A golf rangefinder is a device that helps a golfer determine the distance to various targets on a golf course. The most common use for a rangefinder is to help a golfer choose the correct club for their shot.
Many rangefinders also provide other information such as the elevation of the target, wind speed and direction, and the temperature.
The Golf Digest is a magazine that covers the sport of golf. It is published monthly in the United States and has a circulation of 1. 5 million. The magazine was founded in 1950 and is owned by Conde Nast.
Thanks to the Slope technology, your Prism Golf rangefinder can do the math and determine the true distance! The slope technology determines the elevation difference between you and the hole. New 1,000-yard range technology.
Things I like: Size, built in magnet, excellent optics, speed of response. Things I am having trouble with: I am never sure exactly what target I hit. I shoot the target multiple times, easy enough, and get readings all over the place.
On a course you don’t know, it is difficult to determine what readings are reasonable. Seemed to be easier with my previous model, although slower. Is it possible to simply show a blinking dot on whatever target I hit in the viewfinder? So far, I don’t trust it and it is impossible to commit properly to your shot when you are questioning the distance.
I was skeptical at first about quality and most important accuracy being not a known premium brand like Bushnell. I have tried other units and always went back to Bushnell due to accuracy. Tested Pinned Prism vs Bushnell and within 0.
5 yds everytime. As we all know shooting target right next you someone with different range finder always has 1 to 2 yds diff due to calibration etc. Great features with built in magnet and Prism locks on target quickly.
Solid, quality construction. I would purchase again and recommend to friends.
The GB LASER lite includes maximum features at a fraction of the price. This compact and sporty golf laser rangefinder has slope compensation with on/off functionality making it legal for tournament use.
The jolt vibrates ensure you are picking up the flag rather than the landscape behind and the 0. 5-second one-click measure makes it extremely fast at picking up your targets. The carry case easily attaches to your golf bag and can be used without zipping it up.
Just lock the elastic toggle and when out on the golf course quickly grab your rangefinder without having to unzip the case all the time.
The reason why I didn’t give this a 5 star rating is because I can’t see much difference when using the slope mode. Also, perhaps I don’t know how to use it properly; but the mode without any slope or pin can read so drastically different from the other two.
I have been looking for a new rangefinder a while but just couldn’t justify spending $300-$400 on one. I found the GolfBuddy and liked what I saw. I have now used over several rounds of golf and love it.
It locks on pin quickly and the vibration acknowledges the target. The slope feature is just another great bonus. I am very happy with it and the price was awesome.
Nikon’s Coolshot 20I G2 golf laser rangefinder provides fast, accurate distance measurements for every shot, including those with slope. You don’t have to guess anymore on how far uphill or downhill a shot will play.
You also don’t have to guess which club to choose for elevation changes. Using Nikon’s ID technology allows you to collect slope-adjusted distances so you can choose the right club and hit the ball at the proper trajectory.
Additional technologies include First Target Priority and 8-Second Continuous Measurement. First Target Priority assures pin measurement, not objects in the background. 8-Second Continuous Measurement is useful when trying to find measurements of multiple or very small or thin objects.
It allows you to know the distance to hazards, pins, mounds, and trees in one push and hold of a button.
The Bushnell Tour V5 continues Bushnell’s tradition of setting new standards through constant innovation and incorporation of leading technologies. Molded with the perfect combination of size, speed, accuracy and Visual JOLT, the Tour V5 rangefinder is designed to create confidence for every shot needed on the course.
In the V5 rangefinders, JOLT has been taken to the next level with the all new PinSeeker with Visual JOLT Technology. A red ring now flashes as JOLT vibrates to give the golfer even greater feedback and confidence to know they have locked onto the flag.
The Tour V5 rangefinders feature Bushnell’s “BITE” technology. The BITE magnetic mount allows the laser rangefinder to be secured to a golf buggy without the need for any aftermarket accessories. Tour V5 is the game’s most dominant advantage, and it fits in the palm of your hand and packs 1300-yard/ 1188-meter range finding capability into a compact, ergonomically designed custom high-tack grip.
Powered by a 3-volt battery, the ultra-compact Tour V5 boasts a 6x magnification and features a rubber armoring, making it easy to grip. Tour V5 sets a new standard in the complete laser rangefinder package – look, feel and performance.
A package that may see players starting to waggle their V5 before the range with their targets.
Edge is purpose-built for the serious disc golfer. The first and only laser rangefinder with Z-mode for elevation plus, scan mode, angle readings, and distance measurement – all in, the most competitive edge for disc golfers.
