20 Best Atomic Clock With Indoor Outdoor Temperature (2022 Updated)

I can barely see the time from the couch; nothing else can be seen unless close to the clock. Should not qualify as a wall clock because a wall clock you should be able to see everything it’s meant to show throughout the room and not merely up close as if a desk clock.

The time is the only thing big enough for a wall clock. I don’t know if I like the set up or how it keeps time yet; I finally threw my other one away that I bought only last winter that looks like this one but silver/grey; it would not keep the time at all, constantly changed the hour no matter if the weird search thing was on or not – I finally threw it on the ground to break it so I wouldn’t have the chance to keep allowing it to mess up my days and put my appts in jeopardy; hopefull this one isn’t an a/hole.

This “atomic” clock works as advertised. It gets constantly updated with the current time – accurate to the second – and, of course, the inside and outside temps. This was the primary goal – accurate time-keeping.

The outdoor sensor reports the current outdoor temperature, so you see BOTH temperatures, updated every couple of minutes. My earlier unit lasted several years until the *outdoor* sensor stopped functioning and would not “reset.

“. However, the OLD clock itself (and indoor temp) continues working as normal. LaCrosse does NOT advertise a replacement outdoor sensor being available for sale, so I bought a whole new unit. Fortunately, although the new outdoor sensor is of a different shape and size, it *still* provides temp data to the OLD indoor clock, just like the failed, older sensor did – AND sends the same temp data to the NEW indoor clock,too, which I have placed at a different location in the house.

So now I have the pleasant surprise of *one* sensor feeding BOTH the old and new clocks with valid temp data! The inside/clock batteries last 2 years. The outdoor sensor lasts one year.

I’ve used La Crosse Technology products for over twenty five years and have generally found them to be excellent products. When the older ones started to get harder to reset after battery changes I decided to get new ones and bought two of these.

I don’t like the style as well as the older ones but that is a personal choice. When I first set them up they were erratic for the first several months, sometimes correct, sometimes not. They have since settled down and are working well.

Hopefully they will continue to work correctly.

We got this clock because it gives indoor and outdoor temperatures. We hung it above a window. There is so much light that comes in the window that it’s difficult to read the digital display of the clock during the daytime.

It’s fine at night when sunlight is not streaming in the window. Great to have outdoor temperature right there on the clock without having to ask Alexa.

this clock is a recognizable name brand, has a nice, classic look, is less flimsy than others selling at a higher price, it is easy to read, and, as mentioned, is very well priced. most of the features on this atomic clock were up and running beautifully within 24 hours of my inserting the batteries.

i am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the sensor still hasn’t kicked in for displaying outdoors temperature despite my changing the clock’s location and direction several times. no go. the easy-to-understand manual instructs holding the “plus” button down for several seconds to manually activate this sensor.

tried that, but it didn’t help either. still hoping it will automatically kick in at some point. the outdoor temperature reading was not the clock’s most important feature for me so it doesn’t bother me as much as it might bother others; but still, i’d like to figure out how to make the feature work.

overall, good buy, nice product.

This clock was worth every penny, it’s beautiful and large and looks great on a smaller wall. I love seeing the time and temp without having to open my phone, it make a the room look nice as well, the only thing I would change is if it had a backlight that went on in the dark but I wouldn’t like the led look during the day so this is preferable.

If you are thinking about getting this go for it , it will make your life a bit easier.

This clock has to be activated with a radio signal from a base in the US. Newfoundland is as far East as One can go in Eastern Canada. I was unsuccessful in receiving a signal, the poor little icon searched and searched.

Marconi received the first radio signal from Europe with his mast on Signal Hill St. John’s. I sat with my clock on the same spot no luck. I can only assume we are too far East. I tried for a week in different weather.

Returned the clock to Best Buy.

Nice looking clock, with print that’s nice and big. I especially wanted a clock that also shows the day and date. But you can’t see the display in low light which is most of the winter and probably fall.

Totally defeating the purpose of having a large clock with large print. I looked around at all the other wall clocks in the house and they were all easy to read in the same light. Leaves me reluctant to buy a clock online, cos this is the last thing I expected to be a problem.

