20 Best Bike For 300 Pound Man (2022 Updated)

I was looking to buy 2 bikes (one for myself and one for my husband) for our anniversary. After a lot of research I chose the sixthreezero Around the Block Women’s beach cruiser bike in Mint Green for my bike.

I am 5’5 and find this the perfect size for me. I also experience pelvic pain and this bike allows you to sit upright rather than lean forward like with other bikes. The seat is wide, so it is much more comfortable than most other bikes.

I also like that the handles and seat are black so they do not get dirty like other bikes that have white. The bike was fairly easy to put together – I had never built one before and put it together myself.

I searched youtube for a video and had it together in no time. I took it for a ride but noticed that the rear brake was screeching a lot. I looked up how to adjust the brakes on youtube and tried to make adjustments, but then realized that the incorrect washer was placed on one of the brake pads (see attached photos, the left was correct and the right was wrong).

I contacted sixthreezero customer care and had a good experience with that. I was able to take my bike to a local bike shop and they reimbursed me for the cost the bike shop charged me to brake pads.

I communicated over email with sixthreezero customer care who was very responsive. When I received my bike back from the shop, I realized that they had adjusted my seat, I guess so that they could test out my bike.

My seat was then squeaking, but my husband tightened the bolts, and the squeaking went away! If you have any issues with this bike, I suggest looking on youtube for fixes, the bike most likely just needs to be adjusted, or to contact their customer care, who are excellent.

If you are looking for a comfortable, good quality, nice looking bike, I think you will be happy with this one.

I want to love my bike, and I want to love the company I bought it from, but both fall short. This was one of two bikes I purchased for my daughter and me during the pandemic. Hers was more difficult to assemble (not a sixthreezero bike), but easier to ride.

Mine (the sixthreezero bike) was easier to assemble, but not ready to ride. I may be naive, but at this price point I would not have expected to have problems with braking or the chain falling off. Our maiden voyage was a catastrophe.

The bike is beautiful and mostly comfortable (the design of the handlebars are a little difficult for those with arthritis in their wrists), but I know nothing of bike maintenance and was ill-prepared for having to perform it straight out of the box.

Thank goodness for modern phones and how-to videos (and semi-patient neighbors who tried their best to help). Nearly two years later and it’s still not calibrated correctly which I assume will have to wait until I have some means of transporting it to a professional bike repair shop.

Not what I would have expected, but this was the first (and only) time I’ve ever purchased bikes online, so perhaps I should have been better prepared. I got pulled into this purchase by the fancy marketing.

If I had it to do over again, I would have bought a second, less expensive bike like the one I got for my daughter (Snow Shop Everything New Lusso Classic Cruiser Bike Frame, Women’s). We ordered our bikes at the same time.

Hers arrived quicker and is still riding without any issue nearly two years later. As far as the company, when the bike was delivered, the fancy marketing offered a free bell. I followed the instructions, but never received the bell.

I might add that the only reason I am writing this review is because the company has now emailed me twice, asking me to review their product. I did review it on Amazon after I first purchased it. When they emailed me the first time asking for a review, I shared my experience above and that I didn’t not receive the promised bell.

Now that they’ve emailed me again, promising me rebates for a review, I’m going to air my grievances here. sixthreezero hasn’t responded to any of my emails, but I’ll respond to theirs!.

I decided to splurge and finally get myself a bike so I could get fit during the pandemic. I’d been eyeing these bikes for awhile, because I am out of shape and overweight, I wanted a comfortable bike that I could mount easily.

So I ordered a bicycle for myself and my son. Of course, unfortunately it took quite some time to get the bicycle because of the shortages. However, sixthreezero did right by me by offering a partial refund for the delays.

I assembled my son’s bicycle, which was a bit of a learning curve for me. I recommend reading the instructions AND watching their video. I also screwed up the brakes during assembly but I found some general brake videos and resolved that myself.

It wasn’t too bad. Unfortunately my bike was the one severely delayed and didn’t arrive until the cold weather had set in and after my baby was born. So I opted to take it to a bike shop for assembly, and being brave I decided to bicycle home.

The bicycle shop is about 5 miles from my house. It was tough for me, not having rode a bike in almost 20 years, but I made it! The bike was pretty darned comfortable and easy to ride. I thought I’d be sore the next day, and I wasn’t.

I haven’t had much chance to ride because of my toddler (whom I will soon buy a helmet for and attach the child seat), but the couple occasions I have have been a real pleasure. Just wish there wasn’t such a shocking lack of bicycle racks in the plaza near my house! I also received many compliments on the beauty of the bike.

