Reviews From Real Customers
There’s differing opinions about the sizing on these pants in the reviews. i think this comes down to body type/shape. i typically fit between a small-medium or 6-10, depending on brand and time of year (i gain/loose depending upon season, living in the north with long winters).
for reference, i am 5’4”, muscular hourglass curvy frame, and typically weigh between 145-160. Natural waist is at 29”, hips between 41-44”depending upon time of the month. with a small waist, hips/booty and thick hard working thighs.
i’m the Carhartt leggings i wear a small (there’s a break in period with the waistband on those but a medium would be loose on the waist for me). i ordered these pants in a size 10 and the waistband was a real chore to get over the hips.
they were way too form fitting to be comfortable actually working (or even sitting in!). if you like your work pants baggy/loose fitting, i’d recommend sizing up a couple sizes, or just buying mens pants.
i homestead and have animals, large food gardens, hauling wheelbarrows around, shoveling, bending, kneeling and squatting in the gardens. i like my pants loose and unrestrictive (which is why i chose “loose fit”).
now, the material…. the first thing i noticed before i took it out of the plastic is how lightweight it is. i was very disappointed with how thin these are. they feel delicate, which is NOT what i’m looking for.
i was expecting the same heavyweight quality of my husbands pants. read descriptions carefully! i’ll be avoiding anything with “rugged flex” in the description and closely reading product info from now on, especially the fabric content.
i want 100% heavyweight duck cotton, none of this stretch garbage that is everywhere now. yuck! i have leggings for that, when i’m not working! PROS: the actual design of the pattern is fantastic! lots of pockets and loose in the right places.
i’d reorder in a size up if i liked the material. i ordered the dark brown and love the rich, beautiful color. i’ll be heading to the mens section for some REAL work pants (which is where i also get most of my hoodies since they’re actually heavyweight).
CARHARTT, please listen to us hardworking ladies who are telling you we want the same heavyweight options as the mens section! So many reviewers are saying the same thing across so many of these designs.
we want the exact same thing as the mens pants with only slight alterations to the patterns in the crotch/waist/hip area to be tailored more towards a woman’s body. i own more Carhartt gear from the mens section than the womens!.
Very comfortable material; appears to be well-made. I really appreciate the ample opening and extra deep watch pocket (additional front right pocket), because I do wear a pocket watch, and this pocket can be so small it’s non-functional on other styles of pants/jeans.
The right leg pocket will hold an iPhone; I suggest the designers widen the left one enough to also accommodate a phone; some working folks have to carry a personal and a work phone, and the lefties out there will love you for it.
There’s a little gapping in the waist at the back, however I do need the room in the butt and thigh for a comfortable fit. Fortunately, there are enough belt loops to fix this by wearing a belt. My only complaint is that the waist rides a little lower than is comfortable for me, and I find that without a belt, the pants do tend to slide too low in the back.
I also experience my belt buckle riding up over the top of the pants and poking me in the gut from time to time, and this could be remedied with a slightly higher waist design, or an additional belt loop in the front, close to the fly, where the buckle sits.
NOTE TO CARHARTT: please update your survey to provide a non-gender specific option(s).
Writing a review here as it’s the closest product to what I had bought (the Crawford Double-Fronts). I bought these for forestry field work, I ordered the smallest size possible to get as close to my normal size.
At 2 short, the length was great, the legs fit great, but the waist was disproportionately large. I had to take in the waist by a great deal, and even after that I still have to wear a belt. Putting anything that had even a little bit of weight to it (hammer, DBH tape, flagging) made it feel like my belt was working extra hard to keep these pants up, which is not something you want to be dealing with on steep, ashy slopes.
Additionally, the material was not very durable. At the same time that I purchased these, I also got a pair of Dovetail Britt Utilities. I have taken both pairs through two field seasons, climbing, and day to day use; the Dovetails are the pair that have not given me holes- these Carhartts are threadbare in about 75% of the pants, and have been since about a year after I first got them.
Overall the fit, durability, and pocket depth were subpar, but the upside is that they’re very comfortable and allow for great range of movement.

The fabric is nice and the colors are true to their name. These are American-sized pants and are accurately described in the size chart. I wish they came with blazers because it is very difficult to find women’s business attire with belt loops.
These pants have functional loops and functional pockets.
I love these pants! They fit so well and are very flattering. The length is perfect and they are roomy in the hips yet don’t gap at the waist, which is a problem I’ve had with pants from other brands.
I bought a pair several years ago and they have held up amazingly well.

