20 Best Gel Pens For Black Paper
1. Pilot G2 Retractable Gel Ink Pens, Fine Point, Black – 36 pack

Smooth writing G2 is proven to write 2X longer than other branded gel ink pens. Black ink. Fine point, 0. 7 mm. G2 gel ink glides across the page. The Pilot G2 bulk tub with lid is perfect for offices, medical personnel, restaurants, supply closets, or anywhere that you need plenty of pens on hand.
Retractable and refillable for continued use with Pilot G2 gel ink refills sold separately. Comfortable contoured rubber grip. 36 per pack.
These pens, are nice because you can buy a pack of refills and refill them when they are empty! I love using a pen and paper and writing anything, I actually prefer it to like writing lists in my phone.
so, these pens have a tiny tip that sometimes can be irritating for me, because it makes the ink go out occasionally and ends up making my writing look messy where the ink dragged or skipped. And it seems like once they drag or skip, it feels like it just keeps happening over and over.
Also, the refillable option is great, however I haven’t actually found myself buying the inserts to actually refill them, I forgetting and end up going and buying a different brand pack of pens. and the few times I did happen to remember to get the inserts, of course, I couldn’t find them at the stores I happened to be at.
So, while it’s a good idea, I’m wondering how many ppl actually use it? As for recommendations, I think there are cheaper pens that perform better. So it’s all about your preference.
Smooth ink, beautiful color, no skipping. What more could you possibly need? I love Pilot G2 Gel Pens so much, for a few years now, I’ve only been using the black ones, so I figured that I would try some new colors.
I bought the Burgundy and Teal colors of this pen and they work wonders! I love the ink and color so much, and don’t get me started or the ergonomic pen body. Although, you may want to note that these pens smear horribly when used with highlighters, especially with Zebra Mildliners.
If you don”t highlight much, these just may be the best gel pens you’ve tried yet. However, if you’re a person who highlights their notes, you may want to search for a smear-resistant pen.
G2 Limited Retractable Gel Roller lets you enjoy writing perfection in a sophisticated metallic body with rich silver accents. Metal clip provides rich detailing. Experience a dynamic gel ink formula that’s smooth writing with a 0.
7mm fine point. Featuring a rubber grip for writing comfort, G2 Limited is the stylish writing instrument you have been looking for. Ergonomic cushion grip alleviates writing fatigue. Refill with G2 gel ink refills.
I have bought this pen in the past and loved it. I just bought another one. I am disappointed in it for two reasons. First, the casing, of the pen, turns and doesn’t seem to have a snug fit as it did before.
Secondly, the ink is skipping and seems to have something wrong with it but I’m not sure if it’s the ‘tip’ of the ink cartridge or the cartridge itself (having air in it or just drying up or something else wrong)? Too expensive to have this type of poor quality.
I’m surprised and disappointed as it’s been my favorite for years.
This pen would not be so bad if it were a dollar-for-dollar improvement over Pilot’s own bulk 207 pens. Their bulk pens last a long time and take years before drying out. These are a pleasure to write with and have decent ink but the mechanism leaves a lot to be desired.
I am fairly certain that the dollar Pilot pen bumping around in my car will outlive this one, which sees better handling. I only replace them when they break as they are very comfortable.
I am still old fashion and I love to write. But for a good writing is fundamental to have a good tool, in this case a good pen. Pilot brand is one of the best pen and pencil and mechanic pencil in my opinion.
I love to buy pen, let’s clarify I am not a pen horder, I like quality and I will pay for it. This Dr. Grip pen is absolutely marvelous. It is super smooth to use, the writing is absolutely fluid with that.
It is absolutely designed for comfort when someone is writing. It is really worthy to point out that it is considered- ease of use – by the Arthritis Founding. It is retractable, so no worries about to lose its cap and it is refillable, just need to go to the manufacturer website and order for its refills.
The gel ink makes the writing stands out and it is beautiful for those who appreciate a well written letter or note. The ballpoint is 0. 7 MM which makes the writing super delicate. I think this pen is ideal for people who need to take note during classes or for elderly people who has a little trouble to hold pens, this one is not going to slip from their hands because of its cushioned and comfortable grip.
Sanford Brands 2096149 Retractable pens feature smooth-flowing gel ink that lays down effortlessly for an effortless writing experience. Comfortable grip helps you keep a secure grasp on the pen for enhanced control.
Handy clip secures to pockets, notebooks and more for easy access and storage. Gel pens with black ink are perfect for daily use at home, office and school.
