There are a few things to consider when choosing a camping hammock for side sleepers. First, you’ll want to make sure the hammock is wide enough to comfortably accommodate your body. Second, you’ll want to choose a hammock with a soft, comfortable fabric that won’t rub your skin raw.
Finally, you’ll want to make sure the hammock is sturdy enough to support your body weight.
20 Best Camping Hammock For Side Sleepers
1. Kammok Roo Double Camping Hammock, Pine Green
Backcountry durability meets silky-soft comfort. The Roo Double hammock is spacious enough for two in the backyard and extra roomy for solo campouts.
I wanted to try camping in a hammock, but I was a little afraid of it. So many questions ran through my head. Would I fall out in the middle of the night? Would I get cold? Would I get eaten by something? Bugs or even animals.
I decided on my birthday 5 years ago that I was just going to buy one for myself and try it. I didn’t want a cheaply made one because I’m a large guy and things aren’t often made for me. I also didn’t want to spend lot’s of money on something that I might hate.
The answer came with this hammock, which was on sale at REI. The sale price made it closer to the cheaper brands I had seen, but it also included a great warranty. Not to mention, REI would return it for up to a year if I didn’t like it.
So I took the chance, and I’ve never looked back. Some of my fears were valid, it can get cold, and bugs are awful sometimes, but wow how enjoyable it has made camping, especially after getting a bug net and quilt.
Sleeping pads never hold up and are too thin and short for me most of the time. I was always lugging around so much gear just to be comfortable. This hammock is more than strong enough to hold me, long enough that I fit in it, and so comfortable.
I absolutely love my hammock and it’s the first thing I grab on any trip.
Single mom here. I love my Roo Double. It was my first purchase from Kammok. I’ve used it on camping trips, beach trips, in my house, and most recently at the park. I’ve hung it using python straps which is great, but it REALLY shines with the Swiftlet.
Ohmygosh. I use it daily during the warm months with my hammock stand. One of the neatest things about the Double is the material which is silky soft – like “I moisturize on the daily” soft. Baby butt soft.
It’s cozy, friends! And the colors are vibrant. You ever order stuff and it shows up looking like oatmeal left out to dry? Kammok delivers. The colors of the fabric really pop and I enjoy that. We have the token orange, the light blue, and the purple, but I would love to own others.
The kanga karabiners are easy to use and durable. In combination with the Swiftlet, it’s sooooo easy to setup at the park in the shade and just lounge and read while the kids play. You’ll get envious side-eyes from all the other parents.
And if you have teacup humans they can easily climb in with you. I love this hammock so much that I’ve bought it for family members as a present. 5/5!!.

Love my SkyLoft Hammock. It’s a great addition to my boat. I’ve built a 28 ft covered pontoon boat & it’s the perfect way to relax on the water. Just a few minutes of the waves rocking the SkyLoft & I don’t need to count sheep.
The setup is fast & easy. The spreader bars allows comfortable positions. A handy side pocket it all breaks down into a small tote.
The Wise Owl Outfitters portable hammock is a must-have when packing your camping accessories. Compact by design, these durable nylon hammocks can fold down to the size of an eggplant for smart storage on the go.
Setting one up is a breeze too. Each travel hammock comes equipped with two 9 ft long tree straps, two carabiners, and five separate loops, so you can easily adjust yours to the perfect height. Choose to swing solo in the 10 x 4.
5 ft single hammock that holds up to 400 lbs or opt for the 10 x 6. 5 ft double hammock that holds up to 500 lbs. Whatever you decide, your new outdoor and indoor hammock will be the place to hang out.
The design is extremely flawed. The sides collapse in on you no matter how you lie in it creating this awful smothered experience. I read the suggestion on their website to remedy this by “lying diagonally” or adjusting the tension.
It doesn’t work. it just makes everything shift awkwardly. I tried adjusting it using a variety of trees, heights, distances, etc. and nothing. Very disappointed with this product especially considering the cost.
At least the webbing and carabineers seem durable for the price but the design could use a lot of revising.
I have tried other hammocks like the cotton ones and didn’t like them. I enjoy sitting under my trees in the backyard to relax and found that I was getting tired of just sitting in a chair. As soon as I took it out of the box the hammock was up in no time at all with the talon tree straps.
Now I can comfortably enjoy reading in the shade! Everyone loves the hammock now. My daughter likes it and even our dog tries to get in. I was able to fit nicely with two 3 year old’s in the single. But I think I’m going to up grade to a double hammock as they grow.
