Spider-Man: Miles Morales is basically more Insomniac Spider-Man but with a new story and some powers to mix up the gameplay. The game itself is really fun, it’s still super satisfying to swing through the city.

The addition of Miles’s powers really helps him to feel like a unique Spider-Man. The story is good but it’s the interesting characters and awesome soundtrack that really boost it to match the quality of Insomniac’s first Spider-Man game.

The game itself is rather short though, but considering this is just a DLC, even a standalone DLC, I didn’t expect much. There are plenty of “side quests” in the form of actual side missions, be sure to play those, and items to find or crimes to stop just like the last game.

Most of the collect them all missions do at least provide some sort of story that adds to certain characters or the world itself making them feel somewhat more rewarding if that is at all interesting to you.

The game feels well polished and I didn’t run into any bugs that I can remember. The only thing I wish they could have added, and maybe this is more on Sony’s end, I wish you could customize the strength of the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the Dualsense controller.

When they advertised the game they often talked about how you could “feel the charge up Miles’s venom power in the controller” but I never once noticed the haptics while playing. Overall I really enjoyed the game.

It’s fun and I liked the story. It manages to make itself stand out when compared to the Spider-Man PS4. If you were a fan of that game then I would definitely recommend this to you. I can’t wait to see what they can do with a sequel.

I was mad there was no free update for PS5 version. That is typical of Sony Interactive Entertainment re-releasing their games over and over to milk their fans dry. I justified purchase as Miles Morales is a shorter game than original Spider-man game.

So if you think Miles Morales is worth $50 than $20 for remastered Spider-Man with all DLC and you have a deal. I used $30 of Bestbuy rewards so only paid $40 so not a bad deal. Remastered Spider-man also has a cross-save option.

So Since I had a gamesave of Spider-man on PS4 it carried over into PS5 version. This process took awhile but worth it. Since I earned a platinum trophy on PS4, after save data transfer I received a platinum trophy for remastered Spider-man immediately after loading save file.

Insomniac Games Studios are wizards when it comes to open world games. Makers of Spider-Man Series, Ratchet and Clank series, Resistance Series, Spyro Series, Sunset Overdrive and now Marvel’s Wolverine.

Miles-Morales improved and built off of the original Spider-man game. They trimmed the fat off most of the annoying and tedious side quest missions of the first game. The game looks great and is a showcase for your new PS5.

Miles’s new electricity powers and improved combo system makes Miles more enjoyable to play than OG Spider-man. Story is well written, with appropriate culture mixed in the game. Loved the new storyline.

New York in winter looks great with snow particle effects looking amazing and adding to realism of game graphics. Super fast loading times, almost none existent loading. Worth the purchase. Overall great purchase.

I’ve been a lifelong fan of the webhead, so following him into video games was a foregone conclusion. However, technology hadn’t quite caught up with the power and capability of your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, so many of the offerings were.

lackluster. 2018’s Spider-Man was a triumph, mastering so many nuances that allowed you the player to really BE a superhero. Needless to say, expectations were very high for Miles Morales. After the Spider-Verse film and the incredible hype from the original game, this character had huge shoes to fill.

What is astonishing is how well Insomniac pulled off the task. Miles’ journey is familiar yet unique. He isn’t just retreading old spider ground; he has his own personal lessons to learn and demons to battle.

The mechanics from the first game have been polished and perfected, with nary a jagged edge out of place. The story is fast-paced and subverts expectations at just the right moments, all while staying true to a good Marvel comic.

If you enjoyed the first game, this is a no-brainer. If you haven’t played the first game, pick up the ultimate edition and do that now.

This is my one and only review after having my PS4 since GTA 5 was new. Love the games and content but a complete boatload of problems with slow downloads, loud fan and opening games just to have your console shutoff in the middle of a very slow ‘copying update file’ process which causes it to restart the whole download process of whatever you were trying to play while waiting.

PS store after a while reads error when trying to purchase digital content. its just a mess as far as hardware goes. I was literally at 70% update file copied and tried to open another game while waiting and my console just shutoff for no reason.

I just wanted to game before work but this console is not friendly in situations like that. Not to mention numerous games tend to update at the same time which prompts you to ‘make space’ in your data when you didn’t need it before the update.

