There are a few different types of outdoor security cameras that work with Alexa. One type is the Blink XT2, which is a battery-powered camera that can be used wirelessly. Another type is the Arlo Pro 2, which is a wired camera that can be used with or without an AC adapter.
20 Best Outdoor Security Cameras That Work With Alexa
1. Wyze Cam V3 with Color Night Vision, 1080p HD Indoor/Outdoor Video Camera, 2-Way Audio, Compatible with Alexa, Google Assistant, and Ifttt, 2-Pack
The Wyze Cam v3 is the 3rd generation of Wyze’s flagship camera, the Wyze Cam v2. Like its predecessor, the Wyze Cam v3 lets you see and record 1080p video right from the Wyze mobile app. New to the Wyze Cam v3 is its water-resistant design allowing for outdoor installation with an IP65 rating.
The Wyze Cam v3 also takes advantage of an all-new Starlight Sensor which allows for extreme low-light performance and shows great detail in the dark. With the Wyze Cam v3’s color night vision, night time video recording appears as if it’s day time.
## What’s free and what requires a monthly fee Wyze seems to change their free features often, so this information may soon become outdated, but from what I understand, here is currently what you get free (as of September 2022).
What’s included free: – A snapshot image sent as a push notification to your phone, any time motion occurs – A 5-minute “cool-down” period before you receive a notification of the next motion event – Same with sound detection – On-device Smoke and CO alarm sound detection with push notification – Viewing motion clips from a microSD card (not included) What requires the cheaper monthly plan (Cam Plus Lite, name-your-price for now): – 12-second video clips stored in the cloud (this was previously free, but is no longer) – Person detection What requires the more expensive monthly plan (Cam Plus, about $2/month per camera): – Unlimited video length – No “cool-down” period – Package detection – Vehicle detection – Pet detection – Web viewer ## Design The Wyze Cam v3 maintains its simple “box” design of the earlier versions.
It has a magnetic, extendable base that makes it easy to mount to something like your refrigerator or a metal pole and point it at your target area. The Wyze Cam is powered by a Micro USB cable and a 5V 1A power supply (included).
## Performance The low light performance of the Wyze Cam v3 is very impressive! If there is enough ambient light (like from street lights), it can give you “color night vision”. However, if the area is pitch black (like a basement at night), then you can use the infrared night vision which is in black and white, but extends far enough for a medium to large-sized room.
One of my favorite features of the Wyze Cam is that you can insert a microSD card (not included) and continuously record, kind of like your own closed-circuit security DVR system. Unfortunately, using the app to navigate through the timeline is a little cumbersome and slow and it takes some time to find the spot you’re looking for.
And the one caveat is that if someone steals the camera, they have your microSD card with all the footage as well. The camera also has a small built-in siren that you can sound whenever you see something suspicious going on.
It’s not ear-piercing, but should be enough to let someone nearby know that someone is watching them. ## Longevity I actually had the very first generation of the Wyze Cam and found that it did its job very well and it was cool to watch the company grow, but at the same time, I felt like every few months there was some new kind of “drama” associated with this inexpensive security camera with features being discontinued and urgent firmware updates needing to be installed.
I can’t really be too upset with the company because the hardware is inexpensive and I believe the company generally has good intentions and they, of course, need to sustain their business model. Just be aware that you may need to read some long emails to try and figure out how to keep your camera and its features working and that the cameras may eventually “expire” after a few years and no longer receive security updates.
This is true for any piece of technology that connects to the internet and is not specific to Wyze Cam. ## Summary If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to check-in on your home when you’re away, the Wyze Cam is easy to set up, and they’re cheap enough to buy in multiples.
You may also want to invest in a microSD card for each camera if you would prefer to use local storage and/or don’t want to pay for monthly cloud storage.
Received 3 Wyze V3 cameras in July of 2021 as a gift. No technology you buy is by any means perfect and these are no exception, HOWEVER for the price these are GREAT little cameras and the night vision is very nice.
I have wanted something like these for a long time but all the other companies were too expensive for their equipment and then the monthly fee and that was not possible for me for what I wanted them for.
These suit my purposes just fine of just being able to see who (or what) is around all hours of the day and night. I purchased separately the Wyze 32 gig SD cards and have one installed and set on continuous record on each camera so when the 12 seconds notification is up I can hit the playback button if I want and see what happened before or after and you have the option to record that to your phone if needed to save it for later.
No need to take out the SD card from the camera as when the card is full it just starts over on its own re-writing on the oldest data and that is fine with me. I would recommend getting the SD cards in the V3 cameras and set them to continuous record.
I live where its cold, sometimes below zero, and the snow blows, these cameras are outside and under an open porch roof or overhang so somewhat protected and they worked well through their first winter.
These do not run on a battery, you will need to plug them in somehow, I have ground fault outlets on my open air porches and so far haven’t had a problem. These cameras also have a two way speaker and “siren”, not perfect but do “work” and I have turned the microphone on while watching LIVE and told the raccoons to “scat” when they were on my back patio, cheap entertainment.
LOL. The siren just made the one raccoon more curious, come closer and look up at the camera, maybe it just sounded like a wounded animal to the raccoon. I would like to get a few more of these V3 cameras for the areas I can’t see and to put one to view the bird feeders.
You can also watch what is happening LIVE and that could be fun for the bird feeder. You could also share for example that camera on the bird feeder with your housebound friend or relative that lives elsewhere and the LIVE feature is nice for that.
The easiest they could do that (in my opinion) is with a smart phone and the wyze app, I am not very techy to figure out anything else. Now the downside. Overall easy to set up, but it took me a few times to get it done.
At this time I would not rely on these for a business security cameras or high crime areas where you depend highly on these cameras for security. They are great little cameras with a good picture for the price, but if you need to zoom in to try and read a license plate, or see a face more clearly that is not within just a few feet of the camera to help in a criminal case, you will be disappointed.
I will also add I have nothing to compare these with other brands, but this is my observation with these. I have been “fumbling” around with different settings in each camera, which is done through the Wyze app.
Trying different angles of the cameras to try and find what works best for each one. The “detection zone” to monitor movement is not perfect when you set areas in each camera to “not to detect” motion in an area is not very good and headlights and their reflections will set off a “motion” for your camera to record even if you think you have that headlight area blocked out, headlights reflect a lot and probably will just have to live with it.
