20 Best Black Leather Car Seat Restorer (2022 Updated)

It seems to have done a great job covering but instructions are very bad. The jar doesn’t have complete instructions and the paper that came in bag was cut off on the left so missing words. I didn’t know if it would rub off on clothes but so far ok after drying for 24 hours.

Wasn’t sure if a had to seal with something or if that was just optional. It was old sofa so I’m not too concerned.

Exact match for our dark brown leather couches, yes the color will definitely cover up the ‘worn’ areas on the couches…Easy to use and quick drying

This stuff will make you think it works as it destroys your leather. I used it for a few months and now I have a destroyed holster, cracked seats and my jacket and chaps just soaked up 3/4s of a 4oz jar of Obenaufs LP in 14 hours(usually a jar lasts me 5 years or so).

I didn’t realize Chemical Guys was destroying my leather until I used it on some cheap leather straps on a basket and they fell apart in 24hrs. Then I realized ever since I got it I was having to use it weekly.

It must draw every bit of oil in the leather to the surface so it seems great to the touch on the surface as it’s destroying your leather from the inside out. I saw the reviews on Chemical Guys and thought I’d give it a try.

Now I’m trying to desperately save $1500. 00 worth of leather.

This only temporarily darkens leather after application. Does not darken leather permanently. You’ll want to let this dry for a couple hours. Must wear gloves when applying this. Does not leave leather shiny – which it isn’t supposed to.

This only conditions, so do not expect this to clean your leather. Chemical Guys make great products. This shipped directly from them to my home.

I use this product and it works well, leaving a nice look to the seats. But unlike my Jaguars of old, modern leathers have a clear coat on them. Hm? Ya think the products are soaking into the leather? Nope, not unless you’ve worn off your clear coat.

So if you read enough on the internet the most beneficial thing is to protect that clear coat. Any writing on the label about feeding leather is bunk. So what is happening is the product is leaving a nice look on the outside of the clear coat, giving protection to the clear coat and leaving a nice smell.

I’m fine with all that! Then there is the point that not everything on the trim is leather. Hm? What to do about where they meet?? “‘If you look at the fine print on the sticker,” said Mr. Myers of the leather industry group, ”it may be a leather seating surface, but the entire interior of the car is not leather.

” But their product is good. There is a brand that has been around forever that I no longer use because it leaves a sticky residue on the top of the seats. I do want to get the Chemical Guys car leather Cleaning Brush.

From the sites of those that do detail work, the brush helps to produce a good lather when cleaning the top coat.

The black leather driver’s seat in my 31-year-old Mercedes was beginning to show its age, letting down the overall appearance of the car. Clyde’s to the rescue! Twenty minutes or so had it back to almost-new just as many YouTube clips demonstrated.

But where the Clyde’s leather balm really shined was on the leather documents pouch that lives in the glove box. It had multiple white crow’s feet and was looking quite shabby. But again, the Clyde’s leather balm brought it back to near-new.

But the thing that really surprised me was not actually even leather. There is a matt-black painted metal strip trim on the trunk lid that had weathered towards a splotchy off-grey. Figuring I had little to lose, I applied some balm to the trim strip.

Amazingly, the balm worked into the paint surface and produced a sparkling and uniform black! Next is my winter’s day project of restoring eight 45-year-old black leather high-back dining chairs.

I ordered the dark brown. It was a tad darker than the furniture I needed to touch up. However, I don’t think I could’ve found it better elsewhere. My dog licked all the brown off of where your leg goes on a recliner.

Of course, they don’t lick where it is convenient, maybe in the corner or so. She did it smack dab in the middle!! I bought the kit. The stain goes a long way, if you don’t have much to cover. I had maybe the size of a 8 inch baking pan.

The kit has a tiny bottle of the cleaner and the conditioner a bit more. Make sure to get all the shiny wax looking finish off of the leather. It will not soak in. I got it off really well, but was having problems wiping it all off and not soaking in like it should.

So, I used a sponge and dabbed the color all over and then waited a couple of minutes and then wiped it off. I continued to do that until I got the right coverage without creating a demarcation on the leather.

I actually did it right the first time. It was really easy, much easier than anticipated.

The Chemical Guys leather cleaner is an easy to use cleaner which works very well with little elbow work. Spray on a microfiber cloth and wipe on the leather surface and voila the leather is clean. There is more of a difference on lighter leather than darker but the proof it cleans is on the cloth.

