Right price! I am happy to have come across this inflatable mattress for camping. I needed one more and the quality of this one is comparable to the one I purchased at 5x the price.

First, let me set the stage. I acquired this air mattress after my Big Anges inflatable air mattress began to leak air. Without question, Big Agnes stood behind their lifetime guarantee and sent me a promotional code to cover the value of the air mattress that failed.

At that point, they already had a customer for life. But, my amazing experience with this self-inflating air mattress has only solidified my love for this company. I will be replacing all my tents with Big Agnes when the time comes.

Ok, on to my review. I’m 47. I’ve been an avid camper all my life; started as a Boy Scout and still love waking up beneath the stars. This is the best camping air mattress I have ever owned. Period. It’s super comfortable, and has really ingenious valves.

One valve is for rapid inflation and the other is for small tweaks. Great design. I will be buying the wide version of this mat for future trips with my toddlers. Love it. You can’t go wrong with this mattress or this company.

I like my Hinman pad very much. It is quite comfortable. My previous Big Agnes pad folded down and fit into a little stuff sack which made it easy to pack. The Hinman rolls up and is secured by Velcro straps, which make it a lot bulkier to pack.

I mostly car camp, so this is not an issue for me, but it might be for backpackers. My favorite thing, though, is the Big Agnes customer service. I bought the original set-up (sleeping bag + pad) from Big A several years ago.

The pad began leaking at a seam and was impossible to repair. The service rep, Kenya, was so helpful! She told me the pads have a lifetime guarantee, and sent me a voucher for a new pad in no time. Thank goodness I called to find out! #sweepstakes.

I wanted a nice warm air pad for car #covidcamping, that was reasonably comfortable, but not overly huge, and not over the top. Something small enough to pack in a cramped car, long enough for my 6ft 5 fiance, and maybe compact enough for a future canoe camping trip.

I’m also a side sleeper, so something with a bit more depth and cushioning was a plus or me. I also have two dogs who have a propensity to be rough on gear, so I wanted something that was robust, and this seemed perfect! The night it arrived I did a trial run with it in the backyard, and it did deflate like a prior reviewer said.

But before contacting BA, I decided to give it one more try, making sure the inflation nozzles were super tight and snug (because in the absence of holes, that seemed like the only other place air might escape).

Luckily on night 2 of backyard camping, it stayed fully inflated, and gave for a very comfy night sleep. Fingers crossed that it continues to be cooperative in the field. My only *very mild* complaint was that is was almost too warm in the 60C San Diego nights, but all things considered, that’s super trivial.

The material is the best part. It is softer and quieter than any other pad! I’m a side sleeper and don’t bottom out. Very comfortable! Packs small enough for backpacking imo. Remember to inflate your pad asap at camp then give it a little more air right before bedtime.

As the air temperature cools it’s normal for pads to feel like they’re losing air but they’re not! Science.

Overall for the price a very light and packable sleeping pad. Put it over a spot that had a tree root and didn’t feel a thing. I wish it was better insulated as I did get pretty cold in the night but I expected that for the price and if you invest in other aspects of your sleep system like a good sleeping bag and sleeping layers you should be just fine.

Also if you dont have super powerful lungs Id recommend a pump of some sort to inflate it although I was able to get by just fine blowing it up a little at a time then stopping when I got light headed.

I bought the mat as my old one (Exped Airmat) startet to loose air. As the mat seemed to be light, thick (which is important for me as I am slim and need a soft mat) and had very good reviews at a reasonable price, I bought it.

I am very happy with it after the first nights. The air stays in, it´s soft and comfortable and it´s easily inflated and packed up.

Just put about 700 miles on this pad after my sleeping pad failed on me via slow leak in the Southwest for a thru-hike. I sent home the inflatable sleeping pad and replaced it with the NEMO Switchback.

For reference, my sleep system was the REI Flash Air I, a 20°F-rated down quilt, the NEMO Switchback, a 1/8″ closed cell foam torso-length roll-up pad, an inflatable pillow and a pair of down booties.

I normally slept with just a base layer. Conditions along the hike consisted of rocky, hard surfaces to lush, forest ground, temperatures in the 20°Fs and as high as in the 80s. Did not experience rain or snow during the use of this pad.

PROS – Bombproof. Can’t pop, can’t break. – Does not retain stickers, goatheads, etc. This is significant because at night when I would bed down there wouldn’t be any stickers or other pokey things disrupting my sleep.

– Easy to use. This pad was particularly useful during the day when I would stop and take an afternoon nap. Super convenient. I also doubled it as a sit mat by folding it in half and putting it on a rock or a log.

The world becomes your seat! – Warm. Even though the R-value is low, I never had warmth issues. I camped a few times below freezing and stayed warm all night when coupled with a 1/8″ closed cell foam torso-length sleep mat.

Granted, I would be selective about my camp sites and prep the ground prior to use. CONS – Not the most comfortable, but this is to be expected when balancing reliability and comfort. To combat the discomfort, you need to be creative when setting up camp.

As previously mentioned, I coupled this with a torso-length 1/8″ closed cell foam roll-up mat and would ensure I removed rocks, sticks and any other debris prior to bedding down. If possible, I’d fluff up the dirt or pine needles if they were around and this made a large different in comfort.

