None have broken down yet but I’ll be asking for more from family for this holiday season.
When I first saw them I thought the price was outrageous but considering how long they last and how they stay perfect the whole time it’s more than worth it. If it helps sway you, I’ve used these socks in Korea and now Fort Drum.
Stuff them in a good cold weather boot and you’ll never have an issue.
These socks are great! I have a hard time finding socks that are both comfortable and warm enough to keep my feet happy through subzero temps here in the Rockies while I’m out doing ranch chores, but I finally found these! They stay up without sagging, the toe seam doesn’t make me want to scream, and they are the warmest socks I’ve ever owned.
my feet finally don’t go numb after an hour of caring for livestock! I’ll definitely be buying more.
These socks work very well for me, as I use them as a compression type. I am male, age 79, retired military & wear mens 8-1/2 shoe, & the womens medium is a little tight getting on but gives me the compression that I am needing due to a previous head injury and need the added tightness fit.
I would prefer a mid calf but for the difference of the pricing, I like these. I have previously purchased the womens boot mid calf at an Air Force Exchange, but no longer live in an area with that opportunity.
These are the only socks that I wear, 99% of the time.
Recently, just ordered my first pair for myself. I have ordered several pairs for my partner, and we have both been impressed with the quality, and he with the fit and comfort. Some of his pairs are a couple of years old, and he wears them constantly, and the are indistinguishable from his newer pairs as they aren’t yet showing signs of aging.
However, as others have stated the sizing is off for the women’s socks, they run larger. According to the size chart, I should be a medium. However, after reading some reviews, I sized down to a small, and very happy that I did, as they fit perfectly, even after being washed and dried.
They didn’t shrink at all. They feel good, however they do not feel as soft as his Bombas. My pair feels as though they were made with less cotton. I am still fairly pleased with them, and will purchase more in the future.
I bought one pair of these socks and thought they were great. I ordered three more–same style, same size, same color. The three pairs that arrived were not even close to the same quality, feel, fit or appearance as the first pair.
The fabric blend, i. e. , percentage of cotton and of other materials, on the Nordstrom website description did not match what was on the packaging of the socks. I returned the three right away and exchanged several emails with Bombas customer service.
It appears to me that Bombas is capable of making good socks (or maybe I have the only good pair) but quality control is seriously lacking. I will not buy any more Bombas socks.
This was my 3rd Bombas purchase, but my first time buying them from Dick’s sporting goods. My store had a decent selection , but I wish they had more of the golf specific variety available as I find them to be the most comfortable.
At almost $18 a pair these socks are not cheap, but my previous pairs have held up well and the cushioning has only bottomed out a tad bit. Hoping these hold up as long as the pairs I purchased from Bombas.

I purchased several different brands of wool socks in preparation for winter up here in the north. Most of the brands labeled “wool socks” are only 5% wool, THESE socks are actually 85%! They are comfortable and the small size fits my women’s 9.
5 foot. Perfect mid weight sock, wish I could find for heavy weight! Now that I know these are the real deal I’m going to order a whole bunch more for myself and friends. They even come in a very nice box perfect for wrapping as a gift.
Totally brilliant. Merino Wool is by far the best socks for long distance hikers. These are well padded, a nice height and well constructed. Have put about 35 miles on them so far just to test them out for an upcoming expedition.