Sharpie’s have always dominated the “permanent marker” category. No substitutes please! I happened to be browsing our local Staples store and saw they had Sharpie pens! I bought two 10 or 12 packs instantly.
How can you get excited about a pen? I genuinely thought these would be great! I’ve gotten used to picking up a pen, watching it skip a bit, scribbling to get it working, grab another one, repeat. The biggest problem I found with these Sharpie pens is, they all get stolen! I just bought about 30 more, some in fine point, which I didn’t know they had so I’ll try them out to.
So far they do everything right! ZERO complaints. They live up to their reputation. When I think of the other typical office pens that everyone buys buy the dozen, having to shake the ink down like an old thermometer.
or having problems trying to write something against a wall. those days are over. I think I should look into buying stock in Sharpie lol! Now, I have two old Italian designer pens from the 1980’s that have long since dried up but look very cool.
I’m going to see if there’s a way to put the Sharpie internals into one of these oldies!.
So if you are looking for a pen that writes as smooth a butter, this is it! The only draw back is that I’m a pen snob so to me I need my pen to meet certain criteria. Smoothness, appearance, weigh in hand, feel/pen grip and price.
This pen did miss the mark for me with weight and being plastic it doesn’t have the level of pen class I prefer. The upside is that Sharpie makes a series of metal pens and I was able to swap out the bold ink in these pens into my matte black metal pen.
Unfortunately, I cannot find bold refills for the Sharpie so at this price I have to use these as refills rather than my daily writing instrument. Sharpie has no idea they are sitting on a gold mine but they just haven’t marketed this pen right and nor have they put the right ink into their metal pens.
I tried these on recommendation from another customer, but after using one at random from the four-pack the first one began leaking and splotching almost immediately which has been a problem with other gel pen brands.
Having one leak in your pocket is a DISASTER and I’m not likely to buy any brand of gel pens again. You can get the stains out with the folk remedy of soaking the stains with of all things by applying hairspray and scrubbing repeatedly, but who wants to trust a pen that will ruin and stain clothing? Pen tech in general seems to be declining and this has become a frequent problem no matter what brand I buy.
As a consumer I don’t know what brands I can trust anymore. Bic, Pilot, Sharpie and Parker have all let me down.
Medium Pen Point – Black Gel-based Ink – 1 DozenGel pens feature a quick-drying ink to keep your writing clean and consistent without smudging. Smooth-flowing ink lays down effortlessly without any drag for a more enjoyable writing experience from your first word to your last.
Medium point produces clean, solid lines for excellent visibility. Handy clip attaches to pockets, notebooks and more for easy access and storage. Gel pens with black ink are perfect for everyday use at home, office and school.
I’m left-handed which means I’ve spent my life blurring text as I write it. No longer. This pen is quick drying. I have used both the wild berry and the blue colors. They are my “go-to” pens. They offer crisp, clear writing at a nice thickness level (not too thick at all).
They don’t bleed through my planner, either. I was waiting to write this review so I could advise how long it will last with daily use — suffice it to say, the answer is, a long time. The wild berry color is a little deeper than I thought it would be, but I love it.
It’s not “jump down your throat red” but it’s a nice contrast on the page that makes it easy to spot. Already have multiple of these pens at work, in my purse, and at home so I’m never without them. Get one (or more!).
I work in an office so I’m a little bit of a pen snob. I tend to like using pens that have fun colors, writes easily and smoothly, and has a good feel holding the pen. I personally really like the Berry Color.
It’s not too bright but still adds some pop of fun color. The pen does write nice and smoothly and I didn’t really notice any smearing like some gel pens do. The pen has a nice feel to it and is easy to use continuously all day long.
I think the only thing I didn’t enjoy is the cap to this pen. I felt like it was always falling off. Not that big of a deal. Overall very satisfied with this pen and is definitely one of my top favorites that I use regularly.
One of my favorite pens to write with! I love this pretty pink color! It writes smooth and drys real quick. Not like most gel pens this one doesn’t dry up at the tip or leak. As soon as you begin to write with it the ink runs smoothly on the paper without fading out.
It drys a lot faster so it doesn’t smear like most gel pens either. I like to use it when I’m coloring too. I do a lot of arts and crafts so these are great for coloring in thin lines without the ink bleeding.
Paper mate has always been one of my favorite brands for school and office supplies.

Available in 0. 38mm and 0. 5mm point sizes. The unique pastel colors are only available in 0. 5mm.