This machine is very well built. Quiet and comfortable to exercise on. Would recommend to anyone who wants comfort while working out. Love that I can up the tension for when I want to burn more calories and dial it back when I just want to take it slow and easy.

Love the ease of adjusting the seat, I need it set a certain distance as I am short, and my husband sets it further back for his comfort in pedaling. Highly recommend.

Love our new bike! Assembly was not difficult after watching the video on you tube a couple of times. Pedaling is super smooth and quiet as advertised and it is quick and easy to start working out without fidgety electronics to work through.

I like the knob to change the tension, it works really well.

Assembly was straight forward right out of the box. The instructions were clear and all the parts fitted together without any issues. _x000D_ _x000D_ My wife and I needed an exercise bike for our workouts that was quiet and would not take up much space.

Also, we were looking for a simple control panel with basic functions. This bike filled that bill!_x000D_ _x000D_ We are enjoying our bike with it’s smooth and quiet pedaling action. It is a great component to our in-home exercise routine.

Really great bike for the price. I needed something to keep me active while staying at home. It’s sturdy, super quiet, easy to move and takes up very little space. It can be put together without help but having an extra person makes it much easier.

I’m 5’2” and it’s fine for me. Not the most comfortable seat but I use it 30-45 minutes a day with no issue. This won’t compare to a $500+ gym spin bike but if you need something compact to keep you moving this is a fantastic purchase.

The only downside is the Bluetooth doesn’t do anything in my opinion, it seems to only be useful if you pay the subscription fees in the app so I don’t even mess with it. If you’re expecting to be able to connect this to your phone or watch/Fitbit to track your workouts it really doesn’t work for that.

If you have realistic expectations for a compact bike in this price range, you will not be disappointed. I would recommend trying it out.

The Exerpeutic Gold 575 XLS Bluetooth Smart Technology Folding Upright Exercise Bike – is an absolute must in your home. It was very easy to put it together, and most of it came pre-assembled: I got my 10-year-old to help me and everything I needed for the assemble was already in the package; we like working out from the comfort of our home and on our own schedule and we love the fact that the entire family can use this gym bike.

So after all was put together all you need to do is to plug it in and here you go, your own gym bike. It is really easy to use, no noise whatsoever, and I like that you can choose your own level to start with and it takes you gradually to the next level.

And this bike is the best so far: a steel frame that is heavy duty and sturdy; 21 preset workout programs, 3 goal workout settings, a backlit LCD computer which shoes you time/speed/calories burned/distance/pulse/and so far; 400 pounds’ maximum weight capacity, a larger seat than any other bike I have seen, wheels for transportations in case you need to move it, plus it has a small footprint so that one can use this bike even if you live in an apartment.

I am a 200 lb man doing nothing crazy with the bike, just a normal ride, and the cheap, non-steel pedal bolt snapped mid ride, causing my shin to slam into the crank arm. Could have seriously injured myself.

Not only will they not cover it under the warranty (apparently the pedal is not part of the bike, but a part and accessory) but I cannot even purchase a replacement because it is backordered. They will not take one from a complete bike and make my defective bike whole.

Absolutely terrible customer service. I would upload a picture of the defective pedal but it isn’t letting me.

I bought this bike because someone on Twitter recommended it as a super sturdy, super affordable alternative to a Peloton. It has not disappointed. This is a bare bones bike- no lcd screen, no device mount.

What it does have is that 49-pound flywheel, which gives a better “road feel” or whatever, and it has a water bottle cage, which is useful. The bike itself looks sleek, it is compact (only a 4’x 2’ footprint), and with no clunky accessories it looks minimalistic and uncluttered.

To make the bike function as a Peloton alternative I just added a phone mount and a Bluetooth cadence sensor, and it works really well. The bike offers a smooth ride, it’s quiet, it’s highly adjustable, and it doesn’t take up much space in my house.

My two minor complaints are that I can’t ever get the seat tightened enough (maybe -probably- my fault), and, I’m unable to find a hand weight rack accessory to buy for this bike; it’s the last mod I want to make and so far only Etsy sellers seem to have any (and even those are sold out).

So, Sunny, can I get a hand weight rack for this thing? That’d be great. Otherwise, I love the bike and use it almost every day.

I purchased this bike brand new from someone on FB market. It was NEW, assembled at REI bike techs. I have spent copious amounts of money trying to fix this bike. It just has so many issues, mostly due to how it’s made.

The gears are cheaply made and it causes the chain to slip because the gears aren’t accommodating the chain mechanism. I’ve taken this bike to several bike shops to have it fixed and they are unable to fix it without completely redoing and installing new gears, and chain, and chain mechanism.

