I feel like it gets worse every year. I really regret buying it. They focus on the new modes while the in-game play suffers. The catches (or lack thereof) are so unrealistic, and the lack of being able to throw the ball into tight spots takes all the fun out.
They give the secondary super human speed and ability while receivers look like they’re running in sand. If there’s a defender anywhere near a receiver it’s getting picked or batted, or receiver won’t come down with it.
There can be a defender 3 yards from a guy with an 88 “catch in traffic†rating, but he’ll drop a ball that hits him in the hands 3 out of 4 times. Or sometimes the receiver will have great separation, but when you throw to him the defender will magically close 5 yards on him in the blink of an eye and deflect the pass.
They’re trying to slow down the offensive attacks in several different ways, but offense is what makes the game fun. The algorithm will punish or reward you worse than ever based on if you make the decisions it wants you to.
Gone are the days that you felt like skill in the game could overcome going for a 4th and 3 that you shouldn’t, just because it’s fun. If you run the balanced offense that the almighty algorithm wants, and punt or take field goals when you should, then the game rewards you with success.
However, if you differ from what it deems as right then you don’t stand a CHANCE. Don’t you dare try to get pass happy or go for fourth downs in the wrong area of the field, because apparently video games shouldn’t be fun anymore.
I’ve been buying Madden every year from 92′. I know its not perfect and some gameplay aspects need work but it’s an overall solid football game. The presentation needs a major facelift. Stick skills are back finally, unlike last year when the CPU took over for you.
Animations are still the driving force in this game so I hope one day they will introduce physics behind them. The defense adjustments take some getting use to. But once you do, it becomes 2nd nature.
Alot of suction tackles and super human LB’s are gone, which is a good sign. It helps with the new passing trajectories. Yes the game is more than just a roster update. The QB1 is ok and great to see College football back, I’ve been back and forth between that mode and online ranked.
The controlling of players is very responsive and fun again. So now if you make mistakes on Defense, it’s you and same on Offense, Nothing feels better than picking off a Pass with your defender or controlling your receiver on offense when floating the ball.
It feels fun again and that’s the bottom line. It’s not perfect but it feels great to play with your favorite team and win. I hope this review helps with your decision.
The realism of the players’ movements have been significantly improved. The ability of the quarterback to run on the fly is a great addition. Also long passes take a while to develop. They are not automatic anymore.
The quarterback needs to spend time cocking his arm back and setting his feet before throwing which is the way it should be. The realism of the quarterbacks signature stats is a mixed bag e. g. the release speed of the ball according to the real stats of what quarterback you are playing with.
But then it seems to some extent you are not really playing the game. What I do not like is the blitzes seem to be problematic again. When there is a blitz it seems it should be easier to dump off the ball to a secondary receiver on a short pass for minimum yardage.
But now it seems the ball is likely to be intercepted or at least knocked away. And Why no cheerleaders. again? Who ever heard of a football game without cheerleaders? Is that because EA does not want to pay the union? I think they make enough money off these games that they can afford to pay the cheerleaders’ union.

I buy a madden game every handful of years. I’ve been playing madden 12 for the longest, finally got my hands on madden 17. thought it’s been about time to play a newer madden and Honestly it’s like they haven’t spent that much time developing or improving the game that much and this is 5 years later.
half the players still don’t looks like themselves, cheerleaders are still creepy looking. game play is about the same. QB throwing is the same, but in this game they seem to highlight the different ways to throw.
which you still throw like that in 12. You can’t just edit players like you want, which I hate and they seem to be more focused on the salary cap and space, which I also hate. Franchise mode is different, they separated it between players, head coaches, and owners.
which before in 12, you were all 3 in franchise mode. but one thing i like is you can now pick current players and just not rookies. but to update your ratings is tougher now, which can be a challenge.
another thing I like is that you have to earn your way to the top, just not a instant starter, but you do have that option. but in 12, your player is almost 99 in ratings before the end of your first year.
so that’s different. In 12 when playing against the defense you experience frog like secondary. Where linebackers seem to leap from nowhere to make a play, That’s no different in 17. Another thing I hate, in 17 they erased my favorite defensive play which was a man on man 3-4 odd linebacker spy.
I can’t even crate it in my own playbook. It’ the only defensive play I played too. the intros and celebrations in 12 are just about the same in 17 as well. so they haven’t spent much time on that in 5 years.
I would have to say that the overall loading of the game is faster though in 17. The graphics and the crowd of fans are better too. I like the way you perform field goals better in 17 a whole lot better in 12.
