Got this a couple days ago at a local B&M. It was laying by it’s lonesome on the shelf. Was a part of a kit and was the one I was looking for to complete my kit. The manager couldn’t find the kit it belonged to and was gracious enough to sell the imapact by itself! Which was perfect because I was looking for the tool itself not a kit.
But they’re great little imapacts. Ive used the same model of my father’s and it performs flawlessly. Just the right amount of power and trigger response! And being such a compact and lightweight tool, it’s perfect! Battery life is exceptional as well! Charges fast and last miles longer than the old 18v ni-cd systems!.

I decided to finally take the plunge and switch from Dewalt to Milwaukee. I bought this driver as part of kit #2997-22 along with a Hackzall. Right out of the box, I noticed the batteries rattled just moving the tool around.
Otherwise, the drill and driver did feel good in the hand. Next, I inserted a new Milwaukee torx bit into the chick, but I didn’t hear of feel the typical “click” that I’m used to. It was soft and didn’t inspire confidence, but ok, maybe that was because it was new and packed with fresh grease.
I pulled lightly on the bit just to make sure it was secured. Then when I went to release the bit, it didn’t move. I had to use two hands to remove the bit. Curious, I inspected the tool more closely and discovered there was no quick-release mechanism in the anvil.
I thought perhaps I had a defective impact driver, so I checked the specs on the box and Milwaukee’s site and there was no mention of a quick-release chuck – a seemingly basic feature that is found on every other impact driver I’ve used (Dewalt, Ryobi, Porter Cable, and even Craftsman).
I don’t understand why such a simple, useful feature was omitted from Milwaukee’s top of the line impact driver, or any impact driver from Milwaukee. Because of that design decision, I didn’t bother even using the tool.
If such a simple feature was omitted from a high-end tool, I can’t help but wonder what other questionable decisions were made when designing Milwaukee tools. I’m truly disappointed. I boxed it up and returned the drill/driver kit and the Hackzall that I bought at the same time.
That single experience has now turned me away from Milwaukee tools.
I use this impact (2758) almost every day it breaks almost anything loose under 150ftlbs and can consistently torque above 155ftlbs. Yet you can still use it on smaller delicate interior items on the highest speed, (with a good trigger finger).
I can also trust it to tighten wiring harnesses to $1000+ dollar injectors on the lowest setting feathering the trigger. ***My issues with it are. Since it has the one key system i have had the controll board go out on it.
When i sent it in for maintenance it took them 6 weeks for them to decide that they couldn’t repair it and then finally send me a new tool. Apparently not every repair facility can work on one key products so it takes much longer to have them repaired since they have to ship it to a more equipped repair shop.
The friction ring on it should be made of thicker harder metal to keep it from wearing out as quickly and so it can be used with sockets that have wear. Also the anvil itself has worn out after 2 years and even after replacing the friction ring it no longer keeps newer sockets on tight.
Another issue is it needs a seal or something for the anvil. It gets metal/rust/clutch/brake dust in between the anvil and the bushing and starts to squeel really early on. I would like to see some type of grease point to be able to push the grit out of the bushing or a seal to keep the grit out.

Pros: plenty of power and I like the three speed/torque ranges. It’s Dewalt through-and-through. The tool is well balanced and easy to handle. It feels very comfortable in use. Performance-wise, I’ve had no problems driving hundreds of 2-1/2″ and 3″ screws into and through whitewood 2x4s.
That’s my main use. Cons: nothing worth mentioning. If I lost this driver tomorrow I’d probably replace it with the same model. When I got it I expected to only use it for heavier jobs, and stick with my drill/driver for routine work.
Turns out, I use it for almost every screw-driving application.
I purchased this compact impact driver after reading reviews of this driver, Makita, Bosch. etc. , Milwaukee, Rigid, I also watched a number of rating videos against other compact drivers, and assessing/handling them in person.
My decision boiled-down to either the equivalent Makita, or this Dewalt Impact driver. I chose the Dewalt because it had more impact per minutes, and more torque. It was a great choice. I used it while constructing a large jointers workbench.
I drove lag screws through (vertical) 2×6’s and then into 4×4’s – a total of 8 screws. Worked like a champ. I then used it to drive 20 Simpson 5 1/2” structural screws though 2×8’s into 4×4 cross-members that supported the top of the workbench, and were also used to tie the 2×10’s on the sides of bench together.
This driver drove all of the big screws, and many smaller screws, effortlessly. I changed to my second large battery to maintain the torque, and at the end of it, the driver was warm, but not hot. A pretty extreme test.
I continue to use the driver daily, and it continues to work flawlessly. Would I buy it again? Did I make the right the right choice? Absolutely.