I left it outside and it rained. I was very surprised how fast it dried! I was able to sit in it later that day, my daughter even fell asleep on me in it. I am very happy with this product. And the colors look really nice and bright.
Looking for the best portable double person hammock for camping? Buy a two person hammock from Bear Butt, perfect for camping or just hanging with a friend. Holds 500 pounds and weighs only 1. 7 pounds, so it’s the perfect travel companion.
Wonderful product but on the site beware: when you click on each hammock icon it changes to show you that color. You might think you are ordering that color but no, it does NOT change the finer print below which is the color you will order.
If you don’t double check this and click a little arrow you might get a color in your cart you are not looking at. I think this is a bug on the site and contacted them but I was told to return them at my own cost.
( I had mistakenly ordered 4 hammocks of the same color because after choosing one of the color I would switched the icon above to a different color, and hit add to cart while looking at the color I wanted, something any reasonable person would do and how almost ALL commerce sites operate).
I don’t think this is right. So be careful ordering.
This year I had switched from sleeping on a mattress to sleeping in a hammock, because it was cheaper and seemed like it would be fun! This hammock is so comfortable, a bit thin, but nothing a good ol blanket burrito can’t help.
I’ve been without back and hip pain because this thing hugs me so nicely! So thank you for my brand new sleepy time heaven! ALSO The tag on the hammock doubles as a sticker! I thought that was so cool! I know it’s just a brand name sticker, but still! That was genius!.
I bought this when I saw someone else with a similar hammock. I searched the brand they had and it was super expensive. I searched amazon for a suitable cheaper one. I found Bear Butt and all the reviews were great! Then I went straight to the website and got the deal buy 2 get 2 free and got the complete set of everything I wanted for less than what I would spend just to get the hammock with the expensive brand.
I was super excited to try it out! I went to the park and tried it out. I was nervous about the set up since I have never done it before. It was up within 5 mins and we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon hanging out in it with my daughter.
It’s your all-access pass to relaxation. Big enough for two and palatial for one, the DoubleNest still manages to stuff easily into its attached compression sack. Description Specifications: Weight 19 oz.

Recipient received for Christmas. Have not used the Zeno suspension kit yet as we bought a stand for the backyard (kit is for camping). The material is great, feels very secure when mounted. We did surpass the weight limit by accident (two adults and a toddler—forgot to add up our lbs beforehand) but didn’t feel concerned at the time.
The recipient was delighted and we’ve all been spending our free time in the basement cuddled up in it.

Simply fantastic! I used this hammock for most of the summer. It is very lightweight, and takes up very little space to carry. The included straps are a good quality and they make setup a breeze. It is definitely large enough for two people but I prefer to keep it to myself.
It makes a great place to take a nap, read a book, or just relax in the yard or anyplace. It travels with me in my car when I am not home and gives me a quick and easy place to unwind anywhere I go. The fabric is very durable and took a lot of abuse with no ill effects over several months of regular use.
For the cost this is almost a must have for anyone.
Love love love this hammock! This was one of those “didn’t know I needed it until I had it items”. We go to the park every weekend and use blankets etc. This hammock is a comfort game changer. Now we can nap, read, relax and rock the day away.
The hammock nylon feels strong and it comfortably holds me and my son together. Everything you need is included. It takes up no space (storage wise), set up is a snap. the hammock storage bag is attached to the hammock so you don’t have to think about it.
The straps are long so you can use a lot of different trees. It takes about 2 minutes to set it up and it only takes one person to do it. Wrap the strap, clip up the hammock, enjoy! One more thing: it occupies my 9 year old for hours – I would buy this ten times over.
We got this hammock as a family present for the older kids at our youngest granddaughter’s first birthday and they love it! It’s soft and has a nice feel to it and its big enough for all of them to pile in and have a good time.
Sturdy and strong without being too heavy or rough. The set up is easy and the pieces are sturdy and trustworthy. It’s a great hammock for our kids too – when they want to just take a rest in the shade – or have a cuddle with their little ones! Big success!.
When you and a friend want to rest tired feet – or you’re just looking for extra elbow room – the Double Lightweight Hammock lets you relax between the trees. When you’re all done, the hammock easily packs into its own stuff sack for storage between uses.
Plus, the hammock comes equipped with its own carabiners and straps designed to avoid damaging trees.
Love this little guy! I wanted a hammock for a while but didn’t want to invest too much before I knew how often I wanted to truly use it. This seemed the best starter hammock bc of the price point and bc it’s so lightweight and versatile—I didn’t need a frame and it didn’t risk damaging my trees either.
