20 Best Hair Serums For Curly Hair (2023 Updated)

I have been using this hair serum for so many years and this is my favorite product ever. It controls my hair frizz, detangles, and makes them smooth and straight. I like the bottle design, simple yet elegant.

The fragrance is so nice, however, it lingers around for only a few seconds. The texture is not too thin and nor thick just the right consistency, after application, it never leaves the sticky feeling in your hands.

This is my most favorite hair serum ever. Highly recommended.

Well for starters I’m a guy with long thick hair. I somehow stumbled upon this stuff back in high school. I don’t remember how or where I got it from nor why I decided to put it in my hair but the results blew me away.

I put a small amount into my wet hair after a shower, used a blow dryer, and my hair came out perfectly straight each and every time. Today I finally remembered the name of this product and which one I had back in the 90s and am going buy some right after this comment.

For my hair is much much longer now and still as bushy. This stuff is magical. People literally ask me if I got a perm or something when I use this stuff bc of how much it changes my hair. My hair is down almost to my butt.

Let’s see if this stuff still has that magic I remember.

Let me start by saying I love , I love , I love this product. I love the texture and the smell of this serum. It does not grease my hair at all after applying and definitely reduces all the frizz. My hair goes really fresh looking , healthy and manageable.

I also use this serum as a heat protection as it does protect my hair from heat and humidity. It has kept my hair smooth for days and isn’t that the best ? I had read a lot of reviews on this product and I wanted to try it for my own.

And this product is real. It soothes your hair , no grease , porte ya from heat and humidity. It’s just perfect ❣️.

I want to start by saying that this was given to me free in order to sample and review. When I agreed to this arrangement I was unaware that this company is affiliated with a problematic celebrity, who directs women towards unsafe health practices to line her pockets.

It is my fault because I did not research before agreeing so therefore I will review this product without considering the company or it’s affiliates. First impressions are odd, this oil is completely scentless in the bottle.

I use a lot of hair oils and have never come across one that was completely scentless. I had a stem cell transplant in July of 2020 as a cancer treatment which means that I have very short hair. I like to pretend it’s a shorter version of Farrah Fawcett’s hair, but realistically it’s more of a mullet.

Using Castor oils I’ve been able to accelerate my hair growth so luckily I won’t have to have my mullet for long. The instructions tell you to use 2. 5 droppers full of oil, but even with my short hair I had to use 3 in order to fully cover everything.

I worry that those with normal length hair may have to use half a bottle for complete coverage. Once the oil is on your hair there is a slight scent, a citrusy scent, so that’s nice but it is still very faint.

I always shampoo twice so I had no issues getting the oil out of my hair and following the instructions used my typical conditioner after shampooing. Typical hair oils leave my hair very soft, very shiny, and sometimes very fluffy.

This oil didn’t seem to have any effect on my hair. Yes, my hair was soft and a little shiny but that is due to my typical conditioner as it is very moisturizing. Just in case the effects didn’t need to build up, I tried the oil three times.

I didn’t see effects any of those times. I’m sure it helped a little but there was not even as much noticable change as there is with hair oils that cost me $1/oz. For ~$50/oz I would expect a lot more from this oil.

I didn’t hate it but wouldn’t buy it either.

I must say that I am very disappointed in this product; especially since I was so excited to try it. I have never used a Goop product before now, and it definitely was a let down compared to my expectations of it.

With that said, I did not do something I know that I should have done which is take before and after photos! I sell beauty and wellness products, and one of the biggest things I know to be true is that a lot of times products we think are not working are actually doing far better than we perceive them to be.

I will take some in the future and hopefully be able to change this review, but as of right now I don’t see or feel a difference really at all that I can tell. I have very fine wavy hair(albeit my hair has tripled in volume since taking Beautu Focus Collagen+), and I used WAY MORE OF THE PRODUCT THAN INSTRUCTED THE FIRST USE AND SAW NO REAL DIFFERENCE.

I will say that I am sure this product is worth trying and just remember to ALWAYS TAKE A WELL LIT BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTO before using any product where you want to visibly see results. Make sure it’s natural light and in the exact same lighting and space to be able to compare equally.

