20 Best Audio Bible In A Year (2022 Updated)

The Reader is not as good as the one in the earlier edition, which I have had for several years, and there is no introduction to the books and Letters. That was done by a female voice in the earlier edition.

If some of the disks in the older version had not deteriorated I would prefer to listen to them. The Reader is too staccato in places and spoils the flow.

I purchased this as a birthday gift for my mother who is 83. She changes her mind a lot, however, had been asking for the audio Bible for several years. She says she loves it, so in my view that means 5 stars.

My wife and I love it! It is exactly what we hoped it would be, and we listen to portions of the Bible every day–sometimes individually and sometimes together.

This was purchased for an elderly lady who has poor vision. She is delighted with these CDs and says the voice is very easy to listen to. She also said that she can take more in and understand more than she did when she was able to read the Scriptures.

Item arrived two days sooner than expected, which was great! Durable case that survived the rather thin cardboard it was shipped it. As to the CDs, what else could I say; Mr Scourby is legendary for his work here,.

The voices of the people make it more real and meaningful. The voice of Jesus is so fitting. I have learned so much from listening to these tapes. I play them in the car where trips fly by as I gain so much understanding of God’s word.

Thus, I would also recommend these tapes for people to gain the understanding that Jesus wants us to have. I gained understanding that I might not have ever had without this tape. I have bought copies for other people, too.

Also, the people who helped me with my first order really helped me make the best choice where the benefits are eternal.

Absolutely the best dramatised Bible I’ve ever purchased. I bought this a a birthday present for my wife, and she just loves it. She keeps a cd in her car all the time and listens back and forth from work.

The price is simply the best on Ebay, you get so much for so little, it was almost unbelievable. It is also packaged very well and came in a zip up case filled with sleeves, keeping the cd’s so neatly arranged! I highly recommend this Bible to anyone looking to hear God’s Word in a unique way.

You will not be disappointed! I prefer the KJV version, but there are other versions available as well. Trust me, some of the dramatizations are done so well, you will have to keep a tissue handy to wipe the tears from your eyes.

My favorite so far is the book of Acts, simply awesome, especially the story of Stephen. But everything I have listened to so far, is fantastic. The crucifiction of our Lord comes to life as you listen to the many characters and sounds accenting the story in such detail! You will find yourself captivated, and it will greatly increase the amount of time you spend in the Holy Word.

I bought this CD set because I work long hours alone and am able to listen to God’s Word getting through a book at a time. It is very good with backround music, individual character voices and some sound affects.

The ONLY reason I did not rate this as excellent is because I had a dramatized KJV set that had much more sound affects, chariots, crowd noises, etc. I would definitely recommend this product and have to many of my friends.

And, if needed, I would definitely purchase this product again.

I just recieved the box set and was impressed with the box display itself. Today I had several hours driving so I put in cd 1, then two then 3. when I made it to the hotel i didnt want to stop the cd.

I have read the entire bible but always struggled in Geniuses with the genealogy and the hard to pronunce names. this cleared up so much today. wow. I will be looking forward to the next few weeks of driving.

As a practicing Christian and someone trying hard to be a Follower of Christ (not a fan) i an sad to say i do not aleays get to read 30 minutes along with my 30 min prayer each morning. this will NOT replace that.

gibing God first fruit MUST happen but this will be a joy to listen while driving. I just hope my HDD driver holds all 70 something cds. I highly recommend this. I had plans on downloading them then resale it but now i will have to rethink that.

A wonderful devotional Bible. This is a wonderful devotional Bible to read every morning. It gives you scriptures in the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. It is a short 1/2 hour devotional which I used all last year so bought several for my daughters and granddaughters for this year.

I would highly recommend this bible!!!.

We recommend The One Year Bible as a great format for disciplined Bible reading. If you want to slow it down, you can easily use the plan to stretch it out for two years. We appreciate the readability and accuracy of the New Living Translation.

I have tried several times reading the bible, but always had trouble understanding. The Bible in a Year is making me understand the Bible much easier.