It’s so silly easy to set up and within five minutes of opening the box, I was lounging (and it only took that long bc I was finding the sweet spot for adjusting given the tree spacing in my yard). I think the only issue one might have is if your trees are too close together.
Mine are about 15 ft apart so I got the strap around the trunk, gave it a little slack and then swung it sort of jumprope style to get it a little higher up the trunk without needing a step stool. Between this and using the tightest loop setting on the strap, I was able to get the hammock taut enough that I didn’t touch bottom when I got in.
Love the color, love the lightweight feel, and love that the bag it folds into becomes a little pocket on the side for small things. Overall, a really good buy!.
1st hammock I ever bought. 1st hammock I ever put up/installed. I watched a YouTube video on how to wrap tree straps around a tree & hook the carabiners (that are included with this purchase) & I can set up my hammock in 2 or 3 minutes.
I can take it down & roll it up into the attached pocket in 30 seconds. The double sized hammock is perfect for having the extra fabric to use as a cover/blanket if chilly or breezy. I use this outside for work meetings in my own little pod.
It’s a dose of zen & happiness, even for someone who’s not outdoorsy. You can still snuggle in it as if you’re inside in bed, so it can help with depression by still getting some fresh air & sun. Feeling weightless/no gravity is fantastic benefit to our well being.
This is the best thing I’ve purchased for myself in the past 10 years. Btw. double hammock means you could also use w/a partner. Haha! I like to have my extra room alone, though, too. I sometimes put a pillow & blanket in w/me.
The only thing I can say if this was to be made differently, is to have made the pocket dangle on the inside of the hammock rather than the outside. I could use the hammock inside out/flip it, & the pocket would end up inside w/me.
The pocket does have a pull string to keep any items secured & safe when inside it, but I like the extra protection of the pocket being inside the hammock with me rather than dangling outside. It’s definitely not a reason to not buy.
This hammock is nice but it’s difficult for two people to lay comfortably because there are two seams in the middle that cut into you. I’m not sure if the middle panel is for separating two people while you lay on the outside panels.
Maybe the middle is for sitting only? I also think it should have directions on how to hang it properly. Otherwise I like it.

High quality and inexpensive This is definitely one of the best values on a camping hammock. I got mine this winter, but being in the upper midwest, I was unable to test it out until this weekend. The material is high quality and the stitching seems solid.
It took about 5 minutes to set up. I had to mess around a little to get it the right height. I was a little worried the rope would fray, but it seemed to hold up well, at least on the first try. I have the extension straps, which seem less likely to fray, so I may start using those.
Overall, amazing quality especially for the price.
Double hammock & mosquito net xl I received Foxelli treking poles as a gift and was very impressed with the quality so I wanted to try more of their gear. The quality of this hammock and straps is top notch! I also confidently purchased the mosquito net XL, after setting up the hammock and mosquito net everything fit together perfectly with adjustable cords to close off the ends where the straps pass through.
Great design, high quality gear, highly recommend!.
Sleeping on the ground with COVACURE camping hammock could let you sleep well. COVACURE Camping Hammock COVACURE camping hammock is without a doubt the most durable camping hammock. Its designed for long-term use on trekking expeditions or for people who want to live in the woods or backpacking for a while, so its super comfortable and tough.
Ultra Lightweight Hiking Hammock COVACURE Lightweight camping hammock is great for backpacking, hiking, climbing, and trekking as it adds hardly any weight to your travel backpack.
I love this hammock! It changed our lives. My husband and I each got one and used it the very day it arrived. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to set up and how sturdy it was. I love the pocket it has inside so i can fit my phone.
I would definitely recommend. It’s roomy inside and I never felt like I was breathing in the net. Very comfortable. I would say to hang it a little on the loose side so you can see out of the hammock while you are lying down.
This is one nice hammock for the price. Loads of room and so comfortable. Can be used with or without the bug net. We spent this week end taking turns using it. Had a couple good naps. Comes with everything you need to hang it right out of the bag.
Fairly easy set up. While we have not used it out camping yet I can picture it hanging from a couple trees next to the lake. This one goes in the camper so we can use it on our next trip this next week end.
I was looking for something with a mosquito net and lightweight for backpacking and this fit the bill. I’ve slept in a lot of different hammocks when camping but wanted to upgrade to something with a net to get ready for bug season.
It is pretty sturdy parachute material and came with straps and paracord rope (although you will need to melt the ends more so that they don’t fray). The straps are actually better than came with the other one’s I’ve bought because they are purpose built flat nylon straps with a convenient loop at the end.
