20 Best Hands Free Devices While Driving (2022 Updated)

I purchased this item by the recommendation of a close friend. Due to I did not want to go through the major expense of having Bluetooth installed, this item definitely works in both of my cars. It was easy to set up and sync with my existing factory car radio.

Plus once I unplug it from my cigarette lighter, the radio channel does not erase.

I’ve been using the charger/transmitter for a few weeks and haven’t had a problem at all with it. The sound quality is great & both charging ports work. I have lots of unused radio stations in my area, so it was easy to find a good station to use, but if you don’t have many unused stations in your area, I wouldn’t recommend.

(The one problem I had was when I tried to call people, I couldn’t hear the other person through my speakers, but I’m not letting that effect what I think of the product because my main purpose was to use it for music.

I wouldn’t have used it for calls anyways because I wouldn’t want other people around me switching to the station I was on and listen to my conversations xD. ).

ROAV Anker FO is a great sounding BT transmitter for it’s price. The FO offer’s a LED display, 2 USB ports and the option of using a 3. 5mm audio jack and a Auto shut off when not in use. My suggestion: Shape and Size is a bit bulky.

Add a LED Smart Halo around the edge. Allow the Halo the ability to be customizable in it’s color and brightness. Car locator. LED Info readout.

I have an older vehicle that doesn’t have the option of talking through the car’s speakerphone. This is an excellent alternative and works as described for me. It’s a speakerphone not connected to your cars speaker system but it works just as well directly from this product.

I have it on the visor above the steering wheel. Not obtrusive or slightly.

Very pleased with this product, easy setup, great sound, good quality, does everything it says it can do. I highly recommend it!

Great Unit, Very Happy with the quality very clear better that the Jabra unit I had which was more expensive – I think could be a bit louder – But my car is very old.

I bought one of these and it lasted almost one year. I don’t make a lot of calls when I drive but the one day I had to take a call the answer button wouldn’t work. I went to press it and not movement.

It wouldn’t click. I had an electronic repair person take it apart thinking maybe he could change the switch under the screen, but nope. I was told that the lithium battery inside was swollen and it should be thrown out immediately.

so I did. then I bought a Scosche BT/FM transmitter. Best transmitter ever. I can stream music and take and answer calls right through my radio now. And no batteries to fail!.

Have been using my speaker on my phone for years but too many complaints from others on how hard it was to hear me. First phone using the Jabra and the person thought I was talking to them directly from my phone, the quality of the call to them was very very good.

Called a couple more people, and all said the same. Their sound quality of hearing me was excellent. However, cant say the same for me with the sound from the Jabra Drive. Tinny, distant, distorted. Think that should sum it up.

To be honest, really quite disappointed with the sound. Had to pull over twice on the first two phone calls just to hear what the person was saying. In retrospect, I wouldnt buy this again. Update Have returned this, the call quality from the speaker was so bad for so many calls it was just unusable.

Great little bluetooth. Didnt want a fitted one as always changing cars so this did the trick. I was worried about speaker quality at first but neednt have been, i can hear the caller very well and they have no problems the other end either and the volume goes up quite high.

Very easy to use and set up took seconds. Tiny downside for people like me who do very short car journeys is that it doesnt have time to fully charge so I have to take it into the house and plug it in.

and then remember to take it back to the car. You can charge in the car via the cigarette lighter but cable is only about a foot long so has to be removed from visor but i am sure you could easily get a longer cable.

I would still happily recommend it though.

value for money with great features. features depend on phone software, like google voice or SIRI. Works well with windows phone. battery life is very good and call quality is also very good with little background noise detected.

volume is also very good.

It is an easy to use bluetooth and the handsfree voice control is great. The phone can be left in the back of the car and never miss a phone call. The help we received from Blueant was fantastic so would thoroughly recommend this product.

This is serving it’s purpose extremely well. The mic and speaker both work very well and the handsfree operation is terrific. Very happy indeed.

I bought this item as a birthday present for my wife. Our state requires hands free phone operation when underway. The unit was defective right out of the box. It’s so called auto on/auto off feature didn’t work properly.

Of course, this will affect battery life considerably, requiring frequent charges. Naturally, the first thing any customer does is to spend time resetting everything, testing this and that, trying one phone at a time – a myriad of things to make sure it’s not “operator error.

” I contacted customer support at Avantree and they had test a few other things and finally suggested I return it and that they’d send a “free” replacement. Because I’ve invested about 20 hours of my time testing the unit under a variety of conditions, I thought this was fair.

The wife, at this point, wants nothing to do with it – so much for a birthday present. Well, it turns out that the “free” replacement was in itself replaced with a 10% credit. Wow, $2. 99 for 20 hours of my time and an upset wife.

