20 Best Buy Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 2 (2023 Updated)

We’ve been owners of an Onyx Studio 2 for years. We loved the Onyx Studio 2 sound and portability. We used it at home, connected to the computer, at parties, at small events. The one thing we didn’t like was the legs on it.

A couple of years ago, one of them broke off and we had the hardest time keeping it glued back together. Well, we finally decided to upgrade to the new Onyx Studio 6 because we thought the legless design was much smarter, the white and gold version would match our decor better, and the leg on the old Studio 2 just wouldn’t stay on any longer.

We just set up the new Studio 6, pairing it with a phone and a computer (we also like that there is a 3. 5mm jack). We tested a few songs through the speaker and holy moly the sound was such an improvement over the Studio 2 that it shocked us! We couldn’t be happier with the sound quality, rich room filling bass, and awesome design aesthetic and quality build.

This speaker is a HUGE upgrade to our old Studio 2! I would definitely recommend this speaker to anyone interested in a portable bluetooth speaker. Harmon/Kardon will have my business for a home theater system as soon as they release one that supports eARC!.

Got this at a great price direct from HK and with the free returns, took a chance. Was always curious about this line of BT speakers, due to all the rave reviews. I already own several BT speakers, mostly from JBL.

The Onyx 6 overall has a very nice sound. The clarity of the midrange really brings out the voices; the top end isn’t too shrill and is pleasant. The bass isn’t very strong IMHO, but it doesn’t overpower the sound like my Xtreme.

It’s very musical even at high volumes. The word is use to describe the sound is “rich”. The unit is quite weighty, indicating quality, strong magnets. The look is unique, unlike anything else I own.

I must admit I didn’t play it at length outdoors and I don’t know if the battery is as poor as many have said. But I like it so far and am keeping it.

So I bought an Onyx 6 looking forward to the fact that it would sound exactly like the Onyx 5 I owned with the major improvement of IPX7. However. I couldn’t hide my disappointment when testing both speakers I discovered my Onyx 6 sounded noticeably (but not vastly) muddled compared to my Onyx 5.

The rich, Onyx-style bass was still there but not as clean. The treble wasn’t as clean as the predecessor, and the slightly muddled mid-tones disappointed me the most. I stressfully debated whether I should refund this speaker to retain my Onyx 5, or keep it for the sake of the waterproof technology.

Don’t get me wrong- Onyx 6 in general sounds superior compared to almost all $200 wireless speakers, and for general people the difference won’t matter as much. But because it still felt downgraded from Onyx 5, it became a little more comparable to something like JBL or Sony (Onyx 5 was incomparably better in comparison).

– If you’re sensitive to audio quality and plan to use it mainly as an indoor speaker or won’t move around a lot, I don’t recommend this. Onyx 5 will be much better than this. – If you enjoy good music, just want something much better than general wireless speakers, and is active (especially outdoors), buy this.

This speaker will last when you drop it in a pool or spray water. Onyx 5 won’t. I’m keeping the Onyx 6 with a tight feeling cause I’ve got wild butterfingers. So waterproof it’s gotta be.

I own them 9months now and they are still great. I bought them because Harman Kardon products always have the sound quality you want. Most people buy seperate earbuds, but those get lost really easy.

These hang around your neck and stick together with a magnet, so you can’t lose them. (Or just lose one of the two earbuds and then they are useless ) Also i hate that charge box, specially in the summertime.

To much stuff in my pockets. So i highly reccomend these, and any other Harman Kardon product for their sound quality.

This is actually my second purchase from HK. I bought two Onyx Studio 4 speakers. Both times I was actually looking for the Aura 3 and/or 4. However, the Onyx 4 is very nice, very easy to use and are of really good sound quality.

The only problem I’ve had so far is when the two are synced. Syncing them is very easy, literally pressing a button on both speakers. The problem is the secondary speakers losing sound. I’m guessing this would be a connection issue between the two.

It’s very problematic when they’re in two separate rooms. It only happens every once in a while when in the same room. Also, the volume on both speakers get a little funky when synced. One speakers would gain and/or lose volume while the other stays at the same volume, etc.

