So I’m not a huge guy (though constantly teetering between “overweight” and “normal” BMI scores), but have always had thicker thighs. Went with a medium because I’m a 33ish waist and the fit was. really awkward.
The liner made the shorts sit below the hip (just below the belly), but there was extra fabric near the top so it’d fold in strange ways while running. The legs themselves were also pretty tight, so the overall look was not very flattering.
Like the product photo with the non-lean dude, but way worse because of the fold. And this might just be me, but the 5 inches didn’t really feel like 5 inches. Though I do just have long quads. I’m also 6ft.
Last bit — there are 2 pockets on the shorts. One tiny pouch on the outside, which can’t close with anything but keys, and one inside pouch on the liner, on the outer part of the right cheek. I tried putting my phone in the inner pouch, and that was bad; The weight of the phone plus the positioning below the waist meant that the phone was constantly moving, and made the awkward fold of the fabric worse, extending it to the back.
I will say the material wicks well and I was really cool the whole run. That was nice. And the stretch was definitely appreciated.
Great fit and quality. They do run small, so I sized up from an M to a L. The guy with the photo review in red complaining about the size clearly needed a larger size. But then I live in grown up land where I know that “my size” will vary across garments.
One small pocket is all I want for a key. Personally don’t need/want a phone with me while I’m running/exercising. I’d prefer to have gotten the 7″ version, but I don’t like weird compression shorts liner those have.
It’s just extra heat. If I wanted that I’d just wear my own compression shorts. The brief in these, thought, is perfect.
Wore these on a run and after 10 miles, the chafing was really bad. I’ve never had that happen with any pair of lined running shorts before after only 10 miles. That shouldn’t happen with running shorts.
My post run shower was pretty uncomfortable LOL. Would definitely NOT recommend these. I miss the C9 shorts which would admittedly break down after a few years but they were comfortable and well-priced.

I purchased these shorts in a size small in the color Lunar Rock. The color is very nice and it a darker, browner shade of gray. I usually wear a small in shorts; however, the leg holes were quite big for my legs.
I also would size down if you do not have a larger backside. Yet, the waistband fit perfectly. Overall, I definitely believe these are worth the purchase and they will make great running shorts. They are also very comfy and live up to their quick drying reputation.
These shorts are amazing!! I bought one pair of the lululemon find your pace shorts a couple months ago and ever since have wanted a second pair. They are always annoyingly out of stock so I started looking elsewhere for comparable alternatives.
These did not disappoint!!! The quality of the material is incredible and you can’t beat the price! Did a 6 mile run in these shorts this morning and was so comfortable in them!! I highly recommend this brand and I will no longer be looking for a restock of those lululemon shorts!.
I bought these in the white and the black jacquard. Both fit, but the white are extremely tighter than the black ones. I can pull off the black in public because they’re not as tight as the white pair.
I was a little bummed because I am on a fitness journey and was hoping these would fit me like I thought they would. Just gives me more motivation to lose some more weight to properly fit into the white.
I am 5’5. 5’’ and weigh 208 pounds and I got the XL size. I do wish there were some pockets instead of the small zipper one in the back. Other than that, I love the style of the shorts and wear them when I workout.
The black ones are a little more loose and I can justify going out in public with those. These for better when you don’t wear any undergarments under the shorts lol. So it’s nice to have that protecting liner inside the shorts.

Reviews From Real Customers
I have gone for two 5-mile runs in these shorts and have genuinely enjoyed them. My big requirements for running shorts is a back pocket that keeps smaller items in place allowing for me to bring my keys on my runs.
The liner is a full length liner, which is not my preference because I feel that they are a bit tight, but these shorts do it better than most shorts but still not perfect (they ride up a some as you run).
The fit is also really good, not too tight around the thigh, which I was very worried about when I first felt them because they are not very stretchy. Overall, I would highly recommend these shorts, especially for the cost.
Hard to beat the price when anything close to this quality would cost more than double the cost.

