I use it to drill metal, with the power it does not play around. The bits don,t sit spinning on the work but are driven into the work faster. Well balanced and controls are easy to use.

perfect hammer drill for the homeowner and great value for the money. The corded model has all the power needed and the chuck key allows a tight no slip bit. I bought the used model but it is like brand new and is missing the stop rod but I always tape the bit to know the correct depth, anyway.

Note: to be on hammer mode is to have switch in position that you see the hammer emblem and not move switch to cover it up.

Purchased this drill specifically to drill through some tubular metal bars on my bed rack and couldn’t be happier. The power difference compared to my smaller handheld drill was amazing and made my project so simple and timeless.

Looking forward to buying more Ryobi tools in the near future!.

I bought this last spring because I was installing a safety fence around a pool. I had started using a competitor’s comparable drill and it just wasn’t getting it done and the chuck kept detaching. After about an hour and very little progress I returned that tool and exchanged it for the Dewalt model.

I made very quick work of my project! I love the drill and will use it for years to come I am sure.

I set machinery into concrete and go through about a hammer drill a year. Most common holes I drill are 1/2″ to 3/4″ by 6″ deep (through slab). Though reconditioned, works as great as any new drill I’ve ever bought, and better than many new ones of equal amps (I won’t mention any names).

For 1/3 the price, you can’t beat it on value. This drill is compact enough such that I am using it for more things I usea 1/2″ bit shaft for (hole sawing). Came with drill and chuck key only, but since I’ve gone through so many drills over the years I have plenty of cases and accessories that fit it.

(Ain’t it funny how the cases always outlast the tool?). Called a single speed, but that means gearbox. It’s a variable speed motor with only one range.

The drill itself is great, powerful, light for the horsepower and the hammer function eases it’s way through concrete. The case is perfect too. Holds the drill fine of course but also has extra room for bits, adapters, cords and fasteners.

Urganomically designed with the professional in mind. Highly recommended this drill for anyone. The price is great too. The only drawback for me is that it is not made in America, too bad.

Great drill for the price, I’d recommend to anyone. The only caveat is that the 3/4″ Makita drill name is really a little misleading. Normally drills are named based upon their overall drill shank capacity.

This would lead you to believe that this drill would accommodate a 3/4″ drill shank. Nope, but then again I pretty much assumed by the picture that this was a 1/2″ drill. A great deal none the less but a little confusing if you think it will receive a larger shank bit!.

This is really a nice drill and seems like the perfect replacement for my old Metabo drill. Solid construction and good control of drill speed. Cannot go wrong with this drill.

This drill arrived to me with the chuck and the attached grease covered shaft falling out when tipped over. Someone forgot to fully reassemble after refurbing at the factory. Seems a snap ring was missed somewhere along the process.

Disappointing now that I have to go and pay full retail in order to complete my current project. Really soured on the whole refurb purchase program and will likey not buy again. Didn’t get much sympathy or concern from customer service when I called to return it either.

Acted as though this must be a common issue (returning refurbs). At least they didn’t hassle me about it I guess.

Exactly as described and as a bonus comes with a set of accessories. A straightforward drill with simple controls. Can use as a screwdriver, hammer drill or ordinary drill using very easy controls. First impressions are that it is a quality drill with a fair bit of power.

I didnt buy a drill here but this kind at a pawnshop and I can tell you what this thing is one of the best drills Ive owned spins super quick and has power to the veritable speed lock is sweet to Id recommend to anyone.

Very good tool, for drilling purpose it is excellent. Drilling holes in concrete was a peace of cake. Where I find it relatively tricky to use this drill is when mixing concrete mix in a bucket. You simply cannot control the speed of the drill since relatively light push easily push the drill to the maximum speed.

As a result of that, the drill will try to go with the maximum speed and it will cause over heating and you may experience to see a smoke coming out of it. Am I happy with the purchase of this drill: Yes, definitely.

Purchased this hammer drill 3 years ago at Home Depot to anchor the ledger for my deck build. Used it to drill 8 holes for Tapcon fasteners, and it worked great. Put it away – still looked like new. Used it yesterday to try to drill 6 3/8″ holes in older concrete, using a new carbide concrete hammer drill bit.

It puked on hole 5. just went dead. It was warm. but I was pausing; running it under no load to cool it. And it just. stopped. Still looks like new.

Compact, sturdy and powerful. Drill and chuck are of high quality and run smoothly, vibration free as expected. A little heavy in the hand but this is a reflection of the expected higher specification build quality.

I like how rugged and well built it feels in the hand it is a heavy unit but I am going to buy another one. because it feels so well built. And it is made in Japan.

The chuck gave me endless grief. It has to be tight but then it would not release. Plastic outer shell broke when trying to release it in a vice. Very poor flimsy plastic chuck design. Resolved the problem by replacing the chuck with an all metal chuck that requires a key which is readily available from Makita as a spare part.

Since replacing the chuck this has been a fabulous drill. It has far more power and torque than any battery drill. I have used it frequently for hammering 3/4 inch and 1 inch holes in concrete. Rating with original chuck is 1 star, rating with replacement keyed chuck is 5 star.

I purchased this hammer drill as a companion to my 7. 5 amp model. The 8. 5 amp model has a much stronger gear box, which does not heat up like the 7. 5 amp model. Thus, I am able to use this 8. 5 amp model longer and for heavier duty projects.

this is a big honking drill: I use it for a everything from mixing mortar , drilling big honking holes and hammering holes in cement. the geared chuck is very accurate and true and you can drill small acurate holes in anything with the high speed.