Not satisfactory.

Pretty good. HOWEVER, it often picks up my calls when I am in the house and the vehicle is outside (not in the garage). Btw, the manufacturer will not warranty the item unless it is sold through one of their authorized dealers.

I know, because I contacted the manufacture about the product’s sensitivity issue (above) and they claim that their new version won’t pick up calls unless your phone is closer to the device. They claim that they would have exchanged it for me had I purchased it through an authorized dealer / retailer.

Oh, well.

This was an easy set up. I have enjoyed using this as I don’t have to do all things with the phone. I can ask google to do it for me including sending text messages. I have a Samsung galaxy S10 and this kit works with this phone.

Bought this a couple of months ago. Thought i get something so i was safe while driving and not get a fine by the police. I read all the reviews on this product. Some where good and some was bad. I found that alot of peoples problem not hearing conversations is to do with not having your volume uo on your phone as this effects what you here on the blue tooth and also if your battery low it will also effect your concentration.

The battery lasts along time too. As Ive got android phone i can also speak into the speaker while its on and you can ring people up with out trying to find your contacts. Also its great for google sat nav as it comes through the speaker nice and clear too.

Conclusion its been great for me.

Have been using this for a while. The sound isnt too bad but of course that depends on factors. What signal strength is like. What factors are affecting the other phone. Plus it holds its charge wellNEGATIVE.

I have a Samsung S4 Mini. When I first started using it I nearly threw it out the car window as it would link to media but not the phone. I tried switching it off and on, still no joy. I had switched it off one night and on restarting it kindly let me know it was connected.

The outcome is that I now switch off for a minute or so and it connects. Im also not sure if having Garmin Connect has any effect on its ability to connect.

Used a Jabra handfree before and generally happy with it. No complaints of sound quality from those on the other end of the call. The speaker is quite small, the only issue is if youre on a motorway and the other party is also using a handfree kit the sound is a bit crap.

Worth keeping a set of wired earphones in the car if call me back isnt always an option. A bigger speaker would help Im sure other models offer this.

Seems to be a quality unit. Very simple operation and set up. So far the only thing I have to get used to is when you open the car door and get in, a voice will say “connected”. It startled me the first couple of times doing that.

It auto paowers off and it wakes up when you open the door as it automatically hooks up with your phone. It takes a few rides to get used to using it. It doesw work with SIRI, you just have to wait on it for a few seconds.

So far I am impressed with it, especailly for the cost. It supposedly will stay charged for about three days, so unless you are cnstantly using your phone in the car I dont see why it shouldn’t.

It doesn’t have many controls, but I guess that goes with the price. Once it’s set up, darn this thing works good. The rechargeable battery lasts a long time before recharging is required. The sound clarity is as good as the factory hands free in my other two vehicles.

I like this hands free unit so much I bought a second one for my wifes car. Ive had mine a couple of years with no problems so far , switching from a more expensive one that failed. I can recommend the Avantree 10BS to anyone looking to purchase a hands free unit.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago, and it did not work in my 2006 Volvo S60. Apparently, the 12V receptacle in my vehicle is not compatible with the plug in on the Scosche BTFreq Pro wireless car kit.

When the device is inserted into the 12V receptacle, it immediately pops out, and the device is not operational in my car. Since it is not compatible with my vehicle, I can only comment on the design and not the features or performance of the device.

The device was compatible with the 12V receptacle in my 2013 Toyota Tacoma. The 12V receptacle in the Tacoma is deeper than the receptacle in my Volvo. However, my Tacoma is Bluetooth enabled so I did not test the device.

Since I’m required to rate to the features and performance for the device, I’ll rate each as fair based upon the product description. Based upon my experience, I would NOT recommend the device. I suggest that the manufacturer update the product information to include compatible vehicles.

I plan to return the device.

Product works fine. Make sure that the transmitter volume is set above 20 otherwise your calls will work but your music will not be heard or will play very soft. Was frustrating at first as thought the unit was defective.

Changing the frequency seemed to reset the transmitter volume so is best not to mess with this. Not sure why the transmitter volume should not always be at 30. Otherwise bluetooth worked fine and fast charging worked fine.

Not 100% perfectly clean sound but is good enough. Sometimes you will get a sketchy treble noise distortion on high notes so turn off any equalizer or reverb enhancements you have on your phone music player.

Seemed to help to just play the plain base MP3 file and makes the sound from the Bose car speakers with subwoofer acceptable. Also check that the frequency used is always full static with zero reception.

