I had high expectations from my previous experiences with Netgear products, but this did nothing to tarnish that reputation. I plugged in the incoming feed from my fiber jack in my networking closet and can now connect my routers and other devices to my ethernet ports all around the house.
The lights operate as described with left and right leds lighting when there is a connection and flashing for data transmission. I have gigabit internet and through my networking testing it appears to achieve the gigabit speeds that it claims.
Overall, this is an excellent switch that I would definitely recommend to anyone in the market for this type of networking appliance.

Be aware that this switch exposes the management interface on all ports. There does not seem to be a way to turn this off. You should not use this switch in an exposed environment where you need more than password-based security (or if you are uncertain about how much to trust the security of inexpensive network gear firmware).
For example, I purchased this to segment off a couple ports onto a VLAN as a pass-through for the Internet link on the outside of my home router. I wanted to be able to use the port-mirroring capability to inspect the traffic on the outside of my gateway/firewall.
That would leave several ports available (configured on a separate VLAN) to use inside my firewall. There is no way to disable the management interface on those ports exposed outside of my firewall. Netgear is adamant in their forums that this is by design.
If you use this properly secured inside your network, then it is a pretty nice switch. It has a lot of nice features for the price, and I expect it will work reliably (I’m generally a fan of Netgear equipment).
The design around the management interface makes it unsuitable for use in some situations – that dropped my opinion to a 3-star level. The extra star was lost because this limitation is pretty much hidden.
I shouldn’t have to imagine arbitrary security deficiencies and then go and research to find out if a potential purchase has them.
I had issues with Swisscom’s Internet Box 3 Wi-Fi because of the thick walls of our house, so I decided to buy a switch and connect my devices via LAN. This switch is perfect for the price, don’t know if the reading are always 100% right but the speed exceeds 1 Gbps.
I have connected the desktop PC, Xbox Series X and a Synology NAS DS918+, still have a free port if I want to plug in something else, never had problems with connection speed, everything so far. I am very happy with this product, always had good experiences with old Netgear devices, this one won’t let me down for sure.
If you need more LAN ports you can get the bigger one. Great product for the price too.
I had an old D-Link DES-1105 5-port switch which had seen its better days. The D-Link was causing radio interference on my Icom IC-7300 shortwave radio transceiver which I was somewhat able to suppress using ferrite beads and metal foil around the D-Link switch.
But the straw that broke the camel’s back with the old D-Link was when we upgraded from the AT&T fiber 100Mbps speed to the 1Gbps speed (actually we are getting about 900Mbps speed) and the D-Link switch could barely pass just over 100Mbps data speeds.
This Netgear GS305 was the answer for both problems. It has a metal case instead of plastic (which the D-Link had) so radio interference on the short-wave radio is gone. And the GS305 had no problems at all with the 900Mbps data speed! It is also smaller in size than the old D-Link.
My radio transceiver is happy now and my wife’s computer and my computer are happy now that we are getting the full internet speed we are paying for! And best of all, it didn’t cost an arm and a leg!.

This is perfect for someone that needs that extra management ability because of VoIP or other networking needs but doesn’t need or want to get into full layer 3 switching. The web interface is easily learned and accessible.
You can lock it down as well. Netgear has been really good about product support as well and they fix issues fast with firmware updates as needed. I’ve yet to have one of these fail (knock on wood) and we have these installed in most of our clients’ locations.