So if you live in a high traffic area, or a corner lot with lots of turning cars and headlights, good luck and realize that is probably how it is going to be. They also will detect motion when tree branches, or shadows of the branches move, or the snow when it comes down or blows will set it off too, lightening storm or whatever moves or changes in lighting will set it off to record.
The people detection is a hit or miss in my experience and you get people detection with what they call Cam Plus Lite and you currently can get that for free or pay whatever price you want. You will need the Cam Plus Lite to see your 12 second videos, otherwise you won’t get video in your notifications and with Lite there is what they call a “5 minute cooldown”, it won’t record any motion on that camera for another 5 minutes, (unless you have installed an SD card and have that set to continuous record).
You can upgrade to Cam Plus for Wyze’s set price and that comes with a few more perks and does not have the “5 minute cooldown” like the Lite version, but that is not something I need at this time. In my notifications it sometimes will say that a person is a “motion” and not a “person”, or one of the neighborhood feral cats sometimes is detected as a “person” and not a “motion”.
This to me is more of a “fun little toy” and not something I have to rely on for protecting say a business from any crime going on and have to rely on for a criminal case. But if I do have any criminal or other issues at my home, hopefully I will have something good enough to help with an investigation.
Also you pretty much have to “play around” with the different settings to see what they do, no real “instructions” on how to use those settings or “tips” on what each one is or suggestions on how to set them that I found.
Can probably find things online if you look. So many people complain on a currently $30 camera with basically no monthly fee unless you choose to pay some in “Lite”. They are not perfect, no piece of technology is, they all can have issues, but for the price I feel it is a decent value, well made and I just try to ignore some things as the camera does serve my purposes as mentioned above.
Been using for over a month now. Very, VERY happy with these! My family uses them to keep an eye on an elderly parent who is recovering from a brain bleed (that I luckily caught quickly before any brain damage occurred), still living independently, and is at increased risk of complications if he hits his head on anything while recovering.
We cannot move in with him and he cannot move in with any of us, so this has been the perfect step for us to take until he is recovered and/or until he needs to be moved to an assisted living facility.
I set up four cameras do we can see him everywhere except in the actual bathrooms; we can see him enter and exit the bathrooms and I live 4 minutes away so if he were to be in the bathroom for an excessively long time (or if we would hear anything that sounds like a crash/fall), I’d be on my way over instantly and could also call 911 on my way if I felt it was needed.
When he had the brain bleed he was TERRIBLY confused and did not think to call anyone for help, nor do I think he would have been able to use the phone…he could barely get out sporadic full sentences at some points (it was very hit or miss) and was aware of some sort of “problem” but definitely couldn’t identify that he was having a medical emergency.
These cameras have brought us tremendous peace of mind, the images are of very good quality when viewing from my smartphone, and I LOVE that I am able to speak through them if he doesn’t answer his phone.
I do wish there was some sort of button he could press to send me a notification that he’d like to talk to one of us, but that’s a whole different service and if he can’t remember how to dial a phone he wouldn’t remember to push the button so we’d have a newly worrisome issue to deal with anyway.
We mostly just use these to check in on him and make sure he hasn’t fallen, but also like knowing that (with the memory cards installed) we would be able to look back on old videos to check for any falls or head bumps (on a door frame or wall, for instance) if he would suddenly show any sign of another brain bleed or any other mental deficit.
(When the doctor asks, “Has he fallen lately or hit his head?”, without these cameras we would have to reply, “I don’t know”, unless he showed physical signs of a bump to his head. That’s not helpful.
These could literally be a lifesaver! (Or a quality of life saver. ) I’d also recommend for keeping an eye on sneaky kids (thinking of putting on in our pantry lol) and diabetic patients who are at higher-than-usual risk of diabetic comas, fall risks, or any other medical, mental health, or behavioral issues.
When he went out of town, we also left them on just in case someone would’ve broken into his house. On occasion, I do get some briefly pixelated images, but I’m thrilled with the setting options and greatly appreciate that they continue recording as soon as they detect motion.
They detect and begin recording very quickly too, which I have found impressive. The annual cost for four cameras at this quality and with these options is very reasonable as well. They’ve also had many updates which I’m happy to see because it shows the company is keeping up with these cameras.

Every Detail Matters: See the difference with 2K resolution and keep an eye on what’s happening outside with more clarity than ever before.
Im honestly very happy with this security camera it does an excellent job of letting me know when someones on or around my property. Ive had it for a while now and i havnt come across any issues. The reason chose this cam is because of the 2k quality feature and its long lasting storage space both have been incredibly helpful the quality is fantastic its so clear that i am able to make out faces from a distance day or night and as advertised the storage lasts about two months before i clear the space allowing more space again which i dont mind because there are no monthly fees that im obligated to pay for if i domt want to.
The security app is very fast and easy to use, the sound and quality work great and the battery life is a defenite plus for me especially with it being wireless. The recording captures everything i need it to even faces from far away.
I was worried about getting this camera because of all the neighborhood cats that roam by my house at night but i have not gotten any annoying alerts about them. I reccomend this camera i think its a great choice if your looking for something to save money with great quality.
Blink Outdoor is a wireless battery-powered HD security camera that helps you monitor your home day or night with infrared night vision. With long-lasting battery life, Outdoor runs for up to two years on two AA lithium batteries (included).
Store video clips and photos in the cloud with the Blink Subscription Plan and save events locally to the Blink Sync Module 2 via a USB flash drive (sold separately). Outdoor is built to withstand the elements to help you protect your home inside or out, come rain or shine.
Designed so you can set up yourself in minutes. No wiring, no professional installation required. Get motion detection alerts on your phone with the option to customize motion zones in the Blink Home Monitor app so you’re only alerted when you need to be.
See, hear, and speak to visitors with live view in real time and two-way audio features on your Blink app. Works with Alexa – use your voice to monitor your home through supported Alexa-enabled devices.
Includes three Blink Outdoor cameras and one Sync Module 2.
Two super bright, adjustable LEDs for a combined 2600 lumens of light, and a handy dimming option where less brightness is desired. Three individually controlled PIR sensors provide for 270 degrees of customizable motion detection.