It’s honestly a waste of money. You’re better off investing a few more hundred dollars in a bike brand name than to mess around with something like this bike that’s so cheaply made. I feel bad writing this review but it is honest and I think people should know what they’re getting into.

Retrospec customer service was quite unhelpful when I reached out in regards to helping me find parts that needed to be replaced claiming that the bike shops I’d taken the bike to were incorrect about their diagnosis.

Ok but still the bike is unridable, help me ride this product that you sell. I’ve spent about 500 on this bike total at this point purchasing it and getting it fixed up at bike shops, buying parts for it etc.

REI won’t buy it, nor will Play it Again Sports, nor will any other of the 5 local bike shops I tried selling it to in Seattle. ALL of them said that the brand wasn’t something they were able to sell in their stores- especially with the gears needing to be redone it would cost them more to fix it then they would get selling it.

Aside the gears and chain, the physical materials this bike is made out of are so cheap. The break handle completely fell apart in my hand the first time I tried riding it. The lever broke in half. This is not due to assembly error but it’s just the material / poor design.

This bike looks so cute and seems like it would be great but the mechanism for the gears does not accommodate the chain system which is what is causing the chain slipping that SEVERAL other reviews are mentioning.

I hope this review is helpful for the less experienced bikers like myself. Just go to a Sporting Goods store and talk to someone in the industry. Simply look at the amounts of listing on FB Market of people trying to get rid of these bikes in your area.

Let me start by saying I’m no bike aficionado but I’ve ridden my share of bikes recreationally over the years. I’m 61 and this bike is great! Came well packaged and was easy to put together. It’s lighter weight than I expected and it’s really a simple, elegant riding machine.

The fact that it’s only one gear makes it a smooth, quiet ride (no derailleur or chain noise). And even though it has skinny tire, the ride isn’t harsh at all (but I only ride roads and pavement). The seat is comfortable for a bicycle seat.

It I want cushy, I get off my bike and sit in my recliner. I debated what size to get and after reading the reviews decided on the medium even though I’m 5’10”. I’m glad I did. The upper crossbar fits comfortably under my 32” inseam.

I got the Slate color and the black rims and brown seat and grips look classy. It’s a good-looking, simple, elegant ride and fir $299 I don’t think you can beat it.

I got this bike to commute to and from the gym and run short errands. I was not expecting to have so many issues. The bike owners manual they give you is very general. They give you the same manual no matter which bike you get.

I’ve had multiple flats after only 2-3 miles of riding. The manual does not provide information on how to fix this issue. It just says take it to a shop. After more inspection it seems the rim tape is not covering spoke holes and my tube keeps going flat in the same spot.

Perhaps I caused the issue and this is all user error, but I’ve been really unhappy with the bike. I was expecting something more beginner friendly and perhaps some more resources. I’d recommend not setting up the bike yourself and taking it to a shop.

Just keep in mind the costs on top of the purchase price before buying.

I bought this 6 months ago to replace an older chain-driven exercise bike which had broken after many, many years of use between several owners. I’ve used it daily since then. For the price, I think this bike is a fantastic value.

As others have said, the position of the pedals is further forward than with a traditional bike; standing while riding it will be out of the question. Because the resistance mechanism is magnetic this bike is extremely quiet and you can very easily watch TV, listen to music, etc.

It also provides plenty of resistance, riding on setting 3 or 4 for a while gives me enough of a workout. There’s a big resistance jump from setting 2 to 3 though, so if you’d prefer something between those two you’re out of luck.

I’m about 5’10’ tall and have no issues with this bike, but if you’re significantly taller you might have issues (your knees may bump against the handlebars). If the bike is something you’d use only once in a while, it folds away nicely for easy storage and can be wheeled around (although it’s unwieldy, it’s not heavy).

I tend to ride about 15-20 minutes at a time and the seat has given me no problems. Be aware that I’ve repeatedly read that it’s a non-standard seat size so you may not be able to swap it out. Assembly wasn’t too bad, but to remove some of the stickers on the pedals you’ll need to use a product like Goo-Gone because they’re not really meant to come off.

I don’t use the pedal straps but they feel a bit cheap and seem to be a common point of failure from reviews I’ve read, so if having straps is important to you that may be a deal-breaker. The other thing on the bike I’d say could definitely be improved is the computer console.

The calorie reading seems extremely unreliable (it seems to be the same regardless of resistance setting) and the console itself feels cheap and hollow (because it is). The other functions work fine.

The numbers on the console are big and easy to read, though the unit is not backlit. – This bike doesn’t plug in. The computer is battery-powered (2 AAA). The bad – Cheap-feeling computer console – Not for extremely tall users (5’10” and under is definitely fine) The ugly – Cheap pedal straps; don’t buy this if you care about them – Calorie counter seems inaccurate.

