Hydrating primers can be used under makeup or on their own as a way to prep the skin for the rest of your skincare routine.

Good Hydrations is an answer to my prayers! After running out of the Prime Time primer, I went to the BE store and asked about a primer for dry skin. The rep gave me a sample of Good Hydrations and my life changed forever! I’ve suffered from acne and dry skin for (too many) years.
Dermatologists would give me acne medicines that would dry out my skin and make my acne worse. It was so bad that when I DIDN’T wash my face, I had less acne! Finally, I’ve found what my skin has longed for.
With GH, my acne stopped. Even on days I don’t wear makeup, I use GH (after my moisturizer) to keep my face moisturized and clear. Thank you BE for saving my skin!.

I liked this primer, though I only wear them for times when I will be out all day. I don’t like to cake heave stuff all over my face usually. This was different though. It was definitely light like a moisturizer and my skin didn’t feel bogged down even though the weather really was humid.
I do think I might buy it again actually because it did a good job not just moisturizing my face, but helping to even out the skin tone also.
Moisture-rich primer nourishes, soothes, and conditions skin as it creates a smooth surface for flawless makeup application. The formula provides a soft-focus effect to help minimize the look of pores, fine lines, and imperfections.

Excellent product! I have tried many primers as they often arrive in my ipsy bag each month or I get samples at beauty stores. Laura Mercier products have a stellar reputation and when I saw this primer on sale I grabbed it.
I have extremely dry skin that is prone to cystic breakouts so having a primer that not only enhances the appearance of my skin but cares for it is very important to me. The consistency is light and weightless, my skin quickly absorbed it.
I’m currently switching back and forth between too faced born this way foundation and it cosmetics CC cream. Both of these foundations applied beautifully smooth and lasted all day well into the night.
This primer felt very natural and there was no heaviness or tackiness at all like most of the primers that I have tried some even felt like spackle on my face! I do not like heavy products on my face especially in the warmer weather.
My skin’s overall complexion was smooth and natural looking without any cakeiness whatsoever. There was no gathering a foundation in my fine lines. While the primer did not eliminate all of my pores it definitely softened them.
While I do not have a pore issue per se, If you look hard enough they are present but as I mentioned, the primer softened their appearance. I consider this a quality product that I will definitely repurchase again.
As with any primer it should be compatible with your foundation and skin type. If you can try to get a sample to try, it may not work as effectively on oily skin that is for you to decide. My favorite primer so far! #primer #foundationprimer #lauramercier.
I was very nervous about using this primer because I have very oily skin. The last thing I need is a product giving me shine before natural oils start to break through and take over. This primer did not do that.
On my very oily skin, it gave me a natural finish. It provides a good surface for any liquid or powder foundation to apply on. Somehow, it manages to hold my oils abay for a tad longer than some supposed oil controlling primers.
I was very surprised. It also adds to the final finish, where for a couple if hours I look radiant. Then my oils come through and mess everything up. But for a radiant primer, I was very impressed. I still use it now, if I know I’m not going to be exerting myself or the weather is cooler.
Definitely not a summer primer for those of us with oily skin.
It’s just okay, in my opinion. There’s so many on the market to choose from now and I didn’t find anything about this that I didn’t like per Se but, it just didn’t wow me. MAC has a great strobe priner for radiance, and there’s that ciate london watermelon burst if you’re going for that dewy look.
Hourglass mineral veil or for a hydrated look the no. 28 primer serum are some of my favorite go to primers. It’s been a while ago since I got a deluxe sample of this and used it, I’ll admit, but with bb creams and cc creams and blurring primers and, well you get the point, there just wasn’t anything all that memorable for me with this primer.
I love this line, but imo, this product just sorta blended in.
Featherweight hydration. Like a tall drink of water for your skin, Mineral Fusions Hydrating Primer replenishes lost nutrients and moisture, quenching your skins thirst for cushiony bounce and glow. An ultra-calming blend of Aloe, Lavender, and Cucumber soothes dehydrated skin and fills in lines for a flawless foundation setup.
Helps encourage firmer, more youthful skin with a blend of wrinkle-fighting, collagen-boosting peptides and natural antioxidants.
I would give higher rating, but I don’t love the smell. Also, I don’t know that I love the bottle design. I DO LIKE, how smooth this applies, and how it keeps my dry skin hydrated all day. This also makes for much easier application of the BB cream I use.
I will try the other styles of primer before I purchase this one again, I may find one I like better.
This stuff is truly amazing! I just got it at Whole Foods recently, on sale, and now I want to explore many more Mineral Fusion products. It feels absolutely silky going onto the skin, and creates a beautiful finish on my 43-year-old face.
I have some issues w/ inflammation and redness, but I don’t like to wear ‘make up’, so this is perfect. It glides on, makes my skin feel totally hydrated, neutralizes the redness, and lessens the look of circles under my eyes.
Also: the one place I do sometimes wear makeup is concealer under my eyes, but as I’m getting lines there, cover-up tends to exaggerate the lines. This helps smooth everything out, so just a dot of concealer towards the inner corners blends much more smoothly and covers up the circles.
Marvelous!!! My only complaint is that the dispenser is all wrong. If I’m SUPER careful, I can get almost the amount I need out onto my fingers, but generally, I get twice as much splurted onto my hand as I want – AND twice as much on the wall, AND twice as much on my shirt! So I’m wasting about three times as much as I need to use, every time I use it.