Range and sensitivity are adjustable up to 30 feet. Built in Wyze Cam v3 provides sound detection, as well as artificial intelligence and the ability to identify and record motion, with or without the floodlight, in 1080p Full HD with Starlight Sensor color night vision.
Dusk to Dawn automation. Wyze Cam Floodlight knows when the sun is down and when it’s up. No need to turn the floodlight on or off once it’s connected. 90dB Siren for increased deterrence and a speaker with two-way audio to communicate with anyone outside through the Wyze app.
Flood light coverage – Covers a wide angle and lights up our entire back yard which is a medium size back yard by California standards. Brightness – Very bright but can also be changed in settings which I havent done yet but like the option.
It scares the cats and possom away and we can see the entire backyard with minimal dark spots. Maneuverability – We wanted to light up the back yard from intruders but didnt want to blind the neighbors when a stray cat walks by.
The flexibility of the lights allows us to accomplish that. Sensor sensitivity – There are options to use the camera or onboard sensor to trigger the light. This is something we are still playing with but all the options are nice.
We currently set it up to trigger when camera detects movement in certain zones and it is doing the job well. The camera is excellent and having the extra port to connect our other camera gave us all we wanted.
Finally Wyze came out with a flood light cam. It’s really nothing more than a Wyze cam V3 outdoor paired with a flood light which is kinda brilliant as the two separate components can be replaced if needed separately.
I have up PTZ when i decided to use this camera but due to Wyze functionality being superior to almost all others in this price point i thought I’d give it a try. My biggest issue with the others was connectivity issues and recording flaws.
Wyze has won me over and i have prior to buying this cam used many other PTZ units by Wyze. Support however is the worst i have ever encountered. Conundrum anyone?!.
It has over this first week of use exceeded my expectations. My wife belives I’m hardly handy at home maintenance. I’d say I’m as handy as a foot. The installation was so easy! The instructions and design made it so.
I would like it if there was a way to snooze the lights and/or camera for up to a few hours. Sometimes we grill or sit around the lights activation zone and the only option instead of snooze is to shut it down.
then forget to turn it back on. A small nit-pick. Not worth a star from this great product.
RLC-410W outdoor camera with 2560×1440 high resolution captures more beautiful and smoother 4-megapixel live video streaming and clips than 720p and 1080p cameras. It sees your home security more clearly.
By freely switching between 2. 4 GHz and 5 GHz (5. 8 GHz) frequency bands, RLC-410W provides higher performance for camera networking and much easier network setup. You can not only replay saved videos to find key information but also filter the video by detection modes and control the timeline to quickly locate what you want to see.
Check your home situation when you’re on the journey, or see what’s up with your kids when you’re busy in the kitchen, with audio recording. Reolink firmware update for IP security cameras is very easy, download firmware on the firmware page and update the firmware on the client software.
For what I wanted it for as a remote camera with power but no internet it was extremely difficult to set up. I had to set it up via a router then converted over to a hot spot, it cannot be set up wirelesssly per the hot spot you want it to run off of.
plus I had to format a SD card and that was not easy to do either. Once I got it set up how I wanted it I think its going to work for my purpose. The directions they send with the camera are not very good nor are the on line directions for how I wanted to use it.
I do think the quality of the camera is very good and the video is very good, as is the price point. It does not appear to to pick up objects that are traveling a high rate of speed like over 5 mph. I think this is the only camera on the market that can be used the way I am using it, at a entry gate.
There is no internet, I do have power, saves video to an SD card and I can down load the videos off the SD card on my cell phone if the phone has terthering capabilities. Once its set up via a router, then the phone, the hotspot on the phone communicates with the camera and you can look at the SD card or live video to adjust if you are within 10 feet or so of the camera.
Rating is based on my “remote” type application and set up. Terry.
See, hear, and speak to visitors in real time with 1080p HD live view and two-way audio from the app. Light up the night with 700 lumens of motion-triggered, high-quality LED lights. Customize motion detection zones, enable alerts, and set lights to trigger from the free Blink Home Monitor app on your smartphone.
Set up yourself in minutes — connect Outdoor to wifi and follow in-app instructions. Mount where you want with the included kit (hook included for no drill installation on vinyl siding). Works with Alexa – use your voice to monitor your home with live view, motion alerts, and activate lights with select Alexa devices.
This Blink Outdoor 3rd generation with floodlight is exactly what I was looking for to mount on my barn. Included in the box is the camera, sync module 2, the floodlight, a mounting bracket, mounting kit, 2 AA lithium batteries, 4 D-Cell batteries, a USB cable, power adapter, and right angle adapter.
Set-up took about 30 minutes, it’s compatible with Alexa and has 2-way audio. The Blink home monitor app lets you set the lights for trigger as well as the motion detection zones and to receive alerts.
Not a fan of subscriptions so I will be using the sync module instead. You can view in HD day or night mode and the picture is decent so far. The viewing range is 110 degrees which seems to be sufficient for my needs and the lighting is more than enough for my country home (no street lights here!).
The only glitch I have found so far is the motion activated lights are hit or miss so I need to do some troubleshooting to see if it’s the camera or the user. I deducted one star because it does not include a siren which would come in handy, an added layer of security if you will.
First the assembly is fairly simple. And the camera and floodlights work great for a while. If you like birds this is the camera setup made just for you ! I had a robin that was determined to build her nest on the floodlights.
At the rear of the floodlights the cover that keeps water out just twists on, but it doesn’t snap or lock in. So once you have it mounted on its mount if you try and knock down a birds nest it more than likely will fall to the ground unless you get a ladder and carefully clean off the nest.
Mine fell, worked once it was reassembled and remounted. Then a couple days later things started to quit. The camera finally stopped working and I deleted it thinking I could just reinstall it as before.
Like the first day I tried this 3rd Gen camera it will not reconnect to any of ( 3 ) sync modules. ( that have perfect wifi signals ) so I have spent hours trying everything they recommend plus and nothing.
Sure glad I didn’t buy anymore 3rd Gen cameras. If U buy one good luck.
I love my new Blink Floodlight Camera. I was able to set this up very quickly with the directions being simple to follow. Everything I needed was included in the box including the batteries for the camera and the sync module.