The stereo in my older SUV has neither an AUX audio input nor Bluetooth capability. I thought this device would solve that problem, which it ALMOST did. It’s nicely built and simple to use, but the FM output is so weak that you have to crank your volume way up to hear the music, which also increases the background noise.

I’ll be returning it. (Here’s a thought: These FM transmitters are intentionally designed for super short distances. My actual receiver is tucked away in a side panel in the rear of the vehicle, with a control head in the dash.

If you have a more traditional setup with the actual radio built into the dash, you might have better luck than I did. ).

Parrot reputation for great sound quality is warranted. Easy to install, easy to use. Custom wiring harness makes the install easy.

I use this for business and have to replace the battery in the wireless control monthly. I would not buy this product again.

Pairs easily. Works as expected. Only drawback is automatic on/off. The off feature stays active for 70 minutes after exiting the vehicle. If you are within the range of the device, your phone will seem to be not working.

It’s actually still broadcasting in the car. I have to remember to either shut it down or deactivate my Bluetooth when I get home.

Love this!! Pairing it with my personal and business phones was super easy. The sound quality is amazing most people I talk to can’t believe I’m using a bluetooth device. I can also listen to Pandora with it although the sound quality isn’t as good as my car speakers.

For $30 this was an excellent purchase!.

The first day I got this thing and put it on the car visor and drove to work I started hearing a rattling noise which I thought was coming from my car. Upon further inspection I found that it was the metal on metal contact between the visor clip and the magnetic portion of the unit.

Any time I called someone they heard what they though was static when in fact it was the rattling. I exchanged it for another one and it’s not as noticeable but it’s still there off and on. Calling tech support for this product is useless.

The tech support guy for Dual seemed rather annoyed that I was calling and gave one word answers.

I bought this because I was dissatisfied with the other bluetooth speakerphone I bought (I could never get the text-to-speech working). This is a pretty competent replacement, and at a better price, but the phone book transfer took me a while to figure out.

I had to create cards in my computer’s address book with nothing but a first name, last name and phone number (no spaces, parentheses, etc). That was the only way the speakerphone would “recognize” the number when it called and display the name.

And I had to create separate cards for each number (i. e. one for home, one for mobile). Not the end of the world, but kind of a pain.

Needs some handholding compared to embedded speakerphone but works fine otherwise

I bought this in February to help me with driving on the phone it was easy to use it turned on simple. but turning it off was a mission. no matter how long you pushed the on/off button it would not turn off.

it stressed me out so much over the 3 ish months I ended up stamping on it & throwing it at a wall 3 times till it was in bits. now it cannot stress me no more. only issue it’s got is now I cannot turn it on.

Brought this to use in my truck. Simple to pair with phone. I can hear caller and caller can hear me over the engine noise of truck love the reassuring bleep as the phone & device automatically pair up again.

Battery life will last for my heavy usage two days, quick to recharge only grumble and why one point deducted, charging lead is way too short.

Bought couple of weeks ago & so far so good. The sound quality is good, I have no problems hearing or being heard while driving. It connects automatically when I get in the car. I havent tested it on faster (noiser) roads but for my needs- use on local roads etc its good value & fit for purpose.

My Parrot 9200 kept dropping the left channel (music via iPod), and jiggling leads showed it was the media cable connecting the iPod to the Parrot box that was the problem. The new lead has sorted it – a bugger to fit, but that’s my car’s fault.

A cheap fix, and speedy delivery, too.

a very good product, top of the parrot line. unfortunately no longer manufactured since virtually every car now has this functionality.

This has been a great addition to our car. Our 2007 Volvo S80 did not come equipped with Bluetooth. While there is a dealer installed unit, the reviews of the Volvo unit were not very positive and the cost with all modules was in excess of [$].

Additionally I wanted an iPod interface (the car has an aux jack, but I wanted a unit that would power down when the car was shut off), but Volvo discontinued their dealer installed interface due to customer complaints.

Long story short, I happend across the MKI9200 while doing some research and have been extremely pleased. I would suggest that users stay away from using the steering wheel mount as it does tend to get in the way, but when mounted on the console the remote works great!.

At first I tried to use the tape deck where you can plug it into your phone. Which worked until my tape deck recognized that it won’t spin and kept on ejecting it. This was a great alternative, and I should have tried this from the beginning.

The only problem which I expected is to find a station where there is little background noise. Once the music or GPS is working through the bluetooth, I barely notice the background noise.

This unit is super simple to set up and totally solves not having an updated radio in my Suburban. Phone calls come in loud and clear. Music is controlled by the simple menu interface. Pairing is similar to any Bluetooth device.

Love the remote. Overall a stellar product!.