Spacious for two, the DoubleNest Giving Back is the ideal travel companion. With its ability to compress down to the size of a grapefruit, this hammock makes relaxation part of every adventure. Plus it packs into its own stuff sack, which doubles as storage for your belongings when youre hanging out.
Eagles Nest Outfitters refreshed all of the hardware components including a specially designed hammock-grade carabiner, custom side-release buckle, and larger cord lock for easy setup and pack up every time.
And theDoubleNest features a longer hammock body using triple-stitch seam construction with proprietary FreeWave fabric, which offers an exclusive crinkle treatment for exceptional softness and packability.
I was the first on the block to get one. It is great. BUT the NOMAD tent is terrible !!! The frame works fine but the tent was so tight it broke both end zippers. Lucky for me I worked in the canvas business for a spell and can sew for I replaced both with YKK heavy duty zippers and then had to cut down main over head pole 4 inches ( 1 inch on each piece) to make the tent fit properly.
And it was missing a whole tie back assembly so I added it in. Then the seam tape on about half the tent started to peel off so I resealed the entire tent. I started to send it back but it looked like you were not going to carry it any longer so trued to salvage it.
I think it’s a great concept just needed to be made right and better. I own 4 ENO chairs and 10 hammocks and several rain flys ,bags ,pillows and etc so everything else has been well made. But tent disappointed.
I originally became a customer for the clout but I stay because of the customer service. A little over a month ago my eno double hammock tore so I submitted pictures hoping they would give me some options.
Right away they gave me credit to order a new one (this one)! I have already used the new one multiple times and have loved both. I will definitely continue to support this company because they are willing to support their customers.
They even sent me a discount code to buy another set of straps (which I forgot to do).
I love my ENO Dancing Bear hammock. Same great ENO quality I expect with the cool twist of having a great band swinging along with me. Only issue I had was that I got the wrong Grateful Dead print from what I ordered.
I emailed ENO when I received it, and the replacement was in the mail the same day. I mailed back the incorrect shipment, and all was cool. Thanks ENO for a great product backed by great service!.
Including mesh pocket on ridgeline and complimentary webbing straps to protect the bark of trees. Patented asymmetrical shape and 30% larger rainfly than the Scout model. This is an all-purpose hammock great for backpacking, family camping, expeditions, kayaking, motorcycling, and any other purpose which requires comfort and durability at an affordable price.
The Expedition Asym Zip has side entry and zipper closure.
I’m a long time fan of sleeping in a hammock, but when my Eureka Chrysalis hammock system was lost in a move I replaced it with the Hennessy system based on all the positive reviews I read. Those reviews oversold the extent to which this hammock gives you a flat(ish) position BUT also glosses over some other vital limitations and deficiencies.
To explain, the Eureka uses a couple of spreader bars to keep the hammock open, and the hourglass shape helps keep it flatter and the sides from hugging you. This makes it less packable, a little heavier but so much more useable.
It too has some issues but they are easily resolved. (Make the poles removable, and add a bug screen “sock” to the system and it is perfect. Other than the non-flat and body-hugging problem with the Hennessy there is the issue of the single full length side entry zip.
You MUST open it fully before you get into the hammock to prevent damaging it. Sounds OK but while you are doing that the bugs swarming around you have a huge opening to join you,, and they will, plus you are then going to have to reach the zip pullers at each end (its about 8ft+end to end) to close them! So this is no good if you camp where there are stinging insects.
Even once it is closed the net is joined to the sides of the base so wyou will be up against it at times and within reach of those insects. If you are in windy and raining conditions the supplied tarp is really not big enough to full cover the hammock, it has to be positioned strategically, and if the wind changes in the night.
you have to get out, join the bugs, and reposition it. In short this Henessey is, in my experience, only good for you if you like to sleep in a bowed position, in good weather, with no insects around.
Some do, apparently, love the Hennesy Hammock System but is it just because they’ve not experienced anything better? One sleepless night’s experience drove me back into a ground tent for the first time after 25 years of hammock camping, and to return the Hennessy (full marks to MEC for their return policy), and I’m ordering another Chrysalis before my next wilderness trip.
I read these reviews accidentally when accidentally looking something up and it pained me to read negative reviews. I bought this asym zip years ago, 20+. From the beginning I was impressed with materials and performance.
I’ve owned dozens of hammocks and tents of varying types and qualities. This is a technical light weight hammock for backpacking that is a pleasure to use. When I read the materials and watch the helpful videos I am impressed with the intention that went into the design and manufacture of my hammock.
