20 Best Cataract Eye Drops For Dogs (2022 Updated)

My dog was having horrible watery eyes from summer allergies and suddenly it got very chunky. I was concerned and started flushing it out with a boric acid per eye wash, which helped clear out the gunkiness but it was still tearing a lot.

Saw some really drastic before and after results in the reviews for these drops and decided to give it a try. WOW what a difference. My dogs tearing is significantly reduced after only a couple weeks of once a day or every other day.

Her eyes look clearer in general too! (They would sometimes get a slight milky look and that’s no longer there). I recommend this for anyone that has a dog with runny eyes! It seems to do more than just mitigate symptoms, it actually tackles the issue entirely.

It cleared up the blurriness of my left eye. My right eye is still very blurry. I can now see that there is printing on the TV screen ib the commercials. My right eye is a lot better than it was before using these eye drops every 8 hours.

However, even though my eyes seem a tad more ‘brilliant’ after two weeks I wouldn’t say the cloudiness in my right eye looks any less cloudy. Of course, that is only 2 weeks. Also, in no way are there 400 drops in the vials.

First vial lasted the first week. I used one drop in each eye, four times per day. That is 8 drops per day. There are two vials. If they are meaning there are 200 drops per vial? 8 x 10 is 80, not 200.

Two vials. 160 drops, not 400. Also, seems to dry up so won’t squeeze out as a drop and drip straight down. Sometimes won’t come out at all. Sometimes drips out and misses my eye even though bottle is straight above my eye.

Even the way the bottle is punctured is wierd. You need to remove a collar, screw it down so an internal nail punctures a hole, then replace the collar. This means, if you try putting bottle in your pocket to use it at work, it must leak out of hole into area inside spout.

Thought that might be why it went down so fast, so second bottle, I never tipped. Still disappeared fast. But I still reordered. I believe my eyes are clearer than they were before I started using these drops.

Time will tell, though. It has only been 2 weeks, so far. I think, if I keep using them, that my cataracts will end-up being clearer than they had been. Willdefinitely be able to tell ;so if they don’t improve it should be obvious.

My dog had thick cloudy cataracts. Her eyes looked completely white. The vet said she was blind and surgery wouldn’t make much of a difference because the cataracts destroyed the blood vessels that fed the eye blood and oxygen.

our 2 pomeranians love these chews. we crumble them and put it in their food. we’ve tried the powder capsules, but they make funny faces and won’t finish the meal when it’s sprinkled on. what i have noticed with my girl (9 years old) is that the clarity of her eyeballs has improved significantly.

she had always had a slight blue marble effect which has become more prominent as she matures. her eyes are so dark it’s always been hard to differentiate the iris from the pupil partly because of that marbling effect.

I have a senior diabetic dog with poor teeth and a picky palate. He will not chew these ‘as is’ because he can’t and because they don’t appeal to him. He also went on a food protest for about a month so I didn’t push him with the soft chew.

These are absolutely essential for cats(and dogs too) that have been diagnosed with autoimmune eye conditions where tear production has been reduced to near nothing if none at all. This is to compliment Rx Optimmune eye ointment. Together, they work great and I stopped needing to clean crust off my Shih Tzu’s eyes with saline or eye wash. I like the eye dropper bottle better and love that Ocunovis doesn’t expire after 60 days like Optixcare Eye Lube Plus.

However, like Systane Gel Drops, it is only easy to apply for the first half of the bottle. Then the product becomes so difficult to dispense. I would have to squeeze so hard it sometimes comes out the side of the bottle top.

My dog will not sit patiently while I shake this bottle above his face. It made me miss Optixcare so much, I’m going back to it. With a 20 g tube for 60 days, I can waste some drops. I can also use it to clean occasional crust off his eyes or face.

I just rub the excess gel on my dry fingertips. However if Ocunovis ever makes a larger size or tube version. I would definitely try it.

I bought these for my senior rescue whose eyes produce more boogers than tears. His vet recommended eye drops for now and possible medicated ones in the future if these don’t help. Anyway, these seem to help! As others have mentioned, it is a tiny bit harder to get the product out compared to regular eye drops, but that’s because these drops are thicker than “normal” eye drops.

