Glue is used to adhere the laminate to the kitchen cabinets. It is important to use the right type of glue and to follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully to ensure a good bond.
If you need to bond a synthetic material such as melamine, vinyl, Formica etc or even metals to a porous substrate like wood, particleboard or MDF then you need Titebond Melamine Glue. It offers a fast initial tack, yet has a longer 5-minute open time that allows for the accurate alignment of working materials.
Titebond Melamine Glue is a water-based adhesive that is non-flammable, has low odour, dries clear and cleans up with water. Its thicker formulation offers fewer runs and drips, making it easier to use and more effective for precise assemblies.
Designed for interior use only, this exceptional glue forms a bond stronger than the substrate itself.
Solvent or water-based adhesives available in a variety of open times, these useful adhesives are usually rolled, brushed or sprayed on the two surfaces to be bonded and allowed to dry to the touch. Substrates bond almost instantly when the surfaces are Reaching a minimum of 1,000-psi overlap shear strength, 3M Structural Adhesives are designed to bond the load-bearing parts of products.
Does not work very well / does not stick very well. I tried this because I can’t handle the VOC’s in standard adhesives anymore. If you are like me, and need to use this, some tips to help: Before opening, shake the contents very well for at least 5 to 10 minutes (this stuff like to separate, so shake it well), apply heavy with a brush or roller to both materials to be bonded together, hit it with a hair dryer for a few minutes, wait about an hour, then apply a second coat, hit it with a hair dryer again for a few minutes, wait about an hour, stick the parts together and keep them pressed together for about a day.
Then put somewhere in a warm dry environment (about 80deg F) for a few days to 2 weeks. That’s what I had to do to get it to stick together. After that, it seems pretty well stuck.
This stuff is water based, so it washes off easily, but once it dries, you either rub it off or wipe it away with a cloth soaked with lacquer thinner. Works wicked well for gluing synthetic fabrics to solid structures and other fabrics.
Paint it on the structure with a China bristle brush and let it dry. It’s then like a Post-it note so you can reposition the fabric until you get it exactly right, then rub it down to stick it in place and iron it with a 250 degree F iron to lock it.
Oh no, I screwed it up again! No big deal, just peel it off and try again: rub & iron. Then paint some more Fastbond over the top of the joint and wipe away any excess with a good paper towel before it dries.
After an hour or so, iron it down at 250 to lock it all together, then paint over it with a water borne paint, if you wish. Good stuff!.
First time user so we decided to use the “green” version to assure product was ready for contact. There is no odor to this product. Product was used in a confined space (rear berth of a sailboat)to adhere vinyl liner to the sides of the vessel.
Easy to apply with brush or roller. Went on blue dried green in about 30 minutes. Easy cleanup if you don’t let it dry, otherwise use mineral spirits. Throw away brushes and roller covers, it’s not worth trying to clean up.
Product worked as advertised and I would strongly recommend for use where odor from normal contact cement is unacceptable. Hardware Hut beat all prices.

5. Titebond III ProJug (2.15gal)
Bonds with wood
Adhesive cleans up with water and is unaffected by finishes
From Franklin of USA, described as an APP (Advanced Proprietary Polymer), Titebond III has been formulated as a dedicated wood glue to give you the ease of application of aliphatic/PVAs and the water resistance of polyurethane glues.
Making an exceptionally strong bond on wood-to-wood joints, it has longer open time and higher viscosity than conventional PVAs and will maintain integrity at lower application temperatures. All of which makes for easier and less fraught assembly procedures.
Polyurethane glue has undoubted flexibility of use and massive strength but is a very persistent adhesive, difficult to clean up from equipment and particularly hands. Titebond III has been designed to give you the strength of wood-to-wood bonds without the problems.
It cleans up with water whilst wet, sands off without softening when fully cured, is unaffected by finishes, solvent and heat and is mildew resistant. It is suitable for interior and exterior use. Please shake bottle well before use.
Titebond III Ultimate wood glue has been independently tested for lead, cadmium and other metals under ASTM F963 and 16 CFR 1303 (total lead content). These are the testing methods specified for toy safety under the U.
S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. It has also reviewed by an independent toxicologist and conforms to ASTM D4236 for art and craft materials.
Finally back in stock, it’s exactly what we’ve been looking for. We’ve always used the glue as it’s the best but this is its best format I’d say. Super easy to use and very clean, which is key to its operation.
The best all around glue for cabinet making to outdoor project. The only complain I have about that glue, it is a bit drippy and you need to clean up a bit than normal pva. The color, when dry, is brownish and blend well with darker wood and cherry.
Titebond Translucent Wood Glue is designed for general household and woodworking projects. It provides a virtually invisible glue line and bonds stronger than the wood. A strong tack and fast speed of set helps reduce clamp time.
When dry this wood glue is unaffected by finishes and sands easily. Also ideal for craft projects and is easy to use, non-toxic and cleans up with water. It is specifically designed for wood, particleboard, hardboard, leather, cloth and most other porous materials.
It is a virtually invisible glue line fast set, strong bond, excellent heat resistance and safe no solvent vapors.
Titebond Polyurethane Glue is a breakthrough in adhesive technology. It is the only polyurethane glue to combine a long 30-minute working time with a short 45-minute clamp time*. It is a versatile, professional-strength glue specifically formulated for multi-purpose applications.