Do not edit before and after photos ever! Make sure it’s genuine and truly your results and continue to do so over time as well. I will continue to use this product and I will probably purchase this product to be able to truly see if there’s a significant difference or not.

It’s just not one that I have seen thus far. I am hopeful that once I take pics I will notice a huge difference.

I recently received this at BH’s in-house Natural Beauty Event & I will admit I was a tad skeptical as to whether it would work for me (for reasons I’ll mention below), but to my surprise this stuff actually works! For context, I have fine-but-lots-of-it coloured hair that is of low porosity, meaning that hair products have a tendency to sit on the surface without actually penetrating deep into the hair shaft.

I have also undergone bleaching a few times in the past, which we all know does real damage to one’s hair. I’m not entirely sure what kind of magic is in this, but having used this almost every night for the past week & a half (the bottle states that this should be used at night only & “as often as desired”), I can tell you that the lengths & ends of my hair already feel smoother & softer thanks to this miracle worker (although the jury is still out re: whether it will help on the split ends front).

I even felt the difference in my hair the 1 night I chose not to use it – woke up with ends that felt about as dry as they had prior to using this. Another thing I like about this product is that it is a serum & not a heavy one at that, despite containing several oils (including avocado oil) as top ingredients.

I find that although it makes my hair look a wee bit stringy when I first apply it (common problem I have with oilier products), once I wake up the next morning that stringy look has disappeared. It’s also easy to pump out of the bottle as well.

You don’t need too much either, although you will need to experiment to see just how much you need for your own hair (3 pumps is enough for me). I’m pretty fussy when it comes to beauty products in general & it can take a bit to wow me, so the fact that this hair serum has done that & is something I would consider buying with my own money once I’ve finished is a marvel, so thank you not only to Beautyheaven for giving me the opportunity to try this but also to Aveda for creating a great product! (Although I hope I don’t go through this TOO quickly!).

This was received at the Natural Beauty Month event. Aveda is a brand that has been around for many years and is a pioneer in hair care technology and so the expectation of this product to perform miracles was great and it did not disappoint.

The product is packaged within a beautiful green bottle with a pump, allowing for a measured dose which is great as you only need a small amount of product. The product in itself is a non greasy light cream like texture with a subtle odour and is to be applied on the mid to ends region of the hair, gently patted or massaged in and left overnight.

I was a little worried that it would leave a stain on my white bed covers and sheets, but it did not. The product is a leave in treatment and does not need to be washed out prior to styling, making it suitable for time poor individuals.

I have permanent straightening done on my hair a few times a year and whilst this is better than ironing it a few times a week, there is still some degree of damage to the hair. Regular use of this product has improved the appearance of the split ends and my hair feels stronger, softer and looks shinier.

The formula contains plant based ingredients, great for the ethical and sustainable area of hair care, as well as bond building ingredients, all of which protect the hair from future damage by forming a layer over the hair as well as strengthening the core of the hair to make it stronger.

Macro green botanical blend of oils nourishes the hair and promotes repair. The hero ingredient is the Nangai oil which seals together the split ends resulting in overnight results. As you only need a little of this product, the bottle will last a really long time making in great value for money.

This will be added to my hair care routine.

I like this a lot and it’s high quality ingredients are reassuring while I sleep on them during the night. I’m a fan of a good hair serum and this is a good one. The dose squirts out of the pump top to be just the right amount for my entire lengths and ends (I don’t need much because though I have long hair, it is fine and I don’t want to put too much in).

After squirting a dose into my hand I rub it around both palms and then wipe it through my lengths and ends. It smells very herbal which I like. It’s simple to use and I like that Aveda has matching colour co-ordinated ranges – this one being in a lovely deep green colour.

This does make my hair feel healthier and more resilient by the morning. I don’t tend to want to add more effort into my night time routine for hair or skin so I suppose that’s why I gave it a four star.

I prefer to just use a product as I need and not have to wait until morning, but nevertheless, it is a gorgeous quality hair product with natural ingredients. It works well but I don’t really want to have to add more things to your night time routine – you may be like me and not really think of doing this too often before bedtime (which is when it needs to be applied).