It will run a big mortar mixing paddle at very low speeds and it does not even get warm, outstanding drill so far.

We’ve had one of these for many years and when it finally breathed its last we were keen to replace it with the same. When you need power without overheating this is great and no batteries to run out.

Have used it daily since purchasing. Finishing off a room in basement. Only 2 things that bother me. A) the chuck has rough spots and when using small drill bits the chuck can be difficult to turn by hand.

B) the chuck wrench fits into a “holder” that is permanently fastened to the cord just at the bottom of the hand grip of the drill. It’s already getting pretty worn and won’t last much longer. I’m sure I’ll end up using a heavy duty rubber band to affix it to the cord at a more convenient spot.

Placing the holder where it is and having no ability to move it somewhere else on the cord is poor thinking. Keep watch on it. If it fell out of this “holder” while you were unaware, you could lose it and not know that it’s gone.

That said, I imagine the roughness in the chuck while smooth out over some time-use and my rubber band solution will work just fine – a bit annoying but fine.

I needed a hammer drill for a one-time job, drilling a half dozen holes into stone and ceramic tile. With 4. 5A, it took about 5 minutes to drill through the stone and 10 to drill through the tile. A beefier drill would probably have gone much quicker, but for $20 it was worth the time.

Overall, this is a $20 tool. The auxiliary handle is a bit flimsy; you can’t push on it very hard, as the plastic collar holding it on bends forward and doesn’t give you any real stability. It’s comfortable enough to hold, the ‘drill’ function works fine.

The switch to go from hammer to drill is right on top, easy to use. If you need a hammer drill for a specific project and then you’re done with it, this is a good buy.

needed a hammer drill to install some exterior lighting on a brick façade and didnt have my hammer drill with me. Harbor Freight was closer than my shop so to save more than an hour of windshield time I chose HF.

The hammer drill worked but the motor smelled hot almost immediately. I dont know if it would have had the oomph to hammer through anything much more than brick, mortar or soft stone. Since it smelled hot turning a masonry bit in brick I assume torque wouldn’t be great when using it as a drill.

Its now in a drawer in my shop and I haven’t used it since. Gave it 3 stars instead of 2 because its so low cost. For a one time use or very light duty residential work it will get you by without breaking the bank.

This Hammer drill seems to do the job for around the house projects very well. I live on a small farm and there is always something to use this for. It was a nice addition to my tool cabinet for the small to medium size concrete/masonary drilling and anchoring.

This drill feels good in the hands and is versitle. It comes with a nice case to store all the appropriate size bits with it so everything stays together. The only thing I could say would be wrong is the chuck key holder is just not getting it done.

This is a great (and powerful) drill. Nice to have the dual speed which means high torque for big hole saws. Hold on to those hand grips! I don’t bother with hard cases (just a waste of space to me) so I can’t review that.

Chuck key is easily removed and replaced but I would rather it be better secured to the cord to prevent me from misplacing it. Hammer operation seems to work well but as expected, doesn’t do as well as a real hammer drill (roto-hammer or equivalent).

Tool is heavy but that is expected with such power. Variable speed is nice and smooth and the full power reverse is nice to have. Direction switch located on both sides of the housing near the back of the tool is unconventional (to me at least) but it functions well and seems to be just fine.

Reconditioned Bosch tools are great quality and a wonderful savings on new tools and their drills are superior.

Needing a chuck-key to change bits is rather old-fashioned. This drill would be ideal if it had a keyless chuck, but aside form that it is fine. The speed of the drill is pressure sensitive depending on how hard you press the trigger, there is also a dial to adjust the max speed when trigger is fully depressed but I have only used it on the lowest setting which is fast enough.

Corded drills are best because recharging is a pain, so this drill excels there. Switching between hammer and no hammer is not very clear but I finally got the setting right I think. This is a good drill to have as a starter or a back-up spare.

I may buy a better drill at some point, a keyless one, if I can get around to it, but probably I will just use this one forever.

My trusty old previous drill burnt out after 8 reliable good working years. So this one has a lot to live up to. I found this one on e-bay that was the closest to my old faithful, same wattage, same look, same speed and speed controller trigger, in fact when I received it , it looked identical to my old faithful except for colour and name.

Lets hope it lives up to its original lookalike. Good shape, comfy grip and effective speed controller trigger.

Case appears quite sturdy and drill bits are very handy, held within the case. Drill has a really powerful feel after using my battery drill for a couple of months. The hammer was really good. My only criticism is the drill is very heavy.

Would not recommend for someone who is not strong enough to keep it steady.

Well made, has a quality robust feel to it, good powerful motor,comes with a very handy hard case and a reasonable length power cord. Overall a very good drill for the money. Would defy recommend.

Well built drill and powerful with loads of features. It’s a bargain for the money, feels quality built. It has a conventional chuck with a key but that’s better in my eyes, it stops the drill bit from coming loose unlike the hand tightened chuck.

The only negative I can say is, it’s quite heavy to hold but that’s because parts of the drill are made of metal. Yes would recomend.

This item is what I expect from Bosch. Most of my hand tools are Bosch and for me, Mitre 10 represent Bosch extremely well. Thank you Bosch and Mitre 10. 🙂

I’ve had a cordless drill for a while and the convenience is unquestionable. But when you need power without stopping waiting for a battery then you need a good corded drill, and this is a great one!
