There are a few different types of dish cloths that don’t smell, including those made from bamboo and microfiber. Bamboo dish cloths are naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal, so they’re great for keeping your kitchen clean and free of odors.
Microfiber dish cloths are also good at trapping dirt and bacteria, and they can be washed in the washing machine to keep them clean.
20 Best Dish Cloths That Don T Smell
1. MU Kitchen 12″ x 12″ Waffle Microfiber Dishcloth Set of 3, Storm
A cloth so versatile; use them wet or dry for almost every cleaning need
Ultra soft, non-abrasive and lint free, this 100Percent Woven microfiber cloth scoops up dirt and micro-particles
This durable cloth holds up to seven times it’s weight in liquid
These highly absorbent microfiber kitchen cloths are generously sized at 12 x 12 inches to wash even the tallest stack of dishes. The waffle texture works like a scoop picking up dirt and grime whether being used wet for dishes or dry for dusting and cleaning.
After using they can be rinsed and wrung out to quickly dry for the next use.
I’ve washed these three times–first by hand, as recommended, then in the washing machine (long cycle with a Color Catcher), then a third time with an even longer wash cycle and another Color Catcher.
I could live with that except for the fact that they bleed WHILE USING THEM on dishes. Also, the combo of microfiber and waffle weave makes every bit of food get embedded in the little squares, so it’s impossible to rinse them clean between uses.
Have bought for years! Have a different color for each season! Love them! Orange ones bleed at first. I got the orange dish drying towels that match for fall. I wash them together with my multicolored fall leave hand drying towels.
These biodegradable, plant-based dishcloths from Full Circle magically absorb 20x their own weight. Once spills have been sopped, toss in the dishwasher or microwave to disinfect. Thats some good sheet.
A natural cellulose-cotton replacement for sponges and paper towels. Reduce your paper waste with a more absorbent, reusable option. 3 Piece multi-color assortment. Even better? They are completely compostable/biodegradable.
Absorption is absolutely worthy of 5 stars! My only complaint is that the size is a bit inconvenient for drying plates or other sizable dishes. That’s the only reason I sometimes go for a longer, non good-sheet towel for dishes.
Now when it comes to spills, this sheet is a lifesaver! Not to mention paper towel-saver. Cleans up big spills in seconds with very little residue left behind. If a larger size comes out, I will definitely buy!.
I absolutely love these. They clean up a mess so much faster than any other cloth I’ve used before. The absorbency is second to none. And I can’t get over the fact that they are compostable and biodegradable.
A quick pop into the microwave or dishwasher gets rid of that dreaded kitchen cloth smell. Definitely worth the cost.
Dii microfiber dishtowels loosen food and grease for easy cleaning of dirty countertops, dishes and pans. Microfiber gets underneath the dirt and germs, lifting them from the surface and trapping them until the cloth or mop is laundered.
Ultra Absorbent – Holds up to 7 times in weight in liquid, dirt or grime.
Not sure what all these bad reviews are about. Shipping took a little longer than stated but deff worth the wait. For a pack of 6 these are a great price! Perfect size ( hand towel size) but thin enough to not take up to much space and dry quickly.
I use them to dry my dishes and clean up spills. They are a nice grey color. Ordering another one now :).
These hand towels absorb water so so well!! They feel light as a feather and perfect for cleaning or washing a car!! They dont scratch surfaces. If you need to clean a product that you dont want super wet this hand towel is perfect for that job.
Its Microfibers hold just the right amount of wetness to get the job done. Washed my car with one of these and it did so well at cleaning without slinging water everywhere. After washing I used one to help me dry the car it left no water and no spots!! The quality of this product is perfect!.
The Design Imports Essential Microfiber Dishtowel set works well for drying. The clothes don’t have any fibers coming off of them. I use them to dry dishes. I also use them to lay out fresh washed vegetables and herbs to dry.
I like that this is a set of 6 because when I am in a cooking mood I can go through several between drying the vegetables and doing lots of dishes. I’ve had no issues with washing these; I make sure NOT to use fabric softener.