The scent is really lovely to sleep with and it does tend to linger after application too. It’s a white serum that spreads easily throughout the hair. It’s not oily which is great for a bedtime serum.

I do wish I didn’t have to use it just before bed time though as I tend to often be too sleepy to bother with something to remember to do before I nod off. Maybe I’m just too lazy when I’m sleepy at night to remember to worry about doing something good for my hair for the next day’s benefit, but if you are not then maybe this product is perfect for you.

It works really well, that is for sure, and my hair feels great for using it! It feels healthy and the ends feel and look better too. The pump top is a very high quality pump top that emits a measured dose.

I have fine to normal, virgin dirty blonde to light brunette hair. My hair tends to be super frizzy and my baby hair has a mind of its own. I purchased the Hydraglow shampoo and conditioner and I’m having an amazing experience with the two products after a few weeks of using it, but I needed just a little bit more help with my hair’s frizziness issue.

After taking Brad’s hair quiz, the quiz recommended me to use Viper Smoothing oil to help with the friziness a little bit more. I use this after my shower when my hair is still damp. I normally air-dry my hair since I, admittedly am too lazy to blow dry my hair.

But after using this product, I noticed a huge difference in my hair. I’ve been looking for something like this for the longest time to help my hair and Brad is like the fairy godmother that I need and he heard my wishes and gave me exactly what I need for my hair! My hair has really calmed down from the frizziness.

I use the viper smoothing oil on days where there’s a lot of humidity outside, or for when my hair just decides to not cooperate with me. When my hair is dry, I can’t stop touching my hair and feel how soft and smooth it is! Using Brad’s hair products have gotten me excited about styling my hair and doing cute things with my hair again.

I have been using the serum for two years! A 15 ounce bottle last me almost the entire year so it’s a great value. I really like the smell, it’s unique, I think it might be from the caper blossom.

The smell does disappear after a few minutes but the super softness stays all day! This serum makes my hair so soft and it is pretty weightless so I can’t tell it’s even in. It’s also a really great detangler.

Highly recommend for anyone with straight, semi fine hair.

As much as I love their products, I haven’t found one product that would smell at least decent 😷, this one smells like lemon + vinegar to me. ⠀ The texture is quite weird, not as thick as cream, but thicker than water, but it looks like the spray and it spits the serum out rather than giving you an even mist.

I prefer to open it and pour some of it on my hand and then spread through the ends of my hair. It did last me quite long time. ⠀ I can’t say I’m in love with it, but I can’t say it’s a bad product, maybe it was not made for my hair.

On the video, in the end, you can see how it looks after I’ve used shampoo, mask and this serum. Maybe it doesn’t look so bad but in real life, my hair felt very dry, tangled and porous. ⠀ This serum was made for coloured hair and I assume that’s why I couldn’t enjoy it so much, as you can see, it does give you the time, but the shine isn’t enough for me.

Absolutely love this product. We use this brand in the salon I work at, fox and the hair salon and I use this on absolutely every single client. Spray on wet hair and immediate blow dry for a much easier brush out.

Works as a great detangler, leave in conditioner, heat protectant and color enhancer!!!! Smells amazing as well. Def don’t need to use too too much as it will leave a small amount of “soapiness” in the hair.

Few squirts and you’re good to go :).

I have been using ‘Surface Curl’ for dry hair for awhile. It moistens my hair and makes it soft and shiny. It only takes a few drops, or too oily. I use it in my grand-daughter’s hair to reduce the tangling kids with LONG hair tend to get.

;0) When I go to visit my family, their water is different and often dries my hair out. When I discovered ‘Surface Curl’ I was delighted. Now I keep it in my linen and first aid closet. ;0).

This serum is silky feeling and creates a beautiful shine. I have fine, curly short silver hair. I need to be careful not to put too much on, otherwise it weighs my hair down. But the shine is perfect.

I like the smell very much- this entire line that I have tried so far smells divine. The product can be used on wet or dry hair which I like as some days or in the middle of the day, I just want a little sheen to my dry hair which is slowly bouncing back after suffering through a very dry spell with hair loss.

