There are many different types of bras that can be worn during labor and delivery, but the most important factor is comfort. Many women find that a sports bra or a nursing bra is the most comfortable option, as they provide support without being too tight.
It is also important to make sure that the bra is not too loose, as this can cause the breasts to bounce around and become uncomfortable.
20 Best Bra For Labor And Delivery
1. Cake Maternity Cotton Candy Seamless Nursing Bra in Pink
This Luxury Seamless Maternity & Nursing Bra is silky soft & built for comfort. Its carefully positioned double-layered side sling, strength panels, and T-back structure are designed to maximize lift and support.
(T-Back design allows you to wear many racer back styled tops. ) The Cotton Candy Seamless Maternity/ Nursing Bra is ideal during the initial stages of pregnancy, immediately post childbirth and as a sleep-bra, when your breasts are rapidly changing in size & shape.
This bra will grow to accommodate your changing bust size without restriction. It features pull-over styling with a hook and eye closure.
I got this bra and wanted to love it, but it fell short. The pros: It has a great soft and smooth, seamless design. Straps weren’t super skinny or super wide, nice medium width. Cups unsnapped and snapped for nursing easily.
The back was nice and smooth, no back fat squeezing out. Cons: The sizing was way off. According to the size chart, as a 36DD, the M should have fit me, but it didn’t. The band I was able to wear on the biggest hook, but my breasts spilled out the tops and sides of the cups.
The design also mashed my breasts together like a sports bra. I found the fabric kind of sweaty, too. I wish I had gotten an L or an XL to try, even though according to the size chart that would have been way too big.
Would work in a pinch. It fits okay but the lack of padding and design makes it pretty bumpy and breastmilk pads would be a must. While the fabric is okay and stretchable, it seemed like it might wear out super fast and also stretch and remained stretched out too fast too.
I think there are better bras out there in the same price range. Go with a bestselling Leading Lady one.
It took forever to find a great comfy bra for my growing fast boobs in this pregnancy. I finally found this one. So happy I did. 100% recommend for any and all pregnant/nursing mamas! It doesnt even feel like you’re wearing a bra.
Our breathable blend of organic cotton and tencel modal in the original full cup nursing bra embodies both coziness and comfort. Add to that a wide bottom band and racerback, and you’ve got a bra that’s specially designed for full cups to get you through pregnancy to breastfeeding.
I bought this for nursing but I started wearing it on week 33 as wired bras were already digging in under my breasts and feeling very uncomfortable. I was immediately in love with this bra. It is so comfy! I followed the Bravado size chart from their official website and sizing was perfect.
The cotton is soft and stretchy, so I know it won’t feel too tight even when I start nursing. I like that it has no padding because it won’t be too packed when I start using nursing pads. The only thing I don’t love is that the bottom strap (the one that holds it it place when you unclip it) is weirdly long for the shape of the bra so you either have to fold it under the clip or wear it on the side, almost outside of the bra cup.
Features supportive built-in shelf bra with no back closure and removable foam inserts for shape and discretion. The long length offers coverage for pregnancy and nursing. Clean styling for layering versatility for everyday wear.

I had purchased nursing bras, they had padding and just caused me hassles. The padding bunched up, and go in my ;little ones way. Plus the other nursing bras never held the pump flange correctly. With the other nursing bra, my little one would detach, and re had to realign to reattach.
This bra sits under my breast, and stays there. And it holds onto the flang, as long as I make sure the fabric is out of the way. It took me only once to figure out how to get the flange attached, but so far great.
This bra works nicely. It is even comfortable enough to wear to bed. (Hint, watch the color choice, I found that this color was just a few dollars less than another color). This is the best bra for nursing and pumping that I have found.
The other pumping bras were uncomfortable, and I often found I was nursing and pumping at the same time.
Second time nursing Mom that has been through quite a few nursing bras. This bra was a life saver when I went back to work after my first born. Once I realized this pumping and nursing bra existed it saved so much time on my very tight schedule.
This is the ONLY pumping and nursing bra out there I’ve found to be super convenient, supportive and comfortable. Just bought a new one because my other was quite worn.