With the variety and quantity of pockets, there’s a place for everything. For me, they’ve held up against so so much. The material is tough but not too restricting. I’ve bought both black and dark navy and love the colors and consistency.
Cannot say enough about these pants! LOVE LOVE LOVE Minus one star due to minor problems (that I would truly only take away half a star for). I bought pants during two different time frames, the earlier pants wore on the thighs but was patchable and the latest pairs I’ve bought have a slightly faulty snap (which the belt fixes).
Again, minor, but worth noting. Overall, I am so happy and content with these pants and will not be switch anytime soon!.
Well, I was excited to wear my pants, I’m a size 8 in all brands of pants, except these pants! Haha! They didn’t go past my hips. I am a curvy woman and I don’t know if these pants are designed exclusively for women who are less curvy or if my but it’s just too big! I gave them away to a coworker who typically wears 5-6 and she fit ok in them.
I guess the secret it’s to buy them at least 2 sizes bigger if one happens to have a curvy body. I won’t buy another pair unless I can actually try them out. Other than the sizing issue, they seemed sturdy and have plenty of pockets.
I wish I loved these pants more, and everything about them is amazing, but they run big. And don’t offer a smaller size. I ordered a size 2 (the smallest they offer) and they are easily 2 sizes too big still.
Offer smaller sizes in ems pants! I love the scissor pockets and the higher back for support. But man oh man do I wish they actually fit me without them bunching behind my belt. I end up wearing my Blauer brand pants now everyday and these where a waste of money.

To start, the waist to hip ratio is off. There needs to be about an inch less fabric around the waitst to get a proper high waist sinch effect. They run a little long but i love hemming so not a problem.
They were out of black so i bought the white thinking I could dye it. Mistaken though, tried Rit synthetic dye, then a mixture of regular & synthetic, and finally to soda ash powder dye. None were much effective beyond a dark grey and i attribute that to the textile mixture.
Still a great turnout though so if youre considering dying try and use a powdered soda ash dye or a industrial strength dye. Pants fit at my butt/upper thighs then fan out for a 70s style silhouette.
Trendy and easy to style, they have classic dickies stitching (that doesnt dye). Would recoomend sizing down one size if youre an 8+, seems to be extra fabic included in the waist beyond size 6. Also would recommend a belt.
I am high waisted/short torso and the black wide legs fit great. Now that they have more colors, I ordered the cross hatch color. The cross hatch twill is sturdy but not as stiff as my black ones. But the fit is different.
Hips and legs are the same except now there is a waist gap. I can pinch at least 3 inches of fabric at the top. It’s annoying, but I will keep them anyway (only because I can tailor my own pants). I want to order the pink ones, but I don’t want to have to FIX another pair of NEW pants.
How do I love these? Let me count the ways: Style is cute and flattering, very feminine. The pants are long enough (yes!). They are versatile; you can dress them up or down. I have black and khaki and the colors are nice and practical.
I have four pairs already. If I could change anything, I would prefer higher quality twill and also I’d like the belt loops to be a little taller as only thinnish belts fit though the loops. But for the price, they are fine.

I have previously purchased numerous pairs of these women’s TDU cargo pants and loved them all. On this order, I purchased two pairs—one black and one navy blue. I love the navy blue ones as they are just like all my others.
However, I am not happy with the black ones as, for some reason, they have the snap/button closure on the opposite side, requiring retraining of more than 20 years of muscle memory for just this one pair of pants.
I thought that they may be defective, but when I contacted the company, they said that this is the new design. This change was not noted anywhere in the online summary. Weird that I ordered and received both pairs at the same time but they are opposite as to placement of the snap closure.
After having issues with my first order I ordered a second because of the quality. I can tell that they paid attention and my order was shipped quickly and the pants was of great quality the fit was on point.
Please pay attention to size as they run big. I weigh 153 would normally wear a 14 but had to go down to a 10.
I have been buying these pants for years. The first pair I bought about seven or eight years ago, and they are just now wearing out to the point I’m considering not wearing them to the office. I have something like seven pairs at this point, and I pretty much don’t wear anything else.
That said, 5. 11 keeps changing them:-The original pants were perfect. -The next generation changed the pocket dividers, making it harder to carry concealed. They also came with much longer and bulkier blousing straps, but those could be cut off.
-The most recent generation (end of 2012), in addition to the last features changes I didn’t like, made the last three pairs of pants unwearable for me. The waistband is bulky and stiff, and much looser.
it is at least 2-3 inches bigger around on all three pairs, even though I ordered the same size as always (small, 27. 5″-31″). I usually wear a belt to cinch things snug, but the waist band is so stiff, that is impossible without leaving the snap undone.
I am selling these pants to someone who wears the next size up. I’m going to try the XS, but if those don’t fit, I’ll have to find another brand. I’ve tried the women’s versions, since I am female, but those only come in ripstop, which I have a pair of and don’t like.
The twill is an awesome material. why isn’t it available for women’s TDU?I wish 5. 11 would bring the old design back.