I guess I have reached the point of being too old for modern technology. I thought a cd was a cd. This very clearly states that it is an mp3 cd, but I didn’t realize that was different from a normal cd.

It will not play in my 2003 car stereo or in any of my cd players. It will play on the computer and in my portable dvd player. It is exactly what it says it is and is quite enjoyable. This review is just a caution for other old fogies who might not be aware.

Ask your kids or grandkids before purchasing if you’re not sure if it will play on your device. They will know.

I absolutely love this version of the NKJV. I’ve been using it to execute a Bible in a year program, and I’ve not had a single complaint with the interpretive choices that the editors have made for any book of the Bible.

One warning: do NOT spend more than $40 on a physical copy. There are still digital download copies out there, linked from the website of the publisher. (I won’t say more, just to keep from making eBay mad.

I genuinely love and appreciate the hard work and time it took for these CDs to be made! It has helped me fill more fulfilled in my daily studies. The individual voices accompanied with the soft background music and sounds have certainly helped me retain more information than if I continually re-read the passages.

I am very thankful to have discovered this not only for myself but for my family. I can play the discs anywhere I am whether it be at home or in the car. I get to listen and learn allow side my husband and our two young boys.

I purchased this product to replace an older Alexander Scourby KJV set that I have used for many years. This set of CDs had a great advertised value but is very poorly recorded to the CDs as some of them sound fine and others have double echoing effect.

I have tried them on several media devices to insure it wasn’t my device causing the issue. Now I understand why is was on sale from normally $79. 85 down to $50. 15. instead of posting as a great value, should be posted as a cheap knockoff.

I will be returning them today.

Great reading of the kjv read in a style close to how it was written before the verses and chapters. Fair price and more than worth it.

I have wanted this product for quite a while. I am very pleased with it. The carrying case makes it very handy. I listen to a CD at night before I retire. The CDs are very good quality and easy to understand.

After the stress of the day, I look forward to listening to God’s word. My eyes are somewhat dim, so the Bible on CD helps a lot.

This book is a really nice read, the paragraph & spacing style of the printed pages allow readers to associate the material with any other books that aren’t Bibles OR college material of the 2 column type.

This Bible, specifically the 2013 version, is about 3lbs or so. The size is 8. 25″ tall, 5. 33″ wide, 1. 66″ thick (21cm tall, 13. 75cm wide, 3. 75cm thick) so it’s not too small OR too large. The material format and print size, between 10 & 12 font, mean that it’s easier to read than the smaller print Bibles.

The author’s have taken the time to work on this book as is seen with how the material is compiled and shared. The book’s only faults are that the events are chronologically ordered by the events that happen not the time of the writing about the events.

That is a factor that readers’ can use to find MORE value from with the reading. For example the series of books about Jesus’ on earth were all recorded at different times and for different readers, there are different timelines associated for readers, so I’ll use the choice that’s different for my understanding of the writings.

This Bible has MARK’s writing from about 55 to 65AD, LUKE’s from 60AD, MATTHEW’s from 60 to 65AD, JOHN’s from 85 to 90AD. The New World Translation timeline is different MATTHEW’s writing completedin 41AD, LUKE’s writing completed between 56 and 58AD, MARK’s 60 to 65AD, and finally JOHN’s ending at about 98AD.

This means reading understanding can differ based on opinions of when things were written, I’m not going to historically tell you details of this info now, but it’s useful to consider the various writing times as well as the different writer’s reasons for writing to the readers they were sharing with, because of how this varies what they share and how they share it, it can also influence considerations of what was written when and how.

MATTHEW as a Jew and a tax collector, was a person that kept accounts of things, which likely also means he took notes of stuff over time, and his accounts were some of the first in writing mainly because he was sharing with Jews the stories he had gathered with time.

The Jews who came into contact with disciples of Jesus, those who were impacted by events with his death, those who witnessed his resurrection and many more likely had questions. Because he was writing within 10 years of Jesus’ death it’s assumed that a lot of his info could have been a compilation of his notes from events, but also this means those details could have been referenced by the other gospel writers.