And it can stain fabric if you get it on your shirt. These kinds of bottles are also terrible if you want to take them with you anywhere. The caps will break, no matter what kind of makeup bag you put them in, and they’re big and bulky.
A tube half the size would last twice as long, considering the waste, and you could throw it in a small purse.
Ok, this is the MOST EFFICIENT way of “getting” the primer (any of there printers) out. TILL THE LAST DROP:)! 1; NEVER USE THE PUMP! out of the box, don’t even try. Shake well (best you can), unscrew top and carefully lift.
Dab your finger or whatever you apply with on the pump “hose” and use that. 2; When your running low, and the stiff hose can no longer collect the primer. Grab a q-tip pull all the “cotton” off one end and bend to reach all the places its stuck! 🙂 especially the top of the bottle!!! I’ve been using mineral fusion primer for about 4 years.
and with just a q-tip you can get another MONTH+ worth of the product out:).
The POREfessional Hydrate Primer hydrating face primer to minimise the look of pores Defeat pores AND dryness! This silky-smooth, hydrating face primer instantly moisturises & refreshes skin, helps makeup stay put and minimises the look of pores and fine lines.
It has the same oil-free, lightweight feel & pore-minimising power as the original The POREfessional PLUS 12-hour* hydration. Pores and dryness don’t stand a chance!.
I don’t know what this is meant to be, but its one of those products that seem to have no real ‘Benefit’. I’ve used the original Porefessional for years and its the holy grail of my makeup drawer, next to my YSL eye concealer.
The original Porefessionsl is one of those products that you cannot live without, its honestly amazing and does what it says. I had a travel size tube of the hydrating Porefessional, included in a limited edition tin of products.
I tried it and instantly didn’t like it. Yes its smooth and hydrating feeling but it has absolutely zero coverage. I’ll just be using this as a primer underneath the original- as an extra hydrating measure.
I can’t see why anyone would pay the same price as the original, for this lesser than good product. Also, Benefit always discontinue the best products and introduce a lot of useless ones. They should listen to their customers.
So I’ve used the original Porefessional primer for years. I would try others every so often, but Benefit makes them the best. Because I’m getting older and I now live in a city where winters are much harsher, I’ve needed to change my makeup regimen to something with more hydration.
And OH MY GOODNESS this primer delivers!! It’s so much better than I thought it would be! It does everything the original Porefessional primer does, but it also makes my skin feel like skin. Not tight, not dry.
It also helps my make up go on better; I don’t need to apply as much. I work 12-13 hour night shifts in a cold, dry hospital and my make up looks great. The only con I can think of is that applying it is a little sticky and heavy.
I was expecting it to apply like the original Porefessional primer, but it really isn’t a drawback. I hope Benefit comes out with the larger size for this hydrating formula!.
I don’t know what this is meant to be, but its one of those products that seem to have no real ‘Benifet’. I’ve used the original Porefessional for years and its the holy grail of my makeup drawer, next to my YSL eye concealer.

Dermablend Professional’s 3-in-1 Multitasking Primer is the BOMB! This jelly primer is made with aloe, is fast absorbing and provides 24 hours of slip free make up. The three functions of this jelly is to act as a make up gripping primer, instant moisturizer and as a skin tightening mask.
Using this primer also increases the chance of less transfer of your make up onto your face mask or clothing. It meets dermatological standards, is allergy tested, fragrance free, tested for sensitive skin and is non-comedogenic.
The primer is to be smoothed onto your entire face and left to dry before applying make up products. It comes in a pump action container. I absolutely love love love this primer! This primer is VERY sticky at first but that feeling does lessen as it dries.
It does take a little while to get used to the extra strong gripping power. It definitely grips my make up no matter how hot or sweaty I get from a warm environment or exercise. My make up does not rub off on my clothing but at times will rub off on my mask due to excessive sweating.
I do feel that this may be unique to myself because I do use a lot of buildable foundation and powder. When I use this primer, I notice a slight difference in the depth of crows feet around my eyes and my face does appear to have less fine lines.
The jelly doesn’t take 10 years off of my face but every little bit helps my confidence! I definitely will continue to purchase this product and would recommend it to any of my friends and family. I think everyone should give it a try!.
Applying the product is a unique experience – it almost feels like putting hair gel or glue on but it feels good? Not sure how best to describe it. I do know that it is a fantastically sticky primer.
You don’t have to use a lot. It doesn’t make you look ashy. I didn’t have any issues with using my foundation or other products on top of it. It is a light layer and my skin has been better for it. I feel like it creates a better barrier than creamier products I’ve used so I don’t notice as many new blemishes popping up after a long-wear day (like 12 hours+).
It also doesn’t seem to add to or take away from my moisturizing routine. It has also helped me use less foundation – so maybe that’s where the skincare benefits are really coming in. I also love that it locks closed.
I only wish I could see in the packaging so I can tell how low it is.
I saw this was “all the rage” and as a professional makeup artist I had to try it. The texture is unlike any primer or really any product I’ve used before. It almost evaporates as you spread it, it’s tacky and jelly in texture and I felt like I needed more to spread it and cover my whole face.
Did it out perform other products I’ve used? No. Was I more hydrated and glowy than the other products I used? No. Did it make my foundation last longer? No. Was my skin smoother and poreless? No. And truth be told, my skin didn’t look as smooth and poreless as it normally does!! So I will keep trying this to see if I haven’t gotten the knack of it yet.
Maybe I’ll end up loving it. Now, for me, it’s just ok.
The Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer is a moisturiser and makeup primer all-in-one. Created in the Smashbox L. A. photo studio, the 2-in-1 formula provides deep hydration while locking in makeup for prolonged wear.