The Stryke Pant is my everyday pant. This time I bought the long pants, but often I buy the shorts. For work I get the black color to hide dirt better. This was my first time purchasing khaki, because I wanted something “dressier.
” The pants are super-sturdy, and survive many repeated washings easily, while still looking good. These khaki Stryke pants look good enough, and “civilian” enough to be suitable to conduct daily social business, without looking tacticool.
The cargo pocket flap nicely covers the clip of my knife that I clip down there. The long pants fit me as expected, but the shorts fit me small, so I purchase one size up.
Very unsatisfied. I’ve worn these pants for 4 years and I absolutely loved them!!! They fit me perfect! However, this year I had to purchase two new pair bc my size 10’s were too big. I tried the 8’s and couldn’t hardly button.
So I tried a 10 and they fit smaller than my other two that were huge now. I ordered a 10 on 5. 11 website and they fit like the 10’s that were huge!! So I’m like what the heck is going on. So I tried the 8 again and they fit so snug around my pelvis/hips.
I don’t understand why every pair now fits different? I’ve seen so many reviews now that people are having the same issue and it is very upsetting. I really hope y’all take the reviews serious and try to fix this issue.
I don’t want to have to order multiple pairs and multiple sizes just to try to find one and hope it fits.
The standard uniform trousers my force issues are terrible. Hardly anybody wears them, which means everyone is in the market for new pairs of trousers. I must have spent over the years a good couple hundred on cheap trousers which lasted a few washes before losing their colour, and all of which ripping within a few months.
After my last pair of Primani ones ripped during the pandemic, I decided to take the plunge and actually spend some decent money on a good pair. These are fantastic. They retain their colour, quality with every stitch, deep pockets with separated parts within the pockets themselves for quick access to items, it’s genuinely like they thought of everything.
The waistband has an enclosed elastic waist which is very comfortable too. The legs are very much a straight cut however, these aren’t slim fit at all. May be worth getting some cheap trouser twists to help the fit on the leg if you prefer it slimmer.
Don’t buy cheap, definitely just buy these twice.

I agree with some of the other ladies on here. I love that the waist band has the rubber to help keep your shirt tucked in. It has stretch in the waistband to have some give, or tightness in it. They are stretchy and have lots of pockets.
BUT. the flashlight pockets in the back are ridiculously long and the Velcro in the middle of id does make it uncomfortable to sit on for hours and I just want to cut them off which I may do. other than the flash light pockets on the back side, these pants are great! I ordered a size 2 unhemmed (took somewhere) and my waist is 27in and hips 36in.
I love these pants, with lots of pockets to put things. I gave the magazine to a co worker, and she ordered a couple of pairs. I’m glad I was lucky to catch them on sale the day i ordered, that’s why I got 4 pairs.
I not only can wear them to work I can wear them on casual occasions too with a nice sweater or blouse. Once again I love the pockets. Thanks again for a very helpful sale representative.
Pants are nice but the seat and legs are slightly tight. They’re still confortable because of the stretch but they do not adjust well to sitting then standing. I have to pull them down each time. I’m 5’11”, 185 lbs, medium build and I have size 33’s.
Maybe next time I’ll try a bigger size and get the waist taken in. The sizing on 5. 11 pants is not consistent.