In 12, you just press A twice and adjust your direction and if the wind speed is high you have to take that in consideration, but too far left or too far right and you might miss it. in 17, they preview your kicking limitation and the direction of the wind, I happen to love that.
But Overall madden 17 makes me like madden 12 so much more. They really haven’t changed a whole lot in 5 years. It’s almost like they need to pass the baton to another company to spark some inspiration.
don’t believe me, play both games and see for yourself.
I’ve been playing Madden since 1991 on Sega Genesis. This is probably the best I’ve played of the series, but there’s still a ton of room for improvement. I love what they’ve done with the Connected Franchise mode and the addition of a Practice Squad as a means to help get rookies better while improving the team from within.
One major sticking point for me though, something I PRAY they improve for next year’s game is commentary. Playing this had me missing Nantz & Simms to no end. I never heard of Brandon Gaudin a day in my life before I picked up this game.
I’m familiar with Charles Davis. I’m not sure who wrote their respective scripts, but man, it was BAD. They’re not aware of which games are which (they pretty much call playoff games like they’re regular season games, even the SUPER BOWL which is embarassingly bad).
It was a nice touch to have them mention what your players have done in the previous week’s game and if they’ve either dropped off, picked up or stayed the same on a week to week basis. But they’re tone deaf to any actual moves by the franchises, as moving a team to Chicago will have them referencing the Bears not your team in the opening bit.
Overall, I do like this game and think it’s better than last year’s but it’s not without its hiccups.
Take your team all the way in Madden NFL 17 and put yourself at the center of your team’s Championship run. The all-new Turning Points challenge in Madden NFL 17 Ultimate Team drops you into hundreds of different scenarios from last year’s NFL season and rewards you based on how difficult your probability of success is.
New Gameplay strategy features allow you to lure the defense into a trap by calling a series of plays that will misdirect the D away from your true game plan. Change the offensive and defensive strategies on the fly to go aggressive or play it safe.
Madden NFL 17 brings together the most popular modes and award-winning gameplay features from this console generation. I would recommend this.

This game is awesome! I’ve (unfortunately) being playing Madden on the Wii for years now & enough was enough!. I went out & bought a second-hand X Box just so I could get this game. I was not disappointed, It’s brilliant! Great graphics & the game play is pretty smooth.
The best thing is that the AI is very good & it’s possible to set the difficulty level, so that it’s enjoyable without winning every game 75-0. Last second filed goals etc. My only criticism is that you have to pay (have a X BoX live account) to play on-line or draft players, but that’s not the game’s fault.
Also, the commentary is very repetitive. Hearing Charles Davis make the same jokes over & over again is NOT funny. But these are not big issues. but this game.
A fine made swan song for mighty ps3 I injoyed this 1 better on my ps3 over my xbox360 it just loads quicker and less having to download stuff all time it seems ps3 got that right were gates loves having us watch load screens.
Onto the game they didn’t just throw last yrs madden into box and say here’s yr new game like how EA DOES. Its a great play and only going up in value. 1 last thing all sports games seem to have finally hit rock bottom and some are worth alot of cash and trending up.
Look at ncaa 2013 and 2014. Or college basketball any of them on ps3 or Xbox 360. 2k7 2k8 ncaa or ncaa 08,09,10 FROM EA.

This is my husbands favorite PlayStation game EVER!! Half our marriage has been spent playing this game with me watching like it’s a real football game lol 😂 I’ve tried to play with him but I can’t figure it all out and he beats me every time unfortunately.
He enjoys more of a challenge while playing so he plays with random people online. We love football 🏈, Packers, and Madden NFL PlayStation games.
The graphics are solid. The gameplay is good. The tackles and catches are great from an animation standpoint. However its the little things in the game modes that keep this from being a great game. In franchise mode the scouting for the draft is set up very well.
I think its a great thing that you have busts and hidden diamonds that require you to really scout players. However the drafts themselves are all over the board in terms of talent. You might have a draft with hardly any good players at multiple positions whereas there might be 20 good middle linebackers.
That isn’t realistic and hurts the entire draft process. The way you progress your players also hurts a bit. They made it very difficult to get experience in comparison to past titles. Especially on the defensive side of the ball.
You better make sure you either get very good players or young guys that are already a Superstar in terms of progression. I like the concept that they done with in-game drive goals giving you extra experience.
It needed to be tweaked because its pretty dumb for you to lose experience because your goal was to run the ball 4 times and you scored a touchdown on the first carry. When you accomplish something better than the task it should automatically award you the experience.
But the game is enjoyable and well worth the price now that it is no longer a new release. For $10 with the option to update the roster its well worth it.