I have tried many apps, range finders, etc – but I think this is by far the best one I’ved used. Very easy to lock onto the pin and get accurate readings (even with my shaky hands). The information is clearly displayed easy to read.

This rangefinder has no clarity, extremely blurry. My husband was very disappointed. It cost approximately $135. 00. I would rather double my money for a good quality one. I do not recommend this particular brand.
The Callaway 300 Pro Laser Rangefinder delivers ALL the distance measurement features golfers need! Now with Slope Technology, elevation changes are accounted for, ensuring truly accurate distance measurements.
Whether your trying to carry that fairway bunker off, or firing at the flagstick of an elevated green, you’ll know the true distance for any shot on the course!.
This rangefinder has a very clear display and the magnification is more than adequate. I have had no trouble having the finder identify the greens flags or fairway features. The finder displays the actual distance and the slope adjusted distance clearly.
It is easy to use. The view, like a telescope, is available all the time but the distance crosshairs turn off if it hasnt been used in the last several seconds, but the crosshairs come on immediately on pressing the distance button.
It was easy to use right out of the box. The semi-hard sided case has both a zipper and an elastic latch so I attach the case to my bag and just undo the elastic band to remove the finder. It also has a fairly strong magnet on the rangefinder itself for attaching to a metal surface of a golf cart This is my first rangefinder but it does all that I need and I dont know what better features one would get by buying a more expensive model.
Maybe improved optics, but the optics on this one are excellent IMO.
The range finder is very small and comfortable in your hand. It’s straightforward to use and gives both the straight distance and the distance adjusted for slope. I’ve had no trouble hitting the targets I’m aiming at easily.
Only thing I’m taking a star off for is the “birdie” feature. It’s supposed to chirp when you hit a flag but it doesn’t seem to do it every time and when it does its so soft you can’t easily hear it.
I suppose that’s is to compete with the jolt feature on the bushnells but its not a good replacement. If you really need that feature you’ll have to buy the more expensive bushnell – I don’t have any need for it – the Callaway is easy to accurately hit a flag or other item.
Recommend. Update 2/26 after using it a few times I’m questioning the accuracy of the slope feature. Yardage to the pin is always good, but on some holes I know play much more uphill it doesn’t seem to register enough uphill, others it seems to over do.
Yes I know there’s more than slope as to how a hole plays but it’s too far off to be very useful at my home course, making it suspect on the courses where I’d really benefit from it. I have no regrets on the purchase, just expected the slope to be more help.
TGW Players Slope Golf Rangefinder with Pin ValidationOverview * The TGW Players Slope Rangefinder is like having two rangefinders in one through the use of interchangeable plates on the side of the unit.
* The white plate activates slope and provides compensated distances while the black plate turns slope off so the unit is legal for tournament play.
Very reasonably priced. I bought this unit as a replacement for myself as I gave my Bushnell to my daughter. This rangefinder works as well and easily as the Bushnell product with the addition of the “Pin Finder” feature not available on my previous Bushnell model.
I’ve found no problems on using it for non-pin golf objects such as front and backside of greens when they are in view and other geographical features of which distances are helpful during a round of golf.
The only draw back is the necessity of storing the slope-mode plate for legal use during tournament play. If you keep the rangefinder in the provided case, this won’t be an issue. I keep mine in a rangefinder-designed pocket in my golf bag.
An item as small as the slope-mode plate is easily lost. at least in my golf bag. Bottom line is that I’m not going to take a star away for a problem that is purely personal for my situation.
Excellent value! My previous rangefinder was a bushnell, which I lost. As such, I was in the market for a new rangefinder. The reviews for this product were consistently positive, so I decided to purchase.
The product arrived neatly, along with its packaging, manual, and protective case. Having played a few rounds while using this product, I would strongly recommend it. It quickly acquires flagsticks, vibrates to confirm, and is highly accurate; I get the same distance readings as my playing partner who has a bushnell.
Furthermore, the “slope feature” takes much of the guess work out when playing on courses with drastic elevation changes. In summation, this product’s performance is top-tier without a top-tier prices.
The Next Generation Of The Top-selling Coolshot 20, With Increased Range And Superior Accuracy: With a measurement range of 6-800 yards, displaying in 1-yard increments and accurate to 1-yard (under 100 yards), and 2-yard (over 100 yards).
Compact, Lightweight, and Ergonomic Design. This truly pocketable rangefinder is perfect for those who may prefer to walk a few holes or the entire course. Requires less space and weight whether in your bag, in a pocket, or carried in hand.