Account recovery methods are outdated and too much information is required if you are not using your own console(trying to add your account to a friend’s ps4). Make sure you have more than one email and always update your phone when you get a new one.

Also be sure to upload your saved data to the PS plus cloud as data could randomly go corrupt and start you over where you were previously. Again, great games, bad hardware.

The system is perfectly fine. I love it. It’s great. 3 stars though because there’s a bug in the system somewhere that makes the “dullshock 4, battery level low, controller dead charge the battery” message repeat for about 30 mins Everytime the controller dies.

And plugging it in doesn’t stop it. The only thing that stops it is turning the system off. This is a uncharted edition PS4 and it’s been rebuilt once, I sent it in to Sony and they fixed it for me. But this bug still occurs.

And is very. VERY. annoying.

This is my 3rd ps4 and will be my last. Gets hot too fast like real fast. I’m on for an hour and it starts to freeze and this isn’t the only concern when it comes to the ps4. Every ps4 I’ve had has the same issue’s and I’ve spent way too much cash on Sony and it feels like this is a MONEY grab since I Keep having to get repairs and replacements for the PS4 and frankly it’s getting old.

let me get into the PS4 issue’s. Gets way too hot 🔥, freezes, crashes & doesn’t last long until it NEEDS replaced or repairs. Rest mode is a mess and downloading can cut off while in rest mode and the downloading and copying nonsince is 🐌 slow.

Like 16+ hour’s if your internet isn’t fast. the airflow clogs easily compared to my ps2 and xbox360 and the ps4 sounds like an airplane in turbulence. The storage gets corrupt easily if you have too many thing’s going on the ps4.

The warranty for the PS4 only lasts a short while and it doesn’t cover the majority of issue’s this console has and if you buy digital game’s don’t expect a refund after the 14 day time line. Why do console warranties only last a year is beyond me and most consoles need work after two years realistically.

it would be nice to have a 7 year warranty on these consoles because apparently their life span is supposed to be 7 years with my ps4s it’s been like 1 1/2 year’s until issues come up. I hardly play on my ps4 and I deeply regret buying this console and getting digial game’s That I can’t get money back for.

Before you buy any gaming systems do your homework. I sure didn’t know this was going to cost me so much for so little joy.

I purchased a PS4 PRO console at the beginning 2019. Its one of the best consoles I have owned, but when you have a mechanical or mainboard fault the pain begins. The Blu-Ray drive failed 11/02/2022.

I took the console to a local video console repairer in Brisbane after 2 weeks I found out that the PRO console of mine is unrepairable. This is due to a failure on a circuit board which is located in the Blu-Ray drive itself.

The issue is you can’t replace the Blue-Ray with a new one as there are also chips on the mainboard which only recognize the original Blue-Ray drive, so replacing it with a new drive won’t work as the console won’t detect the disks.

I basically have a $460 paperweight now. The only way in can be repaired is to completely replace the mainboard with a Blue-Ray that is a matched pair to the mainboard. I find it utterly ridiculous that you can’t replace the drive on the PS4 PRO with a new one.

I still have my original PlayStation console from 1996. I have had the drive and laser replaced a number of times over the years with no issue. This is nothing more that purposeful built-in redundancy to make the consumer throw the console in the bin and buy a new one.

Not good Sony.

This is an okay console for gaming and exclusives but if you want a more stable experience the Xbox one x is more consistent when it comes to even basic things such as being able to connect to the internet.

This is my second PlayStation and it literally will not connect to my WiFi no matter how much I trouble shoot, change my DNS settings, attempt to set it up with WPS. This console is a serious frustration and let down when it comes to just connecting to the internet.

Unless you can hardline your PlayStation I probably wouldn’t recommend this console for online gaming, it’s quite terrible about randomly disconnecting even in those rare instances it works as it’s supposed to.

Sony seriously oversells this console and basically lies on their website about it being a 4K gaming console. It upscales to 4K with checkerboarding, which is hardly true 4K. If I could go back I’d save my money.

PlayStation is more and more subpar as the generations progress. Take for instance the PlayStation 5 consoles aren’t even all the same, some have a different number of fan blades causing some consoles to be way louder than others.

