It’s been a while since I started using Illy Coffee, good things take time, Like making Illy Coffee and taking the time to write a good review after a while has gone by so as to better give a balanced review that highlights the best aspects of this great coffee.

After the start of the pandemic, I purchased an espresso machine to keep me caffeinated while working from home. Being from Hawai’i, I have developed a taste for fresh espresso made with Kona coffee beans and wanted to reproduce my favorite coffee house flavors at home.

This proved more difficult than I expected as I quickly realized why a good Kona coffee drink typically runs $6 or more – Kona coffee is expensive. So began a two-year search for a comparable replacement.

I purchased fresh medium espresso roasts from national chains, small specialty roasters both locally & nationally, and even imported coffee from Italy. I have a few favorites, but all the caffeine started to get to me.

Enter the half-calf products from Fresh Roasted Coffee LLC – I have tried nearly every variety of their half-caf options. For espresso-based drinks that most closely resemble the Kona coffee flavors, the Peruvian is definitely #1, however, my husband likes Italian espresso flavors and prefers the Mexican half-caf blend.

I am a coffee grower/roaster in Kona Hawaii and am experimenting with coffees to blend with coffee from my estate for an espresso blend. I am ordering roasted coffee, but when I decide the blend that works well, I will order green.

I have ordered (2) batches of this coffee and they were almost identical to each other and true to the roast label indication of Medium Dark. This company certainly knows how to source green coffee and roast it reliably to a predetermined roast profile.

The time from order to delivery is impressive. My roastery stocks no roasted coffee as we are a roast-to-order business. Fresh Roast is not a roast-to-order business, but they certainly have very freshly roasted coffee, as their name implies.

The days past roast date is not so critical to brewed coffee, but it super critical for espresso. Both batches that I received seemed to be about the same in freshness past roast date. As someone who is buying roasted coffee for espresso I really need the date of roast on the package, That is the only negative thing I can offer for my experience with Fresh Roasted.

As a coffee grower and roaster with 12 years of experience I can certainly recommend Fresh Roasted.

this was my first time making espresso. i usually drink iced coffee with 2 pumps of caramel. my percolator was clogged so i tried my french press instead and made an oatmilk latte. be warned: I wasn’t able to press it down fully since i was only making 2 shots, I’d suggest using a different method or making a larger batch.

i gave it a taste test before adding syrup, and to my surprise i didn’t need any! it was so good. smooth and delicious. I’ll definitely buy this again and I’m so glad i found decaf because I can’t drink caffeine with my medication.

I am an avid espresso drinker, and this is one of my favorites for a decaffeinated treat. The packaging is decent, this is in a tin container with a plastic top to ensure the coffee stays fresh. I would improve the product by making it a tad bit stronger, however when using it in a proper espresso machine, this does taste very strong.

This is made in Italy, it’s a ground grind and the flavors are aromatic and gentle. This is an affordable option for espresso drinkers. This is my 17th container of this stuff, and I will always have this in my pantry.

Would recommend this for first time decaf espresso drinkers who want to dip their toe into this world!.

I haven’t been able to drink caffeine for more than 20 years and, until I found this some years ago, I really didn’t enjoy my coffee. Now I don’t know what I’d do without this. It was a marvelous find: I suspect that anyone in a “blind tasting” wouldn’t be able to identify this as decaff coffee.

I make it using a simple Melitta cone/filter combo over a mug with about 4 heaped teaspoons. Out comes dark, “strong”, “real” coffee which, towards the end, if milk has been added, has a deep caramelly taste.

Perhaps the reviewer who is using it in a coffee machine has to use too much water for the machine to work (and thus the taste is diluted, as it would be with normal coffee)?.

All of the reviews were so good that I was sure we would like this blend. But alas, it was really disappointing. It had only a slight aroma, and the aftertaste was unpleasant. It definitely had more of an over-roasted taste, which was a surprise considering it is a light roast blend.

Customer service was no help, claiming “there is nothing wrong with it. ” I have enjoyed many EE coffees, but not this – or at least not the lot that I received.

Three of us have been sharing 4 cases of Hazelnut Creme for the last several months. It is the favorite flavor of all 3 of us. This time I ordered one case of Organic Mind Body and Soul just for a bit of a change.

I have not tried it yet, but it had great reviews from others, so I am looking forward to the new aroma and taste.

The is a favorite in My household especially when trying to add a little punch of caffeine to our morning coffee for that extra zip of energy! My husband is very fond of the flavor specifically and loves to mix a cup of this with his favorite flavored coffee or even just by itself.

This brings me back to high school and one of my very best friends and I would have coffee and a treat after school when we were to hang out. She actually introduced me to it back then. Always been fond of it’s strong bold taste.

Can always find it at a decent price for it’s quality.

At one time, I would have given Cafe Bustelo six stars if I could. It’s still great — by far the best coffee you can buy at this price point if you brew it correctly, to my mind. But they’ve got a couple of premium varieties now so I’m guessing that’s where their most exceptional beans go these days.

Never mind. This stuff is still great, you just need to brew it a tad stronger. Also, if you use a French Press: for best results, make sure you unscrew the screen and rinse it every single time. Those few little grounds that resist your powerful sink sprayer make subsequent pots taste slightly stale.

For me, four rounded coffee scoops is just about right for a large French Press. (This stuff works equally well with pourover drippers).

I’ve been looking for a tasty, “coconut” flavored coffee for some time. This is, without a doubt, the most fantastic tasting coconut flavored coffee I have ever had. To say it is delicious would be an understatement.