Features Specs Care Ultrafine Merino is incredibly soft, moisture wicking and thermo-regulating Fully padded footbed and toe for added warmth Flat knit instep and cuff to reduce bulk and improve fit in a cycling shoe Ribbed arch band keeps sock in place 8” cuff with 1/2”cm welt for added coverage with tights or leg warmers Fabric: 58% Merino Wool / 35% Nylon / 6% Elastodiene / 1% Elastane Made in: Italy Caring for your cycling gear properly will extend its life and maintain its performance, fit and quality.
It’s important to consider these instructions carefully. You’ll find that your apparel will soften, and fit & comfort will improve after washing – especially with bibs & shorts. Machine wash cool, 86°F (30°C) with like colors: Cooler temps maintain better longevity for your apparel.
Like colors, especially lights, will remain more vibrant when washed with like colors. Use mild detergent. Do not bleach or dry clean: Strong detergents & bleach can break down the fibers and elastane in the garment, dramatically reducing its life.
Close all fastenings: this goes also for other garments mixed in with your cycling apparel. Velcro closures or clasps can catch on stitching or trim and damage your garments. Lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry: Do not put your cycling apparel in the dryer.
Even on low heat. Don’t do it. Heat can damage fabric, elastic and heat transfer logos very easily. Lycra (Elastane) is used throughout our garments to provide compression and support and is susceptible to damage from heat and can irreparably damage your apparel.
I’ve been converting most of my cycling clothing over to Velocio over the past year. I purchased two pairs of Winter Wool Socks. They felt great out of the box and loved the high cuff height for winter (and preferable height).
However, after one wash they went from 8 inches in height to about four inches. Still love the foot sole padding and would give them five stars if they didn’t shrink so much.
The sole has the perfect thickness and is warm enough for this year’s mild winter (no need for toe or shoe covers). I was disappointed that after one wash they went from 8-inch cuffs to about 4-inch cuffs.
It’s not a problem with leg warmers, but shorter-length socks are not my style if wearing shorts or knee warmers.
I wear a Women’s size 9 and ordered the S/M sock (according to chart fits W7-9) but the sock is still a little too large. I could manage but there will be a little bunching to fix every time I put on my shoes.
Also, I’m 5’5″ with muscular calves. The top cuff comes up onto the bottom of my calf so it ends up being too tight and unflattering. Would love an option that is 1. 5-2in shorter. I only took one star off since I haven’t tested them in use and I’m not sure I ever will.
Minus 33 Merino Wool White Mountain Lightweight Boot 10″. Merino Wool socks designed with full cushioning throughout, vented ankle gussets, and 3-Zone Elastic to keep them in place, these socks are the ultimate in comfort.
I was truly impressed that these socks were made not only in USA but locally made. I bought them for Christmas presents for all my kids because my kids like wool socks to wear in the Winter as they do a lot of outdoor activities.
Received them very promptly and was very impressed with the quality. I read the reviews and they said they held up much better than the popular and more expensive other brand, so here’s hoping because if they get a thumbs up from my kids I will certainly be back to buy more.
My friend told me about Minus 33 and nothing but great things to say about the products and the company.
After seeing your appearance on NH Chronicle I thought your socks would make a great birthday gift. I purchased 2 pairs as a gift and a pair for myself. They are wonderful socks!! Very lightweight and comfortable.
The recipient of my gift agrees. Thank you for making such a comfortable and warm sock!.
Comfortable for longs days if walking outside in cold climates. Kept my feet warm and dry with no odor. Highly recommended! I will try them in warmer temps also and I expect the same result. Minus33 products- I tell everyone to buy them!!!.

