A long range dog training collar is a type of electronic collar that is used to train dogs at a distance. It is similar to a remote-controlled collar, but the remote is not needed. The collar has a built-in transmitter that sends signals to the dog.
The dog wears a receiver on his collar that picks up the signals and responds accordingly. The most common type of long range dog training collar is the invisible fence collar.

The shock head would not contact the skin directly protecting your dog from skin injury. Please use shock mode carefully. And especially the higher-level shock should always be the last mode to use Waterproof Dog Training Collar: The collar receiver is IP65 waterproof.
Your dog can swim or bathe freely wearing the collar. But please make sure to close the charging port when immersing the receiver in water and please dont put it in the water for a long time. The collar is adjustable from 7 to 25.
In my opinion, this is the best budget e-collar out there. Both the receiver and transmitter are compact, full featured and have decent battery life. IN USE- I have trained my dog to return to me when I use the vibrate or electrical stimulation mode.
With vibrate mode, she complies the vast majority of the time. Occasionally she won’t respond because she is fixated on something (a scent, squirrels, etc) and I will use a low electrical stimulation (9 out of 100) to get her attention.
The ONLY time I use a higher level (19 of 100) is when her distraction has the potential to cause her physical harm (i. e. – she is running toward the road and isn’t responding to the vibration stimuli).
That being said, I do keep the electrical stimulation level set to 15 as default, since in an emergency I won’t have time to increase it from a lower level and I use the vibration mode 95% of the times anyway.
As good as this product is, there are a few things that could be improved upon. 1. I wish the electrical stimulation button was lower profile- it is too easy to accidentally press. I disassembled the remote casing (easy) and sliced off the top of the rubber ‘shock’ button so that it sits almost flush with the casing.
(I made sure to bevel the edges to ensure that when the button was pressed, it wouldn’t get stuck under the edge of the case causing the dog to get continuously shocked!) 2. The nylon collars are of low quality.
The plastic clips broke and the stitching on one collar failed. I highly recommend that you buy the version with the PVC collars. 3. As to the claims of the receivers being water-resistant well, I don’t know.
I had an older version of this e-collar model (the remote’s styling was slightly different) but water penetrated the receiver and it died. I had noticed that the rubber plug for the charging port fit poorly and was likely the point of compromise.
The good news is that the receivers in this newer version seem to have been improved and the charging port plug has a much tighter fit. Still, I decided to put some electrical tape on the back of the receivers to cover the charging port and help prevent water intrusion.
So far, so good! IMPORTANT- As with any e-collar, make sure that the shock level is set correctly and the collar is fitted properly. Failing to do so can result in the collar failing to stimulate your dog, or worse, it can cause the dog to receive a painful and traumatizing shock! Like most other e-collars, the stimulation can be set to absurdly high levels.
The highest level I have EVER needed was a 15 out of 100, and that was an emergency. Also, remember that the electrical conductivity increases when your dog is wet. A stimulation level that might feel like a slight tingle when when your dog is dry could feel like a painful shock when it is wet.
Adjust the level accordingly! As for the fit, the collar should be quite snug. Tight enough so that the receiver won’t move at all, even when the dog runs. The two prongs need to be in contact with the dog’s skin or the electric stimulation won’t work.
