Reviews From Real Customers
The camera on this little guy is pretty good in decent light. It’s really noisy indoors, but I expect most people will use it outside. Think of it as a three-axis stabilized GoPro without the fisheye.
Things I like: -Good image quality in 4k/60p (in good light). -Outstanding stabilization as you would expect from DJI -So easy to keep in your pocket (in the protective case) and carry anywhere. So you can throw this in your pocket and have an amazing stabilized video camera that you can walk with, shoot from a car, whatever.
-Unlike a GoPro, it’s not fixed focus. If you focus on a face, you will get decent bokeh for a small sensor. Some things I don’t like: 1. It always starts in selfie mode (pointing backwards at the user) and that’s a super annoyance when you aren’t using it that way a lot.
I wish you could pick which way it starts up, or have it start in the same way you turned it off. Also it takes THREE pushes of the button to flip it around, so it’s a lot of clicking and messing around to turn it on and get it to work as a normal camera.
2. The screen is SO small. Smaller than a postage stamp. I would prefer for the whole thing to be bigger so we could see the screen better. (Using it with a phone as they suggest is ridiculous. it’s far too fragile and flimsy that way).
3. No interchangeable batteries, so when it’s dead, you are done.
Overall this is a great little camera for everyday use. The the gimbal works great to stabilize video when walking, panning, etc. Video quality is good (4K) and comparable to my iPhone 11 Pro, but (as expected) isn’t quite as sharp or as good in low light as a mirrorless camera with a much larger sensor.
For everyday travel videos like I’ll be using it for, it’s great. Still image quality is good, but quality suffers when zooming in and the image gets pixelated and soft, which was quite disappointing but non-zoomed photos look quite nice IMO.
I’ve only used the standard 16MP mode, not the 64MP mode, so I’ll have to try that out and compare. Ease of use is great and it’s easy to slip in a pocket or bag to take with you on the go. The added accessories and value of the Creator Combo make this a no-brainer over the camera alone.
If you’re looking for a super portable camera with the ability to take good stills and video. and are willing to sacrifice a bit of quality for a massive portability advantage, then this little camera may be what you’re looking for.
IMO, the strengths of this camera, especially with the creator combo pack, make up for its shortcomings and I’d happily buy it again.
I used to use the original DJI Osmo which was good. This is even better and so small. Possibly too small for man sized hands, especially when using without the added iPhone. The built in screen is tiny, less than a stamp.
The slide-in adaptors and controls will get lost. The gimble head is very fragile looking. This is not an action camera. Having said that, first shot on a recent job it took a full whack from a basket ball which sent the mechanism into a frenzy.
Rebooted and it’s fine so perhaps tougher than looks. The pictures out of this are quite remarkable. The auto exposure being especially good at following the action and lighting. As too is the auto focus.
Taking stills is a bit of slow process but the results are good. Seeing the results on screen you’d never know they were produced on such a tiny device. Menus on the iPhone can be a bit confusing, so too can interface items switching sides as you manipulate the camera.
Also it’s easy for the Pocket 2 to fall off the Lightening connector, there is no easy way to put this down once attached. Just need to hand to careful assistant if have one. There are also the inevitable ‘issues’ still being raised about DJI and privacy.
You have to register and log on before it will even start up. Battery and card life good. The four microphone setup on the handle is also very impressive giving real immersive recordings. Would I buy again? Probably, but would get the replacement insurance, in a working scenario this device isn’t going to have a long untroubled life.
The Osmo Action is the first action camera on the market built with dual screens, you can switch between the front screen and the back screen to adjust compositions and angles effortlessly. RockSteady technology effectively reduces shakes during moving, ensuring stable footage no matter how heavy and fierce the action gets.
4K HDR video with enhanced dynamic range retains rich details in light and dark areas and delivers more natural transitions. 4K video shot at 60fps 100Mbps is even more vivid and smoother. Multiple shooting modes such as 8 x slow motion, and accessories allow you to create without constraints, you can even make the best of the Osmo Action using the DJI Mimo app.
The ONE X2 is Insta360’s pocket-size spherical VR solution with dual- and single-lens modes. In dual-lens mode, also called 360 Cam Mode, the camera uses both its front and rear lenses to capture immersive 360 5.
7K resolution video with automatic internal stitching. The ONE X2 is Insta360’s pocket-size spherical VR solution with dual- and single-lens modes. In dual-lens mode, also called 360 Cam Mode, the camera uses both its front and rear lenses to capture immersive 360 5.
