I’ve only seen 3 out of 4 of these movies and the ones I have seen have been great light comedy movies. Some of my favorite actors and actresses. Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan, Sandra Bullock, great casts and fun story lines.
Two people develop an unusual relationship that bends the boundaries of time and place in this romantic fantasy. Kate Forster (Sandra Bullock) is a doctor who lives in a beautiful home by a lake. Forced to move elsewhere, she requests that any correspondence that arrives at the lake house be passed on to her new address.
To her surprise, she soon receives a romantic note from Alex Burnham (Keanu Reeves), an architect who lives in the cottage she once called home. However, a look at the postmark on the letter reveals that he lived at the home two years before she did, and that somehow they’ve come in contact with one another through a space in time.
A remake of Lee Hyun-seung’s acclaimed Korean romance Il Mare (aka Siworae), The Lake House was the first American production from Argentinean filmmaker Alejandro Agresti; the supporting cast includes Christopher Plummer, Dylan Walsh, and Lynn Collins.
This is a classic film collection of what can be considered some of the greatest romance movies ever filmed, starting with Jezebel and ending with Nights in Rodanthe. I have looked at other “collections” and most of them consisted of films I had never heard of or didn’t really care to see.
Whoever picked the films for this collection did a wonderful job in my opinion as the films are all well known and beloved. How wonderful to have them all in a set! I would recommend this to anyone who would like to spend an afternoon going back through time to watch some great actors in some terrific movies.
Love Comes Softly is inspired storytelling for the whole family. Marty and Aaron Claridge (Katherine Heigl and Oliver Macready) travel west in search of new opportunity. But when tragedy strikes and Marty is suddenly widowed, the young woman must face the rugged terrain, bleak weather, and life among strangers alone.
That is until a handsome widower named Clark Davis (Dale Midkiff) suggests a platonic “marriage of convenience” until Marty can return home. As the months pass, though, Marty and Clark discover an unexpected new love where there was once only loss.
It is a very good story. There is laughter and tears and the characters are interesting. It has a very good moral point in the story. The way the story will lead you to the next story in the series is very good.
It’s interesting to see what will happen in the next story in the series. The value is good. Money well spent. There should be more stories like this one. Michael Landon,Jr. follows in his Dad’s footsteps of directing.
That is great! Janette Oke is a very good writer. I look forward to more movies like “Love Comes Softly”.
A heartwarming story of love born out of tragedy. A man who demonstrates selflessness with no assurance of receiving any reward for his efforts. A lesson for all of us in the true manifestati0n of real love.
Sometimes love just comes softly. ” This is a direct quote from the movie “Love Comes Softly” starring Katherine Heigl and Dale Midkiff. Based on the book series by Janette Oke and directed by Michael Landon Jr.
comes a story about two widowers that join together in a time of need. One of the best love stories that comes from the promise land of the west! Marty and Aaron Claridge (Heigl and Oliver Macready) set on starting a new and wonderful life in the opportunity filled west making plans for a family and farm.
Sadly this is short lived when tragedy strikes leaving Marty to face a bleak future on her own. Or what would have been bleak had Clark Davis (Dale Midkiff), a widower, not suggested a “marriage of convenience.
” They make a deal if Marty can be a mother and show Clark’s daughter, Missie, how be a child again and help raise her, then in the spring Clark will help Marty get back home in the spring when the wagon train heads back east.
This tale is one of the best love stories to be based out of the pioneer days, full of hope, opportunity, hardships, and love that is discovered where once there was only heartache. Truly warms the heart!.

Im not sure who hasnt seen this flick but if you havent yer pretty lucky cause you get to see it for the first time. Its was pretty much a cult film from the opening credits. directed by Tony Scott and starring Val Kilmer, Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Brad Pitt, Samuel Jackson, and on and on.
oh yeah, I forgot it was written by Quentin Tarantino. When it was released in the 90s the geek/comic culture hadnt started yet so watching now, 2020-21, it seamlessly fits into todays pop culture. Im not going to talk plot etc cause if youre lucky enough to go in blind youll be so satisfied.