I really wanted to like these pens, I really did. I ordered a few other pastel pens to try out for a blackout bullet journal I got recently and these just did nothing. The writing was very scratchy, and the sheets of the journal I was using to test the pens was smooth.
I can normally appreciate a thinner line, but the line width did little to actually make these colours visible. These barely showed up on the black paper, and the only colours that were ‘meh’ were the purple and pink.
When I tested them on white paper, only the purple was visible, so I kept that one and binned the others. If you want good pastel pens, go with Sakura Gelly Rolls or the Pentel Hybrid Milky pens, those are worth the money to stock up with.
I was super skeptical of gel pens because I never liked the PIlot G2s. Turns out I probably didn’t like them because they were too big for my liking (0. 7mm). And, let me say, this pen, at 0. 38mm, totally changed my tune on gel pens.
This is one of the smoothest writing gel pens I’ve used for its smaller size. The ink a deep black, and it draws a nice, uninterrupted line, no skipping at all. And let me also just praise the clip on this pen.
It opens ip pretty wide, which is really great fo me because I have a bed pouch type thing that acts as my nightstand. One part fits between the mattress and the box spring, and the folder part of it hangs down, and I put a notebook and a pen in there.
The pen is perfect for that because the clip opens super easily and opens wide enough to clip to the side of the thick felt fabric. I decided that would be my permanent “nightstand” pen, and went ahead and got another one for my pencil case! I highly suggest giving this one a shot if you’re on the fence.
Bunbougu doesn’t accept negative reviews. Posted a critical review a few weeks ago and its not up here. Nice colours, not super smooth like the Hi Tec C, so with some ballpoint-like resistance. colour looks faded when you draw a fast line.
Will probably get more colours in the future, but I already bought many Kaco from aliexpress. I like how the refill is interchangeable with the juiceup, so I can use the bodies with either.
Office Supplies Jot down notes or work on creative pieces with these retractable TUL gel pens. The smooth ink flow and resistance to smearing and fading helps ensure each line can be read. Smooth-flowing ink promotes balanced, precision writing.
Textured grip provides a comfortable feel and control. Stainless-steel clip allows simple attachment to a shirt pocket or notebook. Designed to resist fading and smearing, so your writing holds up over time.
Experience America’s #1 selling Gel Ink Pen with a Pilot G2 Retractable Premium Gel Ink Rolling Ball Pen! Featuring water-resistant, smear-proof gel ink for exceedingly smooth writing, each pen is retractable and refillable with G2 refills.
A contoured, latex-free rubber grip provides writing comfort and there is no cap to lose, so you not only have a quality gel pen, but a convenient one that you can confidently rely on for writing perfection.
The Pilot G2 pen has been around for a long time, and Ive been using them for at least the last 20 years Throughout that time they have been the best roller ball available, in my view, and great value for money too.
Although listed as gel pens the ink is more fluid than most, but it flows a lot better as a result, and feels more like a fountain pen than a biro in use. Be prepared not to touch your writing for a couple of seconds, or it may smudge.
Unlike a biro you dont need to apply pressure to the tip, and that makes your writing more elegant and places less strain you your wrist. Your best writing experience is always with a nib pen, using traditional ink it gives you a flow and lightness like nothing else.
The closest Ive come to that is with these G2s, and I find them very enjoyable and rewarding to use when the full fountain pen experience is not practical. These days there are lots of colour inks to choose from but I recommend you stick to the stronger solids like black, red, blue, green.
The inks are lightfast too, unlike a biro. The pastel shades and the white in particular will not show up so well on paper. Remember that these are inks, so the white will not stand out well on black or dark card.
If thats what you want you need a paint pen instead. A lot of the negative reviews here are due to this misunderstanding rather than the pen itself. Finally, and to the credit of Pilot, the barrel of these pens unscrews, allowing you to fit a refill.
Thats an excellent feature and helps prevent the waste of chucking out an entire pen when only the ink has run out. The less plastic pollution can be achieved the better, and Pilot are to be applauded here.
These are excellent pens, and I long ago threw out my old ballpoints in favour of them. Highly recommended.
I used to buy these for use at work as they were such a pleasure to hold and write with. The ink delivery is flawless, they do not gungeup like the cheaper alternatives, and last quite a long time. Dont bin them when they run out, just buy the refills and keep using.