I have been using this product since it first entered the market. It has been effective in clearing cataracts in my cats during this time. I recently had a kitten who became infected during the opening of her eyes.

At first she was just beautiful. Great big copper eyes. then a couple of days later they were closed with infection. The infection was treated and cleared but there was damage to the cornea. Knowing that eye surgery could not be done until she was older I began using the drops 2-3 times a day.

It does not happen right away. Takes a lot of time and patience. The kitten was completely blind. Now the kitten has vision and clear eyes. Undersized, but considering.

Our old (17 years old) Yorkie developed very cloudy eyes & thick leathery senile cataracts. He became blind, confused, falling in the swimming pool almost daily and generally listless. Our vet determined he is not a candidate for cataract surgery and his vision is severely impaired.

I am almost through the first vial and my cat’s eyes are looking better. He is less squinty, his eyes are clearer and he has less discharge. The applicator is easy to use as it restricts the amount dispensed to a single drop at a time.

This product was recommended by my vet to improve the vision and arrest the buildup of cloudy corneas in my 14 year old Standard Poodle. And it’s working very well! There is less cloudiness in her eyes, and she can see better.

I’ll be using Ocluvet on my Poodle from now on. The only drawback is it seems to give my dog some irritation at the time of introduction, but that quickly dissipates.

Found a young grey kitty about 2 months old with one closed eye. Felt bad for her and tried almost everything to try keep her eye open but next day her poor eye would close again. I have been using this Repairian stuff for over a half year now to try and get rid of cataracts in my mini schnauzer’s eyes, and all I can say about them is that it keeps them from progressing even more, and that would end in her being totally blind.

I tried other similar products that “claimed” similar results or even claim that cataracts would be gone after a couple months. They didn’t work at all. Repairan is supposed to have one of the highest amounts of N-Acetyl-Carnosine @ 4.

2%, and that seems to be what is needed to keep chronic cases of cataracts from getting worse, or even get them to diminish or even disappear in some cases; but so far, in my case, it is my opinion that Repairan is the best on Ebay to do what it says.

I can only point out that without using Repairan my dogs eyes would be way worse than they are, so I will continue its use and see what happens.

I have been using this preparation for about two months now, and it appears to be having a beneficial effect. This stuff is expensive, and the little bottles it comes in do not make it easy to administer the required number of drops to each eye of a 70 pound Labrador retriever.

There needs to be a more reliable method to measure the dose into some kind of applicator, and a positive method to activate it. Trying to squeeze these little bottles to apply a single drop at a time to a struggling animal is not easy, and waste occurs.

A separate old-style medicine dropper marked in milliliters, with a soft rubber bulb, would enable you to draw up the required dose and then apply it with a positive squeeze, instead of struggling with a stiff plastic bottle.

I do believe I see improvement in my dog’s eyes, and in his behavior (noticing things he did not see before) and I plan to continue using this product (currently on my second set of two bottles) for at least a few more months.

It is a slow process, but well worth it. My buddy is 14 years old, and still scampers like a puppy when he’s happy, so giving him the best life I can is the goal. PLEASE find a way to offer this in a bottle with a clear glass medicine dropper.

My dog just turned 17 and her cataracts were severe. They looked almost solid white and appeared to be swelling. She constantly had tears running because of them. After looking up non surgical remedies for her cataracts, I came across this product.

My cat for the longest time has had a goopy eye that is partly shut. She had an adventure time outside when she was accidentally let out and one of the neighbors shot her in the face. She’s basically ok after an emergency vet visit but she still has a squinty eye and for the longest time I just thought we’d just have to deal with that being her reality.

My landlord asked once if I was at least gonna her eye drops and of course that’s when I realized they have them over the counter for pets. She does okay with them. I burrito her beforehand and then drop one in her bad eye.

The bottle is way smaller than in anticipated for the cost, really wish we got more but I guess for now we’ll see how long it lasts. I should mention the goopy-ness is from irritation but adding moisture helps bring her eye almost to normal.