It is slightly dated due to the time it was shot but thats easily overlooked because of great story telling. The one most important thing is you must see the unrated/directors cut. The theatrical version was cut by quite a-bit which hurts the story emotionally, its honestly two different movies.
It is very Tarantino so theres humour mixed with extreme violence etc. So go watch it now.
It’s funny how the two leads (Clarence and Alabama) of this movie were’nt your typical Bonnie & Clyde couple; however, with all the heavy amount of chaos that was happening around them it sort of drove them into becoming exactly like them anyway.
I’m a HUGE Patricia Arquette Fan! Long time ago I got the Single DVD Version of True Romance & it’s OK; Wish I had found this 2 DVD Unrated Director’s Cut Version FIRST!!! This Unrated version has the deleted scenes, behind-the-scene look, commentaries, alternate ending version and the director talks about why they decided not to go that way, etc.
, so many things you will NOT see in the Single DVD version! YOU CAN STILL FIND THIS VERSION, IN WHATEVER CONDITION YOU PREFER & VERY REASONABLY PRICED!! DEFINITELY WORTH ADDING TO YOUR COLLECTION!!.
This collection of ten romantic comedies set during the holiday season includes A Carol Christmas, Mrs. Santa Claus, A Boyfriend for Christmas, A Christmas Kiss, Holiday Engagement, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, Moonlight & Mistletoe, Three Wise Women, An Old Fashioned Christmas, and Single Santa Seeks Mrs.
I bought this collection as a gift for a fellow writer and literature lover who loves to watch romantic Christmas movies with her husband. The key attraction of this collection was the hard-to find-movie as a single DVD in American format – An Old Fashioned Christmas.
This movie is a sequel to the movie An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving (based on Louisa May Alcott’s short story) which was a very nice film about the Ellis family in New England area in colonial America in the late 1800’s.
The stories feature a young aspiring writer Tillie Basset and her wealthy widowed grandmother. In this sequel, Tillie and her grandmother visit Ireland and Tillie becomes enamored with the son of an Irish noble family who are financially struggling but are keeping up pretenses.
Tillie also gets to to me he deceased father’s beloved Irish grandfather and uncle. If you enjoy literature, this move is a must see and keeper. My friend loved the DVD! Wish there were more to buy. Highly recommend it!.
My wife and I found this video quite enjoyable, funny and lovable. When we considerable many of the movies in the theater and on TV that are not too family friendly but also do not leave very much to the adult imagination or choosing as to how much to watch or not.
This video left us wanting more of such for clean and wholesome family entertainment that we were not ashamed or uncomfortable for our grandchildren to watch the movie with us. And we have already recommended this video to many of our friends.
Now we are waiting for “Undercover Christmas and Snow Bride plus more as a pack. Thanks, Joseph and Ella P Harrison.
In this day and age, how can they sell DVDs without closed captioning? I was told that Federal law prohibits returning DVDs if they have been opened so I couldn’t return it. But how would you know this feature was neglected if you didn’t open it and try to use it? This valuable information should have been listed in the description.
If you don’t need closed captioning, this set would might be fine.
When Julianne made a deal with her best friend Michael to marry each other if, by the ripe old age of 28, they had not yet found their true love, she never really doubted it would come to pass. But jealousy rears its ugly head when she discovers he’s engaged to another woman, and, what’s more, that she’s perfect for him.
What’s a jilted bride-to-be to do? A hijinx-filled romantic caper. Academy Award Nomination: Best Original Musical or Comedy Score.
Shrink-wrapped Note: This title is available in Four disc set and Double disc set. Four Disc set: Movies are consistent with the the disc titles. The Double disc set contains discs that could be played on both the sides.
Sandra Bullock stars in the romantic comedy The Proposal, as a Canadian immigrant who creates a demanding and difficult work environment for her subordinates at the office. When the news arrives that she’s about to be deported to the Great White North, she rushes into a marriage of convenience with her young assistant (played by Ryan Reynolds) to prevent such a catastrophe from occurring.
27 Dresses’ Anne Fletcher directs from a script by Peter Chiarelli for Touchstone Pictures. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi.
Beautiful. Excellent movie, but it is PG13 (and a quick nudity scene where you see just the sides of people for a quick moment. ) Well-cast and well -written. And priced fairly at Target. I wondered how my DVD order would come from Target.