I recently purchased two of these pumping bras/nursing bras, the sizing is on point, and still has room to stretch and grow comfortably. I have been wearing sports bras for years and have never had a band so comfortable.
I am still currently pregnant so i cant say much about using them for pumping but i have fit my pump in there it it holds medela and spectra shields in place and comfortably even with frequent movement.
I would recommend this bra to any mother to be. The seems dont even show underneath a shirt and there is no digging feeling from straps or bands. Simple comfort and much easier than having to buy three different bras.
Would probably still wear after breastfeeding has finished just because of pure comfort. Thank you for making such a great product!.

I had my first baby 4y ago, and the nursing bra selection in H then was bad (pretty much one brand only and all gave me triangle squashed boobs). I’m stunned and delighted this time round, this bra is fabulous! Great fit, lovely smooth rounded shape, really comfortable, good straps to keep everything in place when you unclip the cups and a nude to boot! Very happy boobs, thanks! I also love Bravissimo Molly.
I usually wear the Panache Porcelain plunge as my everyday bra. This is the nearest I could find in a nursing bra. Really comfy, doesn’t show under clothes and the clips are sturdy and stay closed, unlike some cheaper bras I tried.
The lace trim is pretty when its on but sometimes gets a bit bunched up when undoing and doing up the cups. Despite this, I’m really pleased and have bought three to get me through my breastfeeding days.
Tried loads and this is by far the most practical and supportive (as supportive as nursing bras get anyway). Had 6 after first baby and immediately ordered 4 more after 2nd so far! Work with lost outfits/tops and like that they come in black and nude.
This Anita Jacquard Underwired Nursing Bra lifts even heavy breasts to where they belong and looks as great as it feels. Anita 5035 is designed to be the perfect T-shirt bra for nursing mothers. The light-weight, seamless cups feature a pretty Jacquard pattern that won’t show through your tops.
The patented Kwik-Klip closure allows you to open and close the cups with one hand. The underwire and fabric slings provide fantastic shaping that is often missing from nursing bras. A leotard-style back design helps keep the straps in place and provides additional support.
For a beautiful silhouette and easy nursing, you’ll love the Anita Jacquard Underwired Nursing Bra!.

I absolutely love this bra! I stopped wearing traditional bras last year because I was having back and shoulder pains resulting in frequent migraines. I’ve improved greatly, but the boob sweat is unreal.
I ordered this bra after reading a recommendation on a breastfeeding fb thread where a mom complained about boob sweat. It’s so legit. I’m sitting in a park right now in coastal Georgia with no boob sweat.
The bra crosses between them so not only are they staying dry, there’s no uniboob either! Somehow while maintaining minimal pressure on my back and shoulders. It’s exactly what I needed.
This is incredibly comfy and fits well. It is easy to nurse in. It is also super cute. Why not 5 stars? The fabric is WAY TO STRETCHY. By the end of the day, its so loose and supportive. I mean, I really like it, but Im not the most active person but just hanging out all day, and Im suddenly flopping around and falling out.
\n\nLike the cut and literally everything else about it!.
I absolutely love this! Fits perfectly, yet there is still room to grow a bit when the milk comes as it is a very flexible and amazingly soft fabric! First nursing bra I’ve managed to sleep in! Makes life so much better! I would love to buy more in different colors, but I’m not much for patterns, so I hope there will be more boring options available soon ;).

The staff at Nordstrom was extraordinary in helping me find the perfect nursing bra. Being my first pregnancy I not only received excellent advice on bra fit, but was also advised on the timing of purchase surrounding my birth.
Once my baby was born and my milk supply leveled I ordered this bra online. It has made me feel feminine again, giving shape to my breasts that other nursing bras did not. It is well constructed and durable to withstand nursing access.
It’s also able to accommodate for my nursing pads without feeling bulky. Above all, this bra is has convinced me that there is a more flattering and comfortable alternative to seamless cotton nursing bras.
Ruminas Hands-Free Seamless Pump&Nurse all-in-one Nursing Bra is the perfect foundation to support a moms unique and beautiful pregnancy and breastfeeding relationship. Moms dont have to buy a special pumping bra, Ruminas Pump&Nurse Bra can be worn as a maternity bra then transition for breastfeeding as a nursing bra with a built-in pumping bra.