Everything has held up over these years and I look forward using it every time. I question the motivation of negative reviews such as the one I just endured. Any person that invests their personal time and money in producing a product with the quality and value on this level obligates me to voice my hardy enthusiastic endorsement.
If you’re buying this hammock, it’s unlikely that you aren’t aware of its typical use and reputation. If you’re in the market for one of these right now, you might also know that they’re terribly difficult to acquire at the moment, even directly from Hennessey.
There’s a reason these are used for expeditions in some of the most remote places in the world. I’ve used them in the jungle in the Yucatan and in Oaxaca, in deep in caves on survey and mapping trips, and they’re just excellent in every regard.
They’re rugged, comfortable, durable, light. an ideal shelter that keeps you dry and off the ground in places where the things on the ground are numerous, bitey, and venomous. The jungle floor tends to sparkle at night like diamonds when you sweep a light across it, reflections off the eyes of more spiders than you’d care to count.
This equipment is kind of the de facto standard for this application, they are in no way kidding about what their product is designed to do, and it’s well regarded in terms of being able to do it. That’s all much less the point of this review than to give one of the most glowing recommendations I’ve ever written in terms of the customer service of this company, Eartheasy.
I just cannot recommend them highly enough. I’ve had my hammock for years; but my wife Cassandra has recently started expedition caving with me and now needs one as well. As ubiquitous as these hammocks are in the circles I tend to run in, it would have never crossed my mind that there was any kind of shortage.
I’ve had no reason to look for another one, they tend to last. We’ve got an expedition coming up on Labor Day, and I figured I’d just order one on Monday, week-of, and have it delivered easily in time.
Needless to say, that did not go well. Vendor after vendor after vendor had no stock. None of the major online retailers had this item. REI? Nope. Moosejaw? Nope. On to Amazon (yeah, ew, I know), and Backcountry (also ew, I know), nope.
Hennessey directly. Nothing. Except for one vendor. Eartheasy. As it happens, they don’t just have an item on a website that represents something you can order from them but will ship from the manufacturer, they have actual stock of this product.
As far as I can tell, they’re the only business that carries these right now. They also didn’t have a default shipping option that was quick enough to get the item to me in time. Here’s where one of the best customer service experiences I’ve ever had comes in, Melissa at Eartheasy.
In the age of Amazon, I struggle to remember a time when you could quickly and directly contact a live person who could (or would?) have any real effect on the outcome of an order. Melissa was able to verify the stock, quote shipping options that aren’t standard not once but twice, and get the product shipped out that day.
These are people who care about their business and their customers, and that’s a rare thing in this day and age. What I did not even consider till well after the fact. it struck me some time later. “Wait a minute.
who IS ‘Eartheasy’? I’ve never even heard of this company?! They’re selling a product that’s the type of thing I tend to need; but they’re not on my radar as a vendor for this kind of gear?” Turns they’re not on my radar because that’s not really at the core of what they even do.
The vast majority of their products, while delightful in their own right, aren’t really anything to do with outdoor/expedition gear. My point in saying so is that they went above and beyond to help and ensure timely delivery of something I very much needed and could not get anywhere else, and with an item seemingly at the peripheral edge of what they do.
In summary, these folks are just next-level with customer service, and I can’t recommend this company highly enough.
The DoubleNest reigns supreme. It’s our bread-and-butter. It’s your all-access pass to relaxation. Big enough for two and palatial for one, the DoubleNest still manages to stuff easily into its attached compression sack.
Take it anywhere, set it up in seconds flat, lay back and Oh, did you want to join me? I’ve got room for one more! Weight 19 oz. Material(s) 70D High Tenacity Nylon Taffeta Packed Dimensions (L x W) 5″ x 5″.
Unfolded Dimensions (L x W) 9′ 4″ x 6′ 2″. Best use Family/car camping & backpacking 400 lb Capacity.
I first had the ENO sub7 hammock which I think is fantastic, very light, packable and functional. The ENO double nest is none of those. I bought this as I wanted to use it for two people. Must say I am disappointed.
Firstly because it is big and heavy to carry in comparison with the previous model I own. The hammock with the additional large straps required, together will add a lot of weight and bulk to one’s backpack.
So I really don’t think it’s suitable for backpacking, more to keep in the car. When using it alone I honestly find the sub7 more comfortable and I think it’s very impractical for two. Neither my girlfriend or I are large people but it was impossible for both of us to lie comfortably in it.
The hammock sandwiched us together so tightly she would basically be pushed on top of me. I am truly surprised by the general positive ratings others have given this, I don’t know how you’re getting two people in this thing! Top and tail perhaps? But that doesn’t sounds comfy.