Let me start by saying that I went into this year’s Madden with an open mind after reading some positive reviews and doing research of my own on the game. I should have expected it to be what I thought it might be, but I gave it a shot.
To my dissatisfaction, I found out the hard way to not trust the developer of the Madden titles as well as the publisher, EA. Same crap, different year. Graphics? PS3 with some lighting and higher resolution.
Gameplay? Tight and responsive as it should be. However, the presentation needs vast amounts of improvement if I’m to ever look at purchasing another Madden game. The commentary is awful. You’ll quickly become annoyed when you’re hearing them repeat themselves time and time again.
Stadiums have no life. The stadiums and low resolution, poorly textured, thrown together dumps. My Colt’s Lucas Oil Stadium looks particularly bad. The crowds don’t react well to the actual flow of the game, they are often out of sync with touchdowns and flags, etc.
The UI flows well, but looks dated and unimaginative. Much like the overall product. Animation one of the worst aspect of the game. Player models are stiff and lifeless. In conclusion, if you’re interested in Madden 16, think twice and watch some gameplay from an external source before committing.
Mightsave you some time and money.

Not what I was hoping for in a next gen madden game (PS5). Especially one that was so hyped up and a tribute to the great madden himself. Pros – graphics are good, game play motion is smoother and the new passing mechanics give more control.
Cons – unfortunately there are more cons than pros. The animations are still very generic, tracking is choppy, the AI on defense is much tighter, franchise mode is way too cluttered and over done. I can see the attempt to overhaul and try to make improvements but a lot seems rushed and redundant.
Overall it’sa fun game and I am enjoying it. I just don’t feel the improvements and see the quality I was expecting. Especially at the next gen price point.
I don’t mean to be harsh on the title, but EA has been so lazy with their Madden franchise that has gotten stagnant and stale. It’s quite obvious they only care about their cash cow their Ultimate Team mode and could care less about actually giving their users good NFL gameplay.
Current Gen is a better version than the last gen versions but not by much and not enough to warrant the cost. Get this on a sale and enjoy your slightly better tackling heavily animation dictated game / glorified roster update.
Otherwise just stick to Madden 22 and wait for 24 to hopefully be better. (Spoiler: It won’t. ).

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my nephew. After looking for the best deal at various stores, Walmart’s pricing was 25. 00 less than their competitors. As for the game itself, it’s not perfect but one of the better Maddens in recent years.
Madden 18 may not be perfect in all areas of the game, but it’s a solid game that keeps improving. Commentary, presentation and graphics are better than ever before. EA’s Frostbite engine may not have been implemented as well as it could have been, but for a first year effort, it’s a solid foundation that should improve.
The PS4 Pro enhancements truly change this game for the better. Having a solid 60 frames per second on 1080P resolution and amazingly clear HDR graphics on 4K televisions truly makes a ton of difference over 17 and previous years.
Franchise hasn’t seen a lot of improvements come its way, but its minor fixes to commentary and menu quirks perfect what was already there. Here’s hoping for an overhaul in 19. Longshot is a surprisingly fun story mode that ends far too soon.
I honestly hope an NFL-based sequel that uses your save data from Madden 18 will be added next year, instead of a completely new story with new characters. All things considered, this is a solid game that, in spite of its imperfections, does a lot to emulate what fans see on Sundays.
It could be better. But what’s there is certainly admirable, and hopefully it continues to improve next season under Frostbite.
Well, this football game in my opinion is the 2nd best Madden game EA Sports has made to date. The only series for this game that’s better to me was Madden 25 in which I still have but it’s for PS3. The graphics & interactions with Madden 18 is really good.
The gameplay with the new passing targeting scheme is so much better than past versions. The game actually plays like a real football game should play. There is one bug in which EA Sports will probably release a patch to fix.
It’s when you’re editing a player. If you don’t wait until the player model shows when editing the game freezes. I’m sure EA Sports will get a patch issued to correct this problem. Other than that this again is a very good Madden game.
The 2nd best to me ever made. Great graphics & the players actually look real when interacting when blocking, running, etc. The “Longshot” story mode(3rd photo pictured below) is a nice addition to the game as well.
Thanks.
Madden has consistenly been pushing MUT rather than franchise. This is frustrating because MUT is a pay to win online game. Sure you can play for free, but you have to invest a ton of time to be competitive.
The actual gameplay is good for the most part with the exceptions (again, some bugs here and there). Overall, it’s a fun game and I like playing franchise mode, but t.