I tried out a 3 pack of these to see how I liked them, and very quickly realized that they could be used for anything and everything. Wiping down counters, makeup removal/face washing, washcloth, (the material is so soft when wet that it feels like a fluffy towel, but with significantly less mildew/bacteria problems) spill clean up, (Bounty ain’t got nothing on Clouds) painting wet towel, (saving hundreds of trees and gallons of water cleaning acrylics, oils, and watercolors from our brushes) sunburn relief, (seriously.
Wet with cold water, wring damp, spread with aloe vera and apply. Amazing. ) and I’m certain dozens more. Which is why I promptly bought over a dozen more. And better still? They’ll all fit in a single part of a single drawer giving me nearly a full new drawer of space in my kitchen, and yards of space in my laundry room where I used to have bulk paper towels stored.
Which is also one less thing to budget for, along with less laundry costs. There are dozens of reasons to love the Clouds, and not a single down side. Could not rate them any higher!.
These are beyond amazing. I was skeptical at first but was looking for something that did not get smelly and this is definitely the ticket. When you first get them, you will think what did I just pay for because they are thin, hard skinny sheets but when you get them wet they are amazing.
They are so absorbent even when they are wet. They dry super quick and no more smelly rags or sponges. Also just threw in dishwasher to clean and it came out great. I’ve only been using my first one for about a month and a half but it still is in great shape.
Can’t wait to see just how long it will last. Definitely impressive and I will always keep these around. Thank you!.
I very much like these. Cloud cloths don’t suffer from many of the issues one finds with traditional sponges. No gross old sponge smell because you can toss them in the wash. They’re textured enough to actually be effective when scrubbing.
They dry quickly after being wrung out. And of course there’s less waste. They aren’t as scour-y as some other sponges, but that’s not much of a tradeoff for me as I usually use a bristle brush on sticky pan gunk anyway.
I use one to clean sink-bound items and another for counter duty, which works quite nicely. I recommend them.
Swedish Dish Cloths are reusable paper towel alternatives for heavy duty or everyday cleaning, made with sustainable materials. Reusable dish cloths: better than paper towels Our eco paper towel replacement.
Reusable Swedish dish cloths tackle your biggest cleaning jobs. everything AND the kitchen sink. When they’re worn out, toss them in the compost. Good to know. Our take on this Swedish invention uses cellulose from FSC certified forests and repurposed cotton from the textile industry that would have otherwise been waste.
Use any of our detergents ( Sensitive Skin & Baby, Stain & Odor, or Dishwasher ) to easily wash in your laundry or dishwasher.
After I ordered the Swedish Dish Cloths I was a little sorry. But the the hand sized thin sponges described as dish cloths are very effective. Wiping the counter is much faster with the large surface which can be folded to use all the surfaces.
I use a specially designed scratcher-sponge for my glass topped stove as it tears up sponges but use the cloth for the wipe-up as it absorbs so much liquid. I can easily squeeze the cloths almost dry – unlike a thick sponge – which means the cloths dry completely throughout the day instead of only once overnight.
However long the cloth lasts it is a vast improvement and likely less expensive. Now I’m only sorry I waited so long to try the Swedish way.
I bought these hoping to use a more environmentally friendly alternative to my scrub daddy and sponges. I put them to the test over the recent holidays. I cannot believe how well these cloths work. They easily took the place of the sponges I usually use for dishes, pots and pans and glassware.
When they got stains on them, I just put into the dishwasher for cleaning. Cloths came out stain free and ready to be reused. One reviewer didn’t like that the cloths were hard when dry. I suggest you fold them into a shape you like and then let harden and dry in that shape.
This condition didn’t bother me at all. I will definitely buy again and would recommend them to others.
These dishcloths are my new go-to. I used to buy traditional sponges, throwing them away after 3-4 days when they would start to stink. I ordered these and started using one about 3 weeks ago and it’s still going strong.
It took about 2 weeks to smell and I ran it through the dishwasher and it came out good as new. I’ve wiped up spaghetti sauce and it didn’t stain! The color or the design has yet to fade. These are fantastic.
I’m probably going to order some for all my friends cause they’re just that good.
Perfect for cleaning dishes to wiping down your counters Features cleaning properties of microfiber with the absorbing qualities of a sponge Contours to your hand Set includes: One aqua color One grey color One navy color Microfiber Each measures 7.