You get what you pay for. It was a great price but had one with a defect where the stitching came off first use right after opening. Less than two weeks later one got a hole in the crouch. They offered a replacement or partial refund and I went the refund route and should have done all of it.
As of now less then 60 days in 4/5 of them have holes from standard use of 2 times a week use on average per pair with washing in between uses. If you need a quick few pair, great buy. If you need something that will last then look elsewhere.

Reviews From Real Customers
This is my 4th different short from BALEAF. Im 5 10 and 156lbs and these were close to being to big in the medium. Im a 30 to 31 waist play pickleball 5 days and run 3 to 4 times a week. reading some of the reviews led me to believe med.
would be the best and they do fit good maybe the small would be better, but Im very happy with these. !st the other 3 types of shorts in 5in and 7in seam have a black liner, and iI need to wear sport underwear in both the small and medium as you can see the bump in front, but not these good firm material not the mesh and they dont ride up.
2nd like i said they are like wearing nothingso based on my other pairs if they hold up like them I will be impressed. 3rd I wear two pair all week, when i take a shower I rinse them out with my shirt and dry them outside at night.
when i wash them in machine I use performance detergent and I have not seen and fade yet after 7 months. 4th If I knew these were available I would of told my mom to only buy these as I really like the long inner liner.
I bought the black and lime/yellow on lighting deal and got my mom and son to buy them also. lighting deals are limited to 1 purchase only, oops sorry if its a great deal get your family to buy you more.
I bought these shorts primarily for running and also for riding my bike and exercising. Theyre perfect for all of those activities. With one minor exception, there is a lot to like about them. PROS:- Excellent fit: Im 58, 145 lb, 30 inch waist, and I ordered a mens Small.
I couldnt ask for a better fit. – Comfortable, supportive liner: The inner liner fits me perfectly, front and back. – Lightweight, quick-drying fabric: The shorts dont cling to your legs if you perspire during a run, and they dry out quickly after washing.
– Side pockets have good depth: I can drive my car or ride my bike and not have to worry that anything in the side pockets is going to fall out. – Excellent elastic in the waistband: The waistband securely keeps the shorts up without needing to tie the drawstring, and yet it doesnt feel like youll have an imprint on your waist when you take them off.
I have a pair of name brand running shorts that are nowhere near as comfortable as these shorts, and a lot of that has to do with how restrictive the waistband is. – Good looking shorts: I really like the length of these shorts.
The hem comes several inches above my knee. – Solid construction: Ive worn these shorts quite a few times and theyve been through the laundry without any sign of loosening of the elastic or fraying of the fabric.
Theyre really well put together. CONSOnly one con, and its what keeps me from giving these shorts a 5-star rating: The back pocket. I wouldnt let it matter, but they.
These are pretty good running shorts. They arent hip shorts, but they also arent a to the knee length. Perfect length IMO. They are soft, light, and comfortable even with the mesh liner. Honestly, I am not sure what the liner is supposed to do, but its not a snug fit so I still wear underwear with the shorts.
The front pockets are just deep enough for a phone, which is a plus see below and the back pocket can easily hold a set of keys and cash/cards/ID. That brings me to the first negative. Unless your cell phone dates to 2015 or earlier, you most likely wont be able to fit it in the back zipper pocket.
The pocket is just far too small, especially for todays larger phablet style phones iPhone X/S, Galaxy/Galaxy Note 7-10, etc. If you have an iPhone 6 or more recent models or any Android flagship built in the last 5 years, you probably wont be able to fit your phone in the zip pocket.
My phone is just under 6 inches tall and its not even close to being able to fit. The zipper itself is only about 5 inches long, if that tells you anything. Again, the front pockets are deep enough for a phone, but theyre stretchy so not only is the phone slapping against ones leg but it gives the illusion that it is pulling the shorts down.
Im actually tempted to take off another star here for false advertising from the company, as the product is listed with zipper pocketS yet there is only one small zipper pocket on the back. The other negative is that the fabric is a bit tran.