Pretty unacceptable from a corporation with the resources like Sony has. Pathetic console performance overall and sub par internet capabilities. Definitely not worth $400.

This is the only superhero game I’ve played in which I actually felt like I was the main hero. The controls for Spiderman are so fluid, they become second nature on your Dualshock controller after a while.

It’s easy to do various Spidey moves on the fly and chain them together to look uber fancy. The graphics are fantastic and is among the best I’ve seen on the PS4. Environment is lively and surroundings and buildings in the fake Manhattan are jaw-dropping gorgeous.

As a fan of the comic book, this game’s story didn’t seem boring and brought new elements to the plots. There’s also a Game+ after you beat the game which adds to the replay value. The Game of the Year edition comes with all of the DLCs which prolong the adventure and story.

Spider-Man is a beautiful game. There’s not much to say about the game’s graphics other than they’re lovely. Animations, in particular, are excellent and tight, making movement and combat both visually pleasing and satisfying to play.

The city is beautiful. Marvel’s Spider-Man is a fantastic PS4 exclusive and one of the best superhero games ever made. It’s more than a little amazing to see a game as good as Spider-Man release just a few months after the incredible God Of War reboot.

Add to that a great array of villains, some great world-building, a lot of great story and characters, and round awesome gameplay makes this game quite simply something you don’t want to miss. The gameplay in Spider-man is quite simply just stunning.

TL;DR: Spider-Man is a fantastic action game with great movement and combat and a compelling story that’s only dragged down from time to time with boring missions and QTE-based boss fights. The developer’s enthusiasm and hard work have paid off by creating a game that provides the ultimate Spider-Man experience.

It’s definitely worth buying.

Spider-man for PS4 was all but guaranteed to be a hit before it came out, dropping trailers that looked more like a web-slinging version of Arkham Knight than previous iterations of our friendly neighborhood.

Peter Parker? Yep, expect to play as Peter Parker nearly as much as Spider-Man in this game, at least during the story missions, but this turns out to be better than it sounds. Miles Morales and Mary Jane get their own levels, too, but these tend to amount to little more than stealth missions most of the time.

Still, it’s cool that these characters get a few moments in the limelight. The storyline and characters of Marvel’s Spider-Man drive the game and are ultimately what make it a success. From the opening battle with Kingpin, Marvel’s Spider-Man never stops dropping spidery Easter eggs throughout its main play.

Offering a bevy of twists and turns, just when the story– based on the Brand New Day storyline from the comics– threatens to drag, another familiar villain or ally, both old and new, gets thrown into the mix to keep things interesting.

Cutscenes are consistently entertaining and often exciting, and the climax of the game gave me exactly what I hoped for but didn’t expected to get. Traversal proves to be another huge plus in Spidey’s arsenal.

While fast-travel options appear after a few story missions, swinging solo across the city and doing aerial acrobatics never gets old. Fighting, on the other hand, can be somewhat frustrating as one often has to single-handedly fight off hordes of enemies but no more frustrating than similar games of this nature.

Sometimes it feels like it makes no sense on whom Spider-Man decides to focus when the baddies surround him and start attacking, but that’s how it goes. The game gives Spider-man plenty of gadgets and suit upgrades so that players should never feel at a COMPLETE disadvantage, and it’s thrilling when a well-executed plan comes together.

Although each gadget may be upgraded and each suit comes with its own unique power, some early gadgets and suits are so helpful that players may find themselves sticking to the same strategies throughout the majority of the game.

The biggest drawback of the game is its repetitive gameplay. A lot of the side missions feel familiar, especially if you’ve played any of the Arkham series, and usually amount to fighting waves of bad guys, stealth takedowns, or traversal challenges.

Early side missions force Spider-man to collect backpacks or activate towers so that he can access a map of Manhattan. as though SPIDER-MAN would need a MAP of Manhattan? The boss battles typically amount to figuring out a pattern and then repeating that pattern until the next section of the boss battle.

Again, this has a familiar feel, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but also doesn’t feel like it is adding anything new to the genre. Another drawback (at least for some) will be its relatively short length, especially when compared to similar games like Arkham Knight or Horizon: Zero Dawn, which offer a bit more bang for the buck.