I can’t stand these they don’t clean and are worse than a sponge and more unsanitary than just replacing a sponge twice a week! I quickly went back to sponges. I’m surprised people are leaving good reviews.
Not everyone is happy. My family gave me several as a gift this year and I threw them out after about three months because the just don’t scrub the dishes as well as a sponge. Not to mention the sanitation concerns.
When cleaning I noticed they are terrible at removing food, food odors and caked on food on your dishes, pots and pans. Even after scrubbing up dishes I noticed the dishes started to have sanitation issues because the cloths wouldn’t remove all the food or food refinances.
You still have to buy a green scratchy and even then I noticed additional sanitation issues. Which is the same cost as a sponge with a scratchy side. Even though you can throw these in the washing machine the sanitation issues concern me.
You transfer it to the washing machine with a load of laundry or for me towels. You run it, then toss it in the dryer. You fold and proceed to organize the clean load and transfer items to their designated locations.
By the time the cloth has made it’s way back to the kitchen it’s been touched at least 10-20 times before it gets into the drawer. If you accidentally drop it on the floor mid way it’s not sanitary any more.
This concerns me. You can at least toss out a real sponge when it gets dirty or unsanitary. It stays in one location the entire duration of it’s use. I replace mine twice a week or as needed. The other sanitation concern is the fact they are sensitive to odors, smells and cross contamination smells.
Even though they’ve been washed several times I notice the smell of dead skin on them or the odor of the prior individual that used them. This transfers to your dishes and I often taste the reminisce of this on my food.
Yucky. I got tired of my food smelling and tasting like my other family member’s hands. Grosse. No I would not recommend these. I’m surprised people are leavening five star reviews. I’m sure not.
I bought these for myself and then bought a set for my son in Denver. They work much better than any sponge or cloth I have ever purchased. I went to the Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania store to buy another set.
They didn’t have them and they couldn’t even find them on their website! What the heck!! I hope all stores will carry LOTS of these. Great colors, mold to hand, clean dishes like a dream — including pots and pans — and rinse out.
These dish cloths fell apart after 2 days! I thought it was just one defective one and I had to zig-zag the edges. The foam stuffing was coming out and the quilting was loosening. I set that one aside, and the second one did the same thing within 24 hours! I haven’t bothered to try the third one in the set.
I am returning this set and another set of 3 that is unopened. Very poor quality!.

These surprisingly did the job. I was skeptical about using something reusable, thinking they wouldn’t stand up to the task. I must say they are perfect. I wanted them to use for when I make espresso, for wiping the fine grinds on the counter, for wiping the milk steamer wand, and also for removing the coffee puck.
I was using a lot of paper towels for the coffee routine. Great alternative! Pop in dishwasher for washing. Small difference in routine and big difference for environment. Great purchase!.
I got two packs of these to try out. I have a bad habit of using paper towels really freely if they are nearby, as I hate how icky sponges get and dish rags do not dry fast. I’ve also always had to keep a countertop sponge and a dish sponge.
NO MORE. I LOVE these. I ran them through the dishwasher before use. They held up just fine. I used the heck out of one mopping up lakes around the sink from when I do dishes, cleaning up soap residue, cleaning counters, and soon will try them on stove top.
That first one is waiting in the dishwasher to get its second sanitization and a fresh clean one is out and in use. They are SUPER absorbent, more than a sponge, but with the handfeel of a thin sponge.
They can tackle jobs that tear up paper towels. They are easy to clean. They dry quickly laid flat. The only thing I don’t love is that fully dry, they don’t lay quite flat but shrink up a bit and warp like a regular sponge does.
thid makes storing clean dry ones a little awkward. But they go flat once wet and are so useful I can’t dock stars for that. I love that they can be cleaned by dishwasher or microwave. I also love that they don’t last forever so if something really yuck happens to one I wouldn’t feel as bad having to chuck it as, say, a nasty rag.
Also, so far, no weird odors. I have told my mother and multiple friends they have to try these. Would love to see them in more neutral color options!.
I purchased 3 sets of these and I also purchased a couple from Full Circle’s website, which is more of a cloth texture, just to try a different brand and style. I use both interchangeably and it has dramatically reduced our paper towel use.