Reviews From Real Customers
Tried these because I’m still on the hunt for durable leggings with pockets I can hike with the dog in. Several friends recommended these so I ordered a pair, and they were awful from the moment I tried them on.
I hate floating-elastic style waistbands. I’m in between plus and regular size and have some extra weight, and floating bands tend to fold over themselves inside the pants, plus they just don’t stay in place as well.
Sure they don’t fall down, but they ride up which is equally annoying. The fabric was odd, though perhaps more because of fit. They were very long (then again I’m short) and were baggy in strange places.
For example under the knee was baggy (not behind the knee, but below it), and the hips were too wide as well even though the waist fit fine. I also expected more, better pockets. I wanted at least one pocket on the thigh, not cargo-style but slim and stretchy, which could be added to the design where the overkill knee patch thing starts.
The front pockets were gap-y and not big enough, I wouldn’t have trusted my regular-sized iphone in it while on a good hike much less car keys. Overall a swing and a huge miss for me. I’ll go back to my regular pants, which oddly enough are Carhartt men’s cargo scrub pants.
I love so much about these pants but there are a couple of things that just don’t make these a 5 star rating. PROS Rugged AF Lots o’ pockets Fits well around the legs I really like the color (navy) They wash very well.
They looked brand new when I took them out of the wash. CONS The material is kinda slippery, meaning that stuff falls out of the pockets The waistband constantly slips down. I’m not sure if this is because of the cut or the material but it’s a pain when you’re trying to work and your hands are too busy or too grubby to pull them up.
I definitely agree with other reviewers about the lack of belt loops or hammer loops. I wish rugged pants like this focused on the part that is usually the first to wear out on me– the inner thigh. I got those thicc thighs, and every pair of pants I have inevitably rub through there before anywhere else.
I’ve never worn out a knee or a hem on a pair of pants before that gives out. And, having a seam in this area exacerbates the issue.
Love the material and that’s about it. The fit on these is incredibly awkward. I ordered a size up after reading reviews and I’m glad I did. The waist fits perfectly, but as an average size woman, I find the waistband has a tendency to cut in and really accentuate the “mom pooch” making them rather unflattering.
The crotch is also ridiculously loose, like there is a lot of room there and it just looks really weird. I feel like these are styled more as men’s straight leg pants than women’s leggings. I was also disappointed in the lack of back pockets and front pockets.
I do like the zippered pocket as it’s perfect for securely stashing cash/credit cards and the side pocket is great for phones, but I expected there to be back pockets at least. Unfortunately I’ll be returning these as I don’t find them to be comfortable with the extremely loose crotch (especially when they’re fitted everywhere else).
I was expecting a much better styled legging for the price.

These scrub pants are great! I tried them on a whim and love them. The material is soft & smooth, with a good amount of stretch & flexibility. I also like that the material isn’t too heavy, but feels great and seems really breathable.
I got the wine color, and it is good quality, not see-through. The straight leg is nice, not too boxy. To me, they run a bit big. my hip size is 40 (which is Med according to their chart), but I ordered a small after MANY previous fails of other scrub orders being way too big when I go off their sizing chart for hips.
The small fits perfectly for me, fitted around the hip and upper thigh, then looser/ straight leg on the knees & lower legs (I’m 5’6″ and 130lbs for reference, size 6 pants). If you really like a looser fit to your scrubs, then I recommend going off the sizing chart.
Otherwise, maybe order a size down.
These pants are great!! Reasonably priced but still very comfortable and functional. Love the fabric, it’s got a nice silky feeling to it, doesn’t cling to every curve like some of the others I’ve tried on, does wrinkle like crazy and repels pet fur (a major bonus for me).
I now have 4 pairs in different colors.
Love these pants! Much better than the normal provided scrubs by my work. Fit is a little smaller but still perfect for me. Enough control with the drawstring, but still some elastic so they don’t dig in and don’t fall down! I was hesitant about the material but quickly changed my mind.

Love these pants. They are so comfortable to wear and very durable. They are also water resistant/waterproof which is a plus because I use them for station wear as a firefighter. The only down fall is that they tend to be a little warm so I get hot easily but overall Great pants.
Highly recommend!.
I recently purchased these pants. The crotch is long from waistband down! Figured I’d try men’s as I already tried women’s and they are the same. I thought it was just me but I have other crew that recently ordered also and they state the same thing.
I don’t think they will be good for winter because of the material. They sit way to high around the waist. They are up around my belly button and I along with others don’t like that. Will not purchase again.
Other than that which was the most important to me the design is nice.