Separately, they both work and sound great! I can’t wait until I’m able to find an Aura 2 or 3 available… BTW, please make the sync feature available if you guys make an Aura 4?.

I bought my first Onyx 4 12 months ago. Picked it up under $100 dollars. The sound on this one speaker is equal to a full stereo. I opted to put on the base boost for all my music. The base is incredible! I don’t think anything can come close to the sound delivered by this speaker.

Like the speaker so much that I purchased a second Onyx 4. The HK connect is a really nice feature. You can connect with one speaker on bluetooth and run both speakers with the HK connect. Very slick feature.

I keep my speaker plugged in to take advantage of the full wattage of the unit. Twice the wattage while plugged in. Connects very quickly with the bluetooth. Almost forgot to mention the range on the bluetooth really surprised me.

I can easily play the speaker while located on a different floor in my house. Never drops the connection. I would highly recommend this speaker.

So I had another one of these for my computer and loved it. So I bought two more for the living room tv, a Samsung 65” with bluetooth. Kept get intermittent static on the secondary speaker, no matter which one I made primary.

So I tried optical, with a DAC, and a splitter. All kinds of issues. No volume control on the speakers or… Echoing sound or… Couldn’t sync the audio with the video. I must have done something because it was an issue with bluetooth and optical configurations and all of a sudden they synced up.

Tried everything, Changing PN settings, audio delay, and I got tired of messing with it. Runs fine with Bluetooth and HK* if you can stand a little static every so often and changing the tv settings a bit.

Otherwise I would hardwire with a home theater system.

I bought an onyx 6 a couple of years ago and like it so much that i gave it to my brother and bought 2 HK go speakers, one gave away as a gift. the over all quality and look of the HK go is nice and solid.

sounds great when it works correctly. for some reason, mine bluetooth is choppy no matter what device it is connected. I did test the device by connecting a mini bose bluetooth to those same device and found that the bluetooth connections are solid in all devices, except for HKGO.

it is very disappointing because there appears to have no fix as I could find on google. I have had many bluetooth spearks made by Samsung, Bose, Sony and Parot III. I have never had an issue with bluetooth being choppy.

I would never buy this product again nor would I recommend it based on my poor experience.

Maybe this review will help someone else out when purchasing a Bluetooth speaker. I have been using Harmon Kardon for years, and their audio and customer service is one of the best. I coming from my last speaker that gave out on me which was the onyx studio 5.

I thought I would replace it with this guy, and try a little different set up. The audio on this guys, is very well done, the base, with the Mids, Highs, and Lows are tuned just right. I feel like the audio comes in just a hair cleaner and more well balanced then my studio 5, but they both were so good at what they do, its hard to say.

One thing that I have always liked, is the long 8 hrs of battery life you get, plus when you have it plugged in, you are able to put out more watts and get more sound from your set up. This speaker is not a WiFi enabled speaker, but that’s perfectly okay for me.

If you want to do a smart speaker set up, you can directly connect it up with your Alexa, and use this guy with it. You are also are able to pair two directly up together for stereo sound. One thing when you first open this guy up or for that matter the Harmon Kardon speakers, is you will feel just how well they are made and super heavy.

This guy weighs a ton, but with a nice handle you can take this guy anywhere. I use it indoors and outside all the time and its the best. The Ports are also all sealed with a nice rubber cover. Just in case you do happen to get some water near by, don’t worry.

Anyways, maybe this will help out someone in their choices. I will say the onyx speaker may be a little more portable, given the design of that line as to this set up on this guy being more wider. Just a tip to keep in mind.

Ran across this speaker and I must say that I am quite impressed with the sound quality as well as construction. I see A Lot of JBL in the HK speaker as far as construction, but the sound and balance of the HK is much more refined than JBL Extreme.

The BASS output of this speaker is amazing. So far, all lower frequencies sound great. Sustained bass sounds better than punch IMO. Impressive that I can feel the bass with a speaker I can curl with a pinkie.

Sounds great in “hard” open rooms. Homes with open floor plans and hardwoods will take advantage of speakers design. It’s great on the deck too, close to a wall or sitting right on the deck. Power. 100w output (plugged in).