This exercise bike is in every way perfect to get enjoyable workouts. It is compact by just removing a pin and pushing it into the 2nd hole so that nothing flops around when you move it on the wheels on the front.

The wheels don’t touch the ground until you tilt the bike so it is steady when you are riding it with all 4 round rubber pads on the ground. The quiet noise level when working out is the most enjoyable experience as I can watch movies (old Maverick cowboy movies) with the sound not turned up.

The peddling motion is really smooth and the readings are easy to read and I can keep my pulse rate right where I want it to be. It takes up very little space when stored up right and is easily moved and fairly light.

It takes a 270 lbs man riding easily with no problem. The cost was lower than expected for this quality of a bike. The seat is adjustable for 5′ 1″ to 5′ 7″ or 5′ 7″ to 6′ 2″. My son in law is 6′ 2″ at 270 lbs and it works perfect for him.

However, this adjustment is not quick as you have to unscrew 3 screws. The work load is also very easy to change with small incremental increases while you are peddling.

We had been eyeing to replace our 20 year old exercise bike since March 2020 and when this bike went on sale we jumped to make the purchase right away. In summary, we should have bought this back in March as this bike is a big upgrade from our old one which was so noisy.

This bike was very straightforward to assemble–there are Youtube videos that you can watch that was quite helpful for the assembly process. The electronic display on the bike is very easy to read and the heart beat pulse sensor was very close to my finger heart pulse reader i have.

We leave the bike resistance on level 6 and we have over 400 miles of use (based on the odometer reading) and for the price i don’t think there is any other exercise bike on the market that can match this (and we did over 3 hours of research on other possible bikes).

Can’t believe how little noise this bike makes–what a difference 20 years can make in technology!.

I purchased this bike based upon the other reviews about build quality. I was looking for something that would be lightweight enough to move around easily while being built to last longer than a month, and this doesn’t disappoint! The onboard computer is basic but works well enough – honestly if you’re buying this for advanced options look elsewhere, but this was a very minimal part of my decision as I use my watch to track my fitness measurements so the bike could not even have this component and it wouldn’t matter.

I like that the tension is independent of the computer so if it were to break the bike should still be fully functional. Easy assembly, just follow the instructions like any piece of IKEA furniture and you’ll be fine; assembled within 30 minutes by myself.

The only reason for the 4 stars on this product is the seat positioning (or lack thereof). You can easily adjust the seat height but you’re limited to two options for positioning the seat forward or back (and it’s based upon three bolts under seat that really aren’t that different to begin with).

If I could slide the seat with more ease and to different positions this would easily be a 5 star product. Honestly for the price and sturdiness you can’t beat this product. After using for a couple weeks everything is working great and nothing seems remotely loose.

I won’t use the folding feature but it being light enough to move around, even without the wheels, is definitely a big plus.

I must say, I’m very impressed with this bike! It took me about 30 minutes to assemble and I’m a relatively small, 5’3”, 135 lb female, so it’s not impossible, even with minimal instructions. Prior to purchasing this I was researching a fancy brand in the $2k price range but couldn’t justify the price tag, even with the fantastic marketing it gets.

As a former spinner, I have some pretty specific preferences and this one checks all the marks: easily adjustable tension levels, a comfortable seat for extended rides, flexible and adjustable straps over the feet and ample arm rests for extra support on those high tension spikes.

I have achieved a spin class quality workout with this baby right here and I didn’t pay a fortune nor did I have to go to a sweat slathered gym!.

I was really looking forward to getting this exercise bike, as I have trouble walking due to a disability and riding a bike is easier for me. The description said the bike was made for riders between 5’1″ and 6’5″.

I am 5’2″ tall and can BARELY reach the pedals, so that it makes sitting on the extra large seat really uncomfortable. I actually tried putting my walking shoes on AND strapping on another pair of walking shoes to try and make me sit better on the frame.

It did boost me up an inch or two, but then my feet quickly became tired trying to stay in the two pairs of shoes and the pedals. Sadly, I couldn’t adjust the seat down, only up. I do like the smooth pedaling and how easy it is to adjust the tension, making it either easier or harder to pedal.

The Mode button lets you select and lock on to the particular function you want; such as, TIME: your total workout time will be shown; SPEED: this shows your current speed during your workout; DISTANCE: this shows the distance you ‘travel’ during your workout; CALORIE: this shows the calories burned; PULSE: placing both hands on the metal part on the handle alows the heart rate sensor to measure the number of beats per minute; ODOMETER: shows the accumulated workout distance and then SCAN: this display scrolls through Time, Speed, Distance, Calorie, Odometer, and pulse every 4 seconds.