My only complaint is people keeping nicking them because they are so good that includes my wife. I find my writing is a lot clearer when I use these pens as they are so pleasurable to use the grip is so ergonomic in shape that it is sculpted to be perfectly balanced when resting between your fingers.
the pen is very light not heavy to hold. I used to look forward to taking minutes in meetings just to use this pen I have bought cheaper alternatives, but ink leaking over my fingers and hard rubber resting sleeves just put me off so I returned to buying these.
I have really enjoyed G2 pens for years. This raised it to a new level. Two factors were involved. ” I believe in local shopping but the local grocerues and phaarmacies have them only in Fine Line and all of a sudden they were no longer being restocked in those stores.
I like Staples for supplies so I checked there and they have pens with BOLD tips in quantity. My eyesight has been getting word=se and I can barely read what I have written with ANY fine-line pen. I do a lot of writing and use up a pen about every three weeks.
I ordered three 5-packs so I woukls have enough if there was a future supply problem. I figured a bold line would take more ink and the pens were the same size. In the last three weeksm I have used TWO G2 pens dryMy original buy should last about five months.
They work great! I can read my notes again That is important to me. Bravo to G2 and Staples.
Bold pigmented gel ink provides an ultra-smooth writing system. Contoured cushion grip for increased comfort and control. Translucent barrel alerts user of low ink supply. Convenient pocket clip for taking notes on the go.
My boss, and many other coworkers of mine, love gel pens. Lately I’ve been buying “generic” ones b/c they tend to be more expensive. This wasn’t cutting it for my boss, so he went to OD and purchased some of these Paper Mate’s.
He accidentally left one on my desk and I’m in love. These pens write so smoothly and very rarely skip. They dry faster than any other gel pen I’ve ever used. This is particularly useful for our company b/c approximately 80% of my coworkers are leftys (including my bosses).
Those these are more expensive than generic gels, I’m fairly certain I’m going to only buy these when I’m looking to purchase gel pens!.
This pen is a “must” for my business. I request clients use this pen when signing/initialing papers that have to be scanned and faxed or e-mailed multiple times. While the quality of the document itself may deteriorate/fade–the signatures/initials written with this pen always come through clearly.
This is one of the best pens on the market anywhere. After a full 8 hour day of writing, taking notes, and just marking things, my hand is not sore and the pen consistantly performs flawlessly. I have even purchased some for my office co-workers and even my boss.
Retractable pens feature a quick-drying, gel ink that dries three times faster to keep your writing clean and consistent without smudges. Smooth-flowing ink lays down effortlessly without any drag for a more enjoyable writing experience from your first word to your last.
Ergonomic comfort grip wraps around the color-tinted body to help minimize hand fatigue during extended periods of writing. Plus, a handy clip attaches to pockets, notebooks and more for easy access and storage.
Gel pens with black ink are perfect for everyday use at home, office and school.
I have bought Paper Mate in the past and have always loved them. This is my first time buying the InkJoy pens and overall I am very satisfied. The pen writes smooth and evenly with no problems. I like the fact that it dries quicker than other gel pens and that I don’t have to worry about it smearing so much.
The only thing that I would say is a let down is the shape of the pen. The barrel end, where your fingers are, feels a little insecure in my hand when writing but not a real problem. I just like the contoured shape better because it fits tight in my hand.
The barrel end is bigger than the contoured ones and I can used to it but just doesn’t feel natural.
I love a smooth pen and this pin meets all of my expectations. I love the way it writes and I love that as someone who is left-handed when I write with this gel pen it doesn’t smear or smudge on my paper.
It is hard to find a pan that does not smudge when you’re left-handed and I am very glad that I have this pain in my back pocket now. It’s just it’s really smooth when you write with it and even though it’s in black the bike is very vibrant and it is very noticeable on the paper.
So you don’t have to trace back over so that it’s darker once you start writing the ink is there it’s very dark and it’s very visible and I love that I also love the gel grip because when you write for long periods of time your hands tend to cramp and it’s nice to be able to have a pen that you can write with and while you don’t have to worry about your hands cramping because of The pain that you’re using being uncomfortable.
I would highly recommend this pen to anyone that’s looking for a durable smooth riding pen and if you’re left-handed especially a pin that won’t cause your hand to cramp and won’t smudge when you write.
I love the Paper Mate InkJoy Retractable Gel Pen. This is a great pen and writes effortlessly. It is the perfect amount of inkyness and dries quickly without smudges. It does bleed with a cardstock type paper but it is wonderful otherwise.
It has a comfortable grip and is pleasant in the hand. I keep this pen in my purse and it has not leaked or stained my bag. This the perfect pen for those that like a fine clean look. It glides nicely over the paper when writing.