Features: Quick release 1/4 in. hex chuck screw driving bit included 0-3000 RPM, 0-3900 IPM.
I bought this drill after my old one broke. It is a temporary tool until I can afford a higher end unit (I’m an apprentice, so I’m having to purchase many other tools as well). I do HVAC, and an impact driver is necessary for a lot of the work I do.
The good: this drill has lasted nearly a year and still works the same as the day I bought it. The bad: this drill feels very underpowered at times. It typically does fine, but has left me wanting more power on multiple occasions.
Second, and big one for me, is IT IS NOT VARIABLE SPEED. Hit the trigger and it’s all or nothing. This is a big downside when finesse is needed (such as putting the doors back onto a furnace or trying to mount a grill/register).
If you want a budget friendly drill that will last and will get the basics done, go for it. If you want power, finesse, and/or compact size, save up and get a quality drill.
I work as a product assembler and mostly build bikes for the big box stores. I purchased my first impact driver at Walmart and was able to build around 22 bikes on a single charge. This was in rotation with 2 drill drivers.
After a couple of months I found the B&D impact driver as a bare tool online, purchased 2 more, then purchased a pair of the lithium batteries separately as well. The biggest advantage for me using the impact drivers is that there is reduced stress and twisting of the wrist, forearm.
After building over a thousand bikes I developed symptoms similar to tennis elbow because of the twisty torque drill drivers. That is virtually eliminated with the impact driver. Also, it’s nice that other other B&D tools use the same battery, but there may be some common ground using the 20V pack with Porter Cable and DeWalt tools as well.
I’ll give this great product 4. 8 I would recommend to anyone I know and I know a lot of people I’m in the construction field mainly heavy duty metal exterior framing. I have the 20 volt impact driver my impact holds a good charge for two days before I have to charge it to full.
This impact driver is as good as DeWalt / roybie/ Milwaukee/ and others out there so u ask ur self y 4. 8 well my impact doesn’t come with one important feature that outhers come with. And it’s a simple fix probably a oversight on the think tank room so can’t blame it on B&D ! Soon what is is ? Well the Sweet and simple fix for my favorite driver and yours would be a simple little clip on the side of it so I can hang it on my tool belt even my tape measure has a clip ! So please take this into consideration ! When or if YOU B &D deside to upgrade my favorite product thank you.

Work ok for a while. You must keep a check on your battery. A few weeks ago I noticed a slight slow cranking of my engine in the morning. This device does not shut off at 11. 8 volts but instead at about 10.
2, this is too low a voltage. The other morning by battery would not crank my engine which Resulted in me not being able to use my car, I had to put the battery on charge overnight. I disconnected the camera and the next day I was able to start the engine without any problem.
I had the battery tested and proved to be no problem with the battery. With the colder weather 10 V is too low start a car engine. This device is not reliable it does not disconnect at 11. 8 V but sucks the battery down too low.
So now I cant use it and have to disconnect my camera and not use the feature that will turn it on with motion.
I’m using it right now. I have been wanting to take my window unit’s apart and clean them good on the inside. So we are having a little cool front here in Houston today so I’m putting the drill to good use.

I was already sold on the previous generation merits. Compact, lightweight, fits perfect in my suspension rig. With the new model I have been impressed with the increase in power delivery and the 3 lights surrounding the tip.
The light is a game changer working outside as the sun sets fastening sheet metal.
This 1/4 inch hex driver is well balanced, has very good torque and feels solid and well built. The 3 LEDs are a nice touch. Loading a bit can be done with one hand. I know it will be great tool in my tool collection.
Optimized for high speed fastening, the Milwaukee impact mechanism delivers unmatched fastening performance in a lightweight, tool belt portable design A high performance motor delivers 0-2, 500 RPM for increased fastening speed.

