Amps for mids and highs are devices that amplify the sound of an audio signal. They are used to increase the volume of the signal, as well as to improve the quality of the sound. Mids and highs are the frequencies that are most important for the human ear, so amplifying these frequencies can have a significant impact on the overall sound quality.
There are many different types of amps for mids and highs, each with its own unique set of features and benefits. Choosing the right amp for your needs can be a daunting task, but it is important to consider all of your options before making a purchase.
The dB45 is a class AB 4 channel high power amplifier with 3,200 watts peak output, 1,600 watts RMS output, and 800 watts CEA-2006 rated power. You should use this rating when comparing with ratings from brands such as Hifonics, Earthquake, DB Drive, etc.
This peak power is the amount of power the amp puts out at the loudest moments during a particular song. This amp has a fully adjustable 12dB/Octave crossover with differential circuitry. Other features include a subsonic filter, a fully adjustable bass equalizer, and mute and delay soft start technology.
The dB45 is protected by a full IC controlled circuit and has professional peak limiter circuitry guaranteeing distortion free music playback at all levels. The dB amps by Rockville use the top parts and components recommended by Rockville’s very own engineer.
They perform more efficiently resulting in even dB of sound.
The amp tests and dyno results for this amp, speak louder than words. If you’re on the fence, read the truthful reviews and watch the dyno testing. You’ll see this amp is all it says it is. The reviews claiming otherwise either have major wiring issues or don’t know how to properly set the gain dials or flip the switches.
After spending the last 4 months pouring over best value amps I decided on the Rockville db25. I built a custom enclosure for my Toyota Tacoma that houses dual 12″ Sundown Audio SA-12’s running 4ohm DVC’s.
My previous amp made the dual 12’s work but they were underserved. I got the amp within days and you can’t beat the price. Installation was quick, the set screw terminals are well made and all-around nice quality.
Each 12″ sub has a 750 watt RMS rating and this amp delivered. It immediately tripped the earthquake valve on my house’s gas meter and made my 9 year old son nearly cry. I haven’t been this stoked about a car audio purchase in a long time.
This amp hammers so incredibly hard, it gets my top recommendation – whether you’re on a budget or not. Besides, you’ll need the extra money for replacing the windshield that pops out of your car if you set the gain to max.
The new XTR Amplifier line offers more models than before to adjust to the requirements of the installer. The XTR series innovates by offering the best power in their Class D Mono Subwoofer Amplifier series.
When you pick these up you know you got your money’s worth. From the aluminum heatsink to the XTR logo silkscreening on top, to the high-quality RCA inputs. it looks so good I was legitimately upset that I had to hide it under my seat.
I was blown away to see that the thing has 3×40 amp fuses which leads me to believe this is a rebranded XtR 1000. 4 which I can’t even find any evidence of existing besides on their website. while other brands are going to those new cheap Chinese pot metal power and speaker inputs/outputs Orion is staying true to the customer by using high-quality old-school models and not cutting corners like even focal is doing.
I guess none of this would matter if it didn’t sound good but boy does it. This class AB amp has some serious punch and crystal-clear vocals. Buy one now before orion cuts cost and puts out a cheaper t model to replace this like every other companies doing.
Really wanted an Orion HCCA 1000. 4 but my budget only allowed for the XTR 750. 4. For not being the top model this XTR 750. 4 put out clean power and gets my 2 6. 5” and 2 8” loud. Run ch1&ch2 bridged at 4ohm and the same with channel 3&4.
I know some other owners have commented that the amp gets hot at 2 ohm but I can confirm that mine wired at 2 ohm per channel does not get hot at all. I suggest checking their grounds/power wire before placing the blame on the amp.
This amp is the badass! I was a fan of Orion years ago and got away from them using other brands like Rockford and JL. should have never left. Way more power and less money spent, these amps does every watt advertised and then some! Efficient wattage at 12.
Your first view of the RIOT Series may deceive you. The elegant lines are a textbook exercise in minimalist design. From this point on, however, its power and reproductive authenticities will be anything but minimal.