The speaker is portable, but there is a noticeable drop off in sound and power when operating solely on battery. If I cranked it up on battery, it will get the job done, but battery life goes I believe in 2hrs and power output to 50watts.

**You can link together**. I believe two of these can be linked. Common now with many speakers, but frustrating with JBL and HK. (((JBL has connect and connect plus and some speakers have firmware updates and others don’t and once you update one speaker you can never factory reset the speaker back to work with another JBL product that doesn’t have a firmware update))).

Run on sentence from HELL which actually describes what it’s like to link the speakers together. JBL owns HK and wouldn’t you know it…they won’t pair together. JBL if you’re reading…come on. Tighten up the connectivity, offer firmware updates for item still offered on your websites.

Maybe even consider putting a highly visible disclaimer that a product you sell, may not work with other products. Example (JBL Extreme) no firmware available for connect +. Will not connect with ANY of my Charge devices.

Summary: Older speaker but absolutely amazing if you can find for under $200.

I’ve owned this for about 3 months. I really like how sleek and portable the device is. It also has really nice sound when it works. But my two major complaints are this: there is no feature to skip to the next song from the device itself.

If your phone is across the room and the speaker is next to you you have to get up to find your phone to change the song. But most importantly, I can’t get the darn thing to pair to my phone anymore.

It’s either not charging or not staying on because I turn it on and it immediately turns off even though it’s been on a charger all night. For $90 I expect a lot more.

I love the size and idea of this little speaker. While it is not bass heavy on songs that should be, it does almost have clear sound. There is always a slight fuzz sound in the background. It doesn’t matter what is playing.

When there is nothing playing, the fuzz sounds is even louder. The cost of the speaker is rather high to be having issues with sound and connection. The app does not work and it requires location services to use.

I bought this speaker phone recently, and I think it is a very good speaker, crystal clear sound with a great microphone. Especially during the time we need it at home, can be used as conference speaker as well.

I haven’t found a speaker this size that has a better mid-range. I’ve tried many others, even the JBL Go 3, the JBL Clip 4… but this one always wins out. Whatever driver they put in this speaker is quite frankly the best they could’ve put in for watching shows and movies.

Other speakers can get loud, but the balance always favors bass and the lower end over the mid-range. The result is the drowning out of vocals even at high volume. But not this one. The JBL Go 2 is actually backwards- the bass is there but not overpowering, and the mids are extremely strong.

That’s what makes this the ideal speaker for watching shows and videos with vocals. You don’t have to be at max, or even near max, to hear the voices come out clearly. When I use my other similarly-sized speakers, I often have to crank them to max to get the vocal volume I want.

This is a great speaker that I hope they keep manufacturing. It has a good place on JBL’s lineup, even with the more rugged JBL Go 3’s existence.

What a great Bluetooth Speaker!. This JBL GO2 Waterproof Ultra Portable Bluetooth Speaker is come up with great volume and sound quality and also with full-features waterproof. This speaker is lightweight, the weight is about 1.

Battery of this speaker can stay long about 5 hours, but in my case can stay more than 5 hours depends on what type of music do you listen, if you listen to soft music or music that not sound to heavy the battery will stay long than music that have heavy sound.

Because this speaker is waterproof and I can use it while showering, this part is a good choice/answer for everyone who likes to listen to music while showering like me but my old speaker doesnt have this feature.

It works well for young people who like to party and also work well with people who like to travel and dont want to bring a big one or people who love to listen to music while showering like me.

Overall this speaker is worth the money that we spend off because it is full with good features, good quality, easy to carry and use and also comes up with many colors that you can choose in this JBL GO2 speaker.

Quite upset this little speaker doesn’t last long on a charge. But even more ANNOYING is it WILL NOT stay playing while charging/plugged in and it has made me HIGHLY REGRET buying this speaker. I LOVE LOVE my JBL Extreme, and my Bluetooth headphones.

But this speaker is AWFUL. This is the only speaker I’ve EVER run into that shuts off while charging, and it can be after 2min or 20min but either way, IT WILL SHUT OFF MID CHARGE. Even OLD Bluetooth speakers don’t do this.

