20 Best Place To Order Alaskan King Crab (2023 Updated)

Have to honestly say this was absolutely the BEST King Crab I’ve had. I have been ordering from AKC for some time now-and decided for this order I would go with the pre-cut super colossal King Crab legs.

Why? I wanted to see for myself if they were as good as advertised. I’ve ordered the Super Colossal King Crab legs, Jonah Crab Claws, lobster tails and even the various types of salmon offered on AKC.

They were all really good but with the exception of the salmon required a lot of work to get to the meat. I baked the pre-cut Colossal Crab Legs per AKC instructions and only changed the spices I used – sprinkled only OLD BAY SPICE on to the legs and in to the water, baked/steamed in industrial restaurant 6” deep metal stainless steel tray and fitted lid – used about 1 1/2” of water in bottom of tray and rested the legs on a perforated tray – defrosted legs in fridge over nite – baked 4 lbs.

of pre-cut king crab legs at 450 (not recommended 350) for 15 minutes – they did NOT dry out – the water in bottom of tray kept the meat very moist and tender!!!! See the two attached pics – this is what they looked like when they were served up for dinner this evening.

Best part was getting to the moist succulent meat with almost no effort at all – have to say once again I loved every bite – as did my family! No waisted meat – easy to clean up and am looking forward to the next time.

Now, I will only go with pre-cut Super Colossal Crab legs – AKC has taken all the hard effort out of eating King Crab by offering pre-cut king crab legs – pricey – yes; BUT WORTH EVERY DOLLAR SPENT AND THEN SOME!!!!! Oh My God! they were good!.

I ordered “Colossal Red King Crab Legs” for Valentines Day dinner, what I received was a huge disappointment. The description on this product says the size should be “3/4 lb to 1 lb per leg, Colossal”, upon opening my box I was extremely shocked at the size I received.

The legs were small in comparison to others I have had in the past, in addition I had THREE claw ends (I am not talking to whole arm plus claw I am talking just the pincher part) PLUS they included a piece of body in my order.

That all said I ended up weighing my order because I wasn’t very happy. Of the 4 legs I got they weighed on average a 1/2 lb. (anywhere from 8. 25 oz to 9oz) – Keep in mind this was frozen weight, i.

e. water weight is also included in that, so these really weighed less. I received a total of 3. 63 lbs of legs and claws, they threw in a body part to make up the 4lbs in weight! Upon contacting customer service (with pictures), they told me each 4lbs order should contain 4-6 legs – well I got 4 legs alright weighing in at 2 lbs!!! They said, “This is a very good looking order of our colossals”, if this is how you bait and switch people sure it might be but I ordered “Colossal King crab LEGS” not body parts, I understand that a claw or two may be thrown in or a piece of a leg to make up the weight but this is pathetic.

NOBODY in their right mind would go to a fish market and pay $66/lb for the scraps I got, they would want ACTUAL legs, the product I make a purchase for. Needless to say Customer Service was worthless and only tried to offer me coupons off a future order which will never happen.

The legs were also very salty, I don’t know who is cooking these but they need to lay off the salt. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Wanted to do something special for my husband. There was a glitch with the first order as apparently the address was wrong, so they sat on the truck in 98 degree weather for an extra day. Did not get a full refund but lesson learned.

They gave me 50% off so I ordered again and this time no glitches. We cooked them up with our shrimp boil and they were delicious. My son in law said it was the best crab he ever had. Sure beat those skinny little legs you get in the store.

My one granddaughter tore into it. She lovers her seafood. I would definitely order again but wait till cooler weather.

I am 67 years old and stopped buying canned crab because I was always disappointed in the product and ammonia smell. So glad after all these years I have finally found a good canned crab! Buy it, you won’t be disappointed!!!!.

Thursday, April 21, 2011, spent the day fishing the Gulf of Maine for cod. I am a great believer is scent when it comes to down to catching any kind of fish, from catfish to cod or haddock! This was my first experiment using Fishbite products when deep-sea fishing for ground fish.

Since I would be jigging for cod in over 250 feet of water, I opted to use Fishbite’s longer lasting version of scented bait, since it was suppose to stay on the hook longer and be less likely to be nibbled off by any fish.

For the bait to be “nibbled off the hook” when jigging, was not a factor to be taken into consideration, but having the scented bait stay on the hook for longer periods of time, was a prime consideration.