Fortified with Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid, it plumps skin with moisture and delivers 24-hour hydration, creating the perfect canvas for flawless makeup. Silky and weightless, the non-greasy, quick-drying primer melts comfortably into skin and acts as a makeup magnet, locking in foundation for long-wearing results.
Increasing skin’s moisture by 127%, it preps skin for airbrushed makeup: smoothens the look of the complexion, softens the appearance of dry fine lines, and prevents makeup settling into pores. Suitable for all skin types.
Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer does indeed leave your face soft and moisturized, which is great for people with dry skin (like me). However, I wouldn’t call this product a primer necessarily. It is more of a spray moisturizer.
I tend to use this product for an extra boost of moisture on top of other primers that act as primers. This is especially beneficial for extra dry skin areas like between the eyebrows, around the nose, etc.
I find that it does smooth those areas to help makeup apply more smoothly and so foundation doesn’t cling to dry patches. I like the extra boost of moisture on top of other primers when my face is drier, like in the winter months.
This product does not disturb other products on your face or mess up the primers I’ve already used. If you are looking for something like this, a light boost of moisture to help smooth stubborn dry patches where your makeup clings, then this is a great product for you.
You can even just use it in spots if you do not need it all over your face. However, if you are looking for a primer, I would use other primers in addition to this. I cannot justify the $42 cost of the full-size bottle, but I just keep the travel-size bottle in my makeup case just for when I happen to need it.
Because of the wintry weather and a shift to dry/dehydrated skin, I recently noticed my HG foundation was not performing well, especially while building it up to full coverage; I was seeing the cakey, aged, tired, look.
I thought needed a winter foundation with more hydration. I did not consider switching primers at first since mine had plenty of slip and I thought enough moisture. Looking though reviews and talking to others in my online makeup groups, a few options came up, this was one of them.
I had a sample at home and tried it on a work morning. I put the primer on directly following my skincare, it applied beautifully and absorbed well. I applied a small amount of foundation to see how it would perform, and then I mixed a little of both on the back of my hand and started to build it up.
My face looked flawless! This stuff went on so well, smoothed fine lines under my eyes and on other areas of my face, helped me build my foundation with less product and blended out perfectly. The Primerizer gave me the extra bump in moisture I needed without breaking me out or causing me to look greasy.
My skin had a nice natural glow. I added a little loose setting powder after it I let the foundation set and followed with the rest of my powder products. My foundation lasted and did not move around on me all day, I did not have any makeup transfer to coat collar, and overall, I am putting this at HG status.
It is expensive considering my lux primer is $52 or $58, but if I am using less foundation, and a little primer goes a long way, it is still saving me money in the end. My only concern would be if I got Melia in the eye area, but time will tell.
What is it: This Face Primer is a real-life selfie filter. It’s a smooth and lightweight cruelty-free makeup primer that goes on before your foundation to minimize the appearance of pores and fine lines.
At the same time, it’s working overtime to make sure your makeup doesn’t move an inch all day long. This primer has a formula that’s silky and instantly prevents shine, giving your face a matte finish.
It boosts your complexion with a drench of hydration, creating a perfect canvas for radiant, younger looking skin. Infused with grape and Vitamins A, C, & E for nourishing and anti-aging benefits. This multipurpose clear skin primer reduces the appearance of fine lines and transforms your face into a flawless and smooth canvas so makeup goes on evenly for a long-lasting finish.
🖤 This primer has been a must have for all makeup lovers for a couple of years now. With ingredients such as Koolin Clay and White Charcoal, it is known to help absorb oil and leave a blurred out finish.
🖤 This primer is reasonably priced (£9) and personally I only use the smallest amount through my t-zone, as this is where i can get a little shinier. 🖤 Although this looks bright white, it works on all skin tones as it goes on colourless.
I wouldn’t recommend to use this all over the face if you don’t have oily skin. Focus on the areas that need blurring out. 🖤 When I applied it to the cheek area on the side of my nose I did find that there was some texture after I applied my foundation.
This is probably because my skin is a little drier there. 🖤When applied down the centre of my nose and a little on the chin, it really does prevent shine, and especially when the weather is hot and humid as it keeps the makeup from melting or looking shiny.
🖤 I will say I love the texture, it’s velvety and applies smoothly and it really does help makeup grip nicely to it. Definitely recommend if you are looking for something to control shiny areas, but avoid applying to dry / balanced areas as it will cause some texture.
I wanted to try a new primer, and I specifically wanted to look at what e. l. f. had to offer. What drew me initially was the appearance of the product; I really liked it. I also was glad there were a variety of e.
l. f. primers to choose from. However, the feel of the product was thicker than I had expected / than I had used before, and it felt oily when I applied it. The next thing I did was to smell the product, and I was shocked by the scent.
It resembled the smell of chemicals. The scent is so harsh that it made me instantly worry that the product may be harmful, even though I was pretty confident it would not, based on e. l. f. ‘s solid reputation.
The primer definitely grabs onto concealer and foundation and holds them securely – but a little too well because it makes it difficult to blend the makeup I applied. I plan to use the rest of the primer since I can’t afford to be wasteful, but I definitely will not purchase it again.
Even though my experience with this specific product has been negative, I will continue to use and try other e. l. f. products. I rarely ever leave negative reviews, but the smell of this product is so bad that I want other people to know about it before they decide to make the same purchase.
