20 Best Batteries For Minn Kota Trolling Motor (2023 Updated)

Thank you Wal-Mart. I got two if this batteries for my kayaks. Ive used it two times and they are working great. I was out on the lake and used the trolling motor to get around for about four hours and only used up about ten percent of the battery.

It’s light weight so I can carry it.

having purchased a dozen or so inexpensive SLA motorcycle batteries over the years, it can be a crap shoot. this one arrived quickly at full 12. 74V charge and certainly seems to have the rated 190CCA capacity.

immediate effortless starts on the ’83 GR650 i recently built with the charging simplicity of lead acid. this 8. 6AH model is relatively compact also and about 6lbs instead of 9 for a 14AH battery. so far so good.

have had these hooked into a solar battery bank for several months, no problems yet! same price as purchasing from mighty max

The top should have been designed with latches to secure top to bottom–even when you cinch up the single strap as tight as possible the lid is not tightly secured to the bottom. Then when you lift it by the handle the strap loosens a bit and the ends of the top flex and top is then no longer tight to the bottom.

It makes carrying the battery feel very insecure and makes you think the bottom with the battery in it could drop off at any time. It needs latches, not just the single strap Otherwise, happy with the design and function.

This is a decent power center, especially for the price. You get circuit breakers, 12V outlets, an on-demand power gauge, well built wing nut posts, and nice internal cabling to hook to the battery. I am much less happy with the fact that it doesn’t come with a good locking mechanism.

The cloth strap doesn’t stay very tight, and carrying it with a heavy battery definitely makes the lid come off a bit every single time. You should develop a custom latch system, but the plastic may be too flimsy to handle years of repeated carrying, unless you’ll always leave this box in place.

Get it if you want something quickly that has a good feature set for a pretty good price.

I am a woman raising two young granddaughters, and we do a lot of camping. I needed a power solution because there is usually no electricity, and I needed something that would simplify this whole electrical process which I barely understand – and I should mention that I really hate having to mess with electricity, I have had a couple unpleasant experiences.

I have a boyfriend who occasionally comes along camping, but I am on my own to rig and operate this stuff when he’s not around. I have a marine battery for a trolling motor, but also use it for powering car and phone and tool chargers, lights, and a small air compressor.

All these items seemed to need circuit breakers and specific hookups, and I was feeling overwhelmed trying to figure out how to adapt it all to a campsite – plus I always have that fear of electricity in the back of my mind.

My boyfriend told me about these battery boxes, and I read a lot of reviews and specs and finally chose this one. I am so happy, it has really changed everything for me. My boyfriend installed my battery inside the box for me – the inner cables are included, and they hook up to the battery terminals.

Then the lid is closed and that is really the last of having to deal directly with the battery. The outer box has all the accessories I need, plus the required circuit breakers are built in to the box and it really eliminated a lot of confusion and worry for me.

I really like that there is a built in meter on the lid – I press a button and the meter reads how much charge the battery has left. There are two cigarette lighter outlets on the side of the box, and I can plug in the phone chargers and air compressor.

We have a 12ft inflatable boat, and though we have somewhat adapted the floor, I always worry about the battery tipping over or getting wet when we bring it along for the trolling motor. Now I just bring the box with the battery in it, and only have to hook up the motor wires to the outside box terminals – which somehow are not as intimidating to me as hooking up straight to the battery.

My boyfriend recently gave me an inverter, and I can now hook it up and have regular plug electric receptacles – heaven! I also have a car battery charger that I can hook up to the outer box terminals when I want to charge the marine battery.

The box is quite durable plastic, handle so far is alright, but the battery inside is so extremely heavy that I usually grasp the side handles to move it. I have grabbed the handle and dragged the battery box short distances, and the box does fine despite my abuse, but I am not sure the nylon strap that runs around the box will last for a long while.

I think if it was much wider it would seem more stable. I have had a lot of campers and boaters stop when they see my battery box, they have a lot of the same questions I had, and every one of them go away impressed with all the functions, swearing they are going to go buy one for themselves.

This box has made electricity not so terrifying for me, enables me to power all sorts of devices, and has made camping so much more comfortable.

Battery arrived in good condition and on time. After a top up charge the battery tester showed a CCA about half and a price of about double of the original flooded Deep Cycle battery. No specifications except 100 Ah for the new battery.