The product has very little odour after use and does not have and residual feel after drying. The amount you need to use is very little. I cleaned my Suburban seats and 2 leather chairs and barely put a dent in the bottle.

The only downside to this product is for the need to purchase another product to condition and protect the leather after. I’m not sure if a combination product can be formulated. Overall a great product and I would definitely recommend this to anyone needing a leather surface cleaned in the home or auto.

I actually used this on an old pair of nubuck work boots that were dark and greasy. I sprayed them liberally and used a stiff brush to scrub them, I could see the dirt/grease lifting immediately. once they dried I was blown away as the nubuck looked awesome.

Great product for all leathers. very impressed. Has no odour either. Highly recommend. side note I detail cars as a side job and was skeptical about the chemical guys brand, but this product makes me think twice.

the day after we were at the beach we noticed the rear leather seats were stained white from the sunscreen that had been applied just before the kids got into the vehicle. We panicked a little and since we were heading out again for the day, we didn’t have time to clean it.

My husband bought this for his leather seats but Not gonna lie, I used this on our leather couch. I had wiped it down with some disinfectant wipes (covid) and it made the couch kind of dull. So I took this stuff and sprayed it on and wiped it with a soft cloth.

The couch looked brand new. The leather softened up and was shiny. Smells good too!.

This product as a great product to revive, cekab and condition the car seats. The product was easy to use and was affective the price is great, the brand has been around forever. Some snib their nose at turtle wax products but I am a long time supporter and this product worked.

This cleaner works great! I got some tuff dirt with some kind of sap in it that must have been on my raincoat. Needless to say it transfered from the coat to my leather Jeep seats. I tried soap and water but didnt like the results, the Turtle Wax leather cleaner cleaned it up nice and didnt leave a shiny slippery coating.

I Used this to touch up black leather seats in my xc60. I was worried it wouldnt match exactly since my seats are more charcoal than black black. But looks great! Covered up the worn out spots perfectly ! Cant wait to try this on leather shoes next !.

Another great cleaning product from the chemical guys, does what it says on the bottle followed their YouTube tips & tricks on how to apply now my brand new car leather is shining and vibrant almost better than when the car was delivered.

Used in conjunction with the leather sealant to protect the leather from fading or losing its sheen. Very professional looking finish. Easy to apply. Happy to recommend.

I just got this to use on the leather in my car. It’s rich and smooth, and even cleaning the leather with it was a pleasure. It got the leather looking really clean, and was so rich going on that I didn’t worry about chemicals damaging the seats.

The Lexol got it really clean, and then the conditioner got it super soft and smooth. It looks amazing, and has that deep, inner shine that I love to see on leather upholstery. Interestingly, it’s not super slick as has sometimes happened, and just has a buttery softness.

I feel like I did something really good for the leather, and love the feeling. It has no fragrance or chemical odors, but has a buttery consistency and is easy to apply with the pads that are included.

Oh, and the whole kit comes in a box that will be great for storage, as it’s sturdy and all products fit in nicely. I’m pleased with it and recommend it for pampering your leather.

I had heard about Lexol products since I’m always looking for quality cleaning items for my cars. One car has a light tan leather interior that I noticed looking not so clean anymore so I was looking forward to using this.

I applied the cleaner per the instructions. I only did half the seat so I could compare. I notice the fluid on the seats getting dirty and some small stains coming out. I wiped dry with a clean cloth and compared.

It was noticeably cleaner , but not as much as I had hoped. Perhaps maybe using a light brush may help next time. I then put on the preservative. It came out of the bottle pretty quickly and very freely.

I put it on. It wasnt sticky or very glossy. It looked nice. My only real complaint is that both items were pretty fluid and came out of the bottles pretty fast and liquidy. I was kinda expecting something a little thicker and creamy, especially with the preservative.

This is my first car with leather. I defiantly have a love hate relationship with it. I love the looks of it but I hate the weather restrictions. Its hot in the summer and cold in the winter. You would think it would be easy to just wipe off and go on but its so not! If anything, and I mean anything gets on it, it shows! It gets sticky and runs the majority of time if its hot and freezes if its cold making it instead very hard to keep clean.

So my seats on my otherwise brand new car were looking pretty shabby. In fact, I was just about to buy seat covers to cover them which I really did not want to do! So when this came in the mail, I was never so ready to try it out.