I’ve been using the matte putty primer on days where the humidity in Dallas is very high & it will definitely be my holy grail primer during the hot & humid summer. (I use the poreless putty primer during colder, dryer, weather).
I love how this primer prevents my skin from looking greasy & gives it a beautiful polished matte finish, even w/o foundation. I use the primer brush w/applicator for a very even finish. This is the perfect primer for the humid climates in the south.
I’ve used many primers & products prevent oily breakthroughs & believe me, this one beats them all! This product feels yummy on my skin. You won’t regret purchasing this product. The quality & price of the product are stunning.

During the winter months i always feel that no matter how much i moisturize or what products i use my foundations will settle into dry skin patches on my face. This product has significantly helped with that issue.
The scent is like cucumbers so it’s nothing too offensive. I use just a pea sized amount and it spreads nicely over the skin it has a silky feeling and it leaves a nice smoothed canvas. The bottle is a great size for primer and I’m hoping that as i use it my skin will continue to improve.
I received this in a ULTA mystery sampler. Its a great primer. Bonus it has hyloronic acid and moisturizer in it also, which is probably my favorite thing about it. Its almost like putting a healing protective layer on before you apply your make up.
This has a nice light scent, almost like fresh floral. I feel my skin being hydrated after applying. My make up grips right to it and stays in place while I’m at work, I work in a kitchen. I would buy the full size version after using this sample.
I have tried a lot of different primers (about 10?), and there are only two that I like. Most will either cause irritation or do little to keep my makeup in place. One actually made my foundation pool in my fine lines and eyelid creases! This is one of two primers that actually work without irritating my skin.
Since it’s less expensive, it’s my new favorite! It does have some luminous shimmer (which I usually don’t like), but it’s very subtle and natural. I have dry skin, so I would not use this without another moisturizer, but it might work if you have normal to oily skin.
That said, it layers well with my other FAB hydrating products. Overall, great primer!.

Can also be added to your foundation or layered under powder highlighters for an instant boost of radiance. Shake well before use.
To start off this primer makes your face glow it’s a bit shimmery. It’s super runny you do have to shake it before using it, but just little dabs on the face with this goes such a long ways and makes your foundation blend beautifully! I got this in my boxcharm box and let’s just say I’m liking it, also I noticed my pores are not as visible.
At the end of the first day of using it before washing off I did notice a little cakeyness but i gave it another chance with a different foundation the next day and never was cakey at end of the day.
So i think just didn’t mix well with just one of my foundations.
I only recently started using PUR makeup after a decade of using only Clinique makeup. I cannot believe I’m saying this, but this primer and their mineral powder foundation have me HOOKED. Especially together, the two products are phenomenal! This primer smooths out fine lines beautifully when covered with foundation.
I wear makeup for 15 hours of hard, fast paced work wearing an N-95 most of it. This passes the test! I’ll never look back!.
I’m reviewing the PUR rose gold blurring Photography primer. I tried using it by itself before my foundation and didn’t love it. I couldn’t see the glow under my foundation like I wanted so I began mixing it with my foundation and then I loved it.
Creates a nice smooth canvas. Honestly, I like the color better than the actual primer in functionality but, still a like for me. It mixes well.
Instantly smooths and blurs away imperfections, setting the stage for a perfect foundation application and lasting makeup look Contains coconut water for instant hydration Lightweight formula Glides on smooth Proud to not test on animals and now Leaping Bunny Certified by Cruelty Free International.
I’m looking for a primer that helps smooth uneven skin texture/old acne scars, fill pores, and even skin tone. This is a nice primer but I can’t tell it does more than my Maybelline primer. I think this one must be water based, it doesn’t have that slick silicony feel.
My skin does feel hydrated and smooth after using it. It also slightly tones down redness, not sure it’s supposed to but I noticed it did with an old acne spot that was almost healed. Didn’t make it disappear but toned it down.
As far as my pores go I have huge ones and it may have helped a little with that but not as much as I’d hoped. But I’m giving it a 4 bc it is a nice primer. My makeup stayed put all day and looked good.
This primer is water based. I paid $12 for 1. 0 fl oz. but you can find this at target or rite aid for around $9!! The formula is supple and melts on the skin. I sometimes only will wear this as makeup overtop my moisturizer because it does neutralize any redness on my skin and It gives me a pretty flawless complexion.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it has a very strong chemically floral scent. It doesn’t bother my skin, but the scent can be strong. Overall, a great product!.
I bought the pore-reducing primer after seeing a positive review on YouTube and it definitely lives up to the claims. It’s affordable, the texture is light, and it does what it says it will do. I particularly like using it to mattify oily areas and blur pores on days where I opt for little to no makeup.
I have extremely sensitive (including eczema flares around my eyes and mouth) and oily t-zone skin and this product doesn’t seem to irritate it. I will definitely by purchasing again.
A creamy, nutrient-packed primer that preps the skin for seamless foundation application Worn under foundation, This lightweight primer creates a smooth canvas for flawless application and kisses the skin with a healthy-looking, luminous glow Take a small amount onto Palm of hands and massage onto skin Cruelty free Please check PAO (Period After Opening) symbol which denotes the product expiry time, post opening the pack.
I was on the hunt for a water based primer to match with my foundation. I suffer from crazy dry skin in the winter. Flaking was really bad and needed all the moisture that I could get. One of the ladies at Ulta helped me find this and it was soooooo affordable!!! I was really happy how good it felt on my skin.
I was worried because it was so watery but a little went a long way. My makeup looked great with this on!! Will be buying more and exploring more NYX products!!!.
