A gun vise is primarily used for sighting in firearms. The vise is mounted to a table or other flat surface, and the gun is secured in the vise. This gives the shooter a stable platform from which to shoot, and makes it easier to keep the sights on target.
The gun vise can also be used for cleaning and maintenance, as it provides a good way to keep the gun steady while working on it.

This range rifle vise is so simple and convenient to use. I’ve used others that are way over engineered. This one has just what you need to rest your rifle while you work on it. Nice rubber bumpers and rifle v-grips wont let anything slip.
Folds nice and compact for the range. Installed scopes on two rifles with this and it worked perfectly. Slides open for longer rifles or that “just right” fit.
Sturdy, light and easy to throw in range bag. Not a high end vise, but knew that when I bought it. Was looking for inexpensive rest to work on rifles and could not have found a better option. Definitely recommend.
I bought this “range vise” because I wanted something I could use to clean my guns at the end of the day when I’m camping at 2 or 3 day Cowboy Action Shooting Events. I like the way it folds up for packing along.
It works good for the Sharps, and the shotgun, but it won’t hold a lever action rifle with the lever open. You have to get creative and put it in the cradle sideways. It likes the fatter stocks of non-cowboy guns, like modern bolt actions, vintage military rifles, and it holds an AR-15 pretty good.
It has rubber feet that keep it from sliding across my smooth work table when I’m using it at home. Overall I’m happy with it and would buy another one if I had to.
The Tipton Compact Range Vise offers a completely new level of performance” securely holding the widest array of guns possible while collapsing to fit in a range bag. The compact design is a convenient solution to gun cleaning at the range.

Serious shooters know keeping their guns clean is essential to performance” making the Compact Range Vise the perfect range accessory.
I needed something that I could use in a small space for scope mounting and bore cleaning that could be stored easily. This is perfect. Just fold it up after use and it takes up less space than some books on the shelf.
Built on the trust of the trades, you need tools designed for experts and built to last. This vise is built to accommodate all your rugged jobsite needs by clamping work pieces easily and securely with an ideal pipe capacity of 1/8 in.
to 6 in. This chain vise features a leg chain that retains legs even when subjected to rugged use as well as a durable tool tray made especially for tough and demanding jobs to offer reliable strength and superior stability.
Ergonomically designed, the pipe vise is constructed with an optimized base structure that overhangs the front legs for a clear tool swing and maximizes your working area for additional space while working around the pipe.
Additionally, it features integral folding legs and three tool hangers for easy and convenient portability and set-up as well as an integrated ground lug for a conductive surface to connect the weld ground.
The self-hooking for 4 in. pipe conveniently eliminates the need to use a second hand to engage the chain into the wear plate. RIDGID – Built For Those Who Know.
As a retired union pipefitter having used Rigid Tristand vises for many years, I can honestly say there is a reason these are on every union job. They are sturdy, extremely long lasting and a fabricators best friend.
You either have one or you need one. I just had to have one for my own personal use. Don’t settle for anything but a Rigid, they’re the best!!!.
I started out with a really old, used model 460 many years ago. Even though it looked like it had been through a war, it worked perfectly. Eventually I treated myself to a brand new one, and later added the model 425.
These purchases were great investments. The Ridgid Tristands are super durable, super heavy duty made and just a pleasure to use. I’ve never had a single problem with any of my tristands. One time during a pretty bad construction accident, my 425 got shoved around and was buried.
When it was finally recovered it just had some scratches and had lost 2 of its rubber feet. I called Ridgid and they sent me a pack of the feet for free.
Great product, assisting with precision pipe and rod cutting. I was told by my plumbing teachers that I didn’t need one for apprenticeship work, in which case, the purchase of this product was a mistake.
Portability. The integral handle makes transporting easy. It allows for opening and closing the unit in one simple motion. Lightweight Design At only 30lbs, the model 425 is over 25 percent lighter than its 6in counterpart.
Stability The exclusive bent leg design increases stability. Self-Locking Latch latch automatically engages when closing the stand. This added convenience eliminates the need for a leg chain. Compact Work Surface Ideal for pipe applications ranging in size from 1/8 2 inches.
The work surface is equipped with two tool holders. The compact size makes it ideal to store in service trucks.