7K resolution video with automatic internal stitching, and then using the companion iOS/Android app, you can navigate through the shot and select a specific angle and share it directly to social media.
Single-lens mode turns this 360 camera into a standard camera that you can capture regular shots with. This mode, also called Steady Cam mode, uses FlowState Stabilization with an advanced scene-detection algorithm to digitally smooth out your shot so it looks more steady.
The ONE X2 is designed 33′ waterproof as is, without any waterproof housing required, so you can take it underwater with you as well as use it in the rain. The camera also features a round touchscreen on the front for framing and monitoring your shots.
For capturing audio, the ONE X2 is designed with four onboard mics with wind reduction to capture clean 360 audio, and it also supports an optional dedicated 3. 5mm mic adapter for connecting an external mic for more professional audio.
Other features include voice control, one-tap cinematic edits via the mobile app, recording, control from an optional Apple Watch, recording audio directly to optional AirPods, and much more. The Insta360 Lens Guards for the ONE X2 camera add protection from scratches and dirt to the front and rear lenses of the camera.
They attach with supplied adhesives and can be removed with the included prying tool and attached again. An adhesive comes attached to each lens guard, and six additional ones are included. Replacement adhesives are also available from Insta360.
The lens guards are splash-proof but not designed for underwater use. If you use the optional dive case for the camera, the lens guards can be left attached for your underwater adventures. Note: Not suitable for underwater use without an optional dive case The Lens Cap for the Insta360 ONE X2 securely slides right over the top of the camera and can easily be pulled off.
It covers both the front and rear lenses to protect them from scratches and dirt when you have the camera in your pocket or bag. It’s made of silicone and designed to the contours of the lenses. It also fits over the lenses if you have the optional ONE X2 lens guards already attached to the lenses.

2″ and features a 1/4″-20 mounting thread on the end. The included selfie stick is specially fortified for use with the Bullet Time Handle. Using a separately available Insta360 or third-party stick with the handle may damage your ONE X camera.
Compatible Cameras: Insta360 ONE X2, ONE R, ONE X, ONE action camera.
INSTA ONE X2I wouldn’t recommend this camera. I use it for work & it makes me horribly inefficient because it disconnects like every 35mins and then I spent another 15mins reconnecting through the app then my app I use for work & it connects to the proprietary app then disconnects from my iPad.
Connects to the app I use for work, disconnects from the proprietary app. Connects to my app for work, disconnects from my ipad. Connects to the Insta360 app, disconnects, tries to pair with my phone that already has other wifi & my AirPods connected when my beautiful ipad is just waiting to connect.
Turn off everything on my phone so the fabulous Insta360 can pair to the intended device, disconnects. I waste more time trying to connect this to the intended device that I’m technically bad at my job because 1.
I’m working so slow I’m useless 2. I picked this thing out and kinda reflects on my decision making. 3. The kicker: THE QUALITY ISNT EVEN GOOD! That’s why I bought the thing over my old GoPro 360. It says 2K or 4K, I forget, it’s some “K” of HD & the photos have more grains than a beach.
You can’t zoom in on a 360 because it gets so grainy and unusable as a photo I don’t know why I bought this. The 360 is only useful if you don’t zoom which is kinda ridiculous if you ask me. For reference I have a light for my 360 & I take 360 photos of Contruction building before completion & I have a tape measure about 6-8’ away from the camera & I can’t read the tape measure zoomed out or in because the quality is like 480p at best.
And I’ve changed my settings, set it to top quality on all camera settings & functions & they’re all poor. I’ve had this thing for almost a year & I regret the purchase so much. The photos are so bad and it disconnects so much, it’s so frustrating.
Id stay away and do more research. Maybe it’s good for people who want to jump off tall rocks with great lighting and you can show your friends later about how you jumped off a rock. But if you want to use it for any capacity outside of the most perfectly lite area & you want to zoom in on anything, Dont buy this camera.
Purchased online from JBHifi. Please read all the other online reviews noting this issue before purchase if you plan to use it near the water. I wish I had! I have years of experience with under water photography equipment, and other brand underwater action cameras etc.
None of which have leaked or let me down. I also purchased the dive housing (yet to be used) for deeper adventures but figured it should be fine on the surface with a 30ft rating. The Insta360 One X2 claims to be waterproof to 30 feet.