Bought this clock for my mother who is having issues remembering what day it is. Nice display easy to read. The backlight does not work when it is on the battery but other than that it is perfect.

The clock looks very nice but has never set itself from the Atomic clock in Colorado. This is actually the second one of these I have had. I returned the first one because I thought it was just defective.

I have tried every single one of the recommendations they all made to get it to work correctly on both clocks and it will not. I even set it on a chair by a west facing window one night and no, it didn’t get set correctly.

I set it outside overnight on our westerly facing porch and again no. So I’ll just use it like the old battery powered desk clock it replaced. Sad. I do not recommend any of these so called ATOMIC CLOCKS unless you just like their other features because they do not set to accurate Atomic Time.

I’m so glad that I have my La Crosse Atomic Clock, not only does it tell me the time but also the temperatures inside and outside which is very important to me. It was very well package for shipping and easy to set up.

This clock was bought as a birthday gift for my adult daughter. I have one similar and hoped she would like it. She does! The data shown on this clock is handy and accurate. Both things helpful.

Replaced my old La Crosse Atomic clock that I had for years. The clock still worked but the sensor stopped. Cheaper to replace both than just the sensor. Love the Oak color. Large numbers are very easy to read.

Having been into precision time since my years in broadcasting I find the NIST 60Khz precision atomic clock based time signal from radio station WWVB in Fort Collins, CO; to be consistently reliable and upgraded a few years ago to offer greater coverage of the time signal.

This La Crosse model actually keeps closer time sync that than other “atomic clocks” currently operational in the house. And it did not have any blemishes on the case or within the display. It looks factory new.

It has a one button “search” for the radio signal requiring no resetting or battery removal to test various locations withing a building. This is the first atomic clock of many owned that will sync in daylight hours at 1000 miles from the transmitter.

Previous clocks would only sync over night when the radio signal was stronger. This is a great La Crosse atomic wall or free standing clock at an even greater price.

I purchased 2 units to use in separate rooms, to replace old analog quartz movement clocks. I installed enerloop rechargeable AA batteries. Each clock synchronized to the atomic clock radio signal in a few minutes and automatically set the time and date.

I selected my time zone manually. The display is large and easy to read, even in low ambient light. Temperature display is a handy extra feature. Design style and color fits nicely with room decor. Good quality and great bargain!.

Cons: The numbers are hard to read. The digital read-out is distorted. You almost have to be looking straight at it. The temps third number is very small and hard to see. I set it for central time, but several times it changed time zones.

It hasn’t done that for awhile now. Pros: The date & time is correct, so the atomic feature is good. The temp appears to be correct when comparing to other thermometers in the home The first place I put it was in the living room but because of the “cons” above, I moved it to the bathroom.

It’s worked out much better in there. if you would like to put a clock in the bathroom and because of the low price, I would recommend it.

I knew before I bought it that the USB charging port only outputs 1A but it would be nice if the updated that to work better with the fast charge higher amp requirements of many of today’s devices. The other thing I don’t like is that to turn off the alarm when it sounds you have to turn off the switch for that alarm setting which means you need have to remember to turn it back on.

Most alarm clocks I’ve every had featured a way to silence the alarm without having to turn it off. Yes there is a sleep option but that just means the alarm will go off again. On the plus side it’s very easy to read even from across the room or at night without having to put on your glasses.

Worked great for 18 months. I loved this clock and now it doesn’t work. I had to go on to figure out where I bought it just to find out I’ve only had it for a year and a half. I loved it. Dual alarm.

Resets own time for time change. Easy to use for husband who is tech challenged. Now though, the light on the clock will not stay lit for more than a few seconds to see the time and then goes completely dark.

Have to push the light button in the back to bring the light on, and still only lasts a second or 2 (regardless of time of day- there is a setting at 2am where this will dim, this is not the case). I’ve unplugged it, changed batteries, reset it and tried everything.

Luckily I had a backup alarm for work today or I wouldn’t have waken up because the clock when I woke up today was off of the time and never went off. I think it’s done working properly now. Not worth $35 if it’s not going to last.