It does not recognize nor accept a single additional lead. Stated another way, it will not assign an appropriate IP address to one additional connection. It will not connect my computer and my 2021WebTV by LG.
Basically, the WebTV is happy with the connection provided by my cable company and works well with no TP-Link LS1005G. It also works ok with the TP-Link attached (provided nothing else is attached). When the computer is attached to the TP-Link LS1005G, the computer does not get connected to the internet.
You can follow all the blah, blah, blah by TP-Link but no connection is accomplished. I value my time more than this idiotic wasteful exercise.
I have Google Fiber 2. 5 gbps plan. But the house is wired with CAT 5e that maxes out at 1 gbps (Although IEEE has come up with new standards for running 2. 5 gbps over CAT 5e). My home office is other end of the house from GF Multi-Gig router.
I needed a switch that can connect to my 2. 5 gbps Mesh Extender in home office. This switch is a cost effective option. Connected the switch to Ethernet port in home office (Make sure you connect router to port 5) and connected the Mesh Extender to the switch.
GF Multi-Gig router Ethernet port light changed from Green (1 gbps connection) to Orange (2. 5 gbps connection) confirming that the switch connected at 2. 5 gbps over CAT 5e. The Ethernet cable connection on switch shows up correctly as 2.
5 gbps connection (Left LED green). For some reason the Mesh Extender still shows up as connected with 1 gbps to the switch. It is quite possible that GF Mesh Extender is not 2. 5 gbps. With this setup my WiFi speed test showed consistently 600 mbps down and 400 mbps up.
Previously without the switch this was 400 mbps down and 200 mbps up. I am happy with the TP Link switch.
Completely seamless install, at least for me. I should mention I’m a tech guy, but not as deep as many others. When it came to needing a network switch, it was simply that our new router only had two ports and I have many hard-wired devices (a printer, a PC, three smart home hubs, occasionally other devices).
Pros: + so easy to install it’s ridiculous; you can plug the ‘in’ to any of the ports, all the rest can be ‘out’ + no setup required really, just plug and play + no fooling around with additional settings either, it works straight out of the box + good value, I bought the open-box version from Home Essentials Direct and it seemed brand new + good speed, I haven’t noticed any drop in speed across devices whatsoever Cons: – I wish they had better power cords, the way this cord sits along with the ethernet cables has this little light thing sitting weird on my desk (won’t sit flat, can’t push it up against a wall, etc.
) I seriously plugged it in on day one and have never even thought about it since. Works flawlessly. This switch works great, initially. You can plug one end of your RJ45 cable from your modem to any available port. Old versions have a specific port that your LAN connects to. However, the benefits are s short-lived.
There are many reports (now) of the same issue where it maxxes out at less than 100 Mbps, not 1000 Mbps (Gigabits) as advertised. Support is quite frustrating to deal with and they require you to pay shipping to them when you do an RMA.
It’s simply not worth to ship especially given how this seems to be a common problem. Most people don’t notice speed differences but myself and my devices noticed immediately when this ethernet “switch” stopped performing to spec.
All this leaves me very disappointed. I had not expected performance issues what appeared to be a rock solid device. FWIW, my switch has 5 ports.

To cut to the chase: I am returning it. The long story: It’s an ok switch. v3 which means that it is on its 3rd hardware revision. It functions as expected and offers most of what you would expect from a basic managed POE switch except for two things: Port naming and POE power control.
The latter blows my mind. Basically the POE 802. 3at/af is always on and there is no way for you to power cycle a device without unplugging the RJ45. You might as well call this switch unmanaged if you are going to miss such a basic functionality and this is why I am returning in favor of a cheaper, “real” managed switch.
The switch itself is compact and the external power supply uses a not very standard plug which is another reason for me to return it. I would prefer if it was using a common 5. 5/2. 1mm power plug.
This 16 port POE switch worked out great for the application at a satellite office. There was a myriad of different equipment there and this allowed me to set up one switch for everything to which to connect.
It also replaced the old POE switch that was messing things up for the VOIP service. Everything seems to be operating great now.
I was using a few smaller switches all chained together before I found this new switch and bought it. I love that all ports are PoE+ (albeit with a very limited overall power budget – at least with the PSU I bought), and that it is silent.
I use it to power two IP phones and three IP cameras. Zero issues. The only thing I wish about it was that they made a 24 port version as well. Immediately after installing this I was down to only having one port available.