My camera has been used for a little snorkelling and never been deeper than 4 ft. Every time it went near the water, the USB and battery latches were carefully checked. In all the time I had the camera I never removed the battery as it was always charged viat the USB cable hatch and video transferred via the app.
Yet, the last time I went to charge it, it short circuited and fried itself due to obvious water ingress into the battery compartment. Upon checking the surface coating seemed to have come off and was sitting around the seals.
Camera less than 12 months old and used 7 or 8 times. Waste of money as many extra accessories added making it not a cheap purchase. Insta360 company won’t talk to you if there is any water damage and puts the blame back on the consumer.
This is nonsense. There are many upset people with the same experience.
It is a very unstable design. Too tall and thin and doesn’t stand up by itself in most places and will topple over every chance it gets. Of course the lenses stick out like the nose on your face and like that, goes splat each time you fall head first.
The second day mine was on their selfie stick on a desktop mini tripod outside and the slightest breeze knocked it over and chipped one lens and it bounced around to chip the other so after 5 minutes the camera was ruined.
The app and PC software are totally useless and takes you forever to do anything. Have it running on your phone and watch the video there but if try to do anything else with it outside of that you are up for heartache.
You drag their insv video files off the sd card to their studio program as they say and it’s not recognised and the screen stays blank so you have to go back to the phone and convert it from the camera to the phone to the pc.
It is a very long way from plug and play. Don’t waste your money.

I’ve had two of these now, I set to use as a dashcam and it keeps resetting itself to picture mode, also it doesn’t overwrite the sd card when full it just stops recording, not good as my insurance says I must have a camera.
This was meant to be an upgrade from the ghost x that just stop working (all 5 and replaced under warranty), all I do is mount them on my motorbike and only take them off when washing it, drift have some serious manufacturing issues that they refuse to acknowledge, shame as the concept is excellent!.
Cheapest price I found was on MSG bike gear. The camera itself is very easy to use and the quality is good. Setup is very straightforward and the different modes help with what you want to use it for.
I haven’t had chance to test the battery life yet, but other reviews state it’s very close to the 9 hours claimed by the manufacturer. Overall, I am very pleased with the camera , the design and the ease of mounting on to my helmet.

Don’t buy this camera it sucks!! If you read these reviews with 5/4 stars very few actually used it underwater and they are going buy photos around there house. Almost all said they couldn’t wait to use it diving but haven’t gone.
Grainy photos above land and pics underwater are 10x worse. I used it in water with 100ft perfect visibility and you can’t make out squat even when I was 5ft from what I was shooting. Totally jacked up my dive trip to Maui.
Save your money and buy a better brand. You will thank me later.

This is a very good action camera and if combined with the waterproof case it will give you good quality footage of all of your activities. If you are looking for a motorcycle action camera however I’d suggest paying a bit more for the XL because the waterproof case needed for the X is huge.
Pro’s: Facility to connect wireless to phone is great, for preview and positioning. Video quality is excellent. Size is perfect, very discrete and not like wearing a brick on the side of your lid. Rotating of lens excellent for making parallel with road.
Battery life very good (around 4-6hrs continuous recording). Fixing adhesives excellent up to 160mph on track. Android App is very good. Con’s: Not water resistant at all, just very slight dampness and it shuts down.
Fiddly menu system (but you do get the hang of it). No option to connect to alternative audio source. Inbuilt mic no good above 10mph (wind noise, am testing masking tape over it). I think that’s it for now!.

30% longer battery life is here thanks to a larger 1720mAh battery. This lets you shoot more without having to swap out batteries and packs enough juice to power your camera through the cold.
Havent used any of the “mods” yet. Have put a lot of use into this durable little camera, mostly suberging it in water, clean pool or murky river water. And water is probably the only thing keeping it from catching on fire.
It heats up like a handwarmer. Battery charges very slow, unless you use a 45 watt or higher c type charger, its charges very fast, from 0 to 100% in about 20 minutes. As far as video quality it is great, but what camera can you find for $400 that has 5k video.
The video is incredible,if there is enough light. If it is dim or dark, forget it,its like recording with a potato. The auto shutter and iso setting is not the best adaptable for night,or day sometimes.
The time lapse for sky views is amazing, they are decent, but at night in the city even if it seems dark, its not dark enough, can get some stars and clear view of the trees nearby, still is amazing nights shots with the time lapse, but oddly not great at all for normal night video.