Reviews From Real Customers
I bought two pairs of these shorts, the black and the camo, both in medium sizes based off of the sizing chart and it’s clear that the sizing chart was not made for people like me with big thighs, as I definitely needed a large.
I wear a 32 waist which is what was listed on the chart, and I have purchased many mediums in Lulu gear before in the past without issue. I’m not sure if their sizing has changed, but it doesn’t seem the sizing chart accounts for people like me who have very muscular thighs and glutes.
Unfortunately I found this out too late so I couldn’t exchange. The camo version is made of a different material than the black pair, and it allows for a little bit more room and natural flow of the material.
The black pair however, feel much more rigid, making them hard to get on and off unless I’m squeezing my legs together as close as possible. In both versions (although much less on the camo pair), there is also a lot of awkward bunching in the legs, likely due to the size not accounting for muscular thighs.
Adjusting the shorts to account for the bunching of the legs made the black pair more uncomfortable and constrictive in other areas, so I had to pick my battles. It’s very disappointing to be having this experience as I love Lulu gear.
When I first tried on both pairs, they both seemed the slightest bit on the snug side, but still comfortable and stretchy enough not to warrant an exchange, so I kept them. However, the subsequent times that i have tried them both on since, at different times of day, the comfort of them has disappeared as I fight to balance constriction and awkward bunching of the legs and now I am unable to return them.
I’d recommend anyone with muscular legs who is considering buying these shorts to consider going a size higher than they usually get to account for how snug these are in the legs.
I bought these a few months ago. This is the second garment of this material I own from Lulu, the first being the At Ease Joggers. First things first, these shorts need to be laundered delicately. Even setting your dryer at medium heat will damage the material and create small perforations in the fabric that grow from small holes into large tears with each successive wash.
The shorts ARE quite comfortable, but require very careful maintenance. Mine are already beginning to fray, which also happened to my At Ease Joggers after only a few months of wear. The real pain with these shorts are the pockets.
They are incredibly shallow. Expect to lose anything you put in these pockets. I have had my iPhone XR slide out of these pockets countless times. One time, I nearly lost my phone after I didn’t notice it had fallen out of my pocket at a bar.
I was compelled to write this review because I just got back from driving over two hours to collect my wallet, which had slipped out of my pocket while wearing these shorts to lunch yesterday. Thank goodness both the restaurant and the bar found my phone and wallet and hung on to them! I have never lost my phone or wallet in my life except when wearing these shorts.
Moral of the story: do not trust these pockets with your valuables!!! So, that leaves us with the question, what are these shorts intended for? They’re great for lounging around the house, but I don’t need to spend $78 on a pair of shorts for wearing at home.
You can’t trust them to wear out because of the pockets issue, and I wouldn’t recommend wearing them for working out because 1) Lulu’s dedicated workout shorts are much better designed for working out, and 2) when they get all sweaty, you need to wash them more, which causes the finicky fabric to break down even more quickly.
I plan on relegating these shorts to wearing around the house and around the house only. I can’t count on good samaritans continuing to return my possession that slip out of these pockets, and so I can trust these shorts anymore :(.
Awful decision. The new liner is a joke. It’s like those awful mesh swim trunk liners that just ride up immediately, are scratchy, and don’t provide the support of an actual pair of compression shorts/long boxer briefs.
The shorts themselves are still great, but without the Luxtreme liner, my main reason for buying them is gone since the price hasn’t dropped to reflect not having the best feature. Also, this isn’t the worst part of the liner by any means, but the new liner only has 1 open pocket compared to the Luxtreme liner’s 2 pockets, one open and one covered with a flap (very useful for keeping small items during hikes/unfamiliar places, etc.
). Again, I just wish they would bring the amazing Luxtreme liner back, especially since they didn’t lower the price of these by 25 dollars because they replaced it with some cheap junk. I would try the Licensed to Train shorts because they have a Luxtreme liner, but I strongly prefer the flat band on the T.
H. E. shorts compared to the weird scrunchy one the LTT shorts have. Also, the LTT shorts don’t come in 9″. Why did I buy these? I bought this a bit ago because I missed having the T. H. E. shorts with a liner.
Liners aren’t for everyone, but I like them for certain activities. I switched to using the unlined version with Licensed to Train long underwear for a while, but since a month or so ago, Lululemon seems to have discontinued that as well, just my luck.
So, I figured I’d try these because I found a pair on sale.