If there isn’t a signal (you aren’t doing anything on the bike) for 4-5 minutes, the LCD display automatically shuts off. This display takes two AAA batteries that are included. NOTE: This wasn’t in the booklet, but I figured out that I could clear the previous session numbers by pressing and holding the ‘MODE’ button until I could see all zeros.

If space is a problem, then you will love how the bike folds for storage. When open, the bike is about 2 feet wide by 3 1/2 feet long, and when closed for storage, the bike is about 2 feet wide by 2 feet long.

The instruction booklet listed dozens of parts, but a lot were already used for the “some assembly required”. Out of 89 listed parts, I only had to deal with 26 parts. It was fairly easy to put together, even when the booklet didn’t list all the steps.

For instance, after putting the pedals on the bike, it doesn’t tell you how to install the straps. You have to go to the end of the of the booklet under ‘adjustments’ to find out how to install the pedal straps.

Also, on page 12, step 4, it talks about connecting the hand pulse sensor (9a) with hand pulse sensor wire (79), then connect the computer wire (9b) with sensor wire (37) and then it says to see Pic E.

But there is NO Picture E! It only goes to Pic C. Also, on picture C, it shows 2 connecting wires for (9a) going to 2 connecting wires for Hand Pulse Sensor Wire (79). BUT, there is only ONE wire of both (9a) AND (79)!!! Some of the wires were already connected, so that could be part of the issue.

One last thing I would wish for while using this bike, is more detailed instructions on actually using the bike. Yes, I know. It’s just an exercise bike! But when it comes with all the bells and whistles, I want to know how to use those bells and whistles so that I can enjoy the bike to the fullest.

Also, the description of this exercise bike claims it has a 400-Pound Weight Capacity, but on the bike itself is a sticker that says the maximum weight capacity is only 325-Pounds!.

I bought this as a replacement for my (ancient) Garmin 510. The 520 Plus that I bought was a refurbished item. But it looks brand new and unused. So far, I have been using it like a 510. I’m currently using it with basic info – power, speed, cadence, HR, time, and distance.

There are so many new features on the 520 Plus compared to the old 510 that I haven’t used them yet. Currently, the new feature that I’m using is the power FTP data. Also like seeing the full recovery time it will take after a workout.

There are still many things to see and use with this unit. I’m very happy with the purchase and the features of this unit.

The 520+ Edge arrived fairly quick, the setup was a little clunky but that could be related to Connect. Other than that the Edge operates pretty like my 520. Battery life appears to be much longer but haven’t been for a ride over 50 miles since receiving the 520+.

The battery gauge did not go anywhere near 50%. It’s just as accurate any of my previous Garmin GPSs. As of now I haven’t any ANT or navigation operable, save those for warmer weather. The package included all accessories for mounting the 520+, all that is need is a screen cover and protective case.

Easy in use & the remote isn’t a gimmick although best used on flat bars (not roadie!). Need to take care with Garmin suggested routes as not always suitable for road bike as I found (yes, I was using correct profile!).

Once you get the hang of it & plot (carefully) your own routes it’s brilliant & syncs easily with Strava. Bluetooth to phone was a bit weird & seems best if you put head unit to sleep rather than ’off’.

Wifi good feature. Overall you won’t be disappointed – you really do get what you pay for.

This bike is perfect for what I needed. A friend recommended Sunny to me, and I was especially interested in the folding bikes because I have limited space. It folds up like an ironing board and uses nothing more than a tight corner for storage.

My only dislike is that the seat back kind of impedes the full usage of the seat, moving you up more toward the edge of the seat, which can become a bit uncomfortable for long rides. I improvised a simple fix by removing the bolts for the seat back bar.

There’s no back now, but for me, it’s made the bike so much more comfortable!.

I am very happy with this bike. Easy to put together. Great Price. Has been rated high on top 10 list of stationary bikes. Love the gell seat & back & the 10 settings for resistance. I’m 73 & find it’s perfect , especially with COPD, to help me with balance issues.

Best Present to myself to help with breathing issues & balance. If I could, I would give this a lot more stars.

It took me a while to warm to this, and my opinion of it has improved, but it still remains less easy to use than the old Edge 800 it replaced. I thought that it would be sufficient for my needs and I was aware that it didn’t have a touch screen but I didn’t anticipate how much downgrading from a touch screen on the Edge 800 to no touch screen on this Edge 530 would affect the experience.

It is much more clunky to use which is shocking compared to a 9 year old piece of tech! You are very reliant on the Garmin Connect phone app for a start. If you need to reprogram a workout you cannot do this on the Edge, you have to do it on the Connect app then transfer the workout to your Edge.