As far as the remote app features,it needs work. The app screen is not integrated with the sites, you just have to take the apps word that it IS streaming, and a LOT of patience,as the streaming options on the app are outdated and you have to work around and troubleshoot to even be able to stream, very broken and nothing on google pertaining on the issues but unresolved questions.
It’s just not consumer friendly,in addition to poor connenction if farther 3ft from phone, the streaming is far from reliable. I have tried using the gopro for twitch streaming but the connection is bad.
I bought a galaxy s22 ultra for faster processing speeds to compensate for lag,but its doesnt matter, since it only uses wifi or the phones data plan “hotspot”,it eats through data. I have Gigabit speed home internet with 2 asus ax3000 routers, but even so,the gopro barely recieves wifi signal.
With the phones hotspot as wifi, unlimited data plan,it slightly impoves, but not much,as there is a signal bar screen for streaming with wifi or hotspot,it never goes past 4 bars, and it has a total of about 25 bars to show signal strength.
For twitch it keeps bugging out on the “start stream” button with an almost inescable error, about not having the correct “game catergory”,which is usally just the title of the game your playing or whatever title you want, there shouldnt be any restriction but if you dont use a video game title, letter for letter,it will keep giving the error, and when you do have a right working title, you have to use the same title on the actual Twitch app FIRST by starting a stream on the twitch app, while having open the GoPro app open, and praying it hasnt exited you from the “start stream” page ,starting the stream from your phone on the twitch app then switching over to the gopro app while streaming,to avoid the error that will eneavitable delay you another 20 minutes,as you have to enter the wifi password on the app, everytime.
The GoPro 9 is a very good camera, I have taken some nice footage so far. I would give the camera itself 5 stars, what is my issue is trying to find a way of editing the footage that doesn’t entail signing up and paying for the privilege.
Especially since you can’t even try the prospective packages to see if they work or are easy to use or not. All of the ‘free’ software packages are only free trials. then you have to sign up and pay, pay pay! I would have thought, buying a camera, you would be able to at least use the footage, simple cutting and trimming, without having to pay a yearly subscription.
Had I known, I wouldn’t have made the purchase. Phones are so much easier to use and use the footage. So, my view is that the camera is awesome, but using the resulting footage, if you are not experienced with post production and the costs of being able to do it, is a terrible experience without any sort of guidance and everywhere you look to be able to achieve results are just ad after ad for subscribing and paying.
Very disappointing. Even the GoPro app isn’t supported on PC any more? I just want a simple means of cutting out the unnecessary bits of the footage, or joining desired scenes together. nothing fancy.
Unless you are a teenager or very cluey on technology (or willingto learn), and not worried about handing out money hand over fist to purchase subscriptions to different editing suites until you find one you can use, I would steer clear of these cameras.
Research the post production costs before you buy, otherwise, you will likely be left disappointed like myself. Unless I can work out how to edit and use the footage, I fear the camera, as great as it is, will be just a technologically advanced.
GoPro: “Be a HERO. ” Catchy isn’t it? GoPro, a camera that attaches to your body and sports equipment, has advertisements that are mesmerizing, even for those outside of the action-sports world. In the ads, the camera and the editing place you in the athlete’s shoes.
Viewers get to see the sport in the first person. This is powerful. Their advertisements work. When I was young, I saw GoPros on the heads, limbs, and equipment of my favorite athletes: mountain bikers like Brandon Semenuk, Sam Pilgrim, and Emil Johanson; surfers like John Florence, Noa Deane, and Mick Fanning; and Skiers like JP Auclair, Seth Morrison, and Tanner Hall.
These athletes have risen to the top of their respective sports, truly masters of their chosen art. GoPro recognized their influence and the control these athletes could have over the market. The company decided to use lifestyle branding to connect these action cameras to the abilities that suchathletes have.
I was enthralled and convinced that my videos would turn out like theirs. Twelve-year-old Nick saved up for a month by doing odd jobs. Then he went out and bought a used GoPro Hero 4 black. After my first mountain bike ride, I ran inside to watch the footage I had just recorded, and it was grainy, shaky, and frankly nauseating to watch for any length of time.
I was disappointed, to say the least. I ran to the Internet to see what I had done wrong. I watched videos on what frame rate and shutter speed to use, and I spent yet more money on a bundle of attachments to mount the camera in different locations.