We had an old, old clock radio that wasn’t keeping the correct time, so I decided to upgrade to this atomic clock from AcuRite. The product was easy to install (simply plug it in), and works just fine.

The dimmer light is great, because my wife cannot stand too much extra light in our bedroom. The only drawback, that some other buyers have referred to, is you must be looking straight on to see the display; a small issue but it doesn’t take away from the efficiency of keeping the correct time.

My old one from Sharper Image just quit working. Had the outdoor temperatures and I loved that feature. My fault for not reading description thoroughly, but didn’t notice this version doesn’t have that feature.

Really miss it but will keep clock anyway. But I’m disappointed.

We have the clock in the middle of the wall so that it can be seen as soon as we wake up. The only thing we didn’t like was that we had to buy a sensor separate from the initial buy in order to get outside temperatures.

I purchased almost the same item about 10 years ago from Sharper Image. I thought I had broke it when I dropped it but after getting this new one I monkeyed with the battery connection and it started working, so yes it will last forever.

The only thing that I really miss is the outside temperature reading. Other then that it seems to be exactly the same. Anyways now I have 2 and will use both. Once you have one and can read it 2 rooms away you’ll love it.

Have had this clock for about five years. When I first got it, I just put it aside for travel. Then when I moved into this house, I plugged it in in my walk-in closet just keep track of the time. I still have friends and relatives that dont keep an alarm clock in their guest bedrooms I am an insomniac and at times really want to be able to see what the time of night is.

Its also very convenient to have the charging port right at the bedside. I dont have any particular problems with clocks being too bright, so Ive never adjusted it. I do like that when I plug it in in a different room, I dont have to worry about resetting it.

Ive just recently been traveling, so I had it with me. Im going to buy this one to stay in the basement, and then Ill have my travel one ready to go. Really cant think of any problems with it to justify any less than five stars.

The clock has a beautiful display (with the previously mentioned viewing problems if you are a bit off angle), has 24 hour mode (more later) and syncs up easily to WWVB (you might note from my nickname I’m in a good place for WWVB reception).

It’s a really nice clock IMO. My problem is since it does 24 hour display I incorrectly assumed I could use it for international UTC time (formally GMT time) as WWVB sends out UTC time. But it can only be setup for seven times zones and none of them are UTC.

So I am back to searching for a 24 hour atomic clock that will do UTC.

I really like this alarm clock. It resets itself for daylight saving time and of course being linked to the Atomic Clock it is spot on for accuracy. The display is dimmable so as to not disturb sleep, and can even be turned off.

Having battery backup it does not lose time and require a fresh link after intermittent power outages. When power is restored the display lights back up to the correct time. I find the temperature and humidity displays useful too.

So why not 5 stars? In the past 5 years I have had two fail. the original early on and it’s replacement recently when the dim display went away leaving the choice of bright or off. Despite this I looked and bought identical replacement(s) because of the features.

I think this model is out of production. Another con, but typical of atomic clocks, it will not link up if placed near other electronic devices, and the display has to turn off while it links up. That also turns off the phone charging feature and when it comes back on, the phone might provide disturbance depending on your phone.

Very pleased. I wanted a quiet clock and that was the driving factor. I wasn’t sure about the digital look after having conventional but it fits in beautifully and is just the right size above the sink in a mid-size kitchen.

Day/date display, that I thought was useless, is actually quite useful. Keeps great time and there was no problem picking up the atomic signal. East wall in GB, WI.

The clock is easy to read from but the most extreme downward angle. Keeps excellent time if the time signal from WWVB is available in the early morning hours. It does have one quirk, though. The clock starts to look for the time signal every morning starting at 1:00 a.

m. , and this search is signified by a blinking tower icon. If the clock finds the signal and successfully synchronizes, the tower icon stays on steadily. At 2:00 a. m. , however, the clock starts the procedure again — even though it found a good signal at 1:00 a.

m. The procedure repeats at 3:00 a. m. , even though good signals were received at 1:00 and 2:00 a. m. This behavior seems to unnecessarily consume battery capacity. I asked LaCrosse Technology about this issue for another, similar clock I bought from Walmart, but they couldn’t explain it to my satisfaction.