And better service/ packing than most bookstores. We recommend. Target is now my go-to for books and movies.
Sandra Bullock is one of my favorite actress. In this movie she is a horrible boss. Big shot publisher. Her co workers are terrified of her. She can just walk into a room and everyone runs. She also makes her assistant Ryans life miserable for fun.
After being told she is being deported, she decides to force him to marry her so she can continue her big career in New York. Ryan has no choice bc she is blackmailing him with her high power in the company.
He caves and gets to start treating her, the way she treated him for years. Her having to take it bc its the only choice for her to keep her career and life in NY. Once the deport people get her story they start investigating the engagement with that he takes her home to his very rich family where they proceed to tell everyone theyre engaged.
Betty white will have u laughing like crazy as she is Ryans grandmother with secret motives. After the two are there for a few days Sandra learns his hardship with his dad and why he wont except the riches from his family that are to be inherited being an only child.
She gets to see him in his element. The family is very opened arms to her for she was adopted hints the mean act. After a few days of all kinds of crazy with his family. Sandra starts to fall and see Ryan in a different light.
The softer sides of both personalities come out as theyre opposites, but opposites attract. Finally Revealing she knew he was talented, but held him back bc he was the only person that could deal with her.
She learns his past loves, life, family, and the sweet moments of family life with him she had forgotten. After the family puts them on spot to get married In the home town. They go full force to hold it together.
Having doubts back and fourth. They catch each other comforting the other. Once the entire wedding is planned. She agrees and walks down the isle, but the truth comes out. Sandra tells him she cant ruin his life.
She leaves. Once gone he realizes he does love her ( while Betty acts out a heart attack to get him on a plane bc she knew all along they were meant to be) so he can go after Sandra before they deport her.
I cant tell u the ending but you will fall in love with the warmth of this movie. You will laugh and cry. Definitely buy if u want a movie you can watch over and over.
Old story with a new touch. The up to date tale about getting ahead at any cost by crushing the little guy only to be caught yourself is this story. Sandra and Ryan are perfect together. The dance around the fire by Betty White was the only horrible mistaken moment.
It took a light hearted plot and added nonsense to the story. Why a director allowed that scene, is puzzling. It could have ruined the story, but didn’t.
Paris, Wine & Romance: Isabella is the ambitious new owner of her family’s Oregon winery whose dream of becoming world-renowned takes a big step forward when she enters a prestigious wine competition in Paris.
Upon arrival, Isabella meets her biggest competitor, Jacques, from one of the world’s foremost winemaking families. Impressed by Isabella and her expertise in wine, a budding romance develops between them.
However, as the results as the competition are announced, Isabella believes Jacques badmouthed her wine. Hurt, she returns home. When Jacques discovers what upset her, he seeks to win her back, even if it means leaving behind his beloved winery.
Rome In Love: When an unknown actress lands the role of a lifetime in Rome. Paired with an American journalist writing a profile, she will discover surprises about love and life in the eternal city.
Jen Lilley as Isabella and Dan Jeannotte as Jacques (in his first Hallmark Channel movie) star. They are wonderful together. Isabella was all business as an ambitious new winery owner; Jacques is a wine maker from a prestigious family winery.
Jacques is entranced with Isabella and respects her for her expert knowledge of wine. It was filmed in Paris, France just a few weeks before the bombing of Cathedral of Notre Dame. Get a good look of the Cathedral as the backdrop in some the scenes before the devastation.
Overcome by the drudgery of everyday domestic life, housewife Shirley Valentine (Pauline Collins) wishes for a change of pace. When her best friend Jane (Alison Steadman) invites her on a free trip to Greece, she simply cannot refuse.
After a few days of lounging on golden Mediterranean beaches, Shirley is back to her sprightly old self, and when she meets Costas Caldes (Tom Conti), the two engage in an unforgettable love affair which will change their lives forever.
Director Lewis Gilbert does an amazing job converting this one woman stage play into an exotic and heartfelt film. As always, Gilbert impresses with his unique fly-by cinematography, beautifully displaying the lidos and sandbars of the Aegean Sea.