I love these pants! I normally wear the men’s size 36x30in in the Chelsea. The largest size available was 14. and only in 32 length (I’m a 30 length) I was a little worried that 14 would be too small or not comfortable.
But they are very comfortable! 32 is too long but I can deal with that. I would definitely recommend and buy more when I need them! The only con I would say is the front pockets are much higher than the Chelsea pants.
Harder to hang my drill from! I would recommend getting the Helly Hanson knee pad inserts!! I am an electrician and find I kneel constantly! Saves my knees!!!.
Very happy with the pants. Sizes are true, and although it is not a stretch material it does relax a bit so keep that in mind if you are in-between sizes. I’m 5’6 and 135lbs and I am wearing the size 6 and longer leg length.
The pockets are not detachable which would have been a nice feature. Overall a great purchase.
I bought these 3 months ago and decided it was time to review. I overall love the fit and all the pockets make an easy way to hold what I need! Only downfall of these pants is having no extra material between the thighs.
I find most women’s construction pants in general is them blowing out there. Otherwise they are holding very well.

Someone did a TikTok review on these leggings and I had to give them a try. I ordered a pair immediately and fell in love! So much so that I purchased 3 more pair that afternoon. The pockets were the main highlight for me! Women’s pants never have enough pockets and if they do, they aren’t very deep.
These are now my favorite trail riding pants! I have enough pockets for all of my stuff and the front pocket is large enough to carry my pistol. I love the material and the comfy fit, they do run a bit big and I only wish that they had belt loops, because the waist was a little big for me.
But, I was able to cut a slit on the front of the waistband and thread a belt through it. These are definitely a Must Try!.
These should not be advertised as Work Leggings. Ladies, they are not good for work. I don’t trust them on the job, they are not reliable for carrying neccesities. They are just leggings with two zipped pockets and a side pocket.
They should be marketed as fall/cool weather leggings with pockets. 3 stars for the price. for pants. You get what you pay for. Sizing runs big. The leggings also run large in the waste area, which causes them to pull down when I put tools or items in my pockets.
Construction is not good. After one week of use, the seams started opening up and now on of my pockets cannot be used because everything falls through.
LOVE these pants. They are not too expensive, so no worry about actually wearing them for work. They are so very comfortable, and have several pockets with zippers so you can protect your phone or not lose your keys.
The narrow leggings style means you can step into your muck boots and not have the pants bunch up around the top or have to stop to tuck them in. And even tho they are named leggings, they don’t fit tight at the butt and thighs – if anything, they are a little big around the waist for me, but that may be a personal body style issue and not a negative for the pants.
I bought a pair at the store – then ordered 3 more online because I loved them so much.

