1. Inside Out (4K)
Studio 1: Pixar
Video Release Date: 2015-11-03
Run time: 102 minutes
Starring:Amy Poehler (voice)Lewis Black (voice)Mindy Kaling (voice)Bill Hader (voice)
From an adventurous balloon ride above the clouds to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award-winning director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc. ,” “Up”) has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places.
In DisneyPixars original movie “Inside Out,” he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all inside the mind. Growing up can be a bumpy road and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco.
Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Rileys mind, where they help advise her through everyday life.
As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
A great movie from front to back that is full of laughs and tears. I still buy my favorite films on physical media (4K discs) even though I have them through streaming services (in this case, Disney+) because I want to be able to watch them in the highest quality.
Movie looks great in 4k and still holds up to this day as one of PIXAR’s best. A personal favorite. Great for the family though as an adult, you think the movie could potentially go into some dark territory, but it doesn’t, so no worries!.
This would have to be one of my favorite 4K disc releases from Pixar. They did a wonderful job with the transfer of this movie and it has great special features. I highly recommend adding this one to your home theater movie collection.
Video in excellent condition, guaranteed to play like new. Digital copies not included. This drama charts the life of a black gay youth named Chiron as he grows up in a rough neighborhood in Miami. In the first segment, Chiron is a ten-year-old nicknamed “Little” (Alex Hibbert) who is taken in by a kindhearted Cuban drug dealer (Mahershala Ali) and his girlfriend (Janelle Mone).
In the middle installment, a teenage Chiron (Ashton Sanders) explores his sexuality as he falls in love with a close friend. The final chapter follows Chiron in his twenties (Trevante Rhodes) as he reconnects with faces from his past.
Directed by Barry Jenkins, Moonlight was adapted from a short play called In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue by Tarell Alvin McCraney.
I wanted this movie because it won the Oscar for the best picture, I knew nothing else about it. The acting in this movie is amazing. So many actors that I had never seen in anything before and I’m not sure why because their performance in this movie blew me away.
I’ve watched it several times and each time I see something that I missed before. If I had to use 3 words to describe this movie they would be gripping, touching and compelling. I definitely see why it one the Oscar for best picture.
The performances by all the actors is wonderful. It also has some great music!.
Moonlight is the type of picture that too often gets overlooked by the public. The story line is seered into your mind by the excellent writing, directing, and of course brilliant acting by all the actors involved not just one.
This movie deals with some very harsh, modern subjects that too often get lost in exploitive tv shows and movies. This truly is a “must see” movie.
“Moonlight” is a sometimes harrowing movie about a black boy who grows up under most unfortunate circumstances, but, as a man could be ultimately considered both a “success” as well as a failure. The inner city dialog adds to the authenticity of the film.
While a very good film, another movie about urban black life should have received the Academy Award for Best Picture: “Fences. “.
Rescued as a child by the legendary assassin Moody (Samuel L. Jackson) and trained in the family business, Anna (Maggie Q) is the world’s most skilled contract killer. But when Moody – the man who was like a father to her and taught her everything she needs to know about trust and survival – is brutally killed, Anna vows revenge.
As she bes entangled with an enigmatic killer (Michael Keaton) whose attraction to her goes way beyond cat and mouse, their confrontation turns deadly and the loose ends of a life spent killing will weave themselves ever tighter.
If you like Maggie Q in her TV series as Nikita then this latest flick is for you. Maggie Q does what she do best – playing a female assassin; so guys please watch out. There’s plenty of action and stunts in this action flick.
This one’s not to be missed. With a well supported cast featuring Samuel L. Jackson, the assassin who trained Maggie and gave her a life and Michael Keaton who plays her nemesis.
This is a rather entertaining movie. Some of the casting seems weird but all the actors did an excellent job. I think a slightly younger actor would have made more sense for keaton’s character. It’s one of the best action films from the last few years.
this movie is the same thing over and over and over, same as past movies, like anna, and atomic blonde trying to feel like john wick. they all just lose it in the middle, this one is no diffrent. the only reason i give this movie full 5 stars is because michael keaton is in this haha.
When her boyfriend dumps her to go to harvard law school, elle woods leaves her sorority life in california, her couture clothes, and fabulous friends to follow him; harvard lawyer, elle, heads to washington d.
c. To stop animal testing within the cosmetics industry.