This bottle is TINY. I received it Aug 11th. And with using it twice daily on my senior dog, it barely lasted 2 weeks. It seemed to work fine for his eyes, but the bottle was tiny and firm, so it was hard to squeeze out drops.

Considering the cost and size, I’ve decided to buy a different brand. One that comes in a bigger bottle and lasts longer for the same price and works just as well.

The fact that her eye is predominantly brown vs. cloudy is HUGE! Yes it’s expensive but the results are priceless to me the amount of money doesn’t matter. CON’S: Yes the bottles are tiny but if used as directed they last at least a few weeks each so overall your spending less then 75cents a day.

You have to be very attentive when piercing the hole for first use because piercing it too small means no product will come out. piercing too large means you’ll end up wasting a lot of the product.

Possibly this product will work for some people, mine being a stage 3 cataract with stage 4 being the worst, mine was pretty far advanced, and I simply could not make up my mind whether it helped or not.

Initially I thought maybe it did, then as the halos around lights continued to grow I started to feel it wan’t doing very much. I was also taking the caplets that accompany this product to maximise effect.

As a slightly expensive eye wetting product that was easily usable with soft contact lenses it was worth the experiment. My chief gripe would be the unpredictability of the drop delivery. Sometimes you had to squeeze and squeeze, other times it would almost gush out.

The slight sting on application is no biggy. If you have early stage cataracts it is certainly worth spending a few bucks to see if it will slow things down at the very least. Having now had one cataract removed I could not believe the improvement in clarity of vision.

Due to my location mine was done on a volunteer basis by Doctors visiting from the USA, and I can only express my gratitude for their efforts. Those who might have pay large sums for the operation might find this product worth the expense, but I am under the impression it is an ongoing expense as I have read other users reports that stopping itsuse allows the cataract to return.

My pug became diabetic and blind from cataracts right after a dental. This was on top of sever dry which we had been treating with steroids. The steroid was somewhat working but not as effective as needed.

The whites of his eyes were still consistently very red and irritated. So I began using Can C in place of the steroid for two of the three daily applications. After a month the improvement is significant.

His whites are not inflamed and his vet can’t believe how good his eyes look. Best of all, my pug is beginning to see things at times now. The cataract is dissolving on its outer perimeters. This product has given me hope that he may regain sufficient site without going through cataract surgery.

I will continue to use it as directed. I read that it is important to keep the eye from blinking so as not to blink away the solution. So I hold his eyes closed for at least 30 seconds each time I administer the drops.

They seem to be working for my 16 year old pug with cataracts.

This product Diclofenaco eye drops seems to do the trick for my 15 year old Pom. She just recently was diagnosed Diabetic and she went blind. These drops seem to ease the eye irritation and keep the pressure under control The way customer service handled my order by not following up with my Vet to get the prescription was a little disconcerting.

Even after I called the vet and they sent the form over – it came in with no prescription info on they still didn’t check until I had made a number of calls. I called on afternoon and was dropped a couple of times the last call I was put on hold – that went to a drop of the call and when I called back they were closed.

We have been using this product for a year now and it has helped to save our dog’s eye. She had Primary Glaucoma (somewhat common in her breed- Border Collie) in her other eye and it was so bad that we had to have it removed.

That was awful, but she has persevered and remains very active to this day. We give her these drops in her other eye in order to prolong what could be inevitable, the loss of it as well. We hope this isn’t the case but time will tell.

Keeping my girl safe from losing sight in her only functional eye. Lost sight in other eye due to primary glaucoma. 4 year old Siberian Husky, apparently it is a genetic predisposition.

My dog has a bad pollen reaction and his eyes really suffer. I’ve been using this product in conjunction with steroid drops from the vet and it has really helped to flush out his eyes after walks. Once the steroid drops run out I can’t use them anymore as they are too strong so I’m going to stick with this product as part of his daily routine.

Unfortunately my MinPin turned out to be diabetic and had to go on Insulin mngmt. then he got his left eye injured or infected at the kennel. He nearly lost his eye and is now blind in both due to the diabetes and the injury was extra.