I like the product. It is well made and is as good of quality as any of other similar brands. Material felt great, used it for a soccer game and I felt good wearing it. It is a size large and it fit good.
Was hoping it be a little more snug on the thighs. I do see my self wearing this as an under layer in other activities such as hiking or snowboarding. Look forward to getting more use out of it. The media pocket was helpful when wanting to hold my cellphone or even door keys when at the gym or going for a jog.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with these. I usually wear the same brand of boxer briefs. Upon receiving these I was impressed by the build and materials used. They are lightweight fit very nicely compared to boxers with legs this long.
I do some pretty intense workouts and have not had any issues with chaffing and they provide excellent support. They have very quickly became my favorite boxers. I will be getting more as soon as I can make it to Dicks.

Shorts are very comfy and lightweight. They don’t shift up my legs whilst moving which was a big reason I went for this style. I am 5’7 and an average size 12-14 I purchased size XL after reading other reviews and they fit perfectly, not too tight but stay up and room to move.
Great Tackle Bag with excellent storage- 7-3700 lure trays 3 medium lure trays and 8 small lure trays fit in this bag. Great Quality for the money. I purchased to use on the boat as a grab and go tackle bag it’s AWESOME! “If you are looking for a quality made, huge storage capacity bag look no further”.

Reviews From Real Customers
I was looking for a pair of shorts that would be able to do it all for me. Something I could work out in, wear casually, or dress up with a button up shirt. And these shorts delivered! I have several trips coming up that I needed to pack really light for and two pairs of these will save me from taking some dress shorts, workout shorts, and maybe even swim trunks.
I wasn’t sure whether I’d like the 6” or 8” inseam model more so I got one of each in black and in khaki. My wife likes the 8” but I am more of a fan of the 6”. But that is just a pure matter of preference.
Functionally they are the same in terms of comfort and mobility. The one meaningful difference is that the pockets (I think) are the same size in both. And they are decently roomy pockets. So with the 6” shorts you might get some of the pocket mesh peeking out from the bottom of the shorts if you have something heavy like a phone in your pocket.
The only thing I would change is to offer a model with the back pocket on the left. I am left handed and used to keeping my wallet in my back left pocket, so putting it on the right just feels a little foreign to me.
But the back pocket is so well sized and positioned that after a little bit it doesn’t even bother me. Overall I am really happy with them. I hope they hold up well with use. If they do I will definitely come back to get a few more pairs.
I’ve been a fan of the Everyday Short for a while now, and have bought different pairs through each iteration for years. The latest designs are incredible, with a sharp, sophisticated look that’s still relaxed and comfortable.
I’ve paired them with t shirts, polos, and lighter button up shirts to cover every social situation easily. They’ve gotten compliments with their excellent colors and stylish details, and as such, I find myself purchasing new pairs pretty frequently.
Normally, brands that advertise versatile shorts like this end up giving you something that’s basically just a glorified sweatpant cutoff – they lack shape and structure, are too thick (and thus too warm), and tend to start looking slovenly after a few washes.
But the Everyday Short avoids this, creating a shape that lasts and looks polished. It creates a great put-together look even as it feels casual. These truly can be worn at any time and look great. So here’s another pair to the collection, but certainly not the last.
Purchased 2 pairs of your everyday shorts 2 years ago. Can’t say how much I loved them, how great they fit and looked. A month ago, decided to purchase 2 more pairs. As soon as I put them on, I immediately knew there were changes made To these shorts.
They definitely didn’t feel the same, look the same and fit the same. They were bigger and stiffer and didn’t have the added support To the inside of the shorts that I liked. I thought I ordered the wrong pair.
So when I emailed Myles to ask about my concerns, the Representative told me that there was a total makeover of these shorts a year or so ago. I was correct and I told her that you went from One of the best shorts on the market to a pair of shorts that I totally didn’t like.
I’m returning the 2nd unopened pair and will no Longer buy these shorts. Sorry Myles, to me you made unnecessary changes and ruined a terrific pair of shorts. Please bring back the Older model. Thanks goes made to these shorts.