I was impressed with this Fishbite product! The scented bait appears to be molded into a guze=like material that is VERY STRONG! Once the strip of Fishbite was impaled on a hook, IT STAYED THERE and was even difficult to take off the hook, hours later.

I used a 3. 5 inch strip of Fishbite impaled on a jig and a shrimp imitation teaser to add scent to my terminal jigging rig. The combination worked for me, for I limited out on cod! Scented sauces, sprayed on scents, and oil-type of scent baits tend to wash off the jigs and teasers quickly.

and they can make a slippery mess on a boat deck or any surface. Not a Fishbite product! Fishbite scented baits are NOT expensive and are surely worth a try. Semper Fi, Captain.

Added this along with fresh bait to hold it on and worked really well. The texture was definitely gross after sitting in the water for a while but over all, very well made.

I’ve been using Fishbites for many years now with great results! It stays on the hook very well (crab meat is among the hardest to keep on a hook especially when casting), releases a good scent in the water, and it actually catches fish when compared to the real thing! I use the white Crab in the Longer Lasting scent formula and I catch Spot, Croaker, White Perch, Spadefish, Whiting, Speckled Trout, Ladyfish, and on occasion Striped Bass.

IF you cant net live bait early in the morning or youre just making a quick trip to the surf, this is the next best thing. Fishbites are easy to cut and handle. They stay on for a long time, even through multiple fish if you’re lucky.

for the price, cant beat this on artificial cut bait.

I’ve tried them before and loved the experience of eating succulent, juicy Alaskan King Crabs. This Christmas, instead of gifting things that I’m not sure the receivers will fully appreciate, I gifted them the experience of Alaskan King Crab legs.

I sent them packages to my sister and my mother. They both received it well packaged, fresh and still frozen. They cooked them for their Christmas meals and kept raving about them. They love seafood and all different kinds of crab but these Alaskan King Crabs are at a different level! We received a lot of thanks for the unexpected treat we sent them.

I cant say enough to do the quality of service and product justice! I needed help with a 20 dollar discount and after writing a request for help the discount code was sent to me the same day! The crab kegs arrived 1 day early and were brilliantly packed in insulation and dry ice and would have kept the crab legs fresh for at least several days.

For the crab legs,I have been eating seafood for close to 60 years and have had most every species of crab available. Crab is by far my favorite! Theses crab legs were by far,the Best i have ever had.

I know the difference between fresh and frozen very well. I normally wont eat frozen if i have a choice. I could not tell the difference with these crab legs. They were just as good as fresh! The sweetness,the texture,the smell the looks,everything about these crab legs said FRESH! They were the best of the best and worth every penny.

The website is great. You can find all the info needed to ensure you prepare the crab legs perfectly. There are recipes for dipping sauces 3 of which I used and were amazing. Like I said,I cant say enough to do Alaskan King Crab Company justice.

I strongly recommend to anyone who loves seafood,especially Alaskan King Crab as much as I do to give it a try. You’ll swear you are eating crab that was just caught.

Ordered 10 pounds in addition to leftovers from retirement party last year. Leftovers have been in freezer since August 2020 and tasted just as fresh as the ones I just received. 12 guys, 17 pounds of king crab, 15 pounds of prime, dry aged ribeye steaks and God only knows how many bottles of Scotch.

all that was left was the mess! Big, sweet and cooked perfectly; Not sure about the “salty” complaints. after all, they do come from the ocean, lol!.

I know it was only ten pounds of crab, but it seemed like more than that. We used some for Thanksgiving appetizers, and saved some for Christmas Appetizers. The crab legs were huge. We steamed them, and the meat was super succulent, juicy, and very flavorful.

We loved them!.

I’ve been a fine dining Chef for over 35 years. A bought ten pounds of Red Crab. Best leg meat ratio to ponds per I’ve seen in 20 years! The dam clusters where a meal with just 2! Hope to be able to soon again soon.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. We decided to try these snow crab legs cold to have on a salad and as a sandwich. We let them thaw in the fridge for 24 hours like it suggested.

I really was excited to see that the bag did not leak while thawing. Once we started the tedious process of harvesting the meat we could tell that all of the snow crab legs were of very good quality.

We did use kitchen shears to make the process a bit easier. The thing I was most impressed with was the flavor of the meat and how tender it was. It was very apparent that they seasoned the water they pre cooked these snow crab legs in very well.

This is usually an area of concern when you buy pre cooked and then frozen seafood. I would definitely purchase again when we are looking to have snow crab legs at home.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. My husband grew up in Virginia Beach so he has enjoyed crab legs for most of his life. I bought the 2lb Member’s Mark Snow Crab legs from Sam’s Club for $25 (normally $45).

