20 Best At Home A1C Test Kit (2022 Updated)

I buy this kit and keep it around so that I can keep up with where my A1C is without waiting to go to the doctor’s office. Sometimes it may be off a point or so from my doctor’s test, but it’s always within an acceptable range.

A very excellent product! Highly recommend!!.

bought a 10 count kit since it was cheaper that way. tested with this then had blood work done the next day. this test showed 8. 4, blood test came up 9. 5. Called the manufacturer & they replaced the 10 count kit and then had me redo the test & it was 8.

8 – they even admitted it’s outside of “normal. ” Then 2 weeks later I did another test (I’m OCD & like to do one on the 1st of each month) – it was 7. 9 so in 30 days & 4 A1c NOW tests later, it was all over the place – this is not even a test that can help you monitor how you’re doing.

This test says it’s 99% accurate but when I called the manufacturer they said it can be off by 6% to be considered accurate. They were going to run tests on the kit I sent back & let me know what they discovered as to why the tests were off so much but they’ve never called me back.

They also do NOT give refunds on unused tests. I will NEVER buy this product again – & in fact the manufacturer told me they sell their product to Dr offices for them to run a1c on their patients – knowing that – I will NEVER let them do a finger stick a1c again either.

A1c Now is likely the best home A1c tester. I would recommend checking a test against a lab A1c done on the same day since it appears the device (meter) and the quality instructions have changed from a year ago.

I have been getting readings about 0. 5% below previous checks which were spot on with the lab. So keep this in mind until I can test this new batch against an actual laboratory based A1c measurement.

Other A1c monitors on the market have been consistently off the mark as a test I did about one year ago of all available monitors at that time. A1c Now is easy to use if you have done one before. If not, do a dry run through the steps first otherwise you will burn one or two tests due to errors in technique or timing.

The meter is good at picking this up. Great tester otherwise and for the price a bargain A1c measurement.

The HbA1c test that the Doctor orders to monitor blood sugar is expensive and time consuming. The product I purchased contains enough items for 20 tests. Can be done at home – allow 30 mins The kit with 20 tests costs the same as one test from the Doctor – when one allows for time, travel, waiting rooms etc.

Had an A1C test done on Monday before my annual checkup on Wednesday. I tested 6.4 on Monday. Tested 7.1 at the doctors office on Wednesday.

I placed an order for One Touch Ultra Blue testing strips on April 5, 2021 and received delivery on April 10, 2021. The box of strips had an expiration date of April 30, 2021. I had not used all of my previous supply so didn’t need these right away.

I still had a week supply. Now I have 50 strips to use before new expiration date. Impossible. The company Medical Wholesale Outlet sent me that will expire at end of month. I was told strips deteriorate very rapidly and would not give a accurate reading.

Lessoned learned. Do not buy anything online that has an expiration dat. I do not blame Walmart.

I just received two boxes of One touch Ultra test strips. The first box is scheduled to expire November 30, 2022 and the second box is going to expire January 1, 2023. I can only assume this is why the strips was so inexpensive to purchase.

In the future, I will buy my test strips from a brick and mortar drugstore to ensure my strips will last longer than five months.

There was nothing at all that indicated the test strips would have a nearly expired date (approx. 1-2 mos until the expiration). The boxes were sealed but somewhat compromised. Perhaps they came from a retailer with OLD stock, but it appears the boxes may have previously been in someone else’s household.

Until this purchase, and further research, I had no clue there are companies that purchase old test strips from the general public. I find that as a health concern. There was a paper in the box; however, it was nothing that resembled a “receipt” with the purchase price or return info, etc.

Walmart’s website originally indicated a return date further out than what it currently shows and now I can not return the product. From this point on, I will gladly pay the higher cost from a Costco pharmacy.

I am a first time diabetic, so I was worried about using the meter to monitor my blood sugar levels. The instructions were very clear on how to set the monitor up so it is ready for use. The package comes with a meter, test sticks, lancets, lacing device, control solution and a bag to keep all of the stuff in.

The bag holds each item in a spot to keep the meter and items safe and easy to grab it on the go. Once the meter has been set up and ready for use, it was very easy to test my blood for the first time.

First, you need to wash you hands to keep the meter and items clean. Then you can turn the meter on and easily place a test stick in the device and place the lancet in the device. Depending where I am, I may wash my hands again to ensure that they are clean.

Then I pull the top part of the lacing device back and place the lacing device up against the finger and press the button to draw blood. I, then place my finger up to the test stick and it will absorb the blood into the device.