I bought this expecting it to last a year or so, knowing I’d probably have to replace it every 12 or so months. It’s been a year and a half. The batteries are starting to tire, holding less and less of a charge.
I get anywhere from a day to a day and a half now. The original charge time on the collars was about 3 days. The shock feature seems weaker with age. Also, the controller, as mentioned in previous comments, falls into a stand-by sleep and can take 2 pushes to relay a correction; this has always been the case.
The controller also can last me 60+ days before needing a charge. My dog is a huge water dog, and the collars have gotten plenty wet at the doggy splash pad as well as the rain with no issues. The back charge port on the collars have rubber stoppers and I think some people may forget to close those before collaring their dog.
That being said, my dog has not gone swimming with the collars, so they have not been fully submerged. Keep that in mind. The plastic neck adjuster thing that allows you to loosen or tighten the collars sucks.
Simple solution that worked for me was to adjust the collars to fit snuggly with 2 fingers under the collar, and then I tied a permanent knot right behind the slider so that it couldn’t loosen. The prongs that make contact with my dog’s skin have never come off, nor have they rotted or broken or caused problems like some people claimed.
If you want a decent affordable collar, for the price and the usage, this would be your better bet. Expect to replace these yearly. If you get more use out of them, fantastic.
Love this collar. I use this reinforce verbal commands to my very stubborn high drive dog at distances. We live on a farm where she is off leash 100% of the time there are tons of distractions that she fixates on with this collar I am able to use the beep and vibration functions to call her off things like the barn cats or geese at the pond.
I reserve the shock function only to deter her from things that will hurt her worse than the discomfort of the collar, such as if she‘s running toward the road. The vibration is much stronger than any other collar we’ve tried and is almost always enough to get her to return to me.
The light is helpful for when I let her out at night it‘s easier to keep track of where she is. The battery life is excellent the remote has been charged once in 4 months the collar usually needs charged once every two weeks.
The range of the remote is fantastic I have used it to recall my dog at easily 80 yards. The only thing I would change about this device is i wish it were compatible with regular collars as the one that comes with it is narrow and has a plastic buckle.
Features :〠SAFE REMOVABLE RUBBER SHOCK HEAD】Extra conductive silicone for the contact points is safer than other metal one, shock head would not contact the skin directly, protecting your dog from skin injury.
The shock head is removable, if you don’t need the shock mode, you can screw the shock head out to reduce the friction on the dog’s neck〠2600ft SUPER FAR REMOTE RANGE】The remote control range of this dog training collar up to 2600ft (875 yards), it is easy to train your dog in both the park or backyard, never worry it runs too far.
You can control each collar separately or together. If you want to control each collar separately, you can pair receivers in different channels. If you want to control each collar at the same time, you can pair receivers to the same channel.
〠BUILT-IN LED LIGHT AND REFLECTIVE COLLAR】Special built-in LED light on the receiver and remote helps you to locate your dog even in a dark environment. And the reflective strap on the collar can reflect the light at night to ensure the safety of your dog, perfect for night walking〠WATERPROOF DOG TRAINING COLLAR】The receiver on the collar is IP65 waterproof, your dog can swim or bath freely with the collar on.