I don’t normally leave reviews on primers as I don’t really notice much change when applying foundation but I instantly feel a difference with this one. When applying it easily glides across the face and feels silky.
I wait 2 minutes before applying foundation and feel my foundation sits nicely on top and makes it last throughout an 8 hour day at work which it normally doesn’t. Provides a nice glow to skin. Only 4 stars as feel it doesn’t minimise the appearance of pores however I know it is more of a hydrating primer.
Arguably one of the best hydrating primers on the market. Started wearing it in 2015 after a MUA at the Mac counter suggested it (he said it was a dupe for their moisturizing primer – and he was right!) and the $8 price point was unbeatable! It’s a bit pricier now, but worth every penny.
Grips makeup and leaves your skin soft to the touch. Perfect for dry skin but works well with combination skin types as well! I’ve tried other moisturizing primers over the years, but I always return to Hydra Touch.
Hydrates the skin and preps it for makeup, giving skin a luminous glow. Lightweight formula feels weightless on the skin and keeps skin nourished and moisturized with Hyaluronic Acid. Drop 3-5 drops onto the face, and massage all over clean skin.
This is the second bottle I’ve used. It comes in a great glass bottle with a dropper making it feel pricier than it really is. As a serum it is fabulous. Leaves my skin looking plump and fresh, it doesn’t make me extra oily on my t-zone, I can even use it on its own.
As a makeup primer I found it to work really well. As of late I’ve been putting on my sunscreen (supergoop) and when it’s set I put on the primer serum on top and it causes no problems. After that I put on the elf satin finish foundation and my skin look and feels great.
I hate the feeling of spf, primer, foundation and all of those steps on my skin, it can feel heavy but with this combination I’ve been doing my skin feels great and light. Oh the key to the primer working on top of the spf is to pat it on, do not rub it in because you want to avoid disturbing the spf underneath.
This is by far, the best hydrating primer I’ve tried. Feels so good and refreshing on the skin, even without using a lot of it. Only 1-2 drops is enough for my skin. My face feels hydrated and good all day.
It’s like my skin took a big drink of water with how hydrating it is. It won’t blur pores, but it smooths out my skin and adds tons of hydration. Helps my makeup look and sit better on my naturally dry skin.
Definitely recommend this if you want a primer that will make your skin feel quenched.
Light feel upon application, moderately tacky after dry down, and slightly illuminating. Gave me lots of teeny red bumps on my chin, nose, and forehead within 24 hours, and I’m 43 and very rarely get blemishes anymore; I’m thinking this was a mild reaction and not actual pimples.
Has fragrance. I prefer the pink serum primer from Wet n Wild much more, which costs less, is fine for sensitive skin, and isn’t tacky at all. If I want tacky, I’ll use elf’s Power Grip.
A lightweight, hydrating makeup primer for normal to dry skin that nurtures, keeps skin comfortable all day, and extends foundation wear. This lightweight yet moisture rich face primer instantly hydrates skin, and keeps it hydrated all day and extends makeup wear.
Formulated with grape seed oil and sodium hyaluronate, this fast-absorbing formula melts into skin, for a silky-smooth finish that normal to dry skin types will love. Age Group: adult.
This primer is such a life saver! This is my very first time using fenty primer and I already falling in love with the product. The finishing is very smooth on my face and it blend perfectly well with my foundation.
I am not so sure about the hydrating part because my skin type is normal so it doesn’t really give the hydrating effect to me. Another thing that I love is the texture as it is very soft and smooth, which didn’t feel greasy at all.
Since I have minimal pores on I face, I can say that it works to hide pores on my skin. I would definitely buy again and recommended to people that might have dry skin type. I hope it works for everyone too!.
This is the Fenty beauty pro filt’r hydrating primer and it comes in a full and travel size option. This is ideal for those with dry skin. It’s a lightweight formula that feels like a lotion, not too slippery, with a bit of a tacky feeling.
This goes on before your foundation to create a hydrated canvas. I felt like this did help to extend the wear of my makeup and help hide any dry spots. It didn’t blur or hide pores as well as other products.
If a simple, hydrating primer is what your looking for, this is a good option.
I have tried primers many times over the years and they failed to impress or prove their worth. This Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Primer however is the real deal. My skin changed over the past few years where I experienced dry areas for the first time – I’ve struggled to find the right skincare / makeup combination.
Read the reviews about this primer, took the plunge and will never look back. All day hydration, and makeup lasts all day without touch up. Highly recommend this product.

Went on smoothly and didnt feel heavy on my face. Had a slight oily feel but hid my pores like they never existed on my face. There really isn’t nothing bad to say about this product. My face still felt hydrated after taking off my makeup and that’s one of my biggest pros for this product.
It was easy to blend my foundation over and everything went on pretty smoothly. All in all, would recommend.
The product line uses ingredients that of course make your face feel bare even though it has product covering it. This product makes for a great canvas as it smooths out your skin covering the pores making them look smaller as it hydrates.
It not only males your skin look hydrated, but makes it feel so soft. You truthfully can were it alone with foundation etc. You will get a silky smooth finish.

I want to write this review because I notice other reviews not knowing how to apply the primer correctly and claim it peel or flake or cakey. Instruction on the box always advocate apply primer first then follow concealer and foundation, any makeup artist who has good real life experience will tell u otherwise.
Instruction comes as a guide, u don’t have to follow the exact steps. To make full use of this primer, just apply your concealer and foundation right after your moisturizer or sunscreen, use the primer as “last step” before powder setting.