Perhaps the only thing more extensive than the features showcased is the enjoyment you’ll derive from them. This is only one reason BOSS Audio has led the way in 12 Volt Entertainment for almost a quarter of a Century.
I order this got in mail was hoping to hook up and try but I did not receive the farat or the wiring kit with it. I emailed but have not heard back yet if they make right willing to retract and rewrite review.
But as of right now it seems like I got played thinking I got a deal. So if there was two packages been nice to know but we will see. Not worth it if you on time crunch like most of us.
I used this to replace a customer’s Lanzer amp. That was also under $100. 00(which was nice till it had some water to drink) haha. this too from pe. Quite impressed it really pounds a pair of eminence 10s pe was selling a few years back.
It’s got a crossover, logo lights up, separate bass level for those who don’t have sub control in your head units. I’ll be honest if it wasn’t for the you tube Dyno guy testing some of the amps I Never would of bought it.
Boss=junk in my mind. I don’t believe it does what it claims but I have no verification of this. Again going from amp Dyno observations, and price. But if it lasts for 5+years with moderate beating you can’t go wrong!!!.
Origanally purchased with a PYLE BluewaVe 10″ DVC Sub. After hook up it never sounded right. I changed the door speakers, replaced the head unit, swapped to a Audiobahn sub. OK, if your looking for a real review here it is.
If your looking to use this as a sub amp, your gonna be disapointed. It just cant give a nice full, rich, round, natural sounding bass. What it can’t do is push a sub down to 40Hz, and in with the low filter switched on it muffles the sound at the woofer.
This is awfully bad because you’ll push the amp so hard you will pop speakers. Boss gives Max Power ratings instead of RMS Loads. I checked power output. Bridged @ 4 Ohms your Amp is putting a little more then 85 clean watts.
This is your RMS load. @2 Ohms which is how I have mine set up its pushing 130 clean Watts Tip: When wiring your subs each channel will see exactly what you wire, 2,4,or 8 Ohms. When bridging you double the Ohmed resistance.
i. e. a 4 Ohm load split between 2 channels shows a 2 Ohm load to the amplifier. This is a neat trick if your amp is 1 Ohm stable. THIS AMP IS NOT 1 Ohm STABLE. Wiring 2 subwoofers in Paralel will destroy the subs.
4 and 4 = 2 split across 2 channels =1. Wire in series, 4 + 4 = 8 split across 2 = 4. So I am buying a new sub amp and will set this up to drive the door speakers, so it’s not a total waist. just not what i was hoping for.
This is How You Build a Really Cool Amplifier The PA D4000. 4 amplifier is capable of bridging two full-range channels into a single full range channel with higher output power. For instance, one front and one rear channel will increase the output power from 125W per channel to 400W per channel (for a 4 ohm load).
The most common hookups for the PA D4000. 4 would be four full-range channels, two full-range channels and a bridged sub, or two bridged subwoofers.
Im running Polk Audio MM1 6. 5 components up front and Polk DB2 6×9 3 ways in rear deck at 125 Watts rms at 4ohms they are crystal clear, clean, and LOUD! Best high amp Ive owned yet, recently bought a Polk Audio PAD 1000.
1 and run a Polk Audio1222 ported box, with the Polk Audio DB2 12s in it also, super clean quality sounding through tout evenly balanced beautiful sounding set up, not a competition ground pounder but still slams with Polk audio clarity, best set up Ive ever owned, have Polk audio Home system as well! Highly reccomend Polk Audio the name says it all!.
Small footprint class D amp runs cool and put out clean powerful sound. This is a great amp. I have used many amps and this one is in the top bracket for mids and highs. They have come a long way with getting class D amps to put out good sound quality for the upper frequencies, This one is definantely one!.
Class A/B 2 ohms Stable 4-Channel Amplifier RMS Power Rating: 4 ohms: 135 watts x 4 channel 2 ohms: 200 watts x 4 channel Bridged, 4 ohms: 400 watts x 2 channel Total power output: 800 watts CEA-2006 Compliant Amplifier Wired remote bass level control included 3-way protection circuitry (thermal, overload, and speaker short protection) Dimensions: 20.