Plumbers know the Ridgid name. We know that you are going to get a quality product. This chain vise stand is a quality product. It is small. It only goes up to 2 1/2 in pipe. It’s great for small jobs.
If you’re only cutting a couple piece of pipe, or are doing some prefab, this vise will be handy. It’s relatively light weight, is easy to carry, with it’s leg lock and handle, and stores easily. I choose this model because I felt it would fit best in the small van that I’m currently driving.
If you’re one of the people out there doing service type work, perhaps in a small vehicle, and are in need of a pipe vise, I recommend this Ridgid Tristand chain vise stand.
I’ve had this vise for a little over a year now, the angle adjustment slips sometimes and the nuts at the tensioner lever fall off a lot. It’s a bit hard to actually get your hook securely placed in the vise sometimes.
I chipped off the corner of one of the jaws on a size 18 midge hook. I honestly would not recommend this vise.
I bought this vise because I needed a rotary vise for more versatility fly tying. It is AWESOME. 3 tips, portable, well made, and is a great beginners vise or as a travel vise for those nights back in camp where you need to tie a few “lost to treefish/fish ripped it apart” flys.
I bought this and the deluxe tool kit (also came with a vise) to make a traveling tying kit. I replaced the vise in the deluxe kit with this one, as it is much better for streamers and big flies. This is not a high tech tying solution at all, and does not compare to my bench vise, but if you need a compact traveller that can tie a wide array of hook sizes, this is a pretty decent pick up.
The C Clamp is nice and sturdy for a vise this cheap, but I think you will get the best out of it if you add a pedestal. It ain’t pretty, but it will get the job done when away from the comforts of your home bench.
I rated it average since I had to add adhesive to some of the screw caps to keep them from coming off. The 2 extra jaws are a nice touch, I use the “heavy wire” the most, but don’t lose the pin that screws them in place, the two extras provided are too short.
Fits a standard 2″ hitch and includes a hitch pin for security. Can be mounted on a bench or trailer for even greater versatility with the included mounting bracket. Light weight and with an integrated carrying handle, the ATV is designed for easy transport.
Patented 360Â degree locking handle secures the handle while driving or repositions it while working. The included set screws are designed to provide a tight fit in the hitch and reduce vibration while driving.
Really like fact vise came with mount for work bench. The bolt holes are half inch in that mount. Have used vise on number of projects. Did purchase Wilton’s magnetic jaw cover to protect items. (Chainsaw bars.
) Oversee a cabin for a hiking club, really like fact vise fits in receiver hitch on Gator front or rear, when we might need a vise for work on cabin project. Vise is well made! It is a replacement for heavy Chinese made vise that became impossible to use because screw fouled up, plus one of the swivel parts striped out.
This vise will last long time, great quality, with totally internal drive screw. Look forward to many years use! Handy lift handle well thought out design. Very pleased customer.
We RV extensively during the summer and this is very easy to slip into the pick up bed when we take off. Only used once on the road, to assist another RV’er. Works great in the garage. Have used it to sharpen lawn mower and chain saw blades.
Holds everything in place. Was easy to set up and install. So far, no rust is forming on the product. Would recommend this to anyone who needs something for the road and at home.
It seems to be pretty well made. I read some reviews that mentioned it had some play in it when tightening it down. It worked just fine for me and was very smooth. One review noted it had play when mounted to the hitch.
It had about the same amount of play as when I have my Reese trailer hitch ball mounted so Im satisfied. I think the idea and design to mount at the hitch unit is unique.
The newest vise in the Wilton line-up delivers the clamping force and quality that all Wilton vises are known for. In addition to a precision-machined slide bar and sealed spindle, the Mechanics Pro also incorporates a needle roller thrust bearing under the spindle hub.
This new feature makes generating and releasing greater clamping force easier than ever. Other standard features include a movable jaw and base built from 60,000 PSI ductile iron, hardened steel jaws, 360-degree swivel base with dual lock-downs, and a large anvil surface on the back.
I was very pleasantly surprised, even amazed that I could find no flaws with this product upon examining it after unboxing the item. The paint was perfectly applied – even to the bottom of the base. The machining and castings are flawless and some forethought and consideration went into the design of this vise.
For example, if you turn the vise over (bottom up), you will find a port at the front near the handle for the application of oil to lubricate the screw inside the keyed column or “spindle” that carries the movable jaw of the vise.