It has a decent sheen- not too oily a look on its own. I can’t really tell if it helping my hair in any other way as I am also using hair oils pre-shampoo. I will continue to use and may purchase again when it runs out, though it seems like it will last quite a while- I don’t need to use much.

Love it! I at first wasn’t very sure how I would feel about this particular product but was excited to give it a chance. It smells nice and makes my hair feels silky and smooth. It’s not over powering at all and doesn’t leave a weird greasy film or feeling! That’s huge in my opinion.

I noticed that it helped a lot around the crown of my head which is my most problem area with frizz and flyaways. My ends also don’t feel as crunchy thank gosh because I wasn’t sure what I could do in that area besides cut more hair and I don’t want to do that.

The bottle is gorgeous and sleek and the colors and weight is luxurious in my opinion! I’ll be trying this on my child’s hair too to see if it will help. She wear a riding helmet and it does damage to her hair and causes frizzing.

I’m looking forward to continuing the regiment. It’s super duper easy to apply and use and honestly a little goes a long way so you will be getting a lot of uses out of this bottle. I like that this product in particular isn’t sticky like a few others I have tried and I feel like it also is less messy which is super helpful! I was lucky to review this for free and I already know I’ll be buying another to have on hand once this one is gone.

I’ll probably buy one for my mom too to try since she also has frizz and puffiness. Again a benefit is price and ease of use and lack of a huge mess. That’s a big deal to me! I have photos but it’s not letting me load them unfortunately but the product looks exactly as it does as you see online.

I would definitely buy this product and some other things in this line for my weekly routine!.

I have seen many negative reviews of this product and I’m truly surprised. I received a bottle free to provide my honest opinion of the product. My daughter (21) and I have used this for a month now, and we LOVE it.

A little goes a long way. Just a small amount on the lengths of the hair, not in the scalp or near the scalp provides the best results. Brush the product thru your hair well and leave it until the next morning We have tried it multiple ways and this works the Best.

If you use too much or get it on the top of your head it will make your hair look greasy. We had no problems with the smell, it is pleasant. My hair is dry, curly and frizzes easily and what I noticed is even on a humid day, my friziziness was improved 65%.

That’s a huge win to me! My hair is softer, shinier, no bed head tangles with mid length hair. My daughter has the same hair issues as I do but two cowlicks right in the front of her head that drive her nuts and hair down to her rear.

She saw an improvement in manageability, 70% improvement in frizz, nice shine and easy to brush in the morning. I recommend this product highly, the key is not using to much!! A little goes a loooong way.

I was worried about using something like this, especially as a leave-in treatment, as my hair is fine and I used to have a lot of it, but recently suffered stress-related hair loss. Just prior to that, my hair was in need of attention as it had been dyed for years so was getting drier and then hadn’t had the nourishment of a professional colour while salons were closed during numerous Covid lockdowns.

My hair ended up looking very frizzy, even after I would wash and blow dry it and I didn’t want to exacerbate the problem with more hear, straighteners etc. This was a life saver. I worried it would look or feel greasy, but it really didn’t – although you probably need to take care not to overload, especially if your hair can already get greasy quickly.

Mine drank it up. At first I only used it at night in case it did look greasy by morning and needed washing, but it was usually fine. Now, despite dealing with the hair loss issue and my hair having loss a fair amount of fullness, I can use it overnight or still apply a smaller amount in the morning to tame flyaways etc.

The hair loss has thankfully stopped, but will take time for regrowth – in the meantime, I’m going to focus on the condition of my hair and use this a little more often. A little does go a long way and I personally adore the scent (as does my partner actually), although it is strong and lingers, so be aware of that if you have an issue with fragrance.

Well…. I have had the Curlmix watermelon kit for a few months, but have only used three times because I am still learning the process. Coach Jai has been the most helpful because I have low porosity hair and she explained a clearer process.

Third time was ALMOST the charm …. Getting better. Will try WNG twice a week to get hair used to saturation. Still getting some crunch after drying under hooded dryer. Still trying to figure out refresh.

Overall, I’m satisfied with the product … Just need to stick with the process.

Was in the market for a silicone free serum and boy are these hard to find! I use this for separating and breaking the hard cast after the gel dries and loved it! Before I had been using olive or cocunut oil but this is so much better.