Additionally, I would be super exhausted at the end of the day and that likely contributed to me falling asleep easily. – Orange vs. silver. I didn’t notice any difference between the silver side and the orange side as far as warmth/coolness goes.

Seems to be a marketing gimmick but maybe I wasn’t in conditions that allowed me to truly test this feature. In conclusion, if you’re looking for a reliable sleeping pad that’ll get the job done and allow you to crush miles then this is the way to go.

No risk or worries of leaky blow-up pads and easy deployment when it’s time to set up camp. Not the most comfortable, but that’s the tradeoff when you’re looking for reliability.

This is a great product for backpacking, but as a larger side sleeper, I find it not quite enough cushion for regular use without something else to go along with it. I carry the short version mainly as a backup for, and supplement to, my air mattress.

It works amazing in that role. I’ve had air mattress failures and had to sleep on the Switchback alone, and like I said, it gets the job done but it’s a fairly rough night for me. I can’t quite commit to carrying just the switchback, but nor can I commit to not having it with me in case of the inevitable air mattress leak.

If you are light weight, not super bony and not a side sleeper it could be all you need for summer backpacking, but I prefer it as a supplement and a back up.

This is a great product and does its job well. No closed cell foam pad will provide excellent comfort on its own but it’s great as an extra piece to add cushioning, warmth, and protection to a full sleeping pad.

It performs similarly to the much-loved Therm A Rest Z Lite Sol but stays packed down more tightly. This may be preference, but I find the density/pattern of the bumps on the Switchback more comfortable than the Z Lite Sol too.

The only downside is that this is pricier than most closed cell foam pads on the market. That said, if you don’t mind shelling out a bit more, I think it’s worth it.

It was hard to find a quality pad under $100. After I had a Therm A Rest fail after one once, I didn’t trust them. I looked at Sea to Summit and Big Agnes. A 4. 5 R value with 70 denier for $100 seemed like the best deal I could get.

It’s not ultra light but is light enough for backpacking and it seems like it can be stuffed. The air pump sack is a little tricky so I watched a YouTube video. It does work and will keep me from having to blow it up.

Big Agnes has sold these for $30 in the past. I wish it had an attachment point for a pillow like the Sea to Summit models, but I also found this one to have the highest R value and lowest weight at this price point among any brands I could find.

Will update if the durability doesn’t hold up. It seems like it’s thick enough and the valve/plug appears/feels good. It does make some noise yet doesn’t seem excessive at least testing at home. If you’re a big guy you’ll want wide.

I’m 6 feet about 175 and it works, although as a side sleeper I can’t have all my arms on it and there isn’t room to move. I hike at high altitude so the lower weight was worth not having the extra wide.

I didn’t notice a huge effect from the side baffles supposedly being larger to cradle you. I’m not a huge fan of the linear baffles honestly, however I don’t feel like I would fall off, perhaps unless the ground was super unlevel.

It doesn’t seem super slick like some people say. If they made it coarser to reduce friction that would add weight. Basically guys this is thick jacket material. It’s not the most comfortable in the world and also isn’t a slip and slide.

I bought this pad in late 2019 and have been extremely careful with it. I mostly camp with my car and when I do I always layer a yoga pad under it to be extra careful about sharp things. Unfortunately, in late 2021 it just stopped holding air.

Throughout the night it would slowly deflate, over several trips it got so bad that I would have to re-inflate it several times per night. For this price I had expected a more durable pad. It’s reasonably warm for summer camping, and deals well enough with freezing temperatures.

Around 15f it starts getting moderately uncomfortably cold. It’s fairly loud if you move a lot, but it helps if you don’t have it fully inflated. For me, none of that weighs up against the lack of durability though.

I just can’t have a pad as unreliable as this, it would get me in serious trouble on longer backpacking trips. TLDR; comfortable pad if you’re okay with having to replace it with a new one every 1-2 years and don’t do longer backpacking trips where you need reliable gear.

Overall I am pleased with my Insulated Air Core Ultra. The pad is exactly what I expected having tried other Big Agnes pads in the past. There is a minimal amount of “crunch” that fades once the pad gets used.

The air chamber is nice in the sense that you can dial in your comfort, for me, when the pad is fully aired up it’s very hard as has been my experience with Big Agnes pads. That really allows you to let out a lite air for extra comfort and minimize the contraction of the air due to the atmospheric changes.

This pad was recommended to fit with my Anvil Horn 15° bag also and it fits very snugly into the backside of the sleeping bag. One negative that I have is that the way this pad airs up is a royal pain.

I am getting better at using the air sack but I could totally air this up by mouth much faster although I won’t for moisture purposes. This pad really checks all of the boxes when it comes to backpacking and Big Agnes really does a good job.

I will also note I was not paid for this nor do so have any affiliation with Big Agnes. I have used their gear for a long time and know what to expect.

While this review is for the pad, it begins with the corresponding cot. I purchased the XXL cot earlier this summer, for a camping trip. The cot was very comfy, and I wasn’t sure if I needed the pad.

