20 Best Guitar Chair For Bad Back (2022 Updated)

This is my second guitar wall hanger that I’ve purchased. I was more than pleased with my first purchase two years ago, it replaced a floor guitar stand in my home studio and freed up a lot of floor space as I was always cautious giving it a lot room to walk around it – now the guitar is safer on the wall, easy to get down to play and makes a nice wall decoration/sculpture too.

The matching second holder that I purchased is used to hold a Bb brass trumpet. The trumpet fits very nicely in the wall hanger’s fork with the trumpet bell facing up. Again, it looks like a decorative wall sculpture next to the guitar hanging nearby.

After measuring for the wall hanger placement and getting installation tools it was installed within a half hour – very easy indeed.

Does the job for symmetrical instruments, like a Precision bass or Stratocaster perfectly. Offset basses and guitars will have some issues. Jazz basses need to be shifted over to accommodate the asymmetrical shape.

Forget about other shapes like an Explorer-Thunderbird style or some BC Rich instruments. When folded it fits in my gig bag (Gator Pro 2 bass gig bag) with absolutely no issues in spite of it’s very robust thickness.

No sharp corners to rip your bag or damage your case. Onstage it’s incredibly sturdy and secure. The 3 swinging arms lock securely. I chose this over the very thin Fender mini folding stand and I made the correct decision after examining both.

Leave the ubiquitous tube stands at home.

I like the design of these Auto grip hangars. Normally they are somewhat pricey, but on a SDOTD they are not much more expensive than other style wall hangars. I recently finally bought a good acoustic guitar after looking for a long time, on another SDOTD, but haven’t bought a case yet, as I will use it mostly at home.

I was concerned about protecting the guitar from getting knocked over and damaged, and the low humidity this winter, so I mounted one of these in the bathroom, and put the guitar in there when I bathe or shower.

Admittedly it’s a rather short time, but it’s better than nothing. An old electronic thermometer with a hygrometer gives me an indication of what the humidity is. With Spring around the corner, household humidity should improve.

I bought the 2 for deal, mounted the other in my music room where my other guitars hang. These are my first wall hangers with the auto locking tabs, so I have no experience as far as longevity, but unless you are a gorilla or El Kabong and beat them with a cheap guitar, I don’t see how durability would be an issue.

They are good looking and substantially made.

Works great! My acoustic is nice and secure up on the wall, I feel reassured putting it up there as the arms extend in front of the neck to stop the guitar being knocked off. Really easy to mount with simple instructions to follow, wall plugs and screws were provided which was great.

I’ll be buying at least 2 more for my ukuleles (which will be held just as securely with the NINA attachments) and when I eventually get an electric I’ll be buying one for that too! 5/5*, would definitely recommend.

The wooden mount is very stylish. I would, though, recommend, like other reviewers, that you get longer deck screws to mount it instead of the masonry screws that come with it. Then mount it in a stud and its as solid as a rock.

It holds my guitar far enough out that it never hits the wall. The locking levers work perfectly, so I never worry about my guitar falling. I had originally bought a different brand, but it just wouldnt work properly.

The Hercules came highly recommended by a musician friend of mine and clearly he knows what hes talking about. It fits the wider neck of my classical guitar perfectly, but it also comes with padded sleeves that pop over the padded arms, so if you have an instrument with a narrower neck, you can hang it with this hook as well.

Id give this hook ten stars if I could.

I love this stadium seat! At night I feed my 2 outside cats and I sit on a cement step and talk to them and love them up. For months I’d just sit on a garden kneeling pad but very quickly my butt would be cold (it can be single digits at times-don’t worry-my cats have heated cat shelters! 🙂 and my lower back would be in pain.

Now with my new seat I can sit with so much padding and warmth and my back is supported! I can’t believe the difference it makes! thanks for making my life more comfortable!.

These chairs were a welcome addition to our crazy weekend schedules with kids’ sports. The cushions are super thick and comfortable. The chairs have a bar underneath that rotates out to hold them in place.