This is okay and I can get used to this. However navigation has become totally diabolical on the new Edge. Being able to search by postcode and house number as on the Edge 800 has been removed and instead you have to use three buttons to browse a map of the entire UK to manually locate your destination then save it.

That requires me to look up the location on maps on my phone, then try to replicate the location on the Edge using / buttons and button (north/south, east/west, zoom in/out>. This is all but unusable when you’re out and about and is barely acceptable sat at home with plenty of time to phaff about.

These days a touch screen should be considered mandatory on all GPS cycle computers. Garmin has totally dropped the ball on this and I fell for it. I wish I had spent more money for the Edge 830. Still, the stats and advice on training it provides are new and helpful, and the new layout of the workout screen is excellent especially on the road where you can’t spare more than a glance to see if you’re in the correct training zone.

If you’re interested in recording a lot of data and getting insight into your training then this is good enough, but if you do any navigating as well then don’t even both with it; you would look at the Edge 830 instead, or a non-Garmin alternative.

Garmin bike computer was recommended to me to assist in tracking my progress and keep an eye on my heart rate. This device excels at this and so much more. I’m beyond happy I invested in this product.

The 530 is easy to use, easy to read with its color display, lasts a long time on charge, and is the perfect workout partner. I’m simply amazed with all the safety features and data it logs and creates.

The sensors that attach to bike were easy to install and the heart rate chest strap is comfortable to wear. I have multiple medical issues including end stage renal failure, lupus, and leukemia. I have had spinal fusion surgery and had a hip replaced.

Biking is one of the only aerobic activities I can do. I use livetrack when I ride so that my wife can check on me and where I’m at. I have alerts setup in the event of an accident to contact three people incase I crash and need assistance.

I get real time information to know when my heart rate is being maxed out. I love being able to compare my bike rides and see where I’m improving. I usually ride unusual random directions in my neighborhood and now I can know exactly the distance I ride each time, the speeds I achieve, cadence levels, and what elevation heights I achieve.

I’m impressed with the entire family of garmin products and how they all tie into garmin connect. The data graphs and formulated beautifully and everything is logged in an impeccable manner. I have since purchase, added a tactix 7 watch and garmin s2 scale.

I intend to add the taillight with radar soon. There might be other players in the bike computer game but I am more than confident that I made the best choice. The other guys have some catching up to do in GPS accuracy and reliability.

Garmin is well established and well respected and its well deserved.

I bought the Schwinn 270 to use during total knee replacement recovery. It has worked almost flawlessly for my purposes (see below for my only complaint, and it is minor). I picked this up at a very nice sale price, so the value was exceptional.

The unit was not too hard to assemble alone, but would be easier if you had another set of hands. The bike works very well and has several programs to chanllenge you. The heartbeat monitor is a nice additional feature that is finicky at times, but that doen’t really matter to me.

Although the phone/tablet associated app from Schwinn is completely useless, but download “Explore the World” app, which works via bluetooth with the Schwinn 270. My only MINOR complaint. This particular recumbent exercise bike is rated very highly for “tall people”, I do find that at 6’5″ with a 35 inch inseam I am at the maximum limit of this model’s ability.

Although, I don’t think height is as important as leg length – if you have long legs, even at the furthest setting you might be a little cramped. I know that I wish there was just one or two more inches of movement.

But it is still perfectly usable for me at a 35 inch inseam, any longer might be a bigger issue. And that is my only complaint. And lastly, but this has nothing to do with the product itself, I was very upset and disappointed that the box upon arrival looked like FedEx dragged the product behind the truck instead of being ON the truck.

FedEx had put what looked like an entire roll of packing tape on the box to cobble it back together, without which the product would not have stayed in the box. It was incredible all the parts were still in the box, and nothing inside was damaged, considering the amount of damage the box and packing material had suffered during shipping.

It was incredible! Bravo to Schwinn for packaging the product well enough for the outer box to sustain SIGNIFICANT damage while keeping the product in tact; also for putting the display in a secondary box with a ton of packing material around it.

This is my fourth Schwinn exercise bike, and my second Schwinn 230. The purchase, delivery, and assembly (which I paid for) all went smoothly. It works fine, but all of the design and metrics have all changed markedly from the previous model.

Schwinn has reduced the number of resistance levels from 20 to 16, although that is not the bad part. The bad part is that the lower resistances are much more resistant than they were in previous model.

The current level 4 resistance is as hard as the previous level 8. On my previous model, I did most of my workout between level 9 and level 13 but now I do it between levels 3 to 6. I am not saying this is wrong or bad, but it is a remarkable change.