This dog training collar is recommended for medium and large dogs〠4 TRAINING MODES】The shock collar for dogs offer customized Static Shock and Vibration 1-99 levels, as well as a Tone mode and Light mode.

The SportDOG Brand FieldTrainer 425X is the smallest and lightest e-collar built for in-the-field training or hunting with close working dogs. Consistency and perfect timing are critical to developing your sporting dog, so the remote is quickly and easily operated without having to look at it – which lets you focus on your dog and not your equipment.
With only a slight movement of the dial and the push of a button, you will be able to deliver a tone, vibration, or one of the 21 levels of static stimulation. Use these stimulation types to communicate with up to 3 dogs (with purchase of Add-A-Dog collars) out to 500 yards with any of the 425 models.
Uses rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Waterproof and submersible up to 25 ft.
My beagles and I regularly go hiking and I have them off leash. I had been using Amazon electric collars to beep/ vibrate them when wandering. However, those collars were not always reliable thus I searched for collars with more consistency and range power.
I looked for weeks and read many articles/reviews. Results clearly indicated Sportdog was one of the best products. I finally decided to invest my money and see where it would take us. Initially, the product was great after I read the directions and synced the collar.
I did not like that there is a small button on the back that must be pushed to adjust shock intensity. I am a 105 women so you can imagine my fingers are small. I had to carry around a toothpick in my pocket so that small button could be pushed.
It was annoying, but not a deal breaker for the product. I continued to use Sportdog on a few other hikes and all wad relatively well. I noticed my beagle only responded to level 7 shocks which I thought was odd.
Also, the beep was pretty faint sounding which wasn’t great, but again not a deal breaker. One day I went to use Sportdog for a longer hike and made sure it was charged. I decided to use the provided lanyard, but noticed there was NO clip to hook them together.
There happened to be an elastic tie at the end so I TRIPLE tied a knot to secure it together. Again, it was inconvenient but I managed. On our hike, my dog was responding well to the collar until he suddenly took off.
I had to find my toothpick to switch gears as quick as I could to reign him in. Usually when he gets shocked at a higher level he will yelp/cry. I knew the collar could not be working as I never heard him.
I waited and waited and he thankfully returned. The first thing I did was check his collar to make sure it was tight and it still was. I watched the green light flick so I knew it was still on. I turned it off and then back on to be sure.
I tried a vibration feature and noticed it wasn’t working. I worked up through all seven levels of shock stimulates and my beagle NEVER flinched (he was standing 5-10 feet away). I knew the collar had stopped working and there was no explanation why.
I was walking back to the parking lot and decided I would return the product. I looked down on the lanyard Sportdog provided and noticed the remote wasn’t there. I knew it had to been within the last 50 feet of my walk.
I searched and never found it. I feel I did my best to use this product despite the frustrations. My largest concern was having to push the smallest button on the back of the remote to switch static levels.
It is very inconvenient in a moment of fear and carrying around a toothpick to push that tiny button was quite ridiculous. The lanyard needs a clip such as connecting a leash to a dog collar. It was a great idea, but it was poorly designed and caused me to lose the remote.
I am now out $200 bucks and can’t return the product because the remote slipped off a poorly designed lanyard. I had thought I was investing in a product that would last me years, not two months. I am going back to my $30 dollar Amazon brand because it was just as reliable (if not better) than Sportdog and it was easier to adjust levels at a quicker pace especially when I need it the most.
The 435 X series is really nice and has a small remote control that fits into my hand (I am only 5’4). The XS series is stronger (for large dogs that can be stubborn) and was too much for my need. that’s why I really wanted the X series.
The 825 X is the same as the 425 X except is has a longer distance reach (1/2 mile) but the remote is a little big bigger. Works great. make sure you read the manual for the different settings and understand that this is not a training tool per say but a corrective tool (meaning your dog has to know and understand commands BEFORE using it).
Do NOT use as a punitive tool. The nice thing is this item allows you to choose either tone, vibration, or static mode. 99% of the time I only need to use vibration for my dog to get his attention (he cN get sobfocused on a scent that he doesn’t pay attention to my commands).
He sometimes takes off after a rabbit/wild pig etc. and that’s when I have to use the static mode to quickly get his attention away from his chase. I really like that it is waterproof (my dog swims into ponds and rivers).
some other brands claim to be waterproof but really mean to say water resistant! If it doesn’t show water depth then it is not waterproof. Quality product worth the money.
I was looking for a collar for safety and as a training tool. One year old Bully that occasionally pushes boundaries on our property. For her safety because of other dogs in the area, we do not want her within 4 ft of the property line.
It only took a couple times in different areas on a very low frequency (2) for her to understand the concept. However at times I leave it on her, and this is where my disappointment comes in. The battery in the collar only stays charged foraybe 48 hours.
And that is only activating it 2 or 3 times in that timeframe. I bought this, knowing I was spending a good bit more money then other products expecting an overall better product, both in distance, features and battery life is very important.
This collar fell very short for me. I’m not sure about my exchange options, but I definitely cannot count on this at home much less in the mountains or the beach.