This was a great price. They’re already cooked so it didn’t take very long for my husband to grill them. They had a good sweet flavor and weren’t very salty. There were a few loose legs, but the clusters were a good size.

While we didn’t weigh the package, it seemed like there was a little more than 2lbs in the bag. My husband and boys really enjoyed the crab legs. However, my husband said it would have been better if the packaging had multiple ways of preparing them hot.

Excellent. The crab legs were the best I’ve ever had and living in coastal Fla. For 20 yrs. , I’ve eaten thousands. They were huge in size and easily cracked. Even the meat in the body was sweet and fresh tasting( usually not the case, if the legs are not perfectly fresh the body meat will taste fishy) I have ordered from other companies and have not been as satisfied as I have with Ocean Side.

They are my go to company for all of my seafood cravings. They get a 100 star rating from me!!!.

I was genuinely disappointed in my mail order. The crab legs were all broken up. Nothing like the product I got from the truck, which was perfect. I’ll stick to purchasing whole legs from the truck from now on.

This was my first time buying any kind of frozen food online and it was a success! The crab was WAY better than anything we can buy in landlocked Colorado. We will purchase again from these fine folks.

Was so looking forward to receiving this little jar filled with crab. Mighty Ape was, like always, Mighty Good at delivering this item the next day. All I can say is that it is an acquired taste and not to my liking.

I ordered six 8 to 10 ounce frozen Maine Lobsters for a dinner birthday party I was having last week. They arrived in a timely manner and were packaged with plenty of dried ice to keep them properly refrigerated.

I was disappointed that the Lobsters were not the same size and that two of them were not even 8 ounces and that they had the back parts of the tail , broken off , on both. As mentioned, I ordered the 8 ounce to 10 ounce size.

It really would have been nice if they all had weighed in at around 9 ounces and we’re in better condition. I spent more than $260. 00. I do not feel the value was there. For that price I should have received better quality and larger lobsters, not the minimum or below minimum in size.

The tails were very consistent in size. And the flavor was good. Differently NE Atlantic lobster. They got here in great shape still frozen. Had some just last nite. Thank you. A very expensive meal and worth it.

Ordered these lobster tails in addition to other items. The only issue was they were no longer frozen when it. arrived. So they need to be eaten the same day. It was a gift for my husband and son‘s birthday, so they thoroughly enjoyed eating these along with the live Maine lobster.

Chasebaits Smash Crab Junior – 2.95 in. When the snooks do not want to bite, you work it slowly with few movements and it is very effective. Ideal in clear and flat waters where you can see the fish.

Bream are clambering over themselves to put this bait in their guts, deadly when worked along rock walls and around pontoon/jetty. It takes a flogging and doesn’t need a lot of action.

I have a Yeti problem: I just can’t stop. Why do I need more than one Rambler or more than one cooler? Because new colors! Because nothing on the market compares to Yeti, in my opinion, and they’re good investments.

I have the Haul and the 45, oh and the Soft 12. They each have a purpose and my justification for this Roadie was that since it was hard sided, it would be good for solo trips where ice would need to be retained for longer than one day (boo I’m looking at you, Soft 12!), but it needed to be more transportable than the 45 when alone.

The hard coolers obviously keep ice better and for that it can have five stars, but transportable? Definitely not. The short strap along with the size of the cooler when full makes this painful to carry.

I bring this sucker into hotels with me and I strap it to my luggage and roll it in. It hits the side of your body when you try to carry it and it’s just so awkward and uncomfortable. The strap hurts my hand.

To be fair, you knew that before purchasing. You also knew that there was no drain plug and I didn’t think I’d care, but after lifting it in hotel bathtubs to empty water and add more ice, it’s a pain.

So: while this does a great job at retaining ice for trips where you don’t need as much cooler space, the awkward maneuverability and the lack of a drain plug make it cumbersome to work with. I understand that a drain plug would take up valuable space in an already tiny cooler, but tipping it is too hard.

They could add a mini drain plug.

I purchased this cooler in Oct. 2021 for traveling to my camper in the mountains on the weekends. I typically stay 1 or 2 nights. My other cooler (different brand name) would allow food items (closest to the top) to spoil while sitting in the hot car during the day while at work.