Serious gamers will be able to get through this game in a weekend (or less, depending on how long you play it) and most casual gamers will not need more than a couple of weeks. Spider-Man is fun, but it is also familiar-feeling and a little short.

Fans of Spider-Man will most likely love it (I sure did!), and the game is worth the price for the story and how well it nails the feel of being an amazing spider-person. Excelsior!.

The Miles Morales game is fine. If you’ve played 2018 Spider-man, its about 50% more of the same. Some of the cooler gadgets from the 2018 game aren’t here, replaced by “venom powers”, which would be fine, its just not a gameplay element i am into.

Loved the focus focus on stealth, but some of the gadgets that made stealth fun in the first game were missing here. Basically, if you enjoyed the 2018 game, you will like this fine. However, just know going in that the story isn’t nearly as compelling, there isnt enough character development, and a high-school aged genius supervillain is pretty unbelievable, even for a game about a person with superhero spider powers.

Personally, I am very glad this version came with a download of the 2018 game, because after I was done with Miles Morales I could just jump right into the far superior experience from a few years prior.

Amazing Graphics, Amazing Storyline, Amazing Everything! This game is so good. I wanted a new game for my ps4 because I had nothing to play and saw this on sale so I decided to get it. It was the best game I got.

It was only 49 GB so I didn’t need to delete games and it didn’t take that long to download. Amazing if you want to play as miles, fly through the city and want a great storyline. 5/5!.

I loved the original Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4 and I loved Spider-Man Miles Morales. The story is excellent. It’s a bit on the short side but the side missions and collectibles are a blast. If you didn’t have a Playstation 4, then this package is the definitive edition as it also includes Spider-Man remastered in 4K and 60fps gameplay.

Fobia- St. Dinfna Hotel is basically one of the better Resident Evil classic clones. Everything about Fobia- St. Dinfna Hotel is screaming Resi Evil. the cheesy voice overs the puzzles, the combat and the looks.

Only negative thing about the game is that its Brazilian and the clues on the walls/notes are in Portuguese and not all of them are translated to English. voice acting is in full English so not to bad.

Great game that lasts around 10hrs first run through.

A Resident Evil/Silent Hill knockoff that’s actually really good but really tough especially some of the bosses. Medical items and ammo are in short supply. So make them all count….

This game is great! having a better time with Fobia than recent resident evil games,mostly solving puzzles don’t go in expecting a lot of combat though,highly recomended.

This is coming from a hard-core Xbox user. I ended up getting this console through a coworker of mine who was selling it because it wasn’t the version he wanted I had previously gotten a PS4 just for God of war and then got sucked into a few of the other PlayStation exclusive games.

My biggest issue with PlayStation has always been their controller it doesn’t feel ergonomically correct like the Xbox one I have big hands and I always felt like my hands were scrunched up and the other PlayStation controllers.

Once I got my hands on the PlayStation five I immediately noticed the difference in size not only the console itself which is huge by the way you’re basically buying a PC hard drive, The controller was the biggest difference for me.

Well it still has all the same buttons and features as the previous PS4 controller this thing is bigger and actually looks like they put some thought into the controller. It looks like it was made with some decent quality and I am quite impressed with it.

Aside from the controller and the big design overhaul I am impressed with the overall performance the graphics look pretty damn good I am very impressed and playing my PS4 games and they look better than ever.

I don’t have enough money to buy a PS five game until my next check but when I do I look forward to seeing how much the graphics will change even more. Loading screens are almost nonexistent in any game that I have played so far they last up to maybe 5 to 10 seconds if that depending on what you’re playing.

My only issue with this console so far is that I liked how the PS4 had themes on the main hub screen and you could kind of customize it a little bit. I know that the PlayStation five has barely been out and is struggling with meeting demands as far as people being able to purchase these things so it’s not a big deal but I look look forward to having that in the future particularly a God of war theme would be pretty cool.

I do recommend this consul I am very impressed I will still get the next Xbox when it comes available to me but for right now this was a great purchase and I have no regrets with it.

Finally secured a PS5 after many, many prior attempts, and am very happy with purchase and bundle from ShopTo. Console is big. BIG. It’s footprint is much larger than the PS4 Pro it replaces and you should take that into consideration as your current gaming setup may need adjustment.