Nikon quality 6x optical monocular with multilayer coating for bright, clear images. Eyepiece Focus Diopter to focus on your own exact vision. Long Eye Relief (20 mm) for use with sunglasses or eyeglasses.
Single or Continuous measurement (up to 8 seconds) allows for quick, easy measurements to multiple targets, without the wait for a secondary indicator, such as a vibration or LED. First target priority automatically displays the range to the first/nearest target among the multiple measurements obtained.
This assures that the measurement shown is the pin and not any objects in the background.
See distance like never before with the Bushnell hybrid. Bushnell golf has been the leading innovator in golf measuring devices for over 20 years and is now bringing laser and GPS technologies together like never before with the hybrid.
This is the world’s first laser rangefinder/GPS combo unit with a fully integrated display featuring both laser and GPS yardages. Over 99% of PGA Tour players choose to use a Bushnell laser rangefinder due to their unrivaled precision.
Bushnell has now combined this unrivaled laser precision with GPS-provided “front” and “back” distances in the LCD to further remove the guesswork from your game. You now have every number you need to approach all of your shots with the utmost confidence.
This range finder is a huge disappointment. It is expensive and does not deliver. The hybrid function work but I have to charge it every 2 rounds. It is vey hard to lock on the pin when I am 150+ yard from the flag.
Sometimes it take between 5-10 tries to lock and get the distance and when the distance is close to 200 or more it won’t lock on the pin and impossible to get the distance. I have a callaway range finder that cost half and have no problem on gettting the distance even from 250-300 yards.
purchased this so did not have to wear my golf watch and to have front, back and middle distance numbers. found the unit to feel on the cheap side with no magnet to attach to the cart. and of course too big to keep in your pocket, so found I was having to continually reaching in my golf bag to get the device.
I like to pull up to the ball and look at my watch and then mentally prepare to select what club i will use (from a pace of play standpoint) what i was finding is that the whole procedure with this device was combersone and i found that i wasnt using the device and going back to my watch.
I purchased this hybrid as I was moving from a skycaddie and was tired of paying the membership fees. The Bushnell hybrid now gives me everything my skycaddie did as well as the pinpoint accuracy to the flag along with a lot more.
I now can use the app on my phone to get a flyover of the hole that I am playing which is handy when playing a new course that I am not familiar with. I can also keep my scores in the app on my phone which is nice; however, the app needs some improvement from Bushnell.
The unit works completely as expected and is very quick to give you the number you need to shoot. The jolt technology is an excellent perk to have on the unit as it gives you the confidence in the number to the flag as well as to the front and back of the green which I always find important.
Product is well made and is really light. A carrying case comes in the purchase which you can easily attach to your bag to make it easy on the course. Highly recommend to pick this unit over all others.
Bushnell Golf has revolutionized golf laser rangefinders with the feature packed Pro XE. Tour-trusted compensated distances have been taken to the next level with Slope with ‘Elements. ‘ Temperature and barometric pressure have been added to Bushnells patented Slope Technology to give golfers the most precise compensated distances ever.
JOLT has been advanced with the all new ‘Visual JOLT. ‘ A red ring now flashes as JOLT vibrates to give the golfer even greater feedback and confidence to know you have locked onto the flag. Also new to the Pro XE is Bushnells exclusive BITE magnetic mount that allows you to easily mount the Pro XE right on the cart bar.
The Pro XE is wrapped in a fully-waterproof metal housing to give golfers the most accurate and durable laser rangefinder to ever hit the market.
I recently purchased the Bushnell Pro XE on the heels of a detailed walk through by a Golf Galaxy salesman who had one himself. After becoming comfortable with it, I splurged and bought it thanks to the sales presentation, ease of use, and gift cards I had received at Christmas.
This is the first rangefinder I’ve owned and it’s ease of use with the vibration and red circle flashing when you’ve hit your target with the laser makes accurate readings a breeze. The slope and temperature adjusted yardage is icing on the top.
I would recommend this product to any golfer who wants a great top of the line product. You may wince at the price but you’ll really enjoy using this rangefinder. The store also price matched a lower price I found for it on Amazon, saving my self a little over $60.
Bought one of these in 2019… broke within 3 months… sent it in and was sent a new one after it was evaluated…. New one lasted less <3 years with normal use… stopped working and sent in for repair… was told “can no longer repair due to cost of parts, etc”.