DogCare Shock Dog Training Collar uses advanced technology to start a new communication method with your sidekick.
I have had the collar for a couple weeks now. Seems to be working very well, battery charge holds quite a while and love the battery indicator on the remote for both the collar and the remote. I took one start off for two reasons: 1) only able to charge collar or remote at a time.
2) a bit of a delay on the response of the collar from the time you push the buttons. Not sure if I am liking the fact that each push of the button on the remote only sends out one signal rather than a continuing signal till you let go the button on the remote.
My pup is old enough and is well behaved enough to where some of these issues are not a problem, but when we first started training this definitely would have been an issue for me. Overall excellent product and I love the audible, the vibration and the shock features.
For one year Old English Lab. Not neutered, was getting a little defiant, and was running out into the street, and eating ALL KINDS of garbage. Was reticent to get a shock collar, I could NEVER hurt any animal, but only had to shock him ONCE in two weeks ! He is a different Dog ! As long as you follow the “Command, beep, vibrate order?” He now stops his running away, AND drops any “food” he finds usually just from the beep ! Half the time just the command works ! (Which NEVER did) He knew I was too old to catch him, so there was never any consequence to his misbehavior.
I truly feel this thing will probably save his life, either by not getting run over, or from a blockage or poison he’d pick up on the walks. Labs eat EVERYTHING !.
Precise stimulation levels from 0 to 127 allow you to choose from low to high, as well as nick, constant stimulation or nonstimulating pager or vibration depending on your dogs obedience level. Plus, enhanced contact points provide increased water resistance.
Helicopter dog mom here-I was very worried about using an e-collar with our red golden retriever when one of the trainers I hired said to get it. I never used one before but he showed me and had me practice.
It has saved her life multiple times. My biggest dream was to walk our farm with her off leash and this is the only collar that has finally let our dream come true! 25 acres and many hikes later and I am SO THANKFUL I gave this a try.
We’ve trained a for about a year and I am so happy for the freedom it has allowed us and has made our relationship even stronger. We’ve been able to lower the levels since she knows her boundaries know and I feel safe that if I need to turn it up, I have the option.
I know a lot of people are against e-collars but it has saved her from running into the busy street (that claims deer everyday) and saved her from wild animals (coyote). We have had the happiest of days recently being able to protect the horses by walking the entire paddocks a few times a day and checking the trails.
While we do leash walks ok, my dog and I are happiest walking for miles off leash/freely. I highly recommend to anyone nervous about getting this-it really is worth it when you use it correctly! My dog and I are both happy!.

An Upland E-Collar is a must have for my setters. I need to know where they are and whether they are on point in heavy cover. I have used another brand Upland e-collar for past 10 years. This Dogtra 2702 e-collar is far better.
I like to keep the beeper off as much as possible (it puts the pheasants on high alert). It is imperative that I have the ability to turn the beeping on and off by remote control. The two features of this e-collar better than any other upland beeper is its Locator — Beeps anytime and in any mode– and the ‘pager’ feature –which is collar vibrator.
i use the pager feature to ‘call back’ the dog. I just rescued an English Setter puppy. This collar has helped me training him on call back and keeping him at a proper hunting distance. Other features include –1 mile range, a shock setting from 1- 140 (my dog is set at 50—at 45 he pays e no attention), very small handheld, and all the buttons are simple.
My only complaint is the mode and on/off button are the same and it sometimes takes me a few times of turning it on an off to get it to change modes. I also love that the beeper is on the same device as the e-collar shocker.
This is my 3rd Dogtra collar and the first to have issues. After a couple training sessions and first hunt of the season the collar will not turn on. I will return to Dogtra but will not have it when I leave for MI grouse hunt this week.

Used the collar on my dog about a week. When she would ride in my car and see we were close to home she gets and start digging on the (leather) car seats. I used my voice command for stop what you’re doing and lay down.
When she didn’t I pressed the button for the bell. She kept going so I used the command again with the vibration button, she immediately stopped and laid down in her car seat. The vibration was enough to get her calm and to stop digging into my seats.
The next couple days I would have to do the same thing and it worked each time. On the third day she didn’t stop after the voice command, bell or vibration, so I reluctantly used the shock button (on a very low setting).
She did not like that at all and stopped and jumped back into her car seat. After that she has consistently stopped and got back in her seat after the voice command only! I think she figured out the bell was next, then vibration, then shock.
I’m glad I only had to use the shock part once. After a week I didn’t put the collar on her at all. She has consistently responded correctly to my voice every time since.
This collar is decent, but I would never recommend it for a first time ecollar user. The buttons on the remote are extremely easy to press. So easy that I am a little anxious anytime my thumb does not rest on the vibrate button.
When the button is compressed it will continuously send a vibrate/shock. While I appreciate that feature with the vibrate, I don’t like it for the shock. There is also not a way to adjust the intensity of the shock without first pushing the shock button.
The default change is based on whichever button is pushed last. Also, I had to use some handy work (toothpick) in order to thread the strap onto the bottom of the remote. This is a good product for the price point, but only if you are very cautious with the remote.