This switch worked great for little less than a year then I started to experience intermittent packet loss. I originally thought it was the Ethernet cable but after troubleshooting found this switch to be the culprit.
I’m still giving this product a five star as I’ve used Netgear products in the past and this is the first one to break on me. The reason for this review is to inform other buyers that Netgear requires warranty product registration within the first 90 days of the product purchase.
I never registered so I wasn’t able to take advantage of the manufacturer warranty. Don’t make the same mistake I did.
It does the job. It’s not built sturdy so don’t bang it or drop it. Power volts and amps are not great but enough to get the job done. If using for Raspberry look else where unless your just doing 1 and not a cluster it might be okay even with other devices hooked up.
volts and amps output are very low so the product is pretty below average. Disappointed it netgear on this one. It did not work for what i in tended but it did work just for a switch box in spare room only 2 devices.
Not recommended move up to the next level better product.
Went out during a thunderstorm, taking out the entire wired home internet with it. Switches have been around for ~30 years and you can’t protect the bottleneck that serves the entire home’s internet? Phone calls to ISP, router company, electricians.
All just to find out switching this horrible switch with a TP-Link solved everything. Don’t support this garbage product. Buy TP-Link instead.

A big mistake people often make when setting up their system is to scrimp on some small part of the whole. Just as a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, any substandard component will negate any advantage you have in a high quality signal, speed and bandwidth.
I replaced the crappy router, etc. provided by our Internet provider with all Netgear products. They were shocked when I walked into their office one week after installation and handed all their equipment back in a cardboard box, saying I didn’t need it.

Unit replace an 8 port 10/100 switch and I was happy to see things connecting and transferring at the 1 Gb rate. Moving larger files now taking seconds rather than minutes (seeing around 115 Mbps actual, way better than 10-11 Mbps) Was able to make use of the Connection and Link Speed indicator immediately when moving a “server” over to new switch.
The port number lit up showing a connection but there was no speed indication (amber or green) like the other connections were showing. Found that in moving the cable over, one of the green wires broke so must have been brittle.
Had it not broke then, may have later causing some interesting troubleshooting by remote (client is 80 miles away). Very happy with how it is working, breathing new life into and considering my old 3COM 24 port with one.
I was looking for POE switches. This switch jgs524 appeared. The documentation under the item stated that 8 of the 16 ports were POE. It lied. All the ports are 10 100 1000 but that is all. What a disappointment!! I started plugging my security cameras in, only to find they did not work! I am taking it to the local Office Max/Depot and returning it.
I was charged $179 only to receive a JGS16v2 that on the website is $119. I guess it is true, “buyer beware”.