When I was later invited to go with a friend to a cabin with bunk beds, but no bedding, I bought the XXL pad to sleep on. Two days of rain kept us close to the cabin, and there was napping! The pad was thick and dense enough to keep me comfortable throughout the nights and naps.

The compression straps allowed me to repack the pad in the box for storage when I returned home. I have a sketchy lower back, and felt fine after waking. The pad gave decent support. Remember, I was sleeping on a sheet of plywood, not the cot I bought earlier this year.

I can’t wait to use them together.

I bought this sleeping pad, along with the XXL cot, last February and have been sleeping on them everyday indoors. I like that I can easily fold them and pack them away because it makes cleaning much easier.

I think they’re also very comfortable and after almost 6 months, they still look brand new. Both the pad and cot seem very sturdy and well made. I do plan on going camping at some point and, after much testing, I’m definitely going to bring this pad and cot along.

I spend most of every summer sleeping on cots, about 25% of my life. From being deployed on wildfires in the Pacific Northwest to hurricane relief in the Southeast as a Wilderness Rescue Paramedic. I sleep on sturdy heavy military style cots, lightweight backpackable cots, even FEMA emergency cots.

Wherever I am sent, and whatever cot I end up calling my temporary home, I make sure I bring my Teton foam cot pad for the duration of my stay. Not only for the physical barrier it gives me between my skin and the last random occupant, but also for the divine comfort I have come to rely on in all kinds of climes and places.

The pad is not super light, at 6 pounds, but I am never packed so light that I can’t make room amongst the required items in my luggage. The only downside to this pad is the absorbent nature of the material.

This is why I usually place a sheet or poncho liner over the pad, this also provides a strange sensation of “home” when you smell a crisp washed sheet.

Virtually indestructible is a stretch*, but this pad is still a great investment. I’ve used it by itself and as a base layer for my inflatable pad. Great for extra insulation and reducing the slip ’n slide of the air pad on the tent floor.

Good sit pad, good for lounging lunches and midday naps on trail. Love the accordion folds. I had a rollable RidgeRest previously and it was a bit much to pack down. You will not get a good night’s sleep if you use this pad by itself, but you will have a better night sleep than you would without any pad at all.

It will keep you warmer and slightly more cushioned than if you were directly on the ground. Good for minimizing pack weight and the thermal reflection technology is legit. If it’s all you have, get really tired before crashing for the night 🙂 then you won’t care how thin it is.

*If you end up in a scramble-y situation with a CCF pad on the exterior of your pack it will lose some chunks. It’s sad, but it happens.

As happy as I am getting this on sale, if this pad is regular price, I’d reccomend the Nemo Switchback for $5 more as it packs 20% smaller & has a luxurious ~0. 2 inches on the zlite. Nemo’s thermal coating also seems to have a protective layer on it for better durability.

Otherwise: Amazing for EVERYTHING! instant comfy layer for picnics, beach seat, pre/post-portage napping, sun shade, fire-fanning, warm up a cold seat, or even a just-alright lake floatie (not a PFD ofc).

I’m a side sleeper so glad to have something underneath my neoair in case of issues with the inflatable, plus extra warmth, and a foamy layer to contend with the rocks underneath. Saw these everywhere around fairy creek blockades and understood why once I was inflating my all air pad in the rain, certainly will use zlite alone for more backcountry stuff from now on.

Highly durable. Went everywhere with me. All around the world. In top condition for 6 years, until it got stolen. So I’m definitely getting a new one. Not even a single rip or tear in all that time. And I wasn’t particularly careful with it.

It was on rocks and rough ground, at plenty of campsites, in tents, on high mountain tops etc. Seriously awesome, super lightweight and practical product, I’ve used to sleep and as a seat all over the globe.

It also insulates really well and keeps one’s back warm on cold ground, even during intense, teeth chattering, freezing nights. And it’s comfortable. Thermarest Z Lite Sol ticks all boxes for me and I’d personally never buy any other sleeping pad.

I was looking for a sleeping pad that had certain specifications. This ended up as my top pick after many hours of looking at every sleeping pad on the market that I could find that met these specifications and was under $140.

In short. it is compact, has foam and air for r-value – comfort – and compactability, it is 3 inches thick which is enough so you don’t touch the ground, it is long enough for a 6 ft person and a pillow, it has a high r-value of 4.

3 which is good for most temperatures year-round (except perhaps snow). It seems fairly durable and does not make a lot of noise when sleeping on it as some other brands do. It is wide enough to lay with your hands at your side but not extra wide.

It is fairly lightweight and can support a lot of weight. It can be used for camping and backpacking (although it is the widest (when packed) pad I would recommend for backpacking). I do not like pads that when packed are longer than your backpack.

I like this pad because it is not long when packed. It has a 3 in 1 valve for fast inflation/deflation, inflating without deflating when you stop, and deflating without inflating when you stop. You can buy a separately sold compatible air pump sack by Sea to Summit for inflation without electricity or breathing a lot.

and using it instead of your breath introduces less moisture into the pad – which can lower the r-value and cause mold. Few downsides: I would like it more if it was less wide and overall smaller – both in regards to packed dimensions.

but that may be difficult to design and use materials that result in a higher cost. I like that is is wide instead of long. It is the most difficult pad I have rolled when packing it up. but it is still doable.