5″W x 7. 8″L x 2. 4″H 1600W Peak (800W) RMS N-Series Class A/B 4-Channel Car Audio Amplifier. The NVX NBA401 is categorized as a Class A/B amplifier. This class of amplifiers combine the high efficiency of a class A amplifier and lower distortion found in class B amplifiers.
The class AB amplifier acts more similarly to a class A amplifier by biasing both transistors so they become active when the signal is close to zero. As the signal excursion increases into a larger waveform, only one transistor remains active, a primary function found in class B amplifiers.
These features combined with the MOSFET transistor allow the NBA401 to be one of the most efficient amplifiers on the market. The NBA401 also features three-way protection circuitry which protects against thermal, overload, and speaker shortages.
This configuration increases the longevity of both the amplifier and entire speaker system. The NVX NBA401 is constructed to meet the highest quality standards. While other amplifiers on the market often inflate their specifications, the NBA401 is tested using the Consumer Electronics Association’s ratings test.
This means that all specifications listed for the NBA401 are accurate for peace-of-mind. The NBA401 also uses threeway protection circuitry, protecting not only the amplifier, but the entire sound system from thermal, overload, and speaker shortages.
This helps increase the longevity of the sound system as a whole.
This is my second NVX amp. (I have the first, a VAD10001, pushing 1000 watts to a 12 Alpine type R at 1 ohm and love it). My plan is to use this one to push a 12 Alpine Type S at 2 ohms in my sons car.
So far i have only hooked it up on the table to make sure it works (no problem). But I have no doubt this thing will be awesome. Its a tank compared to the VAD, not overly large, but heavy and solid.
Great connections just like the VAD. And no searching for the right allen wrenches since it comes with everything. (That may sound stupid, but i like leaving the wrenches in the vehicle just in case i ever need them.
) I mounted the control under my seat for the VAD. I will probably put the control for the NDA in the dash panel by the fog lights switch.
The description says 1480 watts rms. Well let us do some math, 120 watts rms x 4 @ 2 ohms =480 watts. + 500 watts @ 2 ohms for sub channel = 980 watts @ 2 ohms(The rated lowest load of amp) where does the other 500 watts come from??? Ether they cant add, have poor editing,or are lying to us.
None of which are good. Also this is not a 5 channel class d amp. 4 channels are class a/b with only the subwoofer as a class d. The only place you find this out is on the back of the box after you already bought said amp with the thinking it was all class d like the description said! I would not have got this amp had I known it was not all class d because i need the power efficiency.
But I will keep this amp because its only 980 watts rms not 1480 watts.
This amp is great! It is affordable and performs very well. It sounds great through the JBL 960C component speakers and NVX 6x9s in the back. The only complaint I have is the size. This amp is long. It barely fit mounted on the rear of my 60/40 split rear seat but thats not the fault of the amp.
Class A/B amps just run bigger and with this much power delivered, it has to be that big to dissipate the heat. It has an internal fan on the bottom. Make sure to mount it in a way that it has clearance for good air flow/intake to keep it cool.
Give into your deepest desire for power. Work it out how you want with the bridgeable amps. Just consider the consequences whatever you do: pure and clean, distortion-free power. The Pioneer GM-A6704 will ignite your system, but keep the heat under wraps.
Variable HPF (High Pass Filter) allows for adjustable frequency between 40 Hz to 500 Hz* and greater car audio system flexibility according to subwoofer characteristics and personal listening preference.
Bass Boost featured in the Pioneer GM-A6704 can be set to levels variably from 0 to 12 dB for optimal bass. This precise control can enhance the overall balance and impact of all sounds according to listening preference and music style.
The Pioneer GM-A6704 automatically select the proper input signal mode, either RCA or speaker level. When the receiver is turned on, the amplifier automatically turns on. When connected to an OEM receiver or a receiver without RCA output and utilizing speaker level output, the amp automatically senses the input mode and powers up in sync with the receiver.
When connected to an OEM receiver or a receiver without RCA output using speaker wire the amplifier is turned on at the same time as the receiver. Pioneer’s amplifiers automatically detect the input signal and select RCA level or speaker level.