It does have a slight stain on it even after washing, but that is to be expected if you use it on very tough stains. I used it in my oven once for some apple pie burns, and even though there is a very light brown stain on it, most of it washed out, and it is still very usable, which is incredible!!! I can’t say the same about my white cotton rags, which famously in any home eventually turns grey.
These are surprisingly very durable and tough. I just love them. I even bought a bunch for my brother, and I recommend this product to all of my friends and family. I love the pattern and color of the product too.
I always hated how regular cotton rags turn grey over time after using them on tough stains. At least with these, it’s only one side and the other side still has a beautiful color and pattern on it!.

I was happy that these dish cloths were now available. I had purchased them years ago but when I needed to replace them, they were not available. Than I saw that they were available again, I was very happy and purchased them and was happy to have have them!.
We’d been using these towels for years, after settling on them as the best kitchen towels / dish towels we could find. They work and look great, are absorbent yet quick-drying, and last a very long time.
Unfortunately, Sur La Table recently eliminated most of the colors and now only offer white (which dirties and stains too easily) and two dark hues that don’t look good in our light kitchen. We’ve always used a very common color — sand (or beige or tan whatever they might’ve called it).
Not sure why they’d discontinue that one. It’s the only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. It seems that the actual manufacturer is Ritz, under the label “”Organic Kitchen,”” so perhaps they stopped supplying this color and others.
If so, Sur La Table could surely request it again. Until then, we’re looking for new towels from another store.
We’ve been trying to cut down on throwaway items, and switching from sponges to these dish cloths has been a great move. These cloths are well-made, wash beautifully, and just the right size. We use one to keep counters clean and then toss it in the laundry at the end of the day.
I have six, and I will buy more. And don’t worry about their being white. I haven’t had to use bleach yet, bu I know I can.
Effortlessly keep your kitchen looking like new from stove to sink, with premium microfiber that’s appropriate for all surfaces. Can be used to wipe away grease splatters, crumbs and over 99% bacteria from countertops, appliances, stainless steel and more.
Sewn-in scrubbing pocket scrubs away stubborn residue. Just dampen with water without the need for chemical cleaners or sprays. Rinse between tasks and launder to refresh.
These are witchcraft! They will blow your ever-cleaning mind. I can clean my entire kitchen with just water, and clean it WELL! My granite countertops shine no matter what was on them with one wipe. You dont need to keep going over it, a good wipe, switch sides of the cloth one time, and its clean.
I cleaned my greasy stove in a quarter of the time, with WATER! You just cannot do that without harsh chemicals traditionally. I promise you will clean your entire house the first day, in an hour. You will find dirty spots just to see the magic happen again and again.
My favorite, is mirrors and glass. No glass cleaner or drying necessary!! WHAT! Yes!.
This cloth alone sold me on using ecloths. I have very dark granite counters and eater spots were the bane of my existence. Just use soap and water, say the installers. but water spots looked terrible and I was so sorry I opted for granite.
Also tried granite special items with no solution. Enter the kitchen cloth and drying cloth to polish and the counters are like new. YES!.
I’m amazed at how well these cloths work on windows and glass tables. I just use the wet microfiber cloth to wipe them down and the polishing cloth to dry and shine. Perfect!! I’m saving a lot of paper towels.
My boyfriend brought the 3pk recently for his curve tv! And he loves it! He definitely wants to buy more for other electronics! It took our sons finger prints right off the tv screen with out damaging the tv.
Affordable and we definitely recommended this to others.
The T-fal Flat Waffle Dish Cloths are made of 100% absorbent cotton and each cloth measures 12 in. by 13 in. The waffle weave material enables maximum water absorption. This pack comes with 8 dish cloths so that you will always have an extra one handy.
Great! I like these so much – I may look for kitchen towels to purchase of a “similar pattern”. Note that these are sized to be dish clothes and not “dish towels” – but they wash great and I like the colors – can go in the wash with my towels and such.
They are set on the counter – they are small and “fall off” the oven handle, dishwasher handle.
I prefer a dish cloth that is not too thick because they dry more quickly. If you’ve ever picked up a thick cloth that has mildewed, you understand! This one is thick enough to scrub with, but also dries well in our humid climate.