And I’ve tried different plugs, different cords, different adapters, it doesn’t matter, it does it with the JBL, or ANY OTHER ones I use, and it does it while plugged into an extension plug, or directly into the wall.

So, I’ve tried it all and because I’m partially deaf, I HATE that it does this bc I NEED an external speaker. The sound is great for a little compact speaker, but the charge does not last even if you FULLY charge it, don’t use it for a few days, and then use it for 20min, it’s already dead.

Never again. I don’t recommend. The short battery life isn’t such a huge deal as I use it at home, but the NOT playing while charging is an absolute deal breaker.

Great sound, ok bass from such a small form factor especially at lower to mid volumes. From CD quality audio you get almost full range, refined sound from the little 16w speakers. Fingerprint magnet on it’s black rubberized case.

VPN login seems to be messing with sound quality/distortion occasionally. Will be resolving with Soundcore tech staff. Then I’d give 5 stars. Looks great on my desk with it’s minimalist almost Scandi design.

Select 2 model, does not have an aux input but has upgraded to Type-C charging cable and is compatible with PD charging technology, (I use my laptop charging cube interchangeably with all my devices now).

Calls are crystal clear allowing for hands free work during conversations and the intuitively programmed buttons are large and give satisfying tactile feedback. You don’t have to look at the buttons to figure which is volume etc.

and you can search etc. on your compatible (Android) device The visually challenged might find this helpful. I haven’t figured out NFC pairing feature yet but Bluetooth pairing was simple anyway. It would be fun to test the Party Cast feature by linking to multiple speakers (up to 100) but the price tag doesn’t warrant getting another one just to test 🙂 but for what I paid, I’m happy overall and have an awesome addition to my home office and almost every other room as it fits in seamlessly into any décor.

The IPX7 rating has given me the confidence to put it on the shelf in my bathroom even when I’m in there and it is small enough to slip into my medium sized shoulder bag. the battery lasts almost all day I haven’t tested the 20 hour claimed time as yet.

I purchased from the Anker store in ebay; it came as part of a lucky box deal July 2022. First, I was a bit disappointed as the Lucky box description said one will receive the latest technology at up to 60% off retail.

But this model is one level down from the Soundcore 3 and vaued new at $50. With the two earbuds sets I got, for $99 altogether, I was “unlucky” Since it’s waterproof, would be better with a strap to improve portability.

The sound is pretty loud and bass is good. However, mid-range, vocal and melody, is not as crisp as my JBL Go 2. Bass is definitely stronger and sound louder than the JBL. I also like the big buttons on this model.

The blue model is a flat sky blue 💙 and pretty. I would recommend if one can find this at a competitive price point.

One of the BEST bluetooth speakers I have ever used. even easily syncs up with Ubuntu Linux and MXLinux. It auto connects to the last device used all on its own. No other bluetooth device did this well or comfortably.

I despise the bluetooth protocol but this makes it bearable. It, like all other bluetooth devices has audio lag though. so you can not use it a portable little DJ speaker for bbq’s unless you plug LINE-IN directly.

a MUST have! Many bluetooth speakers including the newer SoundCore 3 lack this. What a terrible move! I’ll stick with the Soundcore 2 and may buy another because you can Sync 2 of them together! One will act as LEFT speaker and the other as RIGHT.

I’ve purchased all other portable Bluetooth speakers around the $500 – $600 price point and nothing else comes close to how deep the bass can get along with keeping the clarity of the meds and high once you place the volume on max.

I’m looking into buying another one in order to make my sound experience a stereo experience. Definitely recommend this product. One con tho, is when compared to the other Bluetooth speakers around this price point is the battery life.

I usually average around 7 hrs when compare to others that last around 20 hours.

I’ve had my Hardon Kardon Onyx Studio 3 for over 8 years and I was mortified when it stopped working. The speakers were loud with a thunderous bass that I love! Even whe. You press the ON button, it BOOMS so loudly! Unfortunately, this one model Onyx 4 reminds me of a speaker purchased from a bargin store rather than the manufacturer itself.