It takes 10 seconds for the meter to read my blood level. I enjoy that the display is large and easy to read and I am able to hold the meter in my hand if I desire. So far, I have really enjoyed using this product to self monitor my blood sugar levels.

I have been diabetic for more than 10 years and have had dozens of glucose meters. The best machines are simple to use but still have the latest technology. The True Metrix blood glucose meter is a great simple machine.

I have been using this along with my older meter that is about a year and a half old and both have showed very similar readings, only being maybe a point or two different between the two machines. I like that the machine is simple, probably the most simple machine I have seen in a long time.

On start up, you just set the time and date and you can start using. To use, you just plug in your test strip and it turns on. It takes only a tiny drop of blood and only takes a few seconds to show the results.

My only complaint is that the screen is hard to read, if your not in a bright-lite room. I just use my phone’s light when it is dark, but a back light would be nice. Overall, this is a great machine for everyone who is diabetic.

I am going to get another one as a back-up as soon as I get home.

I began using the True Metrix Self Monitoring Blood Glucose Meter few weeks ago. I love all of the handy features it has! It comes with a carrying case which is perfect for on the go, I take it to work and every where I go.

This is the first meter I have used that has life event tagging, so I can tag when I check my sugar, if it’s before a meal, exercise, or after, if I’m sick, or before meds, that feature comes in handy with tracking and monitoring my levels.

This meter is super accurate and works very fast. There is a function for testing reminder alarms which would be good if you were to forget to monitor, especially if the doctor has you on new medication and you need to monitor it frequently.

The display is large and easy to read. The memory stores the date and time, and another feature is you can average the weekly blood glucose level or even monthly! It is perfect for what I need. I’ll never buy another one.

I’ve been a diabetic for over 25 years and used different models of blood glucose meters. This is by far the worst machine I’ve ever used. I’m on my third meter from the company and they keep giving me the same error message #5.

I’ve called them 4 different times and all they keep doing is sending me a new meter and it does the same thing every time. It might actually work like 2 times a week. If I could get a different meter from companies I have used in the past I would but my insurance will only pay for this brand.

I am currently with no insurance so I am using Good RX for my strips. After 3 tests in A row with a error 2 customer service advised it could be the meter or the test strips I took a test as asked and realized it was not the meter,Customer service did not seem to care that this is a costly issue for me and ended the call My husband gets insurance in 60 days and you can bet I will not use this product again Sorry I needed to write this at this time when money seems to be a problem.

Sometimes I have to do a read 3 or 4 times to get the right one. I like using this product though because it is so easy to understand and it is fast. All of the testers I have tried are the same way so I don’t bother to look for another one.

Part of the reason I don’t get the results I want is due to the fact that I don’t always make the best food choices. I have better luck with this product if I stay on a strict diet with very little sugar or fruit and starchy food.

This is the reason I have purchased this product on several occasions and will continue to do so. I do NOT like to rate this produce every time I purchase it. Why don’t you check with customers who do not return.

Portable easy to use. : interface to mobile a little glitchy but the information is good. I am not diabetic, I use this to monitor my blood sugar on a general basis as I have other health conditions.

This is a great device but does not replace doctors or hospitals. All way seek medical advice from a medical professional. This just give a you a guide and some piece of mind.

Tester is easy to use and not complex to handle. Good for people who want a unit to carry with them when away from home. Zipper cover has room for the strips and lancer (Do not forget the new needle cassettes).

I was running short on my diabetic supplies and saw that Walmart carried my brand of test strips ! I was very excited to order them since I test my blood sugar 4 times a day ! I just received a kidney transplant on 7/13/22 so I was very appreciated with Walmart for having them ! Excellent job on getting them to me in a timely manner! Thank you.

This is a good product. So far it does not fail providing a good reading. It is not expensive and easy to handle. It helps anyone caring his/her health to take control of the diabetes. Such product could help to monitor our health and watch for the well being of our health.

Very easy to use, consistent accuracy, the app that supports it is the crowing glory. The lance that comes with it is the best I have ever used. Test strips can be found at reasonable prices on eBay always check prices.

The pouch that holds monitor, test strips, lance and spare lancets is the same size as my S10, so fits easily in your pocket if you need to take it with you. Was using Glucokey, rediculous high readings, so inaccurate.

I have type 2 and just check fasting BG, the Contour system helps keep me on track with diet. I highly recommend it.

I have been using Contour USB for many years until the display on one of the two units I have gave up. The display on the second USB unit is not bright either, even though it has not been used much. So, I bought the Contour One.

I did not like the new one for the following reasons: 1- no longer a rechargeable batter. Instead, uses two batteries, costing more in the long run and would require a trip to buy batteries. 2- Not as accurate as USB.

