I had to restore some wooden windows in my 1958 house. The paint was cracked and wood damaged from many years of neglect. I got this thing and went to town with it. In most spots you can get right down to the bare wood if you do it right.
Take a few minutes and read the directions on how to hold it and scrape as you go. It makes a big difference. If you’re stripping windows, be sure not to put too much heat in one area as you’ll crack the window.
Ask me how I know. Luckily it’s a small window and should be cheap/easy to replace. Just letting you know to be careful. Not sure why there’s a low setting. I used it on high all the time. I followed the path of the heat gun with the scraper and it peels right up.
After that I sanded to get the remainder off and repainted and got excellent results. Saved a few thousand on new windows by restoring them. Don’t bother getting the real expensive version. You only need one setting really.
Anything else would be a waste of money. Might want to wear some gloves too, as the tip gets super hot and I had a few minor burns from accidentally touching the back of my hand when the scraper would slip.
Although the heat gun did start to peel paint from the furniture I was using it on, it was very, very slow even on its hottest setting. After ten minutes, I had removed a fairly small patch of paint, and not even that well (i.
e. there was still some paint left). Unfortunately, the gun started smoking after this, and continued to smoke for about 30 minutes, at which point I stopped using it. For reference, I followed all the instructions in the manual, including how to put the gun down so that it would release its heat most effectively after use.
Many other heat guns were considered before selecting the Wagner. This unit is loaded with all the best features compared to other options and available at a great price point plus long warranty. Great product.

1500 W deliver high heat and multiple fan settings. Two-speed selector delivers high and low fan speed settings. Variable temperature dial allows for easy adjustment of temperatures. Integrated support stand allows the gun to sit upright for hands-free use.
Integrated hanging hook is ideal for storage. 6 ft high-grade cord improves flexibility during cold use. Lightweight 2 lb gun offers less fatigue when holding.
Best heat gun I have ever encountered. My only complaint is the nozzle, and the Wagner 10355 Heatgun Nozzle Concentrator, https://smile. Home Essentials Direct. com/gp/product/B010MC54PQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1, is a perfect fit.
Update, Aug 2018 This is a 4-way review, perhaps most relevant to Sous Vide Cooks: 1) Heat Gun, 2) torch, 3) Searzall, 4) Fan Nozzle First purchase, the Porter Cable PC1500HG electric heat gun, but found it lacking for finishing meat cooked Sous Vide.
At the time of purchase, I was not aware of the Fan Nozzle. However, it is a great heat gun. Cost, $28. 30 Next purchase, the popular Benzomatic TS8000 torch and the companion Searzall Torch Attachment.
The torch is a great replacement to my old propane torch, and the Searzall adds functionality as shown in numerous Youtube videos. Cost, $40 torch, $75 Searzall, total $114. Then I discovered the Porter Cable Fan Nozzle that fits the Porter Cable PC1500HG heat gun, making it almost as efficient as the Searzall and Torch for searing meat.
AND I can use the Porter Cable heat gun indoors with the meat on a cheap, steel “jellyroll” pan, which I usually place on my gas range just in case some hot air strays beyond the edges of the pan. Put the nozzle a fraction of an inch above the meat, and it sears rather quickly.
Cost, $11. 44. Yes! I paid 10x the cost of the nozzle for the Searzall and Torch! I will sometimes use the Searzall, but only when I have enough searing to justify taking the task outdoors. Most of the time, the time for moving everything outside, getting the torch from the garage, returning the torch, and moving back indoors makes it just as efficient to use the electric heat gun indoors, perhaps more so.
All work great products, but sometimes I think that had I known then what I know now, I could have saved $114. However, the Searzall is hotter than the torch and covers a larger area.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the quality of this heat gun. It has a nice heavy duty electric cord and it is nice and flexible. Also plenty long enough to be able to get any place its needed being six feet long.
I Use it mainly for shrink tubing on electrical wires. I am a Amateur Radio Operator and do a lot of antenna building I am always using shrink tubing on coax and connectors and this is a high quality tool I am happy to have.
I see in the manual that one of the main uses for this heat gun is removing pain. I have not tried this yet but will in the future It has a variable temperature dial on the side and this makes it much more versatile than most heat guns.