Best of all, however, are the effortless performances from Pauline Collins and Tom Conti, as their characters fall in love and go from frustrated adults to giddy teenagers, proving it’s never too begin life again.
Shirley Valentine should be a classic on everyone’s “watch it again” list. It’s poignant, funny, more than a “chick flick” and the scenery in Greece is beautiful! If you have a husband who takes you for granted or if you are a husband who takes his wife for granted – this is a cautionary tale! Watch and learn!!.
One of my all time favorite movies. I’ve been searching for a DVD copy for years and was thrilled to find this on ebay. The quality is perfect and I’ve also lent it to 2 of my friends who loved it too.
Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet light up this romantic comedy as two unhappy women who swap houses for Christmas vacation landing Winslet in Los Angeles and Diaz in London. After the two exchange locations they eventually break out of their shells and find love in the form of Jude Law and Jack Black.
A light and breezy holiday love story written and directed by Nancy Meyers it reveals that sometimes shaking things up a bit is the surest way to find one’s bliss.
Wonderful (double) romantic comedy, set during the Christmas Holidays. Two women (played by two great stars) cross the globe to escape their broken relationships, then delightfully stumble into new ones.
Love this movie and watch it over and over again! The music is special and the story is a great tribute to Hollywood writers of the past. The story succeeds by creating four contrasting personalities who offer us a rich picture of love and its complications in the modern professional world.
Best of all it’s a film about taking a chance in life and making the most of it. Truly a gem!.
Set at Christmas but a fun story any time- two women swap houses to escape unhappy relationships. They get to know the men in each others lives, which leads to unexpected complications and new possibilities.
Cameron Diaz is all goofy charm, Jude Law is a bit off-balance but likable, Jack Black is sweet and funny and not too crazy, and Kate Winslet steals the show with humor, warmth and compassion. You want to cheer when she finally stands up for herself and her own happiness.
Eli Wallach is funny and poignant as a veteran Hollywood screenwriter who receives well-deserved honors for his work. Maybe jumping into instant rebound romances isnt too wise but it makes for satisfying fantasy!.
I watched The Holiday for the first time when I was a teenager and now I can’t go through a Christmas season without watching it! I love the characters, the storyline is interesting, and it’s just an amazing feel good movie for the holidays.
Ali Davis (Taraji P. Henson) is a successful sports agent who’s constantly boxed out by her male colleagues. When Ali is passed up for a well-deserved promotion, she questions what else she needs to do to succeed in a man’s world.
until she gains the ability to hear men’s thoughts! With her newfound power, Ali looks to outsmart her colleagues as she races to sign the next basketball superstar, but the lengths she has to go to will put her relationship with her best friends and a potential new love interest (Aldis Hodge) to the test.
Constant animal sexual scenes, not funny. Constant dropping the F bomb, not funny. I didnt even make it 1/2 way through the movie. Waste of my money, and I loveTracy Morgan and especially Taraji P. HENSON in EMPIRE! Ill sell my Blu-ray and dvd copy locally, including the digital code.
The trailer wasnt all what it was cracked up to be. Ill bet the GAG REEL will be funnier, whenever I get back to this dvd, if I dont sell it before then. GEEZE. Pat from Oroville, CA.
This is definitely my favorite movie by Taraji P. Henson. Basically the story is she is a businesswoman that goes on escapades with men possibly trying to find the perfect guy. After her boss tells her he thinks she doesn’t understand men she seeks therapy and she ends up drinking this tea which gives her the power to hear mens thoughts and what they really think of you regardless of what they say to you.
The comedy was on point with this movie and the characters are engaging, it’s a great movie and definitely worth watching.
Enjoyed the film. Buyers beware its a love story comedy in disguise. Good chemistry between two lead characters (Aldisand Taraji) Tracey morgan kind of ruined the funny moments for me usually he makes me laugh but felt he didn’t deliver here.
Worth the collection i enjoyed it even if it was a love story in disguise.
When single mom, Kylie, learns she’s made it to the finals of the national Gingerbread Competition, she thinks her competitive spirit has finally paid off and hopes the publicity will help her jumpstart her new café.