I have tested the reading of USB against that of the lab work and has been really close but Contour One shows 7 points higher.

I think the bad reviews here are from people who didn’t swab correctly — a good swab will be somewhat uncomfortable (but *not* painful!) and trigger that reflex that makes you tear up when you sneeze sometimes.

You also need to rotate the swab around your nasal cavity a few times to ensure you’re picking up enough sample cells to test for. For people crying “false negative!” because they had a doctor administered test a few hours or (more commonly) 1-2 days after getting a negative binax result, well of course you did — the virus (which takes around 2 days to incubate to the point of illness in the first place) had more time to replicate and grow your viral load in the time it took you to be seen at a testing site; but honestly if people aren’t realizing that the virus doesn’t sit in some sort of time vacuum in their body between home and office tests, then it seems likely that they aren’t the type of people who would fully read or follow the testing instructions accurately either.

I purchased 2 packs of these (4 tests total), split between my SO and myself. We were both vaccinated 7 months ago (me: moderna, him: Pfizer), and he had a Pfizer booster 3-4 weeks prior to us getting caught up in the city’s omicron wave.

I was significantly sicker than he was but initially thought it was flu and took my first test 3-4 days in when I started feeling really ill and having breathing problems; my test was a strong positive within 2 minutes, his was an extremely faint / barely visible in bright lighting positive that took a while to develop (we initially thought it was negative) and he was not yet really symptomatic at the time.

2 days later (when he was fully symptomatic), he also had a strong positive. 5 days after my initial positive test when my fever had stopped for over 24 hours but still wasn’t recovered, I took my second test and again got a strong positive within 2 minutes.

These work really well if you get a good swab and follow the instructions. And if you are reading this and not sick yet, get your vaccine and/or booster now! Even though the vaccines weren’t designed for omicron, they can still help keep you alive and set your immune system up to more quickly recognize and eradicate the new variant.

My SO was much less ill than me and he was sick for 20-30% of the amount of time I was sick for; I’m incredibly grateful that my vaccination at least kept it from being any worse than it was (because it was brutal).

I am a med tech working in the second largest hospital in Illinois. You can’t get treatment without knowing your status and you can’t take steps to protect those your family and coworkers if you don’t know if that sniffle and sore throat is the start of covid or just seasonal allergies.

We are all in this together and testing an act of love so you can take steps not to expose others to the virus. This test is not as sensitive as PCR so mask and distance if you have symptoms even if the result is negative.

Read the directions carefully before you start and follow them exactly to avoid false results. Take several tests over time especially if you continue to have symptoms (it’s not just the furnace coming on line for the first time).

Always think of all of health and welfare of the people you come into contact with when you suspect an exposure or have symptoms. All of humanity is connected and can only break the chain with isolation.

I have three kits at home at all times because exposure to my fellow HCW would damage the operations at the hospital. Report a positive to your doctor because it is critical that they know your status and that the health department knows the true number of cases in the area.

This information is communicated to hospitals so they can gear up for the next wave of admissions. Knowing as early as possible also helps high risk people seek treatment as soon as possible. I pray for a time where we can throw these kits away and hug everyone we meet.

My daughter had been in contact with a confirmed COVID case and fell on the Saturday morning after Thanksgiving. That night is when we found out a family member tested positive (only symptom was a sinus infection.

) On Sunday my daughter was pretty sick with a fever, etc. I had a sneaking feeling she had caught the plague. As a worried mother I had to know if my daughter was infected, as COVID is not a sickness I am used to nursing.

I was able to find some at Walgreens for a great price and hurried home. The test says to wait 15 minutes, but my daughter’s test had two pink lines within 30 seconds. The next day I had a PCR test to confirm and it was also positive.

I was forced to get my vaccine or loose my job, but after this I have a new respect for it. Even though my daughter had covid there was no way I was not going to baby her as any loving mother would. I slept next to her, drank off the same straw, kisses and hugs, etc.

I was not going to make my daughter feel like she was an outcast! I tested myself every other day and everytime I was negative. I even kept testing my daughter and everytime hers was positive. The tests work and they are very easy to use, just make sure you follow the directions; especially the nose swab! You will read to do 5 big circles, but you have to do at least 5 big circles in 15 seconds! Don’t just twist the q-tip, you have circulate it.

Yeah. my fiance did it which is why I am emphasizing. Anyways, the test is affordable. I got a box for 23. 00 which contained 2 tests!!! That is a great deal to put your worries at ease! I have now used approx 17 boxes in my household and they have not dissapointed!.