The jaws by the way, are very nicely machined with a diamond pattern etched nicely into the surface for good grip. The edges of the jaws are sharp though, and I would go over the edges lightly with an abrasive stone or file so that no one gets cut accidentally.
But this is a minor concern, really. At first I thought that the nut that rides on the screw which drives the jaw back and forth must be a simple affair like you would expect a nut and bolt to look like, but I was wrong on that count too.
The “nut” that rides over the screw inside the spindle of this vise is large and covers a fair portion of the screw itself, and it doesn’t even look like a nut. The design is more sophisticated than I expected of such a simple tool.
We like to say that “you get what you pay for”. Well, when you purchase this vise, you are getting more than your money’s worth in my opinion – definitely a rare occurrence in today’s economy.
I’m a home DIY guy. I’m 65. My whole life I suffered with little $80 vises. I said to myself if you don’t get the a perfect vise now when will you. Well the time is now. I plunked down the $700 and waited for perfection to arrive.
It’s the best vise I ever owned but its not perfect. There are small defects that are irritating but none interfere with its suability, The thing is when you splurge for a $700 vise you expect perfection and this vise isn’t perfect.
That’s why I give it 3 stars rather than 5. The jaws don’t meet perfectly. They are about half a millimeter off. When opened beyond 7″ or so I I feel resistance as the cantilever on the threads exerts force.
There are some strange metal working remnants on the shaft. I blame these small defects on the crappy Chinese manufacturing. None the less I would buy it again and I do sleep a little easier knowing Chinese military equipment is most likely built to the same standards.
Very sturdy, tolerances are good, so far performs as advertised. The first time I struck a can on the anvil to crush it, there was a dent where the hammer head impacted. I tested it with several more strikes, dented to a degree on all of them.
The metal is too soft to be a striking surface. I would not buy this vice again, unless they knocked a 100. 00 off the price.
Keep your materials in place with multi-angle vise from Pana Vise. This tray multi-angle vise has a throat depth of 1-9/16″ and a jaw width of 1-13/16″. The max opening is 9-1/4″. It is made of cast zinc material.
i love this workstation 350! i’m a locksport enthusiast and enjoy making various tricky locks for friends around the world to pick open. the panavise helps me do everything i need from holding the locks while i attempt to pick them open, simulating the job of a door (although we never pick locks in situ!) to holding my drill while i make the weird and wonderful security pins to go inside the locks.
i have the jaws the other way round from the picture, so back to back and the strong winding mechanism coupled with the neoprene jaw covers is strong enough to hold the bow of a key while i file cuts in it and the multi directional head on the vice means that any angle is easily achievable.
the base tray is also very useful, especially if you are dealing with fiddly bits, like pins and springs and you want to keep them apart until you need to. i used it to help me solder something delicate yesterday which needed to remain still during the process which it did with ease and the round bit at the opposite side to the winder doubled as a holder for the iron.
if you need a vice i cannot recommend this enough, i’ve bought several table top vices that have failed for one reason or another, invest a little in one of these, you won’t regret it.
I use this vise for electronics assembly. I have multiple variations of the 350 model from PanaVise that I use daily. I prefer the weighted base option over the parts tray. But, the parts tray base is OK.
I only gave it 4 stars because without generous lube the crank can be hard to turn using only one hand. Not any fault to Summit. It’s the design. However, bolted down to a bench it would turn ok. The 350 is a good little vise and will work for years and the rubber pads are replaceable.
Note: Some assembly is required. You can upgrade the base later if preferred.
I waited far too long to spring for this vise. I use it for a wide variety of projects, from holding PCBs to holding my mini oscilloscope. I use it often for small mechanical assemblies as well. The ability to reverse the soft jaws really helps with odd-shaped PCBs.
I’m tempted to get another one for my machine shop. Excellent for small/awkward assemblies. I purchased an add-on Quad Hands for mine, and I don’t regret it. Excellent combination.
Great ideal but not a great vice. The “screw action” is weak and very hard to use compaired to all vices I have ever owned. I took it apart and packed some grease in it. That helped but its still lackluster at best.
As for the rest of the vice. It seems to be good quality. If you can find a different brand, I would not buy this one. Kust being totaly honest about it.