Luke and Mark wrote their scriptural accounts about 15 to20 years after Matthew. It’s supposed that LUKE was writing material in a detailed manner that is often attributed to how as a physician he would be noting details of types related to physical aspects and results.

MARK primarily with early Christians, partially because of his age with events and because of how he related with the Christian church/ congregational/ organizational developments. “Ancient tradition indicates that Peter provided the basic information for Mark’s Gospel.

According to ancient tradition, Mark’s gospel was first made public in Rome. Although Mark appears to have written primarily for the Romans, this record does contain [info] from the Hebrew scriptures.

” (Aid to Bible Understanding, p. 1113; 1114, 1971). That shouldn’t be a surprise if this Mark’s “Hebrew name was John”. (Aid to Bible Understanding, p. 1111, 1971). The people were distinct religiously in many ways.

but the story was the same in many respects. Differences were from how people lived and what they believed as readers. The writings of John are totally distinct because what he wrote was after living times with the early Christians being killed and hurt from belief’s about the Christ.

In addition John had witnessed the events of visions and more that caused him to write Revelations. This means his writing of the details of John often had bits and parts that were missed by those living around Jesus and other gospel writers.

This chronological Bible has shared for us a way to read through most of the Bible with a lot more insight into the historical nature of the scriptures. I love that the compilers took the time to do this for me.

In addition I appreciate that they compiled the material with aspects like the timeline of events with Judah and Israel, the writing time references they used, the additional historical notes and details that are added as references, plus footnotes that allow readers to find more info about the scriptures as they read.

The yearly timeline shared doesn’t need to be used at all for great reading through this book. I do miss that there is no separation of the Hebrew & Greek scriptural sections. BUT overall this is a great Bible to have.

While it’s not ordered canonically it does have the scripture chapters, versus listed with the reading, so an individual can pull out the classical canonical format and compare OR even read those scriptures i.

This version of the Bible is so much easier for me to read. I am enjoying reading it as close to chronologically in order as it can be. If you have had difficulties reading your Bible through, I highly recommend this version.

The book was bigger than I expected also. I bought to read in bed but a bit large for that. I am happy with the Bible, we have a hardback version. The shipping took longer than most purchases on line are.

Over all, though I am happy with this Bible.

I’m so glad to have the Bible in audio format. I got it today and started off with Psalms while putting some miles on my car. It’s amazing how God used this mp3 CD to let me hear just the right verses at just the right moment of my drive, as well as, just the right moment of my thoughts.

What a true joy. I got the dramatized version and enjoy it very much. I like how a background of each book is given before its reading. I’m looking forward to hearing the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

I bought 2 of these for my brothers who do not have time to read. They commute to work for hours each day, Now they can listen to the word of God as they travel. They both really like the dramatized version.

I have quite a few different recording of the audio Bible. I learn better when I can hear and read at the same time. This version is by far the best. The quality of the particular product I bought is superior.

It was used but in new condition. I think the shipping cost was exorbitant.

Nice set. Voices are theatrical sounding with highs and lows of a play like feel. Not suited for hearing as you drift off into sleep. The extreme variations in tones many help you to sleep in some area’s and wake you right up in others.

It defiantly gave a theater like sound/ tone. Very nice case. Not sure if this was NKJ ? or the older style of bible, more difficult to understand. I started with Charles Stanly Bible, then to Joyce Meyers Bible.

All King James but NKJ. Easier to understand for a new person starting out. But if you are well read; this is the next step and very beneficial to the growth of Faith.

This item did not work for me. First of all I started to listen to the New Testament read by James Earl Jones. All he did was pronounce words very fast as though he was running a race and it made me sick to my stomach hearing the sound of his voice so thick.

He should have never read the bible for taping. I needed to hear a voice reading slowly and with meaning, dramatized and I did not get this in this audio. I would not recommend this particular audio to anyone.

I enjoy the bible readings of the scriptures. I cannot comment on the DVD content since I have not watched yet. The bible readings are done by unknown readers with varied dramatic skills. The DVD is the only part of the set that has Bishop Jakes and the other listed celebrities.