Making the jump from 360 to XB1 is noticeable, and will take some time to adjust if you’ve been a long time player whose grown accustomed to the mechanics of last gen Madden. Player animations are more fluid, faces actually match most well known players, and the passing/running have received minor facelifts that will improve gameplay.
Defense has improved in the trenches, but the minigame for D-Lineman grows stale after the first couple playthroughs and you’ll probably go back to usering the safeties or Mike linebacker. Ultimate Team has improved almost every facet of It’s system, but at the same time the mode really does come down largely to putting in extra money into a dice roll with Pro Packs.
The oversaturation of 99 overall players really bogged down previous modes so a more balanced overall squad is fairer, yet comes at the cost of no longer having the pleasure of having your 99 overall Manning throwing to 99 Jerry Rice and 99 Calvin Johnson.
Connected Careers is where the game feels less revamped and more painted over. The issues surrounding a stale superstar mode have remained for generations, while NBA 2K14 Introdcued Player storylines and incentives for playing, Madden remains a boring single player storyless RPG exp grinding bore, with absolutely mindless AI teammates making the mode borderline unplayable when controlling just a player.
Coach mode remains the same balanced game you had the since 25, with the occasional free agency bug or early retirement to keep you on your toes. Owner mode remains a good idea, but really turns out to be a watered down Madden 2012 Franchise mode, that has taken out as many good features as it has added.
What happened to retired players coming back to be coaches? What happened to being able to edit player overalls and rookies physical attributes? Instead we have a pointless hot dog price control that we never see the benefits outside worthless virtual owner mode currency.
Also, if you mismanage contracts you’ll be left completely bankrupt cap wise, and without an actual intuitive wealth control system you just have to retire your owner and start anew. Also one pressing issue is the dearth of equipment additions over the past half decade.
NCAA Franchise had single arm sleeves and actual Nike Gloves since 2011. Madden has yet to include the gear shown on Richard Sherman on the actual cover of the game, an issue overlooked by the art department for years now.
AP and Arian Foster just don’t look right without pacifier mouthpieces, but that still hasn’t been addressed even with AP being on the cover of one of the games. Interceptions are still broken, but that does seem kind of important so It’s okay to cut EA some slack for failing to implement on something mastered ten years ago with 2k5.
Tall receivers have become more utilized but true jump balls won’t be a marquee feature until madden 18 if were following EA’s development timelines.
Here’s an issue with these SERIES games, instead of just making the graphics better, and keeping the same game play, they went and made this particular game worse. I like to play seasons. You can’t even do that and be able to play on both sides of the ball.
You can only either play as the coach or as a single player. Major FAIL by EA Sports on this one. Although the graphics are surreal, having a one sided contest just doesn’t work for me. I want to play the whole game, not have half of it as simulated in the season.
The stand alone just jump in and play game has this feature. And I’d love it, but it’s not a season. I want to play the season. Previous versions even had the contracts to be negotiated, the bids on who is going to sponsor the stadium, the ability to upgrade stadiums, so many great features.
Maybe all this is due to the extra pixels in each sq in of the screen. but I don’t think so. Please EA Sports, bring back a real functional game that is easy to set up and great to play. As it is, I get bored watching the other team score on my #1 defense, and can’t figure out why they do it, since there is nothing other than the lines going up and down the field showing me I just got scored on.
How much time I have spent obsessing over my teams in this game is actually almost upsetting. This is by far the best Madden game I’ve played on the Wii. It being the only platform I have does bring the best gameplay and team management to the table than ever before.
The franchise really stays true to the design of the game with a few additions of game modes, including mini games based around the mini-camp games from previous Madden releases, 5-on-5 games, and others.
This game itself (Madden 12) was known for dramatically changing two key points of the franchise mode by making the rating of players more hidden during the draft, expanding the roster space for the preseason to 63 for player development and management, a bidding war for free agents and an overall more involved management involvement.
THIS is where the Wii version falls short. Though there are definitely improvements in the franchise mode for even the Wii and the game itself is very much entertaining and worth playing, the only one of the additions that were adopted completely by the Wii version is the free agent bidding style.
However, the off-season improvements are completely lost in this version of the game. In fact, the preseason is lost all together and the free agent signing, NFL draft, and roster management are all compartmentalized into separate events.
Compared to the game on the other platforms, this game does fall short. But if you don’t compare it to the game on other platforms and view it for just what it is the game is still tremendously enjoyable for any Madden fans who only own a Wii.
This game like many others is not overtly difficult and would also be enjoyable for football fans that are looking to enter the Madden franchise.

The last Madden I played was 2010, for the most part, the gameplay is unchanged from the Madden 10, however there are some key variations that make the experience much more enjoyable. On its standard settings, a single 4 quarter game can be played in about 30 to 40 minutes in Madden 12.