Other than this curious little quirk, the clock woks well.

Purchased on of these as a replacement for another atomic clock that was no longer functioning properly. Wish I’d saved my money! This thing has a lot of trouble picking up the radio signal that sets the time and can’t hold it for any length of time if it does acquire it.

La Crosse Technology’s customer service is an exercise in frustration. All they do is make excuses for the feeble performance of their product. Save your money and look at another brand.

This is the prettiest clock; matches our décor so well. It was great for a month and then the outside temperature flipped out. We completely restarted the clock and all was well for another week; it flipped out again.

I’ve had atomic clocks for years and never had this problem; very disappointing. I returned it to the Walmart store and bought the only one they have in stock in the store which I really think is ugly.

Works great! Looks just like photo. Comes with outdoor sensor. Needs 4 AA batteries, 2 for sensor, 2 for clock. Has flip out easel stand option. Or can hang. Husband loves it! I do, too. Tells indoor and outdoor temp, date and day, plus time, which is set electronically.

Very practical.

It is very attractive and easy to read. The correct time showed up within 2 hours from when I set it up. I had set it in the window facing north west and then put it on my desk. I would prefer the moon to the outside temp.

I’m not so sure the reading of the outside temp could be accurate since I don’t have the accessory piece to put outside. I’m wondering how that works although it seems to be accurate but probably not exact.

Would like some input on that.

It took a little while for the clock to register the Correct outdoor temperature and it is a few inches bigger than its replacement, but it is a fantastic clock. The clock it is replacing still works but losses signal on the outdoor temperature every now a then but considering it is 12 years old speaks volumes as to how good these clocks work.

I feel sure I will enjoy this clock for many years to come. Really glad they enlarged the instruction book and reduced it down to one page instead of the little booklet my old clock came with.

The clock is perfect for my father’s needs. The date/day of the week/indoor-outdoor temps, clock, and moon phase are clearly indicated and easy to read & grasp. The difficulty in the setup was that I tripped over the instructions, several times, trying to grasp the manual setup versus the automatic setup.

There is also an instructional video on how to set up at the manufacturer’s website. That was also frustrating but offered some insight that the manual didn’t. The best thing to do, is insert the batteries in the sensor & then in the clock, & then let the atomic clock in Colorado automatically set up all of the functions rather than trying to do it manually.

It worked like a charm when I let the automatic setup work.

This is a very useful clock. I am very grateful it comes with a 12/24 hour display setting. It’s an atomic clock, so it only needs the time zone set and the radio receiver does the rest. It also automatically adjusts for Daylight Savings Time, which could also be turned off for those areas that don’t use DST.

I also enjoy having the option of viewing either Celsius or Fahrenheit, because not all countries use F, so it’s a useful learning tool. You can adjust the other display functions, such as displaying only the indoor/outdoor temperature with the seconds instead of the other temperature.

The moon phase took me a little to understand. The white, or empty part of the display corresponds to the part of the moon which is obscured. The dark section is actually the lit phase. If there was something about this clock that I wish could be different, it would be the alarm feature, and the style.

It would be nice if the display could fill more of the clock. I’m not sure why the sides have to be chrome; I think it would look better if the sides were a dimpled, or rough textured black. The other problem I have is the alarm.

As an alarm clock, it is rather large and unwieldy. I don’t know of anyone who’d want to use a big wall clock as an alarm clock (the on/off snooze are little buttons in the center of the back – impractical).

I suggest that they should replace the alarm function with an hourly chime, which I really miss having.

I bought this clock to replace the exact same model I bought 4 years ago when it was $40. 00 less than it is now. The display on this clock randomly starts flashing and I have to reset it. I have done this several times in the last month.

Now, along with that, it does not show the exact time EVEN after updating with the atomic clock. This is the third clock of this model I have owned and it is a piece of junk. I will never purchase this brand again.

A name brand, good quality atomic clock that also has outside temp has become hard to find. I was excited to find this brand name atomic clock to replace one I have that never did sync the time and is always wrong.

The description, which did not include dimensions, indicates “Jumbo Atomic Clock”, with 4. 25″ numbers being the only measurement listed. I wrongly assumed that the big numbers were the “jumbo” in the description.