The sync module and camera connected to my wifi without any problems through the app but I had to connect the sync module before the camera. I must admit the light is brighter than I’d thought it would be which is great.
The motion sensor works on point with the light turning on and the motion notification on the app. I am also able to talk and hear through the camera, turn the light off or even record and I can hear everything clearly even with the wind blowing.
The best part about this is it’s detachable with a quick in and out the slide. I use this looking at the front of my house and sometimes like to take it down for a quick wipe down. I highly recommend this it’s convenient, reliable and made to last.

4ghz WiFi outdoor camera features a secure SSL/HTTPS connection, wireless AES/WPA2 encryption, FCC and CE certificates and receives regular firmware updates (Does not support 5ghz).
I have been very pleased with this camera. It was easy to setup and get going as soon as I got it out of the box. I had no issues with WIFI or latency when put on my detached garage to capture driveway activity.
I got motion alerts almost immediately on my phone using the SmartHome app and could view live video. Using a SD card, I was able to review motion recordings anytime. The built-in spotlight is nice to let people know they are being watched however the siren will irritate your you and your neighbors every time an animal runs by so you may want to turn it off for most applications.
The picture quality at both night and day is very good and the lens is wide angle with little distortion. The camera is a tad heavy and bulky which could make mounting difficult for some. And like most infrared cameras, spider webs are inevitable it so you may have to clean it once in awhile if outside.
(no fault of the camera) If you need a simple plug and play monitoring/recording device and you are OK with cloud based access, then get this camera. If you need to integrate something into an NVR then this is not the camera is not for you.
I’ve had this camera for almost a month now and it works great. Set up was easy once I realized which app to use. You cannot use the Amcrest View Pro App to set up the camera. You have to use the Amcrest Smart Home App.
This was totally user error. It clearly stated in the set up directions which app to use. Now once the app is set up you can use the Amcrest Pro App. The light on this camera is amazing. The first picture I have posted is a picture of me with only the camera light one.
I’m standing about 15 feet away and I am clearly visible. The light turns on and off when activated by motion. The only thing I would like to change is that the camera records longer after the action stops.
Sometimes playback to stopped before the action is down. Example: Car drives by my house but playback ends before the car is off the screen. Playback is easily recorded on a 128gb micro SD card. Make sure to use the tool provided to open the camera to install the card.
I worked for about 5 minutes before realizing there was a tool. The camera is wireless and has to be close to an outlet. You have about 6 feet of cord to work with, which is plenty. If you need more just and an extension to the USB cord.
So far after a month of use, I have had no errors or any negative things happen. I have learned that a raccoon likes to hang out by my car around 12:30 at night. This isn’t part of the camera review, but I wish all the camera could pair with the smart home app because I feel it is easier to use.

Great camera when there is issues concerning connectivity. Times you would have to refresh the the page to get the live feed , cause it would go offline and refresh it again. Not the bandwith and other specs on my Bell router cause it’s compatible with the camera.
Not my signal cause I have mesh wifi system in the house. 1. 5GB. Only one time had to reset the camera when already installed. No problem with ezviz support. My support Lukas got back to me through email for update right away.
Support extremely cooperative. Just hope this connectivity issue doesn’t reoccur all the time especially having to reset the camera when its already installed. Especially in the winter.
I have a nest outdoor camera and I had to get another one so I got the C3X. The video quality is not too differenr as its marketed as a special night cam. The FOV is less than the Nest. The main issue however is their app and cloud storage.
Both are extremely underwhelming and dont work often. For example, if you want look at a video clip it will take forever to load or will fail to load all together. The cloud only stores the clips and not continous recording unlike Nest.
The continous recording is only available if you install a SD card which obviously comes at a price. The camera doesnt like into google home app as well. All in all Nest cam is slightly more expensive but worth it given its robust cloud storage, app and UI.
Like the camera and the EzViz app. Picture quality is excellent. Viewing life video and recorded video is easy on the phone. The PC app is not as user friendly but works well too. For me the only real negative is the not very “wide” angle view.
I wish the vertical and horizontal view degrees (view angle: 89° (Horizontal), 106° (Diagonal) were a bit more wide angle like 130 degree, even if the picture would go somewhat fish-eye. I use the local storage, SD card and have not signed up for cloud storage.
Cut the Cord. Go Wire-Free. Argus PT can work without any cables thanks to rechargeable battery and WiFi connection. Free from wiring hassles, you can mount this battery-operated security camera anywhere to have ultra-wide viewing angle backed by unique 355° pan and 140° tilt design.
Set it up in seconds and enjoy the peace of mind and convenience Argus PT brings you.
Pretty impressive camera have had this for about 7months or so. Best when paired with the reolink solar panel so you dont need to worry about charging it when direct sunlight will provide charge to the solar panel which charges the camera.
I use this camera around the chicken run and the 360 degree feature allows me to see where my chooks are but also pan/tilt around to see around the coop especially during the night as this camera also has night vision as well.
The camera takes a Micro SD card and with enough storage you can record as much as you want (does not record continuously ). Motion detection is good, easy installation and overall a good camera. Only complaint i have about this camera is the connection even though it is connected to my wifi extender which is in close range.
At times the camera will fail to load and this happens to my other wireless reolink cameras aswell , this issue can remain for while however , regardless of this i still recommend the camera.

I did not expect much for the price and that is what I got. Not much. The setup was not too bad but, I am very experienced in networking. I have a very fast internet here and a VERY fast wireless router so, issue is not the network.
The image quality is pretty good (when working!) & the build quality of the cams seem good but the software, functionality, pay service and support are absolutely terrible. Problem one, if you want your camera footage to be saved so you can view it later, that will cost you an additional $4.
95 a month PER CAMERA. At the time I signed up for my 7 day free trial, they were offering a 50% discount per additional camera. Problem two is the fact that the timeline for reviewing saved paid for footage is very difficult to see on the phone and event tags are non existent on the web version.
Not an intuitive interface what so ever. REALLY BAD. Third problem is video constantly freezes when something actually does pass by the camera! I had a $300 package stolen from my doorstep and I got a shot of someone just entering the frame then, BAM, freezes up, package disappears along with the bandit.