Ruminas Pump&Nurse bras and tanks work with all breast pumps and have been used by 10’s of 1,000’s of busy moms who want to comfortably give their very best.
I own several Rumina pumping bra styles that I like and use just fine. So Rumona isn’t a bad brand, I just dislike this particular design. I’ll use it as a last resort on laundry day. It would work fine as a typical nursing bra, but I can’t stand this it as a pumping bra.
I’m exclusively pumping. I NEED decent pumping bras that can be worn all day, used with ease, and discrete under work clothes. I don’t have time or patience to be changing my bra or strapping on a pumping bandeau bra each time I need to pump 6x or more a day.
Sometimes it’s on the go in the car. This bra requires that you slide the straps down, unlatch the front clasps, and squeeze the funnel into the tiny opening from the inside out, then assemble the pump apparatus.
Moving the straps every time and squeezing through the tiny funnel holes seems like minor inconveniences, but are such a HASSEL for the frequency that I must pump. It already takes time to remove/shift clothing, assemble things and get comfortable to pump, this fiddling adds precious time to the process that needs to be spent on my job or with my baby.
After finally setting it up, I think that the bra holds the funnel at an awkward angle and it doesn’t provide much coverage while pumping – which is a little disconcerting when pumping at work even if the door is locked.
I don’t feel comfortable pumping in the car with this either. All and all, there are better products out there for this purpose that make life a little easier (not more difficult) for hardworking mamas.
I was looking for a nursing bra that could support the upward slant of my pumping flanges and I found Rumina. I, of course, read the other reviews and then peered closely at the pictures online to see how they were able to have a sleep-nursing bra look that also provided hands free nursing capabilities.
I ordered the bra in nude and so far so good. The bra has an almost triple layer feel which allows for a pocket system that lets the user place the flange against the breast, support it by the lower pocket and then secure the hold with the upper pocket.
A better explanation is to flatten your hands, palms facing outwards and thumbs pointed towards one another, make a triangle with your hands by touching your thumbs and index fingers to one another then move all the fingers of your right hand over your left.
That space in between your thumbs is where your flange (breast shield) and the bra manages to make a pocket that supports the flange with two layers of the bra. I will admit that I haven’t been able to completely cover my flanges with the bra as seen in the pictures, but since I pump in private that is ok by me.
An added plus is that the bra is very comfortable and easy to sleep and the cross over back gives support that allows you to wear it outside. I plan to order more of these bras for when I return to work and perhaps even some of the cami’s.
This bra looses the elasticity and the fabric is cheap material. To pump, you need some compression to the breasts to get more milk flowing but this is loose and does not provide enough compression. And the fabric material is cheap and the yarn on the breast side comes off.
Natori Feathers maternity contour bra with underwire for support. Lightweight spacer cups offer comfort, support and clean look under clothing. Feathers soft scalloped lace on neckline and center front.
Inner frame for containment. Maternity closure with easy-click open and close. Nylon/spandex. Nylon/Lycra spandex mesh. Cotton/Lycra spandex sling. Hand wash. Imported.
So perhaps my breast size is too large for this product, I don’t know. I’m 6 foot tall, not small- framed, and currently a 38C or 40C. I got an XL. The band size was appropriate, but the cups just couldn’t contain the girls.
I had to adjust the cups over and over again all day long any time I wore this. At any given point, the top of the areola and nipple were sticking out of the top of the cup. And sleeping in it? Forget it.
I’d wake up and BOTH puppies would be out. Usually during the day just the right one would completely fall out, because of the way the bra criss-crosses. And my right breast isn’t even my big one. My left breast is about a half a cup larger than the right! I couldn’t even imagine the problems I’d have if the bra criss-crossed the other way.
Also at night, the removable inserts would get all crumpled up, and I’d have to adjust them in the morning. I think it’s very comfortable, when it stays on. It looks cute with the mesh detail. I really like the placement of the straps.
They are nice and offset, and so they don’t show underneath a shirt. (You know how normally a sports bra’s straps like touch your neck on each side? This bra doesn’t do that, which I really like. ) I just need bigger cups.