Plus with the added benefits of helping with hair growth! Only note I would give is maybe make one that doesn’t have any scent? Or milder one because even though I like the watermelon scent it can be a little strong sometimes, and before I got used to it it kind of gave me a headache.

But that’s just me. After I got used to the smell it didn’t happen again but it can definitely be a little overwhelming.

I’ve been doing wash n go for years. Didn’t know that was what it was called. I love the way it makes my hair feel during the wash all the way thru the gel. I had not used gel for years. I did use the blow dryer but even when my hair is air dried which I have always done it looks beautiful 🙂 I used the lavender because my hair has always had a dryness and I used the berry-vanilla because my hair is on the finer side and I wanted to build up more strength.

I have very frizzy hair that under normal conditions I have to use LOTS of heat styling to get it to stop frizzing. With this stuff, I can do a basic blow dry (or even air dry) and it tames most all the end frizzies for me.

I do a small amount after a washing/towel dry and see a definite improvement. I have a feeling those with more talents in the styling area than me – I’m not an expert on hair styling at all – would be able to get glassy smooth hair using this as part of their routine, but I’m just happy not to have to do much work to get my hair to stop looking like I stuck a fork in an electical socket.

This is a nice product that works well.

For soooo long I was searching for a product that would control my frizzy hair in the florida humidity i live in and i tried a various amount of things, ranging from amazon reviewed products to very high end products (spending $50 at a time just trying to tame this mane) i promise you i looked like Hagrid when the humidity and frizz got to my hair, the moment i stepped out the house my hair was going into a ponytail.

I stumbled across this product on a grocery run and the shelf looked empty which sometimes mean the product sells well (or they don’t restock LOL, pick ur poison) and this serum has worked wonders for my 2a THICK wavy hair, it really does keep the frizz at bay!!! so thankful i found a product that keeps me looking sane for such a small price point.

I’ve used a lot of anti frizz products. I have very fine, curly hair and have no natural moisture so it frizzes your bad. I need to use an anti frizz almost every day. This stuff is the real deal. It’s a nice thing serum that will define your curls and gets rid of frizz.

Also one bottle lasts a very long time as you only Need a smalll amount to make a big difference. I mix mine with gel for extra hold. Great product and great value for the money.

Let me be 100% honest here, I’ve been using this serum for a while. I was gifted another bottle for this review, but I can speak to it far greater than a first impression. This serum, and line as a whole, works! I’ve noticed incredible improvements to my split ends over the course of multiple bottles of this product.

Like all things, you have to commit to using it. You won’t see changes unless you use it consistently. There isn’t an insane scent and the texture is quite smooth. My hair is fine but I have a lot of it.

I received the Split End Serum complimentary from Virtue in exchange for my honest review. Right off the bat, I appreciated that this product doesn’t smell strong or chemical like a lot of other hair products I’ve tried.

The texture is thick-ish, like lotion consistency. I used a little more than recommended because I have very long hair. While I haven’t actually seen a difference in my real split ends, it does help quite a bit with frizz and fly-aways.

Since I live in a place with lots of humidity (Florida), these issues can be a major problem, but this serum really helped keep my hair where I wanted it to be. I look forward to seeing the improvements in my hair as I make my way through the bottle!.

This is my favorite product I’ve tried so far from Virtue. I feel like it’s a very versatile product. I put it on 3/4 if my hair just not roots for heat protection and also does make my ends look less frayed and pointing g every which way.

I don’t have a lot of hair so I do not need very much. Makes me feel like I can have a little flexibility in how much heat I use. It especially makes the bleached parts of my hair look less damaged. I’m really loving this serum.

I want to love this but I don’t. I want to give this a better review but I honestly can’t. It’s an ok product. Wasn’t too greasy. Little bit goes a long way as with any hair oils. But I just can’t get over the artificial pina colada smells.

Smells just like the tree shaped car air fresheners with a coconut/tropical smell. Will I use it? Eventually yes. But it’s now a backup hair oil for when my other brand is being reordered/need to get more.

Just wish the description said what the scent was instead of fragrance(ordered online).