I ordered this collar about 6 months ago and have gotten great use out of it! It has helped train and control my dog with ease. I did run into one issue with the collar beginning to be somewhat unresponsive to the remote, however I reached out to the customer service team and they were extremely helpful and responded quickly! This is a great company with an extraordinary product! No reason why you should use any other dog collar!.
I’ve been using this collar for several weeks(1-2hrs/day) in the dog park. Battery life is very long that I haven’t charged since the first day. My dog(Husky mix) played in the lake couple times with this collar on.
I use the beep/vibration without the metal parts. She ignores the vibration when she gets too exited but way better than just calling her. Recall got much better with it.

Our new puppy had a problem of eating everything, coats, shoes, furniture, carpet and anything inbetween. We try to redirect him with toys and praise him when he did the right thing. However, when we wasnt watching him continuely, he would go back to his old habits.
The collar sounds a sound, vibration and electric shock. I use the vibration and sound only. I will not shock him, it hurts. After a couple of vibrating sessions,it stopped him immediately. All I have to do is show him the collar and he behaves without even putting it on him.
He has made a complete reversal. Its a conditioned behavior and he has learned only after a very few times of vibration. Love it.
As far as the tone and vibration the product works well. But the shocking feature seems to run the battery down very quick. I can usually get about 4 corrective shocks out of the receiver before the range decreases dramatically and then 1-2 closer shocks before they loose all effectiveness but the tone and vibration will still work.
Works well when it works, but I am very disappointed with battery life and range loss.
Works exactly as intended, to curb unwanted behavior! We haven’t used the shock function, nor do we intend to. The sound and vibration is enough to deter the bad behavior. Both the remote and the collar charge very quickly and easily and hold their charge for quite a long time, we only use the collar when we are out in the yard.

Both remote and receiver will go into standby mode if no operation, which is power-saving. And you can set 3 different channels by adjusting the level of Shock mode and Vibration mode from 0-99 to select the intensity of training.
I bought this to make a silent alarm clock project (sleeping with a collar on is more comfortable than you’d think) I had a nice soft collar I wanted to use it with but its smaller than it looks, so it wouldn’t fit anything wider than the stick band which is quite narrow, I ended up 3d printing an adapter (will be uploading model to thingiverse) so now it fits and is quite comfortable, I will mainly be using the vibrate mode but the shock setting on 0-30 isn’t too unpleasant.
99 packs quite a punch so I wouldn’t recommend using it unless your dog is about tot run into traffic or some other emergency. the beep would be good for recall due to its long range, the vibrate good for a warning and shock for discipline, etc.
for anybody who hasn’t worn one, its more startling than painful. it causes the muscles in your neck to twitch at the same time as feels being lightly flicked with a rubber band but it doesn’t sting after it stops.
it has good battery life and USB charging. the side window has 3 leds, one green status led, and 2 white leds. the white ones can be activated by long pressing the light button on the remote, a short press will turn on the light on the remote, it has good light output and stays on for about 5 mins.
its like the dog equivalent of a head torch. while activeit flashes the green light about once every 8 seconds, but then it goes into a standby mode after about 5 mins, it turns the light off entirely but can still be woken by the remote.
it will take 1 or 2 button presses to wake it up before it will do anything. in this state it can sit in standby for about a week without charging. also, the waterproofing is good and the shock function is still effective even completely submerged.
(took it for a swim out of curiosity). I like the silicone tips as they’re conductive and soft but don’t damage the skin.
IPX7 Unit Review This collar has worked amazingly!!!! Just please make sure to add a additional hole between the holes if you need too because otherwise it will and can be too tight and cause damage.
We had to shave a small spot because my German Shepherds fur was too thick even for the long prongs to get through. It’s made his recall on leashless walks almost flawless! The max we have had to use shock wise was 40 and that was to work on when he dug out in the yard or put his nose in the trash as a deterrent because a puppy gung-ho on something’s hard to distract.
Otherwise a simply 5 to 10 will do with the everyday stuff. Even when he’s really distracted by another dog person or animal a 10 usually gets him to come no problem. My unit came with 2 collar types, 1 unit, 1 remote, 1 set of short bits, 1 set of long bits, charger, conductive rubber covers for bits, and a small wrist lanyard for the remote.
The unit and remote work amazing for me!!! I do wish the beep was louder but otherwise it’s great. No faultiness so far and water resistant like it advertises. Works at an amazing distance and through walls.
I got this just for the vibe and beep function. I don’t even put in the shock nubs, I use it for slight corrections before they commit to something they shouldn’t. The unit itself is a bit large for dogs under 30lbs, I use it on a 33 lb corgi and a 70 lb lab mix.
Both seem to handle the weight of the unit just fine. They shake a bit because of the size but not too much, the remote and collar recharge with a split cable, they seem to recharge well and battery life for just vibrate and beep function is long lasting.
I have only recharged it once in a month. Only problem I have with the unit so far is the inability to tell if the unit is on or not, there is no indication on the remote if the collar is on or not and the led light of the collar does not light to show status, most times I need to beep the remote to tell if the collar is on or not.
Other than that it serves it’s purpose well with good range tested to 200 ft I can’t say what the battery life would be with shock enabled but I would say well worth the $25.

