12 Best Low Carb Low Sugar Protein Bars (2023 Updated)

I had already had the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavor in the past and knew I had liked it. The Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and Vanilla Almond flavors were good as well. However, the Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Chocolate Mint, and Coconut flavors were literally inedible for me.

The brownie has a thick coating and the taste is just overloaded. The mint flavor tastes like toothpaste, I would hope for more of an Andes or thin mints taste, but it’s like York peppermint patties (which I find gross), and it has that same overload coating as the brownie flavor.

The coconut is just straight up gross. I couldn’t even power through it. I threw it out. I have since bought a box of the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and bought a 12 pack of the vanilla shake, and a 4 pack of the coffee shake, both which were good.

I really look forward to trying the chocolate shake when that restocks.

The best tasting plant based protein bars that does not give me cravings. Usually I eat vegan protein bars and they make me feel hungrier rather than satisfied. When on longer hikes that is essential.

I found these bars because I bought ~10 kinds of other vegan bars to find the best one for me. These are organic, soy free, stevia free (stevia makes me feel weird), gluten free. I regularly eat the Peanut Butter Cup, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Chocolate Mint, Coconut Chocolate Almond, Chocolate Fudge Brownie.

All of them are 5 stars for me. Depends on what mood I am in. I haven’t tried the other flavors. I haven’t received any compensation for this. I wrote this because I wasted so much money on testing out the other vegan bars that I was hoping I could make the process easier for someone looking for a plant based bar.

I am 100% plant based for several years now. Gluten free for much longer.

Seriously loving these! Really appreciate that i could try so many flavors for a good price. The flavors and texture are great. Most protein bars are like stale or soggy soda crackers that flavor was waved near, these are a great texture with good flavor.

I even liked the flavors I didn’t expect to. They also have loads of protein without loads of fat, which is often not the case. I’ve since bern trying the new flavors & bought more of my favorites from the variety pack.

Could they be improved? Sure, I’d like a bit more coconut & chocolate in the coconut chocolate almond, a bit more lemon in the lemon cashew, and a bit more chocolate in the peanut butter cup but they are still good as they are.

The chocolate fudge brownie is the best of its kind I’ve found. Thank you Aloha!.

This bar has a really nice salted caramel flavor not so much white chocolate or peanuts but you do get a few crunchy bits of crushed peanuts on top. The white chocolate coating is super thin. The protein taste is minimal but you do get somewhat of an artificial aftertaste rapidly.

The texture is chewy, not too firm, a bit soft. The protein base has a few caramelized bits in it. Overall it’s a great tasting protein bar but I prefer Grenade’s version of this flavor.

Okay, i’m a woman who hates meat and lentils but once I started lifting I had to get really intentional about eating enough protein. If you’re looking for a sweeter protein bar, that’s more similar to a baked good/candy, this is the ultimate (Their hazelnut + nugat is also legitimately like eating a snickers).

It also has a bit more protein than a lot of bars, at 20g / bar, and only 200 calories. Many people may not look out for this, but i also try to avoid palm oil. it’s an unsustainable product and is destroying the rainforest, but you’ll find it in tons of sweets.

so i love that barebells are palm oil free, too.

Ranked best to worst of flavors I’ve tried (even though really, they’re all good) 1. caramel cashew 2. white chocolate almond 3. salty peanut 4. hazelnut nougat 5. cookies and cream super surprised cookies and cream wasn’t number one, but still good.

macros are decent (let me know if you find anything close to fairlife milk 30g of protein for 150 cals), and they’re the most filling of many protein bars I’ve tried. Still searching, but these are best overall for me considering flavor, macros, and cals.

These new maple salted caramel bars are a winner!! Great taste, nice crispy and smooth texture combination, no weird aftertaste. Love these.

I am in love with the Butter and Salt bars, and now compare everything to them, and these are just much dryer. Decent flavor but texture isn’t nearly as nice

I’m sorry but I found these bars to be virtually inedible – I forced myself to finish one out of the box of 12 I bought because I’d shelled out for a box of 12 each of the white choc salted peanut and the strawberries & cream ones.