Reese Witherspoon was born for this role! Both movies are filled with fun and fantasy relating to this character and her needs/hopes/wishes which she fulfills with her diligence and special brand of ambition.
Very cute and enjoyable! I previously purchased the individual movies, then bought this set of 2.
Fun girl movie with a good storyline, good humor and some lessons learned. I bought these movies individually on DVD and have been waiting for them to come out on blu-ray. The combo blu-ray pack is a bonus -thank you! These are just the movies, no bonus material included, so hold onto your old discs if this is important to you.
Sorcerer Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) agreed to defend dimension-hopping teen America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) from an unknown entity looking to exploit her powers. Will he be challenged on his sundry time/space tampering by the mysterious council called the Illuminati.
and will he regret turning to disgraced Avenger Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) for backup? Shock- and cameo-laden Marvel sequel co-stars Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams; Sam Raimi directs.
126 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English. Two-disc set.
I really dislike that the price went up $5 between shelf and register. Forced wokism and hackneyed jokes punctuated by generally bad effects in this lastet pandemic piece don’t mesh with a disjointed, nonsensical plot that counts on the viewer having also seen WandaVision.
The actors don’t care, the digital “artists” don’t care, the editors don’t care, the director clearly doesn’t care, and *spoiler alert* the audience won’t care. The horrible “magicked, self-tying tie” gag at the beginning forewarns of more phoned-in effects that are crudely animated, improperly lit and generally don’t match the actors’ movements and sight lines.
Since the effects too cheesy to be compelling, you’ll find yourself asking how an amalgamation of so many cliche tropes could still make no sense despite having worked in so many storylines before. That, and maybe why a reality would be labeled 838 by beings terrified of multiverse interaction, because, even if you labeled your universe last instead of first, that’s a lot of universes to discover.
At least we have Bruce Campbell slapping himself around.
First – the special effects are great. Second – the story, not so great. As a teenager, I was an avid comic book reader. I prefer the old-fashion simple storyline and not the convoluted multiverse mess that all Marvel movies are gravitating towards.
The Scarlet Witch is all powerful and Dr. Strange is useless. We even have a zombie in this movie – ridiculous. What ever happened to fighting crime and bad guys? “Super” heroes have too much responsibility and it overwhelms their minds! The 4k presentation is excellent.
The Marvel cinematic universe is constantly pushing the envelop. Just when i thought I’m not going to be surprised or on my toes screaming like a fan at a soccer game. Here I go again. Shocked, excited & still confused how they keep it going.
I was really happy to see Dr. Strange as a bad dude. Third eye more magic. More twist and turns. Scarlet witch. How can I get enough. I will watch it over and over again and again.
Tom Cruise, Jon Voight. Secret agent Ethan Hunt is framed for the deaths of his espionage team and must discover the truth. With the CIA and a group of determined assassins hot on his trail, it becomes a high-tech battle for survival.
I’m so happy to FINALLY own this Special Collector’s Edition DVD of Mission Impossible. I first saw this movie at the theater in the summer of ’96 with one of my closest friends, who was always a huge Mission Impossible aficionado (she had watched several episodes of the original TV series as a child).
The storyline/plot of this excellent film is a riveting mystery-Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt will stop at nothing to find out who killed the members of his Impossible Missions team (I don’t want to give away any spoilers, but the climactic scene as to ‘whodunnit?’ is SHOCKING-someone you would NEVER suspect!!).
To this day, when I watch this spy adventure/thriller, I’m ALWAYS on the edge of my seat!! As for the DVD picture quality, it is VERY crisp and clear when played on my excellent LG(Life’s Good)Blu-Ray Disc/DVD combo player.
If you have an excellent set of headphones to use for the DVD audio (such as I do-in fact, I have SEVERAL great budget-priced pairs hehe!!),it’s just as fantastic (perhaps even more so) as watching in a theater with Dolby Surround Sound.
So buy a copy of Mission Impossible Special Collector’s Edition DVD; you won’t be disappointed!!.
Ethan Hunt is a secret agent framed for the deaths of his espionage team. Fleeing from government assassins, breaking into the CIA’s most impenetrable vault, clinging to the roof of a speeding bullet train, Hunt races like a burning fuse to stay one step ahead of his pursuers and draw one step closer to discovering the shocking truth.