I am an über fan of Death Wish Dark Roast Whole Bean for over 3 years now. I am a monthly subscriber, do it, you get a discount and a sticker (as you can see, it makes my containers look great. )! Now to the taste, besides Death Wish being on most major/credible year end “Top Tens” constantly, for a dark roast, that is usually bitter, this coffee has all the body of a dark roast yet, it’s smooth as cream.

As you can see in the image, I make pour over coffee. So this recommendation is from that subjective perspective. (I do not own am automatic coffee maker). I make everyone try it. they too are shocked at the incredible body/bold taste but lacks the bitterness of typical Robusta beans (which has the higher caffeine content, thus the marketing of strongest coffee).

Finally, as a retired “Marketing Ex” in NY SF, I give Death Wish a pass on the over hype/ of the “exact” amount of caffeine per serving (it’s impossible to state natures decision vs objectively an exact amount of anything has to be humanly manage and third party test for accuracy).

The caffeine for me and everyone I personally know is not overwhelming at all.

So, I am a died in the wool Kona bean drinker, I much prefer the smoothness the lava filtered aquifers feed bean plants in Hawaii. That being said, I find Arabica beans, and any beans grown in S. America to be a bit flat, too bitter, not acidic enough.

BUT, it was on sale so I gave Folgers 1850 blends and shot. and the good folks at Folgers have successfully found the PERFCT way to make premium packaged taste JUST like their standard canned coffee.

1850 only slightly taste less like the soil that is was grown in than the canned variety. A previous reviewer very much spot on described it as tasting “like the coffee you would get from a large decanter in any church basement across the nation” I would also add.

If you are going to spend the money between $tarbuck$ over-roasted offerings and standard canned-coffee, I would suggest to go a few bucks more and pass the dressed up middle of the road 1850 blends for something a bit more “gourmet”.

I have been looking for a dark rich coffee for a few years now. I use to think eight o’clock coffee was great as well as Nescafe dark roast instant by adding extra coffee to make it stronger and bolder.

My wife bought me a French press as a gift and changed the way I looked at coffee all together. Folgers 1850 Black Gold has become my goto coffee without any dought. I’ve tried a couple other 1850 flavors but the 1850 Black Gold in my opinion is the best by far.

I really hope This 1850 Black Gold coffee stays on the market for many years to come. I found it at Dollar General and saw that one store was discontinuing it. I bought their last two 12 oz bags. Glad to see I can find it on line still.

I can only hope others find out how great this coffee is so the local stores will continue to sell the product.

I have been drinking; good to the last drop most of my life. I’m 45 yrs old. I’ve never been a folders type of guy, although the jingle is catchy yet the flavor always had a burnt taste. Then I was at the store one day and saw 1850 pioneer blend.

The title and the name stuck out like a gold nugget. For I love westerns and love making my coffee in a perculator. I decided to bring it home. From the delicious taste to the aroma and the aftertaste I give this product 5 stars.

I’ve tried the black gold, and trailblazer as well. They are now all three in the cabinet ready for the day’s brew. I would recommend this product to friends and family as I have my co-workers. Made a full thermos and shared it with teammates.

We have been using Folgers for 30+ years and have always loved the aroma and taste. We usually purchase a can every month. I noticed the last can I had gotten the smell and taste was different but I didn’t say anything at first because I had just gotten my taste and smell back from having Covid a couple of months ago and I thought it was from that.

Then my husband said something and our daughter did too so I knew it wasn’t just me. I threw the rest of that canister away thinking maybe it had just gone bad. I cleaned the coffee maker really good and bought a new can.

Opened it and still smelled and tasted weird. It’s like a chemical or bitter taste. I was thinking about going to a different store to purchase a smaller can to see if it’s just the batch coming from Sams but I see that other people are having the same problems.

I am now going to throw this new can away and go with a different brand. I hope that Folgers will go back to the quality coffee we have always loved, but for now it’s a different brand for us.

I categorize coffee into two categories: 1) Diner Coffee or 2) Good Coffee. Diner coffee isn’t “bad coffee” it’s just the typical slightly burnt flavour and a little too bitter or acidic for my tastes.

It usually requires cream and sugar to get down. Good coffee is coffee that I could, theoretically, drink black but I still prefer cream or milk, but nothing else is needed. It’s a coffee that makes you go “ahh” after the first sip.

It isn’t burnt or too acidic, it’s the perfect blend of rich flavour and depth. Folgers, much to my surprise, falls into the good coffee category! I would have thought it Diner coffee but I was wrong.

It’s got a great depth of flavour. It’s rich and dark but not too acidic. It’s bold without leaving you searching for something to make it a little less bitter. I’ve brought this into my rotation of coffee brands in my house (along with Second Cup, Kirkland (cheap Diner coffee), and laughing whale coffee).

I recommend you give this one a try, too!.

This is not the same coffee I have been drinking for years. No, I don’t have covid or anything like that– neither do others with the same complaint about Folgers Colombian– the quality has been going down for almost a year, and the price keeps climbing.

Folgers has a lot of nerve to pretend “nothing has changed. ” Do they even drink their own coffee??? We go through coffee faster now, trying to make it taste as strong as it used to. My husband and I both work from home and we would go through one of the BIG canisters once per week– I know how it is supposed to taste.

We’ve changed coffeemakers over the past year and it made no difference, Folgers still tastes like generic at twice the price. Thanks, Folgers, for giving me a reason to switch to a more eco-friendly shade grown coffee brand.

Your price is no longer competitive and the flavor is absolutely not worth it.