NOTHING RECORDED! Just a glitch in time that I cannot review. NOT GOOD. This happens with both cameras either on high or low resolution. The cameras are less than 25feet from the wireless router and I can use my wifi signal 200 yards away.
This “time lapse” happens when viewing live, recording or whatever. This happens several times an hour whether a passing car, wind blown branches, wife pulling up in driveway or whatever movement. Sometimes it actually does not freeze up but, working sometimes is not acceptable.
Worse condition at night. Problem Four, I contacted support via email a week ago. No response. A ridiculous, inexcusable joke. These are TOYS, not security cams. PERIOD. There is NO SUPPORT correspondence.
What I have to say isn’t against the seller, but against Zmodo. Zmodo has put out a product that is only have finished. The cameras work fine, it is the software. You can not schedule any video action, nor picture action.
They offer the cloud for saving, but that is not working and they have not date as to when it will. The only pictures you get when you get an alarm is 5 snap shots of the action. Really an insufficient time to be able to get a good view of what is going on.
If you want a nanny camera system, this will work great for you. On the plus side, it does have a great picture during the day and the night view is good for the amount if IR lamps it has. Setup and installation was easy, if you know something about computers and networking.
I did call the help desk a few times and they were helpful for the simple things. I did help a friend a few years back that bought the 4 camera set with the DVR. This was a wire system and all setup great.
Would I recommend system this to anyone, no. When and if Zmodo fixes the software problem, I may consider up grading this to a 5 star. Until then, be happy it’s only a 2.
Picture quality was average. Zmodo’s way of managing notifications and providing video clips was the reason for my return. After 20 minutes of inactivity, you get, with activity, a “Major” event. Each one after that is considered a “Minor” event.
Until another 20 minutes of inactivity. Only “Major” events produce a notification. With a “Major” event, you get a 10 second video clip, with a “Minor” event, you get a 5 second clip. After either, you will only be able to see a still photo spaced at 10 second intervals.
You do not get full streaming from video stored on the cloud, except for the 10 & 5 second event clips. There isn’t a way to store video locally or to change clip or notification settings. The clip and notifications work the same regardless of cloud subscription.
Setup wasn’t bad with Zmodo app. Overall for price point 7/10.
Nest Cam Outdoor helps you look after your home 24/7. So you can find out about a break-in before it happens. You don’t want a security camera that sleeps on the job, takes a rain check during a storm or makes your house look unwelcoming.
Nest Cam Outdoor is beautiful, weatherproof and plugs into the mains power supply, so you never have to worry about dead batteries. You can’t always be watching your video feed. Nest Cam looks for motion and listens for loud sounds, like a boom or the crash of a window breaking.
It can then alert you with a photo from the event, and can even save some of the pictures in the Nest app for three hours. Nest Cam Outdoor has a built-in speaker and mic, so you can scare off a suspicious visitor when you’re out or ask the postman to leave your parcel at the door.
Give family members access to your Nest account so that everyone can help keep an eye on your home. Or make a public or password-protected live stream to share with friends and neighbours.

Reviews From Real Customers
I got the Nest Cam to monitor activity on the side of our home that leads into our yard. This area is a blind spot for us and faces the entrance to our cul-de-sac. We own a couple of other Nest products and it is a reputable brand that I trust with performance and longevity.
This camera also has several features which helped in making our decision to get this camera. It can be used indoors or outdoors, it is powered by the built-in rechargeable battery, and it can provide intelligent notifications (motion is caused by people, animals, or vehicles).
This product was very easy to set up and install. You will first need to plug the Nest Cam into an outlet, download the Google Home app, create an account and follow the steps to set up the camera by selecting Nest Cam(battery).
There is a sticker on the camera lens which has a QR code that you will need to scan to connect the camera to your home’s Wi-Fi network. After connecting, you will be given the opportunity to enroll in a 15-day Nest Aware trial period which one needs to view recordings longer than the most recent 3 hours and also the face recognition feature.
This is a con to me when subscriptions are required to reap further benefits. Installing the Nest Cam was quite simple as all you need to do is attach the mounting plate, with the enclosed screws and anchors, to the area you want to place the camera then lock the magnetic plate onto the mounting plate and secure the camera to the magnetic plate.
The camera holds steadily once installed. The beauty of it being battery powered is that you can place it anywhere! The video quality is superb for both day and night and the motion detection and intelligent notifications were precise.
I liked that these alerts can be tailored such as you may only want to be notified when a person causes the motion and not a car or animal. The app is easy to use and we are reassured that we can readily monitor our house while we are home or away.
This indoor/outdoor Nest cam with rechargeable battery is a great product. Upon unboxing, the camera is held to the base by a very strong magnet. The base can be mounted wherever you can get a couple screws into a wall.
It has two wall anchors and screws. Very simple install. The camera itself is solid and well built and has a nice aesthetic to it. I’m using it under the front porch overhang about 8 feet high so it’s outdoors, but protected from rain and elements.
The LED status light does shine green when recording, and while it can be dimmed, it cannot be turned off (at least not that I found). It does offer two way sound so you can talk in real time to someone in the viewing area, although I have not used it.
The video quality is good and sufficient for my security/monitoring purposes. It does a good job identifying the subject as person, animal, or vehicle. The battery life will depend on how much movement it detects, but for my light usage, it should easily last 3+ months before needing to be recharged, which is a very nice tradeoff from having to have it hardwired to a power source.
The Google Home app is easy to use and setup, as is the camera itself. The one detriment to this product is that without the Nest Aware subscription, you can only view recorded motion that has occurred in the last 3 hours.
If it has occurred over 3 hours ago, it will be gone and you will not be able to see it (without the subscription). It’s understandable they want to steer you into the subscription service (as nearly all of these types of products do) so just know that going into your purchase.
Knowing that limitation going in, the product is actually very good and it performs well for what it is intended to do.
This Nest Doorbell is wireless and uses a rechargeable battery. It’s very versatile and will work at any location whether it’s residential or a business. The doorbell is even capable of telling the difference between a person, animal, automobile or package.
It will send you mobile notifications according to what you select under settings. Some really useful features that this doorbell has are the ability to view what’s outside your home/office and speak to anyone out front while you’re somewhere else.
This comes in handy if you have to run errands or go out of town. It works with other nest products and comes with 3 hours of free event history recording. The video quality is great and allows you to see clearly day or night due to the high resolution and night vision.