I was truly amazed. My seats looked new again when I was done. Its like they came back to life! They were clean and shiny again. They also seemed softer and smelled good as well. I have zero complaints.

Very satisfied and it will most defiantly be my go to for all my future leather needs.

This is my favorite leather conditioner. I started using it when I had a problem with mold/mildew on a saddle. I?d tried several other products but it kept coming back. One I?d used this it never came back and I?ve never had another piece of leather get moldy.

It?s a little more expensive but it works. Highly recommended!.

I had never used this before, but the reviews were great, and the “Why we love this” on SmartPak’s website was very convincing. But after I bought it and read the label, it said, “This product can expose you to o-Phenylphenol, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer.

” I tried it anyway with mask and gloves, just in case it really was a miracle product. But no, it left my tack terribly gummy and sticky, which did not “simply wipe away with a damp sponge” as instructed.

I had to clean my tack all over again.

After trying to find the best leather care product to care for the leather interior of my Porsche, LEATHER THERAPY was by far the best one, endorsed in most of the online forums for exotic sports cars.

Most recently, I used it to restore the leather on my faded and dried-out Ekornes Stressless recliners and ottomans. If you have dried-out and damaged leather, apply liberally to cloth or fine sponge and really work it into the leather, and give the leather some time to absorb the product and off-gas the fumes.

The fumes are by NO means noxious, but there is a very mild but noticeable, NOT unpleasant scent. A lIttle goes a long way, and it can be a bit runny. Otherwise, you can apply a light coat and reapply if necessary, but it’s better to apply a heavier coat and really work it INTO the fine cracks and grooves in the leather.

As always, try a small area first and see how it does. I love this product, and it’s a lot of fun to preserve, protect, and restore leather–giving it new life!.

Absolutely did the job advertised. I needed an ivory color, and found that the “off-white” was really kind of gray. So, I bought “beige” and managed to mix them together with great success. Perfect match!! (Although, with all the ivory leather out there, I was surprised it didn’t have it’s own color).

Anyway, a little experimental mixing with a Q-tip and gentle application (go lightly – you can always go back after things have dried and do another coat) and, viola! You can not tell where I touched this up.

Dang, I wish I had taken pictures, but you’ll be amazed at how well this works. I was! Sofa looks fab.

I am learning as to use dyes as to re invent leather covered furnishings. At first i did not think that this product would cover some of the leather i was working with, but with a little time and patience, it greatly improved the look of my pieces.

I bought this product to cover some scratches on my couch and some scratches and fading on my car seats. The product is easy to use and dries quickly. It did help the appearance of the scratches where I applied it.

It is a good product for the price.

I bought this product because of a positive review I read about it. So , I got some. This is great stuff. Glad the review was right. Not messy. Brings back original brilliance.

I switched to 3M Leather and Vinyl Restorer over two years ago and couldn’t be happier. I use it for all my vehicles. I have a 21 year old pickup truck and the dash looks like new. Be aware that it leaves a glossy finish, but it looks great.

Please continue manufacturing this product.

The sprayer head arrived damaged. When I pull the trigger to spray, more product drips down the trigger than sprays out the nozzle. The product seemed to be packed well so it is likely this was damaged before it was packed.

FWIW, the product seems to clean well.

This product is amazing. It is easy to apply and gave me a chair that looks like new.

My couch is very dark I feel that I may have got a color that was a little too dark. It did however make my couch like a brand new couch. I will keep it for regular touchups.

It was supposed to be dark gray. It was gray but had a purple cast or sheen. I shook the small bottle for about ten minutes before applying. I also made sure there were no contaminations or unclean surfaces prior to application.

Just got a bad batch. I was disappointed but then again nothing is perfect anyway.

Works very well. Easy to apply. I am very pleased with this product. It came in very timely matter also. Would recommend this product for anyone who has leather furniture to repair.

Rating for Leather Ultra Clean and Leather Protection Cream, see below. The leather I was cleaning was dining chair seats which are over 50 years old. They have been lightly used during their lifetime but to me the leather looked dirty (see photo), forget the stains.

I used the Leather Ultra Clean product as per the instructions and it made no difference! The applicator sponge collected no dirt whatsoever and did not change colour. After initial disappointment I concluded that what I thought was dirt was probably just a change in colouring of the leather due to ageing over the years.