Bought a pair just to try something different, now I want them in every color. Super comfortable. I mean, let’s just go out on a limb and say these are the most comfortable pair of lounge shorts I’ve ever owned.
Ever! The only catch is the pockets. You get 1 zippered pocket on the right and 1 coin pocket on the left. Trust nothing in the regular pockets. The fabric for these ultra comfy shorts is springy and soft and my iPhone has leaped out of my pocket before when I had to run unexpectedly.
Even so, I still ordered another pair. Lulu I’d just suggest the next generation have a coin pocket thingy in both pockets to better secure your keys, airpods, etc.
I’m a very fast runner with slim legs. I have 7 pairs of a competitor’s shorts, which cost less and have front pockets. I have worn those shorts almost exclusively for the last year. I figured, hey, I have plenty of Lulu stuff that I like, let’s start a high-end shorts rotation.
The shorts arrived this afternoon. I immediately put them on and ripped a fast 6-mile run. Before my run, I really enjoyed the lighter feeling of the shorts and slimmer profile. I didn’t enjoy how “structured” and tight the liner felt especially around my posterior.
Before I completed the first mile of my run, I knew I had made a terrible choice. I expected that the liner in these shorts would be exactly the same as the liner used in their underwear. It’s not. It’s ever-so-slightly cheaper mesh, more aggressive stitching, and then a very rough-feeling crotch area (compared to the more plush competitor).
The liner itself is way tighter than you’d expect in all dimensions, which exerts a lot of unexpected pressure over the crotch area. The liner over the legs also pulls and rides up really easily if you’re actually hitting anything resembling a full stride.
I could feel the abrasion on all the hairs on my legs. Every time I had to stop at a red light I had to “adjust myself” and check for blood. These absolutely vent better than ! However, a sensitive part of my body had been rubbed raw by the end of the run which never happened in 1000+ miles with the competitor, so I have no desire to repeat this experiment.
Ow!.

I really like these shorts. I have used them for several shorter interval runs, and a longer 8 mile run, and they have quickly become my go to pair. I generally skip over a lot of other shorts due to a lack of hand pockets.
Granted if I am going to be racing, or running in my neighborhood at home, I am going to be using a belt or vest for storage. However 80% of my runs/workouts or more, I am going to need somewhere to stow my phone/keys/wallet before and after working out, and the hand pockets in these shorts are great for that utility.
Purpose wise, the shorts hit the mark. I usually wear a medium, and these run a touch smaller than normal, but this was not a problem for me since I have slimmed down a bit lately, but I could see it as a problem for others.
The waistband is nice and smooth, and very elastic. I really like not having the bunched up fabric style waistband. It gives these shorts a premium feel to them. However the width and thinness of the fabric tend to result in the waistband folding over, not really a practical issue though.
Additionally the draw string has just enough stretch to it, without being too stretchy. Liner is just a bit snug, but works fine and nice material. No chafing problems thus far. Pocket placement is nice, falling just a bit back towards the hip from standard hand pockets.
The additional small rear pocket is good for holding a key, a gel, or what I mostly use it for, a sweat rag.
Very comfortable. I like a longer short, and these are, without being long enough to restrict movement. Liner holds everything in place and no chaffing. Wish I could give 4. 5 stars because the only knock is the cell phone pocket is too small for modern hand held computers!.