As for the installation process, it was pretty simple since it’s wireless. I just found a spot I wanted to install the doorbell and using the metal base as a template drilled a couple of holes in the wood trim near the door.
I used the hardware it came with and it was done in less than 10 minutes. You have the option of connecting it to your existing doorbell wires using the wire connectors included in the box. The Google Home app allows you to view or replay videos as well as talk to visitors among other settings.
The downside is that you will need internet, wifi and a google account to be able to use this doorbell. Although it’s a Nest product, it’s not compatible with the Nest app or website. Battery life depends on several factors including amount of usage, outside temperature, and camera settings.
Overall, a nice wireless doorbell that does the job. As for product longevity, I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

I have a Ring pro on my front door and loved it so much that I wanted something for the back patio since I have contracts (lawn, pool, trees, etc) in my backyard. My challenge however is that all the walls on the patio are either stucco or rock, which makes it near impossible to run a hidden power line.
So I opted for this option and so far it works great. The lights are pretty bright and the motion detection works as expected. As for the battery life, it has been in for a couple weeks and it has lost about 10% battery.
So I’m guessing it will last about 3 months before it needs a charge. I just ordered a second battery which should double that battery life. The connection is very quick, it seems to connect much faster than my front door, but in fairness it is closer to the wireless router.
As for installation, I installed it using the provided screws into the frame of my patio door. It actually works perfect there because you can’t really see it and allows me to perfectly position it for motion detection.
My only complaint is the motion zone setup. Unlike the ring pro where I can “draw” motion zones (which significantly helps reduce motion alerts), it only allows you to specify a distance. It really isn’t very intuitive, so I just leave it at mid-range and it seems to work just fine for now.
Beware, in order to have video playback, you do have to subscribe to the ring premium service. And you have to have a subscription per device! I have it for my front door, not sure I’m gonna pay for the back door.
That was kind of a bummer to find out I’d have to pay more. It should be a household subscription. Overall, I’m very happy with the device and would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy to install solution without wires.
I Have recently bought three Ring Wired Spotlight Security Cameras. I had previously owned the original Ring Doorbell for two or three years and recently upgraded that to the Ring Doorbell Pro to which I attached a separately purchased Ring Doorbell Pro plug in mains transformer (24VAC), rather than using the supplied Ring Doorbell switchboard transformer (I do not have existing door bell wiring).
I also ditched the supplied Ring Doorbell chimes and separately ordered the latest new Ring Doorbell Chimes Pro. I was able to mount the bell wire cable round the edge of my door frame and then apply a small bead of mastic, to obtain a really neat installation, feeding the other through a hole in my cavity wall made with my Titan heavy duty electric drill (went through the wall like butter – but I did split the outside brick and then had to glue the two broken off bits of brick back in place.
I particularly liked the fact that the Ring Doorbell Pro has easily modified motion zones that work really well, eliminating false alerts from bushes and trees moving in the wind. I also liked the sharp HD quality video and the rapid response to a bell push (just a second or two delay on both the Ring Doorbell Chimes Pro and virtually simultaneously on my iPad Air 2 and on my iPhone 6).
I also liked the very easy setup process and the way that the product effortlessly communicates with my WiFi reliably. The user interface to look at alerts on an iPad or mobile phone works really well and is easy to use, and recordings can be stored in the cloud (for an additional monthly fee).
And so, finally, all this prompted me to buy the three Ring Wired Spotlight Cameras mentioned at the start of this review, since I understood that from reading reviews, the cameras were of a similar quality to the Ring Doorbell Pro and share the same setup procedures, user interface, and ability to store recordings in the cloud, alongside the recordings from the Ring Doorbell Pro.
I have not been disappointed, and all four devices can be viewed together in one dashboard on my iPad Air 2, and all work seamlessly together. I already had old mains wired spotlights in the required positions for the new cameras, so I turned off the mains, removed the spotlights, chopped off the plugs and most of the cables to the Ring Wired Spotlight Cameras, and then “crimped” (using a specialist crimping tool with colour coded matching crimps) the remaining cable ends to the ends of the cables that had been used for the old spotlights.
I then used heat shrink to get waterproof connections in each case. If you are not conversant with doing this, then you could use a qualified electrician to connect the camera(s) to your old Spotlight cable(s), or failing that use the supplied cable(s) and plug(s), to plug into an outside socket, if you do not already have wired spotlights at the required position(s) for your new security camera(s).
The end result for me is a really good looking set of spotlight security cameras that are wired neatly onto the outside of the house with no cable runs at all, and which work flawlessly even in the severe gales and heavy rain that we have had recently (at the end of Oct 2020).
The only gripes? Well, it would be nice if the night time vision which although very good, was of a quality more closely matching the daytime vision quality. Also, I would really love a Ring App for my Apple Watch, but sadly, as of now, one is not available! Also a nice additional option to the Ring range would a sturdy good looking dummy alarm box with a flashing LED light, with a prominent “Ring” logo on it and a decent built in ten year battery to power it (with a ten year guarantee) – not beyond the capabilities of modern technology to produce, surely? Such a simple product to design and manufacture! Oh, and lastly, a high quality Ring audio dummy dog bark speaker (that could be placed somewhere in the middle of the house to sound convincing), would be a really great addition, especially if it could be linked to the doorbell and security cameras! Being able to activate the dummy dog to bark at the same time as activating the built in siren in the cameras, would be really great!.
I am only not recommending this product as there is one glaring design fault. The power lead is wired into the unit at one end with a 3 pin plug on the other. Now given this is for outdoors installation unless you have an external waterproof plug socket how are you meant to plug it in! Add to this if its plugged in outside what is to stop an intruder just unplugging it.
I am competent with electrics and have carefully disconnected the wires from the unit and drilled a 10mm hole through one of my external walls, fed the power lead from the inside of my house through the wall to the outside then reconnected the lead to the unit and mounted the unit flush on the outside wall so there is no cable on show which adds extra security.
You then simply plug the unit in to a socket inside the house close to where I drilled the hole. Now Ring might say they sell a battery operated unit but if you want these spotlights to be secure they need to be high enough up the wall so an intruder could not simply rip it off or cover the lens.