I coach a team of Bible quizzers. The competition uses the NIV 2011 version of the Bible. Simply listening to the passages via cd or app is extremely helpful for quizzers. This resource can be used for any quiz year since it contains the entire bible.

I try to get it for $17 our less with shipping.

I absolutely love listening to the mighty word of God on this Cd set. I listen to it on my way to and from work and I am learning so much. The actors did a marvelous job bringing the bible to life. I plan on getting more for my friends and family.

I would enthusiastically recommend this CD set. Especially for those who have busy lives and can’t seem to find the time to read through the Bible. I would listen to this on my way to and from work and got through the entire New Testament in less than a Month.

For serious study or contemplation, of course, you need to read the Bible yourself. However, it’s amazing how much you can be blessed by just listening. The version used is the Revised Standard Version.

Although there is no perfect translation, the RSV seems to be a good mix being a literal and a dynamic translation, being mostly literal but dynamic enough to make it easy to understand.

Set was not complete. They did not have any access to make and send us a new disc #2. We had to do several step process to return it. Product itself is great.

I like the sound effects which really enhance the listening experience. Each character is read by a different actor and I really enjoy listening to it. I wanted to be able to hear it being read to me and there are no negative points at all.

I purchased this as a gift for my husband who is losing his eyesight. The controls are very tiny and the instructions are very hard to read, even for me and there is nothing wrong with my vision. The unit itself is tiny and lightweight which would be a plus if one didn’t need the heft of a larger unit to be able to hold on to it while feeling for buttons.

Audible books should be made for sight impaired in mind first and foremost. Also, this particular unit can only be heard with the use of earphones. I should have guessed that the price was too good to be true.

I was so happy to have found a Catholic version of the Bible and, when I saw that low price, I jumped on it so I can’t really fault the manufacturer. You get what you pay for.

This would be a great product if it had an option to use an AC adapter. Its powered by 1 AAA battery which understandably lasts a very short time. Im guessing you need high quality camera batteries or good rechargeables.

When the unit feels like working, the audio is very clear and pleasant.

It is very small, and the information in the window is difficult to read. Also the speaker does not stick exactly to what is written in the Bible. I do not like using it, and will give it away.

This is a great version of the bible. It is really easy to understand and is read in a clear English. It is much easier to pick up more from the stories in the old testament as contempory language is used.

I can’t play this in my CD player, but I gave it to a friend who can! It’s perfect, and many less CD’s than you would typically need.

If your goal is to read the Bible in one year, this Bible definitely facilities it for you. Its divided not by book but by day. Ex Jan 1 you ready portion of Genesis, a portion Matthew, a portion of Psalms and a very little portion on Proverbs.

I like it because it is very easy to read, like 15-12 min making reading easy.

I started reading through the Bible using this version when they became available in the 1980s and I would recommend them , I have read several translation through the years..

I am so glad I ordered this! It’s perfect for those struggling to find time to daily read God’s word & still get their responsibilities accomplished. Mr. Jones soothing voice creates an appropriate atmosphere for hearing God’s word, and the peaceful background music adds a special touch.

On a humorous note, I decided to start my day concentrating on the Lord while listening to one of these CDs. Sitting upright in my recliner I found I became easily distracted by things reminding me of my duties, so I closed my eyes & leaned back to listen and concentrate on God.

Well, Mr. Jones soothing voice, coupled with the calming background music, put me to sleep before he could even read the 3rd verse — and I’d just gotten up after sleeping all night! This reading brought the reality of the scriptures home to me, especially those that say He gives His beloved sleep; and Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.

I didn’t wake up for 3 hours, with the CD long ended; but it was a wonderful rest — the best I’ve had in ages — and I thank God for the opportunity to have this set. Whether driving down the highway or sweeping the floor while it plays, His word gets implanted in one’s heart and, hopefully, lived through us.

I encourage everyone to get a copy and use it daily. You’d be surprised how your outlook changes and your spiritual strength is renewed.

I became a fan of the voice of Jams Earl Jones aswell as himself as an actor. But it was first as his voice as “Darth Vader” in the movie,”StarWars”. Then his character as a wizard and high priest in the first Conan the Barbarian.