There’s just one problem – the oven she’s supposed to use breaks down right before the contest. On the verge of giving up, she grudgingly reaches out to Bobby, her old boyfriend from cooking school who gave up his dream of being a pastry chef to take over his family’s pizzeria.
Bobby allows her to use his industrial pizza ovens at night to craft her ambitious gingerbread confections (with some hilarious epic fails). As the two reminisce about the dreams of their youth, their romance is rekindled.
But just as Kylie is on the cusp of taking the grand prize – and embracing true love — she is derailed by the discovery that her greatest rival is her ex-boyfriend. Kylie realizes she must embrace the Christmas Spirit or risk losing both the contest and her new love.
This is a feel good movie, I love Christmas movies and the characters in this movie are easy to relate to and the story is a good feeling. Lacey’s character enters a competition and decides to bake a gingerbread house, but she is against her previous relationship and the grandma of recipes.
Now she has to ante up her game and win the contest, win the heart of an old past relationship and his son, and win our hearts in which Lacey Chabert did beautifully in one of my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies.
if you love Hallmark Christmas and Lacey Chabert movies, buy this one, you will not be sorry.
I reserve purchase of Hallmark Christmas movies to a select few favorites, and this one made the cut! Lacey C is amazing as usual-one of our all-time favorites in Hallmark movies. This story is definitely one of my favorites.
Who doesn’t love a story about gingerbread at Christmastime?.
Starring Channing Tatum, Rachel McAdams, and Jessica Lange, giving excellent performances, “The Vow” is beautifully directed by Michael Sucsy. It is the story of Paige (Rachel McAdams) and Leo (Channing Tatum), a young, newly married couple.
They are faced with a catastrophic turn of events when Paige is involved in an automobile accident, rendering her comatose. When she emerges from the coma, Paige experiences severe memory loss, including her past with Leo.
Leo is devastated, and exerts heroic efforts to reignite Paige’s memory of the deep love they shared. This film would make a great “date” movie, as it will capture your heart, with its enduring message of how love transcends all.
This is a great chick flick but also a guy, flick, anything can happen to your wife or girlfriend at anytime, and there are no guarantees. it is what kind of person are you? Are you the long haul person, or throw my hands up in the air, and quit? This is what happens in this film.
a n accident leaves his newlywed wife with the last five years of her life gone, and her controlling parents see a chance to reshape her life, through lies and make believe they convince her to leave her husband and come home! Through it all, he never tells her the truth about her parents or her sister, who is also a co-conspirator, and when she finallyu learns the truth about her parents and what is happening–well, that is where you will have to watch the film.
at the end of the film, you will also see the real life family this happened to, and see a picture of their two children. And learn the real family this happened to, she never regained those missing five years.
I didn’t know that this was actually based on a true story! I really enjoyed this film, but I only have one tiny complaint. is that it felt unfinished after it was over. I found it very entertaining, had me watching all the way through eager to find out when she would regain her memory.
Sad, yes. but events like this happen in life and it’s part of a lesson – the only way to get through it is to move forward, not back. and eventually new beginnings take place. Sometimes better than they were before.
I’ll definitely be purchasing this one and I highly recommend it!.
When rafi, a 37-year-old divorcee, meets david, a 23-year-old painter, it’s love at first sight. But that love gets complicated – fast – when rafi discovers that david is also the son of her therapist! Rafi’s about to discover that professional help is going to get very personal.
This movie was not as exciting as I had anticipated. The plot was very thin and predictable. The characters lacked depth (even for a romantic comedy) I loved Meryl Streep though but I was basically disappointed with the entire production.
I loved this movie! If you are a Meryl Streep fan (which I am) you will enjoy her witty, funny, motherly performance in Prime. I rented it and watched it three times in a row. I can’t say anything bad about this movie, except that it was ONLY an hour and forty-six minutes.

All those stars, all those laughs! An all-star cast sparkles in this hilarious and heartwarming romantic comedy from the director of Pretty Woman and The Princess Diaries. Stories crisscross, collide and boomerang in this look at a day in the life of love.