Just bought this vise, it appears to be well made and is heavy. Also comes with a bench mount so I can mount in on my bench as a bench vise. 2 in 1 deal. Used it this morning and it works well for my needs.
The MTM Gun Vise features a fast, single adjustment clamp down and a secure non-marring hold. The gun forks are positioned high and low giving the option of a level clamp up for maintenance or a sloped clamp up for drainage.
Shotgun barrels are held securely for easy cleaning. Organize your cleaning supplies with the 14 separate compartments, including a small divided tray that slides to uncover more compartments in the base for smaller, easy to lose items.
Eleven screw driver bit holders, molded to the unit, are as easily suited for jags and brushes as they are bits. Made of rugged, chemical and solvent resistant polypropylene plastic.
Decent value for the money. The only ‘issue’ isn’t with the product, but is with my AR’s stock. It needs to have a towel wrapped around it to hold firm enough in the clamp to allow it to be stabilized with the upper separated from the lower securely.
Decent product for general servicing and cleaning. However, you will need to use some cardboard or similar materials in order to shim your rifle butt if you are trying to level your scope, as not all butt profiles will fit perfectly/level in the generically shaped vise jaws whilst clamped.
I’m very happy with this. It holds securely and can clamp with the barrel level or tilted slightly down. Should work well for cleaning and light gun work. Directions for assembly aren’t the clearest, but they’re adequate.
Go easy on the screws, they don’t need to be ultra tight.
Tipton Ultra Gun Vise allows you to use the same vise for rifles and handguns. The vise has a modular chassis design that allows you to move the center assemblies around to meet your needs, and over molded rubber contact pads throughout the device prevent damage to firearm.
The Modular system allows you to clamp components like AR Upper assemblies without needing to have them attached to the lowers. AR Vise Block module is included for working on and cleaning AR-15. Different modules can be quickly moved, rearranged or removed anywhere along the rail.
Dual Clamp Technology rigidly holds any gun shape in place; slide the clamps closer together for short framed rifle or handgun work. Extra wide, up to 26. 5″ of clamping distance. Works with pistols allowing you to mount optics or clean efficiently; it works with break action firearms.
You can clamp the forward/barrel while leaving the rear to swing open. Engineered Glass Filled Nylon construction provides a high level of rigidity while preventing damage to your firearm. Stainless Steel reinforcing plates throughout the design provide reinforcement and rigidity.
Solvent-resistant materials stand up to years of hard use. Ball and socket articulating clamp pads allow for the pads to adapt to any surface, leveling feet on all corners makes scope leveling easier.
Tube frame structure allows for complete access to your rifle and fast turn knobs, for quick clamping. Front and Rear clamps are both height and length adjustable. Includes two removable solvent resistant accessory and tool trays.
I wasn’t necessarily looking to buy a vise but happened to see it on the shelf and decided to buy it. I’m so glad I did! No more laying a towel down on my work bench to work on my long guns or pistols.
This product is also as an excellent rod and reel vise. I used it on my tuna gear and was very happy I was able to use the mutiple adjustmens needed to fit the gear properly. It is very well made and as advertised, works on all types of firearms, bows, and like I said, rods and reels! Here’s the story I like the best! AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! I had a very minor issue with one of the clamps.
The screw down on one of the vises wasn’t working properly. I got on the phone and actually talked to a live person right away. The gentleman I spoke to was kind, courteous, and knowledgeable. I explained to him about the minor problem and took the time to listen.
At the time of the call he didn’t have the replacement part available and would ship me a new one when it came in. As many of us know, we’ve heard this answer many times from other companies and never heard back from them again.
To my surprise, 4 days later, I received a brand new part with an apology from Tipton. UNBELIEVABLE! Anyway, I’m so incredibly happy I have this vise and even more, having a company who really do stand behind their product.
Tipton deserves an A+ for making such an incredible product and customer support! You just don’t see that anymore. If you’re looking for a vise, look no further, this one is a winner, you wont be disappointed.
Despite the shipping error no fault of SG I am very satisfied with my purchase. I shopped around for awhile before finally settling on this one. I’m a fairly big gun enthusiast and have plenty experience with crappy vises.
I see low reviews cause people are trying to use this vise to install barrels, this is definitely not designed for that function, that what a bench mounted vise is for. My only qualm is that upon opening the shipping box the ends of the actual vise box were open and had never been sealed.