I bought two of these in white and green, and for the reason that I want a back or side pocket for my iPhone when I run on treadmill or outside. The phone pocket works perfect, and big and snug enough for my iPhone 7plus.
The zipper on both sides are a plus. The string in front holds tight and low profile. Just be sure to get the right size for yourself. Also, the materials are high quality and I think it will last a long while.
#sweepstakes.
Bought the camo option through Huckberry. Love the fit and quality. Material is stretchy and lightweight without feeling “cheap. ” Cut is perfect. Outstanding in all ways but one – the cellphone pocket.
I love to run with my phone and wireless earbuds and on those runs keeping the phone secure without bounce is essential. I find the only way to do this is to have the phone pocket either be center back on the waist band, oriented horizontally or on the leg of the liner (perhaps some design genius will find an alternative, but I haven’t seen one yet).
On the Bolt it is inside the hand pocket but still on the loose outer structure of the short, not the liner itself. So while it bounces less than it would just sitting down in the pocket, it still bounces way too much for a proper distance run short.
My recommendation would be to just pop it down onto the liner like in the Command (which I also have – and is great – but it’s more of a heavier HIIT short). So all in all Bolt is great but I would love to see that modification in future iterations.
Sorry guys – you still have a loyal customer but have to dock one star for the bouncy phone!.
I bought 2 pairs after extensively reading the reviews on these and researching various athletic shorts online. These seemed to be a top contender regarding fabric, fit, and style, and also price if you get them on a sale.
After wearing each pair once and washing one pair and wearing again, I can say with confidence that I’m not a fan of the fit of these. The waist is fine and there is room in the crotch and seat; it is just the drape of the short that I strongly dislike.
The legs almost flare out at the bottom and it is a very unflattering aesthetic. In my opinion there is way too much fabric at the bottom of the short with no taper and I think the side slit compounds the problem.
One technical complaint about the shorts: the rear pocket is not big enough for most modern version phones. I have a pixel 2 and it by no means fits in the rear zipper pocket which is a shame and a pretty glaring design flaw.
Overall the quality seems pretty great (too early to tell how they will hold up) but the styling just isn’t for me. There’s no flattery of the leg shape whatsoever. I hadn’t seen any reviews mention this so I thought I would chime in.

Great running short. Shorts dry quickly and stay cool. Draw string is elastic, so the waist strings stay knotted and keep the waist secure. Zip pocket will hold a few cards, cash, and keys, but maybe 3 items so choose wisely.
Oder resistant treatment works well. Time will tell on longevity of odor resistance. Not yet tried interior phone pocket, but my Galaxy Note 9 may prove too large. Picking up a 3rd pair. As mention, a bit small so size up.
I like side pockets for my summer outdoor shorts. I had 3 pairs of the quick dry board shorts that I loved last summer, but Target apparently isn’t making those any more, so I was looking for replacements.
These are nice – a light, quick-dry material. The details on the product webpage clearly state that these have side slit pockets, which is one reason I purchased them. I was surprised to find that they do NOT, in fact, have side pockets.
The jury is out as to whether I will keep these or bring them back.