I hunt big game/waterfowl and sometimes the weather turns really cold. I own drawers full of “cold weather socks,” including battery operated models, heated insoles and use toe warmer packs. I usually wind up with cold feet, especially if I’m in a tree stand deer hunting.
I received a pair of Heat Holder socks for Christmas and discovered they really do keep my feet warm. They were purchased from Academy Sports but both local stores in my area were sold out. I went to their web site and ordered two pairs.
They only had one remaining, so at least I now own two pairs. I recommend them to anyone going outdoors in cold weather, especially if your going to be sitting on a deer stand/blind or waterfowl hunting.
My husband and I have been sitting out in the freezing cold for spring baseball games for 15+ years (and counting) with our three baseball playing boys (little league, high school and now college) and the first time we wore your socks (a week ago) was the ONLY time our feet were ever truly warm.
I’m not even exaggerating. Unbelievable. Plan on purchasing whatever else you have! Only looked for socks bc I listen to Chicks on the Right and they told me to get me some! :).
As a transplanted San Diegite, no, San Diegoan, no, San Diegan, in Minnesota, I do not acclimate to the winters quickly. My feet and hands are my Achilles Heels. My first trip out this year I wore my best thermal sock, and still suffered.
Two weeks later, in colder weather, boots covered in snow, I was cold, but my feet weren’t. My feet usually sweat when they get cold, making the cold worse. No sweating, no frozen toes. The only somewhat negative that I could find with these socks is that they slipped down into my boots a little bit after 4 hours of trekking through tall grass covered in snow.
But, still warm feet. These are my new go-to thermal socks.
They are good, not as thick or warm as the Original Crew length socks. The cinching above the ankle and in the arch gets uncomfortable after a while. So I cannot sleep the whole night in them and have to pull them off.
I would like to see a long version of the Original Crew length socks Which would be warmer and not drive me crazy after a few hours. I am sensitive to my socks and would like an option for sensitive people like me.
I gave a pair of these to a housemate and he loves them. He is not sensitive to his clothing. I have worn about 9 different pairs of the men’s Original Crew socks and love them. For sensitive people like me, please give us a choice with long socks.
My feet are narrow, so it is not that the socks are too narrow.
I purchased my first pairs of Heat Holders because my feet are always cold. The socks I’d been wearing had been redesigned and are now very difficult to put on for this old lady. Heat Holders slip on with no tugging and keep my feet cozy.
The heavy ones are great with my Birkenstock sandals; the lighter ones are still very warm and fit into my shoes and boots. Not only that, but they’re comfortable on the foot irritated by sciatica. I have only one suggestion to make them better: Please mark them in some way so I can tell my heavy pairs from my medium pairs from my light pairs more easily.
I have very cold hands and feet. The only time my feet are warm is when I am outside in 90+ degree weather. These socks have been a life changer keeping my feet warm. These socks are very comfortable.
They are made well. The seams are comfortable and do not put pressure on my toes as most socks. I love I can wear these ultralights and wear shoes. I wear the thicker socks around the house without shoes.

Bought two pair last year to try them out. these Polarforce Socks kept my feet warm all day working out in the Field at the Plant. I would recommend them to anyone that works outdoors for a living. they have held up were other socks have fallen to the wayside in warmth and wear&tear.