After playing with the settings and moving the camera around, I was still disappointed. This is because the marketing worked. No matter what setting I used or where I placed the camera, it wouldn’t look like the advertisements.
This is because I wasn’t as skilled as the athletes I watched growing up, but also because GoPro ads are shot using thousands of dollars in peripheral equipment, gimbals, lenses, and drones. Most importantly they are edited professionally, so the colors pop, the video is stable, and the location looks even more appealing.
This means that the videos shown in their ads are unachievable because of user skill. This is even more so because of the camera’s real abilities. The consumer-level products just aren’t that great. I have since purchased newer GoPros in hopes that they have improved.
They have, but only marginally with slightly better stabilization and picture. So I stand by my position that the look of those ads is unachievable for a day-to-day consumer, like me.

Over the years I’ve had different types and brands of “action cameras”. All of them had their own styles, functions and benefits. I always went for the ones with smaller stealthier look so you didn’t look like you were carrying a lunchbox or a camcorder of the 80’s haha and we all know how big those were.
Advancements in technology have gotten these cameras downsized so small and yet they still manage to pack more features and better internals and externals than the much larger ones years ago. Instead of “viewfinders” now they have fully integrated dual full color digital LCD screens.
One smaller one on the front and a wider touchscreen version on the back with all of the details right there on the screen with bright clear color icons as well. The features on this thing are crazy! 3 Viewing fields, 16:9, 4:3, and now 8:7.
You’ve got the option of 4k or 5. 3k, 60, 30, or 24 frames per second. The newer 8:7 ratio at 5. 3k now gives us 24. 7 million!! pixels, compared to the older 5. 3k at 16:9 ratio which was a mere 15.
8 million pixels. You’ve got ProTune options that allow you to adjust Bit rate, shutter speed, white balance, your iso ratio, and your exposure value. And now a 10 bit capability versus the 8 bit they used to have which was roughly 16 million and now 10 giving you roughly 1 billioooon megapixels (Dr.
Evil in Austin Powers voice) haha which gives you a real clarity upgrade and richness in color. The lens options they give you are Linear + Horizon Lock (full 360 degree rotation) which in my opinion was the coolest because you could basically twist the camera all the way around upside down but the video stayed straight forward the entire time upside down or right side up, Linear 19-39mm, Wide 16-34mm, Superview 16mm, and Hyperview 12mm.
Another really cool option is night mode! You can really get some trick shots that you normally see only done with DSLR’s. One mode is Star Trails which if you set your camera outside aimed up for a while its a time lapsed shot that captures the stars moving but gives the effect that you see when you’re watching Star Wars and about to jump into hyperspace where they all become lines instead of stars.
The next one is Vehicle Lights, again time lapsed shots of cars or traffic passing by giving you a constant stream of light which makes for some awesome shots. Then there is Light Painting where you set the camera out and you can take any light source in your hand and make designs in the air or even air write your name or make shapes and the camera time lapse gives you that full shape or design.
I’ve done this with DSLR’s which you have a lot more settings to deal with to get this right so being able to do these at the touch of a button here makes me love this little camera even more. Everything included is the HERO11 Black camera itself , a nice hard shelled carrying case that’s big enough for all of the included accessories and camera itself, Enduro Rechargeable Battery, curved adhesive mounts, mounting buckle + thumb screw, USB type C cable and free SD card.
GoPro has become the expected name in action cameras for good reason. The cameras tend to do everything better than everyone else, have the best support and the most accessories. To start, the GoPro Hero 11 Black comes packaged in brown paper around a canvas/nylon carry semi-hardcase, which I find to be very cool, and reminiscent of the previous generations.
With all of these companies working towards renewable packaging, this is probably one of the best examples, simple paper with a carry case that is reusable by the customer rather than a bunch of single-use plastics.
It may cost SLIGHTLY more than single use plastic, but honestly, in the way many of these companies create this stuff in volume, it’s probably not so dramatic and it cuts down on the footprint of items like this.
Plus, it just adds to the cool factor. In setup, it’s very straightforward, there’s a little door in the side that houses the battery and a spot for an SD card. The camera is waterproof to 10 meters, but I haven’t taken the time to test that yet (fundamentally I know things like this and my phone have an amount of water resistance, but there’s still something about me and tossing electronics in the water, I suppose someday I’ll get over it).