This is my third router. I ran ethernet throughout my home many years ago, putting about 16 drops around my home. I got my first DES-1024D switch almost a decade ago. it worked without interruption for 8+ years with numerous electrical storms, power failures – you name it.
I replaced it with a “namebrand” 16 port – both are “dumb” switches, and good for sustained 200Mb/s transfer rate – The 16 port was rated for Gigabit. That 16 port Gigabit switch died within 18 months’ service.
I replaced it with another 1024D. The reason? Almost all the other switches you buy have “wall wart” AC/DC transformers that doesn’t have the lifespan and robustness of the 1024D’s internal AC. That’s right, it has a regular computer style AC cord.
This is a super simple, plug and play switch. just remember to restart your router after replacement. Speed, Power, Reliability, Simplicity, and easy on the wallet, too – you can’t miss. If you need a small switch for home or business and don’t need Gb speeds – give this one a try.
(For those interested – I have run 4 1024P TVs and I run 2-3 simultaneously with Blu Ray rips – no problems. 4K support is stretching it – so, if you need that, look for a Gigabit or 10Gb switch. ) This is a little more than $2 per port and super reliable.
This is my second one, for home use LAN. I’ve been running the first one for more than six months, no issues or hiccups whatsoever. The case is plastic & gives the unit an inexpensive overall feel, BUT you get what you pay for in that respect.
The price matches this design. Testing: speeds & efficiency fantastic, can handle large simultaneous loads NP. I have at least 12 different computers spread around the house, all SSD’s capable of pumping & receiving large amounts of data (no mechanical hard drives anywhere), & this thing does excellent with all my tests.
If you need something simple that gets the job done for a great price, & dont care about looks, this is recommended.
The TP-LINK TL-SG1005D 5-Port Unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet Desktop Switch is great! This is definitely a Plug and Play device. The instruction leaflet is very simple and large, 10. 5 inches by 13. 25 inches.
Consisting of two Pictograms; Connection, and LED Explanation; on one side. The other side consists of two Frequently asked Questions with their responses, Safety Notices, General Specifications, and an FCC Statement.
The individual Ethernet Ports on the back do not have individual port indicating sets of LED’s on each port. But I do not feel that they are required either. However, there is an individual LED for each Ethernet port on the front along with the Power LED.
The switch is Unmanaged. Just plug in the Ethernet Cable connected to the Router and plug another Ethernet Cable to what ever Ethernet devices, up to 4, that you want to connect. Then connect the power adapter, 9 VDC Output, into the Ethernet Switch, then into a power outlet.
Within seconds you have extended your Ethernet Network. If you are concerned with the Ethernet Switch requiring a MAC Addresses for itself on the router, it does not use a MAC address. I did see on an earlier review where one individual thought that the switch did not work.
This is a Switch, not a Hub. A Switch has some smarts to it and it will need a number of seconds to figure out that you have moved an Ethernet cable to another port. This is a normal function of an Ethernet Switch.
And no, it does not take minutes to recognize that an Ethernet Cable has been moved or connected, just a small number of seconds. The switch is not concerned about whether or not a switch over or straight through type of Ethernet Cable is connected as it will figure that out too by itself.
This is a Gigabyte Switch, so even though you may not have Gigabyte service or a Gigabyte Router, the devices that are connected to the switch will transfer data between themselves at Gigabyte speeds should they be able to do that.
The Switch will handle all speeds of equipment and will allow equipment to transfer data between them at a speed rate that the connected devices can handle. There are a number of very good tutorials on YouTube that can explain and in most cases will show you what the difference between a Switch and a Hub is.

I use this plug-and-play/no-software-setup gigabit port in the following way: 1) I have a Netgear AC1900 in my home office which is one corner of the house. 2) An ethernet cord in this router goes through wall, up through attic, down to another room in the house.
3) I have a Netgear AC1750 there to broadcast WiFi through second portion of house into backyard. 4) an Ethernet cable runs from the AC1750 to the Netgear 5-Port Gigabit where I have my Vizio TV, Onkyo 9.
2 receiver, LG UHD disc, and a Roku 3 plugged in for direct streaming. This setup allows electronic/entertainment components to have a dedicated direct line for streaming reducing the traffic on my 5Ghz WiFi signals I use for my Roku Premiere Plus stick, tablets, phones, and TCL Roku TV in master bedroom where a direct ethernet line is not available.
If you have the option to connect your streaming components to Ethernet, do it. I find they work much better, and this 5-port switch—which is basically a splitter–will help you in this! I a new WiFi 6 TP-Link Mesh system. Unlike the previous Netgear WiFi setup I had with multiple Ethernet Ports, the new TP-Link only two Ethernet ports. This 5 Port Netgear unit is perfect to solve this dilemma.
It is a well made product and works right out of the box. Easy solutions to adding the extra Ethernet ports I needed. Works Great!!.

This switch started out great, then I noticed the LEDs weren’t all working. Since the switch worked I let it go but recently noticed some POE devices would lose power very briefly. Now the switch is mostly dead.
It’s providing power, but there’s no Ethernet. I’ve never had good luck with Netgear products in the past but bought this since it had the features I needed at a good price. I’ll see how the warranty process goes but I’m not expecting it to be good based on past experiences with Netgear support.
I bought this switch specifically to power a POE+ device (new) at 300 feet from the switch. This switch, although rated for POE+, could not sufficiently power the device, but by eliminating the switch entirely and coupling the circuit through to the next switch upstream (about 500 cable-feet from the field device, far outside POE+ specs) I was able to power the device just fine, and it is working reliably.
I do not recommend this switch for POE+ applications.