I would have liked if it came with a bag/sack that could easily be secured well to the outside of most backpacks – and if it was rain-proof. If it wasn’t obvious this in not the pad for ultralight backpackers, but if you want these specs under $140 this is compact and the #1 I found.

(The next best pad #2 which I will not list here is about 2 inches less wide and 2 inches wider when packed – it however is less wide unfolded and and unnecessarily thick) (a top pick but further down on the list is very compact however it is noisy and has an unreliable R-value due to its design).

It’s supposed to be a self-inflating mat, but even after hours with the valve in the inflate position, the mat was still looking like a pancake. I tried for 3 days. So. it doesn’t self-inflate. I decided to blow air by mouth, but I really, really hate to do this as it makes me want to barf.

The mat doesn’t just need a couple of blows, but way too many. The mat held air after I blew into it for a long time. After calling REI, a nice rep told me to try a pump. I had a pump for an air mattress and decided to try on the Sea to Summit.

The air hose didn’t fit 100% but was good enough. I filled the mat with air but here is the problem: when removing the hose, the air rushed out of the mat and that’s because the hose can only fit into the open hole, not the gridded orange plug.

I am disgusted with the so-called new fantastic technology. I used to have Therm-a-rest mats that would inflate 90% without blowing air into them. Blowing air meant touching up, not blowing until you get nauseated.

I got this for car camping, but car camping might take me at higher elevations sometimes and I hate to think how it feels when blowing my mouth for 5 solid minutes. This is nonsense and I think I will return it.

I now come to think that I don’t need a brand name for such a lousy product. I did see $30-40 self-inflating mats that are probably exactly the same. In that case I can accept the limitations. I wanted something functional, not lousy product that is called brand name.

I’m really frustrated by this experience.

After 20 years I decided to replace my old sleeping mat. My old mat was light and thin, self inflating, designed for bushwalking, but sadly my hip could was getting sore on the old mat as I’m a side sleeper and getting creaky!! I looked at a variety of other makes and slowly knock them out one by one.

I wanted one that was comfortable, had some but not to much depth and was compact when not used. One good brand I looked at needed a pump to top the air up, not much use when you’re ferreting around at night trying to put an extra air into the mat and more gear to haul around.

Another used a bag to top up air. In the end I went for this Sea to Summit mat. It was thicker than my old one but still could be squashed down for easy transport. As it was I needed a mat for two weeks as we were camping out so the mat got a good trying out.

This mat was just great. It was comfortable no pressure points on my hips and I slept well. The mat also did not leak air so no nocturnal topping up!!. It squashed down well for travelling or walking.

Very happy.

I’ll be honest: I purchased this (on sale) because of its affordability. I didn’t have great expectations, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised to discover that I sleep soundly and comfortably on it – despite being a side sleeper with back pain issues.

I do use a closed cell foam pad underneath for greater comfort/warmth. It struck me as awkward to carry until I realized that, rolled up tightly, it tucks nicely under my pack’s brain. If you aren’t obsessed with ultralight gear, this works well as an economical backpacking pad.

I bought 2 of these pads 2 years ago as my son and I were getting into backpacking on a budget. They lasted through several trips with zero issues, were durable, and almost more importantly. they weren’t loud.

If you’ve ever backpacked with someone who has a loud, squeaky air pad you know what I mean. Recently during a camping trip one of the pads developed a slow leak. I contacted Sleepingo customer service, and even though I no longer had the Amazon order #, they sent me a brand new one.

Sleepingo is definitely a gem and I always recommend them to the Boy Scouts in my troop and friends that I backpack with.

Super awesome sleeping pad! I’ve been using it for about 2 months now. I’m about 6’3 and it works perfectly for me. I definitely don’t treat it with as much care as I should, but despite this, it has held up in perfect shape.

It inflates in roughly 7 blows, which still has me amazed. Its not super loud when shifting through the night and its super comfy. I’m a side sleeper too, which kind of had me worried for a sleeping pad.

But this thing really works well. It also packs down to the size of a water bottle, saving me tons of room in my backpack. I’ve never written a review before but this one definitely felt worth it!.

I previously owned a regular Insulated Static V. I purchased the lite version for a few reasons. 1. I hammock camp and just adopted a second dog, who wouldn’t fit on the Klymit dog bed, but I also couldn’t fit a second dog bed in my hammock bug net.

2. My boyfriend and I camp together, but having two different sleeping pads led to them sliding apart and one of us ending up on the ground. I bought this with the intention of using it with the Double V sheet per the company’s answer on their site that the sheets would also fit this version.

I just took this pad on a 5-day camping trip and used it as my pad, putting the non-lite version on the ground for the dogs (which did work out, FYI). Pros: It is just as comfortable as my original non-lite version and it is substantially lighter.

However, on the cons end, it does not fit the regular Static V sheet. The edges kept popping out because it seemed to be just a bit wide for the sheet. It was also awkwardly fitted in the corners since the sheet is designed to fit over the air nozzle on the non-lite version.