When looking for an amp be leery. Do your research. Now people bad mouth Walmart’s electronics but hidden in the rough among the junk are decent products if you do your research. This is a decent amp.
You can get it cheaper than at Walmart believe it or not. Also, it’s not a 760 watt amplifier. Always look at the RMS rating of an amplifier. That is the wattage it can run on all day long. Look at how your going to run it to know what RMS to look for.
Are you running it 4 channel, 2 channel or bridging it. Most people can’t crank it and run it all day long like that so RMS is the best determination to use. This is a good 60 watt RMS amp running through four channels.
So you can’t go wrong. Pioneer is exactly that, a pioneer in audio. I remember back in my day when they were the innovators everyone else looked to. Now their lower end stuff is going to be found in the big chain stores, but occasionally you find some good stuff.
I never wanted a amplifier because I thought it was too complicated installation, but after reading, reviewing, investigating I decided to get one and it had to be a Pioneer. Then I bought all the cables necessary for the installation and one day decided to remove one of my truck sit and proceeded to the installation.
Very well organized, clean and with patience, I installed my first Pioneer amplifier. Was I happy with the result? Of Course. I still had my old original speakers that came with my truck and the sound was amazing; my truck was trembling with the bass sounds and I don’t even have a subwoofer.
Pioneer never let me down. I was so grateful Walmart had it because it was very easy to get and very fast delivery.
Works great for 4 channel RCA setup that comes with most after market car audio stereos. I have my front left and right speakers and rear left and right speakers wired direct to the amp and they sound great! Should have done this a long time ago!.
The RXA-F1 is a 4 channel high power amplifier with 1,600 Watts peak output, 800 Watts RMS output (4 x 200 @ 2 Ohms). You can also bridge the amplifier and get 2 x 400 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohms. The CEA-2006 compliant rating is 65 x 4 @ 4 Ohms and 95 x 4 @ 2 ohms 200 @ 100Hz.
60 Amp Maxi Fuse. Dimensions: (W x H x L) 8. 5 x 1. 8 x 13.
I like the style and look of the amp but haven’t installed it yet. I purchase the amp for my motorcycle Cruiser but when I pulled it out the box I noticed it was a little large or too long and the wait was a little heavy not saying it’s not a good amp I think it’s a great now but for a motorcycle I think or I was looking for something a little smaller and lightweight with a lot of power.
But I’m keeping the amp I’m just going to install it in my SUV instead but if Rockville could get in the business of making smaller amps for motorcycles I think that would be a great Avenue to take. So now I’m in the process of looking for a smaller amp with enough power to push 4, 6×9 speakers, but if Rockville was in the motorcycle amp business I would definitely purchase another amp from them.
I swapped this out with my old alpine 2channel. Had problems with background noise, then a channel went out. My alpine say 75w rms and it dont sound far from this butt its suppose to be 3x more watts.
It look good but im not feelin the power. Im using JBL GTO separates. After 3months dealin with amp i gota used Rockford amp thats 100 real watts rms a channel and what a difference. i dont trust this brand.
They try to sound and look like rockford fosgate but not the same.
I originally got it for a temporary replacement for my ancient soundstream while i repaired it. Im not gonna lie and say the s. q. is better because nothing tops made in the u. s. old school soundstream but.
it sounds pretty damn good! The most legit budget amp ive ever seen. Loads of functions and the price is insane for what you get. Think ill fix my old amp be but use this one also.

I’ve not had time to fully test this amp, but my initial impressions are excellent. I am still running in the new speakers (Focal flax series components), so sound quality is not 100% yet, but already I am please with the result.
a nice compact amp and a versatile solution for your complete set up. No, this isn’t going to win SPL competitions – it’s not designed for that. but the power outputs are well matched to most high end kit more aimed at SQ.
finish is really nice and feels like a quality unit. not the cheapest 5 channel amp out there but well worth the money.
Discover the meaning of bass with this Planet Audio amplifier. Up to 2400 watts of power are produced across four channels, and a MOSFET power supply keeps the current lower so you get even more volume.