I didn’t like the taste. I didn’t like the texture. The photos make it look like there is a good covering of white chocolate with a layer of caramel/strawberry on the top of the bar – the reality is that the chocolate is so thin you can see through to the bar underneath and the layer of caramel is pretty much invisible.

I was trying to find a bar with a good amount of protein but I simultaneously like good, tasty food, and although it has the protein it fails on all other levels.

PBJ is nasty. Tastes nothing like PBJ. Tastes artificial and stale and downright insulting to anyone expecting even the slightest hint of peanut butter or jelly. Like an idiot, I got excited and ordered two boxes.

After trying a few, I contacted these guys to return the remains ones. They weren’t very helpful. They offered “a special exception” for me to pay to return them and they would give my 30% refund. What integrity.

I’d rather trash them or give them away. Buyer beware.

I think some of these reviews expect these to be candy bars. They’re still protein bars so my expectations were tempered. Good texture, the flavor doesn’t taste exactly like pb&j but the subtle fruitiness/change of texture is nice.

I also got a variety pack and this is probably my favorite so far, mostly because I don’t taste a difference between the chocolate based ones. One of the better protein bars I’ve had.

These are surprisingly delicious, one of the best tasting chocolate high quality keto bars I’ve ever eaten! Super smooth mousse texture with no aftertaste. I love that there are no artificial sweeteners.

It’s a decent value vs. Perfect bars. For those complaining about the price, you can’t compare these to cheap artificially flavored and artificially sweetened bars with fillers.

This is a delicious keto friendly bar that is great for a snack or dessert. Being on the Keto diet can be challening at first, but foods like this make it so much easier to achieve your health goals.

You will never regret the Keto diet, it has greatly improved my health and the health of family members who have recently been diagnosed with cancer. Foods like this bar, you will never regret trying, they are delicious and satisfy your hunger completely.

I was looking for protein bar. This looked like a decent choice. Bar of fluffy chocolate reminded me of fluffy center of 3 Musketeers bar. Not overly sweet, taste was good considering it’s a protein bar.

Most I’ve eaten so far are too sweet, dry or gritty, rather oily. I’d eat this one again.

These bars were a staple in my daily diet for two years, but then something changed a few months ago, which turned out to be a forced recipe change. I find the taste and texture intolerable now. In the past, at their best, they tasted almost like cookie dough, but even the less-good batches previously (because every batch was a bit different) were many times better than the current recipe.

To be as fair as possible, I should say that I am not a big fan of protein bars, anyway, so I was barely tolerating them to begin with (although I became accustomed to them over time and actually enjoyed the really good batches).

So, it’s not surprising that any negative change would render them intolerable for me. HOWEVER, the customer service rep. whom I spoke to last week assured me that they’re working on getting the recipe back to its original state of goodness as they’ve had to deal with a change in the tapioca fiber they’d been using.

So I wouldn’t be surprised if the bars are tasty again very soon. In the meantime, I’ll be trying and hopefully loving the new snickerdoodle bars. 🙂 I’m not giving up on Bhu bars!.

My son normally eats the Salted Caramel Pecan bars and loves them. I mistakenly ordered these (the packaging looks similar). He says the PB bar tastes good but he prefers the texture of the caramel bar.

I would have to agree the PB bar texture is more crumbly compared to the caramel bar but not negatively so. just personal preference. This bar is good and we will order them again.

I have always loved the chocolate chip and chocolate coconut bhu bars and was very excited to try a new flavor. The PB choc chip did not disappoint! They have full peanuts scattered in for a little crunch.

It’s a guilt free option to replace Reese cups! I love the low sugar/high protein ratio and they don’t taste like protein powder!.

No Cow can be hit or miss with their various flavors. This one is SO good. It has a natural, non-fake taste. (Mind you, I regularly use alternative sweeteners and am used to the flavor. But there are some natural sweeteners that are disgusting.

This is not one of them. ) The texture is so rich and has pieces of shredded coconut in it, and the chocolate is so smooth and tasty. It really feels like a dessert and truly hits the spot when I’m a little hungry after dinner.