I had been using an old 3com gigabit router that was ~20yrs old and had seen a major tour of duty ending its watch as a living room switch when suddenly everything seemed to be loading on much slower and my Apple TV 4k didn’t seem as “crisp” as it once was.
Running some diagnostic software showed what should have been ~900-950mbps (1gb speed) was topping out at 35-40mbps on all my devices. Doing some isolation testing pointed right to my old switch so a new switch was needed.
Expecting the prices of years ago ($100’s to even $1000’s), I was pleasantly surprised to find this Netgear gigabit switch fit all my criteria at what was an amazingly low price. A quick swap in for my old switch and viola! Just like that speeds were testing back to their original peak 900-950mbps and everything was right again.
You can’t beat the amazingly low price and the fact it worked right out of the box and swapped right into place. Excellent!.
I use this switch as part of a large synchronized Christmas light show. Although it is not weatherproof, It sits in the middle of my yard on top of a brick with a plastic tub turned upside down on it to protect it from direct rain.
Even in that outdoor environment, it works like a champ for the 5 weeks our show runs – including several rain events. I’m not recommending it for outdoor use, but the price is great, and it is very rugged if protected from direct water.
I bought this only because it had ports in back which I needed for my application. It in no way compares with the Netgear GS108 (ports in front) that I purchased elsewhere the week before for use where front-ports were acceptable.
The GS108 is metal construction, with metal ports, and feels sturdy (the GS608 is all plastic – including the ports – and light-weight). The lower-priced GS208 (ports on back) looked even cheaper. The GS108 has two status lights on each port which, in combinations, show if that port is working at 10, 100 or 1000 mbps.
The GS608 has only a single light per port, which simply shows if the port is active. Every switch manufacturer offers a front-port gigabyte 8-port switch that looks essentially like the GS108. There appeared to be no good options from top-tier companies for rear-port switches.
I knew this when I settled for the GS608, but there appeared to be no alternative. Netgear is capable of making robust switches, but this isn’t one of them. I wish they would make a rear-port gigaswitch comparable to the GS108 in construction and function.

I don’t know. I’m going to see if maybe there’s a firmware update or something, but to be honest, this thing is more frustrating than it is useful. When it works, it works fine. But having to reset this thing every day is annoying.
If it was right next to me, that’d be one thing, but in my house, I have this in a downstairs closet so it’s just a PITA. If maybe there’s a firmware update that makes this thing more stable, I’ll come back and change my review, but as it stands now, I cannot recommend this unit.
I used this Linksys switch to replace an old 5 port Dlink switch which was only 10/100. Compared to the old Dlink, this new Linksys is 10/100/1000, in a smaller and more robust metal case. It draws less current and it’s cheaper than the older Dlink was when originally purchased.
When the Dlink was purchased (about 6 or 8 years ago) it was state of the art, but this newer Linksys just blows it out of the water.
I got this for cloning laptops and had been using old used 24 port 3com gigabit switches and this one really cut the sessions down in 1/2 the time. Using the 3com each session would take 2 to 2 1/2 hours to finish but with the Linksys it brought the time down to just over an hour.
I have a bunch of new laptops getting ready to be delivered so I’m already thinking about ordering at least another one or two of these and totally abandon those old ones that I’ve been using.

i always hated playing video games using wi-fi, and once I moved to a house, i made sure that a dedicated ethernet cable was available. So that I could connect multiple devices, I made this purchase.
I plug one ethernet cable from the internet line to one of the 5 slots, and I connect the other four (2 used right now: PC, PS4) to my devices. It does its role, doesn’t get too hot, and is very solidly built.
Others who may have more devices than me may need ones with more ports, but for a small home gaming studio, this switch satisfies all that I want in order to experience smooth online play.