“Mission Impossible” is a visual and cerebral treat. Tom Cruise is excellent as Ethan, Vanessa Redgrave makes a superb villian. Sure it’s not the T. V. series, but if you enjoy plots that put your wit to test, then Mission Impossible I is the right movie for you.
The first Mission Impossible is probably the best movie in the series so far. It’s got a bunch of great twists and it’s the only one of the three to keep you guessing until the end. It made you think a lot while watching it while also showing how great an actor Tom Cruise is.
This movie also has one of Jon Voight’s better performances in recent memory. Definitely recommend this one to anyone who wants to see a great action movie that will make you think. TWO THUMBS UP!!!.
Michael Keaton, Academy Award winner Geena Davis, Alex Baldwin and Winona Ryder star in director Tim Burton’s comic twist on supernatural horror tales Beetlejuice. When a couple of nice, young homebody ghosts (Baldwin and Davis) try to haunt the pretentious humans who have moved into their house, they ask for help from a demonic wraith (Keaton) they cannot control in this comic fantasy that mixes the quick and the dead with a laugh and a fright.
Michael Keaton stars on BEETLEJUICE and in UHD 4K! Now, this does look improved over the standard Blu-ray, and sound is good as well. A beautiful, colorful Halloween movie for October! Another October favorite of mine for years and one of the best for 1988! Special features are good as well.
I had to double dip on this one as I had the steelbook for it previously, had to get the 4K version to add to it. Well done Michael Keaton! He would go on to do BATMAN in June 1989!.
Beetlejuice has never looked better. I watched this in 4K and then immediately put in the included Blu Ray disc. I was blown away but the quality difference. The detail and color was definitely improved the 4K.
I love buying older movies in 4K that were shot on film. You really are able to get a true 4K shot vs. digitally shot movies that are downgraded to 2K. The movie overall is fantastic and is highly recommended if you have never seen it.
Beetlejuice stands the test of time and completely holds up still to this day. It’s still funny as ever, a little scary in moments, and brings to life some truly remarkable ideas of the afterlife in a fun way.
The music is excellent and the performances are all award-worthy, specifically with Keaton. The new Dolby Atmos track and 4K image with HDR10 are simply phenomenal. This 4K is a knockout from Warner Bros, despite the lack of bonus features.
Nominated for eight Academy Awards, this classic and compelling Vietnam War epic stars Martin Sheen as Army Captain Willard, a troubled man sent on a dangerous and mesmerizing odyssey into Cambodia to assassinate a renegade American colonel named Kurtz (Marlon Brando), who has succumbed to the horrors of war and barricaded himself in a remote outpost.
This movie is used and opened. Used movies DO NOT include the digital copy. All photos are stock photos and are not the actual picture of the item. All discs are tested.
Apocalypse Now is truly one of the greatest films of all time, now available on 4K Ultra HD! From writer/director Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather Trilogy), this adaptation of Joseph Conrad’s novel Heart of Darkness places the protagonist in the midst of the Viet Nam war on a secret mission across the border in to Cambodia, where a rogue officer (played by the great Marlon Brando) has gone mad and threatens the position of the U.
S. Nearly a decade in the making, the film offers stunning realness layered with thrills and a soundtrack full of the classic rock n’ roll that defined the era. This is a film that everybody MUST SEE at least once!.
As having NEVER seen this film before (was a child when it originally came out), I’m glad watching it in 4k restoration is my 1st experience. My review is for the physical media presentation only. Really, what else can be said that hasn’t been echoed throughout the decades since its release? If your equipment has the capability to display Dolby Vision, then THIS anniversary edition is a must-own!!! From the vibrant greens of the jungle to the reddish-orange hues of the dawn, to the color hues of the indigenous peoples (skin tones & costumes), this is a true visual feast for the eyes (that is not an embellishment).
And for bass-lovers looking for demo-worthy material to show-off their equipment, that’s been covered, too. Plenty of overhead action during the numerous helicopter sequences and more than enough low-end rumble when the weapons of mass destruction starts to engage (actually had to turn it down a few dB a couple of times).
Only watched the new final cut as of yet; still want to check out the redux version and will definitely watch the infamous Heart of Darkness doc eventually. So glad I picked this up (not really a big fan of war films which is why I never made an effort to see this prior).
Meet the Park family, the picture of aspirational wealth. And the Kim family, rich in street smarts but not much else. Be it chance or fate, these two houses are brought together and the Kims sense a golden opportunity.