I’ve had a pair of the no-fade black Britts for about a year now and wear them almost every day, and I’m impressed with how well they’ve held up. Mine are from the first run so I can’t speak to what the current run may be like and things may have changed.
Here’s my thoughts on these pants. Fit/Design I have this and two pairs of denim Britts that I wear regularly. This one feels baggier and stretchier, especially in the butt and crotch areas. I don’t notice it as much anymore, but it does move and drape differently than the denim.
The overall dimensions are pretty much the same, but the pockets are not. The left thigh pocket is 2” lower on my no fades than on my denims, and about 1. 5” wider. I added a couple stitches to keep my phone from sliding out.
The pen pocket is 3/8” shorter, and that’s enough that a sharpie doesn’t clip. Material/Stitching The material is tougher than I expected when I first put them on, given that it is thinner than my denim Britts.
Truly, they are still as black as when I got them a year ago, no fading into another color like my Carhartts did. There’s a row of small holes and puckering where the screws on my knife sit, but that is more a problem with the knife than pants, because that’s happened on other pants (Hey Dovetail, I’d love to have leather reinforcement on the popular knife clip spots.
For me that’s the pocket above the pens). The material is doing well, but the edges are not. It is unraveling significantly inside the fly placket and I have to cut the strings off occasionally so it doesn’t get stuck in the zipper.
The button hole is doing the same thing to a lesser extent, and one belt loop unraveled halfway through before I could fix it. I love the black thread, I wish it was used for all of the stitches. One row of stitching has come undone in the places where I clip my knife and walkie-talkie.
Overall, I love these pants and will buy them again as they are, but these issues are addressed.
I have so many brags on these jeans, and only one criticism. Let’s start with my size and the work I put all of my pants through 7 days a week. I am 5”7 and 150lbs. Most of my lower weight distribution is through my things and butt.
I wear both a 10/32 and 12/32 in Dovetail pants…the 32 length gives all of my pants the ability to have a 3” ankle cuff roll. I work loading and unloading furniture and assembling items on dirty surfaces with glass, grease and general filth.
These pants are incredibly versatile when squatting, walking, stretching, bending and sitting. They have a flattering contour that is not baggy nor is it a skinny Jean. The rise is perfect so that I never have to tug at them (I wear a belt) to keep them on my hips and up across my lower back when squatting.
The double fronted knees allow me to scoot around the dirt or floor without feeling every pebble under my knee and the durability is unmatched. I doubt I will ever begin to wear the knees out because the denim is SO durable.
All of the pockets function AS POCKETS. No shallow “joke pockets” on the Maven-or any pant I own from Dovetail. I have the ability to carry a box cutter, sharpie and pen on my right leg while clipping a walkie talkie radio almost anywhere.
My cell phone can fit in either rear pocket or hideout on the nicely angled left leg pocket. I follow the care instructions when cleaning all of my Dovetail pants to allow for the longest life possible, but despite that the one area that I have had to repair on all of my Maven jeans is the crotch and inner thigh.
I know this is always a struggle for women like me who walk 7 plus miles a day while sweating and working in dirty conditions. That’s a recipe for quickly breaking down those fibers. We’ve landed on the moon…surely something can be done here.
I would love to see a gusset crotch (like the Britt Utility) along with fabric that is double reinforced like the knees of the Maven are. I live in these jeans and it bums me out when I have to take them to my sewing machine to reinforce one area after about 8 months of wear.
My hope is that the awesome designers at Dovetail can modify this area to also be as badass as the rest of this pant. So in closing…if you’re on the fence about these pants or this company I encourage you to go get a pair, and then go get 3 more….
you won’t be disappointed!.
These pants are LEGIT! I’m a general laborer so I do a lot of different things; from climbing ladders, working underneath machines, lugging trash, carrying concrete, buffing flooring, scrubbing spray paint… many different tasks.
These pants move with me so well I dont have to keep adjusting them. They look nice and can take a serious beating. So far I dont see how they could ever rip or wear through (usually i wear through either under the butt cheek or inner thighs because CURVES AND MOVEMENT DONT USUALLY MIX!) They feel tough and strong and the stitching is impeccable.
Slightly heavier than a flimsy pair of regular everyday jeans but definitely not heavy weight or overly hot. I am in LOVE with these pants. Strong enough for construction but still fit for a woman. 10 years I have been searching and I have found the best work pants ever now.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THESE!!!!!.

I love the look of these pants and shape they create. Very professional but the fit and sizing is very different from the seasonless trousers, ponte pants, and jeans I’ve worn for years from WHBM. I am consistently a 2 petite or 2 short depending upon the waist to hip ratio of WHBM pants.
Everything was off in these pants for me in a size 2. It took 4 different orders for me to find my correct size. I honestly feel bad for the associates at my local boutique since I have multiple pairs I ordered that didn’t fit that I’ll be returning.
The 2 petite was too tight (too uncomfortable to wear all day to work) through the waist and a little more snug through my thighs than I like for work. The 2 short looked awkward. The waist was way too big which caused the hip area to ride up.
I finally tried a 4 petite. These fit perfectly. I ended up ordering both the lunar and sergeant color. The sergeant color is a nice deep olive green color; they looked more brown online but I like the color in person better.
If boutiques carried both petites and shorts, it wouldn’t have been so difficult to find my correct size. For reference, I’m 5’3”, 125lb, and a pear shape with muscular hips and thighs.
I have a closet full of these comfort stretch slim ankle pants from years past so please do not say they are the same. THEY ARE NOT ): I ordered my usual size of P0 and the rise, stated as mid-rise, in the front was 10 inches (not a mid rise petite pant) and the back rise was 14 inches still too long for a petite 0 pant.
They were tight thru the hips and thighs even though all of the P0 in my closet are a perfect fit. The fabric is also scratchy and that is new. I am so disappointed that you would change the fit and fabric of these pants that have been a strong seller for years.
I had planned to buy at least 3 new colors now I will not purchase any. Too bad WHBM sometimes you should leave well enough alone or just explain that these are not the same. YOU CANNOT FOOL YOUR REGULAR SHOPPERS ): SHAME, SHAME, PLEASE BRING BACK THE PANTS THAT FIT PETITES NOT REGULAR SIZES WITH SHORTER INSEAMS ):
I love this pair of pants. I ended up ordering them in two additional colors: Lavender and Mint. I bought the entire outside just as they appear on the website. I bought the same shell reversible top with these pants and they paired gloriously.
The only thing I would mention is this, the color does not appear as it does in this picture. I imagine the lighting for the models is different then that we experience every day. The are a little closer to sea green or teal.
They still match the shirt perfectly tucked in or out. The detailing in the shells is the same color and the stripes at the bottom of the shirt (in this photo you can’t see it because it’s tucked in) is the same color as the pants.
I want to buy these shoes, too!.