The sound and bass is just not there. It had me questioning whether the $99. 00 sale price was to get rid of the “refurbished” stock? By the way, I never bought anything refurbished therefore, I can’t understand why my “brand new” looks good but doesn’t sound good.

I will be returning and hopefully, you send me back a speaker that is worthy of the $400 plus price tag.

I recently purchased an HK Studio 4 speaker and it’s the best Bluetooth speaker for the money – hands down. I replaced a speaker from another company because it was distorting when I increased the volume.

The design of the Studio 4 provides for better sound distribution and the large bass speaker handles the low tones very well. It has a nice handle built into the back of the speaker to easily carry it and it has solid built-in stand for stability.

I ordered it on Friday and received it on Tuesday with free shipping. The whole process was smooth and the speaker was exactly what I was looking for in a Bluetooth, portable speaker.

The sound is incredible. The tweeters give a cristal clear and neat sound. The Woofers are just OMG. Round and deep lows and I found almost no audio file that would saturate the speaker. Sound wise, it is a pearl.

HOWEVER, and this is a big however, for being a portable device, I found the shell and stands to be TOO FRAGILE. I took it outside on my porch, the wind blew something that fell on the table and made the speaker fall on the ground.

AIt was a fall of less than a meter high. While the audio still works perfectly, the speaker does hold the charge anymore. It bearly gives me a couple of working hours before I have to plug it. The rubber ring around the speaket popped out and so did the mesh on the front side.

The worse, one of the feet broke. I glued it back in but it keeps fallig off again and again after some time. And I keep glueing it ever since. TO FRAGILE This really blew it for me because I can’t really do much with it anymore and it ‘s VERY frustrating.

Always have to find a way to make it stand but the woofer does its job so well that the vibrations end up making it fall again. It is a shame it is so fragile because it does take a tall on the overall punctuation.

This is a great Bluetooth studio Speaker. The quality is awesome and crystal clear. Can be connected to your Phone, TV, Tablet, and Computer. This does not need an improvement, it goes great in a office, living, Dinning, kitchen, outdoor patio, workout room, studio, kiss room, teen room or dorm.

The price was not bad at all I would definitely recommend to friends or family. Love it and I can’t get enough of.

If you are looking for a small speaker with a big sound, then look no further! The Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 3 has a very crisp and clear sound even when the volume is cranked up. There is a 5 hour battery time which is more than enough for what I’m using it for and the fact that it can be paired with other speakers for a surround sound experience is the icing on the cake! The legs may a bit delicate, so dropping it or setting in on hard surfaces repeatedly with force isn’t recommended.

Its a great little speaker that does the job of the big speakers especially for the price. I love it and think you will to!.

First off, I bought one, then bought an upgraded version of the speaker and encountered the same frustration. I want my money back. Great sound when it’s working, but there are some major problems that just seem to never be fixed.

The only thing good about this speaker is the sound it can produce IF it just so happened to be functioning properly. The battery for the speaker is terrible. No excuse, it’s just terrible. The power cords are flimsy, and the bass will give out not long after heavy use.

The Bluetooth is very bad. At this point, I’m just trying to express my frustration without swearing heavily. I made a mistake buying an upgraded version thinking it would be any different from its predecessors.

Bought the onyx 7 at TMobile because they had a great deal & I know Harman Kardon is well known for producing products with top quality sound! I still believe in HK’s quality products! However, I have to be honest & say that I am very disappointed in the product I purchased & am now stuck with because TMobile will not take returns after seven days! The speaker is eye catching & put together very well.

I like the bass & sound quality however, it is not very loud & even difficult to hear once you get more than 50 feet away from it! I work an 8 hr shift for a well known wholesale company & am allows to listen to my music for four(4) hours.

I bring it to work with a full charge but, the battery doesn’t even last the 4 hrs I have to listen to it! The manual claims it will last 8 hrs. I haven’t got it to last that long yet! Honestly, as much as I like the Harman products I would not have purchased this speaker had I known it lacked qualities I look for when buying a speaker! For the money I spent on this unit, I could have bought a better portable speaker with the sound & quality & would have saved a little money as well.