Luckily none of the parts had fallen out and everything was there. I’ve used this vise with my ARs, compound bow, shotguns and pistols with not one issue. There are a few YouTube videos out there to address the issue of the towers not staying up.
I made those adjustments and this thing is ROCK SOLID.
Bought this a couple months ago. Looked sturdy and well made until I used the clamping device. Not a fan of most things plastic but the fast acting clamp screws are an inexperienced engineer’s pipe dream.
Having a background in the heavy automotive repair trade I can tell you the only time you don’t require some sort of locking device on threaded fasteners is when they are fine pitch. Place a rifle in this fixture to mount a scope and it becomes extremely tedious.
Clamps constantly come loose due to the fast thread pitch. Thoroughly disappointed in this fixture. Have a gun butler that works fantastically. That’s the reason I ordered this clamp. Never recommend this to anyone, especially considering the price.
The only thing ultimate about this fixture is the steel frame upon which all the plastic junk is mounted.
Tipton’s Best Gun Vise is the Best tool you can own for working on your guns. The vise was designed to accommodate the widest possible array of firearms for cleaning, maintenance, or gunsmithing, and is easily configurable to handle bolt-action rifles, break-open shotguns, rifles, and handguns.
A central aluminum channel lets the user move individual components to the ideal position for their firearm. Each individual component then adjusts to the perfect position for secure support. The rear base features two adjustable offset clamps for a tight grip on a wide range of buttstock configurations.
The innovative Best Gun Vise is extremely stiff and is made from high-quality, solvent-resistant material that will stand up to years of hard use. Product Specifications And Features: Great for extensive cleaning and gunsmithing Excellent for projects and is easily configurable to handle bolt-action rifles, break-open shotguns and handguns.
Highly adjustable design for maximum versatility Non-marring contact surfaces to protect your firearm Rigid, solvent-resistant polymer stands up to years of hard use Innovative, offset clamping mechanism on rear base 32 inches long x 8 inches wide A central aluminum channel lets the user move individual components to the ideal position for their firearm.
Each individual component then adjusts to the perfect position for secure support. The rear base features two adjustable offset clamps for a tight grip on a wide range of buttstock configurations.
My brother has the older version of this vise and while this one is very usable it doesn’t have the rigidity of his and the buttstock clamp on his is more substantial than this one (this one flexes a bit too much for my liking).
I realize that in order to remain competitively priced that manufacturers have to find corners to cut but in this case the clamp area should have been constructed with more rigidity and the base shouldn’t show warp areas from the mold due to reduction of mass.
I also suggest lengthening at least one adjustment bolt for the center support as you need to hold the supplied bolt in place so you can start the threads on the tightening nut. All said, I’ve used it for cleaning my AR, my bolt-action hunting rifle, an auto-loader shotgun and a couple pistols.
With the exception of the short bolt for the center support, it is easy to set up and adjust. I recommend it as a reasonably-priced option for the hobby shooter.
This vise is by far the most versatile gun vises around! The functionality and stability of the vise is second to none. The ability to function as a handgun vise makes it a great option as well. This is also one of the few vises that provides an L-shape center support piece, which allows it to support break open rifles and shotguns for easy cleaning and maintenance.
Actually have already written a review however, I don’t mind reiterating what I have previously said. The Tipton vise comes in a box and requires assembly, if you can tie your shoe laces without your mom’s help, then, you’re golden with this aspect.
This device easily accommodates rifles, shotguns, and pistols. It is made of plastic which does not bother me in the least, the plastic is resistant to gun products but don’t get crazy and start cleaning your weapon with xylene, toluene, or acetone, it’s resistant to gun care products! Tipton’s vise can be bolted to a table for a more permanently stable set-up but it also has 4 rubber pods which for me, held nicely on my dinning room table, yeah, don’t tell my wife, besides, it’s too cold to mess around in my garage shop.
ANYWAY, the vise has polyurethane rubber pads everywhere your prized riffle, shotgun, or pistol may need to rest, sit, or be held, thus, no concerns with marring your beloved wood stocks, grips, and new or newly finished metal, or just because you meticulously anal about your weapon like me.
The vise has an easily buttstock clamp which is screwed into place with two large black knobs, which there are 5-6 on this device making adjustments a breeze. The rails are aluminum and enable moving the supports a brainless endeavor.