The material is amazing on these pants! I love the look and feel. I am 5’4, and the pants are a tad long on me, but will still work! I am between sizes, and went with the larger size. I probably could have went with the smaller one, but would have been a bit snug.
I wish I could have these in multiple colors!.
I love the fit! I however struggle with shoe selection with these pants but otherwise they are amazing. I wore them to work with similar shoes as the picture and it was comfortable but I would like to wear these pants in winter as well and I’m not sure if I will like them with ankle boots or what else to try?! Otherwise I love them!.
I have the older pull up fab fit work pants in 6-8 and love them!! I just didn’t like the look of the zip up – I prefer the smoother look of the flat waist panel. Also, I got a size 8 and should have sized down to a 6.
I still love the fabric and concept and hope G&L makes more fab fit work pants in the pull up style.

I’m at a point in life where age and work schedule no longer permit a regimen worthy of skinny jeans if I want to feel good in what I’m wearing. I’m trim, but the contours that used to fill out clothes nicely ten — even twenty — years ago are flattening.
My go-to pants are Banana Republic size 00P, but they can get expensive. Old Navy 0 Petite pants are affordable, but usually the cuts are huge on me, especially in the waist. I read the review on these pants and — noting the “waist runs small” theme — decided to order two pair.
All I can say from here on out is this: FABULOUS! The elasticized waist (with buttons for adjustment) is super. These pants are waist-cinching, and not too balloon-y around the butt and thighs (no need to wear a thong to avoid panty lines, but also not so much material that you look like an engorged sugar ant.
) The material is nice, too — sturdy and reminiscent of garment-dyed pants I like from J Crew.
I bought these based off them looking like they’d be durable for hard work, and they honestly are. I work as an automotive painter, and these have held up great genuinely working in them. I’m on my knees a lot in a dusty rough shop.
The fabric on these is quality. It gives just enough room and stretch for me to crawl around and do my thing. They are a roomy fit, but I did intentionally size up in them for more comfort. I probably didn’t need to, but no complaints.
These would look amazing in fit if I went with a M/L, and meant to wear them casually (not working). But for my job I went XL to make sure I had no discomfort throughout my day. Kind of want to buy more already, and maybe size down in a pair to enjoy when I’m not working!.
I was beyond impressed on how well this pant was constructed with beautiful details. The fit is amazing for my 5’8 170 curvy shape. I normally don’t buy short inseams but these look soooo much better in regular length than in tall/long.
It actually takes away from the fit when I tried long. I returned for regular. I absolutely LOVE the hi rise waist band bc it cinches in the waist but I think it’s more how the cut of the pain more than just its high rise.
Not all high rises look the same. Totally pleased with the yellow/tan shade but plan to get the grey and green.