Overall, good product, over priced & not worth the price it is retailed at!.

I have been testing this now for about 3 weeks via Reviewclub and use it often. The sound is great! The bass is indescribable! (Wish I could adjust it down occasionally as there can be a lot of bass at times).

But the bass is too good to be a portable speaker The battery lasts a long time, even with a loud noise. And everything with it is simply very good. Best portable speaker I have ever come across! If there had been an equalizer and the ability to select settings for various music choices, it would have been even better! Definitely worth every penny, the only downside is perhaps the size as they are a bit worth dragging with them everywhere.

With a slightly lower volume, the battery can last a whole day, and with an electrical outlet nearby, you can quickly recharge it. I have previously tested other speakers in the same class, but think this is the best so far.

I may be missing a bigger update than Onyx studio 4 as it seems that the effect is the same since the first time these were produced, should have been significantly much better by now.

I returned two of these units since I thought the first was defective. Air is heard escaping the top of the device when playing low frequencies. It sounds like subwoofer port chuffing, but worse than I’ve heard it anywhere else.

It’s bad enough that under the right conditions it’s the loudest part of the song being played. Like I said I thought my first speaker was defective, but after an exchange and hearing the identical noise out of the replacement I have to assume it is a design flaw in the speaker.

Amazingly I can find no other reference to this issue online. Extremely disappointing given the reputation this speaker has as well as its price point. The product has some redeeming qualities but when this level of distortion is inherent to the design of the speaker, two stars is generous.

This is my second Onyx Studio I have purchased and I LOVE it. There are some issues though. The speaker will cut in and out of songs every once and a while or what I call “skipping” which is a issue I have had with both Onyx Studios I have gotten.

The battery doesn’t last as long as a normal portable speaker would but for the sound quality and just the amount of insane bass this speaker produces you won’t mind and plus I have them plugged in to an outlet most of the time which makes the maximum sound even louder.

Besides the “skipping” where it cuts of a good 30 seconds of the song cutting in and out it is an amazing speaker. My JBL Charge 3 would do the same thing too every once and a while so it might just be a Harman Kardon problem that they need to address and I hope they will eventually through a firmware update and let us put the service port into use.

I love this speaker though. Please let me know if anyone else is having an issue with song “skipping” also.

I bought this one month ago. I have had HK Sound in a Bmw 335 once and it sounded fantastic! and since then I have become somewhat of a fan of HK. Most bluetooth speakers I have used have dissapointed me in general and originally I was skeptical how good this HK Onyx could be (even if i really like HK).

I had read good reviews but I was still skeptical. HK was offering a great price on the Refurbished Model of Onyx so I decided to give it a try. And. I have to say, I absolutely love the sound. It is literally amazing in the quality of sound it puts out.

I like the simple, clean, and classy look, I like the buttons on top. I’m glad they are spaced out, makes it easy to tell which is which if you are using them in the dark. Sometimes I wonder if it may have been better if the buttons placed in top front but that is probably a personal preference.

Then people could place these in a bookshelf and still be able to access the buttons. Again, just a thought. Overall, very glad I bought these. Love the sound, will definitely buy again.

First off I would say that anything Harman offers as “Factory Recertified” will be a terrific value and in exceptional working condition. This is the 3rd recertified purchase from them and they’ve all been just great.

I’ve wanted one of these Onyx speakers for a while and after hearing how great it sounds, wished I would have ordered one sooner. The battery life on this one seems very good so far. Pairing was quick and simple.

Oh did I mention the sound quality is simply stunning? It looks and sounds great in any room I’ve put it in. I have no use for an aux input or handsfree so the feature set on this first gen. edition works well for me.

I, like Caleb searched and listened to many portables. From small to bigger, $80-$400. I agree with much of what Caleb had to say in his critique. I couldn’t find the portable speaker that had the rich sound I was looking for.

I agree the Bose and this Onyx were the only 2 options. I didn’t bring both home. I bought mine at Bestbuy for $185. I hooked my phone up to both systems and hands down the Onyx took out the Bose. Especially the volume.