But we will be happy to sell you a new one for 20% off which is still over $400…. I can’t believe that I have had 2 of these $500 rangefinders that have both broken rather quickly…. I have a 10 year old Nikon that still works just fine… maybe bushnell should look into some quality control from them….

Paired with CT10 club trackers, you’ll be amazed at how accurately this thing tracks your shots. Hit the course more between charges with up to 30 hours of battery life.
I bought this a month ago and took it out on a few rounds. The features were easy to figure out, and it was the perfect aid I felt I needed to help judge distances. I also liked keeping score with it.
But, I felt a little distracted with it clipped to me – even while having it tucked into a pocket (I used a strap-like clip to hook it to a belt loop, which provided enough length to tuck this into a pocket).
The option to clip it to my belt seemed tedious – you have to go to settings and change the screen orientation, and you can’t just glance down at it. You have to grab and flip it up to read it. So, I clipped it to my bag, but even then, I fumbled with it when checking distances and sometimes forgot to enter my score after each hole.
It just got frustrating at times to use. Last week, I ordered a watch (the Garmin S40), and I couldn’t be happier. All the same, features are there, and more – color screen, touchscreen, weather, sunrise/set, step counter.
Oddly enough, if this G12 had a touchscreen and a couple of the S40’s features, it would be more enjoyable to use – more like a watch without the strap, which is closer to the experience I expected. This has enough built into it to make it an excellent first device, but I turned too quickly to the realization that I wanted a little bit more.
This was a replacement for another garmin golf gps that quit after 10 or 11 years. My older one was bigger and had way more features on it that I never used. I wanted something small and easy to use.
The G12 is exactly that and has the features that I wanted. I also would add that I don’t like wearing a watch so that is another reason I picked this product. Easily fits in my pocket or can clip it to my belt while playing.
Has excellent battery life, have played 5 rounds so far with it (18) holes and still have over 50% battery life. A perfect gps for me. Enough features but not to much.
Callaway’s new 200s Laser Rangefinder is ultra compact and lightweight so you can keep it handy for all 18 holes. With Pin Acquisition Technology, you can lock on to the pin from up to 275 yards away.
Scan the entire landscape and lock on to multiple targets. It can measure in either yards or meters. 3balls. com online store offers the best value and quality for your Callaway golf Accessories needs.
I purchased the Callaway 200s Slope Laser Rangefinder over the winter and have used it during my first 3 rounds this season. It has made a tremendous difference in my game giving me a lot a confidence in knowing the exact distance.
The Rangefinder replaced a Bushnell Neo Ghost which was good at providing distance to the center of the green and front and back measurements. The Rangefinder is very accurate. I’ve been using them together at times when I can’t see if the pin.
OK, so I’ve been in the market for a range finder for a while, using my Garmin watch is good but I wanted a bit more accuracy than the front, middle, back option. I trawled the net, read too many reviews to get myself confused.
Price played a major factor, could I warrant paying 250 plus for something that ultimately does the same thing? No. I kept coming back to this product time and time again and bit the bullet and purchased it.
The offer of free balls was an added bonus too. So, the product itself. Does it work? Yes. Is it easy to use? Yes. Does it pick up background images? Yes, but a bit of perseverance will pay dividends, if the flag is fluttering it makes life easier to lock on to.
Has my handicap come tumbling down? No haha. Would I recommend this to others? Yes. I’m still in the process of getting on with it but the early signs are it’s a cracking product for the money. Save yourself some dollar and buy this, unless you’re the Gucci type who wants a named brand and money is no object.
All in all, its a 10 from Len. Len isn’t my real name but it wouldn’t work as well as saying its a 10 from Rob. Hope this helps.
Got to use my new Callaway Laser 200 rangefinder last week in Vancouver loved it. But it never agreed with my Garmin watch or my golf partners distance. We figured out after 9 holes it was set up on meters not yards.
Weve got your game with the Approach G12 golf rangefinder. Clip the thin GPS device to your pocket, or use the lanyard loop to mount it on a golf bag, to see distances to the green at a glance for up to 30 hours on a single charge.
Use big-numbers mode to display accurate yardage measurements to the front, back and middle of the green. See positions of the hazards and doglegs on a hole, so you can find the best way to navigate each shot.
This rangefinder comes preloaded with more than 42,000 courses worldwide and gets wireless course updates (when paired with a compatible smartphone), so you can easily play your favorites.
This device does what it advertises. Picks up the satellites reasonably quickly. I have used it on 3 local courses. On one course, the carts also had a yardage display and the device was consistent. The clip stays on my belt very securely.