This Planet Audio amplifier includes a remote subwoofer as well as a variable high pass crossover for ultimate control. 2400W max power Handles up to 225W RMS (continuous) x 4 at 4 ohms or 450 W RMS x 4 at 2 ohms.
Features four channels driven for robust audio. Variable low-pass and high-pass crossover Lets you easily adjust the audio frequency from 45 Hz to 500 Hz for flexible sonic customization. 2 to 8-ohm impedance Conducts power evenly to keep the speaker at an appropriate level.

It will be within range to properly match the output of the source unit. Variable bass boost Allows you to adjust the low bass within the boost range to just the way you like it. Variable gain control Lets you balance the amps output with the speakers or subs the amplifier is driving.
Too much gain will lead to distortion and too little will lead to clipping.
I’m going to enlighten everyone, so they get an honest opinion on this item. You get what you paid for. Back in 2012 I purchased this exact amp. It was my 1st amp, I didn’t know much about car radios at the time.
It gave me “noise/feedback” and it upset me, because I thought “there was something wrong with the wiring/ground within the head unit”. That was not the case. If you purchase this you will get noise.
You can “not” turn the gains up much, you will get more noise. The 4 channels give the engine noise/feedback. The 5th channel being your Sub Channel you don’t hear it on there. Now to the present June of 2019.
Quality control must have NOT stepped up, because this is my 2nd 1800. 5 anarchy amp with the “same characteristics”. When I hooked up a Hi-Fonics 5 channel amp, I didn’t have problems with “engine noise/feedback or anything”.
Like my audiophile cousin mentioned – The more you spend on your amp or go with a higher/better branded Amp, the chances of “noise/feedback or the pop of the amp turning on” is much lesser. That’s why people spend on their car radios, if I had only known that years ago.
So this baby will get replaced but I by something better. I hope to God, I saved someone’s life from any time wasted or agony/pain. (Oh yes it does get HOT).
I did not use this in a car or vehicle. I set it up with a Pioneer head unit for my gazebo and some Polk speakers. It definitely does its job for me. Good, crystal sound coming out of my setup. Not difficult to install/wire, and fine tuning was very simple.
It is rather larger for an Amplifier, I had a similar power one prior to this and it was half the size. So make sure you have enough room, I had to build a bigger cabinet to hold this one.
I bought this amp to run my system in my 1996 Cadillac Deville. I am running Planet audio touch screen head unit with 2 Rockville 12 K9 woofers with Infinity 6×9 and 6. 5 kickers for the doors, and let me tell you.
they ROCK. it took a little time tuning but definitely worth it. This setup is not competition but its what I have. The power is perfect for what I want, am a R&B, Smooth Jazz, Gospel, with a little Hip Hop listener.
I recommend this amp. It is pretty big but my caddy is big too.
The Pioneer GM-D8704 GM Series 1,200 Watt 4 Channel Class D Amp features a rugged frame design with a high-quality, textured flat panel to combine strength and simplicity. The GM-D8704 4 channel automotive amplifier is rated at 1,200 watts max, with the A and B channels rated at 100 watts x 4 (RMS) and 150 watts at 2 ohms (RMS).
Compared to similarly priced multichannel amplifiers, the variable crossover networks on the GM-D8704 offer increased flexibility and give listeners more control. Use the wired bass boost knob to add 0 to 18 more dBs.
This car amp has block terminals for a cleaner installation and direct wire contact to minimize resistance.
It has been over 1 year since co-installing this power amplifier on the output end of my DUAL CD-Radio. I bought this power amp because in my experience, – except for very expensive units – most replacement car radio/CD/USB units have relatively little power.
I don’t mean a lack of boom-box power; I mean sufficient power so that one can hear decent bass and treble response at reasonable volumes. The sound quality on this unit is absolutely outstanding! would give it 6 stars if it were offered.
Sound is crisp, full and rich; this power amps’ absence of its own volume control in no way detracts from its performance or value. After all, if you can control volume from your dash radio/CD/USB/BT unit, why do you need another one on the (usually inaccessible) power amp? This unit is a Class D amplifier.