No way you can get two people laying shoulder to shoulder in this thing. The search for a legitimate two person hammock continues.
I really like this hammock. I use it for hammock camping. Good quality. Well made. visually attractive. Lightweight and stores nice and compact in the compression sack. The compression sack is attached to the hammock and doubles as a pouch when the hammock is in use.
It’s perfect for emptying your pockets before bed. It nicely fits keys, a wallet, a cell phone and a 500 mL water bottle. I use the doublenest for solo camping. I have their singlenest as well, but find it a bit small.
I have heard others say that as well. I definitely recommend using an underquilt (I have the ENO Ember underquilt and am very happy with it) if you’re planning on sleeping in cool (or cold) weather. I also use their Guardian bug net, which works very well.
I really like this hammock and would not hesitate to recommend it. I have had (and still have) other brands, but the ENO doublenest is my hammock of preference. My one complaint about it is the length.
ENO hammocks are nine-and-a-half feet long, making them just about the shortest of the bigger name commercial hammocks. There are other brands that make ten-and-a-half foot and eleven foot long hammocks.
The longer a hammock is, the more comfortable sleep you’ll get. If they made their hammocks a bit longer they would be the perfect hammock.
Our DoubleNest hammock has been a hit with the whole family. It’s comfortable, light, and a great size. At first, my daughters asked why I’d wanted a hammock. But now, they are happy to relax in it too! I’d researched hammocks (and hammock stands) for months and knew I wanted an ENO DoubleNest.
I was grateful for the National Hammock Day sale in late July so I could get it for a sale price. I also bought the straps on sale (so I’d have them for the future–I haven’t tried the straps yet because we have no trees to hang them on in our tiny backyard).
So we could relax and use the hammock right away (that was the goal) I bought the Sunnydaze Universal Heavy-Duty Multi-Use Steel Hammock Stand from Target. com (that was what I could afford). The DoubleNest hammock and Sunnydaze stand have worked well on our tiny concrete back patio.
Our classic and trusted, Roo Double camping hammock in vibrant prints to compliment your adventures. From the backyard to the backcountry, this lightweight and durable hammock has your back as you hang in style.
I own (and aggressively evangelize) many kammok products. I’ve made it a central part of my minimalist life. My swiftlet stand and Roo Double bundle ARE my sleep system at home. 🙂 I wanted a separate roo double to use when I switch my swiftlet to chair mode and ordered the Roo Double Printed.
When I got it and tried out (chair and sleep modes), it’s just. wrong. Just like the review from “Angela”, the center is harsh and pushed up. There’s very little shape to the hammock of ay kind; think ankle ridges everywhere that you can’t get away from.
Immediately set up the return (exchanging for a simple roo double xl). Kammok team: *please* give a careful look into these hammocks, there’s a QA or manufacturing issue. I really hope no first-time users get one of these and think it’s the norm.

I’ll start by saying that I agree with a few other reviewers. Wished it had it’s own bag instead of rolling up the material to wrap around and carry. My hubby rolled it up last night and when I unrolled it today, it was damp and had grass on it from our yard.
However, I won’t deduct a star because in their defense, a storage bag is one less thing to worry about. The other reviewer said it’s not a true hammock where you swing and sink into the material. They are right.
However, I have a hammock if that’s what I want so again, I won’t deduct a star. This is a great buy! It’s portable, easy to set up and fold back down. It’s not too heavy if you’re not going a far distant to set it up.
If going further than your campsite or backyard, I’d have my husband carry it as I’m a tiny woman. However, if I had to I could but I’d probably just take my wagon. It seems well constructed and the actual material is not flimsy.
The storage area at the bottom touched the ground. At least mine does so if you’re trying to keep stuff off of the ground, I wouldn’t place it here. However, the cup holder and phone pocket are an added bonus and I love it! All in all, I am super excited about my new hammock and can’t wait to take it on our camping adventures!.
I used this one day and could already tell there would be issues. The design of this is very low quality poor material as well. The frame is very hard and edges not covered in anything. It pokes you on the sides and material on top is cheap and smells like chemicals.
The zipper cover should have been a bag as well. For the price I guess you get what you pay for.
Hammock looks strudy and easy to use and carry, I’m sad because they shipped me a crapy unclean piece. I hope samsclub starts to look product to ensure they r nice and clean before shipping. I’m keeping mine and will use it, if sams club does not like my review let them refund some money for sending unclean product.
That’s why I gave 3 stars else it’s a 5 star product.
I have 4 of these wonderful hammocks. I use them like a couch when I take long bike rides and break for lunch. When we go on our mountain vacation our 10 grandchildren expect to have the hammocks to themselves.