They also have non-slip strips on the bottom, which kept them secure and also quiet against the metal bleachers. These seats seem really well made, but were not too heavy to carry with all our other gear.

We’re very pleased with our purchase. We both have lower back issues. This seat really provides much needed support. Very convenient and easy to carry. The extra padded seat is a nice plus. They appear to be very well made.

I definitely recommend.

How good is it? I have more than one of these, but today I decided to take a picture of and write a review of my oldest roc n soc nitro that has been with me 20 years. Yes. 20 years. Hard miles getting tossed around the back vans, getting loaded into suitcases for fly dates, living the good life in a nice road case in a trailer, doing 16 hour days on lower broadway.

It’s seen 30-80 hours every week for the past 7 years. This thing has been with me for it all. Today I reflect and share with you how much you won’t regret this purchase. You’ll see that it looks a little rough in the picture.

I have a bad habit of picking at it in between songs. Despite this, its still 100% functional and comfy as ever. Again, 20 YEARS!.

I’ve played drums for over 30 years. My first throne came with my kit and actually broke after about ten years. The second and third were about the same. I always approached thrones the same way: they serve a purpose and as long as they do the job, cheaper is better.

As I’ve gotten older though, I found that I had to get up after every song to stretch because I was just uncomfortable. My back hurt, my butt hurt, etc. I’d sat in this throne before on other people’s kits and noticed that I didn’t even think about the seat until after I played and realized I wasn’t uncomfortable or hurting.

I bit the bullet and bought one for myself as well as the backrest and I can honestly say that my back and butt don’t hurt after playing any more, and with the back rest, you can push back a bit into the throne and work those feet.

It even makes a good chair whereas before I’d want to sit on a different softer seat when I got up from the drums, I’m completely comfortable remaining seated at the set. I’m 6’4″ 215lbs and this thing is solid, stays put, and feels like the strongest piece of hardware i is own.

This might be the last stool I ever have to buy.

This seat is an absolute game changer. I’ve sustained multiple injuries in my lower back and ribs that have left me with all sortsa chronic pain. On my dinky old seat, I could barely make it through two songs without needing a rest and a stretch.

With this cloud of a throne, I can play as long as I please! I was really impressed by how thick and wide the seat is. I’ve got a big butt and there’s rarely a seat wide enough to accommodate. I was also impressed by the thickness of the back rest, and the sturdiness and stability of the base.

Plus the threaded. thingy. that’s used to adjust the height of the seat is super sturdy and hasn’t budged at all. This thing really exceeded my expectations and has everything to support a spectrum of bodies.

I will say, though, at 5’4″, I was nervous that the shortest setting wouldn’t be short enough for me, but it was just right. So, that may be the only downfall for anyone that’s shorter than me.

After researching the Sylphy chair and going into the showroom to try it out, I decided to buy it. The chair is very good quality and all of the functions work well. But this chair has a few design characteristics that limit who can use it.

First is the scale of the chair. Even with the seat fully extended, I had about 3 1/2″ of my leg unsupported. I am 5′ 10″, so this chair is for someone who is shorter than me. Secondly, the positions that the seat and back lock into are geared primarily for tasking.

The first two positions are tilted forward and the second is neutral upright. The third position is most comfortable for me, but a bit too far back for using a computer. Lastly, the pronounced lumbar support combined with the back tension make it feel like you are fighting with the chair.

It is just not designed for casual sitting. But someone who is under 5′ 8″, likes to sit upright and is looking for targeted lumbar support, will like this chair.

For the last two years, I’ve been working from home and the office chair I was using was not comfortable. One of my new year’s resolutions was to find an ergonomic chair! I tried out several office chairs at R&B and ordered the Sylphy.

BEWARE – THERE IS NO WAY TO ADJUST THE HEIGHT OF THE LUMABR SUPPORT ON THIS CHAIR – so, if your height and or torso isn’t the exact size this chair was designed for, the lumbar support will hit your back in the wrong place, making the chair uncomfortable and useless.

I have dreamed of owning a Herman Miller Aeron chair for a long time. My work has shifted to more computer and desk time. For my 50th birthday, I took the plunge and excitedly spent more on a chair than I could really afford.