I am relatively certain few people will use the upper levels. I am also relatively certain the Schwinn design staff does not ride the bike extensively, in that design decisions seem to be made by a committee of bean counters.

Schwinn has still not responded to the perpetual requests for a backlight on the screen and they have done away with the second timer, which could be set to count down any time you set up to an hour.

There is also no numerical indication of what resistance is set. You can tell it graphically in the way it has been done in the past, but it is certainly less clear, particularly in the higher resistances.

Some descriptions say that this has a padded seat, but that is not correct. It has a plastic seat that gets a fair amount of complaints, although I cut up a memory foam pillow and it works fine for me.

And, it has to be said that the heart beat monitor is wildly inaccurate, much worse than previous models. To complete the ways Schwinn has tried to save money, the audio input, the teeny fan, and the little speakers have been tossed aside, as have the audio input and USB power.

None of those were crucial to the experience, but I used them all, low quality that they were, particularly fan and speakers. They have also raised the price well over what it used to be sold for five years ago.

Currently you can get this from Walmart, as I did, and a handful of other sellers, with all prices similar. It has not been available from that famous mail order seller for most of the last few months, but is currently listed, at same price as Walmart.

You may wonder about my complaining, but the new bike works smoothly and quietly, and is fairly durable. My previous one lasted over five years (and was falling apart, bolts breaking, pedals falling off) and over 17,000 imaginary miles, with about 1200 workouts.

that’s about $0. 35 per workout, although the bike’s price has jumped up in the last five years. You pay more and get less. In any case, my dealings with Walmart were sterling, including assembly. Wish me luck on the next few years worth of workouts.

For the money, it’s a good recumbent exercise bike. Both my husband and I are in our very late 60’s and plan to use it. I like the angle of the seat because it takes significant pressure off my lumbar spine and hips like an upright bike would.

I have L4 L5 spinal degeneration and Pseudogout in both hips so the recumbent style is best for me. Since the bike is recommended for seniors, I thought the seat and back cushions would be a little more comfortable, but they’re only okay.

I figure I can put a pad on the seat if need be. It took the two of us about 1. 5 hours to put the bike together. My husband mostly used his own assembly instincts and I checked his work against the instructions and a couple of brief on-line videos.

We messed up on the tension control knob the first time but got it right the second time. We checked our work using both the included instructions and an on-line video that shows how to install the tension control knob.

It would have been easier to understand if the video would have mentioned that once you have correctly seated the tension control cable, you need to remove the black clip, but no such clip was visible in the video and there was no mention of it.

The written instructions DO come with that particular instruction and a diagram of the part, but doesn’t describe it as black; just shows the shape of the clip. Still, the expanded diagram of that particular spot on the bike is very helpful.

One of the bolts on the rear main frame would not screw back into that part well so my husband said he would buy a new one to replace it. Somehow some of the threading got stripped. One of the other bolts on the same part had been installed so tightly that he had to place a narrow piece of pipe of ours over the provided allen wrench in order to remove it.

Correctly assembled, I am only able to start out with a tension level of “2”. It’s been 3 months since I’ve been able to use any type of bike due to acute hip injury so will take a while to work back up to where I want to be.

If need be, we’ll readjust the tension control knob innerds again. You don’t have to take the whole bike apart to do that. Overall we recommend this Exerpeutic 1000 rebumbent bike. I’d give it a “5” except for the less-than-optimal comfort of the seat.

If it’s recommended for seniors, the manufacturer should consider senior needs. If it’s too uncomfortable to exercise, a senior won’t exercise as long as they could/should. I’d be willing to pay more for a cushier seat at least.

It would also be nice if the seat could be adjusted up and down. When I ordered it, I thought it could be adjusted up and down (senior moment), but was disappointed to learn that it could not be adjusted up and down (for my 6’3″ hubby).

So if you’re on a fixed income and have a bit of “assembly know how”, this bike is worth it. If you don’t have the “assembly know how”, you can pay $89. 00 for it to arrive already assembled-keep in mind the “experts” could also assemble it wrong.

Cons; As another review pointed out, seat could use a little more padding. Seat adjustment lock is difficult to get to and would be a challenge for a multi user household. Control panel could use back lighting.

Pros; For the price, VERY well made. Welds are excellent! It was a snap to put together with all but six of the required screws and bolts already in place. Seat adjustment operation is as smooth as butter and has a lot of range to accommodate different sized users, to bad the adjustment is so cumbersome.

A pin lock would a great improvement on the seat adjustment. The tension range is great in the fact that there is a wide range of adjustment. Tension adjustment works smoothly also. Operation is very smooth and quiet.