Wrong! This clock turned out to be incredibly huge. Comically huge! The clock I have has 4″ numbers, along with date, temps, etc. , and it is less than half the size of this one. I can’t see any reason other than looking for a “statement piece” for your room, to purchase this clock.

This coupled with the fact that it takes “C” batteries. I don’t stock “C” batteries. What, besides an old flashlight, would take “C” batteries? This turned out to be a huge (no pun intended) disappointment.

I do take partial responsibility for this disaster, but, Wal-Mart was not real clear with the description either.

I was really looking forward to receiving this clock as it seemed perfect for my needs. Setting it up was a challenge in itself. Set buttons are in back, however, the clock is so big you have a difficult time trying to figure out how to use the right buttons yet see what you are doing on the clock.

Mode setting button appeared not to work at all at first. Even now it is still difficult to get it to go into set mode. Twice now I have set the clock and both times the next morning the clock has fallen two hours back.

I have no idea how to get this thing to work properly. I am highly disappointed and frustrated with this purchase. For the price you pay for this thing, you would think that the quality and functionality would be higher end.

Not the case. Appears to be very cheaply made. I’m ready to get rid of it, I am that disappointed with it. However, now that I have it out of the box, I am not even certain they would let me return it.

If I could return it, I would do so in a heartbeat.

Bought this clock for the “atomic” Set itself and works great. Only problem with it was that the nut holding the hands was loose and had to take clock apart to put nut back on and tighten it Hands would not move, hooked up on each other until freed them.

Took couple of days to figure out what was wrong with clock. Clock would set itself but when hung on wall, didn’t have correct time. Nut fell completely off before realizing the problem.

The clock is beautiful and easy to set up. It quickly captures the radio signal and the hands move confidently to the correct time … minus 7 minutes. It remains exactly 7 minutes behind, no matter how many times I go through the setup procedure or how long I let it run.

As the previous reviewer stated, it’s as if the minute hand was attached incorrectly at the factory.

Decent looking clock for its price. Fairly easy to set up and initiate automatic time feature. However, this particular clock is exactly one minute off. It has reset set itself several times and is still one minute off.

I assume the clock hands were not properly placed on the spindle at the factory. Irritating but not enough to send the clock back.

I had to shop online this year due to the pandemic. As I was shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond, I saw the atomic clocks. I’ve had one for years and loved it. So I thought what better gift than a clock! It gives you the indoor and the outdoor temperature along with the date and the day of the week and of course always the accurate time.

So I ordered 12. Everyone has responded back thanking me for choosing a unique and useful gift! It was a win-win for me – I could shop safely and the gift was well liked and appreciated. Thanks for having those available in your store.

I got this clock (4/18/20)-7 months ago- and had no problems and love it. The outside sensor is on the north side of garage. 2 days ago temp was blinking and “stuck” Changed the batteries (3X!!!!!!) and can get temp down my hall, but not 0utside.

Any suggestions???? BTW another clock/temp -different brand but older , stopped giving me the temp in my 3 seasons room. Both within days of each other!!!! No luck with changing batteries, reset button, , etc/.

I like the slim design and clean lines. It’s easy to set. Shows internal temperatures correctly, but outdoor sensor is faulty. We have to take everything down and reset everything every couple of days.

Spend more and get a brand name one that works.

LaCrosse BBB86118 Weather station review. My current LaCrosse weather station quit me after about 10 years, actually the outside sensor quit. The weather stations now retired to my shop. I got on the internet to replace my station and I read some bad reviews on LaCrossse but I decided to go with my past experience with them and I purchased the BBB86118.

It has a huge display that I can see from one room to the next. The outside sensor is exact on the temperature. I’m very happy so far, I hope this station last 10 years!!!.

Bought this for my dad who is in a nursing home. It’s ok but would be better if it was backlit. Seniors who have vision difficulties cannot see it very well. Remote for outdoor temperature is a nice feature as long as there is a window nearby.

Hanging is a challenge because the indents are very shallow.