This Tipton vise is light and easily moved, carried, and placed anywhere there is a 14″ X 36″ stable, space. The supporting tray or bottom body of the vise has numerous indentures that allow placement of tools and parts, nothing huge however (if you require a sledge hammer, that simply ain’t gonna fit) but parts/tool holders are still sufficient and enable one to keep track of their parts, There are higher quality more robust vises on the market but I’m not a gunsmith, I’m a gun enthusiast, thus, this piece is excellent and a great bargain.
The Tipton Gun Vise features a rubberized cradle and jaws that protect and grip your gun. Molded-in compartments keep solvents and small parts organized and within reach. Made of solvent-resistant polymers.
I bought this to hold my rifles for cleaning. Works great, is sturdy and holds the rifle secure. The rubber rest and clamps keep the stock from getting scratched. It has a built in rest for your cleaning rod, several compartment to set solvent, oil or patches in during cleaning.
So assembly is required. It was easy and the instructions are clear. Care has to be taken not to over tighten the screws, as it is all plastic. I would recommend this stand.
I’ve been a gun enthusiast for over 40 years. After inheriting my dad’s guns at age 18 when he passed, I continued to build my collection. I don’t shoot a lot, but I do have NRA’s Sharpshooter patch.
When I do shoot, I like to clean the guns well before storage. I cannot believe I have waited this long to finally get a gun vise to make cleaning SO much easier. before now, I’ve had to prop my gun up with blocks or pillows, or even the bags from my corn hole game! The Tipton Gun Vise locks the gun in place without marring the finish.
It comes with some very minor assembly required. Takes about 5 minutes. I really like the locking cam. It makes it easy to swap rifles when you finish one. Scope mounting is an absolute breeze. I really appreciate the moulded in trays to put screws, patches, solvent, lube, tools, etc.
There is even a little recess to hold your cleaning rod. It is lightweight, but engineered to be very sturdy. This is not a shooting sled. I would not use this product to sight in a high-powered rifle.
That is not its intent. It has non-slip feet on the bottom to keep it from sliding around on your table or workbench. My only improvement suggestion would be to add an anchoring points for the option of screwing it down as a permanent fixture.
I got a great buy on this item, and would buy it again. It would make a great gift for the plinker or serious shooter.
I want to clean that 6. 5 Creedmoor but you need a hand free for sipping on that whiteclaw well look no further this is the contraption for you. Got that 30-06 dirty from sticking it out the window of your truck this hunting season just sling her into this contraption and you’ll be back out there firing mediocre rounds in no time.
Gun maintenance shouldn’t be a headache. Next time you need to remove and install a new rifle barrel, do so with help from Wheeler Barrel Vise with 3 Oak Bushings. Designed to work with rifle-style weapons to simplify the barrel removing process.
Strong enough to clamp down the toughest barrel, this barrel vise is constructed of heavy-duty carbon steel. The gunsmith tool includes 1 1-inch pre-drilled block, 1 0. 75-inch pre-drilled block, and 1 blank oak block for custom drilling.
This innovative barrel removal tool delivers the strength and holding force required for proper barrel removal. By safely clamping your barrel in place, the Wheeler Secure Barrel Vise Tool holds your barrel in place and prevents slipping while you’re working.
For best results, securely mount this vise to a sturdy bench (not included).
As other have stated, this vise and it’s components are quite large, so much so you may need a larger wrench. The vise base is wide and requires a decent amount of real estate but the pressure generated is impressive.
The wood inserts are suitable for an action that isn’t stuck on, but I found that even with the lead shims sold here, they did not provide enough gripping force to stop difficult actions from rotating the barrel.
I fully recommend close – tolerance aluminum blocks as more force can be used without fear or splintering the wood or spinning the barrel.
Vise worked great. The wooden blocks which are intended to be expendable were a one-time use item. I would recommend getting the aluminum blocks. I also used to vices. One near the chamber and one set at the chase of the barrel.
The two together were required to keep the barrel from spinning. Keep in mind, I’m working on 100+ year old rifles.
I had to exert about 500 ft-lbs to 600 ft-lbs to unscrew a Mauser 98 barrel. But with a little rosin from a Rosin Bag, bought at a sporting goods store(baseball section), the barrel came off nicely. I had to bore the provided unfinished oak blocks, to precisely fit this barrel, and the oak blocks worked well.