No need to turn the tv up. Great exercise bike. So you know where I’m coming from, I’m 6′ tall with a 33″ inseam, 185 #, back round in machining, manufacturing and design. Enjoy!.

In general I like my new bike. I like it’s look and it rides well. The gearing is smooth and responsive. I have spent a lot of time trying to find the right bike. I mistakenly believed I was supporting an American company but was dismayed to see the ‘Made in China’s sticker prominently displayed and the frame.

Also the bike came with a seat clamp that didn’t clamp because the fastener was wrong. The bolt provided was cheap and easily stripped out. I didn’t call customer service because it was after 5PM PST and I wasn’t going to wait until the following Monday so I went to a local bike shop and didn’t $17 on a quick release clamp instead.

Also while there I had to purchase a front reflector because the one that came with the bike didn’t have anywhere to connect or any fastener to connect with. The illustrations in the assembly instructions showed different parts so they were no help either.

Lastly the brakes were not aligned, tuned or tightened correctly so I had to spend quite a bit of time fiddling with them. The instructions say to take it to a bike shop to make sure the brakes are correctly assembled.

So in addition to the cost of the bike, the first thing I have to do is buy parts and pay a bike tech to assemble and tune the brakes? That doesn’t seem right to me. After an inauspicious start though, I am generally pleased.

**Update** Customer Service is great! Cheryl with was very prompt to respond to my email and is going to send a new seat. My only complaint is the seat has a small rip in it. I am contacting the company today to see about getting a replacement.

I will update my review with the outcome. We purchased this bike as a retirement gift for our receptionist. She loves to ride bikes with her husband but has trouble with her hip hurting and can’t ride for very long.

She was beyond ecstatic when we gave it to her. She loves ALL things pink so the color was perfect!.

These bikes are great. We bought two (Malibu Beach and Newport Beach) of the X-Treme E-bikes from Upzy to take with us when we travel in our Motorhome, but they have been so much we are riding them almost every day around town.

We ride them to the local eateries for lunch or dinner and even though they are electric we find ourselves pedaling most of the time but when a little rest is needed the pedal assist kicks in nicely or I can just sit back and turn the throttle to go without any pedaling.

I also find myself using them for short trips to the store for small items rather than driving, and with all of the bike lanes on the roadways and provided bike parking at the stores, it is often quicker than driving and I get a little exercise to boot.

Now I can be more truthful when my primary care physician asks if I exercise regularly. I use a smart phone app to check the distances and speeds that I travel and surprisingly even with occasional strong head winds and hills it is very close to the numbers advertised.

The company has been very helpful with addressing my questions and I have always been able to speak to a live person when calling. In fact I called them before I received the bicycles and ask if they could send me out an owner’s manual in advance and before I got off the phone a PDF copy was in my inbox.

They have also been very responsive by email answering technical questions and a couple of small warranty issues sending replacement parts, no questions asked. Packaging of the bicycles could be better, but in spite of the looks of the boxes upon arrival, there were only minor scuffing on the bicycles that were easily buffed out.

So far we are very happy with our purchase and believe these are well worth taking a look at if you are interested in buying an electric bicycle.

Perfect Urban and Trail Bike I replaced a Trek Lynx with the Cannondale CX1 mainly for the front suspension. During my last ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail the ride on the Trek was so rough without front suspension that I vowed to replace it as soon as I got home.

I had to buy it online because none of the local bike shops in the state had anything in inventory, nor could they give a reasonable estimate of when they might be able to get one from Cannondale. So I was a bit anxious about buying this without trying it out first, but my fears were unwarranted because with the very first ride I knew this bike, Size L, was the perfect frame geometry for me.

I’m 5’10”. It’s a very smooth and fast ride. The frame geometry is remarkably superior to the bike this replaced. Peddling is virtually effortless on this bike and I ride about 20% faster with the same amount of effort as on the bike it replaced.

I ride on city streets and hard-pack gravel trails, and this bike is perfect for both. I love that with the flick of a switch I can lock the suspension down and stiffen the ride if I want to peddle hard.

The hydraulic disc brakes work well wet or dry and require virtually no maintenance. As for peddling, my only complaint about the CX1 is that the stock pedals are garbage. They are heavy, slick, and don’t spin without a lot of effort.

I replaced them with a set of Cyclespeed MTB 3 Bearing aluminum pedals. This is the only flaw in an otherwise perfect bike. The Cannondale Wheel Sensor paired with the Cannondale App is an added bonus that eliminates the need to add a cyclometer! Paired with a smartphone, you can map out every ride and capture speed, cadence, distance, altitude, time, and even see a google map of your route.

Very cool I also love that it is purpose built for fenders and other accessories.