Bar none, can any other speaker I heard top this. At high volume the music sounded fantastic, no matter type of music I played. My one issue is that it should have an Aux output. I would have like to have the ability to connect to a TV, anything that doesn’t have bluetooth connectivity.

Other than that, this is best sounding portable speaker I have heard under $400. Yes, you can find now under $200. It is very classy well designed speaker that you put in any environment.

Harman Kardon did all their marketing correct and none of their engineering correct. I write this review now after having one unit replaced thinking it was defective, but ohh no this entire product is defective.

The Bluetooth connection has about 320ms delay. This causes video/audio to not be synced. I verified this lagg on 3 devices and 2 test units. Thus, only useful for music and not any video (YouTube, Netflix), or even Zoom calls.

Ok, great. Blutooth doesn’t work–let’s just use that handy AUX port then? Wrong. If you use the AUX port and there is a pause in the audio >4 seconds it will auto-turn off, then it takes 2-3 seconds to turn back on when it realizes there is still a signal coming through.

Ohh, ok. Well what if I just plug it in while I have the AUX port? I’m not leaving the desk anyway. Wrong again. There is improper shielding in the unit, so when it’s receiving power + AUX there is electrical interference that renders in background crackling/noise.

Very annoying. At least it has USB-C. No. you see, it only accepts low volatage USB-A power. So you can’t actually use a USB-C to C cable. I won’t charge. It only has this so they can market it has USB-C.

Ok. well what about that dual-mic conferencing system? HA! I cannot even express how bad the microphone is on this thing. Your iPhone is better, your laptop mic is better, I’m pretty sure phones from the 90s had clearer microphones than this.

What about the build and sound quality? As most other reviews say, it doesn’t have a strong presence of bass. For voices / TV shows I had no problem with it however for my needs. It travels well, nice materials and looks the part.

But don’t be fooled—you’re buying a speaker first, aesthetics is second. Given the above, it’s terrible at being a speaker so design can’t matter. So. how do I use this product then? Well, you don’t.

You avoid it, return it, and get the Bose Soundlink Micro. And, much like me–when someone says that some people hate Haram Kardon, realize it’s actually for a reason.

I have to say that this speaker really has me impressed. I got it on Black Friday for 60$ and all things considered that was an amazing price. I would still gladly pay 100$, although I think 150$ is too much for it.

It’s sleek and classy design is very easy on the eyes, and it delivers high quality mid range sounds for its size. It can get quite loud at full volume and the mic was confirmed to be of crisp quality which would be great for long calls.

I do wish the speaker had more bass to it, but all things considered, it’s pretty darned near perfect overall for what I paid (again, I got it for a steal).

Wasn’t impressed with the sound quality of a Harman brand. I have 2 Bluetooth speakers BOSE and a JBL both speakers surpass the HK speaker in strides. Just think of a tin can playing music. I returned the speaker shorty after.

However the leather case and style of the speaker design is a 5 star. If your looking for a beautiful paper weight then this speaker is for you. Otherwise stick to the BOSE line or JBL.

I’ve bought 4 of these – they have beautiful sound, are well integrated with Office365 for schedules, etc. , and work with Skype. Once you enable IFTTT, it works with most smart switches and also works with Amazon’s Alexa and vice versa.

Sound: Very, very good sound – especially good for jazz and classical/post-classical. Not overly bass heavy, like some speakers – neutral tone, nice projection. Can fill a very large room. Microphone: Much better far-field ability than Amazon’s devices.

It can pick me up from another room – handy when answering a Skype call or changing music. Voice control: The beauty of Microsoft’s approach is that you largely do not need to enable specific skills to get results, as it is using their semantic search and machine learning – the key is to ask the right questions.

By and large I use this more than our Alexa devices. Office integration is helpful. Skype: integration with Skype us good (on par with Alexa), and I frequently use it to make calls. Included Skype credits with Office365 ensure that I can call any landline or mobile line, in addition to Skype address.

Pros: – very good looking; – high quality materials used by harman kardon; – nice, clear sound; – the micprophones catch your voice from almost anywhere even from other rooms; – Cortana has some nice answers such as “dude!” when you ask if she likes to party , even can play “rock paper scissors” etc.