Key Features: 1-Mile Range High Output Nick/Constant Stimulation & HPP Vibration Receiver/Beeper Horn Fully Waterproof 127-Level/Rheostat Dial/LCD Screen Adjustable 3 Sound Levels For Dogs as Small as 35 lbs.
This product was exactly as described. The length of the two collars are long enough to be worn on a smaller or a larger dog. I have two boxers and have plenty of collar length so I feel that they would fit a very large dog.
The control works well and is easy to manipulate. I can easily use the vibrate and shock buttons. The only “oops” thing that could happen is hitting the control shut off and shock button at the same time.
The control shut off button is on one side of the unit and the shock buttons are on the opposite side. So when I am holding the control unit in one hand to shut it off, I have to be careful not to push the shock button in response to the pressure I am putting on the shut off button.
Therefore I remove the collars before I shut the unit off. I am very happy with this product.

I have been using dogtra arc one dog device and now I have 2 dogs so instead of buying another one dog device, I decided to upgrade it to the 2 dogs device. Love it and my dogs are running free most of the time when we are out.
My dogs are happy as they deserved to be able to run free and not on the lead all the time. I am happy because my dogs are happy. My dogs are great at recalls I would say almost 100% however, dogs are like kids it will only take one incident so I would not let my dogs go off the lead without the e-collars on.
The e-collars are my safety measure for my dogs, I know I can use it as an emergency to stop them from chasing birds or anything into the road. Though not many people understand e-collars, so the little remote buttons give me more discretion.
I love it and I think every dog owners should learn how to use it to keep their dogs safe!.
We purchased these colors as a gift to our dogs hahaha. They have been pretty naughty as of lately and these collars so far just putting them on has given them an attitude adjustment. This set offers a flashlight feature a tone feature a vibrate feature as well as shocking.
Turning the light on alone is enough to get our dog’s attention. Our dogs main problem is that they like to wander outside of their yard and when we call them they hide. So the big selling point for me was the flashlight function.
There is the option to turn the colors off when they’re not in use but honestly are dogs wear their collars 24/7 and so far I’m getting a 4 day battery life. I recommend these colors. We only have two dogs, but there is the option for a third collar.
Easy setup and easy to use, and the collars are unique and truly one-size-fits-all.
This collar is amazing. My lab is a extremely hyper dog and loves chasing horses and goats across the street and I could stop him. With this collar he learned quick and these are the pictures. He knows the beeping is a warning then followed by vibration to get his attention.
If he doesn’t then comes the shock but it’s set at 6/100. I tested on my leg to make sure it wasn’t painful to him. I highly recommend to look on YouTube how to properly use a training collar before pushing buttons.
There are many videos and very informative. He loves going outside at night so the flashlight on the collar allows me to see where he’s at. As soon as he hears the beeping he knows to return to me. Guys you can’t go wrong with this.
We bought these as a training device for our deaf dog. We use it mostly to get her attention across the yard using the vibration. We also will ise the shock when she is going crazy barking at the wind.
It definitely gets her attention and she’ll come find us. We have a very large backyard and it reaches throughout the entire thing. The only concern I have is the little rubber protectors have fallen off and gotten lost.
We also use one to charge and one on then switch when the battery is dead it usually lasts about 4 days to a week. The collars are sturdy and comfortable for the pup.