I tried it once clipped to my pocket and it was not as secure. The only design issue I have is when it is clipped to my belt and I look down to get my yardage, the display is upside down. It would be great if the clip or the bezel rotated so when I looked down, I could read the numbers more easily.
Otherwise, no complaints with the display or the accuracy. This was a good purchase.
Size, speed and accuracy evolved with a new generation of tech — featuring PinSeeker with Visual JOLT, BITE Magnetic Mount, and next level clarity and brightness — plus patented slope compensation that will change your game.
Your Bushnell Tour V5 is an advanced premium laser rangefinder comprised of digital technology and turbo processors allowing range readings from 5–1300 yards / 5–1189 meters. The Tour V5 delivers extremely fast acquisition and +/- 1 yard accuracy.
The Tour V5 features PinSeeker technology with JOLT, allowing the golfer to easily and quickly “zero” in on the flag without acquiring background targets, and superb optical quality. JOLT has been advanced with the all new “Visual JOLT.
” A red ring now flashes as JOLT vibrates to give the golfer even greater feedback and confidence to know you have locked onto the flag. Also new to the Tour V5 is Bushnell’s exclusive BITE magnetic mount that allows you to easily mount the Tour V5 right on the cart bar.
The CaddyView V2 +Slope is the newest innovation from CaddyTek. The patented one step “Mode-Switching” between Non-Slope and Slope compensation distance display let golfer easily adjust this rangefinder to be used in friendly/practice round of golf (with slope compensation distance display) or in the serious tournament.
“FlagSeeking” technology comes with this Laser Rangefinder identifies the closest target to help you get your measurement to the flagstick no matter what is behind the green. The powerful 6x magnification also help you range subjects distance up to 800 yards easily and clearly.
CaddyView V2 is large enough to use comfortably, and compact enough for easy storage. This new laser rangefinder from CaddyTek will be a powerful tool for managing your golf.
With one round played using the rangefinder I found it to be accurate (compared to a my playing partners range finder, gps units & PGA markers), easy to use (optics were clear, no problem with glasses, on & mode buttons functioned easily & readouts were clear and easy to read), it picked up range readings quickly using the pin seeker or scan modes (where there was heavy background, trees, bushes etc.
behind the green it took a little longer to pick up the flag. ) The flags did not have the prisms, so overall I was very pleased with the performance. As with any technology devices giving measurements or data, common sense comparisons are still needed at times to verify the reading.
I did not need the slope readings on this course, but looked at it several times and I believe it will be useful on other courses with elevation changes. It fits nicely in the hand and it is a compact unit.
It has the look and feel of being well made. The case is well constructed and the unit fits snugly in it. I used the supplied carabiner to attach it to my bag and it worked out very well. Prior to purchasing this unit I used a gps unit with front, middle & back readings.
The only thing I missed about this it was a blind second shot on one hole where couldn’t laser the pin or anythingnear by. This is not a deal breaker for me as far as purchasing any laser range finder.
Having used it for 18 holes I am very pleased with the Caddytec V2 and would recommend that it be added to your list of range finders to consider. I believe it is very reasonably priced for the functions that it has compared to some of the other units.
I have used this on 2 rounds of golf now and am truly impressed with how well it works. I previously had a Bushnell Pinseeker that was really hard to get it to register the flag and this Caddy View picks up the flag instantly and gives you the slope compensation.
I was worried initially that the incredibly low cost would translate into inferior quality but I am really happy with it’s performance. It also has a carry case that snaps onto your belt so I don’t have to worry about taking it back to the cart, just goes right back in the case where it will be the next time I need it and not get lost like my Bushnell which went flying off the cart on several occasions.
It’s compact. I highly recommend. Can’t comment on long term durability but out of the box it’s a winner.
I’ve never used a golf rangefinder, and didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so I did a lot of research and ended up choosing the CaddyView V2. I also took a chance by ordering an open box unit which saved another $30.
So far I’ve been very pleased. Everything came looking brand new and working fine. I usually take several readings and when the correct target is identified they are always identical. My only issues with the design of the unit itself are minor – it is a little hard to see the black text in the display if you have a dark background so you have to take the reading and then aim at the sky because it retains the last reading on the display.
It is also a little hard to get in and out of the case, and I wish it had a wrist strap (mainly for pulling out of the case).
The conclusion of the golf rangefinder 2022 golf digest is that it is a great product for those who are looking for an accurate and reliable device to help them improve their game. It is easy to use and comes with a variety of features that make it a great choice for any golfer.