I haven’t used it with the Double V sheet yet, but I can’t imagine it will fit the two different versions either. Surprisingly, it also didn’t fold down quite as small as my non-lite version, but this may have been the fault of the stuff sack.

I also preferred the older style of inflation valve versus the single flip top style for inflation, but it did work better to deflate the pad, so that seems to be up to personal preference.

This is a very well designed and made sleeping pad, incredibly lightweight and super easy to inflate. I can get it fully inflated with a maximum twelve blows or puffs, there is no need for a pump. I’m a big guy at over six feet tall weighing 95kg, and I’m a side sleeper as well and the V-Chambers design of this pad giving a height of 6cm’s when fully inflated provides a very comfortable ammount of loft and support for my big frame while lying on my back or side.

I also like the side rails design feature that helps keep you centered on the pad while sleeping, or in my case while I toss and turn in my sleep. It is a very quiet sleeping pad and does not have the dreaded crinkle noise that other insulated sleeping pads can have.

This is another feature I like very much. I have found by folding it twice length ways before rolling it up it actually rolls up to fit inside the carry bag about two inches shorter than the bag which is another small bonus.

One thing I question is Klymit’s claim that is has an ‘ R ‘ value of 4. 4. Having done some research before I purchased this pad there are some very good reviewers on Youtube channels who explain that Klymit have their own rating system on ‘ R ‘ values that does not follow what is widely accepted as an industry standard.

I still went ahead and purchased this pad because my priorities were the size and weight factors, as well as how easy it is to inflate and the comfort factor. Now that I have one I would have to agree with other reviewers in saying I very much doubt it’s ‘ R ‘ value is 4.

4. The smart thing to do is to use a lightweight closed-cell foam sleeping pad underneath the Klymit pad. I use a Therma-a-Rest RidgeRest Classic which is virtually indestructable and gives excellent protection from sticks and branches or rocks in wild terrain, and it also has an ‘ R ‘ value of 2.

6. It also helps keep you off the cold ground in Winter or in cold climate situations and provide a much better nights sleep. Even one of the cheap closed-cell foam yoga mats you can get from BCF would be great for this purpose.

Over all I’m extremely happy with this pad and can highly recommend it.

I don’t consider myself to be huge but with a normal 20 inch air mattress I’d find my hands on the ground so I needed something wide and this fit the bill. This replaced a 25 inch self-inflating mat that also fit the bill but those are just too big when packing gear on an airplane.

This is a fraction of the size. We have 2 of these and have used them for at least 5 2 week camping trips in addition to regular weekend camping trips over 5-6 years now and had no issues with comfort.

We have a AAA powered thermarest neoair pump as well since this is a not that easy to fill by mouth regardless of what the company says. It takes a few minutes and still needs a few breaths to finis the job but very convenient.

So extremely happy with these mats for comfort, packed size and durability. Highly recommended especially for the price. My only warning is in cold weather you really feel it, meaning below 5C. We put a blanket on top but still.

I was really surprised how light and compact this sleeping pad actually is. There could be lighter and/or smaller ones available but this is fine for my current needs. I wanted something for more comfortable tent and car camping, even as back up for a friends floor etc! Once lying on the pad it feels well cushioned, at least on hard floors, for back or side sleeping.

It’s a perfect size for me, as I didn’t want anything much wider or longer than my body. I haven’t had a chance to try for any length of time, I’m exited to try it on rocky shores and uneven forest terrain.

It feels like a good and sturdy material. Time and use will have to determine the durability and puncture proof quality of this pad. I like being able to pump it up manually, or with the option of a pump (sold separately!) I was able to inflate it in 13, maybe 14 breathes.

I am hoping this provides a more comfortable sleeping experience than just using the foam roll up pads!.

I have the regular Static V Luxe which works very well for me in the summer. And I’ve been very happy with the peformance of that and how well it’s held up for being inflated non-stop over 4 nights at a time – never losing air or firmness.

I’m glad I could finally get the Insulated Static V Luxe for cooler spring/fall camping. The pack size is a little bigger than regular one, but it’s not a big deal for my car camping. After inflation, it performs exactly the same as the regular one as far as inflating and comfort on the ground as a side sleeper.

I used the inflation sack to blow it up and it only took 4. 5 times. As for being warmer: Yes it is. The floors in my house are very cold b/c of crawl space and 27 degree outside temps. Anyway, after laying on it for a few minutes, I could feel a warmth coming back to my body.

If I could feel warm laying on my freezing cold floors, then it will definitely be helpful when I’m out in mid-40s to mid-50s to help with night chill. The Static V Luxe line has made it possible for me to camp and sleep in comfort, and I’m thrilled to finally have the insulated one.

My husband and I bought Static V’s after using old school Thermarest pads from the 80’s and while they are great pads I toss and turn and even with the pad sleeve on my mummy bag I couldn’t stay the Static V through the night.

Not a product complaint on the static V. Hubby is a back sleeper and we both just wanted a way to be closer in the tent and before we bought the Kylmit Dog Bed, our beagle also needed to be on the sleeping pad with us.

Talk about cramped! (Husband is 6′ 1″ and weighs 260lbs, I’m 5′ 1″ and weigh 130lbs, dog is a Beagle weighing about 35lbs. ) This Klymaloft pad is AMAZING. NO NOISE when you move. More than enough room for my husband, me AND the DOG.