Madden 10 (because of the halftime graphics, and other heavy nonsense) bogged the single gametime down to 45 minutes to an hour minimum. In a given sitting, now you can knock out 2 or 3 games comfortably, versus 1 to 2 games uncomfortably (this is my opinion).
Play calling is slightly more “automated”. You can still pull up a full playbook as in the past, but the quick options for plays are to go with your “Gameplan” or a “Run” or a “Pass” play. These plays are generated in a similar way the Madden Suggests a few plays in the Playbook.
On Defense I typically just pick the Gameplan, and on Offense I typically do the same with some minimal variation – it is very easy to call audibles, and change hot routes on the fly, so I find myself customizing the plays as I go, and not relying on the base plays all the time.
I’ve mostly played Franchise, but have played some Superstar and that mode is improved as well – instead of a Superstar perspective while playing, it matches other game modes. I’ve only played as a QB though.
Long story short, I think this is the best iteration of Madden yet. The scouting in Franchise mode is altered – makes it more difficult to scout more guys, but it also makes it more manageable and less cumbersome.
Also, in Franchise mode there are now expanded rosters during offseason and pre-season. So feel free to draft a lot of rookies, and then just cut them as you go along (in the past in order to draft rookies you’d have to cut guys currently on your roster in order to sign them – no more).
I was super hesitant to buy this game because of the early reviews it got from people but it really is pretty great. The Gameplay quality, appearance and flow is better than it ever has been. The total control passing takes getting used to and will piss you off for a while but once you understand how to use it correctly it makes the game feel legit and not repetitive.
My only complaint is the same main complaint so many people have had. Franchise mode is now Career mode. It is a cool take on it, I like the model but so much customization and little practical things arent there.
You cannot edit anything, you cant simulate entire seasons(week by week is painful when you are scratching a year for the draft) and the worst thing is you can’t go back and look at scouting reports on players once you get to the draft.
So if I scout 5 SS’s and one of them has the “star” development rating I better remember who that was if I save and come back to it later. Once you advance to the stage where the draft takes place you can only view your draft board and the subsequent ratings you unlocked that are numbered ratings.
None of the traits, tendencies and the all important development rating are shown. As the updates have come down though they have made good changes to the flow of the operation side of the game which is where I see any and all problems.
I broke down and decided to try Madden again, I had not tried it in a couple of years, and really, all that has happened is that the in-game play is better, though some of the physics on the player interactions is awful.
And, no more franchise mode! Hell yea, that is what I want, a game that has less features than the old ones! It has combined the franchise mode and the create a player into one, a Connected Careers mode, that essentially dumbs down the franchise mode.
You cannot play any other games, only the game that your team is playing. You can’t change player positions, even though there are players that have had their positions changed from Madden 12 to 13, like Shawne Merriman, he was a linebacker a few years ago, and he was switched to defensive end, but you can’t change him back to linebacker if you wanted to.
I can understand not allowing this for the online content, but if it is in offline mode, I should be able to do whatever I want. I feel that EA is just gearing up to release a new Head Coach game, and make it so you have to own both to be able to play games that your team have to play or something along those lines, because MONEY.
And SAVE YOUR GAME OFTEN!!! You are prone to have your xbox hard lock when you go into Depth Chart, the recent patches have helped, but it is still buggy.

Reviews From Real Customers
Compared to my four-year old Madden, there are definitely improvements in gameplay and graphics. Although the story is a basic, I like the addition of creating your own player and bringing him through high school, college and to the pros.
The trend it seems in the last couple of years with these get to the pro stories though is that you continue on with your trip to the pros, no matter how you perform in the high school and college portion of the game.
I did well in that portion of Madden 21, so I dont know how the game reacts if you fail in the early portion of your career, but I do hope it reflects your performance and is not like my NBA2K game, in which I performed terribly in the start of my career, yet the story continued on with my being the next big phenom.
I felt fairly comfortable with the game controls, although there are some slight changes that have taken me some time to get used to. For the most part, the gameplay feels smoother though, although not perfect as there are some occasional annoyances.
The coach suggestions dont seem to be improved much for play calling. The graphics are sharp and look really good, although there is some room for improvement. Maybe it is because this is a transition year to the PS5 and the big graphics jump will be in the next years version.
The player modeling and stadiums look pretty good though. Even the pregame show and halftime stuff makes me feel like I am watching a real game. The game commentary is good and varied, although gets repetitive over time.