Masterminded by college-aged Ki-woo, the Kim children expediently install themselves as tutor and art therapist to the Parks. Soon, a symbiotic relationship forms between the two families. The Kims provide “indispensable” luxury services while the Parks obliviously bankroll their entire household.
When a parasitic interloper threatens the Kims’ newfound comfort, a savage, underhanded battle for dominance breaks out, threatening to destroy the fragile ecosystem between the Kims and the Parks. By turns darkly hilarious and heart-wrenching, Parasite showcases a modern master at the top of his game.
This is a fantastic movie. Korean movies have a different style than Western flicks and it’s immediately apparent when watching this one. This has some intense moments with some great Korean humor with some excellent directing.
It deserves all the awards it got (although movie awards are a total waste of time). All of the characters were amazing and the plot was unique and original (at least to me). The family, down on their luck, work together to con their way into a comfortable life, but things get a little bit complicated.
Really well written and directed film. I can see how it won best picture. Interesting to watch the differences between these South Korean social classes, their living conditions, goals and aspirations.
Plot twists with funny surprises really make this film fun to watch. Guaranteed to make you laugh. NOTE: In Korean with English subtitles. Really beautiful in 4K.
It’s no Wonder that this very INNOVATIVE movie WON BEST PICTURE! The acting, filming and situational comedy is top notch. The characters are extremely hilarious and likeable, for all the wrong reasons.
Starts out slow but trust me. pop the corn and enjoy! Quite the ride.
A red-haired mop-top orphan (Aileen Quinn), yearning to break out of her dreary life in an orphanage run by an iron-fisted, boozy matron (Carol Burnett), charms billionaire Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks (Albert Finney) into adopting her–but what she really wants is to find her real parents.
Academy Award Nominations: 2, including Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Original Score.
Annie is the epitome of feel-good cinema. Its entire construction deals with positive thinking, love, family, friendship, and promoting the good in life while working through the bad and refusing to let negative circumstances stand in the way of a healthy outlook on life.
It’s a movie high in spirit and fit for the entire family. It’s catchy and pleasant, filled with quality song and dance numbers. The performances are stellar even if the movie is shaped by rather simple and straightforward ideas.
It’s that adherence to simpleness and goodness that make the movie great and so incredibly sweet, one of the top musicals, and perhaps the finest “rainy day” picture of them all. Sony’s Blu-ray release of Annie is disappointingly short on extras, but it does offer solid video and audio.
Considering the quality of the film and Sony’s low MSRP, this release comes highly recommended.
I ordered because it said it included a digital copy. When I received it – there was no code included. I took it to the store and they could not locate one. It is really disappointing because this is a great movie.
Enjoy The 4 Batman Films From 1989-1997 In 4k Ultra Hd For The First Time Ever! Features Batman, Batman Returns, Batman Forever And Batman & Robin. Includes Hours Of Special Features Across All Films, Must-see Character Profiles, Documentaries, Making Of Featurettes, Director Commentaries By Tim Burton And Joel Schumacher, Theatrical Trailers And Music Videos.
I bought this to wipe the garbage of The Batman from my brain and it was totally worth it. It was weird hearing the new sound mix for the first movie. It’s updated, but still great. I really appreciate the transfer for each film and Atmos adds immersion.
Just cannot beat the quality of this boxset – four terrific movies all in 4K HD. Not only does one receive great films but also the outstanding quality image – I would recommend that any Batman fan get this et!.
A thoroughly cinematic drama, Elvis’s story is seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker. As told by Parker, the film delves into the complex dynamic between the two spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America.
Central to that journey is one of the significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley.
This review is for the 4k version of Elvis. They used Elvis name and it’s about his rise and death, but it really is more about Colonel Parker and what they believe his view of the situation was. They could have called the movie PARKER, but the other name has the draw.
I had known much of the story of Elvis and knew it was sad, but this really made it hit you in the gut with how bamboozeled this young performer was. Still able to make “the king” stutus without a true worldwide presence.
The casting was excellent, except I’m not a Tom Hanks fan, just my own bias, and I will give him credit, he did good, but he brings a lot of baggage to the role. I can’t stop hearing Forrest Gump talk.
In roles this big, it’s good to have a big name, but i felt a lesser known actor could have done well. Still, i will give this a full 5 stars. The music alone keeps it no lower than 4 stars (a good section of it and performances) The format on 4k is excellent.