So far this device does what I wanted it to do. I had a 4 port and needed a couple more ports and this fits the bill. As far as durability, it’s too soon to tell. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because Netgear lies about it’s products because the other reason I bought this was because the description says it is wall mountable.
That is a lie because there are no mounting holes of any kind on this device as you can see from the photos. From what I read, you have to buy a special bracket which they don’t tell you. One thing I want to point out.
This device is replacing a 4 port Netgear switch. I wanted to let you know it appears the power adapters are not the same because I tried to use the adapter from my 4 port switch to power this one so I wouldn’t have to crawl behind my system to switch them.
The adapter for the 4 port switch puts out 0. 25 amps. The 8 port switch adapter puts out 0. 5 amps. The one for my 4 port wouldn’t even light the 8 port switch up most likely because there wasn’t enough amperage.
The adapters that comes with them are not interchangeable as it appears.
Like most people who’ve worked with networking devices, I just don’t trust airtight plastic cases. I like the feel of a heavy metal box and its heat dissipation capability; I like to be able to feel around ventilation holes and get a rough gauge of how hot the air moving across the chipset may be.
I’ve had enough experience with overheating during critical backups to just never trust a sealed plastic box. For that reason alone, I wouldn’t ever recommend this device in a SOHO network except to provide non-critical connections.
For home use, it is OK. By that I mean that I could not make it fail, not with 3 wired devices streaming simultaneously and a large file copy occurring at the same time. It did not increase temperature to the touch, nor did it slow down, maintaining a 76MBps throughput rate, peaking at 82MBps.
I’m more than fine with that. The only two points of failure I’ve ever seen on switches: #1 – HEAT, and #2 – Insufficient power in the wall wart causes voltage irregularity and damages the switch. For cause #2, I will never never EVER complain about a wall wart being too big or too powerful.
That is just plain silly. 1 Amp DC requires a fair-sized transformer, and this unit’s wall wart is comfortably big and heavy to get my trust. For Home. A similarly priced metal-case switch from TrendNet or TP-Link can be found at NewEgg, and may be a better choice, given the case and better visual indicators.
I am giving this 4 eggs just because I couldn’t find any fault with it. A ventilated/metal case would garner 5.
This is a very inexpensive way to add additional wired internet connections. Switching can tend to make me think one of the connections gets the bulk of connectivity, while the others wait their turn and real slow connections.
In testing this I found this to be totally untrue. For just about two weeks I have had 2 daily PC’s, an HTPC and a laptop connected. Two of the computers are used often at the same time and the HTPC is almost always on and running HDTV.
I found it impressive that this unit never left any of them with a poor connection, at any time! This includes online gaming, HDTV running continuous, and a laptop just to be another user so that I could see how good this works.
With two computers doing online gaming, I occasionally saw a slight reduction in FPS, but it was a fast recovery. That showed me that this not only switches on demand, it does it really quick. It’s has been like I didn’t even connect this for the most part (compared to straight out of my router).
With today’s high speeds in our homes and businesses, for the multi-tasking and multi-users, this proved out to be a very good product. There is enough bandwidth to go around. I have a hi-speed package from my supplier.
With a slow basic bandwidth package this might not give as good results, this is ‘Sharing’ a single connection. How can you go wrong to even have this as a tool in the tool box of ifs? Additional connections or want to be ready in case, Would I recommend this to family or friend, yes!.