Setup was simple, don’t waste any extra cash on ‘uprated’ HDMI cables unless you need significant length, the provided cable is giving me the correct resolutions on the right HDMI port on a 4yr old Sony TV.

Transfer from PS4 Pro of some games, save info and profiles took around 8 hours over LAN, wireless transfer will be longer so you may choose to backup to USB or SSD and transfer that way. NOTE – your capture gallery will not transfer and you must back this up separately via USB – also, PS5 does not allow you to import your captures [I bought a tiny USB drive to keep in the PS5 permanently to house my images].

In comparison to the PS4 Pro the PS5 is near silent – I no longer have to play RDR2 or TLOU2 with headphones to counter the ‘take off fans’ noise of the PS4 when working hard. The new controllers are quite a bit heavier than the PS4’s but their capabilities are a generational step on from earlier ones – the haptic feedback is amazing at time and adds a real extra dimension to immersion and control at times [drawing bows, firing etc.

]. For me its this area where the PS5 really kicks on. Early days for the gaming experience but Astro’s playroom is a lot of fun and really shows off the new controllers capabilities and HFW looks gorgeous – am looking forward to exploring some other PS5 titles [Deathloop, Returnal] to see how they step on from RDR2 and the like.

Happy I finally have one, the wait was worth it and, despite the significant outlay, I think it will provide many, many hours of gaming for some time to come. A PS6 will need to include a haptic immersion, a neuralink and embedded VR to progress from this!.

This is perfect for a kid who typically scratches up discs and can’t keep them in their respective cases. The form factor and size of the PS5 Digital could be a bit smaller as it barely fits in most entertainment centers.

I’d hate to imagine what anyone is doing with the disc version as it is clearly thicker. The system itself is exactly what I’d expect from a next generation gaming system. Graphics, sound quality, bluetooth and wifi have all improved when stacked against its predecessor, the PS4.

Graphics of course, are better due to it being next gen (this is visually impossible to miss). The fan on the PS5 is much quieter than the PS4. The bluetooth was clearly upgraded as I can now walk around my entire apartment with my wireless headset on without it dropping sound.

The wireless network interface card on the PS5 now supports fiber speeds. When buying games, however, I see how clever it is now to sale newer PS5 versions of games bundled with a PS4 version and raising the price $10.

I’d really prefer the option to choose instead of charging me $10 for an extra version of a game I am not going to play. In addition, shouldn’t a digital game be cheaper than a disc version as no production cost for a physical disc exists? While we’re on the hardware discussion of the device; whydoes this device only come with 1 TB of space when the most graphically intensive games are upwards of 90 gb (here’s looking at you Call of Duty: Vanguard).

Of course, I can purchase an internal m. 2 ssd to expand the space (and it’s VERY easy to install), but this creates yet another expense for me as a consumer simply because I decided to purchase a PS5.

All-in-all, this is a device I would purchase again due to the hype and because my kid wanted it. If there was no hype, I’d’ve probably waited until there is a PS5 released with a larger, native ssd and the disc vs digital price point is under control.

The PS5 is amazing! Everything came in perfect condition. It was a graduation gift for my son he loved it!!!! Definitely recommend! Just wish it came with a warranty. But that was the only thing I didn’t like.

Gamplay: A mix of Spider-man 2 and Batman Arkham games with it’s own identity mixed in. Web-slinging feel very natural once you get the hang of it, and way better than the Spider-man 2 game as you can more manual control.

You have to time your button presses to shoot out webs, calculate airtime, forward thrust and momentum. It controls are very seamless once you get used to it. Combat is very fast paced. Very similar to the Batman Arkham games with it’s attack, dodge (when you get spider sense) mechanic, but more room to maneuver around compared to batman due to Spider-man having more agility, speed and ability to web swing.

-Options for combat are: Melee Attacks Web based attacks Dodge Web Gadgets: use of elemental webbing and/or web bombs/traps. Some of which are super effective against certain enemies Swing Around- can be used as hit-and-run tactic if you’re not high enough level Grab nearby objects with web and toss at enemies Activate focus meter/Activate Suit Powers – heal or do finishing move There’s a lot of combinations you can do, especially as you upgrade abilities.