Best diabetic socks for nerve pain I am type 1 diabetic woman, and was searching for socks that are not tight since I have to wear them 24/7. Because of nerve pain/sensitivity in my feet, I have tried every brand I could afford.
The only ones that worked for me are no longer available, and my socks were literally rags. Most socks are very stretchy, but that causes the toe area to end up being too tight because they are made for 2-4 various sizes.
I tried these socks for men so that they would run larger, and was amazed at the softness, and comfort. but the size I first ordered stretched again too tightly in the toes. So I ordered again. this time a seemingly much bigger size.
I received them, and am sooooo grateful and thankful to have found THE PERFECT socks. Loose all over, but stay in place. highly comfortable. and such a great quality and price. Being excited over socks is funny, except that I have suffered so much nerve pain for a long time.
One less thing to deal with with a disease feels almost like a miracle❣.
Finally! A Diabetic sock that fits AND isn’t knee high!! Gonna gush a bit here. I LOVE these socks. I have gone through so many different drug store, super store and brand name socks and not one of them did I feel comfortable in.
Either they were knee high and made my feet hot because of how thick they were, or they were labelled as my size (m 13) but didn’t fit comfortably. I pretty much gave up on socks and went barefoot and as you know, most Doctors are not going to be on board with you running around with bare feet with Diabetes.
Then I saw these and thought, “Alright. Let’s see if these are any good” They are. They fit beautifully. They don’t bind. They don’t squeeze my toes. They aren’t as thick as two pairs of work socks. I can wear them with shorts and not feel 80 yrs old.
6 pairs for this price is a pretty sweet deal and I will definitely order more. So should you. Absolute five star product.
I have been dealing with very painful neuropathy. My feet, legs and ankles have been very swollen. I can not put on tight compression socks. I needed something that would help control my swelling and the pain I was dealing with.
I bought a size larger than I would usually wear. I figured if I could not put the socks on, they would definitely not work. I was apprehensive but was so pleased when I was able to put both socks on my feet.
The relief I felt was immediate. The pain has been reduced considerably. I wear the socks pretty much around the clock. I am going to buy a pair of the taller crew socks. The ones I have are very comfortable.
I recommend these socks to anyone who has a variety of foot problems. They have made a big difference in my life.
My first Sealskinz purchase was a pair of these socks, that was around 2019. They are amazing. I wear them in all weather, hot or cold, inside my MX boots. The material provides a nice buffer between the hard shell of the boots and my feet.
I never receive blisters. Thats obviously a side benefit, the true benefit is that for cold riding -18C right up to any warmer temperature, the socks are in my opinion the most versatile baselayer for your feet.
In extreme cold I am typically fine, my feet will ‘feel’ the cold at speeds of 120kph inside my knee high motorcycle boots but I will be comfortable for an entire days riding. I would expect this applies to snowmobiling as well.
My feet never sweat, the socks will also stay fresh for a few days if you let them entirely dehumidify or dry out overnight. I will take two pair on long adv rides as it’s normal to do a water crossing or few during the day, my feet remain dry but the entirety of the boot and socks exterior will be soaked.
I will wash them in a sink and hang them to dry overnight or by a fire or simply lay them out in the sun at base camp while I am out riding in my backup pair. I have been meaning to try it but just haven’t yet, I am pretty sure if you walked into an icy pool of water wearing only the socks I would be confident my feet would remain dry and warm.
I have since purchased the extreme cold full head gaitor and the extreme cold fusion gloves, both of which work as promised.
I have size 7. 5 women’s feet and tried on the size small. I did not find them very comfortable – they feel restrictive. Maybe they were slightly too short, but they also don’t conform to the bend in my ankle/heel or have much give in the toebox and they are not soft.
The feeling is hard to describe but it doesn’t feel like fabric but maybe multiple layers of really densely woven synthetic sock with a non-stretchy core, and kinda sticky. I thought I would only really choose to wear them over normal socks if there was an absolute downpour, and I would still be noticing them on my feet in a sensory way.
The neon yellow color I really like, though, for cycling and visibility. I did not end up keeping them as I tried on a pair of small Dex socks also from REI with wool lining, and they were much more comfortable, foot/ankle-forming and felt almost like normal socks.
There may have been a price difference but if the difference is wanting to wear a sock versus avoiding wearing a sock I think it’s worth it. Granted, I did *not* try these in inclement weather so I can’t speak to the effectiveness of either sock.
We took waterproof socks to walk the Camino in northern Spain. April, cool weather, frequent rain — just the sort of conditions they claim to be designed for. I had a different brand; my wife had Sealskinz.
Both pairs unused, new, pristine. On the first day of soaking rain, my feet stayed dry but hers were soaked. The insides of her Sealskinz were as wet as if she had been wearing normal socks. True, her pair might have been defective, but even considering the mixed reviews here, we’ll return them and avoid Sealskinz from now onl.

Stay warm on the chilliest days with these thermal socks!.
These socks are not all that soft and the material is so cheap. The pictures make them look high quality, but that is not how they are in real life. The inside material is the worst. They are going back.
I’m also surprised at the price for how cheaply made they are.
The lining in these socks are so soft and warm. I bought one pair for a stocking stuffer for my husband this Christmas because he was complaining about having cold feet. He loved them and raved about them.

WOW, I’m new to compression socks. I purchased these for a 12-Hour Walk for which I was preparing and loved them! I don’t usually like things tight to my body. I was floored at how comfortable they remained as well as how quickly I recovered.
Now I won’t go out without compression socks when I go on long walks or hikes. I may start wearing them to Pickleball as well. Thank you CEP Compression!.
My Occupational Therapist suggest that I wear these compression socks to keep the swelling down in my legs. I have to admit, (not being used to wearing compression socks) when I started to put them on, I thought i was going to be miserable, as they are so tight! I had a hard time getting them past my heels! But once I got both of them on-I totally forgot I was even wearing them! Very comfy & lightweight! LOVE the Hot Pink ones I picked out!.
Only support stocking I wear. great for running and recovery, but I wear these to work every day! My legs always feel fres and ready to go. I love the ultralight compression socks. I live in Florida and these are perfect for that “warm” weather in the summer.
I have been a user of CEP for 7 years, have run 30 marathons and countless 1/2 marathons and have never had a calf, foot or leg problem because of CEP!.