What that means is that its power-to-size ratio is VERY high. Translated, this is a 400W amplifier in a VERY small pkg. I mounted mine via velcro on its underside to the bottom of my glove compartment, so that if its own fuse ever blew, I could pull the unit out of the glove easily, replace the fuse, then the amp, and boogey away.
(BTW, the original fuse hasnt blown yet). Will be shortly purchasing another one of these marvelous power amps for my other car, before the mfr gets ny hir-brained ideas about discontinuing this model.
This tiny amp is too underpowered to run higher quality 75 watt+ rms speakers. Im sure it would perform better with lower wattage coaxial speakers that arent meant to produce good punchy midbass. Dont get me wrong this lil amp sounds good and definitely better than what my double din kenwood excellon stereo can dish out.
But not enough for my power hungry Pioneer TS-D6902R 6×9 speakers. I guess i shuda known better. I got carried away by reading the reviews. I will have to either amp up, or downgrade on my mids. Otherwise its a cool lil amp.
I personally cant crank it up too high for too long or it will get into what seems like protection mode and lower my volume substantially no matter how much i turn it up. I have to power off & on to make it work well.
And thats while lowering the bass enough to where the speakers dont clip. Because they will clip if you try to get any decent midbass on high end components. Even when bridged to 2 channel and doubling up the power to speaker.
Bottom line, it should work great on small wattage speakers. It uses only a 15amp fuse, so what can you expect really?.
I was searching for a Hi-Res amp for the Hi-res Alpine 6x9s I purchased. I’m running four 6×9 Alpines at 100wrms @ 4ohms. I have always been impressed with pioneer’s amps. I’ve had many of their class AB and they would run very hot.
Class D has come a long way. Purchased for $130 and can not be happier. Has all the basic HP LP settings. Was running an Axxera 100 x 4 wrms and it was a great little amp. This pioneer does not get any hotter and again the sound quality is outstanding (much better).
This amp like all other Pioneer full range will make your speakers come to life and shine, CEA rated. I suggest using for highs and mids only, go with a dedicated mono for your sub. I’m also running a 12″ with a different amp.
If you are looking for a Hi-res amp for a good price and build look no further.
Upgrade your sound system with this Kenwood 4-channel amplifier. It delivers 400W total power for crisp, clear tones, and the conformal-coated circuit board keeps out moisture and salt for safe use in both land and water vehicles.
This compact Kenwood 4-channel amplifier is easy to install in tight spaces for added versatility.
I got this amp because my Sony XAV-AX3000 head unit only produces 20w RMS and 55w peak (and it hardly ever hits it’s peak, but then again head units can only provide so much juice). All in all, i am very happy with the performance of this little compact beast.
Was quite easy to install and get up and running in less than an hour (didn’t have to run power from the battery since my car has a 20a fuse for the audio, so that saved me from a lot of unwanted work).
I have 4 kicker 46CSC654 speakers rated at 100w RMS and 300w peak and now paired with this little amp (which now sits in my glove box), they really sound crisp and clear. This amp only provides half the required RMS power to drive the kickers, but they sound considerably better than when connected to the head unit.
One thing to note though is that this little bad boy heats up quite a bit. Lets just say after turning on the car and listening to music for 5 minutes, this unit gets so hot i could not keep my hand on top of it for longer than 5 seconds.
Didn’t really expect that much heat from a little amp, especially one that has Class D circuitry. This is the main reason why i docked one star and may possibly return it. If it starts overheating and shuts down though, i will be definitely returning it – but lets hope it doesn’t.
Would really recommend this unit to anyone that doesn’t have enough room in their car to mount an amp. This unit easily fits behind the dash or in the glove box with the only caveat being its heat output.
I’ve been using this compact amp in my Can Am for about a year. Still works. I actually have two of them. One powers the large marine full range speakers and the other powers a 8″ dual voicecoil subwoofer and seems to be just enough.
Moth amps have the 4 channels bridged into 2 channels. Of course in the Can Am (or any side by side vehicle) you have limited charging power and the Class D efficiency helps. Haven’t had any charging issues with my stock Can Am charging system.