In fact a lot of time I skip setting powder because the primer act as blurring and finishing touch, I simply brush bronzer or highlighter around my face to finish it off to have a dewy and natural radiance.
To apply the primer after foundation/concealer, first squeeze a tiny amount approx 1cm dot on palm and rub to slightly warm up the primer (don’t rub too long as it dries up quickly) and then “very lightly” Pat onto the face, very gently and lightly pressed on so that it doesn’t smear your foundation/concealer.
Just 2-3 firmed pressed, is all you need and that’s it, done! The primer can prolong your makeup whole day without even the need to blot your face (unless u have super oily skin then maybe just need to touch up once).
For the oily area say nose bridge, u can again warm very tiny bit with fingers, and Pat on 2nd time (with finger tips if on the nose) it u need extra strength to control oil. If u notice slight white patch, just slightly brush off with powder brush or gently wipe with powder puff.
This way, u will have the perfect skin look with this primer. And I hate writing this comment because I don’t want this item to be out of stock in future but then I feel for the girls who do not know how to use the primer and wrote a bad review abt this product.
So to be fair, this is a great product with the right use.
#LauraMercier Pure Canvas Primer in the “Blurring” finish is INCREDIBLE! I received this in a GWP from Ulta not long ago and have used it a handful of times. After switching several times to test other brands, I’ve ultimately decided that this is one of the BEST face primers I’ve ever used, bar none! My finicky skin is super satisfied with this primer; I’ve had no redness, dryness, clogged pores, or breakouts after using this.
It initially has a cream consistency but upon setting, it almost feels like a powder. Pure Canvas Blurring does a phenomenal job at filling in pores and prepping my skin for makeup application. This primer locks makeup down better than any other brand I’ve used so far (sorry other brands, I still love you too lol) without leaving that unwanted cakey look when I’m finished.
I’ve gotten about 5-6 full uses out of this deluxe sample tube so far and it isn’t empty! I can probably get two more uses out of it, so a little goes a long way. The full sized tube retails for $39.
00 USD at Ulta. I haven’t checked out other sites for price comparisons yet, but considering how little I have to use *and* how well this product works, I think it’s fairly priced and will absolutely be purchasing this in the very near future.
I definitely recommend this face primer for all skin types; mine is all over the place right now and Pure Canvas Blurring Primer works like a charm for me. I know it may be pricier than some would want to pay for 1.
7fl oz but it really is worth every penny! I’ve added a picture of the product itself, a photo of my face after moisturizer and #PureCanvas, and finally, a photo of the finished look. Try it out and thank me later! 😉 💕 #faceprimer #makeup #skincare #lauramercier.
If you’re as fed up with all this humidity as I am, and your makeup constantly sliding off your face, you need this Laura Mercier Primer – unbelievable. Yes, it is on the expensive side, but it is a really generous size and I have found I need only use a small amount for it to be 100% effective at holding my makeup.
I use liquid foundation, so I do have trouble with it not staying in place when the weather is really warm. I am 56 years old, and I wear makeup every day – I like to have products that I can rely on well.
This product is just magic. It is a nice consistency, more of a cream than a gel, and it is just white. I use an amount the size of a small pill on my forehead and each cheek and chin, and just blend it in over my moisturiser (after letting my moisturiser settle in for a few minutes first).
You can feel straight away that the primer has gone into your skin and left your skin feeling “not slippery” at all – so you have confidence straight away that your foundation will sit really well. It has instantly become one of my Absolutely Must Haves amongst my beauty favourites, and I know I will continue to buy this product.
The product doesn’t have any noticeable smell – just a very gentle, subtle fragrance which is barely discernible. I love this!.
Look so fresh in this lightweight, hydrating primer from ColourPop! Refresh and prep your skin to create a silky smooth canvas before applying makeup. infused with hyaluronic acid (aka ha) and coconut water to support skin hydration, wear it under any tinted moisturizer, foundation, or alone for a fresh face look.
I love everything about this primer aside from ONE thing! First, let me just say that I LOVE CP and have been buying their stuff for years now and I am seldom ever disappointed with them! That being said, this primer is great on the skin.
The smell is a nice fresh coconut smell without being overwhelming and it is very hydrating on it’s own and under makeup. I have combination skin, I’m fairly oily in my T-Zone (especially in the summer months) but I also deal with a bit of dryness on the outer perimeter of my face and in the winter time (East Coast Girl) my face can become rather dry and red, especially around my nose.
So I love any hydrating primers or products to wear under my makeup or just on it’s own on the days where I go natural (which is even more often these days while running around after my toddler and keeping busy with our 8 year old daughter as well) so I was really excited about this product in conjunction with the PF foundation, concealer, and setting spray! I am planning on picking up the tinted moisturizer as well because I have heard great things! Anyway, I love this product a ton, but after only a week or so of purchasing it (I got it in store at my Ulta- I love that they sell CP now) I noticed that the orange color of the primer was oddly separating from the rest of the primer.
Almost looks like oil separating from water. I’ve heard people on the Ulta site reviews saying that this product has coconut oil in it, which is why it’s doing this but I am not 100% certain. Either way, I still use the primer.
All I do is shake it up really good (you can see it separating in the actual bottle as well) and when I pump it on the back of my hand (as I do with all my face products) I just mix the product back together before applying it on my face as my primer.
I am considering buying another one in store at Ulta and seeing if the same thing happens, maybe it was just an older batch or an odd batch of it. Perhaps I’ll order one as well with my current online order I am making for the holidays! Either way, it’s an easy fix and I don’t think it’s anything to be seriously alarmed by.