Overall, I am very happy with the product and it is my go to pen for taking notes or writing letters.
Convenient, retractable gel pen features archival quality, acid-free ink. Comfortable latex-free grip provides extended writing comfort. Sleek barrel design and crystal clear diamond designed top click add appeal.
Extra large, metal pocket clip offers convenience for attaching to pockets and notebooks. Archival quality, acid-free gel ink. Comfortable latex-free grip. Sleek barrel design. Crystal clear diamond designed top click.
These are great pens. They slide across the paper with inky-goodness and the grip is great. My coworkers always ask to borrow them. Finally, I let two of them have one and they were very excited. That’s how good these pens are.
Update April 2018- the quality of these pens has recently gone down. With my last pack, at least half of them ended up breaking before I could use themo (they would just come apart and the spring would fly out).
Was hoping for a smoother writing pen. My favorite pen by far is the Pentel Energel Alloy Pen with Liquid Gel Ink so I thought I would give this inexpensive Pentel pen a try. Not nearly as smooth as the Energel but writes fine.
If you are looking for a similar value pen, I recommend the Pilot G-2 instead of the Pentel Oh!.
I was looking for this pen refill. And could not find it anywhere! But I knew I loved this pen. So decided to buy a whole box of them. I have a pen PROBLEM. So when I say this is the best pen. It really is.
It’s so smooth to write w, and ink flow is perfect. Give it a try!.
Featuring vivid gel inks, these gel pens create crisp, smooth lines that dry 3X faster* for reduced smearing. Each pen has a full-length ergonomic grip that keeps you comfortable during extended writing sessions.
And with their smooth ink, these pens deliver a fluid writing experience. Available in 14 vivid colors, Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Pens are ideal for brightening up your notes, journal entries, or doodles.
*vs Pilot G2 based on average dry times of black, blue, red, and green. Individual dry times may vary by color.
I waited until I had rewards and a coupon in my wallet when I bought these, and am for the most part happy about the pen pack. After swatching, I saw that the light green, light magenta, and grape-purple colors are identical to inks found in Pilot B2P and BIC Gel-ocity gel pens, so if you’ve invested in those, you’re getting repeat colors but in a finer nib.
Everything else is a great selection of colors. I did get some trouble with the darker magenta where I had to do a bunch of scribbling before it wrote smoothly. And even then, you’re going to get a bit of feedback because of the nib size.
The design of the pen is smooth and smart-looking, definitely the more attractive additions to my gel pen pouch. Do they create a more comfortable writing experience? Not noticeably on my end. I do like using them, though.
These Paper Mate Profile Retractable Ballpoint Pens are great to use at home, school, office, or on the go. They are reliable for use in writing big or small projects. They have a dependable and smooth flow to ensure completion of your writing without skips or scratchy feel.
The vivid red ink makes it so easy to see the words/markings on the page with clear visibility. They offer a rubberized grip for a comfortable writing experiences. They are soft cushioned grips to help for a stress free writing times.
Being retractable helps to protect without the need of a cap that many times get lost anyway. No worries about that. This would be a great addition to anyone’s writing tool collection. Pleased with the results and recommend highly! COLOR: In terms of vivid BOLD red color I give it a 10! It stands out when marking mistake or highlighting/circling tasks to make clear what needs attention to.
FLOW: In terms of the smoothness of the writing, it’s exceptionally smooth. There is no skips or as scratchy sense to it during the writing process. BLOTTING: Many pens have a tendency to accumulate ink at the tip and give a smudge when starting to write and normally would have to wipe the tip clean before writing BUT NOT with this pen.
No accumulation or smudging which keeps your project/task looking pristine!!.
I received the Paper Mate Profile red pen to try and state how I felt using this pen writing. I took it into work, as I figured this would be the place I would get the most use out of a red pen. I was surprised at the quality of the ball point and the smooth writing that the pen produced.
My last memories of Paper Mate : they were thin pens, hard to hold onto, slippery shafts, just meh writing. This pen, though, was smooth. The handle or grip was soft, easy to hold for longer amounts of time writing and I didn’t feel my hand cramping up as it can with a smaller grip writing pen.
Then ink flowing easily to write on the paper made it nice. Some of the pens that I use at work seem to skip on the forms that I have to fill out or stop writing and have to be reprimed. They are a basic office supply store and generic store brand name, but I have had brand name pens skip and feel like they couldn’t or wouldn’t write on the paperwork that I have to complete.