The Hero 11 Black carries the same form factor as the previous generations, so it is easy to swap in mods and accessories from the previous gens without much concern. Of most note is the larger sensor in the camera to give it higher quality, larger images at higher resolution.
The front facing screen is nice for keeping track of what the camera is recording when it is facing you. I have to say though, the image quality is outstanding. The new sensor is superb, the aspect ratio gives an immense amount of control over the video, particularly if you need to crop or change things based on certain types of content creation.
There’s so much room to play with this here. I really cant say enough about this. In low light conditions, I still find the image to be quite good, though definitely not on the level of an appropriately lit image.
Really it’s hard to find anything negative to say. There’s an improvement with this camera over the 10, it’s noticeable, and if you don’t already own the 10, it’s a worthy upgrade over most previous cameras in the line.
I easily recommend this to anyone in the market for an action camera.

I had a Contour camera that stopped working properly and decided to “upgrade” to Gopro (which put Contour out of business, I presume). The Hero is a power-eating machine that eats batteries for breakfast.
Picture quality is great – but you have no idea what mode your camera is in unless you are holding the camera – which defeats the entire purpose of having a Gopro. If I am going to hold a camera, the Gopro – which is small and has no attachment points of any kind – is a very poor choice.
But once it is mounted, you can easily change from video to photo with the SAME BUTTON that you use to start the video! So you press the button and either you get a video or nothing (because the first press changed modes instead of starting the camera).
then you press again and instead of a video you get a photo. It’s like Russian Roulette with your memories. Good luck getting the shots you want. I spent a day skiing with my new Hero 10 and the MOST IMPORTANT SHOT ended up in “Time Lapse Mode” – which is to say it is useless.
Their desktop app crashes and they email me every day asking if it is somehow working even though they have offered NO SUGGESTIONS as to how to fix it except – you guessed it: “Try reinstalling the same software program (and leave us alone since you already bought the camera and we don’t really care what you think)” Their tag line should be: Lose your memories – and your mind – with Hero 10.
Positives: Small, Durable, Versatile, Water-Proof, Easy to use adjustable settings. Video stabilization is awesome. Negatives: File sizes are insanely huge, take up lots of memory fast and no good way to really tone it down.
Go-Pro Color is completely off, over-saturated, and unnatural to reality. One can however turn that off providing some improvement. Quite a bit of digital distortion/fragmenting around moving subjects.
Does not come with a plug in charger for the wall or much else for that matter. Still images lack detail zooming in and are about the equivalent of a cheap smartphone. No built in stereo mic? Less expensive Sony cameras had that 10 years ago along with other features this does not have.
Final Conclusions: Great for what it’s built for (Durability/Action shots but certainly could use some improvements on some things less expensive cameras from other brands were already doing 10+ years ago.
Decent enough little camera but I feel just a tad over-rated. AVCHD Sony video from 10 years ago has better color, less fragmenting, overall more pleasant and natural looking to watch. Simply having higher video resolution isn’t everything when it comes to overall video quality.
Certainly beats what I’ve previously owned when it comes to image stability though.
The next revolution (pun intended) in adventure; the Garmin VIRB 360 is the first camera to capture a complete sphere of high-resolution video and audio. It has 1-click video stabilization for up to 4k resolution at 30 fps and allows you to instantly livestream any adventure.
This rugged, waterproof camera will give you the full 360 degrees, horizontally and vertically. If you have a bit more time for editing the resolution can be pushed up to 5. 7k resolution at 30fps. The camera offers modes such as time lapse, manual, photos, burst shots and Travelapse in up to 15 megapixels.
The four built-in microphones and in camera stitching mean you can capture that 360 experience. The Spherical Sabilized 4k video means that the shaky, hard-to-follow video will be turned into something smooth and stable with a simple 1 click.
The 3 modes of 4k spherical stabilization ensure a smooth video. The quick movements and vibrations are removed without changing the overriding camera orientation. Lock mode secures the orientation of the camera in a specified direction.
In follow mode, the orientation follows the GPS trajectory. Using the VIRB Mobile app and the VIRB Edit desktop software, the footage you take can then be cleaned up, edited, stabilized and shared. The Mobile app connects the camera to your Apple or Android device.
The smartphone can be used as a remote and to see what is being recorded and when used with virtual reality device you can instantly view your 350 videos in VR or livestream to YouTube or Facebook. Through that editing process you can have the data overlays such as GPS, GLONASS, barometer, accelerometer and more, provide countless customizable G-Metrix to augment reality.