Nice set of dish cloths. I use them for spraying down surfaces and cleaning up. I’ve used terry cloth wash cloths in past, they soak up too much of the PineSol or Lysol, so I really have to use a lot of product.
With these cloths, more of my spray goes into cleaning instead of soaking up into the cloth. Purchased the set in gray, and the color is true to the Target. com’s picture, a nice light gray color. I deducted 1 star because there are fray strings along the edges.
Get every surface gleaming with this super-absorbent kitchen cloth. Reusable, machine-washable design allows it to dry quickly and wring easily so it’s great for dishes, countertops and more. Premium microfiber soaks up as much as 50 percent more than ordinary cotton cloths.
Honestly I’ve never found anything that gets finger prints off my phone’s screen protector without leaving scratches or just smearing them around. This cloth without even adding any cleaners gets it perfectly clean! Love having this for the tempered glass fusion protectors! Such an awesome product!!!.
I had trouble finding this locally and ordered online. THIS WAS SO WORTH THE TROUBLE. I was expecting: a larger sized eyeglass-lens cleaning cloth or a normal microfiber cloth. This is not your average microfiber cloth.
This was the most efficient glass or mirror cleaning cloth I have ever used. Forget using paper towels or newspaper. This reusable cloth will be my go-to till it falls apart.
The Envision Home Microfiber Quilted Dish Cloths bring style and increased functionality to the age old kitchen sponge. Our unique quilting process combines two microfiber cloths with a sponge in-between – giving you the amazing cleaning power of microfiber and the super absorbing properties of a sponge in one product.
I have been using these wonderful dish cloths for about 8 years and I wouldn’t use anything else in my kitchen. They clean my counters perfectly. They also make sure that the grease and food are removed from my skillets and pans.
I either place the cloth in my dishwasher or run it through the washer to make sure that they are clean to use again and again. Then when they have been used and begin to look “tired” I use them to dust everything in the house.
Just a little moisture to the cloth and everything is beautifully cleaned. I highly recommend these cloths for every household.
I bought these on a whim because I desperately wanted to stop using dish sponges. They work so well! My husband and I were shocked at the power these have! Even though they don’t have an abrasive side they remove everything! I use them for washing dishes and also wiping down my granite counter tops.
I will definitely be repurchasing these and recommending them to everyone!.
The size looked awkward until I tried it and now I am in love with these cloths and will not go back to a regular dish cloth. Excellent for washing dishes and wiping countertops. Other reviewers are correct in saying that these do not harbour smells like a regular dish cloth might.
I have ordered extras for my mom, mother in law, and now I am ordering extras to have ready for when our kids go to university. There is really nothing better. Perfection!.
Stylishly stock your kitchen and home with this Kitchen Dish Cloth Set by Lavish Home. These versatile dishcloths are made of super absorbent 100% cotton and feature a chic diamond weave, providing a modern pattern as well as an enhanced texture for cleaning and drying.
These multipurpose towels have a vintage farmhouse look that is sure to complement any decor. They can serve as festive hand towels and make the perfect housewarming gift!.
My kitchen needed new dishcloths as they were wearing out after many years (recycled for other purposes now). These dishcloths were what I was looking for and bonus is the quantity of 16 dishcloths are a financial saver as I will have plenty for some time.
The price was right and color selections also is what I liked about this product. Material is good and soft, yet will work in my kitchen.
I received these a couple of weeks ago. It was just in time for m spring cleaning. I Love the way the clothes are thin enough to maneuver into the corners of the cabinets, while wiping down the shelves, and strong enough to do dishes and heavier cleaning of cabinet doors, counter tops, appliance tops, etc.
The vivid colors brighten your day as you work or just walk into any room you have one of these cloths displayed in. Thank you for brightening my days!!.
Wash & Wipe Dish Cloths are highly absorbent which make them great for wiping down kitchen surfaces. They are also a perfect tool for washing dishes, flatware and glasses. It’s True Chemical-Free Cleaning – Proven to remove over 99% of bacteria using just water.
They can also be used with dishwashing liquid. The Wash & Wipe Dish Cloths are bleachable in a 5% diluted solution of bleach. Guaranteed for 300 machine washings. Made in Indonesia.