These PaperMate pens wrote smoothly, felt comfortable, didn’t give me an hiccups when writing and really seem like they will write forever. They just keep writing and writing. I enjoy the PaperMate Profile pen and will look to them for pens to purchase in the future for a nice writing, non-smearing pen that is easy to hold for longer writing times and a quality line of ink where you write that looks nice on the paper.
I would purchase these again to use for all my uses in the future.

I have been buying these pens for years, for myself and my kids, and have been recommending them to everyone. They are so easy and smooth to write with, easy to grip, and the colours are lush. I never had any problems.
I probably have a dozen or more in the house right now. Then, all of a sudden, one of them ‘exploded’ in my hand. No leaking of ink or anything- the whole case just pinged apart, with the barrel, ink refill and spring going off in all directions.
That was a surprise, but I assumed it would be easy to fix because these pens are designed to be opened so you can put a new refill in. But it would not go back together; there is no thread for the two sides to screw together properly.
I fixed it a bit but it just kept coming apart in my hand, just from picking it up and touching it to the paper. I had to bin it. Unfortunately about another four have gone the same way now. It’s so frustrating and disappointing because they were my absolute favourite pens, and they used to work perfectly, but the design must have changed for the worse.
I will try to continue to use the remaining pens up, but it’s like Russian roulette. I never know when the next pen will explode.
Love the white and orange color of the body. As usual, the construction of the pen is sturdy and comfortable, and the ink color and flow is superb. These pens typically write for about 30-40 A4 pages.
There is sometimes a touch of ghosting, especially on cheaper notebook papers, but any bleed through or intense ghosting is very minimal. I’ve never had an issue with these pens having blobby or irregular ink, and they’ll write consistently all the way up until the ink is almost run out.
Refills are affordable and you can get basically every color of the rainbow (especially now with their new colors such as sepia, grey, coral pink, and more). While this pen hasn’t had any issues yet, I will note that after years of use, the place where the pen comes unscrewed (that you open to put a new refill in) can crack.
This is happening to an Energel I bought about 6 years ago that I use for journaling. I also had one from my college days that’s clicker jammed after a year of continuous, every day use. So the plastic parts don’t last forever but I think that’s a fair result of normal wear and tear.
Anyone who loves gel pens and smooth ink needs to try these! The Pentel Energel Pens are my all-time favorite! :D.
Nicely designed pen. I have two blue and two red and use them all the time. One important thing that buyers should know is that each pen tip is protected at the factory by a very small dab of clear rubber that is easily removed (before the first use, then discarded).
I’ve read negative feedback from buyers who bought as many as ten of these pens and were amazed when not one of them would write! All you have to do is pinch off the little protector thing and you’re good to go.
It’s no longer needed and you just toss it, if you can see it. In fact, it’s so tiny I never noticed it. Just instinct, I guess. You feel it when you pinch the pen point and pull it off. … Anyway, I love these pens.

With vivid gel ink that dries 3X faster for reduced smearing, it’s like a party on the page where smudges aren’t invited. Brilliant color ensures your writing will be bright and filled with fun. Individual dry times may vary by color.
Dries 3X faster for reduced smearing. Smooth ink keeps the ideas flowing across the page. Color: Black.
Oh gosh how can one ever give this product such bad reviews? I find this to be the best gel pen in the market today. It is like my holy grail in office supplies! It doesn’t poop, or smear for a lack of better word.
I’m not one to usually purchase the 0. 7 lead because it is on the thicker side but I’m starting to find the 0. 5 too thin. Now if they can make something in between, lol. As for grip comfort, I’d say it’s one of the things I don’t really like but that’s probably my issue because I write hard so I have callous.
But overall, this pen is great for not smearing and definitely liked the simple, sleek design.
Who says that gel pens are for student’s or the younger generation? I find myself looking precisely for gel pens all the time. I find that make your writing look more creative and detailed than a normal pen.
I often find myself lost if I don’t have a gel pen and my penmanship often distorted with out a gel pen. The vast majority big the time I have one in my purse, my car, my desk at work ( actually all the time) and even throughout the home.
What’s awesome about this set is you have so many colors to choice from. Now some colors are not allowed to be used in the work force but those are used to write little messages to the kids nd husband.
I find it gives them a little smile, it brightens their day. Another great feature about these pens is that it dries quickly. No more smudging and it does not bleed through the paper. So if you want to be bold, you want to make a statement, you want something that is bright and will last awhile I highly recommend these gel pens hands done.