It has big red dial and is easily adjustable for most applications This is an important feature because it is a 1500 Watt gun that gets very hot. I see in the manual it says the temp range is 120 degrees to 900 deg.
so caution should be used with this tool. Another nice feature is its has a two speed fan so you can control how much heat you put on your project. This heat gun comes with a manual to describe how to use it and cautions to be aware of.
It has a polarized plug also and it is designed for use with 120 volts AC Porter Cable has always been a good brand so I am looking forward to many years of use.
I honestly thought the air output would be a little higher, not quite like a hair dryer or anything, but just more volume. It has a relatively soft output of air, but the temperature dial is very effective at least.
Temperatures seem to adjust immediately as the dial is turned which is perfect if you are trying to maintain a specific, but consistent, level of heat applied. You just dial up or down without having to pull the heat gun away from the product to wait for the temperature to adjust and catch up.
Aside from the air speed only having two speeds, low and lower, the only real gripe I have is the quality behind the air speed slider on the handle itself. Most times just trying to slide the switch up to the first spot (lower), the switch will not really stop where it is supposed to and you have to drag it back down slowly until it catches and actually turns the heat gun on.
Going straight up to the top slide of the switch (low) doesn’t have any problems, just that first stopping point not catching well.
The Craftsman CMCE530B 20V Cordless Heat Gun Bare delivers a high temperature of 950 degrees for a variety of applications. It reaches operational temperature in 7 seconds for increased productivity.
This heat gun includes a deflector nozzle as well as a spreader nozzle. The curved deflector nozzle directs hot air around surfaces for even heating in applications such as shrink tubing while the spreader nozzle spreads heat evenly over a wider area for applications like drying, shaping and stripping paint.
A compact design allows for use in tight spaces for a variety of applications.
I was excited to try the cordless heat gun because I recently got into resin crafting and had heard that heat guns can be helpful in removing bubbles from projects. The heat gun in very easy to use, lightweight, and works very well.
It will heat up in seconds and it does do wonders for blowing away air bubbles in the resin material. My favorite features are 1) that it is cordless because I don’t have to worry about being close to an electrical socket or that the cord will drag over my work area and disrupt things and 2) that there is a safety latch over the trigger so I don’t have to worry about accidentally turning it on when I don’t mean to.
As I said before it is lightweight as well as being easy to grip and hold on to, so it’s very easy to maneuver and use any angle or way you need to. An added bonus are the two attachments that come with it, one for dispersing the heat so you are not putting it directly onto the object and the other for fanning the heat out so you can cover more area at once.
Overall, this is a tool that I am happy to have in my toolbox!.
Craftsman cordless heat gun heats up in seconds. Very easy to handle and use. Not too heavy even with the battery pack attatched. Includes a spreader nozzle and a deflector nozzle for better heat direction.
Does not include the battery, or a storage case. Works great for small home projects, we seal up some of our windows for the winter. We usually use a hair dryer to shrink the plastic, which takes a little while.
With this heat gun, it took seconds! Also works great for defrosting the freezer, and melting ice on outside areas since it’s cordless. I’m sure there are many other great uses, I just haven’t gotten to try them yet.
This product was perfect and right on time! We just purchased our first home and the home is old with the most ugliest wall paper. After spending hours trying to use a scrapper my husband suggested using the cordless glue gun baby when I tell you this was the brightest idea.
I think I worked harder and not smarter because the product was heavy but the heat was perfect for what I needed it for. I love how it offers different nozzles for whatever your purpose. I thought it would take about 15-20 mins to heat up but within seconds it was up to temperature and ready to go.

It will give you the edge for carrying out tasks such as tinting car windows or wrapping your cars interior. – Removing rusted bolts – Heat the nut with a heat gun if it won’t come off. This causes the steel to expand, which can break the rust seal.
Apply heat for about a minute, then allow the nut to cool. – Shrinking PVCOur heat guns are simple to use and have the power to efficiently shrink wrap products at the speed you need. With excellent air velocity settings, it quickly shrinks PVC and/or Polyolefin shrink film in just a few seconds – Using the heat gun you can bend a piece of PVC pipe at just about any angle without using any adhesives or elbow joints.