A contractor friend of mine told me how well his Yeti cooler kept ice & drinks cold in his work truck, even during the summer. I decided to finally buy a Yeti. So far, I have been very pleased with this cooler.

I typically use reusable ice packs. I’ll place 1 in the cooler the night before use, then remove it and place 2 ice packs from the freezer. Next, I’ll place my food items in the cooler. The inside of the cooler gets slightly smaller from top to bottom.

After a day or two, the ice packs are still frozen, with very little defrosting. I have really been surprised at how long the ice packs keep the inside of the cooler cold. I do not foresee having any items spoil inside this cooler near the top like my old cooler did.

I will be using this cooler to keep cold drinks inside the car while traveling on vacations as well. Very heavy duty cooler. I should have bought this cooler years ago!.

Great cooler as far as stays cold on hot days if prepped probably. Even on the boat or at all day lax tournaments. Holds enough to have what you need without lugging a big cooler around. For tournaments which typically is an all day all weekend thing it will retain ice for the 3 days maybe 1 refill in there depending on temperature.

I usually keep a larger cooler in the truck (60) and refill this one as needed. Gave 3 stars cause it’s just a little to heavy to carry around and alse awkward to carry. Works great as a seat or footstool perfect height.

It’s just a dam pain to carry def like the old style with metal handle better. I ended up purchasing a small foldable hand truck wich I Bungie to as well as a chair for mobile days and works great. Also this cooler fits perfect right behind the center console in a quad or crew cab truck.

Louis Kemp is King when it comes to imitation crab!! Yummy bargain! I always add a little sweetener and Old Bay seasoning to mine! In SoCal we used to be able to get seafood cocktails in little fancy jars at every supermarket or corner store.

So now I make my own by added cocktail sauce I make myself with horseradish, diced celery and and catsup (sugar free for me =} I also flake it by cutting off the end of the bag then rolling it with a rolling pin back and forth then make crab cakes.

You can use any recipe but I line using All Bran cereal the kind that are like pellets no sugar and roll them in a bag also. That way its even more nutritious with the added fiber and I bake or air fry them so they’re fat free and low cal.

Great for dinner or snacks and yuu can even freeze them. =} Its all good in the Baja Kitchen!! lol.

The best We honestly buy at least 3-4 packs a week We make ceviche with it and it always comes out so good. Please do not stop selling Walmart. Literally the only place we know that sells and has a great taste.

tastes great and I’m so relieved to finally get a soy free option! with all the estrogen in soy products I end up with hormonal acne and it sucks. so I try to avoid eating it because it makes a difference.

These are a healthy alternative to red meat or chicken. Nicely flavored with a bit of sweetness. Pollock is not fishy so adding the flavor of shellfish made it quite tasty. Its great for a salad and I’ve used it in stir fries.

The price is good as well. Will continue to use it. Today’s menu has crab fried rice.

Was expecting the best but Tasted oxidized and meat was soft. I did not thaw. Went from freezer to steamer. I promise I did not overcook. since it wasn’t exceptional the rest will be used for seafood gumbo.

I order king crab3-4 times per year via internet sources. Would not get yours again.

We ordered 2 lbs of Alaskan King Crab legs and were happy with the number of legs and that they were pre-split. But after steaming them we found that the meat had freezer burn on the ends of all of the legs.

You could tell as that part of the crab meat was discolored. How old were the crab legs? We will not be ordering these again.

I read some reviews before posting mine. I wanted you to know, if you are expecting real crab meat, you will be disappointed. BUT, if you know what imitation crab meat is, it’s one of the best. I’m pretty picky, even for imitation crab meat.

It’s a great value because at my current store in the ATL area you can get this for $5. 99. If you go to a regular store here, you would pay $3. 99 on up for 16 oz. It’s great to use in Salads and I make a crab salad that’s great on a salad OR a sub.

I’ve even made Crab Alfredo! Definitely a repeat purchase for me!.

I don’t understand why there are so many great reviews. I currently get my imitation crab from my local asian market and they taste very much like crab. I thought to give these a try the last time I was at Sam’s because of price.

I was disappointed. They are very bland tasting at best. They might be okay in a salad where they taste like the salad dressing or maybe to add a meaty texture to soups and sauces. I will not be purchasing these again.

I use to buy this 2 packs at a time at least twice a mth. But the last five times I’ve purchased this, it has been bad. Ive also waited a mth or so before buying again thinking it was a bad shipment but no it’s gross now.

It’s slimy and has a terrible smell. Ive thrown it out each time. So i will never buy again.