His character was a HUGE POWER with a commanding voice that was a perfect role for him. Now I have told you about the Dark commanding voices that are so reckonisable to any one that lived in the 70’s and 80’s.

Well to my surprize in this role of reading our most precious Book filled with The Words Of Our Most High God, J. E. Jones could not sound more humble and meaningful. At times he made me tear up. As a long time fan of Alexander Scourby and so many others.

James brings a new more sensative, humble and very soothing voice to Our Most Precious Book. HE WILL NOT PUT YOU TO SLEEP THOUGH. It’s more like a meditiating music I would listen to as I read and studY The Bible.

His voice just seems to combined the two elements in an even better medium. So in short if you like or need to listen to The Bible plainly spoken with even the hardest words, and names read as smoothly as the simple ones, I highly recommend This Journey read from the lips of my very 1rst voice icon of my childhood.

I think James Earl Jones has one of the greatest voices of all time. it is to bad he did not use it to its fullest on this project. it is almost a complete mono tone. I had hoped for an epic reading I was greatly disappointed.

if you want a blah reading to help you go to sleep this is for you ! the best you can do with this, is listen in the car to help keep you calm in traffic. could have been great, but is a disappointment, kept waiting for that spark.

My husband and I find it much easier to do “Bible in a year” readings with this version. It doesn’t feel overwhelming when we aren’t flipping book to book and can see that each day’s lesson is really only a couple of pages long.

Because there is so much to digest, and each time we read there is something we had missed before, we spend much time researching context and culture. This One Year Large Print Bible has print that is large enough to read (although it is not close to Guide Post or Readers Digest size font) and the arrangement makes it more likely that we will do the daily read, even on the busiest, most stressful days.

Purpose pperfect, set up for the perfect daily iinput, allowing you to take inthe right amount and the mix of Old nd New, Psalms and Proverbs. Print is great for weak eyes, it provides a gret spiritual interaction.

I oder this Bible because someone else I know is reading the bible for a year and they have one. So I decided to order this Bible and read the Bible for a year. While it is the best decision that I made and this Bible is very good.

I purchased this 64 CD Audio Bible specifically because it was a “Voice Only” edition. I did not want a “dramatized” version because I didn’t want music and characters portraying the stories – I simply wanted one person reading the Scriptures as if it were a person reading the Bible to me – and that is precisely what I got in this “Voice Only” NIV Audio Bible on 64 CDs.

It is exactly what I wanted. The reading is smooth with a perfect cadence. There is another Audio Bible available called the “Listener’s Bible” and I have that one as well, but that reader sounds like he’s trying to be a “show off” – in my opinion.

The reader of this Audion Bible is Charles Taylor and I think he does a wonderful job! He draws the attention to the text and not to himself, which I really appreciate. I also wanted the CD Audio version and not the MP3 version.

It seems to me as though it’s getting more and more difficult to get the audio version. Those were my criteria – Audio version (not MP3) and Voice Only (not dramatized) and the New International Version translation – and this 64 CD set had it all! I am so happy with my purchase.

I listen to the New Testament CDs in one location and I have the Psalms in another location and I have the Pentateuch in still another place. I highly recommend this Audio Bible – especially if you want to hear just God’s Word and not be entertained.

The CDs are in good shape as is the binder that holds them. All the ones I’ve listened to play well with no skips. I enjoy listening to the simple spoken Word with no orchestration or drama.

I actually own the full version of this audio bible, I paid about 100. 00 for it. I bought this new testament for a friend because I already knew it was well worth it. This is one review where you will not here great for the price because it is worth a whole bunch more than I paid for it at 10.

00. I find it very valuable to both read the word and listen to it. I like that you get to hear names of people not just guest how they are pronounced. I do find it different than my own reading of it but we all have our own way of interpreting or reading allowed.

I was not 100% comfortabl with a few of the actors, some are very good and some are indeed acting. It is way worth it! The full version is even better and for car rides it is the best or just playing a simple game of solitaire while obsorbing the word.