So far so good with this amp. It has a nice small footprint so it fit nicely in the cabin of my boat so it can’t get wet. Has nice output for the mid level Kenwood marine speakers I’ve paired it with and the set up was ok given the price.
The main issue is this amp puts out a lot of heat given the low output so be careful where you mount it and it also doesn’t have the newer bells and whistles a lot of higher price amp have to set things like gain, but that’s obviously to be expected.
New for 2015, PHANTOM amplifiers are sure to be a BIGGER hit than before. Each amplifier includes the new EDGE Backlit LED Illumination that will catch the attention of all eyes. This new line-up of thirteen new models, is guaranteed to cover any install application.
PHANTOM is a full feature line-up that allows you to customize your system whether the need is power, or sound quality.
There are several who bash BOSS. Im not one of them. They must be installing them wrong or pushing them past their limits. I had a RIOT 1100 in another vehicle and now I have this one. This amp is powerful, clean (no engine whine or hiss at low volumes), has never went into protection mode.
Sure, it gets warm when pushed, but thats typical of AB amps. I highly recommend this amp for budget systems, although it really performs better than many expensive amps. Im pushing (2) 6X9s and a 10 ported sub and this amp performs well over my expectations.
I love boss I not only have the Amp but I replace my factory speacker in my Nissan Altima with Boss put 500 watt RMS 250 6. 9 in rear deck and 4 6. 5 in Door pushing 300 watt RMS 150 and the front corner with the 3.
5 with 200 watt and 75 RMS I believe sound amazing with the 1500 watt Phantom I would recommend Boss to anyone that all I use in my Business unless my customer bring there own Gear other then that I buy Boss.
Alpine’s popular PDX amplifiers are still available for 2012 and include a new 5-channel model, the Pdx-V9. This model supplies 50% more power than its predecessor and incorporates Global Modulation architecture, for the ultimate sound quality that is a hallmark of PDX amplifiers.
The Pdx-V9 has system flexibility, allowing it to be used in a typical 5-channel system or in a 3-way active system. PDX amplifiers were the first all digital amplifiers to be housed in a small, uniform footprint, with a stackable chassis design for compact installations.
All PDX amplifiers continue to be efficient, reliable and have the flexibility to work with multiple speaker configurations.
I perseverated over the Alpine or the Rockford Fosgate P1000X5. I’ve always like Rockford, but wanted the smaller amp size. The Rockford has Class A/B for the front channels, which is fine, but I liked the idea of a Class D amp.
I’m replacing a Kicker 4 channel amp that was Class A/B for all channels. It did it’s job but was never loud enough for me. I can honestly say that listening to music with the Alpine is like listening to music for the first time.
My favorite songs I can now hear so much detail that I was missing before. The sound pressure is amazing with this amp! A bonus is that all my alternator whine is virtually gone. I can only notice it when gunning the engine and the volume is low.
What a quality amp! Things that are confusing are the plugs for the speaker wires into the amp. There is no marking of + or – on the amp itself. I plugged all the + in the upright position. I guess the amp figures out polarity? I bought the RUX Bass knob to control my sub independently.
This is really nice to have. You don’t know what you are missing without this knob. Jet. com had the cheapest price that I’ve seen for a new Alpine PDX V-9 amp. You almost pay the same used on E bay for the price of this new one.
I picked this amp up on a deal for about half price of full retail. Very easy to install, it’s really small for it’s power output and the sound is amazingly clean yet powerful. I have it powering 4 door speakers & a sub.
If you can afford one of these amps, you will not be disappointed. Previously had a Hifonics 5 channel amp, this amp is a night/day difference in both sound quality and true power output.
This amp is awesome! Powers my whole system and is so compact it barely takes up any space! I am extremely satisfied with this purchase! I highly recommend this amp! People complain that this amp causes static and high pitch noises, but I’ve never had a problem with that.
So they should check their wiring before blaming this amps quality. I like that it comes with a warranty as well. The one problem I’ve noticed is that if the amp is stored somewhere with no air flow then (depending on your system set up) it gets really hot.