Combat is very fast, responsive and will not overwhelm you with options as these abilities will unlock gradually as you progress. It’s also not a button masher as some abilities require you to time button presses or hold buttons for few seconds during combos.

-Upgrade System There are 2 ways to upgrade Spider-man: leveling up and crafting items. There are 3 upgrade trees you can select from: Innovator: tactical skills Defender: Melee combat based Web-sling: Jump around/dodge better during combat, also can use in overworld/chase sequence mini-games -Crafting.

You can upgrade your suit and make gadgets by collecting in-game tokens by doing side objectives -There are 27 suits to collect. To unlock suits to craft, you have to be a certain level (and have materials) or complete certain objectives.

If you 100% all side objectives you get this half naked spider-man suit where he’s just in his underwear and a Spider-man mask. Last level unlock suit is at level 50. If you pre-order the game; the Spiderpunk suit, for example is unlocked from the get-go instead of having to wait till you reach level 16.

There are 3 empty spaces for 3 additional suits. I assume it’ll be included in the 3 planned story DLC for the game. -Other Gameplay To change up the pace a bit; you also play as Mary Jane, where you have to sneak around enemies to escape certain areas.

There’s also QTE (quick time events) during cinematic sequences Taskmaster acts like the Riddler in the Batman Arkham games giving you various side quests around the map before you face him Game takes around 15-20 hours to complete depending on your skill and how fast you intend to rush through the main story campaign.

To collect everything and get platinum trophy it can take upwards to 40 hours. –Graphics Game looks very good, especially on the PS4 Pro where Spider-man’s suit and puddles stand out more compared to the regular PS4.

Whatever format you play it on, the game looks amazing. Has very good draw distance, and cinematic cutscenes. If you are nitpicky and walk up to individualized objects, the textures may be off a bit.

Seeing the fast paced nature of the game, you most likely not have time to look around the over world anyway. Regardless, one of the best looking PS4 games to date Voice acting is also very good. Like the banter between Peter and Mary Jane.

Also get some fun laughs when you use the Quips (tell jokes to enemies) ability for the Comic Spider-man suit. Overall, had a blast playing this game. If you’re a fan of Spider-man or super hero games in general; it’s a must buy.

I’ve stayed up late playing games before, but this is the first one to get me so involved that I didn’t realize I’d been playing over twelve hours with only bathroom breaks. It gives you all of Manhattan to play in as an open world with a web swinging mechanic that actually pays attention to what the web is latched on to (Important to remember when you go from an area with high buildings into central park).

It borrows some mechanics from games like Assassins Creed and the Batman Arkham series and does so quite well for the most part. One area that suffers is how it copies some of Batman’s gimmicks. While much of what Spidey does can be explained by his spider sense many times he does things that’s explicitly explained through a HUD in his mask.

Having billionaire Batman with that kind of gear makes sense. Having Spider-Man who has getting evicted because he can’t cover the rent as part of the game, however, makes no sense at all. Sure this is a Peter Parker who’s been a superhero for eight years but nothing is mentioned about him having gotten help from Ironman or the Avengers with his gear.

You can get both the movie and comic versions of the Iron Spider costume (and every other movie costume) but no mention of getting them from Stark). The game includes several nod’s to other Marvel heroes too.

You can visit the Avengers tower, Alias investigations or Strange’s Sanctum in game (At least the outside of them). There’s even a nod toward a certain blind lawyer in H-ll’s Kitchen. However while you can use Spidey’s Future Foundation and Bombastic Bag Man costumes there’s no other sign of the Baxter Building or Fantastic Four.

As the plot of the game turns New York in to a literal war zone having of the rest of Marvels NYC heroes in the background leaves you wondering why none of them are doing anything about it. It’s a great game and ton’s of fun to play.

However, there are so many elements that seems to be included because they seem cool without consideration for how much sense they make to the story.

The PlayStation 3 is a console from so long ago, it’s hard to imagine the time where instead of talking about consoles being overpriced at $1000, we were complaining about it costing $600. Now, I don’t think you should spend much on a PS3 these days, because even though the console gets the random update every now and then, the console has long since been in the mainstream for two console generations.