Not only convenient but also dramatically speeds up the job.
This heat gun is obviously styled on a DeWalt(TM) model. However the designers arguably need to study their model more carefully because they have made a few curious decisions. Switch setting 2 increases airflow but decreases heat power.
No problem. However the heat power dial built into the back is to my way of thinking BACKWARDS. If the graphic for maximum power is aligned with the triangle molded into the case. you get minimum heating power.
Not a big deal I suppose because the user can work it out. When adjusted correctly it does produce a lot of heat, and it was inexpensive, so overall reasonably good value.
Have not tested it over time. but initially it appears very good value. with a good adjustable range of heat for most any application. I’ve had two electronic display Wagner fancy heat6 guns that quit very quickly.
Go places your corded heat gun can’t. This 20V MAX cordless heat gun is compact for use in tight spaces and diverse applications, including heat shrinking wire tubing and paint and decal removal. It features up to a 990 Degree max output temperature and comes with two temperature settings.
The specialty lock-on and lock-off features allow for handsfree operation. The nozzle is the standard size of traditional heat guns, allowing attachments from corded units and other brands to fit with ease.
This cordless heat gun includes a flat nozzle and hook nozzle attachment, as well as a DCB205 5. 0 Amp-Hour battery and charger.
This is a great heat gun for small and quick projects. I purchased it to dry small areas of paint, wet drywall, shrink wrap, as well as for other miscellaneous projects around my home. It doesn’t disappoint.
It heats up fast, gets as hot as advertised and the safety and continuous trigger lock make it comfortable to use and prevent accidental triggering. The build is what I expect from DeWalt. The grip is comfortable, the gun itself doesn’t get hot, it feels solid and isn’t too heavy(though 4+ Ah batteries make it significantly heavier).
My only complaint is that it drains batteries fast (less than 15 mins continuous use on a 4 Ah fully charged battery), the heater parts stay hot well after use and the gun can’t stand up without the battery.
However, I do think DeWalt compensated for the hot issue by including lots of rubber parts including side bumpers that keep the hot parts off of surfaces. The gun would just need to cool before storing away.
This is a nice compact & portable heat gun for small jobs, especially where dragging a power cord would be inconvenient. I’ve used it to repair breaks in our underground dog fence, and my wife has used it for some vinyl stencil work in her crafting (I’ve also used it to release bubbles in epoxy resin pours).
Compared to my corded heat gun, it does not produce NEAR the volume of air, and I haven’t compared max temps between the two. I’d say they’re probably close enough it doesn’t matter – but the air volume I did find a little disappointing.
You’re not going to work quick with this tool, but for some applications, that’s okay.
This heat gun is perfect for delicate work. Example being decal removal from vehicles. It puts out just enough heat but not too much that you need to worry about damaging the factory paint near or under said decal.
The trigger system works great and comes with attachments. If you’ve a rapid charger it will recharge a 4 or 5 ah battery by the time you you run out. In other words if you’ve a lot of heat gun work to do make sure you’ve got two batteries.
Do you hate those pesky air bubbles? The ultimate tool for resin artists and every epoxy resin project. Create special effects, remove air bubbles and more. Dozens of uses for this 2 speed heat gun for epoxy resin tables, river tables, resin art paintings, jewelry, casting, encapsulating and more.
Use a Warrior 1500 watt, 2 speed heat gun. Two heat settings with a lot of power 700° and 1000°F. Accessories will fit this model, though it does not come with any. Warrior is light weight with a 6 foot cord and a built in stand for cooling, features 2 heat settings, with high/low airflow can be used to remove air bubbles, remove labels, strip paint, shrink tubing, shrink film, and shrink wrap packaging, dry out damp wood, bend and weld plastic, soften adhesives, and thaw frozen pipes.
I’m a big fan of using products as much as I can in the return window so that I can get a feel for the likelihood that it will survive. This heat gun is the reason for that. I used it for one project that just required a half dozen or so pieces of heat shrink.
It worked great. Held an even temp, warmed up fast and made the job easy. Put it away for a couple of months and started a much larger project of rewiring a tandem trailer. Used it quite a bit and continued to work great until today.