This product is great for streaming music from my phone to my car speakers since my car is low tech. It is easy to find an FM station and the sound quality is pretty good considering. The microphone feature has limited use since it is so far away from the driver.

I am so glad I decide to go to the target that was farther away to get this model. It’s more expensive but so worth it. I had to buy an older car with no aux plug in and no Bluetooth. I was super bummed about having to figure out CDs again but I read up on these Transmitters.

I almost didn’t get this because a past reviewer said it was difficult to set up and people were saying static etc etc, but I bought the most expensive one because I wanted to have a good listening experience.

Folks I had ZERO set up on this thing, I barely glanced at the instructions, the first radio station it was set to was what my radio channel was already on and it was up and running. I have AMAZING sound, just like a real Bluetooth, I even can take phones calls on this thing, as if my car had real Bluetooth.

I cried like legit I am so happy. Buying a car that was older, that was good on my pocket book, and not opting for something fancy had me feeling a bit bad since I had grown use to Bluetooth and fancy stereo stuff, this made my purchase in car perfect! This has just been flawless and amazing, technology is just so awesome, music means a lot and having this little gadget is wonderful.

I will continue to support this brand. Can’t go wrong.

This device is amazing! I love that it connects with my phone easily via blu-tooth so I can play Sirus and have the google map app running at the same time AND make phone calls! Works great on my 27 year old vehicle without needing any other connections but an FM radio and can charge my phone while it is connected.

I bought this unit as a replacement to an earlier model of the Bracketron FM transmitter. At first, I noticed a big improvement in the clarity of the sound with minimal interference, however as time passed, I’m noticing increasing static and interference from the FM frequency.

I will replace it if the static continues to increase. Otherwise, I like the compact design of all the functions compared to the earlier model.

I have an older version of this that has worked perfectly for a few years for me. As of late, the older version was dying by not being able to get power unless I shimmied/turned it to get power. Bought this newer version thinking it would be as efficient as the last version, but it failed to meet all expectations.

From the first time I connected to bluetooth, the channel I connected to would still have white noise when the old product would connect to the channel and cut out all sound/frequencies. When I tried to connect to a different channel, and it wouldn’t catch the frequency and my radio would skip over the desired frequency.

I figured I would just try the channel I had saved from the previous version of this product and see if it “warmed up” but it would lose the signal slightly and other frequencies would encroach on what I was listening to.

With all said, the charging was great. I didn’t get to test it with a call but with all the problems I was having, it probably wasn’t going to be productive anyways. I just want this to work because I like Anker products, but it doesn’t live to expectations.

This thing is great. It always connects like a champ automatically. It really works well to overpower any signals nearby the station you are using and comes in clean and clear. When you are traveling and a station is right on the chosen station you can easily adjust your broadcast signal.

The best bonus about it is that one of the usb ports can take a thumb drive full of music and play it. It only plays them in order though, so I wrote a script that randomly assigned a name to the track so I had a sudo-random radio station on a 128gb thumb.

It also takes phone calls and the mic on it is pretty decent. Unfortunately it does not seem to broadcast the incoming signal very loud so you have to turn your radio up to hear them and it can be jarring when the call ends and music comes back on.

But that is the only drawback I have found. I have used this for almost a couple years now and it continues to work great.

This device is useful only if you don’t mind background hissing noise and if you’re driving around town, using the same radio stations. I bought it for a 10-hr road trip. One hour into the trip, the station I had originally tuned to no longer worked.

I couldn’t fuss with it because I was driving and it was plugged into the only available power source on my dash, which is under the dash on the passenger side. It would have been a safety hazard to try and re-tune.

I’m fairly certain I would have been better off putting a little bluetooth speaker on the front seat instead of trying to play through my car radio. In terms of customer service, I missed the return window by 4 days and Best Buy kept me hanging on live chat for 10 minutes to eventually tell me that they couldn’t extend the return period for this, even though the 3-month extended holiday return period had started just 7 days after I bought my item.

This adds “boo” to my “hiss”.

The audio is much better than using my phone on speaker but it doesn’t hold its charge and states ‘battery low’ very frequently even when only turned on during a call, negating part of the convenience.

I then had to buy a holder to allow it to be plugged in all the time and it still whinges about the battery!.

This product is in my view the best on the market. Simplicity of use and clarity and clearness during calls, it’s like talking directly through your mobile. Definitely recommend especially now that they have new fines and cameras for mobile phone use while driving.

very easy to use but the volume control leaves a lot to be desired. Sometimes the volume works just fine and sometimes you can turn the volume control and there is no change in the volume. If Plantronics fixed the volume issue this would be a 5 star item.