When they were younger, 3-4 could fit into the hammocks; they would talk share secrets, read and sleep. Now that they are teenagers, they can only put two people in the hammocks. I’ve always appreciated that these hammocks could hold their weight and I have no worry of them getting hurt.
The customer support I have received when I had problems with a strap was excellent. I would not buy any other hammock.
This is the 2nd Outpost II double hammock I have bought and have been very satisfied. I bought one for my son a couple years ago and whenever he travels, he takes it with. My daughter expressed an interest in having a hammock recently.
I purchased the same hammock in a different color for her birthday and she loves it! She has used it many times already. She likes to go to parks and hang out by herself. Perfect way to get out during this time of quarantine.
Quick and easy to put up and take down. Shipping was very quick too. I highly recommend this product and this company.
I love my new Outpost II hammock. It’s my first camping-style hammock and I found it amazingly comfortable. It’s really wide, leaving more than enough space to lay at slight angle and get a comfy, mostly-flat lay.
Everything seems durable and well made, including the straps which make it SO fast to hang. I suppose it’s possible that a more expensive brand-name hammock could provide something I’m missing out on, but at 3 to 4 times the cost, this is an amazing value that meets all the expectations I had when I made the decision to buy it.
In fact, I’ve slept in it about 30 nights so far, and it’s as comfortable as day 1 with no noticeable wear. I noticed a cosmetic flaw in the fabric when we first opened it, but Wildhorn promptly replaced it once I sent a quick picture.
I have already ordered another Outpost II from them and would recommend their product and company without hesitation.

These hammocks are the worst and I will be returning them! It was a struggle just to get the frame stretched and then to get the pins in place was nearly impossible. AND IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT THE HAMMOCK ON THE FRAME.
There was no way to get the second end on the hook.
Bought two of these. One for me and one for my 12 year old some. I use the mosquito net hammock also from Walmart with them. It’s a perfect combination. You don’t need straps and the net ties up perfect.
I’m 200 lbs. And I’m at least a foot of the ground. I fold the up with the hammock attached and put them in the bag. My friend timed set up at 54 seconds. My son now sleeps in his ful time in his bedroom.
My hammocks are 11 feet and stretch out tight. Use only the clasp through hammock ends no rope and attach to stand hooks.
The quality is ok, not great. It is really hard to get in and out of and you have to lay pretty still once you finally get it balanced. The fabric gets pulled pretty tight under you so it’s kind of uncomfortable.
Debating trying to set up a return and finding something better.
The ENO DoubleNest Hammock is perfect for the boater and camper – lightweight compact durable. And it’s big enough to share The breathable nylon micro fiber fabric holds up to 400 pounds yet is so lightweight you can take it backpacking.
Stores compactly in the built-in stuff sack packs down to the size of a cantaloupe. It’s luxury sized for one and plenty big for two. So comfortable you won’t want to leave. Weighs 19 oz. and is 6′ 2″ at its widest and 9′ 4″ long.
Uses nautical grade cord on the ends and Includes two aluminum carabiners. The fabric is UV treated and mildew resistant. Use the Slap Strap Suspension System #71602. 01 or the Atlas Suspension System #71603.
We bring this hammock everywhere. The family loves it. This is our second one now. Very durable and comfortable. The colours look great. I feel like the carabiners that come with it should be rated for more than 400lbs but that’s easy to change.
The Pro Hammock Set includes straps and is a technical, super breathable, compact and easy to set up outdoor hammock. Constructed from soft, ripstop 70D Nylon with high strength plated steel buckles and a CORDURA Nylon compression bag it can be used anywhere from the backpacking trail to the local park or your backyard.
The buckles are triple bar-tacked to webbing loops to ensure long-term durability. The built-in compression sack is designed with extra space so Suspension Straps can be stored inside. As with all Sea to Summit hammocks, pitching the Pro Hammock is quick and easy.
Deploying the optional Bug net or Tarp takes just a couple of minutes.
I had the older version, that does not include the straps and I am more than happy with it. Super light and small and compact, (you can fit it into a running pouch too), easy to set up and super durable.
Have been using the older one (the ultra light version) for the last 5 years I think and it has no signs of usage. This is for my hubby’s birthday, he’s going to flip out. This one is even lighter … I can’t believe it was possible! It is also durable, the old one has a max load of 130kg, have been using it at full potential (me 55 and my husband about 75) as we sometimes used it together, even it was a one person one.