Plugged it in a hit the switch, nothing happened for about 2-3 seconds the it flickered on and shut off, then nothing. Tried different outlets and wiggled connections but nothing. I’ll return it tomorrow and step up to the next model up and see how it does.
Had it been out of the warranty period I would have taken it apart to see if it’s repairable, but it’s not worth the hassle in this case.
For me I do not need fourteen heat setting. Two is one more than I need. One cannot find a better Heat Gun for the same money. Believe it or not the main thing I use this heat gun for is to mirror shine my shoes.
You are not shining the leather, you are bringing out the shine in the wax. I will put about eight coats on a new pair of shoes or boots. A light ten second buff in the mourning with an old soft sock and shoes look like patent leather.
With that many coats of wax the up side is they are absolutely waterproof. I use this Heat Gun to melt the wax in. Then spray lightly with ice water to harden the wax and bring out the shine when buffed.
I am 68 and for as long as I can remember I would not leave my home unless my footwear shined. This Heat Gun is my second gun. I got about ten years from my last gun. It was the same as this gun. If I would have only gotten two years out of it, I would still be money ahead of buying a name brand heat gun from a big box hardware store.
I’ve had this heat gun for about a year or so. It was purchased for occasional use – mainly heat shrinking small electrical connections on my boat. It’s was used lightly 4 to 5 times. After use, I allowed the gun to cool down and stored it in the original box in a tool cabinet in my workshop.
I was unable to use it yesterday because the entire housing had become extremely sticky leaving black tacky residue on my hands that was not easily removed from my skin. Attempts to clean the housing with various products proved futile.
It’s unusable. Disappointing, don’t waste you money on a product that disintegrates in the box!.
Make your projects fast and easy with this NTE HG-300D Mini Heat Gun. It has a variety of uses. This 350W heat gun features two temperature settings. You can adjust between a low 482 degrees Fahrenheit or a higher 662 degrees Fahrenheit.
This tool can be used for soldering as well as heat shrink tubing, embossing and drying a variety of paints, glues and inks. It’s designed to be lightweight and comfortable to hold for long periods of use.
The nozzle features a shield for increased safety. This soldering tool also has a built-in bracket that allows for self-support and easy use on a table top. It’s ideal for making DIY projects easier to do at home.
I’ve used this heat gun on two projects, so far, and it worked very well on both of them. The first project was rewiring my trailer, which had large gauge wire and heat shrink tubing. I had to use an extension cord and the gun was easy to orient and rugged enough to use outside.
The second project was a small power supply for my bench. Most of the wires were small gauge and the parts were far more cramped than the trailer. The gun was easy to orient and directed the heated air to the heat-shrink tubing without damaging the other components.
4/5 stars as it doesn’t have a proper stand to keep it upright. I wound up rigging it with a strip of cardboard as a long horizontal foot on the tiny metal stand bar. Without this the unit will constantly fall over, mainly from tension or weight of the power cord.
Other than that the actual performance is outstanding. The low and high settings do come in handy pending what’s being done with it. Gets hot fast, blasts the heat where you aim it and its lasted for quite the time so far without any failure.
This heat gun works great on heat shrinks. From 1/64″ to 1/4″ ( this are the shrink sizes I used on), even works good on large spaces, like putting on magnetic labels, This heat gun works great. It is also very light, comparing to full size heat guns.
I highly recommend this heat gun. This heat gun has a lot more different uses. It has two speeds, allowing you to use heat properly. It is also perfect to dry small parts between spraying coats of paint!.
Titan Tools 22400: Heat Gun, 750/1,500 Watts, 110/120 V AC, Each – Titan offers tough tools for tough jobs! Titan Tekz electric heat guns are durable ABS plastic, electric heat guns ideal for plastic welding, shrink tubing, and paint stripping.
They feature a dual temperature setting and a 3-position rocker switch (off, high, and low) and are double-insulated.
I was trying to find a nice heat gun for a decent price. I checked our local store that “Freights” in tools and stuff from China. This heat gun was priced better and works better then the ones they have! Puts out a good amount of heat! I needed it for heat shrinking wires and also for reforming my fender well liners to install a set of fender flares I bought.