Unknown warrantee? Only time will tell what performance is really like.

This heavy little power block is awesome! I bought it to power my minn kota edge 45 lb thrust and it gets the job done with no problem. Supplies plenty of power and I never worry about running my motor all day long if I need to!.

I use a 55AH for my trolling motor another 55AH to power my electric winch on my boat trailer and I just purchased a backup 35AH for the trolling motor so I don’t have to worry about how many hours I am out fishing.

I keep the batteries charged with Battery Tenders. The one for the winch I just leave in the back of the jeep and the charge lasts all season. These batteries are small and powerful. Treat them right and they will give you years of trouble free use.

These batteries are great. Lots of power and easy to install. Only issue is that I bought this 2 pack and received two different batteries. They were the same size but the handles were different Not a big deal but when you buy them together you want them to match for installation purposes.

Batteries included the bolts/washers/nuts. Would def buy again.

This is a 35 amp battery and is not big enough to run a golf cart. My cart requires a 155 battery. I purchased this because it is listed as a golf cart battery. I did not notice the 34 amp disclosure.

When I received them I noticed how small they were and got permission to return them. I had to pay shipping and a 15% surcharge. Do not buy these batteries!.

I bought two of these batteries to replace the dead ones for an electric wheelchair and they have provided STELLAR service so far! Plenty of energy and reserve so they need not be charged after every single use.

However, I do suggest they not be used to depletion before charging so as to not damage them. I cannot attest to how they would perform in any other device but if what I’ve experienced in MY usage, I can heartily recommend these batteries.

My only caveat is I cannot say how durable they will be or exactly how long they will remain serviceable over time.

The batteries came a day early. They were charged and after installation the power chair was ready to go. When these batteries wear out I would reorder them without any questions.

Fits perfectly my device. Worked perfectly. Only complaint is if you live in Texas, $3 battery charge should not be taken. Battery is less than values required for a lead acid battery recovery charge.

This battery wants you to charge it with 2 little jumper cables to charge it. This is NOT practical since the battery goes into the large speaker and it has to be re-screwed into the speaker to close it.

Am returning this battery, very impractical charging.

This is an excellent value to replace my Goal Zero Escape 150. One small issue. The battery size is little bit longer almost undetectable at naked eyes. But when insert it in the Goal Zero case, it did not fit.

I have to shave or cut the inside plastic case to allow the battery to sit in. It requires me a little bit of work for that. But I’m very satified with the result. The battery came with fully charged.

After two weeks, it is still full (On standby mode).

Walmart customer service did make good and awarded me $25 dollar gift card. I really appreciate them stepping up and going the extra mile to make me a happy customer.

Totally sealed battery, is the correct size. Was shipped double boxed with foam protection so there was no damage. I installed this on a generator engine and it started without having to charge the battery.

It’s hard to find good AGM batteries of this size.

Seem to hold a charge like they’re supposed to do. Arrived fast an packaged ok. The electric wheelchair I use them in is heavy. 665lbs gross. Up and down hills and at steady high speed for hours at a time and they charge back up with no issues.

Price was close or less than all others I searched for. Good purchase.

I use this as a starting battery for a 1979 150hp outboard boat motor. This application requires a strong power delivery to crank and start from cold. If the battery is even the slightest bit weak, it won’t crank fast enough to cold start this old motor.

This battery has exceeded my expectations and never let me down at the boat ramp. It was well worth the price for the piece of mind. With my old battery, I had to make sure I had it on the charger overnight before going out.

This battery is always ready-to-go with no need to have it on the overnight charger. I like the maintenance-free design so I don’t have to top it off every season. I expect that the AGM composition will allow it to have a longer life in a shock/vibration prone marine application than a standard flooded battery.

I havent had the opportunity to use them for very long on the lake yet. But. they have worked great on the short trips. These are longer than regular optima batteries and more narrow. I can almost fit both batteries in one compartment on my 2002 crestliner.

I think with a little adjustments I can make it work. These do not fit in normal battery trays, just be aware. I have always used optima batteries, in my trucks, cars, and boats. Great batteries all around.