There’s a proposal. Flowers Didn’t get sent. A big fat secret that’s finally told. The “I’ll show up and surprise him” that ended up surprising her. Fights, kisses, wrong turns, right moves and so much more.
Whether new to love or through with love, you’ll fall in love with this 19-star, funny-side-up celebration of romance.
Patrick “McDreamy” Dempsey leads this big-budget romantic comedy, making optimal use of his many swoon-inducing charms. Dempsey is Tom, a wealthy womanizer living the high life in New York City. He happily hops from bed to bed, living by a firm set of rules that keeps him from becoming romantically entangled with anyone.
The only woman he makes time for is his dear college friend, Hannah (Michelle Monaghan), whom he sees weekly, and whom he adores. When Hannah suddenly takes off for Scotland on a job assignment, Tom misses her terribly, and has a dramatic realization about their relationship.
He makes a plan to tell her about it as soon as she gets back, but of course she returns with a handsome Scottish fiance (Kevin McKidd) in tow. To make matters worse, she informs Tom that she must make wedding plans rather quickly, and would he please, please, please be her Maid of Honor? In typical rom-com fashion, the tale quickly escalates into over-the-top, barely believable plot twists, forcing the viewer to turn a blind eye to any holes in the story and instead focus on the pretty clothes and Dempsey’s dimples.
It shifts into full-on fantasy mode, with rugged lads on horseback, Scottish castles, and gargantuan New York apartments that only Bill Gates himself could afford. Monaghan is likeable and lovely in her role as the confused bride, but the star here is undoubtedly Dempsey.
Despite being cast as a slick Casanova, he still manages to exude the fumbling charm from his CAN’T BUY ME LOVE days. His non-threatening grin will likely be put on repeat at slumber parties everywhere, charming yet another generation of teenage girls.
I wasn’t expecting much from it, it just looked like another rip off of a hundred other romantic comedies. I was very surprised that I liked it the entire way through and it kept my interest the whole time! Although I enjoyed the movie, it was not an original idea.
The one thing I did really enjoy about it was that this wasn’t a sad girl trying to get the guy like many other movies like this are, it was shown through the guy’s perspective which isn’t quite as over done.
I won’t give out any details you don’t already see in the trailer for the movie: Patrick Dempsy’s character is great with women and his best friend is a successful intelligent woman. She goes to Scotland on business and Patrick’s character realizes he has actually fallen in love with her now that shes gone.
She comes back and he is ready to profess his love but there’s one problem: she met someone else and is getting married! So now he is her “maid of honor” and has to try and stop the wedding. Like I said, not really an original idea but it is MUCH funnier and more interesting than most of the romantic comedies I have seen.
Especially with him being maid of honor, its really hilarious. If you are looking for an original movie that hasn’t been done before then this is not for you. But if you enjoy romantic comedies and want a good laugh this one is definitely worth seeing.
Big laughs head south of the border in the Farrelly Brothers’ newest twist on boy-meets-girl. When the single and indecisive Eddie (Ben Stiller) meets the sexy and beautiful Lila (Malin Akerman), the guy who could never pull the trigger jumps the gun.
While honeymooning in Mexico, Eddie discovers he’s made a really big mistake. He soon meets Miranda (Michelle Monaghan), his real soul mate. But when the love of your life isn’t your wife, things can get quickly out of control.
Now it will take some desperate measures to turn his honeymoon from hell into the perfect romantic getaway.
5 STARS all the WAY! The Heartbreak Kid 2007 is HILARIOUS I’ve watched this movie so many times and laughed hysterically each time. I’ve also watched it with my friends and family who would think it’s funny.
and I love laughing all over again watching it with them, because of course, I wouldn’t take my grandmother to see this movie she probably would give it a one-star you.
I usually like Farrelly Brothers films, but this was disappointing. There were very few laughs in this film. So few in fact even the gag reel in the special features was a complete waste of time. I know this is a Farrelly Brothers film, so I can forgive the weak storyline, but this was just a poor setup.
The ending was totally obvious and lame. The character of Ben Stiller’s wife is so ridiculous and annoying, I didn’t even want to look at or listen to her, even with the several nude scenes. Carlos Mencia is almost as annoying and not funny.
His stupid gagline was unbearable after the first time.