The fender flares were super easy to reshape with this gun. However, if you are going to shrink wire wrap I would suggest getting an attachment for the gun that swirls the air around the wire. It would make it MUCH easier to do then.
Although other reviews say that its fragile, I have not had any issues and I have dropped it on accident a few times. My only issue/complaint is that the stickers on the gun were peeling off when I got it.
They also were not applied very well and run off the indented area on the gun where the sticker should sit. I really didn’t care, except that the one sticker has the guns ratings on it. For heat output, amperage, etc.
I like having that info on my tools. Other then that its a solid buy and I would happily buy another or suggest it to a friend!.
I have been re-wiring my 1966 Olds Cutlass, necessitating many shrink-wraps and this heat guy has proven to be just what I have needed. The Titan Tekz heat gun has been a rock star. It’s solid. I’ve already dropped it a couple of times and it hasn’t fazed it.
The Milwaukee 12. 5-Amp Variable Temperature Heat Gun with LCD Display generates temperatures from between 120 and 1,150 degrees Fahrenheit for fast coat removal, drying or shrink wrap application. It’s 12.
5-amp motor rapidly heats up the gun to get your jobs done quickly. The variable-temperature heat gun is sensitive enough for adjustments of just 10 degrees at a time, with an LCD display that shows you the exact temperature you are operating at.
It rapidly cools back down once you turn off the gun to avoid accidental fire or injury. Stabilizing pads let you place this Milwaukee heat gun where you need it and let it run without fear of tipping it over as you work on another task.
The gun features three air volume modes, up to 15. 89 cubic feet per minute, with the slowest speed only moving room-temperature air for easy cooling operations.
It took me entirely too long to break down and buy one of these. Since I can remember I have always bought the “budget” heat guns to save a few bucks and have always ended up disappointed. Not once Milwaukee called me and this tool is what has cemented that in my mind.
The variable heat feature with lcd temperature display thermostat makes this top of the line. This one will do great with military avionics, military ship building, and submarines electrical and many more uses.
This is what I use it for routinely!!! It is also very durable and accommodates numerous tips that are required for avionics, marine cables. It also is the only one I use since I can set it not too hot to burn specialty cables.
High-power rapid heating, the maximum power is 350W, and the maximum temperature reaches about 662 degree. The use of nickel-chromium heating wire structure and mica bracket can accelerate the heat dissipation speed and prolong the service life.
Simple and lightweight design, stainless steel tuyere, external PC&PA6 + 30GF is more durable, plastic shell uses non-slip soft rubber; can be used to burn powder, remove old paint, heat to shrink film, defrost and remove dirt, etc.
, very suitable for DIY. 2M long battery and extra long power cable make the working area larger.
I need to do several small jobs with heat shrinking/wrapping of electrical connectors and wiring and this heat gun does more than adequate job for what I need. It is much more compact in size comparing to an old heat gun I used many years ago so storage space does not require much.
Cord is about 6 5″ and output heat can get up to about 350°C or 662°F which is very hot, yet the safety tip cover keeps the gun fairly safe and warm i. Case of inadvertent contact. The retractable stand also keeps it from rolling when not being held.
Overall I like this tool a lot and would recommend.
Stanley Black & Decker – DeWalt Heavy Duty Heat Gun. This Heat Gun from DeWalt features variable temperature control that allows for adjustment of the heat settings. Its built-in overload protection shuts the heating element down and prevents burn up and its built-in hang ring adds a convenient storage feature.
A built-in innovative kickstand support provides greater stability and prevents tip over. The Cord Protector keeps the cord from tearing away from the housing. Its ergonomic comfort grip and lightweight and compact design provides greater comfort for long hours of use.
Separate Internal Components allows maintenance on both the motor and the heating element. 1550 Watts, 120V, 13 Amps. Temperature: 120 to 1100 degrees F. Comes with cone nozzle and fishtail surface nozzle.
This is an excellent heat gun. I own two of them, one for work and one at home. I use the home one mostly for removing labels. At work, I use it for removing shelf paper and pre-heating vinyl composition tile prior to setting and also for taking the curve out of vinyl cove base and bending it around outside corners.