AMAZING I don’t normally take the time to write reviews but- I finally spent the money on this and I’ll never go back. I wear hair extensions that bolt to my hair, I can’t take them out. They become unbearably dry if I don’t use hair oil daily.

Omg this product. Smells amazing. It’s coconutty Leaves no greasy residue. At all. A lot of other products made my hair look visibly greasy. Silky results. No dry brittle feeling at all. Absorbs quickly into hair.

This stuff is the real deal. The MVP of all hair serums. I randomly picked this off a shelf at Target one day when I was in a rush and my hair has been thanking me for it ever since. It doesn’t really have a fragrance, which kind of bums me out personally because I love when my hair smells and the breeze hits it and you get a whiff of it 🤣.

I pair this with the Eva NYC Mane Magic Primer and let my hair air dry over night. It makes my hair amazingly soft, no frizz and just the slightest bit of a textured wave. I have thick, dark brown hair that does get oily but guess what… since using this product and the Eva NYC my oily hair has actually decreased.

Idk if it’s because of the products or something else but I’m thrilled. I would repurchase again and again and this will be a staple on my vanity.

I am using this since many years. I like the smell and i love it when it makes my hair actually smooth and manageable. This product is cheap and effective. My hair is very frizzy and wavy. This makes my hair very smooth and i can tackle them throughout the day.

Omg what to say about this this is my favorite serum because it leaves a very good coat on ur hair to prevent damage caused by blow dry ironing sunrays it gives to tangled free hiar after shower or when u want to free from ur tangled hair just a apply a lill it works amazing.

I have used various Frizz ease products in the past, but none worked quite like this. Before purchasing this product, I have used numerous anti-frizz products, from high-end to drugstore quality, without success.

While scrolling through the Target app, I came across this product and decided to try it. When I saw the amount of product that was offered, I was skeptical. But, the serum has a thicker consistency, and a small amount goes a long way.

I have very long hair, and I only needed one pump that I could work into the tips and midsection of my hair without needing more or having leftovers. As someone who only air dries their hair, products are important to keep my hair smooth and controlled.

For the price and seeing the results, this is definitely a product that I have been searching for the past 30 years! I am glad I gave it a try when other products have not been compatible with me in the past.

If I could give this serum 10 stars I would! I am not the type who gets all hyped about leaving a review but I’ve been having the WORST time with my hair recently-so much so that I was considering cutting it all off (it’s nearly 18” long).

I used the serum after my shower, along with some mouse at my scalp for volume, flipped my head upside down and blow dried for less than 5 minutes and a miracle happened. When I flipped up, my strands were magically restored and I could brush through the length of my hair!! I have not been able to do that in a long time-my brush would get stuck and my hair is thin but still managed to get matted/frizzy/knotty.

It was disgusting. But one use with this stuff and seriously, my hope is restored. The frizz is controlled, its shiny, silky smooth and still has some volume. So yes I recommend this serum! Get it!! You will not regret it.

Oh my goodness!!! So. I bought this to protect my hair while I blow dry (that’s the most heat I’m willing to put on it) and this leaves my hair so silky and soft! It smells so good and is soooo moisturizing!!! So I decided to try it in my daughters hair to help moisturize as I detangle ANNNNNDDD LET ME TELL YOU!!! That SLIPPPP Was amazing! Now my daughter is TENDER HEADED.

and she will kick and scream as soon as she feels like I’m THINKING about doing her hair. but this magic in a bottle here. she will sit and let me detangle ( I’ll have to style the next day still.

This oil works great. It’s very moisturizing. I would say the cons to this product is that it’s a very runny, so a little bit goes a long way. I recommend that you squeeze the product into your hand to control the flow.

Also it doesn’t absorb very fast. I put this oil on my son’s hair every day, and I feel like it sits on top of his hair even though we brush it in.

I purchased this product about 2 months ago. I absolutely LOOOOOOOVE the smell. I also love the fact that I don’t have to buy all these different oils and that they’re all wrapped up in this one bottle.

I’m a natural African American woman and I like to know what all the ingredients are when applied to my hair. However, this product didn’t clog my pores so it deserves a 4 in my book.