I love the primer and will continue to use it! It’s honestly replaced my Smashbox primerizer completely (I am going to use what I have left in the bottle and not waste it but I will not repurchase the Smashbox one anymore).
The SB one would “pill up” whenever I would apply certain foundations on top of it as well as if I tried to use another primer with it. I do not notice any “pilling” with the CP one and for the price difference you can’t beat it! ($12 compared to $32!) You have to try out this primer!!!.
I have been buying and trying several new foundations lately to see how they wear and look on my face. I’ve been looking for one that has staying power, radiant finish and leaves my skin looking like skin with a medium coverage.
So far most have been fails. I wasn’t expecting much from this foundation because it’s more on the drug store end of foundations and I’ve always thought that the higher priced foundations had more skin benefits.
But this foundation and this company have beautiful products. I’ve been using this foundation all week with different primers to see how it wears. First application/layer is probably strong light to light medium coverage that is buildable without it feeling heavy or looking too much like make-up sitting on your face.
It goes on wonderfully and blends so beautifully with either brush or sponge. I have fair, normal to sometimes dry skin with an even complexion. I am 41 so I have fine lines and I do not like the appearance of my pores on my cheeks.
It’s a beautiful foundation. It’s mixed well with all primers I’ve tried, but I especially like it with my CoverFx blurring primer. It leaves a subtle luminous appearance to the skin and so far has not settled into pores or lines.
I do lightly set with my Bye Bye Pores setting powder, mostly over the pores I don’t like. I love the finish of it and I love the way it makes my skin feel. I had a very scant amount of transfer, but it was 90 degrees outside and I was sitting in a hot car when I noticed the transfer.
Otherwise, I’ve not noticed any more transfer even with wearing a mask. I don’t feel it lasts all day, but it does last a good 6 hours before it starts wearing off. However, I only notice it wearing off when I’m looking up close.
Otherwise, from a conversational distance it still looks very pretty. It’s one I know I’ll use again.
Wow is all I can say! I was using Dr. Brandt’s Pores no More primer for a while. They stopped selling it in store, and I began trying out several different primers. Fenty made me break out like I was in middle school again and took weeks to recover.
Was more recently using Smashbox Color Correcting primer with mediocre success. I tried this primer and it was a GAME CHANGER. I haven’t had a break out at all since using this product. My foundation (CC cream) goes on like a dream and it lasts all day.
I couldn’t recommend this product more, especially for the price. It does not have a matte finish, which may be a huge downside to some. Fair warning. This has been the prefect primer for me.
I really like this stuff! I have dry skin, but it tends to get oily when I wear makeup – unless I prep my skin with the right stuff. I had been struggling to find a primer that doesn’t make my skin feel too hydrating where I become greasy or too dewy, and I can’t do a mattifyjng primer either.
Every time I found a hydrating primer it would make my makeup slip right off. When I discovered this, my makeup routine got so much better. It’s the perfect happy medium between priming and gripping your makeup, although it doesn’t have a sticky finish like the Milk Hydro Grip or the Elf Mint Melt (not a fan of those textures) this one performs like those but without the sticky finish.
It feels like a water based gel moisturizer, and it smells so good! By the look of the reviews, it seems like it could be a hit or miss. But if you have combo to dry or dry skin, I would totally recommend this product.
When I know I’m going to be out all night and need my makeup to last, I use a little bit of a mattifying primer over this primer, to ensure locked makeup.
You can definitely see the moisture in this product back heart on my finger in the photo on my thumb, it is ever so hydrating that it’s almost unbelievable it’s like if you don’t hurry in pick your placement are your area to apply, it may be dripped off your finger onto your bed perhaps, LOL.
Of course I don’t always put primer on my face while sitting on my bed but desperate moments call for desperate measures right ladies and gents? ❤️👌🏼👍🏼okaaaay-This specific primer puts just enough of a separation barrier or the word gap if you would like to use that instead of the word barrier, This product puts just enough separation will use that word, between your foundation and your primer and of course your face! It makes it so much easier to get the blending the most blended it can possibly be.
And let’s face it we all want and need our make up to be 100% blended and applied to our very best or we’re just not gonna have it right ladies? I have a literally started all over because I’ve started and gotten like 30 minutes to 45 minutes through and everything’s perfect make up wise, and I can’t get my eyeliner to work on one eye and I have a breakdown in my bathroom to where I break everything that’s another story for another day LOL anyways the word for this product but heart Tarte- “quench” ISSS THE PERFECT Name they could have chosen because that’s exactly what it does it sucks up all of that moisture and grime and dirt and keeps a cleaner atmosphere in between your skin and your foundation! I can’t believe I overlooked this little bottle as many times as I have when I’ve been in Sephora, but I’m making up for that now by recommending this to so so so many people that I know that have the exact same problem like about 90% of us do with our skin.
I recommend this mainly for sensitive skin people Because that’s exactly what its greatest for! And it works with all skin types and really really really make sure pores Feel like they’re not even there and your skin feels like silk!.
This is one of my favorite primers! It protects my skin from getting make-up in my pores so I don’t break out. I only have to use a small pea size amount for my whole face and neck to make my foundation go on fast and easy.
I don’t have to use as much foundation either when I use this primer. This primer help my make-up stay on all day and (even night) if I end up sleeping in it. I try not to do that but when I have, my skin doesn’t break out and the make-up still looks close to like when I put it on.