I leaving it running continuously for more than an hour at a time, no problems. The heat is adjustable through a full range by turning the black screw dial on the back end. clockwise increases heat, counterclockwise turns it down.
It comes with some attachments for different uses giving narrower or broader heat distribution. I had a problem with the first one I bought not heating up, so I took it to a Dewalt repair place and they sent me a new one, no questions asked.
In retrospect, I think it may not have been anything wrong with the gun, but rather my lack of figuring out how the black screw dial worked. Yeah, I know — DUH!.
This heat gun is fantastic. Has the ability to adjust th temperature from 200 to i believe 1200 degrees F and gets scorching hot in a timely fashion. This gun is super high quality and has a very solid build, almost feels like a luxury item.
ANY heat gun manufacturer will have defective units simply due to the intense nature of these products but the probability of you receiving one is extremely rare. I have used many heat guns and this one is the best.
The cable is super thick & long but very bendable and durable so it won’t tangle or get rips or tears. Many times you won’t even need an extension cord for this gun. I also has a stand and different head attachments for concentrated heat.
If you were like me and every time you find a heat gun you like, then you change your mind because of the negative reviews, then look no further. BUY THIS HEAT GUN! you will love it. Its by far the nicest one and best value out of any I have seen and has a great warranty.
In my opinion this is a better buy than any of the other heat guns I have seen/used regardless of price.
So far so good although I haven’t used it that much yet. I like the fact that you can stand it up on the floor or on a table with the hot part facing up. Variable temperature is nice and A nice long cord which seems to be the right distance.
Not too long or too short. I am starting to wonder why I didn’t get something like this a lot earlier.
Make it easy to seal your solder and crimp splices with NTE’s heat shrink kit. The mini heat gun features 2 speed/temperature settings and a built in, self-supporting bracket. You also get 160 assorted sizes and colors of heat shrink tubing in a convenient storage case.
Works as well as you’d expect — just a basic heat gun. I use to to wilt the stringing residue from 3D print and to contract heat shirnk tubing. Not sure how it would do for heavier duty purposes (not out of any sort of doubt, but just because I have never tried).
The heat gun has a selectable temperature switch and keeps a consistent temperature. The stand is not ideal, but it does the job. I would have preferred a stand like my soldering iron has. The heat shrink tubing has several sizes and as long as I did d not overheat it, it did its job.
This heat gun is perfect for Beginners or anyone that doesn’t really require a larger one. And the included heatshrink was a huge plus. The only issue I noticed is when you run the higher setting on the gun, it may smoke a little bit but that’s probably just from the element heating up for the first time? Overall, a great product!.
Coated handle provides secure hold and a comfortable grip. 9-step temperature adjustment for many applications. Application of edge banding, shrinking of heat shrinkable tubing. Also for soldering, welding and disinfecting.
Overheating protection through thermostat The motor is at right angles to the main air flow and is therefore protected against contamination. Can be placed upright.
I use heat guns on a daily basis to tint cars. I purchased two of these heat guns and both failed within 3 months. The old Makita’s were high quality but these new ones are cheaply made and will not last long.

Propane Heat Tool, 100,000 BTU This 100,000 BTU propane fired heat tool is lightweight, economical, and good for do-it-yourselfers. Great as a secondary heat tool or backup. Complete kit includes Heat gun, 25′ hose, regulator, carry case, safety glasses, gloves, and training DVD.
The torch itself is great, once in a while it doesn’t light, but bic lighters don’t always light either, produces a lot of heat and becomes second nature on how to use after a few tries. The only thing i don’t recommend is the extension (which was not part of this purchase but did get it separately).
With the extension added its far to front end heavy to control. I ended up just getting a taller ladder and not using the extension. Other brands have much smaller diameter and lighter extensions making them lighter to hold.
But at less than half the cost of the other brand this torch for the money is so worth what you get and its operation. I used for boat wrapping. I deducted 1 star – only due to the extension issue, i realize it was not part of this sale, but most people if doing a large item would want the extension.
I was Leary because of the price but upon opening the case I was surprised at how good it was packaged. I assembled it and on the first pull of the trigger it fired right up. you will need to adjust the regulator to get the correct heat.
shrunk my boat nice and tight you can go real close to the plastic and not burn a hole through.