Comfy and sleek. The grey is far lighter than this picture, it’s almost white. I’m lean 5ft9 and 155, Small fit really well. My wife said “Oh I like those” when I put them on. They are probably European-small, so size up if used to US sizing.
Pocket holds a phone, but is really meant only for a key and a gel or two. There’s no zipper, so nothing that you don’t want to have bounce out. These are great for short runs or races, or hot runs in summer, or just looking like you care what you wear to work out in.
I wouldn’t take them for a marathon where I might have gels, phone, subway ticket etc.
I love every On Running Product I have purchased! These shorts delivered while I ran a 100 mile ultra marathon. No chaffing and the lightweight properties make it a comfortable and supported ride for short and long distances.
The shorts are not too short and not too long which makes it for a great streamlined fit. Honestly the perfect short for me.
I really wanted to like these! I like the material. It is lightweight and breathable. I also liked the look of them. The problem was that the inner liner just wasn’t comfortable. I run a lot and have lots of running bottoms but found this liner just didn’t provide the right support but was still too tight.

A featherweight runner’s short with a built-in liner—designed for the trail and styled for the city
Reviews From Real Customers
I have tried many brands’ 5in running shorts and by far these are the best ones. The length is good for running and not too short for running errands in town. The leg opening is not too wide which can be embarrassing for some super shorts.
The pockets are generous and the zippered one fits my Samsung Note20. Not that I will do often for runs due to the weight of the phone can pull down the shorts slightly. One suggestion I have for future improvement is to put the hidden key pocket on the opposite side to the zippered pocket so that my car key won’t be hitting the phone.
Can’t wait to see what more Myles can do to these shorts in the future.
I’ve probably owned almost every revision of the Switchback Shorts, and they remain my favorite running shorts because of the flattering fit, comfortable materials, side pockets, and phone pockets! Unfortunately, the most recent revision of these shorts as of this review seems to have a design flaw with the side pocket zipper, as there is no bottom zipper stop and nothing preventing the zipper from popping off when opening the zipper pocket.
Customer service has been fantastic and quickly offered a replacement pair of shorts, but my second one had the same issue. Because of this, it appears to be a design flaw and not a one-off manufacturing defect.
1 star for the defective phone pocket zipper, but an extra star for the great customer service.
The material is incredibly comfortable, the shorts feel great for any type of exercise. I do have a concern that it won’t hold up thought. The perforations are great during exercise but they snag really easily (noticed in the first few weeks of wearing).
The liner is realllly small and causes discomfort/pulls the short down because of how tight the liner is under the crotch/butt region. I even sized up to hopefully avoid this issue. Additionally, the no bounce phone pocket doesn’t fit my iphone.
I don’t even have the largest model iphone, so that pocket isn’t really useful for its intended use. In terms of length and material though you can’t beat these shorts, and they look great. I think a liner-less option would be great and would alleviate the only discomfort of the shorts.
Overall I would recommend, I’m sure the liner issues aren’t typical for every body type!.

Love the shorts. Would like a couple of changes to make them perfect. 1. the liner is white. black would be better so it doesn’t look like I’m taking my phone out of my underwear. 2. Love the inside pocket for my phone.
However, the zipper pocket is on the same side. so if i put my money clip in that pocket for safety, both items are on top of each other so it gets bulky. Would be great if the zipper pocket was on the opposite side of the phone pocket.
or make both pockets zip. Otherwise, fit and all else is great.
Overall, the fit of the shorts was uncomfortable. I wear an XL in every other brand (Under Armour, New Balance, Nike, etc. ). But, in these, I went to XXL because the XL were so uncomfortable. But, the fit was so drastically different that I don’t use either pair that I bought.
I also ordered two pairs and only received one. Customer Service was good about replacing them, but the exchange process was a bit of a pain. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend them based on the fit alone.
The shorts are basically perfect. Full range of motion squats and secure phone pocket for running. Maybe if the inner lining was a different color other than white or another color was offered. Other than that really good.
They do run a bit small so I’d say go a size up from the recommend.