No matter your age, you too can enjoy these pens! Have no been able to find a con at this time.

The Gelly Roll Glaze pens are a fantastic rollerball pens that create a slight raised embossed, shiny line that will adhere to card, paper, glazed ceramic, plastic, metal and glass.
Allow two or three minutes for the ink to completely dry and become water resistant. The effect is best suited to the non porous surfaces. Gelly Roll Glaze pens have a 0. 8mm nib. Before use, remove any protective caps that may cover the nib and dispose of it.
The ink will start to flow as soon as the point is pressed on the surface. Store the pens horizontally with the cap on.
I use the black glaze pen to draw lines and marks on top of an acrylic underlayer. I then do a final layer with neocolors ii (wax pastels). I can easily scrape off any of the wax pastel that covers the black glaze lines.
The black glaze lines are slightly raised, very black, and shiny. They add an extra wow factor to my art. I’ve only been able to find glaze pens in multicolor packs in Blick stores, so I buy the blacks individually from Blick’s website.
I’ve also tried the white and clear glaze pens. I was initially disappointed with the white pen because the lines it laid down were a translucent milky white. Then I read a review where someone said it was a super opaque white.
Gave it another try, this time laying down a thick layer. It’s translucent when wet, but becomes very opaque as it dries. It doesn’t have a glossy finish line the black glaze pens.
NOTE TO CUSTOMER : a lot of copic artists use the white gelly roll for highlights. This is not that pen or necessarily a good replacement for that. The ink comes out very differently from the gelly roll pens, and the look changes over the course of the pen drying.
Drying also takes much longer, so be careful! Definitely try it out on some test or scrap paper before jumping right in to something more delicate, there’s a learning curve. I didn’t end up liking this one since it wasn’t super bright on dark paper, but I did use the blue version on white paper, and the effect was lovely.
I would suggest one of the other colors unless you need white specifically, since you’ll be able to get mileage out of use on light and dark papers that way.
Such Incredibly bright, shiny, sparkly, turquoise gel Ink! I cannot believe how magical it looks on paper! Dries pretty quickly and when I move the paper around in the light it makes the ink look like slightly raised vinyl.
The Ink flows pretty smoothly in medium thick lines also I have had no Issue with the pen getting clogged. Adding layers will make the 3D effect more prominent. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this pen!.
Retractable pens feature smooth-flowing gel ink that lays down effortlessly for an effortless writing experience. 0. 7mm tip creates sharp, crisp lines for excellent readability. Comfortable grip helps you keep a secure grasp on the pen for enhanced control.
Handy clip secures to pockets, notebooks and more for easy access and storage. Gel pens with black ink are perfect for daily use at home, office and school. for science lab testing and other metal needs.
Ive purchased over 6 packs of these in both black and blue ink from various stores. Only 2 or 3 pens out of 12 actually worked! I kept buying more from different stores hoping it was just a bad batch or something.
NOPE! CONS from my experience: -quit writing almost immediately -won’t write AT ALL (right out of the package) -when they do work you have to keep going over your writing or it looks like a secret message to decipher -INK SKIPS are SO BAD that you can’t even write ONE letter without having to go back over it multiple times!!!!! -doesn’t completely bleed through to the next page, but they DO soak through enough to make writing on the back of your paper basically IMPOSSIBLE unless you don’t mind seeing the other side’s writing VERY clearly.
Hard to read anything at all witten on the back of a fully written page because it looks like a jumbled mess ALMOST as if you were writing with a sharpie fine point permanent marker (YES, I tried various brands of paper and it did it with all of them.
) PROS: -on the RARE occasions that they would actually work correctly, I loved the way that they wrote. It was super smooth, highly pigmented writing. Sharpie needs to fix these because they would be perfect if they worked correctly!.
I write a lot, and I mean A LOT every day. I work as a behavioral therapist for adults with developmental disabilities and the charting on one client alone takes an hour easily EVERY DAY. Since my company has yet to fully embrace the 21st century, all of our files are paper forms that we fill out by hand.
I prefer the 0. 5 over the traditional 0. 7 because of the finer tip. This pen is capable of writing very small in the margins and tight little lines on the forms. The ink is smooth, dries very quickly, and doesn’t bleed, even on the cheap copy paper that we use every day.
Its bright, vibrant, and easy to read even under lower light conditions. Overall, I like it even more than the gel pens that I was using before! If you’re looking for a great pen that writes consistently and comfortably every day, this is the one for you!.