Used it carfully in these cases! Worth the money and worth taking it with you on hikes, camps, bike trips. Gives you the chance to wind down and not sit uncomfortably on the ground.
I’ve only had a chance to get out with it once, but that one time was pretty good! I’m a neophyte hammock owner so I don’t have much to compare it to, but I enjoyed it at the lake a couple of weekends ago.
The hammock also packs down really well in the stuff sack. The only gripe I have is that the buckles on either end are super tiny. If you are thinking, like I did, that you might use a couple of carabiners on each end to affix the hammock to your own webbing, think again.
They won’t fit. I ended up having to use a couple of ratchet straps that had small hooks that could fit in the buckles. Basically what I’m saying is it might be a good idea to also include in your budget the straps Sea to Summit makes specifically for this hammock that fit the tiny buckles.
I did end up buying those special straps after this first outing so I wouldn’t have to deal with the hassle next time. The bonus with those special straps is they also fit in the stuff sack so you can always keep them with you.
But I do wish it was a little easier to have more options for hanging.
I have the XL version with the UL straps and it’s the perfect hammock. Everything fits in the stuff sack, it weighs nothing, and setup takes 5 min. When I saw ”Ultralight Hammock Set” I assumed it would come with the Ultralight Straps.
It did not. The straps in this bundle weigh at least double what the hammock weighs, yet aren’t wide enough to be tree safe. They defeat the purpose of having an ultralight hammock. Furthermore the Ultralight straps are sold out everywhere.
I was able to snag some from a random Finnish website for 30 bucks, which kind of negates this sale. The hammock is still in my mind the best ever made, but you have to have the UL straps to go with it.
Please discontinue your non ultralight hammock instead. This was an innovative product that fills a niche at the top of the market. UL straps included this is the -lightest -most packable -most breathable Hammock money can buy.
The “Pro” or whatever you call it is just another hammock I could get on amazon for 20 bucks. Best, John Rigdon.
Elevate your camping and enjoy a good night’s sleep over uneven or slanted ground. The lightweight rainfly and mesh offer bug- and weather-protection and an integrated, structural ridgeline helps you get the right hang angle and elevates the bug net off your body.
It all packs in to a small stuff sack to leave you plenty of room in your pack for your other camping essentials. Hammock is made of Gravitas 40-denier ripstop nylon that resists stretching. Lightweight Patagium 15-denier ripstop nylon rainfly has reinforced guyout points for a variety of set-up options.
DWR finish ensures hammock and rainfly dry quickly. Integrated bug mesh is completely removable when camping in bug-free areas. Includes 2 carabiners and 2 polyethylene daisy chains for secure rigging.
Integrated roll-top stuff sack is water resistant. Includes hammock, fly, bug net, straps, stakes and guylines.
This a very well thought out piece of equipment with lots of additional support for add-ins as needed. I was looking for a solution to be able to do 2 things: Sleep on fairly damp ground and have some form of padded sleeping.
After looking at tent foot prints, they all didn’t quite match up with the level of water saturation I would need. I decided to become complacent and be okay with being “a little wet”. As far as the sleeping pad, I wasn’t able to find any quality brand air mattresses that had a battery powered inflation pump.
Everything I found was either too low price to be decent quality or well in excess of $250. Here is where I started to think “outside the box” and realized that a hammock tent would fit exactly what I am looking for.
I can camp anywhere with damp ground or even over a stream and have no issues. And since you’re supported by the hammock itself, no need for a comfort specific sleeping pad. I just had my second overnight trip with the tent and I have some observations: -Setup is super easy and self contained within the pouch, just hook up the straps and away you go -The instructions say otherwise, but in rain hang the fly first -When hanging the tent start as high on the tree as you can comfortably reach.
Once you and your gear are in the tent it will sag -Think about getting the gear loft for any stuff sacks, or small items you need to keep in your tent. There are pockets in the canopy, but they’re only good for a phone, glasses, and contacts.
I had to keep moving my stuff sacks around so I wouldn’t lay on them. -A Joey sling is almost a requirement if you’re going to be backpacking in the rain and don’t have a waterproof back for the rest of your gear.
This is the only downside of the Mantis, you have little covered storage that isn’t on the ground -In higher winds and rain, mount the rain fly as close as you can to the tent straps. This will help keep you dryer -In rain, make sure you cover the tent stuff sack with the rain fly.
I forgot to do this my first night and then had to stuff a wet tent in a wet bag. – I was SUPER impressed with the reflectivity of the tent and fly anchor ropes. They are VERY visible when you shine a flashlight on them.
All around solid product, and I couldn’t imagine a better hammock camping experience.