Reviews From Real Customers
These shorts arrived and I was excited to give them a try! They feel very lightweight and soft, and the grey color is a lovely light grey/lavender color. They have a zipper pocket on the back of the waistband and is large enough for a few keys and some cards, which is handy for carrying my ID, insurance card, and car key while I run.
They also have a few small pockets on the inside of the front of the waistband, which can be useful for gels or small snacks. Unfortunately there is no spot for a phone (I don’t enjoy holding my phone and am not a fan of the arm bands), but these shorts would be perfect for a group activity where I don’t want to listen to music or I just use my watch on my run.
The sizing is a little larger than Under Armour brand shorts (my go to is their “speedpocket” style, size M for me) but would run true to size based on Nike shorts (I generally wear size S in Nike shorts).
I had absolutely zero problems with chaffing, as these shorts are very thin and slick, so they never stuck to my legs. The length is great, and I’ve found some new shorts to be too short for my comfort, but these are comfortably long and non-revealing without looking like soccer shorts.
I’m excited to take these shorts on the trails while backpacking, as they seem like the perfect short for groomed woody trails!.
I’ve worn these once, for a four hour trail run in the Zion backcountry, and I’m a fan. My personal highlights: 1) Briefs/elastic: the design accommodates a more athletic build better than most briefs in other shorts I’ve worn.
When I first tried them on, I was worried that the elastic was too snug, but decided to give them a go. I’m glad I did: I didn’t notice the elastic at all on the run, but I did notice that these briefs stayed put 100% of the time.
No wedgies, no nonsense. That’s a first for me. 2) Balance of lightweight and durable: these are incredibly lightweight and dry really quickly. While I figured they’d be awesome in the hot summer, I was concerned about durability.
I am happy to report that they handled brushing by branches, stomping through creeks, and scrambling over sandstone boulders with no snags. Time will tell if these can hold up to summers in the mountains.
One note: these have a 5” inseam, which is longer than my usual preference. I actually loved it for being on trail, though I did notice a little fabric bunching between the legs a few times. I’d call it more annoying than anything, as it wasn’t uncomfortable nor chafing; just an observation to share, which I assume is the product of having more fabric in the length.
I really, really wanted to like these shorts but will be returning them. I bought these shorts because the website description says “Built-in boxer-brief style mesh liner” but that is not accurate. They have a normal brief liner.
I’ll run in both so though I was disappointed, I decided to try them out anyway. I also notified REI about the incorrect website description weeks ago and unfortunately it still has not been updated.
The material for these shorts are awesome. maybe the best of any running short I’ve tried. lightweight, stretchy, breathable. The pockets are great. two pouch pockets for gels and a zip pocket that can fit a phone, though I never tried using it.
The biggest issue I have is with the waistband. I wear a size M in every short I’ve tried (Patagonia, Brooks, Nike, NB, Altra, North Face, etc) and bought a M in these. The thick waist band doesn’t have a lot elasticity to it and I guess is too big for me (5’10”, 160, 31-32″ waist).
I can cinch it with the draw string, but eventually they ride up on me while I’m running so the waist band is sort of floating up by my belly button while the liner creeps up and gives me a wedgie. This short has potential, but needs to be fixed.
Make it a 2-in-1 with a boxer brief liner and fix the waistband and this could be the best trail running short out there. Make it a 4″ inch split. and mind blown!!! Really hope someone is listening.
Conclusion
There are a few different types of men’s running shorts with phone pockets available on the market. The most popular type is the ones with a drawstring waistband and a pocket on the side. These are usually made from a lightweight material such as mesh or nylon.
They are designed to be breathable and allow your skin to breathe while you are running. The pocket on the side is large enough to hold most smartphones, and some even have a key hook inside so you can keep your keys safe while you are running.
Another type of men’s running shorts with a phone pocket is the kind that has an elastic waistband. These are usually made from a heavier material such as polyester or cotton. They are not as breathable as the mesh or nylon shorts, but they will stay in place better and will not ride up as you are running.
The pockets on these shorts are typically smaller than the ones on the drawstring shorts, but they will still hold most smartphones.
No matter what type of men’s running shorts with a phone pocket you choose, you will be able to keep your phone safe and secure while you are out on your run.