If you have little kids you could plop like six of them on here laying across the width. The material on the bottom does slide on the tent floor but I put my old Navy Surplus blanket under it for more insulation/condensation barrier and it’s *chef’s kiss* I haven’t gotten a pump for it yet as the first few months I had the pad this site was sold out and my local shop was as well.

so yeah, it takes between 100 and 102 Wim Hoff breaths to blow it up, LOL. I do them 25 at a time so my nose doesn’t feel like it’s floating in front of my face. I found that, with my husband’s weight being greater than mine the more full the pad is with air the more comfortable it is for the both of us.

I underinflated it on one 2 night trip just to see how that felt and honestly. I still didn’t feel him if he moved on the pad thanks to the padded top! Dog hair brushes off of the pad super easily, surprised by that.

Deflating is easy but I find it deflates faster if I don’t flip the valve completely over to “deflate”, I just flip it in the “middle” then roll my body across the pad. LOL Works for me! Awesome product for car camping and as an extra “bed” around the house for guests.

Would love to see a double bag with a sleeve to accommodate this pad! Also, love the color. It’s nice to find camp gear that isn’t on the loud side visually.

Hands down the most comfortable sleeping pad I’ve used. I’m 6 foot tall and about 220 and toss and turn in my sleep and I don’t bottom out on this pad(XL) or roll off. It is not a lightweight pad so while not a great option for logging lots of miles it makes for a great car/travel pad or one that’s perfect for short hikes where you’re gonna set up camp for a few days.

Worth the weight in that case in my opinion. Definitely get the rechargeable air pump for this! The flip valve cover door can be tricky to completely seal but once it is I have not suffered any air loss overnight.

A nice addition to this product would be a v-sheet to accompany it which currently Klymit does not offer. Would buy again without a doubt!.

We’re in our 40s now and sleeping in a tent just isn’t ideal. We’ve only used this for one night car camping and it was awesome sleep! It’s larger than two single pads. Looking forward to this weekend for two nights and a bit colder temps.

We are using old flannel fitted sheet to help protect it and comfort with sleeping bags. You cannot blow this up by mouth. I tried at home and barely made a change in several minutes with breaks to not pass out! Had to go back and buy the small rechargeable pump.

Filled it up in about 10 minutes.

I have used a lot of mattresses throughout my life. I can honestly say I think this one is the most comfortable and sleeps as similar as you can to a real mattress. To go from sleeping on the ground, then to an egg crate style, to other air mattresses, then to this.

is almost a life changing experience. These pack smaller and are about as light as one of those large “Z rest” style mattresses you see, yet are infinitely more comfortable. This particular one has been through a lot and still holds air like a champ.

My old double stuff Z Big Agnes has more holes in it than Amber Heard’s case and seems to be not nearly as tough as this one. Buying a little rechargeable inflating device will be worth carrying as well and this thing inflates in no time at all.

And for redundancy it can also be used to fan your fire. It may also be prudent to bring some waterproof patching material and perhaps a small thing of superglue on extended outings (both can double to repair clothing, tents, tarps, etc) in case of puncture.

Yes “ounces equal pounds, and pounds equal pain”, but honestly, the older I get, having something like this is worth it. I don’t mind making a leaf/grass/pine straw mattress in the bush for super light weight, but this thing will allow you to get some sleep.

Even if you are a side sleeper. Overall, after spending a good portion of my life outside, using this thing with a bivy sack and sleeping bag, or inside a tent, is absolutely worth it. But for me, the risk of puncture is still worth taking this over an egg crate/pad style (which I have also used very, very extensively).

This is a VERY comfortable sleeping pad. The thicker outside edge on each side was a big plus for me as I’m a fairly active sleeper. It keeps you corralled which keeps you asleep. The quilted top really does make a difference for comfort and keeps you from sliding off and waking up! At 5’10” the long was too long for me but the 24″ width was perfect.

I’m sure the regular wide will be perfectly comfortable and its weight is a reasonable tradeoff for some of the “oz’s lighter” models out there. Which is why I am so sad to see it go! My biggest issue with this sleeping pad, and a deal breaker, is its inflation design.

In my opinion the pad inflation sack is faaaar too small and it’s bulky wall thickness makes it near impossible to take advantage of the vortex method to fill it up. After giving it a few goes I decided that it just wasn’t worth trying anymore.

Some others out there have bags twice this size. One well designed competitor took me three breaths! I literally gave up on this one every time I tried. No worries, I transitioned to my Tiny Pump X to help me out.

With five adapters not one worked on the “In” valve OR the “out” valve on this “game changing comfortable” sleeping pad. This is a tragedy. For such a comfortable and light sleeping pad you shouldn’t have to nearly pass out on it after trying to blow into a hole that’s not designed for it.

Double the bag size, cut the wall thickness down to a fraction, to make it as easy as your competitors to use and I’ll buy it. Follow your comfort standards into an inflation sack/comfortable pillow combo and I’d probably pay another $75 for it.