I ordered this battery online and had it shipped to my home. The battery was poorly packaged and loose in between the packing in the box. The battery was less than 80% charged. I had to take it to the local store to have them check it on their tester before I put it on my boat.

I am a consulting engineer and cannot afford to have my computing systems unavailable due to a power failure. My primary backup is a high quality computer uninterruptable power supply (UPS) that provides 120VAC power to my computer system.

It automatically switches to its internal 12VDC battery when there is a power failure. The problem is that the UPS can carry the load for only about 50 minutes on its internal battery. I added this battery as an additional external battery in parallel with the UPS battery.

With this extra battery the UPS can carry my computer load for 10+ hours. It is kept charged by the UPS. It is completely clean and perfectly suitable for the ventilated utility closet where the UPS is located.

UPDATE: Below is our original review. We were very happy with these batteries at first, but less than four months later, they are not holding a charge at all. We’re forced to run our generator at night to keep the batteries from dying completely.

Original Review: We ordered 6 for our RV solar system – and they are great! Better than our old ones. (VMAX SLR125 AGM Sealed Deep Cycle 12V 125Ah batteries) These charge up fast and hold a charge. We actually just have 5 connected right now, and they give us more energy than our old batteries, and last through the night no problem.

(We were always checking the charge and sometimes having to start our generator in order to charge the old ones up while it was dark out. ) We’ve just had them three weeks, but so far, so good.

I have been completely satisfied with these batteries so far, only been running them for a couple weeks for a stand alone cabin with a 5000w aims pure sine inverter but so far so good. Installed 8 in balanced parallel for a 12V 800ah cell with two track max 40 mppt chargers and a 1000w array I haven’t had them in operation for very long so I will be updating my review after 100days of them in use to verify charge and discharge over extended operations.

(I have always stood behind Trojans t115 in 12v parallel so I will be comparing there overall performance to this market competitor).

Replaced my old batteries in chair with these and they hold less of a charge than my old batteries. Ive bought these before but this is the first bad experience Ive had with them. In my estimation they are not a good value for the money.

-Short version, since full review rejected- I’m told GEL cell batteries last longer than AGM batteries, and do not have “memory” or balancing problems, but mine seem to have a little less “oomph” in the output than AGM — which can be worrisome when dodging cars while running late on the way to a Doctor’s appointment.

I’ve only had this set for a year now, and they already seem to keep a lower charge, even after a full 24-hour recharge. I hope to get around to taking along a couple of spare old batteries (still good for a mile?), and running my GEL cells all the way down to see how well I can still count on them — and then be able to swap to the old ones so I can still get home afterward.

I bought 2 of these to use for a solar panel setup and for my trolling motor. Lots of power for a small size. Would highly recommend.

It holds up it keeps going and going very good reserve. The only thing is the company or someone else should sell a battery box that fits just right. Can’t find a battery box to fit nicely in my kayak had to build one.

Good battery, using for 4 years. No problem.

Came like most batteries, about 75-80% charged. Finished it off with a 2 amp charger. Only thing is that the top of the battery says not to charge at a rate higher than 7 amps. and recommends 4 amps.

My charger has three settings, 2 amps, 8 amps, 12 amps. Don’t want to void my warranty, so after I used it the first time, I had to use the 2 amp rate. Took a long time to charge. The battery did well for it’s size, used it with a Minn Kota 30 lb thrust motor.

On a canoe. Ran the canoe upstream for about 3/4 mile in a strong current at the highest setting, battery never got hot, motor ran good. Charger showed about 60% when I hooked it up that afternoon. Not an expert on these things, this is the first I have ever had, but I am happy with it so far.

10th month of use, I am using it as a replacement for a 350 watt APC UPS battery. Tips: Use a modern solid state charger on AGM settings to install it FULLY charged. I found it initially (brand new) topped off correctly after 45 minutes.

Do not throw out the charging rate/characteristics paper included with it ! I installed mine with two battery isolation switches, so I could top it off (2 amp AGM setting) every 30 – 90 days without back feeding into the APC built in charger to protect the UPS.

That can expend bat life. Battery seems to mate well with constant charging characteristics of the UPS.

I bought this to repair my Yeti power bank. It was very easy to install and works perfectly. This $120 spend allowed me to put a $500 tool back into service. That’s an awesome deal. I highly recommend this.