This also keeps my skin hydrated without it getting oily. It balances it out and really feels like it’s doing so much good for my skin. That’s something that’s really important to me. I would definitely recommend using this product if you have sensitive skin and are prone to breakouts because it will balance out your skin by adding moisture and therefore, controlling the oil.
It also adds that layer of protection like a barrier between your skin and your make-up.
Take your skin on a trip (geddit?) Boasting a heavy hit of plant-derived oils, as well as moisturising, soothing and balancing aloe water, cherry blossom, hyaluronic acid, and B vitamins, this hard-worker deeply hydrates skin for a smooth and blissed-out finish.
While the game-changing addition of blue agave extract forms an invisible layer to grip make up for all-day hold. In fact, in a consumer study 100% of subjects said their skin felt more hydrated, had a healthy-looking glow and their make up lasted longer as long as 12-hours post application! Just allow the formula one minute to fully absorb to activate full grip effect and then apply your make up as normal to create a flawless and long-lasting make up look.
I was looking for a new makeup primer and keep hearing so much about this primer. I have combination/oily type skin and prefer my makeup more matte than dewy. My skin is well hydrated and my skin care is consistent.
I purchased this and also decided to try Fenty Soft Matte, but tried the Milk for two days in a row. My final thoughts is that it did not work as I had wished or expected. I was way more greasy in my t-zone and it did not impress me with keeping the makeup intact either.
However, I got professional makeup services done and my makeup stayed intact for over 12hours. When I asked my artist what she used as the primer, she said she used this product, but also set it with loose powder.
It made sense but I never got to try it because I had already returned it. Right now, I don’t think I will repurchase because I didn’t like the texture or application on my skin (it’s like a liquid gel consistency with a little sticky/ tacky feel/ residue) and I prefer creams/ lotions/ silky gel textures.
I received this product to test courtesy of Influenster and Milk in exchange for my honest review. I am in no way by any means good at doing makeup, so I am not usually a heavy makeup user (most days it’s mascara and go if that).
When I do, I tend to fall into the good ol days of 2000s makeup techniques such as using my fingers for everything. I typically don’t use primers because I don’t like the way they have interacted with my various foundations and ultimately leaving my face looking less than desirable.
Once I figured out the right amount of this primer to use, I loved the way it held my L’Oreal Paris’ True Match foundation. Once it was on, it went no where. I had a particularly long weekend recently, and this primer (along with the Milk eye shadow and concealer primer) kept my face looking so fresh from Friday to Sunday that I forgot I even had makeup on (yes, I’m aware that not removing my makeup daily is bad for my skin).
I didn’t even use a finishing spray since I couldn’t find mine, so I’ll have to test that out next weekend. I’m not one for spending what I consider large amounts of money on makeup, but Milk may have just changed the game for me.

A face primer that quenches skin with a surge of moisture to create the perfect canvas for longer-lasting, flawless makeup. What Else You Need to Know: This ultra-hydrating skin complex helps to lock in moisture and keep your foundation in place.
The unique jelly texture melts into the skin for quick hydration that provides a makeup-ready canvas in seconds.
I’ve never really cared for face primers until I found the perfect one – Huda Beauty Water Jelly Hydrating Face Primer. It’s described as being an ultra-hydrating primer that smooths and quenches skin with a surge of moisture to create the perfect canvas that’s ready to grip makeup in place for long-lasting, flawless wear.
I really love the jelly water texture of this primer, it’s super light-weight and easy to apply. Melts into my skin almost immediately and not only does it add hydration to my skin but also gives it a healthy, glowy look.
It works great with all of my favourite foundations, not just the Huda Beauty one and it without a doubt helps to hold my makeup in place for much longer – I really wish I added this into my routine way earlier!.
I gave this three stars because it’s not a bad primer per say, but at the same time I don’t really see any benefits to it. The consistency is a jelly that melts quite fast, giving the skin a cooling effect once applied.
It sunk in nicely to my skin and didn’t have a tacky finish. While it feels nice, I wouldn’t say it’s a super hydrating primer. I bought this along with the new stick foundation ( they were recommended on their site as being a suitable duo.
) As somebody with oilier skin I did not enjoy the foundation for my own skin but I also found that this primer did not work well with it. This primer made the foundation slip around my face and my foundation completely wiped off if I touched my face at all ( even after powdering.
) Again, this is probably in regards to oilier skin but I do not think the formulas played nicely together for me. I did test it with a few other matte foundations and I didn’t have that same issue, the matte foundations seemed to pair better with this primer.
You get a decent amount of product in the bottle, and even though it’s not the most expensive primer out there I just don’t think it’s worth the price. It honestly doesn’t do much in my opinion.
Since I started using this primer, I don’t have to use as many products to prep my super dry skin for makeup application. In the past I’ve always struggled to keep my forehead & cheeks from looking patchy or peeling during the day bc I’m so dry.
I used to layer on two serums and two moisturizers under my makeup just to maintain balance—and after all that I would still have issues with makeup settling into the lines and pores on my forehead. Not anymore.
Thanks to this primer, I don’t have to use as many products to prep and the makeup doesn’t settle into my lines and pores. Not only does this primer keep my skin hydrated, but it also makes a big difference in the way my makeup lasts.
I look as fantastic at the end of a long day as I did at the beginning. The product is not sticky at all; it dries cleanly and you’re left with a nice dewey glow. You really can’t feel it on your skin.
I like it so much for moisture and the glow that I’m also using it on days when I go without makeup. Great product and worth every penny!.