We were headed out on a 5 week road trip, mostly camping, and I was beginning to panic. I’m a side sleeper nursing a chronic low-back / tailbone injury. I was afraid of what this trip would do to my body.

Honest answer: I’ve never slept better than I do on this air mattress! I never touch the ground, I can squirm side to side as needed. It’s incredibly quiet (compared to pads I’ve had in the past) We covered our two pads with a queen bedsheet because it was going to be too warm for sleeping bags and we didn’t want to sleep right on the pad, which could have made it very noisy and slippery but just did not at all.

No air leaks out of it unless there are massive temperature shifts overnight (85˚ –> 35˚ one night! Hey hey North Rim!) And was extremely resilient to strange objects underneath – errant sticks or rocks we discovered had been under us in the morning.

Never felt them and the pad didn’t pop. AND it was sturdy enough that on that 35˚ night when my 9 year old was too cold on his foam mat, he could climb in with me and we could both lay sideways comfortably on it.

I continue to be impressed with this mat 8 months and about 50 uses after purchase. It was worth every penny. Especially when you buy it from REI because of dividends and their great return policies.

I bought one of these in 2020, looking to replace the cheap inflatable pad that most people have bought when they first started. This pad was everything I wanted. My girlfriend loved it so much, I bought one more just so I could drag her out for more trips! I toss and turn all night and never wake up my partner because there is no crinkly insulation like you find in many other pads.

I’m not an ultralight guy so the size and weight are well worth the quality of sleep I get. The downside to this pad is definitely the self-inflating concept. I have yet to see this pad inflate to even 50% of what I’d expect.

This isn’t a huge issue because it only takes a few breaths to blow it all the way up. Time will tell how this pad handles that type of moisture from breathing into it.

Haven’t used it yet, but in the tryout it inflates easily and fits exactly in the space I need it for. Having a little trouble deflating it to a size to fit back into the bag, but that will come with practice.

Certainly feels it will be comfortable for our camping trip. One issue is getting the two airbeds clipped together – it’s very hard when they are inflated. Something to work on.

I’ve never used a self inflating mattress and gave this one a go, once I got the right amount of air in there it was comfortable enough. Very narrow though, so I might have been better getting a double instead of a single, but probably fine for a child or smaller person.

I have been using my mattress for 6months now and it is great. My 30 kilo dog walks all over it and sometimes sleeps at my feet on it. So i have purchased another one to make it into a double. I find that they do not slip apart even when not using the prestudds.

Depending on the amount of air you allow into the mattress it can be soft or hard. After being in storage. The first time you use it; the mattress needs about 24 hours for the foam to rise to full capacity.

but even when not at full capacity it still offers a good mattress to sleep on.

This is a great pad overall and I’d highly recommend to anyone looking to get into backpacking/camping! Pros: – This thing packs down SMALL! Helpful for when I’m carrying all my gear and a few days of food.

– The crinkle and noise associated with a lot of inflatable pads is very minimal. Way quieter than my old Nemo! – This pad is very easy to inflate without a bag or extra accessory. I didn’t feel at all lightheaded and it only took a few minutes.

– Cost! A really nice pad with quality materials for a very affordable price. Perfect for those looking to lighten their pack and skip those $$$ Ultralight gear purchases. Cons: – A little cold in the early spring, but not enough to ruin the trip.

Paired with a warmer bag, I don’t think that this will be a huge problem. – The weight is pretty high given the size of the pad, but I’d still consider this a lightweight option. Despite being a short, it still came out just about as heavy as my usual full-length pad.

Overall, I’d say that this is a good option for people new to the hobby or looking to lighten their pack on a budget. Paired with a few other lightweight and ultralight options, my base weight for a week long trip was still under 13lbs before food/water.

Pretty nifty! Definitely going to be recommending this to friends looking for an affordable and more accessible way to enjoy backpacking.

I was worried about sleeping on a sleeping pad because I typically “glamp” and this was my first time since middle school sleeping in a sleeping bag on the ground (I’m 36!). I’m also a side and stomach sleeper, so that makes it extra difficult to get comfy on hard surfaces.

At the suggestion of another reviewer, I left it partially deflated and that gave me enough give for shoulders and knees to sink in. It was easy to inflate, a little challenging to deflate but easier once you do it a few times and get a process.

Only thing I would change is getting the wider XL version, but it wasn’t in stock and we needed it sooner. After looking all over REI and the internet, definitely the best quality/thickness/rating for the price.

For the price, I’m happy with pretty much every aspect of this pad’s performance. It rolls up really small, and is quite compact. However, it’s a little heavier than some pads out there with higher R Values, so if I had spent more money on it I would expect a lighter pad.

I don’t do a huge amount of backpacking. I mostly use this for kayak and car camping, so the weight is fine for that, and it’s warm enough for three season use. At first I found the pad very difficult to stay on, and had a couple of restless nights rolling off the pad every time I dozed off.

The trick I’ve found is to just underinflate it a bit, and at that level it’s still comfortable and cushy but cradles you a little better. I am not a heavy user, but so far it’s proven durable. It’s also awesome for hammock camping, because the mummy shape of the pad really fits well with the shape of a hammock and it provides good support and insulation.