I love the way these clean. My hands hurt from cleaning as an occupation so when i use these in the kitchen at home, they are easy on my hands to wash things and hand wring. However they really pick up stains and do not wash well.
they do not return to original whiteness. I use hot water wash and do not use softners. Am a lottle embarrassed when I have company. I always say, “Dont worry, they were just washed!” Disappointed.
I love these dish cloths. I have been using them for a couple of years and yes they can get stained but in the care instructions it tells you how to bleach them. I keep mine in the laundry room until I have a few accumulate and then I put them into my kitchen sink with a little bleach and I use rubber gloved hands to gently soak them and I use my fingers to gently swish them back and forth to allow the bleach water to go through them and when the stains disappear I take them out and rinse them well.
Each one is rinsed separately then I wash them in the washing machine and mine are still looking great and I don’t have to be embarrassed to take them out.
I love, LOVE how well these clean and how easy these are. However, for something that is used daily in the messiest room in the house, white is an idiotic color option. I like that in having one color you can keep prices down, but can you make that one color like medium grey? That also matches everything and doesn’t show all the stuff you wiped up.
I would buy ten more of these if I knew they weren’t going to look insanely gross in a month. I don’t want to have to bleach them, not having to use harsh cleaners is the whole point of these.
Wood frame Machine washable 80% polyester. 20% polyamide. Cuts through grease and grime. With powerful microfibers. Super resistant. 80% polyester. 20% polyamide. Cuts through grease and grime. With powerful microfibers.
Super resistant. Will stay efficient even after washing. Suitable for all kitchen surfaces including: ceramic hobs, granite, formica, stainless steel, wood and tiles. Cloth size approx: 14. 2 x 14. 2 inches.
These spontex cloths are brilliant, they clean surfaces and leave them smear free and also absorb spills easily. You can pop them in the washing machine to clean them. It is a pity they are not made in the UK though.
I used to buy the cotton knitted version of these and was very dismayed when I couldn’t find them. However, having tried these “microfibre” versions I find they are every bit (if not more) as hard wearing as the cotton version and was clean very well.
The texture on the weave is as good as the knitted texture for cleaning up more resistant soiling.
This lovely microfibre dishcloth is ideal for washing and drying your dishes, mirrors, windows and more. Offering lint and streak free cleaning with just water. This cloth absorbs 7 times its weight in water and is machine washable at 60 degrees.
These are by far the best microfibre cloths! I use them in my kitchen to clean surfaces and they are the only ones that don’t leave streaks and clean the surfaces without effort. Also they wash very well.
I bought a number of these cloths from John Lewis when they were, apparently, exclusive to JL because I wanted grey cloths. They were initially excellent, but recently didn’t dry surfaces as well as when new.
I have researched and discovered that they should be washed separately from other types of fabric otherwise they will pick up lint fibres which will block up the Microfibre filaments. Don’t wash them with the tea towels!!.
MMM90322CT Microfiber Kitchen Cloth absorbs up to 50 percent more than ordinary cotton dish cloths. Microfiber lifts and traps dust and removes fingerprints. Use it to lift and trap dust without chemicals.
Lint-free, streak-free, scratch-free cloth rinses clean and dries quickly for fast reuse. Machine-washable cloth lasts through hundreds of washings.
I have been searching for these dishcloths for ages as usual supplier stopped selling them. I highly recommend them as they boil and come up as new and last forever. Once you use them you’ll not use another dishcloth believe me.
i love the Scotch-Brite dusting cloth. But I don’t use the cloth just for dusting. I also use it to clean mirrors, cabinets, countertops, bathrooms, shower doors, woodwork, porch furniture, even my eyeglasses.
I recommend these cloths to everyone. I just wish I could purchase these in a local retail store, instead of online.
There are a few things you can do to keep your dish towels from smelling bad. First, make sure to wash them regularly. Towels can absorb a lot of odors, so it’s important to clean them often. You can wash them in the washing machine with your regular laundry.
Just be sure to use a mild detergent and to avoid using fabric softener, which can make towels less absorbent. You can also try soaking them in a solution of vinegar and water for a few minutes before washing to help remove any lingering odors.
Finally, be sure to hang your dish towels up to dry after use. Wet towels are more likely to harbor bacteria and to create a musty smell.