I just made the transition from a desk job back to a shipping role and I couldn’t be happier. My muscles are ridiculously happy that I’m paying attention to them again, though I quickly found out the jeans I was wearing at my desk were not going to work while lifting heavy objects from the floor – hello split pants! Yikes! The fabric was so thin I couldn’t even mend them.
Comfortable, but not meant for real work. I immediately began a search for real work pants. I started with the usual suspects. Reading reviews I found out their new “flex” materials often split. One reviewer mentioned Dovetail Workwear and I’m so glad they did! I’m 5’2″ and am heavier than I’ve ever been so I was hoping to find something comfortable that works.
I decided to try the Christa DIY in black and I love them! So comfortable, not confining at all, wonderful fabric that I was sure was going to be too hot but it’s not, and the pockets! Phone, pen, box knife, marker – a place for everything and none of it in my back pockets.
I got the 22/24 hoping they would fit. I was pleasantly surprised to find I probably could have gone a size smaller but they will work just fine. As soon as I can I will also get the Magnet Grey Performance Denim.
Thank you, Dovetail Workwear! The only thing I would change is the addition of more colors.
I loved the material and the features. I thought these pants would be the ultimate weekend warrior house pant. They were everything I was looking for to have the same utility as my absolutely beloved Powerstretch Maven Slims but in a more comfortable, casual look; like yoga pants but more awesome.
First, I’ll say they are all that, for someone with a completely different body type than my short and athletic/thick one. I’m 4’11” so even 28″ inseams are long but I can work with them. One disappointment was that these pants were only offered in a single inseam but I purchased them anyway because I was going to get them tailored if they fit great in every other metric.
Unfortunately, the cut of these pants is just not well-suited to a short person with a short torso. Whereas the Slims fit like a dream, with no sag in the butt and the rise hits between my waist and belly button, these pants just didn’t fit right: I needed to pull them above my belly button to keep them from sagging in the butt but doing so resulted in the waist band rolling down every time I bent over.
I contemplated giving these pants 4 stars, because they are still high quality and have great design details. I ended up giving the Christa’s to someone who is 2 pant sizes smaller than me and 6″ taller, and she LOVES the way the size 10/12 pants fit.
She would have opted for the 6/8 if she had ordered them for herself but she really likes the looser fit, like fitted sweat pants that look way better and have more pockets. In fit testing, maybe they fit a large variety of women well, but in practicality, they are ideally for a body type that leans tall and slim.
I’m choosing to give them 3 stars because they weren’t purchased for someone else in mind. They were intended for ME, and based upon the great way that my Mavens and Day Constructs fit, I was reasonably sure that the Christa’s would also fit me very well.
They don’t, and that is disappointing. Not knocking Dovetail, because Dovetail is by far THE BEST affordable women’s workwear I have found among the small pool of manufacturers that offer actual work clothing for women—but this initial offering of the Christa is a bit of a miss, in my opinion.
If you go back and tweak the cut to give it an improved universal fit, I’d definitely be willing to try them again. I hope this review does not shut down production of these pants but simply provides feedback to improve them.
Thanks for continuing to push boundaries and create fantastic clothing for women who work. Would recommend with caveats.
When I first put these pants on I was in love. I wore them every day for a week. They are comfortable and durable and great for gardening and land stewardship work which is how I spend most of my days.
I love the elasticized waist which stays up and is higher rise than the mavens, protecting by lower back from sunburn when I spend many hours bent over pulling weeds. I was so excited that I even mentioned them on social media, the first and only time I have named an item of clothing I’m wearing through that platform.
As I’ve worn them more, I have discovered that comfy elasticized waistband does have some challenges. After the second washing I discovered that the seam on the side of the waistband was coming undone.
I contacted customer service and they graciously sent me a replacement pair, which does not seem to have that issue, so it was probably just a one-off error. However, both pairs do have some issues with the elastic and drawstring inside the waistband — because they are both just floating inside the knit material without being anchored to the fabric of the pants anywhere, the big wide elastic tends to get folded over and the drawstring can end up bunched up with it or in the wrong part of the waistband.
On the latest washing, the drawstring came most of the way out so that only about 3 inches are left inside the waistband, and I’m not looking forward to the adventure of trying to get it all the way back around inside that big wide space.
Maybe in the next iteration the drawstring could have a channel or something so it’s more contained, and the wide elastic could be sewn to the top of the pants fabric so it stays put also. My only other wish for these pants would be a side pocket on the left below the hammer loop.
I use the right deep pocket for pruners, and in my other Dovetail pants I put my phone in the left side pocket. Since I sit and bend so much the back pocket doesn’t really work for that. The front pockets are deep enough that I can put my phone in there instead, but it’s only secure if I close the zipper so the left side would still be better.
These continue to be my go-to pants and I would definitely recommend them. And I look forward to the next iteration.
Conclusion
Black work pants for women can be both practical and stylish, and the best choice for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. If you are looking for a versatile pair of pants that can be dressed up or down, black work pants are a great option.
If you need a pair of pants that will keep you warm in the winter months, black work pants are a good choice. And if you are looking for a pair of pants that will flatter your figure, black work pants are a great option.
Whatever your needs, black work pants for women can be a great choice.