If doing this with a battery unit you then have the problem of getting high enough to change the battery, The plug in one is far more reliable and the solution is simple. Re design the unit with an adapter that fits through a small hole in a wall.
If you are competent with wiring then it is a great product but if not then you are going to have some installation and security issues.

We are extremely happy with security camera, online service great from Netatmo. And not having to pay mthly fee for data storage is a big plus. However fault detected after 16 mths, whilst it was out of warranty, PB Tech replaced the camera, very impressed with their service, thank you.
Observe magnificent 1080p HD video footage at 30fps. The floodlight is equipped with dual-floodlights emitting a brilliantly bright 2000 lumen light that provides coverage of up to 33 feet. Cover Every angle with an extra-wide 114 viewing angle and remote pan/tilt and digital zoom.
Works with Alexa. Communicate with your kids, pets, and loved ones using the two-way talk feature via the Amcrest Smart Home app. Set your floodlights to activate on command, when motion is detected, or leave them always on to provide you the protection you need when you need it.
Positives – Light build quality is nice and it’s heavy which makes it more sturdy and convenient for outdoor use – The packaging is great and comes with all the necessary hardware – The camera quality is also decent at Full HD – It does not require the Hub however you need the app to control the camera settings – adding the camera to the app is nice and easy, when connected to the network the speaker on the unit tells through voice prompt that it is connected to a network which is added bonus – You have options to flip the view horizontally or vertically in the app – it can be controlled through Alexa and if you have already added the Amcrest skill, the device will be automatically added to Alexa – Supports MicroSD card on the unit however it did to recognize the sd card 3 times and I formatted the card on a laptop with no luck.
Then reinserted the card again and it worked. – The notifications popup quickly and you can control the light through the app as well, in case you want to view something in dark and leave them on. Nice to Have – The biggest disappointment is the camera adjustments.
The camera and the lights can be rotated or moved up/down and that is it. It is not full 360 and I would have preferred a ball mount to utilize the camera to its full potential. I cannot position it correctly now as it cannot be moved to the side – The Amcrest smart home cameras come with the hub and this one does not connect to it else it would have been convenient to use the On-Board storage on the Hub.
If you have more devices from Amcrest then adding this camera to the hub would have made sense (if you don’t have the hub, don’t worry this Floodlight does not need one) – The floodlight should have frosted covers as the pictures are deceiving.
It seems like they are frosted but it is showing the light as on and in other pictures, you see the LEDs.
Previously, I had two motion sending floodlights on each side of my garage. I decided to replace one of those old floodlights with this new Amcrest floodlight and WOW! Installation was straightforward and easy.
Once wired up, I had the floodlight camera setup in the app a few minutes later. The LED floodlight is much brighter than the old halogen tube floodlight used previously. The motion sensors detect motion over 40 feet away to the left, front, and right.
The distance is customizable in the app if your area of interest is shorter. You can also pick to only detect left, front, or right motion, or a combination of those. The siren is LOUD, enough to easily scare someone.
You can enable the siren manually or set it to come on with motion. The talkback speaker kind of sounds like a car sales lot and is entertaining to use. The motion detection uses both a combination of the camera and infrared sensor, so I did not receive any false positives for motion that were not actual events.
The Wi-Fi range is good. My phone has a hard time connecting to the Wi-Fi where the camera is, but the ping times to the camera are usually under 7 ms, which helps the RTSP stream to run smooth. As others have mentioned, the camera can only be pointed up or down, not side to side.
The range of view is really wide, but being able to adjust left to right, even by a few degrees would be nice. Living in a rural area, I have an upload speed of less than 1mbps. While visiting family over 2 hours away, I was still able to stream this camera remotely.
I would start by saying that the camera itself is very nice, and I am removing stars for issues I had with it. Anyway, the floodlight came in very nice, high quality packaging, tightly packed in Styrofoam.
Arrived clean and modern looking. The camera itself, out of the box, has a nice quality feel to it, with modern design and quality feel. I was happy with the purchase at this point. Installation and mounting was pretty straight forward, however the back of the camera, where the electrical components are housed, does not leave much room for when you are ready to mount to the box/bracket.
It was difficult fitting everything into the spaces. The negative aspects of my review came after the install was complete. I attempted to connect the device to the app, and set everything up, and the cameras serial number was already registered to another account.
I have no idea how this happened, but customer service does not have the answers, and you are left submitting a service ticket to their support describing the problem with screenshots and stuff. So I basically had no answers as to how/why this happened, and if I was getting a replacement or if it could be fixed.
Totally in the dark. 3 days went by and I got an email saying it was fixed. Went home. and it worked. Outside of this issue, the lights are VERY bright. the camera quality is very very nice. The app is simple to navigate.
The siren is great. All around 5/5 stars. I haven’t had much interaction with the motion sensors and stuff thus far, and am trying to figure out video storage, so will update my review after I do that.
I also purchased the video doorbell. After that is installed and reviewed, I will be looking to purchase the baby monitor system, and 2 additional cameras to add if doorbell works out. Will update soon,.
This Wi-Fi enabled security camera will enhance your at-home security with ease. Connect through ethernet or Wi-Fi and record crystal clear 3MP Ultra-High-Definition videos. Advanced Night Vision captures up to 30m in total darkness, whilst Motion Detection and Notifications tell you when the camera can sense movement.
Set up triggered light and sound effects to deter unwanted visitors, or communicate with its 2-way audio system. Compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for hands-free voice control.
Have this camera running outdoors. Great value, easy installation, and yes you will have to run cables with this model. Package comes with – Drilling template – Camera with mounting base – 9-volt power supply – Separate Ethernet plug for cabled connection (No POE)! – Instruction book Pro’s – Good enough camera quality, day and night – App that is provided with the camera works decent enough (no subscription fees) if you stay within the TP-link Tapo range you can add more security camera’s to the app.
– Motion detection is decent and comes with motion zones. – FTP integration so footage can be ingested by external Storage Cons – Motion detection goes crazy at night when it is raining. – SD card needed when you want to save footage on the device (needs to be bought separately as the device comes with no storage!) – No Power Over Ethernet (POE) If you are looking for a cheap way to run some security camera’s around or in your house you should consider TP-link Tapo.