Or a non-plunge model might be better-suited to my size. I’d say if you are C cup or larger, this might not be for you.
For the discerning yummy mummy, the Sophie nursing bra from Panache encapsulates the desire for style with the practicality needed by new mums. The cups feature stretch cotton top cup for breathability and comfort, while the inner slings and lined bottom cups offer support.
The feeding clasps adjust to six positions for a customised fit and the non-wired, super soft jersey feel make it oh-so-comfortable. The adjustable straps feature a plush back for comfort and a secure back provides support.
When I first tried it on, it seemed to fit me really well but within wearing it properly for the first couple of hours, I was overflowing out the front and I feel like the back is starting by to ride up already.
(I had the next size up for comparison and that was far too big. ) I bought it 3-4 weeks ago when I was 6 weeks post partum. It could be that it’s just not that supportive for large boobs or perhaps it’s just that breastfeeding has made my body change very quickly.
Either way, it’s unfortunately now just a bedtime bra for me. It does look beautiful though.
Its lovely to look at and seemed to fit really well, and good shape, but by the end of the day I needed to tighten it- move to the 2nd row off hook and eyes. I wear a bra for 2 days then hand wash. after 3 washes, I now need to wear it on the tightest hook and eyes and by end of the day it is too loose.
I think if I had been able to come for a fitting maybe I would have been advised to wear a different size. When I can I will visit a shop and also I hope it will be in other colours, especially white or a bold colour.
The other black bra is also lovely, again different colours please.
When I first tried this bra on i liked it as it’s a nice looking bra. Unfortunately once you wear it properly it’s so uncomfortable! I’m a GG cup and just think it’s not designed well for a bigger bust.
The straps are short and have limited room for adjustment. The band under the bust is really thin so isn’t supportive. After one afternoon or wearing it I had backache so haven’t worn it since. Wish I had returned it!.

The smooth & amazing fabric you love, now made for nursing/Mama By Aerie organic cotton nursing pads are quick-absorbing, washable and reusable, making them easy to use (and better for our planet, too)/Clasps at front strap for easy nursing/Inner.
I love this bra. I bought the “nude” color first and went in to be induced for my son. My L&D nurse complimented me on it and was so excited to get one herself when I told her where it was from. It was so comfortable in the hospital that I ordered another in black a few days after my son was born.
I’m now 3. 5 weeks into nursing with multiple kinds of nursing bras or regular bras that were recommended to me to use as nursing bras and these are the only ones I want to wear. I was 32C and with nursing probably a 32D or DD.
I got a bra based off of my pregnancy size but even with engorgement these still fit comfortably even though I should probably buy the next size up.

My baby is 1 year old and I have tried almost every brand of nursing bra out there. I can’t believe I waited THIS LONG before splurging on Negative. Let me tell you, it is worth every penny. My husband saw me in this and said “WOW”, which he has never in any of my old nursing bras.
The old ones were either bulky under clothes and looked like grandma bras, or if made my boobs look good, they usually also gave me mastitis since they were too restrictive. This bra is the perfect combination of a little support, a good plunge, functionality, and it lays flat under shirts.
This bra is really comfortable, and the size 4 is a great fit for me at 36DD. The support is nice and the clips are easy to do one-handed. But I should have considered before I bought it that a super-thin bra cup might be cool, but it’s not the best in a nursing bra.
The sheer material doesn’t absorb any leaky milk, and it’s not masking these mama nipples under any clothes. I didn’t realize how much show-through there was until I was out and saw my reflection. Oops.
Great bra, really comfortable, but it stays at home from now on.
I have tried so many nursing bras at this point. Some around the same price point. Some much less expensive. This is by far my favorite. It is so light and comfortable but feels supportive. For reference for other purchasers: I started using this bra several months into breastfeeding so I can’t speak to wearing it during pregnancy or during those early extra large breastfeeding days.
Every woman’s body is different and will respond differently to labor and delivery. Some women may find that wearing a bra during labor and delivery helps them to feel more comfortable and supported, while others may prefer not to wear one.
Ultimately, it is up to the individual woman to decide what is best for her own body and comfort level.