This is very high quality and well designed. I like that it’s made in Taiwan rather than China, to standards set by the parent company in Germany. The design is simple and it holds items very solidly.
The ball on mine was a bit loose where it joined its shaft, but when the bottom clamp is completely loosened and removed, the ball can be lifted out, exposing the screw that holds it for a quick tightening.
Other than that, no issues. Even the color scheme is pleasantly retro, like something from the ’60s. The removable rubber pads on the jaws are a nice touch. So is the packaging — it comes in a box printed in German.
I could just about hear an oompah band playing while opening it.
I would highly recommend this item for anyone who needs a vice but doesnt want to permanently drill a heavy bench vice onto their bench. Its very lightweight yet is strong enough for most hobbyists needs.
I use mine for electronics stuff and its strong enough no hassle at all. When its clamped onto your bench its there till you loosen it off. The clamp is lightweight yet sturdy enough to hold your work down rock solid.
I would very highly recommend this vice. 10 out of 10 in my opinion.
Made of tough cast iron, this vise has replaceable forged steel jaws to grip and keep your workpiece still and steady. Equipped with a heavy duty anvil for shaping, this is a great swivel vise for metal fabrication and general purpose use.
I’ve wanted a vise for my workbench for a long time, but it wasn’t until I had a pressing need for one that I finally decided to get serious about shopping for one. I needed to straighten some damaged metal tubing and a twisted mounting plate and knew I needed a sizable vise to do it right.
I purchased the Central Forge 6-inch vise for its size and for its large anvil feature. This vise held everything tight while I pried and bent the pieces back into their proper shape. I’m an ordinary suburban homeowner so I only have a need for a vise once in a while, but I wanted a vise that is robust enough to handle the occasional tough job.
This vise delivered the goods. It was the right choice for my needs.
I needed a vise that was light enough to be removable when needed but with sufficient opening and throat depth to be useable in most situations. This 5 inch works out great for that. I mounted it on a couple of shot 2×4’s and a piece of plywood.
I cut openings in the side of mt work bench (2×6) to receive the 2×4’s and hold the whole assembly to the bench. This works out great and is light enough to easily slide in and out of the bench. I gave it 4 stars because the jaws don’t close square to each other.
I had to insert a 1/16th washer behind one of the jaw inserts. Other than that, so far I am happy with it. Time will tell how much abuse it can take.
This is a good 5″ vise for casual use at home or in a shop where it’ll be used every once in a while and you don’t need a heavier or larger one with more features. One thing you must take into consideration is that although the vise has 3 holes for mounting it on a bench corner and if you’re using a wood bench, you have to have enough meat on the frame of the bench to attach it properly/securely.
If you do that, then the stationary jaw plane does not protrude over the edge of the bench plane, not by much, maybe a quarter of an inch. That then negates the possibility of using the vise for a long piece in a vertical fashion beyond the face of the bench.
Unless, of course, you rotate the vise to the corner, then you can. I doubt that it would work on a steel bench as well. So it’s just an extra step to make such a scenario work against a vise that has a stationary jaw that extends beyond the face plane of the bench, which for some reason are a lot more money.
The main screw is of good size and smooth in its operation. The jaws match and hold wood or steel firmly. Under heavy use, I would suspect there would be some wear but for the price, and level of my use, this vise will last for decades under nominal use.
The bench vise has the crank handle conveniently anchored to the base. It features a handy side pipe rest and bender that helps steady the pipe and provide leverage for bending. Built for long-lasting use, this pipe vise has a sturdy, cast-iron base for excellent durability.
Designed to accommodate a wide range of pipe sizes, the BC810 bench vise has a 1. 3cm to 20cm pipe capacity. Since 1923, RIDGID has remained the symbol of certainty to dedicated professionals of the expert trades.
Every tool that bears the RIDGID brand is engineered to the same high standards of quality, strength and endurance, as was that first heavy-duty pipe wrench more than 80 years ago.
This is the perfect solution for holding in place with no slip plumbing fittings and parts. We had used a standard vise in our shop for years with the risk of things slipping and injury. Rigid is more expensive then other brands but you know with Rigid, you have a tool for life!.