My thinking was, this chair will last a lifetime and sitting comfortably and taking care of my body seemed like a good investment in me :). The chair came a few weeks earlier than the estimated delivery time, and my work/travel schedule prevented me from really giving it a try for the first month.

I noticed it was uncomfortable and the lumbar support wasn’t exactly right but the video I watched before buying it clearly shows the lumbar support as being fully adjustable so I didn’t worry about it.

When I was finally able to use the chair, it didn’t feel quite right, and I couldn’t figure out how to adjust the lumbar support. I wasn’t really concerned as the chair has the reputation for being fully adjustable and Herman Miller has an incredible reputation.

I re-watched the video on the Herman Miller website that shows the full adjustable lumbar support and began trying to adjust the chair. In the first section of the film it show how to increase or decrease the lumbar support anomy chair was able to do that.

HOWEVER, it the next part showing how to adjust the height of the lumbar support, it was suddenly showing the back of a different (older) model of the chair that does adjust. I called customer service to learn that the chair I spent nearly 1,700 for DOES NOT have an adjustment for the height of the lumbar support.

Further, because it took me two months to figure that out, my chair is beyond the return date – so I am stuck with an expensive chair that does not do what the website claims it does. Share on you, Herman Miller for making a chair that claims adjust to fit everyone but does not.

I know nearly everyone (Including myself) find the price of the Herman Miller Aeron to be completely insane when first looking at it. I had been aware of the chair for many years before finally deciding to purchase it at the start of this year, with the price being the only thing keeping me from buying one sooner.

I think I should first start with the cons, as whenever you pay this much of a premium for a chair, you will automatically expect it to be good, and want to find every reason to avoid buying it. Con #1 is the fact the chair gets very dirty very quickly.

Since the chair is made of a mesh material, the seat pan and backrest will act (and I will do my best at describing this) in many ways like a cheese grater. Shuffling from side to side will lead to small fibers of your clothing being torn off by the small holes in the mesh.

While this is nowhere near enough to actually damage your clothing, you will find that after a week, the area beneath the chair will be completely caked in dust. This may be a pedantic point, however it is something you should be aware of, especially if you are very sensitive to dust.

While I am not such a person, I am very sensitive to needing to vacuum my floor every few days for the sole purpose of getting rid of half a kilogram of shedded shorts and t shirts. Con#2 You must sit perfectly.

To give some background info on this chair, it was designed in the early-mid 1990s for office workers to sit in for 8 hours a day. Back then, the idea of sitting at a desk for “entertainment” was not really on the cards.

You sat in an office chair because you were working on your computer. As such, the chair was designed so that the person using it would not get tired or fatigued by sitting in a perfect/correct posture for 8 hours a day.

These days, it is far more common to watch films, TV shows, play videogames or generally relax while using a computer for leisure purposes. This means it is far more common today to sit in a more relaxed position in an office chair, either with your legs up, or reclined very far back.

However this is not really what the chair was designed for, and with it being as much an art piece as a chair, Herman Miller are somewhat restricted in being able to change the design to accomodate for the changing ways in which we use computers.

This means that unless you use the Aeron with perfect posture all the time (sitting with your lower back against the backrest, arms at 90 degrees and both feet flat on the floor), the chair is actually uncomfortable.

The chair is only as ergonomic and comfortable as you are willing to make it. If you sit exactly as it is intended, then you will have no issues, but if you deviate from this even slightly, the chair becomes more of a torture chamber.

If you were to sit cross legged on the chair, your ankles would be pressing up against hard plastic. If you try and slouch forward, you are sitting with pretty much no support for your back or bottom.

What I am saying is, unless you use the chair perfectly, it is not going to be very comfortable. However, if you do use it correctly, it is the most comfortable chair out there. As for the good aspects, there really are too many to mention.

Complete customizability of nearly every aspect means you can find the exact settings that are correct for you. The mesh design means you never get overheated while using it, and everything has a premium feel to it with no squeaks, rattles or clicks.