The sounds of the game are realistic and really bring you into the game. Big hits really sound like big hits now. The game feels more balanced offensively/defensively with a good running and passing game and a smarter defense, at least in comparison to my old Madden game.
The kicking feels smoother compared to 17, which had glitches in the aiming mechanism. There is still some room for improvement for a smarter AI. Some things seem neglected, such as the franchise mode.
The soundtrack is ok, but I personally turn the music down as it is annoying at times. I hate that EA kicks you out of the game, even in solo game mode or eye of the franchise if you lose EA server connection.
Seriously EA? In the middle of a game, I lose connection to EA and it takes me back to the main menu and forces me to start the game over as it doesnt save your progress. Very frustrating. Granted, this series is in need of some major updates as there are only incremental changes each year and that seems to be the case here as well.
The game is still fun and has some improvements that makes it worth paying 20 to make the jump after 4 years, but I would not shell out full price for the game year after year either, for the incremental updates.
I hate the network issue kicking you out of games, even playing solo/eye of the franchise. The game is fun, but hampered by its online requirements and unstable EA connection, making it 3 stars instead of 4.
Madden tends to get a ton of hate. This review is more for the PS5 version of the game. Player animations seem to be more realistic and they feel more “weighted. ” Graphics aren’t wildly different vs PS4, but they are more detailed and lighting is very good.
The use of the haptics in the dualsense controller is a really nice touch that adds to the experience. I’ve played this game with the Sony platinum headset and a Dolby Atmos home theater. Both experiences are great with the new 3D sound engine that EA is using.
Gameplay is good and I find the simulation mode the most fun way to play. People are upset about the lack of attention that franchise mode gets and I understand that. If that’s a mode you enjoy, you have every right to be upset.
MUT is going to continue to get the attention because it is the constant revenue stream. That being said, I mainly stick to just playing the computer or friends. And for $30, I’m ok with the price to enjoyment ratio.
Superstar KO is fun every now and then. I haven’t touched the yard yet, but I suppose it is fun here or there. Ultimately, this is madden and you know what you are getting. A good game of football that feels a little long in the tooth for long time fans.
Big step in the right direction. Long time hater of EA, dare I say it, starting to play more like NFL 2K used to. Not saying it’s NFL 2k. but finally the player movement is more realistic, speed is not the only stat that matters, don’t expect to throw in that 50-60 rated 4th string guy and run for 200 yards.
Defense requires strategy, something missing from madden for a long time. If you think you can just press and call cover 3/4/9 etc. and cover the run and pass effectively think again, you now have to play chess, commit to stopping run or pass.
not both. As for the next-gen upgrade in presentation/graphics, it’s a small improvement over the Xbox One and PS4 version, the graphics are already very good, so not sure how much of an improvement we can really get there.
The stadiums look good, the sun and shadows look great in all the stadiums. Weather is basically a non-factor, so that’s an area that could be improved on. Overall I think it’s moving in the right direction and i’m actually really enjoying the game, much better than the Xbox One and PS4 versions in my opinion.
Oh and I’ve been playing madden since 1989!.

Ok so i like this game but madden 2002 is a better option if your a hardcore gamer person, in 2002 the ui is much simpler in 2007 its a little more complicated and for my first time playing it was a good but confusing game.
only buy this if you know how to madden good ui is kind of complicated.
Exceeded all of my expectations. Brand new, in the box, works without a single kink. Ive had the original game since 08 and it was obviously starting to fail. I didnt even catch that this game I ordered was brand new.
No blemishes on the disc. It works so fn much better and I can play 2 games in the time it took to play one before.

Madden has dominated the sports gaming community for so long, and their monopoly is holding back from innovating the game. Commentary before, during, and at half time are terrible and repetitive. Games out of the 2K studio have proven that sport games can have amazing, random, and engaging commentary.
They are the gold standard. A lot of features have either been lowered to a very low standard, or taken completely out. Franchise mode fades and becomes extremely reparative within a few hours of playing, and Madden Untimate Team (MUT) is nearly distorted by pay to win gaming.
The UI is a confusing mess; this is especially true in MUT. Gameplay itself has not improved or changed in 4 years, and graphics are below standard. Loading times have improved however, so waiting for games to start and menus to load saw a significant improvement.
This is the best feature of Madden 19 Overall, I think EA Sports needs to look back at Madden 06 and bring back the amazing Superstar mode, and also take note that the game has only changed in aesthetics since.
I would skip this iteration of Madden, and spend your money on a more developed game.