We were initially pleased with the Atomic clock. However, it stopped working one month after we purchased it. We returned it to our local Bed Bath & Beyond, and they graciously let us exchange it with the same clock which they had in stock.

We’ve only had the new one about 1 1/ 2 weeks and so far it is working fine. We are hopeful this new one will continue to work properly because we do like the clock.

A few years ago, I purchased a La Crosse Atomic Clock (different model), which is still keeping excelent time, because it is connected with the WWVB signal in Ft Collins, Colorado. It is very important to have the front or back of the clock facing Ft Collins.

Who knows where Ft Collins is in reference to Oahu, right?. I have the backs of 2 clocks (I have 3) facing Pearl Harbor, which connected to the WWVB signal, and the 3rd clock’s back is facing Waipahu and isn’t connected to the WWVB signal.

However, it still is keeping excellent time. I know it can connect to the WWVB signal because I had it positioned like the other clocks and it was connected before I moved it. The numbers are huge so you can easily read it from a distance.

Note: I purchased another cheaper La Crosse Atomic clock and returned it to the Bed Bath and Beyond store in Pearl City because it just wouldn’t connect to the WWVB signal. Someone there informed me that the store stopped selling these clocks because they just can’t work in Hawaii.

I told him that he was wrong because I had a clock that worked. I’m not sure if the reason this clock works is because it has a separate outdoor sensor which is to measure the humidity and temperature outside.

Maybe it helps with the WWVB reception. It may be because this clock was a little more expensive, but very affordable and therefore I’m assuming that it’s better made and has better components. I’m so very happy because all of our clocks read the same time now.

It used to be where we had one clock with the correct time, another that was 10 minutes fast and another that was 7 minutes slow. I know that there are many of you with the same problem.

I dropped my old clock and messsed it up. I looked at the new color display clocks, but I like this much better than the new color clocks which require a 120v plugin to continuously display the time and temp.

The display is visible over a wide angle (better than other brands I tried). It has connection to an external temperature sensor. It has only one communication frequency with the external temperature sensor, thus one can not use two of these clocks with each having its own temperature sensor.

After buying the new clock I was able to fix my old clock and now have two clocks, but use only one temperature sensor.

I have had several of these clocks and I really love them because they tell me the time, as well as, all the temperature things I want to know about 🙂 I started having issues with the clocks with black trim because of the placement on the wall and the shadowing of the numbers, I simply couldn’t make out the time.

I discovered If you have a white or silver trim around the numbers you don’t get the shadowing. I wish they made a smaller one and I would like a different wood grain choice on the sides. But that doesn’t impact how great this clock works.

I think the price is high by about $10 so be sure you take your 20% off coupon.

I had a different model of this clock , which lasted 11 years. I hope I get as good service out of this clock. I do like the improved arrangement of the date and time. My other clock had a big area that showed the phases of the moon.

Who cares about the phases of the moon ? Maybe, werewolves. Anyway this clock set itself , as described in the instructions , and we live in an area where the temps range from -20 to about 95 and we do enjoy knowing the temp when we get up , and other times of the day.

Make no mistake , this clock does it all , and we just love it.

We use this clock to set the family watches for transportation requests. The remote (can be outdoor) temperature wireless input is a nice feature. The display is large and easy to see as long as the angle of view is close to 90 degrees to the face of the unit.

Too far right or down and the numbers are hard to read (I have not tried left or up). This is normal for liquid crystal displays which are good for battery life. The time update function works better than on a similar one I purchased some years ago.

This clock is absolutely amazing. I absolutely love that it shows the time, day, inside and outside temperature. It was a little tricky to set up the clock but once we figured it out it was great. The only complaint I have is the outside temperature.

It took 20 minutes for it to register. We put the batteries in and did exactly what the directions said and nothing. The light didn’t light up. We took the batteries out and changed the number again and it blinked.

We waited and again nothing. So we moved on to another number. After doing this 7 times we finally gave up. About 20 minutes later the temperature showed up. Other than this it’s definitely worth it once it starts working.

I love that you can hang it on the wall or set it on your dresser. It’s pretty awesome. I also love that there’s no wires so you can literally take it anywhere with you. I definitely recommend this clock.