Examples shown on the Furniture Clinic website show fairly new leather with light soiling, not really a very hard test for the product. I feel that more guidance should be given to potential customers who have older leather items since the product in my experience did not work.

Perhaps Furniture Clinic could develop a product that would help clean/renovate leather such as mine. If they could I am sure it would be a good seller. To preserve the leather seats on my chairs I next bought the Leather Protection Cream and used it as per the instructions.

This worked very well in my opinion and significantly improved the condition and appearance of the leather which became more supple to the touch. I am sure this will preserve my leather seats from further deterioration and keep them looking more presentable and show off the attractive patina.

I did initially write a great review because it really does clean the leather brilliantly, however, after a few days of treating the sofa’s with a clean and then a cream conditioner my chalk white sofa’s took on a slight yellow tinge to them.

I contacted the company and sent pictures and they said it could be the quality of leather or the sun or the age of the sofas. The sofas are not in any sun at all, they are less than 3 years old and they were a couple of grand each so I don’t think they are in the low quality leather range.

(a 1 seater armchair, a 2 seater sofa and a 3 seater sofa cost over £5000 so not cheap) Reading other reviews on here, I am not going to pursue the issue with the company, I’m making a claim on my home insurance and they can sort it out between themselves.

I am adamant my sofa’s were chalk white before they were cleaned and conditioned.

All the products offered by Furniture clinic are absolutely amazing. I have not found anything else as effective anywhere, and was more than happy to pay on extra $200 to have them shipped to Canada! The stain removers are particularly effective.

Hands down, the best stuff on the market anywhere.

I’ve tried a lot of leather cleaners and they are all about the same, greasy and smelly. Few people realize that pretty much all leather seats have a synthetic protective coating over the actual leather, so those products that claim to soak into the leather and replenish it are all fake.

That’s why the seats are always greasy until you wipe it off with either a cloth or eventually your own clothes. Sonax knows their stuff, and pretty obviously made this product in consideration of the synthetic coating on leather.

It has a unique smell, which I can’t say I am really impressed with or enjoy. But since it goes away in a day or two that’s fine, the real reason I like this product so much is that it does seem to do a really good job of breaking up and wiping away any mud, scuff, or spill pretty easily.

Then it coats the leather with somewhat of a protective wax that isn’t slippery. It actually helps you stay in place, so if you have leather seats and do AutoX this might even improve your lap times.

In anycase, the wax coating gets kind of buffed in after a few hours of driving and the seats get a really nice protective wax coating that keeps them cleaner for longer and more resilliant to cracks, scuffs, stains, and other blemishes.

My seats have 170k on them and still look like a car that has 50k on it. Favorite product for leather, threw out all my other greasy stuff. no longer needed.

I gave SONAX Leather Foam a try after loving the wheel cleaner. I followed the directions and used on my S2000 seats. While it was easy to use and cleaned it well where it was not slippery and barely tacky to touch, it did leave some uneven marks on the seat (as in I could see the spray pattern).

I may try it again, but for the first round I had to redo it with what was left of my einszett leather cleaner/conditioner that has not failed me yet. I am skeptical about using SONAX on my newer car though.

3 stars for now.

Tried it on a new Tesla X with light tan interior and it made the seats more supple and less slippery. Works and feels really good.

Ok I am a woman with a lot of High end designer purses and I cant seem to find anything that makes the leather pop and shine to its old glory days. Until I came across the Armor All Leather Cleaner spray! It made my 20 year old Designer purse come to life! I seriously cant say enough good things about this spray.

I know its intended for your vehicle, which I do use on the leather and it does protect and shine my leather but I am just over the moon that I can use this product on more than one type of Leather. I love that it adds a layer of protection to your leather.

My seats haven’t been properly cared for in over a year since my car rarely moved. Now that we’re attempting to go outside more I figured it would be nice to deep clean my car and give it proper care.

I did a spot test on the under side of my headrest because I have cream colored seats and didnt want to risk ruining it. It past the test. I used a microfiber cloth, spraying the cleaner directly on it.

The results left my seats buttery soft and moisturized, without feeling greasy. You’d never know my seats were neglected for over a year after cleaning them. This is a cleaner I stand behind.