These are the most comfortable socks that I have work for years. I have to wear socks with a high wool content, and these wide fitting socks are excellent. The neck of the sock expands much more than any others I have work, making them much easier to get on and off.
As a type 2 diabetic also suffering from arthritis, this wide neck is exactly what I needed. At the price, they are also exceptional value for money for a sock of this type. Universal Textiles service is prompt and efficient, and their customer service is second to none.
I would strongly recommend these socks for their design, manufacture, comfort and price.
Delivered on time. Socks were well packed and arrived in excellent condition. Looks like they will wear and wash well. Many thanks for these very useful items. My husband is well pleased. Best wishes for your continued success.
Brilliant! Anyone that suffers from Edema (water retention) within the legs these are a must. The circular dent around the legs left by conventional sock almost disappear, or disappears completely depending on the amount of swelling in legs of the individual.
Live Life Comfortably in Bearpaw! Fashion and comfort come together in these super soft thermal slipper socks. Whether sitting by the fire or working from home on a chilly day these thermal socks will keep your feet warm! Brushed terry on the inside makes them super soft on your legs and feet.
Talk about soft! If you love soft socks, you will love these! They are thick, but not to the point of being bulky. The insides of these almost look unfinished, the fibers are long. Pattern is what I would expect on a warm winter sock.
My only minor complaint is the opening size, when pulled all the way up are slightly tight.

The socks have a height of 9 cm from the ankle up.
The socks could be cooler, they look too thick. In addition, although I wear 46 the heel is not in place, reaching the shin of the leg. If I knew they were like that I would have asked for the number below.
Seamlessly warm feet – All Mountain Long Socks The new All Mountain Long Socks warm for women do more than just keep your feet warm with their soft merino wool, seamless circular knit and special knitted construction.

A warm solution for winter layering, these socks are the first step to prep for cold winter cycling. For cycling outdoors in winter, layering is everything, and staying dry from the inside and the outside is as important as hitting the right note of insulation.
The fiber blend used here adds the stretch and moisture management of synthetics to the superior insulation properties of wool. A photoluminescent stripe maintains low-light visibility, and a shock of blue across the arch and forefoot is a beacon while searching an otherwise all-black wardrobe.
Polyester and wool blend maintains the best qualities of both for a fiber with stretch-and-return properties, breathability, odor resistance, and the ability to stay warm even when wet. STL (Spot The Light) incorporates photoluminescent threads to add light to your pedal stroke in low-light conditions.
Seamless construction provides a frictionless fit that wraps in gently compressive support, preventing slumping or restrictive pinching at the cuff.
Winter riding is all about Long, Slow, Distance so I found myself on the outer edge of Richmond Park one winter’s day in 2021 about to plough my way up Kingston Hill when I suddenly realised that I couldn’t feel my toes.
My feet were freezing. It was a miserable experience. On returning home, I jumped onto the Sigma Sports website determined to never had such a miserable experience again and as ever, Assos was the go-to brand.
The Ultraz range drew me in and I made the purchase. Best decision ever. ust the right thickness but warm as toast. I went out the following weekend and teamed the socks with the excellent Assos overshoes and the cold was banished.
The socks have lasted me into a chilly Spring and I would thoroughly recommend them – Assos is a class apart. Perfection!.
I bought 2 pairs of these socks and I liked them so much I bought another 2 pairs. The fit is excellent and I like reflective yarns used on the rear of the sock ( additional safety feature). These socks are aimed at spring and autumn , the cooler months , but living in Scotland I think I will be able to use them into summer.
They do offer more warmth than Assos summer socks. I love them.
Socks are important for keeping feet warm and dry. They help to insulate the feet and protect them from the elements. Socks are made from a variety of materials, including wool, cotton, and synthetic fibers.
The type of sock you choose should be based on the climate and the activity you will be doing. For example, thicker socks made from wool or synthetic materials are better for cold weather, while thinner socks made from cotton are better for warmer weather.
Socks are also important for preventing blisters. When your feet are constantly rubbing against shoes, socks help to reduce friction and protect the skin. Choose socks that fit well and are made from a breathable material to help keep your feet dry and comfortable.