Been using this unmanaged switch for about 3 weeks now on my gigabit network doing heavy file transfers across LAN between my NAS boxes, PCs and media centers. All of a sudden I lost internet connectivity among all my devices so I reset the modem, router, and checked all the settings in each network device.
I spent 2 days troubleshooting by plugging each lan cable into the port and tested connectivity to each room. Everything was fine until the moment this netgear switch was plugged in then I lost connectivity again between the router and modem.
This outage affected wifi connectivity as well – could not ping anything at all, but DNS was still working. I changed to another dlink switch and everything was working fine. This is a really poorly built switch with no reset buttons to reset the device or anything, and it is really hard to find out what’s wrong with the unit without inspecting packets flowing through the device.
Stay away from this device if you need heavy duty networking comms.
I’ve bought 2 of these already and already getting my 3rd one whilst expanding our small office. Great reliable switch, never gives any issues no matter how much you put through it. Highly recommended.
This is definitely better quality, build, and size than the other Netgear switches I bought that lasted ~3 years then burnt out on me. The good thing about this is its lifetime warranty. I’d recommend it.
Did some research online and on amazon, and this model is the `plastic enclosure` version of the more expensive metallic ones, but both in the good product range. Still further testing to be done before i give it the last star.

For under $25 this was the answer to how could I have more than one device in a bedroom that needed to be directly plugged in to the Internet. This bedroom was at the far end of the house and the Wi-Fi would not take care of keeping my devices online.
I had an ethernet cable run to the bedroom so that at least one device could be plugged in. For a long time that cat5 Cable was plugged into my computer that I used to work from home. I recently added an Apple TV box and would have to manually change which device was plugged in.
It was a giant pain. And I mean that physically. The plug is behind a cabinet and getting back there to plug in and unplug it every time you wanna switch devices was physically painful. Introduced the switchbox! I just plugged it in and then ran both Ethernet cords to the box and now they both have fantastic Internet 🙂 I am in love with this box! Has it made life simpler? Yes! Has it made my life less painful? Yes definitely.
Has it reduce the stress in my life? Yes I highly recommend it. It was super simple to hook up, worked right out of the box, and so far its working perfectly. And for under 25 bucks I couldnt be more thrilled.
If you need a small managed switch, you need to buy this one. It was easy to setup and maintain. It has the automatic DHCP to work with the WIFI modem. I bought this switch because I replaced my WIFI modem and the new modem only had two RJ45 ports.
My new WIFI modem uses 1 GB speed. This switch handles 100/1000 MBPS speeds. This manufacturer also makes a unmanaged switch that looks exactly the same as this switch. So make sure you select the “Easy Smart Switch”, otherwise you might get the unmanaged switch.
I bought this to split a single ethernet port on the wall into 3 for a Sonos, Raspberry Pi and a TV. It handles this with no issues at all. I haven’t tried out any of the advanced routing features, but bought a switch including them in case I have a use for them in the future (e.
g. isolating particular machines within the LAN, etc). Overall a good product at a fair price – I would recommend it.

Bought this switch as required a switch with very specific requirements (unmanaged, generous PoE budget) for routing of audio signals. It handles all of this beautifully, and seems like a well-made piece of kit.
Power supply is enormous, but I think you can downgrade this if your PoE requirements are less demanding.

Love the JGS line from NETGEAR, recommend it for the home network nerds that want a GUI interface to have some control over specific network protocols. I already have the JGS524PE and had a simple NETGEAR 8 port die on me, being I have several POE connections, it was time to dump the two small 8 port units and get the 16PE.
It was tricky getting into it the first time via the PROSAFE app, nothing that can’t be overcome if you understand how to configure your desktop to do so, maybe NETGEAR can revisit that part of it making it a little bit more plug and play.
I recommend this unit and all NETGEAR products, I have the ORBI 850 with 2 S850’s, JGS524PE, JGS516PE and CM1000.
I only say needs Improvement because the setup and packaging notes leaves a lot to be desired. The system and capabilities are awesome. I really do live the product. I had to do a lot of research on my own just to use this product though.

Yet that was also not new user friendly either. If you want this thing to be accessible to more people always remember, KISS. Keep it simple stupid. Not calling you dumb, it’s just the phrase. What this system allows me to do in my home network is astonishing and I am only at the tip of the iceberg.
Still discovering more and thinking about what I can add in the future. I have some ideas on a simple user interface that could simplify interacting with this device. Either on paper or electronic. Maybe that doesn’t matter to your business model though so I digress.