(It is higher in fat than any of the other bars, so keep that in mind. ).

I’ve tried a lot of different bars in the past and I have to say that the no cow bars as for me are the best. I recommend anyone to try them. My favorites are the chocolate dipped bars. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the chocolate on the last batch of bars I purchased was white and would break apart when I opened the bar.

I’m not sure but I think they might’ve melted due to the heat while shipping. I’d like someone from NO COW to contact me and discuss this. It does take away from the bar a little bit.

Normally I love NoCow products, and ordered a box of dipped. For me the texture and overall taste was less satisfying than other options. I prefer the peanut butter and also with mini chocolate bits.

The dipped had a chalky aftertaste. Also the mint just didn’t add to the mix. Just my opinion. Thanks.

We have become more health conscious over the past few years. My wife and I are now in our 40s so we’ve tried several ways to snack healthier. In our attempt to find snacks that are healthy but tasty, we have tried dozens of different types of protein bars.

The One Brand bar with Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough is ok but has a bland taste. Comparing it to other brands, it has more calories than brands that actually taste better. I generally like the taste of cookie dough but this bar did not taste as good as I’d hoped.

However, on the positive side, there is more protein and less sugar than others out there which does help make up for the lack of taste.

Recently, I’ve been trying to live a healthier more active life. I have the working out part down, but I have a MAJOR sweet tooth. I purchased a few protein bars and most have been just gross. Last week, I tried the One Brand Chocolate Cookie dough Protein Bar.

It’s actually pretty good! It doesn’t have any kind of weird/bad aftertaste, and the texture isn’t mushy like some other bars I’ve eaten. It really tastes like I’m cheating, and I’m not. I don’t feel guilty about eating one.

It also has 20 grams of protein! That helps me out after a run. I’m very satisfied with the one bar. I’m going to try out the other flavors as well.

I bought these pumpkin pie bars around October 2019, They made me fall in love with One Bars! They might be a little sentimental to me as well, I was struggling with mental health and I was out of shape and unhappy.

I decided to change my life around and I started dieting extremely strictly and these bars fit into my diet perfectly! Great Low-Carb option! They were my best friend, my only snacks since I cut out all candy, chocolate, chips, essentially ALL junk food! These bars are amazing and I am not saying they changed my life but they were awesome and helped me in the process.

I was just browsing online to see if these were available because I remembered how much I enjoyed them, unfortunately they are out of season and I can‘t get them in Switzerland where I moved and currently reside persuing my professional athletic career.

Anyway, these bars are incredible and really felt like Halloween time, taste exactly like Pumpkin Pie! Thanks One! Cheers!.

if you’re a neurotic little health nut like me, you know the pain of the search for a perfect bar. it seems like every option has a million grams of sugar, or else tons of carbs, or else tastes totally yucky.

factor in being vegan and obsessive about impeccable macros and you’re pretty much looking for a needle in a haystack. but no cow is that needle! every day i wake up and thank the powers that be for this miracle of plant-based protein.

in a desert of borderline candy bars disguised as healthy snacks, no cow is a holy oasis. there are no skips in this pack! every flavor hits––although i’d imagine the funky pea taste is maybe not for everyone’s palate––but my favorites would have to be lemon meringue and chocolate fudge brownie.

i can’t wait to try the new dipped variety and sample all the wonderful flavors to come! ditch those brick-like egg white date nut bars (you know the ones), say goodbye to sugar-drenched whey derivatives, and leave those high-calorie “protein” cookies on the side of the road: no cow is THE bar!.

I’ve tried several No Cow flavored bars and this is possibly my least favorite one so far. On opening the bar, I couldn’t tell what flavor this bar was supposed to be. I was so confused that I then asked a few members of my family to taste test it and none guessed anything remotely close, and they both remarked at how artificial the sweet flavor seemed.

I get that this is a seasonal flavor, but this is a flat out miss. The bar just tastes and smells like sweeteners to me. I could have had a weird batch, but I personally would not recommend this at all, or even if you are considering adding this into your rotation or adding on to your order in place of another flavor you like more.