I bought a used van with leather seats. It needed to be cleaned really badly. This product is a miracle in a bottle for the leather seats and trim. I used a microfiber cloth with the cleaner. I was SHOCKED how much it got the dirt and grime off the leather.

It cleans very evenly. My seats look NEW again!! It feels so nice too! My leather is soft. I does not leave a shine to the leather (which I don’t like shine). The scent is light, but very nice. The leather smell comes back after cleaning all the dirty away.

The wrong cleaning spray was accidentally used on a 1 year old leather sectional. My 1st hope of salvaging the couch was seeing if the manufacturer would sell the chaise portion as an individual piece, however no luck with that.

The next option was recovering. which was quite pricywould take a while! I decided to snag this product on a whim — promising myself I’d test it on a small area prior to giving it a go. Once I saw what the color would come out to, I started by using the provided tiny brush to lightly fill in the spots where color was removed.

This actually didn’t take long — again because I wasn’t trying to color it in enough to perfectly match I knew being patientlayering would be best. I gave this 24 hours to dry, and there were a couple of larger circle areas I needed to lightly color in using the brush again I let that dry maybe 15 mins and then I did a very light coat using circular motions with the round sponge providedcovering the entire cushion piece.

After 24 hours of dry time, I did a final light coating over the entire cushion. It seems to match wonderfully, and it has saved me a ton of money! If you’re good with painting, makeup blending and/or just have the ability to be patient using light coatings because the product does darken slightly after drying.

this product is a 100% recommend! I used the dark brown on a genuine leather couch that I would say is a very true chocolate brown, and the chase portion I doctored looks no different than my entire couch.

We bought this couch 11 years ago and our dog destroyed it. He must have dreamed about running because I woke up to massive scratches on the cushions. For a while I was able to condition it, but he eventually scratched the color off.

I thought the couch was destroyed and I could not replace the cushions because the store went out of business. I planned to buy a new couch but this one was so comfortable, we did not want to give it up.

We resorted to covering the cushions with blankets, which just looked ridiculous. I found this product and was skeptical. I read the reviews, so I thought I would give it a try. I am shock at how well it turned out.

The cushions look like when we first bought the couch. They are absolutely perfect. My only issue now is that I want to do the other cushions and pillows because they look aged next to the refinished cushions.

The photos don’t do this product justice. The color difference in person is not as noticeable as in the photos. The texture of the cushions is like new and they have been returned to the original color.

My family thought I bought new cushions. This product saved us thousands of dollars getting a new couch. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT! It took me just 30 mins to do 4 cushions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!.

I didnt have large areas, just little random areas. You guys please dont ever purchase from badcock!! I wiped the sofa down with plain water and the color came off like a dry erase whiteboard and they said that its my fault and not a MF defect.

Soda set was only a few months old btw! Anyways, I searched,purchased, and returned trying to find the perfect product. I did have to return the first container of this brand as it was too light. This color was perfect and blended the discolored areas away.

I can still see it, but I know where it was and I was actually looking for it. Anyone else wouldnt notice it. It hasnt faded away and its been a few weeks, 2 Christmas parties, and 2 family gatherings.

I’m a fanatic about keeping my car clean, preserving the new look and performance. After trying every automobile cleaning products on the market (used to ve a professional auto detailer) I decided to try Chemical Guys products.

Absolutely THE best I have used to date. The leather cleaner is excellent and the conditioner as well. I do not like that shiny look you get from some interior cleaning/conditioning products. This conditioner maintains the look and condition, actually improves, of the leather like it came from the factory.

I have been using leather products for over 30 years. I have never used anything like this leather cleaner conditioner. It has made my 12 year old leather seats look and feel like new. Even my steering wheel which was faded cleaned up beautifully and now looks like new with the conditioner.

I used a cloth towel rubbed in the conditioner didn’t put a small film over it and it dries beautifully. The weather went from hard and old-looking too soft and like new. This product blows away all competition.

I have used everything from Armor All, McGuire’s, almost all high-end leather cleaner conditioner you can think of. Nothing has come close to this product. It’s amazing and I would definitely recommend everyone trying this.

I just wish it was more readily available. I also have used their cloth top cleaner sealer kit which works amazingly. The chemical guys really have Corner the market with quality cleaners sealers and conditioners.

You can see in the pictures how well it works on 12 year old leather and cloth top. Sorry I did not have the foresight to take before pictures not knowing what the results would be. Thank you Chemical Guys.