Cons: – at max. volume , the speaker looses the strong bass , it sounds more like screaming than music 🙂 , but you don’t need max. volume for a good audition as it has enough power to serve a good audition at about 60-80 % vol.

– the initial setup pairing is very hard if you’re outside US , as you’ll need Cortana app for android, iphone etc and it’s not available in Europe. – the plug in adapter is a mess, it needs lot of improvement; – the bluetooth does not work too well, I did not managed to connect it to my laptop , only to the phone and also it stops playing the music from the phone via bluetooth at irregular intervals of time and you have to press pause and then play on the phone to play again the music.

– bluetooth is not available if whole setup with Cortana app is not done; – also Cortana needs improvement, even if she’s funny , as she stated herself when asked how old is she : she says “i’m a spring chicken” born on 2nd of april 2014;.

First and foremost, it’s a beautiful speaker with crisp loud sounds. The microphones that let Cortona hear and respond to you are sensitive enough for a normal speaking voice to be picked up, even when playing music.

My only gripe is that Cortona is not as intuitive and versitile on the speaker as the one on my phone or PC. I can do most basic things, but if you have contacts on anything (Gmail, Yahoo,etc. ) but the people app connected to Cortona then it will not have access too it.

I have alot of music on my “One Drive”, but it’s not accessible, hopefully this will be rectified, I can use iHeartRadio, TuneIn Radio or subscribed Spotify as music. It takes notes, remembers n reminds like my phone or PC Cortona.

I added my smart house features to Cortona and it’s performing admirably. I’m currently using the wink hub which Cortona accesses everything through. Overall I understand that this is Cortona’s first outing into this field and the short comings will hopefully be rectified in the future.

FYI, the Cortona Skype feature with this speaker has free calling in the USA. I’ve played with it a little and it “works” when it has the number in it’s people app or calling a business, but the caller ID shows up as annonymous.

(I think there is a fix for that, I don’t know).

The Harman Kardon Citation 200 is now 2 Weeks in my possession. The first impression starts with the packing. You can see the high-quality while your unboxing the Speaker. The Speaker comes with a Charging Pad and a cable.

Because of the AirPlay support, was this the first function which I tested. The sound is clean and I really enjoyed listening to my music. After a few songs I started to set up the Speaker with the Google Home App.

It was really easy and the Speaker was ready to use after a few minutes. There are 3 ways to connect your Smartphone with the Citation 200, Apple AirPlay, Chromecast built in or Bluetooth. The Google Assistant works pretty good.

The requests are processed quickly. When you don’t want the Assistant to listen to you, you can mute the microphone on the back of the speaker. The Citation 200 has a simple but really good looking design.

You can carry the speaker with the built in handle. With nearly 3kg the speaker isn’t a lightweight. I would recommend the Harman Kardon Citation 200. The Sound is great and you can carry the Speaker where you want.

The battery lasts round about 8 hours.

I was so lucky to test this through Reviewclub for some weeks. But when we found out that we could download Google App and use Google Assistant on it, everything got EVEN better! The sound is very good.

Absolutely ingenious that you can control the voice of the speaker! And it just got better and better as we found more features. The kids love it! You can get the latest news in the morning, set up a shopping list, make it stream on the radio and the kids have even made it tell jokes! The best thing was probably when I tested it in the bathroom while I was in the shower and could change song, radio channel and adjust volume without having to press.

The challenge is that if the volume is too high, it will not be able to hear the commands. The battery capacity could well have been a little better. We got to test the black one and it looks nice, but the grey one looks absolutely beautiful.

I really like the design. It’s a matter of taste – the Harman Citation 200 is definitely an eye-catcher. There is nothing wrong with the sound. The bass is sufficient, the highs clear without clinking.

The speaker’s biggest flaw, however, is the software. The volume cannot be regulated well at all. The lowest level is not really quiet and too loud for room volume. You can at least control it on your mobile phone via Bluetooth.

However, the Alexa app does not allow you to control volume or sound. It is URGENTLY necessary to make improvements here!.