The 12 year Herman Miller warranty will also mean you wont need to go chair shopping for at least another decade.

I cannot stress enough how much this chair has been a life saver for my wife who has the rare spine arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis. This chair can massage from the top of your neck to the back of your quads in your legs depending on your size.

Anyone under 5’10” would fit well in the chair. They chair has a full body mode with the option for heat or you can use the up and down arrows and target specific parts of your body that need attention.

It also very compact and stylish as we put the chair in our office. This chair can be fit into any area easily buy one person and it sets up within minutes right out of the box. While we bought the chair for my wife, I find myself using the chair while working on my laptop or after a strenuous workout.

The only con would be for anyone that is taller than 5’10”. You would have to maneuver yourself on the chair as your upper back would be too tall for the setup. Overall a great product and I would definitely buy it again.

I bought two of these within days of buying the On Sage Deluxe piano bench. While the piano bench helped improve circulation in my legs, I was still experiencing swelling in my legs. These foot stools help tremendously while sitting at my Roland MIDI keyboard playing and working at the computer.

Getting up periodically and stretching my legs wasn’t enough to prevent leg swelling. These are sturdier than they look and worth every penny!.

I have a Thunderbird Bass that I just can’t get comfortable with when standing and playing due to body shape and neck dive, so with this stool, I can comfortably hold my right leg up about a foot or so, and that causes the bass to rest at a slightly different angle, making it easier to manage and control comfortably.

This product can be very useful for playing in the sitting position, but I haven’t needed it for that. It appears to be sturdy enough, surprising for its cost, but to be safe, I wouldn’t suggest putting all your weight on it.

You know, I see a lot of different types of foot stools with different types of price ranges. They all pretty much do the same thing and this foot stool does a great job without breaking your bank. It’s nice and sturdy and has multiple height settings.

I had been suffering from very intense lower back pain on my left side. It had become unbearable and I was struggling to work and focus. The #1 reason that I purchased this chair was because I was looking for a USA company.

The #2 reason was the good reviews. I ordered it on a Monday, received it the same week on Wednesday and put it together myself in a few minutes. I keep the “bucket” loose so that it rocks easily and the pad at the lower back gently massages my back as I rock.

No more sharp back pain as I work, just a dull reminder that it is still healing a month later. I also have not had any trouble with the seat cushion as others had described. I had contacted the company before I purchased the chair for ideas of how to deal with the cushion if that did present a problem and they quickly replied with a link to a cushion that I could purchase on Amazon.

Nice customer service. I like the chair so much that I ordered another today to have at home since the occasional work at home thing happens. It is the only chair that I can sit in right now that doesn’t cause pain.

It’s adjustable for height and depth (to a point) but I found a comfortable adjustment that fit my back just right for the chair. Since proper posture is needed for drumming, I found that this really helped with the laziness I often get in backless chairs of any sort.

If I ever feel it’s cumbersome, I can take it off in a matter of minutes. It’s not really there so much for support, it’s more there as a friendly reminder to sit up straight.

I sometimes come across reviews where the buyer complains about being shipped a used item and leaving a one-star review. I always thought those were brand competitors or just trolls. This week, I found out it actually happens.

This item was clearly worn out with a layer of dust and lint, shipped in an re-used Fender box (I get it, save the environment, but come on), and to top it off, there’s a bottom bracket missing, so I can’t even use it.

Now I’m stuck dealing with the situation of re-wrapping the parts, dealing with customer service, and shipping it back. Come on guys.

I purchased the Roc n Soc backrest along with a Roc n Soc throne. I have a problem with arthritis in my lower spine and would have a terrible back ache after playing for only 15 minutes. It seems like there is never a wall around to lean back on when you need one.

Since I bought the backrest and throne I am able to play for about an hour and a half every day. The combination of throne and backrest is extremely comfortable and supports my lower back perfectly. I am not one who usually writes product reviews however this item has allowed me to continue to play and enjoy my time behind my set.

I surely recommend this product. Oh yes, the quality and workmanship is second to none.