First time we wrapped our boat. We bought all needed materials from Dr. Shrink. The heat gun worked great! We just needed to follow the instructions. It takes a little bit of time to wrap a boat, but it will save you money.

I’ve burnt up a few Chinese heat guns. I decided I would put out a little coin and get something made to last. So far so good. The apparent build quality is excellent. Hopefully it will live up to its expectations and price point.
As always, Zoro had a great price and lightning fast free shipping.

First, Black & Decker make some really nice products for many years now. We have many tools and “gadgets” from them dating back in the early 90’s. So, we thought this heat gun might be something cool to add to our collection of cool tools and as it turns out after some reading and talking with friends that this heat gun would be an asset due to being able to accomplish many small projects.
My husband was playing around with it charring some wood pieces and now wants to make a shelf, char the wood and put a light stain on it. I think this project has some potential. I decided to try it by lightly forcing the paint to dry on an old iron hanging plant decor.
It reduced the drying time and I was careful to not overheat or hold it in place too long (as my husband was worried about this). My son has used it to help remove old stickers on a car that he is getting ready to paint.
Thus far, we really like this heat gun. And it is light weight, easy to hold and operate. We have many more projects that we have put aside for “rainy” days and my mind is constantly wondering how we might be able to incorporate the use of this tool in those projects.
We like it, but we are just everyday people with tasks and projects. We are not professional people and therefore I could not honestly say if this heat gun would stand up to commercial or heavy use. For all our intents and purposes this tool works very well.
My dad is a Mr. Fix It. He loves doing DIY projects and repairs himself, and especially loves growing his collection of tools. During a recent Walmart Spark Reviewer campaign, I saw the BLACK+DECKER HG1300 120V Dual Temperature Heat Gun and thought he might find it useful.
As a Spark Reviewer member, I received this product free of charge in exchange for my honest opinion. First off, I like that this tool is compact. In a garage or storage building already packed with appliances, this little guy won’t take up much space at all.
It includes 2 different temperature settings – 750 degrees and 1,000 degrees – and can be used for a variety of projects such as varnishing something, drying something quickly, or even melting frozen piping during the winter! One project we tried it with was applying an adhesive finishing side to a kitchen cabinet during installation.
It heated up the glue quickly and allowed the finish to look nice and secure. If you like to do a lot of at-home repairs and DIY projects, this tool would be a great addition to your collection. The possibilities are endless! We enjoyed trying this product, and we appreciate Black+Decker and Walmart for the opportunity.
I recently acquired the Black and Decker 1350W Dual Temperature Heat Gun to see if I could use it to strip paint off of wood and metal. I especially like the instruction manual “Additional Safety Instructions”.
It is a shame the company has to point out this IS NOT a hair dryer. So off I go to the basement to try my new took on a small coffee table I got from a yard sale many years ago and has been waiting for me to get to it.
I found that it was best to “clean” the table from dust which had accumulated. I read the instruction manual, turned on the heat gun to warm up, got my other tools ready and started stripping the paint off the top of the table first.
Not so easy at first as I have never done this before. With patience and the right tools I soon had the top stripped. Legs were more difficult as they are not straight up and down. This Heat gun has a two year warranty, 30 day back money guarantee, and a “base” that you can use to sit the heat gun on till it cools or in between uses.
I have only used this heat gun on wood. I have yet to try metal. My advice is to READ the Instruction Manual thoroughly before using EVEN if you have used a heat gun before. Lots of good info. Plan your project, have everything ready, ventilate the room, and be near to an outlet.

It says it can go to 800 degrees but there’s no way it gets anywhere near that hot. I give it 3 stars because of this and also the batteries burn out pretty fast with it too. Maybe that’s normal for a cordless heat gun, this is my first.
I use it for heating up epoxy resin to remove air bubbles and it definitely suffices for this task.
This heat gun works fantastic. I use it for heat shrink, applying protective tape, quick dry of smallish areas after cleaning, removing stickers etc. It does what i need with no cord to get in the way.
It does not have the power of my corded unit but it is as good for 98% of the jobs I will need a heat gun for.