I cant think of not having this on the best format available. Worth the few dollars more.
Worth spending 159 minutes of your time. Epic drama of a man who never personally realized his greatness and what a profound change to music he created. A man who loved others but was sadly used by those he loved the most.
Great acting by Tom Hanks as Col. Tom Parker who came across as the disgusting Snowman-Mgr who befriended Elvis for his own rewards. The final scene 18 where it appears to be truly ELVIS in Las Vegas singing Unchained Melody, will bring a lump to your throat and tears to your eyes.
I have to admit I was in the minority and thought this looked bad from the trailers but I’m glad to report I was wrong this is a powerful, incredible, and moving depiction of the King done in a fast-paced energetic 2 hours.
WB kills it every 4k release worth picking up. I saw this on HBO max a few weeks ago and it looks so much better on disc.
A serial killer brutally slays and dismembers several gay men in New York’s S/M and leather districts. The young police officer Steve Burns is sent undercover onto the streets as decoy for the murderer.
Working almost completely isolated from his department, he has to learn and practice the complex rules and signals of this little society.
In her feature film debut, director Patricia Riggen weaves their parallel stories into a vividly textured tapestry of yearning and devotion that portrays a child’s courage and tenacity, and a mother’s sacrifice.
Nine-year-old Carlos aka Carlitos (Alonso) is one of the countless children left behind by parents who come to the U. S. seeking a way to provide for their families. His mother, Rosario (del Castillo) has worked illegally as a domestic in Los Angeles for four years, sending money home to her son and mother to give them a chance at a better life.
When the death of his grandmother leaves young Carlitos alone, he takes his fate into his own hands and heads north across the border to find his mother. As he journeys from his rural Mexican village to the L.
A. barrio, Carlitos faces seemingly insurmountable obstacles with a steely determination and unfettered optimism that earn him the grudging respect and affection of a reluctant protector, a middle-aged migrant worker named Enrique (Derbez).
The unlikely pair finds its way from Tucson to East L. A. , but the only clue Carlitos has to his mother’s whereabouts is her description of the street corner from which she has called him each Sunday for the last four years.
Unaware that Rosario is only hours away from returning to Mexico to be with her son, Carlitos and Enrique desperately comb the vast unfamiliar city for a place he has seen only in his imagination.
I love this movie. It’s about a mother where she has to fo to the U. S to gain money for her child. Eventually the grandmother dies and the kid is all alone. So he goes the the U. S to find his mother.
He finds a person that will help him. At the end of the move the person. ( no spoilers).
Excellent acting, superb directing, and a touching story. Adrian Alonso, an amazingly talented young actor, and the also very talented Kate del Castillo lead this cast of mostly little known actors/actresses (except America Ferrera, who only has a small but important role) in a story that will warm your heart.
Although the ending is somewhat predictable, the acting, directing, and plot twists are so well done that the movie will entertain you and keep you wondering how this drama will play out to its conclusion.
Expect to see more fine work in future films from Alonso, del Castillo, and the director Patricia Riggen. Be sure to watch BOTH special features. The “Making of” is nearly 30 minutes long and well worth watching for more depth about the story, characters, director, and cast.
The 10-minute “Mural” feature is also excellent. I particularly recommend viewing it AFTER watching the movie. It provides an interesting behind the scenes look at a mural that was created in East LA about UNDER THE SAME MOON, but, even more intriguing is the glimpse it provides of this little understood art form and its role in the mostly Mexican/Hispano-American community within East LA.
CAUTION: although most strident illegal immigration opponents would not be attracted to a movie of this nature, the film does subtly portray(through lyrics of the various songs on the music track of the film and through the heartbreaking portrayal of the separated mother and son) illicit cross-border forays sentimentally and somewhat justifiably.
It’s clear to this viewer, especially after watching the “Making of” feature, that the director’s intent was to highlight the HUMAN DRAMA that is part of the universal reality SHARED BY MANY people who leave behind their family and enter another country, legally or illegally.
I mention this because I did NOT find the film to be a “pro” illegal immigration treatment, but rather a heartfelt look into the real-life saga of separated loved ones, especially parents and their children.
Overall, a strong 4. 5 stars for this charming treat from our closest neighbor to the South (Mexico). Excelente! Muy bien hecha!.