However, if you want to get into gaming, a PS3 these days will give you access to one of the strongest libraries in gaming history. If you get an older, “phat” model PS3, you’ll even be able to play original PlayStation games and PlayStation 2 games from their disc, straight on the console.

There’s plenty of different models to look at at different price ranges and designs, so if you want to get into PS3 games there’s plenty of choices of designs from not just consoles but also accessories.

The durability of the product is reasonably high. The graphics are what most people would consider for a third generation console. This is the first generation that I’m aware of that happens to use both AV and HDMI for TV-based connection.

The storage of these consoles are good, too. The games don’t use a lot of data so you’re able to save the majority of your games without any worry. The price is right for this being a bygone-era product.

For the most part, I am satisfied with having a second PlayStation 3. Now I’m free to have more compatibility at home. The slim PlayStation 3 (the second one of the third generation) is kind of “heavy”, so be careful not to drop it!.

The PS4 Slim (given the technical title of CUH-2000) represents the new standard PlayStation 4 console. It’s a hardware revamp that incorporates a makeover of both console and controller. Physically, it’s a big change, but functionally this PS4 is the exact same as the console that you either already own or was thinking about buying before Sony gave it a makeover.

That’s not a terrible thing, though: while there’s no 4K Blu-ray player or bump in game performance to shout about (unlike with the Xbox One S), it’s quieter, leaner and less power hungry than its older brothers, making it a decent upgrade.

However, consumers now also have the choice of buying the PS4 Pro, which boasts a significant boost to performance, 4K gaming and even frame rate improvements for existing games, making the Slim the lesser (but cheaper) console.

The console is currently sold with two different storage capacities: 500GB and 1TB. The 500GB unit retails with an RRP of £259, but with retailers offering competitively priced bundles, you could add more value to the mix for not much more, and the same is true of the 1TB model, which retails at £309.

99. When leaked pictures of the PS4 ‘Slim’ began surfacing online, I didn’t think it looked particularly good. However, getting to see the new model in person, I can confirm my initial reservations proved unfounded: it’s a really cool-looking console.

Sony’s removed the beam of light running atop the console, leaving the slim with a simple matte black top and small PS4 logo. I always found the light bar on the console to be a massive eyesore and an outright annoyance when playing games with the lights off – which is why I’m happy Sony’s ditched it.

In its place you have a very simple, elegant (and also welcomingly dim) line of light on the power button. The vertical power and eject buttons have also been removed and replaced with small, “clicky” buttons on the lower half of the console.

It’s a simpler, more elegant look that makes mis-presses, which were a regular occurrence on the first PS4, a thing of the past. The angled design is maintained from the older models, though in this smaller and thinner form factor it’s not nearly as prominent.

The snazziest change actually comes on the bottom of the unit, with the face button symbols used for its feet. It’s a very cool bit of design. On the front of the hardware the two USB 3. 0 ports have been spaced out, with one sitting on the far right and the other just next to the disc tray.

It’s annoying that there’s still no rear-facing USB port, as having devices such as an external storage drive or PSVR headset plugged in permanently will make the new, slimmer PS4 look untidy. The right side of the console once again features the iconic square, circle, triangle and cross, but the circle is hollow to allow for the vertical stand needed if you want to place the console upright.

The slim PS4 has the exact same specifications and offers the same performance as the original PS4. It is, however, noticeably quieter. My launch PS4 screams like a vacuum cleaner working overtime these days, despite several (unsuccessful) attempts to clean and remove dust.

The constant whine of the machine is present whether I’m playing a game from a disc or the hard drive, or when I’m simply streaming Netflix. However, this new PS4 is absolutely whisper-quiet. Not only is the console smaller and better looking, but it’s also less power hungry.

I put the PS4 Slim to the test against my launch unit, comparing it by using three games: The Witcher 3 (on disc), PES 2017 (on disc) and Paragon (digital). You can see below the difference in peak power usage across all three titles.

All of the games were monitored across approximately an hour of gameplay, with the highest wattage level recorded. Peak power consumption: PS4 Slim CUH-2000/Original PS4 CUH-1000PES 2017 – 81W/147. 6WThe Witcher 3 – 88.