Premade templates and custom data will give your videos another level. Garmin sensors and devices work with you VIRB to extend camera control and detailed data tailored to your adventure all kicked off with your mobile remote or voice and tag those special moments.
I have had 4 by now. There were DOA, and also just dying for whatever reason. The DOA were replaced by RDQ no questions asked. I had to do firmware updates which fixed problems on some of RC5s. The video quality is actually very good.
Stabilization is OK but not great. I still will buy them because of multiple housings for Sessions (aluminum and TPU) already used on my quads and helmets. I wish Session5 still be around but it is basically gone by today.
RC5 absolutely don’t like water. The setup is via the smart phone app and generated by it QR code which camera reads. There is no way to play footage other than removing the SD card. Batteries are hard to replace as they are glued in tight slots (there are 2 1S in parallel with voltage reg.
between batts and two boards). Hardware and camera body are quite fragile so buy a few if you crash a lot like me.
This is my second RunCam, bought as a backup because I don’t want to be without one. At this price, you can do that without flinching. That’s the biggest Pro of this camera, the price. Then, the weight, it’s lighter than a Session 5.
Durability seems good as I’ve bashed mine plenty with barely a mark on it. Wide range of shooting options, too. (I like 1440p/60fps. ) The Orange fits into any GP5 print design too, so there are no shortage of carriers on Thingiverse.
However, it takes a little more thought and effort to get really great video here. I use ND filters and do quite a bit “in post”, and can get huge improvements in quality. It looks great, people comment on the level of detail, but it’s always just a little short of that GoPro gold standard.
I think it looks a lot like the SMO4K in end results; again, at a fraction of the price. BUT, for guy who’s making videos for fun, the cost, weight, and overall quality far outweigh the fairly small difference in picture.
This is a really nice little camera. Lightweight and takes pretty good pics. Does have some limitations tho. 1. Files cannot exceed 4GB. It stops and restarts a new file and you lose a few seconds of video.
2. It loses the date. This is a confirmed bug. Send it a new set of settings and it sets the date correctly. 3. Bright sunlight really washes out the image. It’s so good on a cloudy day or under tree cover in the shade that bright light performance is a little disappointing.
This first-class camera makes recordings with up to 4K/30fps, your experience with razor-sharp and clear details. The virb Ultra 30 also has 3-axis image stabilisation 3 for recordings with as calm image – like the snowboarding, cycling or off-road tours.
Your active lifestyle is actually more than video and sound. Add the relevant performance data through G-8018 technology, including speed, altitude, g-forces and even heart rate 4. The integrated Garmin GPS (10 Hz; position measurement 10 x/s) and other sensors record data automatically.
This lets you as data fields and graphics in your recordings show and prove how far, how high and how quickly the way you were. Further, compatible Garmin sensors and devices can also be coupled with the virb, in order to get more out of your camera and detailed on your activities to deliver customized measurement data.
On the tabs compatible devices and Accessories you will find a list of compatible products and sensors. Easy to useWith the virb Ultra 30, it is now easier than ever to capture moments of your life, which is particularly impressive.
In the bright LCD color touch-screen you can directly see is recorded. The intuitive touch-screen you can even operate in the supplied underwater housing, and the simple menu navigation allows you to quickly adapt the settings.
With one-touch operation you can show off your camera quickly by pressing a button, switch-on and off or short a photo, in the midst of your action, shoot. This text is machine translated.
Garmin sensors works grate! When it’s come to the stats of your activity this is the camera you going to need! I use it for running I can track my heart rate, temperature, route and much more on the screen! Video quality is the same or better then hero5 but image stabilization is better on the hero5 (tested) not a big deal because VIRB 30 is good enough! So final! If you are looking for an action camera for sport and you already have Garmin devices look no further this is the cam you looking for! Also fits all GoPro mounts 🙂 especially hero5’s.
Pros: Works great with my other Garmin devices Ease of use Voice commands superior to GoPro Less audio noise in videos recorded on my bike than GoPro Cons: Needs case for waterproof as opposed to Hero 5 Garmin does not have a dedicated gimbal Other thoughts: I prefer it over the GoPro Hero 5 in large part because I use it with my Garmin Edge.
I thing the interface has a better–more user friendly–design. The pros listed above are important. Would love a waterproof version with access to the ports in wet conditions.