Also noted: some reviews below mentioned that their bars were close to expiration and on checking, mine expire in Jun23 (reviewed in Sep22), so I don’t think that’s the problem.

I’ve been looking for tasty plant-based protein bars that don’t have soy, as it hurts my stomach. These bars *almost* hit the mark. I ate them as a snack before or after my workouts, and they never upset my stomach.

I didn’t dislike any of the flavors, but I preferred the non-fruity ones. My favorite flavors are chunky peanut butter, chocolate fudge brownie, and sticky cinnamon roll. The fruity flavors artificial to me, and it would be nice if the ingredients included real fruit or fruit juice instead of just “natural flavors”.

As for texture, they’re smooth and easy to eat, but I prefer bars with more chunks (like nuts, choco chips, dried fruit, etc. ). I might come back to these again, but for now I’m going to keep looking.

I grab a bar of some kind every morning with my coffee. That’s my everyday breakfast. I’ve tried so many bars. All the bars at the grocery, the local REI, and even boutique health food companies. I’m not trying to be Keto so when I saw a Keto specific bar I was a little hesitant.

Man am I glad I did! Hands down my favorite bar out there. Real ingredients, nearly zero sugar (which I love), and freakin’ good!! My favs are the original bars (chocolate/peanut butter, and the chocolate/mint).

Keto or not- just try them.

The very first set of keto bars that I’ve actually purchased with no complaints/qualms about re-purchasing. I love that’s there’s no compromise on ingredients, quality and that it’s vegan ,certified organic and gluten free, although I’m not necessarily a practicing vegan.

A mildly sweet tasting bar with subtle hints of the strawberries and a slight crumbly cheesecake crust like-texture. Not enough strawberries for my liking but nevertheless I’m a very satisfied customer.

It’s a bit of an acquired taste if your transitioning from/ comparing it to those overtly sweet and crunchy keto bars but would definitely repurchase and yea there are also other flavors and options I’m curious to try.

I have been purchasing Keto bars individually from Sprouts for months but Sprouts usually had only one favor. I decided to get the variety pack. After trying every favor, I have two favorites I will consistently get now this one and chocolate dipped strawberry.

All are good but this one, wow! Additionally, these bars always satisfy my hunger for most of the day until dinner. A major plus.

My usual protein bar has not been available in my area so I was on the hunt for something comparable. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to like this for no particular reason other than I’m super picky when it comes to protein bars but I was pleasantly surprised! This has great flavor and doesn’t feel like you’re skimping on taste or enjoyment.

It is soft on the inside and slightly chewy (almost like a brownie consistency). It’s made with whey protein so it’s gluten free, only 190 calories, 16g of protein and only 3g of sugar! I use this as my breakfast or lunch and I am completely satisfied as far as feeling satiated and not still hungry.

I can’t speak to the other flavors but the mint chocolate chip is really good! I purchased this from my local Dollar General so definitely on par with being budget-friendly. It’s also super convenient to take for travel or keep in your workspace.

FITCRUNCH Snack Bars are delicious and healthy too. Each bar is only 190 calories with 16 grams of protein and only 14 carbohydrates. These bars are also gluten free. I tried the Mint Chocolate Chip bars and with my first bite I said OMG these are really good.

I have always been a bit skeptical with snack bars because the ones I have tried either taste dry and tasteless or they are very high in carbohydrates which trigger your appetite in a short while to went something more to eat.

I found after eating one FITCRUNCH bar I could go hours without thinking for craving a snack. These snack bars would work well with a low carb diet or even a keto diet. They are tasty and I will say they fill you up so you are not interested in eating the whole box because they taste delicious! Chef Robert Irvine, who I have seen on different food network shows developed these FITCRUNCH Bars which he states on the box “I want to empower people, through food and fitness, to thrive each day.

” I think his FITCRUNCH Bars will do just that. I got some for my niece who is attending college to carry in her back pack for a healthy snack between classes when she doesn’t have time to eat. She was wowed by the taste of the FITCHRUNCH Bars too! There are 9 bars in each box so they should last a week or longer for most people.

So take it from a skeptic these FITCRUNCH Bars are good and healthy too!.