After happily owning/using the 2401-xx 1/4″ hex screwdriver, I jumped at the chance to buy this almost new impact driver from a nephew who was upgrading to the “Fuel” products. The grip, balance, weight, trigger and forward/reverse button are virtually perfect for my hand size (xl).
BUT some bright soul decided to change the design of the 1/4″ chuck from the one on the 2401 series to one requiring you to use TWO hands to change to a different bit. You wouldn’t believe how irritating that is when you are using both the screw driver with the old single handed design and my impact driver with the new two handed design, and your hands are oily or sweaty.
The old design, “click”, and I’m working again. The new design, push the bit in, pull the release collar back, push the bit in past the detent. To remove the bit, hold the driver in the right hand, while pushing the release collar out from the driver, and then pull the bit out of the chuck with the left hand.
If I could convert the chuck to the old design, I’d do it in a heart beat and rate the combo at 5. 0+.
Has enough torque for most superficial motor work. Obviously larger nuts and bolts you’re going to want to break loose first. Definitely saves my wrist from thousands of ratchet turns everyday at work.
Nice and slimline compared to other brands of similar power. I prefer this over mac’s and snap on’s equivalent. With mac and snap on you’re just paying more for the name printed on the tool. Milwaukee power tools and craftsman hand tools goodnuff 4 me.
I bought this nifty little driver to speed up auto repairs. I’ve watched other guys for decades use lightweight pneumatic and electric impact drivers to zip fasteners in and out in a flash, cutting the disassembly/assembly time for auto repairs to minutes instead of hours.
This little driver is perfect — it’s light, small to fit underhood and other tight spaces, plenty of power, and a long battery life. I’m very please to own it.
I build Trailers and use this constantly. Charging at every break usually with half a charge left (on 3Ah battery). Nothing competes to this drill when it comes to the cost of it’s durability, battery life, lightweight and rpm/torque of a cordless drill.
It gave me the practicality I was looking for. Great in tight spaces also. The only con is the reverse switch hits my thumb sometimes, but it’s hardly an issue.
I have always owned that other RED brand but thought I would try this. I was totally amazed how much better it drove screws. FAST!!! Not sure why but beats the RED impact driver I have easily. Charged in about 10 minutes.
I drove a bunch of 4″ wood screws with no problems. Just a few quick squeezes on the trigger and the screws were in. I am hooked on this driver. Time to switch when my others wear out.

The Bauer Hypermax Lithium 1/4 inch Hex Compact Impact Driver Kit features a textured overmold for a secure grip and comfort.
I had intended to buy the 1/2″ drill but grabbed the impact driver by accident. Out of curiosity I decided to try it alongside my Milwaukee 12v Fuel driver. I know it’s apples and smaller apples but I was curious.
I love my 12v M12 tools so I took 4 1/2″ timber screws and tried to drive one into and elm log and with 3 tries the M12 only got it half way but the 20V Bauer buried one then finished the one the M12 quit on.
I am impressed. Anyhow I did go back and bought the 20v 1/2″ chuck drill so now I have a set. The drill has been great but the 1. 5 ah batteries are a joke. Get the 5ah battery to make it worth using.
Bigger batter makes it better. Small batteries slump and the recover. The big batteries don’t suffer this. I was countersinking 3/8″ screws in 3/8″ mild steel. That’s a 3/4″ countersink. It did the job with the 5ah battery 16 holes.
This Bauer product was a great buy and has helped me both at work & working on my car. The grip is ergonomic and has good stick to it. The trigger allows you to feather the power and the reversing switch has both and audible and tactile positive engagement.
The light is bright and really helps illuminate your work. I got the bigger battery for this tool and it’s saved me a ton of time. I highly recommend getting the impact adapter set and running the 1/2″ impact sockets with this as well.
Sometimes the 1/2″ impact driver I purchased (also a Bauer that I’m very happy with) is too big to fit in wheel wells and other places under the hood of my car.
An impact driver is a powerful tool that can make driving screws and other fasteners into tougher materials much easier than using a regular drill. While an impact driver looks similar to a drill, it actually works differently.
An impact driver has a hammering action that helps to drive the screw or fastener into the material, making it ideal for use with tougher materials.
If you are working on a car, truck, or other vehicle, an impact driver can be a great tool to have. It can make it much easier to drive screws and other fasteners into tougher materials, like metal. If you are doing a lot of work on a vehicle, an impact driver can save you a lot of time and effort.