The X-Ecutor 360 shooting bench features a complete 360 swivel action. The gun rest is coated in non-scratch rubber and features a micro-adjust tuning knob for precision tuning. Micro adjustments can be done without taking your sights off the target! Simply turn the knob for easy adjustment.
The padded seat includes a backrest for added comfort and support and can be adjusted up or down to accommodate various heights. Vinyl padded bench cover included to protect your equipment. Special designed top allows comfortable shooting.
Assembly was a bit challenging only because the instructions were not completely clear but got it together. Seems pretty sturdy. support legs at bottom could be a bit wider for more stabilization from side to side tilting/tipping.
Adjustability of seat height was overlooked in the design (i. e. short or tall shooters). Its on the heavier side as well. Last item was the front adjustable support that is hard to thread into place as the welded in nut is tight to the frame so it was hard to get in there.
I think that is because my box came damaged from dropping and the top frame in that area was bent. Will add to this one weather is good and I can haul it to the range.
Sturdy construction with great fit and finish. Concise step by step instructions made assembly a breeze. 360 swivel, padded seat with back rest, and fine tune adjustable rifle rest. Has everything I was looking for in a shooting bench.
Take down and light weight makes this bench portable and easy to store. Package a little beat up upon arrival. Upon close inspection no scratches, scuffs or damage of any kind. Platform cover with ammo pouches adds a nice finishing touch.
The Hyskore Portable Armorers Vise is the perfect gun servicing fixture at your work bench or take it to the range. The bench clamp fits from 3/8 to 2-3/8. The vise rotates 360 degrees around a central axis and has an integral clutch that allows it to lock up at any angle.
Guns can be held in any position for cleaning, scope mounting or maintenance. This means you can clean with the muzzle angled down so that chemicals and debris run out the muzzle and not into the action or trigger group.
If you have an AR-15, remove the rear take down pin and grip the forend in the vise and the gun will be securely held while allowing full access to both receivers.
The design of the vise is great but the plastic wheel handle is def a lil cheap. The foam blocks are not so great that come with the vise. My box was pretty much destroyed and it looked like the vise had been used.
One of my barrel foam blocks was completely missing from the box also. Better options for vise blocks are available.
The Colt Style Rifle platform has become the mainstay of today’s Modern Sporting Rifle market. The popularity and modularity of this platform has created the need for specific tools that allow users to build, maintain and reconfigure.
The integrated mag well insert securely engages the lower receiver and adjusts in angle accommodate any task. The innovative front support is angle adjustable, allowing the barrel portion of the upper or a fore end portion to be secured in its tapered profile.
Both front and rear supports have multiple positions in the base and are reversible. The base is constructed of rigid steel with non-slip rubber feet. Feet can be removed for permanent bench-top mounting.
Additional features in the mag well insert include a hammer stop and a bolt service station that secures the bolt face for disassembly/assembly. The vice works great for assembled guns in closed of break open state but also is ideal for holding a lower receiver only, for assemble and maintenance.
The plastic used to secure the AR is not durable. When I first noticed the part that was used to secure the rifle was plastic my hopes were kind of low that it would do what I needed it to do, but I trusted that armorer vise meant armorers vise.
On first use while attempting to loosen the barrels D-ring the plastic mag well vise block base snapped in half causing me to lose balance and cut my arm on the remaining plastic of the base. The materials used in this product are not strong enough to be labeled a vise.
I bought this device on recommendation from sports authority. As well all I read that wheelers made very good A. R. 15 tools. So a year or so ago I can’t remember when exactly maybe a little over. The first time I used it to do some work on my AR (change out the rear stock) the mag well vise block Cracked all the way across right under where the receiver would go down into the vise.
Very disappointed in this product. And just dimension the block does it look nothing like the one on the box that’s supposed to come with the armor vise. Looks like the one that you buy a that just mounts down with two bolts to a table.
I tried to loosen a staked castle nut and the mag well vice block snapped. It’s made of cheap plastic and can’t handle much torque. This is a cleaning vice, but not much else. Wrestling with the castle nut without a vice, using the Wheeler AR wrench damaged my buffer tube and end plate because it doesn’t hold well.

The gun vise is also great for cleaning your rifle. You can disassemble your rifle and clean it without having to worry about holding it in place. This makes the process much easier and faster.