That said there are more elegant solutions for your home security but these cost heaps more.
I have researched for a home security camera for a while. Mr Gadget buyer’s guide dated 21 February 2022 listed it as one of the best outdoor cam around. For this price compared to the more expensive brands, there are some hits and misses.
It can be too sensitive or not at all so you have to fine tune the software to that sweet spot. However with no compulsory monthly subscriptions, easy downloads and clear 3MP resolution, there is nothing much I can complain about except that the cam is hard-wired.
The pros is that I don’t have to worry about replacing the batteries. I intend to add another C310 and C210 to the system.
Does what it says on the box for a great price. Owned and operated for 1 month. I’ve installed a soffit looking at the front door. Notifications are good, so is setting a schedule for recording. High res mode is obviously the best, and good only go down levels of you really need more space on the SD card for long term records.
I’ve set record without sound and between 7am-6pm full recording, and only when it detects motion overnight. A rough estimate of 3 weeks before it loops and overrides data with the largest SD card. Connection to wifi was easy.
I had a little terrible with the SD card format, but that worked when I finally realized to put it in and then turn on the power. Only niggle is it’s a little slow to boot up in the app, but that’s easily outweighed with the pros.
The hardest part was running power, but at least it’s done and no need to re-charge batteries.

I want to thank you for such a great product. First I had tio choose between one that has batteries and one that has to be hard wired. Yeas one that has batteries is easier to install ,but going out every couple months ,getting up on a latter.
no thanks! You item for a wired item was a piece of cake to install. ALL need part were there. All neatly put efficiently in a small box. All parts were either put on cardboard dispensers or adhered to cardboard with a little adhesive.
This much thought out holder for all the parts needed to install was genus! A lot of work to design how to adhere each item ,but also for to compactly but all together in a tiny box that was easy to access, and no parts fell out like many other products.
Then have to stop ,go to home center for replacement installation items that were missing! The Camera works well i watched the install and operation video. Picture is really sharp and clear in day or night.
Mounting is easy and flexible, especially with steel rain gutters, using the magnet mount. Set up is quick and easy. Really like making video clips, identifying faces and being able to download videos.
It’s wonderful to have a sense of what’s happening around our home. We’ve seen a lot of wildlife. a fox trying to make friends with our sweet little dog. deer drinking from our bird bath and on and on and on.
Once we were able to contribute our video of a neighbor’s car break-in to the sheriff’s investigation. BIGGEST PROBLEM is the long wait for the app to open. From the time we get an alert to the time it takes for the app to open, the event has passed.
More flexibility with the power cord would be nice. In most cases, the power cord is too long, leaving a lot of the cord hanging somewhere outside. Our gutters and trim are black. But outdoor camera with magnetic mount, and the power cord are only available in white.
I’ve tried different types of security cameras both game cameras and other wifi cameras. These cameras are not the best quality. I feel these would be a better camera if you didn’t need to rely on 110 power.
The quality of the video is slightly choppy and the zoom quality is well below par. Part of the problem might be the Wifi signal but the farthest camera in distance from the modem is around 25 feet (through walls).
When the internet goes down and when it comes back on it takes a while to reboot the cameras. The good side of the camera is the quality of the video of (other than choppy) is how clear it looks. Some one walking by the house you sometimes see a ghost or one moment they are there then it jumps to where they have passed.
The video delay is bad. If a car goes by (what you heard) then a few seconds later it shows up on the video. With all the modern technology you would think these would a better quality. I heard that these cameras are easy to be hacked as well.

With the help of artificial intelligence, the camera can reliably distinguish the shape of people as opposed to other objects. The integrated auxiliary lights provide night vision with intense and vivid colours, even in complete darkness.
Thanks to IP67 protection, the camera can be installed anywhere – it can withstand all weather conditions and dirt does not adhere to it. As soon as motion is detected, a loud siren and built-in flash light can be activated automatically to deter potential intruders.
The C3N uses an existing 2. 4-GHz Wi-Fi network and also features Active Defense for deterrence, colour night vision and two-way audio.
Picture is good, black and white with invisible ir light, it can be set to turn on visible lights for color when motion is detected, or full time visible light if you want. Users should be aware that the camera is made to work with a paid cloud subscription, which works well but will run up costs, as well as create some heavy internet traffic.
It’s possible to setup your own recording but you need additional software and it’s difficult to find the correct internal ip to stream.

The Eufy solocam pro security camera, was super easy to setup. Easy to install, and easy to connect to wifi. I really like that you don’t have to pay for a membership to keep video recordings. You can hear and talk through the camera.
There is no wires at all, which is perfect. The actual video is very clear and you can see whoever walks by your house, it’s not all fuzzy either. Battery life last 120 days in one single charge. Night vision is very clear, I was a little worried that it wasn’t going to be.
Highly recommend if you are searching for security cameras.
I love having this camera in place to watch my gate. The backyard is fenced in and only one gate allows access. I mounted this camera out of unassisted reach but within range of my ladder. To recharge, all I have to do is unscrew from the mount in the morning and by the evening it is fully charged and lasts for several weeks.
Super surprised by this! Easy set up and installation! I think that the app is good, could be better in some areas though. I never got a Ring doorbell because I heard there were subscription fees and such.
I love that this doesn’t have a subscription and has all the same features! I live in a college town and our packages get stolen very often, I’m sure this will deter them!.
There are many different types of outdoor security cameras that work with Alexa, and the best one for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences. However, all of these cameras share one important feature: they can help you keep an eye on your home, even when you’re not there.
One of the most popular types of outdoor security cameras is the wireless camera. These cameras are easy to install and can be moved around as needed. They also tend to be very affordable, making them a great choice for budget-conscious shoppers.
Another popular type of outdoor security camera is the wired camera. These cameras are more permanent, but they can be a bit more difficult to install. They also tend to be more expensive than wireless cameras.
If you’re looking for a camera that can capture high-quality video, you may want to consider an IP camera. These cameras connect to your home’s Wi-Fi network and can send video footage to your smartphone or tablet.
Finally, if you want a camera that’s specifically designed for outdoor use, you may want to consider a solar-powered camera. These cameras rely on solar panels to power themselves, so you’ll never have to worry about batteries dying in the middle of the night.