Works great. Installed new door leather inserts on my 2007 Ford Mustang and the job went great. Tacks up nicely in 5 minutes, and allows for some repositioning as necessary. Looks to be a strong bond.
I bought this because of the advertised resistance to heat. Time will tell if that’s true in our hot climate, but so far the car looks great.
this is my first time replacing a headliner. shopped around a lot and this was the best deal on adhesive i found. worked great. this stuff is not without a learning curve, but i had no problems. 3 cans is perfect for a nissan exterra.
yes i wish i had started with a smaller car. however i got a great result.

Complies with EN204 Type D1 ideal for indoor jobs.
I bought this to attach moulding to some home made MDF cupboard doors and it did the job perfectly. The glue is very good. The only problem I have is with the bottle it comes in. The cap has a small twist up nozzle that allows you to squeeze out a small and accurate bead of glue, however it takes some pressure to do this.
When I first tried it the whole cap came off and a large dollop of glue dropped onto the door. I thought I must have loosened the cap somehow, and so scraped up the excess back into the bottle and reattached the cap tightly.
Then the same thing happened again. Not wanting to get caught a third time, since then I’ve been unscrewing the cap and putting a small, controlled, dollop of glue on each piece and spreading it out as needed with a palette knife.
It’s probably just that I got unlucky with this bottle, but thought I’d add a warning here to take care until you’re sure the cap will hold.
I am a useless DIY-er and hate having to do practical jobs (I can create two more jobs from any one job I tackle) but I needed a wood glue for a list of home DIY items that her-indoors was becoming annoyed about; so I asked a tame decorator for advice and he suggested Evostick.
I bought a 500 ml “bottle” from Screwfix (excellent Covid-managed service!), did all the jobs very carefully, and it worked perfectly. Cleaning up with a damp cloth was easy, and while the glue is white on application it did indeed turn invisible when dry.
Pefect jobs; glue was rock hard in 24 hours; and lots of brownie points from her-indoors. Two people happy now.
I have been using Evo Stick wood glue for many years. It’s a reliable product, easy to work with and produces excellent results every time. It also has a good shelf life which is a bonus if you don’t use it often and have it kicking around for a few years.
My only gripe is that the nozzle is a poor design needing cleaning between uses as the residue in the nozzle can go hard.

Formulated from Titebond Original, this professional quality adhesive will give the same reliability of bond and more. A true Aliphatic Resin emulsion, Extend has been formulated to allow a longer joint open time making it the ideal choice for work on complicated assemblies or when laminating several pieces.
Developing a bond stronger than the wood itself Extend Wood Glue is also stiffer and more heat resistant in the fully cured state than Titebond III and most other PVA and Aliphatic Resins – making it most suitable for laminations in shaped work as well as interior applications that are likely to beexposed to higher than normal temperatures [kitchens, fire surrounds, radiator covers, airing cupboards etc.
] Open Time: 15 mins approx Assembly time: 20 – 25 mins approx Not suitable for exterior joinery or work that is to be immersed.
Worked as advertised. Needed extra time to get mitered joints on a cabinet lined up and clamped. The T Titebond Extend Wood Glue gave me that time. I had tried Tightbond III previously with the understanding that it gave a bit of additional time, the bit really wasn’t much at all.
Yellow sticky stuff with a longer extend time than some other yellow sticky stuff. It sticks wood together. Slower. How well? – Ask me in 10 years time
Excellent glue. Dries very hard and easy to chip or trim excess off. Sands well also. My only concern is the drying time is still too short for what I hoped for. Admittedly it is pretty warm at the moment but I was hoping for a bit longer.
Quick bonding industrial-grade glue with the consistency of water helps seal, strengthen and stabilize cracks and repair fragile materials. Includes precision microtips, applicator caps and clog-free stopper.

RapidFuse all-purpose adhesive provides a fast-setting, professional-strength, clear bond that is stronger than polyurethane glues and without the expanding foam or dripping glue. Bonds virtually everything including plastic, wood, rubber, metal, ceramics, glass, fabric, stone, tile and more.
Sets in 30 seconds and cures in 30 minutes – no clamps required. 40 minute open time. Soap and water cleanup before cure, after cure use mineral spirits or scrape. Water resistant formula is ideal for both interior and exterior use.
You use it up ASAP! I use this occasionally for minor repairs around the house. I purchased this bottle last spring and 1/2 of the contents, despite being tightly closed and stored at room temperature, have hardened and is unusable.
Economically it doesnt make sense to pay for product that you cannot fully use. Is there a way to loosen this up or do I just toss it? Im very disappointed and very unfortunate as this is an excellent adhesive.
Proven performance over ordinary super glues. Works faster and holds stronger on more surfaces than other instant bond adhesives. For use on textiles, wood, china, ceramic, rubber, paper, metal, most plastics, and more.
Glue is an important part of any kitchen cabinet laminate project. It is responsible for holding the laminate in place and creating a strong bond between the laminate and the substrate. There are many different types of glue available on the market, so it is important to choose the right one for your project.
Water-based glue is the most common type of glue used for kitchen cabinet laminate projects. It is easy to use and clean up, and it dries quickly. However, it is not as strong as other types of glue and may not provide the best bond.
Solvent-based glue is another popular choice for kitchen cabinet laminate projects. It is more durable than water-based glue and creates a stronger bond. However, it can be more difficult to work with and may require special ventilation.
Polyurethane glue is the strongest type of glue available and is often used in commercial applications. It creates an incredibly strong bond and is very difficult to remove once it dries. However, it is also very expensive and can be difficult to work with.