Like tons, I have been a Madden player for decades. Like fewer, I only play in Franchise Mode, generally offline. Hence generally speaking to Franchise Mode. EA slowly improved FRANCHISE mode — this season is the same, touch-ups mostly, as at the core it still is the same and lacks in handling of player contracts, namely no 1st rounder 5 year extensions, tenders, still the really DUMB system that spreads resigns out over the coarse of the REGULAR season, no contract restructuring, no restricted FA handling AT ALL.
The only recourse is the player editor allows you just deal with it, but that really sucks. On the good side, the NEW Draft Class Editor. that is very cool if that your thing. I see it was a way to allow users to overcome flaws in the game draft-class degradation that effected previous titles.
so OK, new editor, uses have at it! Overall the same is very good. Great if you are NEW to Madden. Like always, some bugs to be worked out. Game play is fun! I stopped upgrading ever year — not enough value –so this is a two-year upgrade for me.
I appreciate many of the new features with the new engine from last year, but still mostly tweaks/fixes functionally speaking, Hence I would be nearly as content had I waited another year. What NEW do I get out of Franchise Mode –basically an editor.
Overall, if are new to MADDEN, is a 5-start game (bugs aside). If you are long-timer, it’s a cool and all. As a Steeler fan, had to get it with AB on the cover!.
Pretty run of the mill Madden experience. If you like previous version of Madden you’ll like this. If previous versions of Madden left you wanting more, this likely will too. The run controls have been changed, otherwise controls are fairly similar to previous versions.
I don’t do all of the MUT junk and I know that’s the appeal for a lot of people, so you may enjoy this version more than I do. The whole thing has a new menu setup, which makes it feel fresh as compared to previous years.
Still suffers from some bugginess in gameplay at times (threw a bullet pass on a out route immediately into his break and receiver kept running out of bounds despite plenty of room to turn up field).
There are new offensive and defensive schemes and additional depth chart positions, which is a nice bonus. The visuals are mostly improved over previous years, still some odd ugliness here and there.
The commentary is stale since most of it is exactly the same as Madden 18. Overall, not bad, not great, about what you’d expect at this point.

Great game. It is very smooth and the graphics are excellent. I don’t like the way access to the playbook is setup. It is quite different than the Playstation 3 version. I prefer the PS 3 version when it comes to accessing the playbook.
It is easier to scroll through the different options than the PS 4 version. On the PS3, the recent plays selection will contain every play that you used during the game. On the PS 4 version, it will only keep a handful of the most recent plays.
Madden 16 is great and a lot of fun to play. The problem is that you may need to play a lesser experience level to begin with, because the gameplay has changed drastically from Madden 15. There are options for different catch types (aggressive, RAC, and a third that causes the player to focus specifically on making the catch; falling to the ground as soon as the catch is made).
The pluses are that the graphics have improved and there is less load time. I would definitely recommend buying!!.

I absolutely love madden 21. The introduction of the X-factor ability is amazing and it makes a big difference on crucial downs. Many people have been complaining about the game play and some of the things the players do, so I’m just going to sum it up for you.
If you are going to play online, this game will really separate those who are good at this game and those who should probably find another Game they are good at. There are a lot more mechanics involved and you need to have at least some skill to beat people.
In mut h2h, overall matters a little, but if u are really good at lirking and forcing fumbles, you can virtually beat anyone. Not if u have a really trash team though. I wish there would be more close referee calls and more frequent booth reviews and chances to challenge, especially in mut and online h2h.
Also, when it says instant replay is available shortly after the play in online mode, it really is never available. The graphics are a bit behind as well, but other than that the game meets my satisfaction in every way.
EA did a good job with this one.
This review is for the PS5 upgrade only! Having sworn Madden off a few years back, I figured a new console gen would be a good time to jump back in (not to mention the sale price). The good news is that this is the best gameplay the series has put out in years, so if you’re craving video game football you can’t go wrong.
As usual the mode that gets the most play is MUT, and it is the very definition of a pay to win game mode. It’s a shame since the mode itself can be quite fun if you are a “no money spent” player like myself, but the micro transactions can be frustrating if you let them.
In short, this is a meaningful upgrade if you’re coming from last year’s game since gameplay has been overhauled for the new consoles. If you’re a former Madden fan like myself who has grown disillusioned with the series, right now is a great time to jump back in.
Hopefully this will represent a turnaround for the series and the dev team can continue to push gameplay forward for the first time in a LONG time. Color me pleasantly surprised.

In light of recent games, this is one of the better Maddens out there. The gameplay is outstanding, Franchise Mode is as addictive as can be and one of the most immersive experiences you’ll see in an NFL game.