I bought this mattress for a very specific reason, and it has performed perfectly. I live in a homemade camper with a very narrow bed. I have severe arthritis in my back, and sleeping on a bad mattress can cripple me.

I had been using a pile of air and foam mattresses, but they kept sliding over eachother and tipping me out of bed. I had to find spots where I could tilt my rig exactly 1 degree toward the wall to minimize the bed-sliding-falling-out-of-bed-all-night problem, and sometimes that’s just not feasible.

Plus, the air mattresses kept springing slow leaks so I had to inflate my bed every day. When the second set of self-inflating mattresses sprung leaks within the 6 months I’d been using them, I went looking for alternatives and found this mattress.

This mattress is 25 inches wide. I would have preferred a 28 inch mattress, but other than that the mattress is great. The air portion is very robust. no slow leaks here, and the heavy material makes tearing or puncturing unlikely.

The two pieces stay together even when I’m parked on a slight slope. I’ve been sleeping on it for several months with no back issues. It’s a fairly hard mattress, but that works better for my back. I would caution those who plan to pack and unpack the mattress on a daily basis though.

It is heavy (20 plus pounds), it isn’t compact when packed, and it doesn’t inflate well without the pump because the inflation fitting is designed to be used with the pump only. None of these are problems for me because the mattress stays deployed 100% of the time, but if I had to fold and pack it every day I would consider it a huge hassle.

I own the original sleep system that hest debuted and it is amazing. This was motivation to purchase a second one when the wide size was available. Although I loved the comfort of the original, my shoulders/arms would tend to drop off the sides.

The wide is perfect in regards to size. If you have wider shoulders or like a little more room it is a great choice. I wanted to note the cushion material is not the same as the original version. I took off the mattress cover off of both to inspect.

The memory foam and secondary foam are both alike in height and shape. The white memory foam; however, is not as dense. The result is you feel less supported and you “sink in” quicker. I weigh 160 for reference, and if you were to focus your weight on one knee on the mattress, you will “bottom out” to the pad whereas the original version the foam is dense enough that this will not occur.

In my opinion, I think the quality of the foam was better in earlier versions. I felt it valuable to inform others interested in this sleep system as it is not inexpensive. Overall it is an amazing bed and I am happy with both due to their unique attributes.

I wanted to love this. Was at a stage where I didn’t want to camp any longer just using air mattress that gets cold at night and deflates. Enter the Hest Sleep System. Memory foam and insulated air system.

What I liked: Super comfortable. As comfortable as a firm memory foam bed. Additional air mattress. Difficult to get just right though as you have to be super quick to replace valve or lose most of the air.

Awesome carry case and easy to use pump. Lightweight for it’s size. What I hated and why I am returning it: Cheap compression buckle!!! Unfurled it on living room floor to air out (has your typical off gases) and partially stepped on compression buckle as it it attached to the bed itself-with bare feet no less.

Cracked!! Buckle is so flimsy you can compress the plastic with your fingers. for the price this is a serious design flaw. Buckle system now doesn’t lock under any sort of pressure. For a few bucks more replace this with same quality buckle you find on most backpacks and it will be nearly perfect for your glamping adventures.

If this system is going to be adequate for any camping/glamping adventure, designers must change this because who doesn’t step on things in close quarters? Super bummed but for the money I will get the Expad or Nemo and will save nearly $100 in the process.

This seems to be a great mattress, but is not the size listed in the description. I ordered this product specifically for the listed size. The dimensions fit exactly what I need for my truck platform bed.

Unfortunately, the listed 60 inch width is 59 inch, and the listed 74 inch length is 70. 5 inch. I called HEST, and the representative was very respectful, explaining that the foam needs a day to expand and that if it did not expand to the stated dimensions, they would refund my purchase upon return.

I gave it 48 hours, and the dimensions remained 59×70. 5. Unfortunately, I do not have time to return this mattress and find another, or I would return/refund. I will simply live with less than what was advertised due to my time constraints.

I am surprised that a mattress at this price point does not meet the standard listed. If you are purchasing this product, I thought it would be helpful to know that it is not the listed size.

This mattress is very comfortable! I bought it based on it’s good reviews — I was looking for something to put in our small pod trailer that was not an air mattress, and was able to be easily moved around.

This fit all those boxes. It does have a bit of an off-gassing mattress smell, but that has gone away after airing out a few days. It is very comfortable, and I do not feel the floor of the trailer, even when sleeping on my side.

The top is soft memory foam, and the bottom is firmer foam that keeps you off the ground. The wide is queen sized, but it is a little short — I’m 5’8″ and my feet were slightly hanging off. Not a huge problem for me, but if you’re any taller it might be something to consider.

The ability to fold it in half and shove it against a wall is a huge selling point for small trailer living. I’d recommend it!.

I purchased this for a camping trip and have used it for multiple purposes. I ended up putting it on the ground for my family to enjoy a movie night and I ended up falling asleep. It is so incredibly comfortable, I am so pleased with how this turned out.

I am a pretty hard sell and I expect things to be great especially when spending a lot of money. The money was well worth it. You can’t put a price on a good night sleep, if you think you can remember a time when you would’ve paid any amount of money to sleep.

It’s worth it.