The look of the pen portrays quality. Purchased because of the no smear. I was very impressed. I compared it with other gel pens and this pen won with virtually no smearing at all, even when immediately rubbing with my finger after writing.
I plan on purchasing more if I can find the blue barrel with blue ink. The barrel of the pen was blue, but the ink was black. I thought I was purchasing blue pens with blue ink. Would not have purchased a blue pen with black ink.
Personal preference. I recommend as the non-smear is accurate.
Pilot Neo-gel rolling ball pen in black color has ribbed finger grip to offer enhanced comfort and optimum control. Pen has fade proof and waterproof ink to offer remarkable writing experience. Fine point, 0.
7 mm. Black. Smooth writing gel-ink is fadeproof and water resistant. Ribbed finger grip for better handling. Visible ink supply so you never run out unexpectedly. 12 per pack.
I’ve tried lots of gel pens. Many smear or seem to have a reluctant roller ball or don’t last long. The Pilot Neo-Gel pen is the best I’ve ever had, sharp and long lasting. I continue to reorder this pen when I’m close to running out.
These pens are great. The fine point work well writing in small spaces; they are consistent when writing and don’t need to be coaxed to start writing by scribbling; they write first thing which cuts down on frustration when I completely use up SEVERAL pens in a week due to all the writing my job requires.
We purchased this pen to compare to the Uni-ball Signo – I am sad to say the pen is just TOO slim to hold. I have small hands so I can imagine the guys I work with find it even worse. The barrel seems “cheap”/plastic like.
It would be beneficial for the grip location to have more of a grip factor for holding. The ink itself is great – precise and neat.

I’m a college student, so I do a fair amount of writing. I bought these pens because several reviewers said they are smudge-proof. I like pens that don’t smear when I highlight over them. While these don’t smudge while you’re writing, they do smear with highlighting, so I can’t use them for that.
The ink is strong, which I like, but makes a thicker line than I was expecting. Most disappointingly, they run out of ink super fast. A normal pen will usually last me a couple months, but one of these pens lasted 2-weeks max.
I write a lot, but didn’t use these pens any more than I use my others which last longer. If you love gel pens, don’t plan to highlight, and don’t write too much, these are probably a good option for the price! However, my box is already empty and I don’t plan to buy again.
I first purchased this brand/model of pen about 10 years ago. It fits perfectly into you hand and has a cushion where you fingers grip. One of the best features of this pen is that the refill/writing point is non-retractable.
To put the pen in your pocket you must replace the cap. No more ruined shirts because you put a retractable pen in your pocket with the writing point extended. I don’t think you can find a better pen at this price.
I reviewed these pens today but I am writing a review because they are not the first ones I’ve owned. These pens are 0. 7mm but wrote very heavy and make a nice heavy line. You also get every bit of ink out of the pens.
They continue to write until they are totally empty. I’ve never picked one up to use it and it fail to write the first time. They also write exceptionally smooth. Great pens!.

I’ve had this pen for many years. It used to be my absolute favorite. I decided to buy one for all my staff for Christmas presents and have them engraved. Of course I had one made for myself. I used my old pen as a sample for the laser engraver guy to practice.
They turned out great. My newly engraved pen lasted only a few weeks. The clicker has broken off and the pen is unusable. Unfortunately my old pen now has ‘hello’ and ‘ERIN’ (not my name) laser engraved.
They don’t make them like they used to. I’m embarrassed to have given these out, expecting them to be the same quality as years ago. I’m also irked that I paid good money engraving them.
I’ve been using these pens for years and love them. I’ve read that some don’t work right out of the package. There is a little plastic dipped on the tip of each pen. Make sure to remove all of that tip protection, the smallest amount left on there will effect the writing.
And yes, I too have had some of the barrels come apart not screw back together ( thin plastic on threads that cracks) but nothing a little crazy glue won’t fix. Even with some of the quality control issues I’ve had over the years I still buy and use them and they still disappear from my desk.
I’m one of the few that use them at work so when I see someone using one I always comment to that person what a great writing pen they are. Just stock up on them when they go on sale.
I had the pink alloy pen for a joyous 6 months before a coworker work walked off with it. The gold one I’ve now had for 7 months and I might be emotionally attached. This little sidekick is on me at all times.
I’ve replaced the ink multiple times, but considering it’s the only pen I use that seems reasonable. I adore the solid cool metal and the lack of rubber grip. As a writer and poet who prefers to handwrite, I find it very comfortable.
Oh! And there’s no better ink than a 0. 7 EnerGel.