Soundtrack is pretty good, which was standard for EA at this time. To any and all who find themselves plain disgusted by the current state of Madden, the mid 00s of Madden are your answer. 09 follows the critically acclaimed 08 with Player Weapons that don’t make folks over powered in a bad way.
For the full Franchise experience, play NCAA 09 and export the draft classes off of Dynasty. You end up with a far more balanced draft where you can find pretty good players in the middle to later rounds than if you go with the Madden drafts which are usually top heavy to my recollection.
Overall, Madden 09 is a great game. Get it with NCAA 09. The Franchise/Dynasty Modes were outstanding.
Madden 2001 for the PlayStation 2 is the best iteration of the game we’ve ever seen. EA Sports has delivered just about everything a fan of the series could hope for, and while it focuses on technical and simulation elements a bit more than the other games on the market, the game stays true to the Madden name.
The game has more features and options than any other Madden game before. It includes all of the fundamental options, like exhibition and season modes, and all of the in-depth options, like franchise, create-a-player, and Madden challenges.
The Madden challenges have a bit more to them this year, since the completion of each one earns you tokens, which you can use like money in the game. You can purchase special items like cheats, secret players, and teams.
You can even use the tokens, with the help of a couple of memory cards, as currency to wager with when challenging another player. The Madden challenge cards, which are displayed when you buy items, were made in conjunction with Upper Deck and look like really cool digital trading cards.
They add a whole new incentive for playing the game and completing the Madden challenges. The control in Madden 2001 is pretty much just like any that of any other Madden game, although some will find the overall feel of the game a bit too slow and unresponsive.
The game uses a momentum-based physics engine, which is supposed to make the gameplay all the more real. The only problem is that it plays a bit too real – players have to literally stop their momentum when making a change in the direction they’re running, just like in real life.
This, while physically correct, just doesn’t translate into fast-paced, hard-hitting football action. Instead, it causes the reaction time of a controller command to be a tad too slow, leaving the game feeling a bit sluggish.
In time, you do learn to accommodate for this, and the effect isn’t nearly so bad. The AI of the game will surely to seem familiar to fans of the series, particularly those who’ve played this year’s PlayStation version.
The AI’s easiest setting will let you get away with a lot and teaches you early on that the game is all about knowing your team’s plays and your players’ abilities. Knowing which players to go to will help you blow the doors off the computer on the lower skill settings, but once you start to move up, you’d better have more than just a few tricks up your sleeve.
Visually, Madden 2001 on the PlayStation 2 is unsurpassed in its detail and polish. The game is almost perfect in its visual replication of the fields and players of the NFL. The textures used for the fields, jerseys, and skin of the players is incredible.
Grass fields look just like real grass, which can actually get lodged in the corner of a player’s facemask after he sinks his head into the soil after a missed dive tackle. During the game’s replays, you can actually see the individual bumps of the pigskin on the football.
All of these little visual details really make the game look and feel real. For instance, line judges will hastily drop the line markers and move out of the way when players run out of bounds in their direction.
The animations of the players themselves are extremely fluid and realistic. The players move and perform stiff arms, catches, and tackles quite authentically. The multiple point collision detection system of the game allows the tackles in the game to look more realistic and be based more on individual situations than ever before.

Reviews From Real Customers
I’ve been a Madden player for years, ever since Eddie George was on the cover! Every year, there’s an element of disbelief. Those “yeah, right” moments, I like to call them. But this year, it’s either physically full of glitches, or those “yeah right” moments are simply over-the-top.
Examples of such instances are opposing RB’s being able to hurdle the entire OLine, DB’s coming from a full-on blitz, to being able to intercept your pass on a simple “GO-route. ” My favorite. and yes, this actually happened.
having a player that was not even in the play, much less ON THE FIELD, get injured on the play. I kid you not. I ran a standard 2TE, 2WR, 1RB formation/play on the 1st play from scrimmage in a game as DAL.
Obviously Elliott is their RB. After the play, there’s a timeout for injury to Tavon Austin. who was NOT ON THE FIELD!! How is that possible? I sincerely wish EA would simply just have it to where you can keep a game of your choosing.
for instance Madden 18, which I loved. and simply charge a fee to upgrade/update your rosters. which let’s face it, that’s all the new Madden is every year anyways. But I feel with each year, they also make frustrating & stupid “updates” that do nothing really for the overall gameplay.
If I could somehow get updated 2018/19 rosters for the Madden 18 video game, I’d never have purchased this version of the game.
Conclusion
Gold players in Madden Mobile 17 are some of the best in the game. They have great speed, agility, and strength. However, they are not invincible. They can be beaten by faster, more agile players.
Sharing is caring!