I have a dodge magnum and I’m currently storing the amp under the top panel in the rear of the car so I may install a fan or two since it gets really hot. This heat problem isn’t the amps fault. It’s just bad placement on my end.
I would buy another product like this in the future because overall I am happy with my purchase. I hope this helps any future buyers!.
Skar Audio designed the RP marine series specifically for marine and powersport applications. The full-range RP-150. 4ABM is the perfect solution for anyone seeking excellence on the open water. Capable of powering multiple sets of component, pro audio, or coaxial speakers, it packs the power that will allow your speakers to come alive.
This extremely efficient, Class A/B, 4-channel, MOSFET amplifier is fully marinized with a water/rust proof coating on the PCB and mechanical casing. The RP-150. 4ABM is conservatively rated at 1000 Watts RMS and achieves total amplifier efficiencies over 65%.
Versatility is this amplifier’s middle name, with an array of adjustable user controls such as the gain, LPF, HPF, crossover, and bass eq. Featuring a high-speed MOSFET power supply, 4-way protection circuitry, advanced electronics, and other internal high quality components, the RP-150.
4ABM shines when compared to anything in it’s class when it comes to power and reliability. The class A/B circuitry equipped in this amplifier allow it to reproduce extremely clean output, for the best possible sound on your boat.
I installed this amp on my seafox bay boat along with two skar 8 inch coaxials and I am blown away, I am using a fusion headunit, these two speakers on this amp are incredible. It far exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend these items to anyone looking to do a audio upgrade on their boat, I have been using skar audio products for years now in all my personal vehicles which is the reason I chose them for this install.
Sound is just as good as Jl audio without the crazy price tag that comes with the JL name. I have found skars products to be great and work excellent even many years after install. I had some issues before about 4 years back with one of my amps and they where very quick to get the issue fixed and send me a brand new one right out but that was years ago and the only issue I’ve ever had with this brand.
10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting a excellent stereo system to rival JL for a fraction of the cost!.
Skar doesn’t make any junk. My amps work very well and make very clean power. The wattages are not overrated like cheap amplifiers. That’s what I like about them most of all. They’re not trying to sell you garbage.
Their speakers are top-notch as well. Packages came very fast. No complaints whatsoever.
Amplifier performs well; however, with less than a year of use the body and switches of the “marine” amplifier are starting to rust. Disappointed with the “marine” quality. I have a Massive Audio marine amp mounted right next to the Skar which has been in the environment longer and it shows no signs of rust or wear.
Both units are in a sealed compartment with little moisture and the boat has never seen salt water.

4 ohms impedance Conducts power evenly to keep the speaker at an appropriate level. 4-channel output Allows easy system expansion. Class D circuitry Ensures reliable power handling.
I got this amplifier to power up my new speakers. For of them in the doors of the car. Back coaxial and in the front systems (separate tweeters and crossovers). They are all of them rated at 50W RMS at 4 Ohm and this amp is rated at 70W RMS at 4 Ohm! That’s a lot trust me and is even more for the price tag.
My Head Unit has all kind of settings for crossovers and distance between ear and speakers but if you plan to use it with a standard head unit (or without many settings) pay attention because this amp doesn’t have HPF on the “so named” back speakers, just LPF at 80Hz and this is not so great.
But usually nowadays head units have settings for filters. I personally keep them on OFF both of them and I use only the Head Unit settings. One great advantage this amp has is the gain control noted with the voltages that comes out from the Head Unit.
Mine has for example 2V, and so forth, in this way you can set up the level quite accurate. I still recommend you to use my method of setting up the amp. Use an oscilloscope, use 1Khz sine signal for the main speakers and 40Hz or 60Hz for the sub.
Normalise those files (0dB). Don’t forget to not connect yet the speakers. 1Khz at high level will burn your speakers because at this oscillation they have no ventilation so no way to getting fresh less heated air.
Set the volume of the head unit at 75% from the maximum. Play the sine wave and watch the scope. Some waves like would appear. Start increasing the gain of the amplifier till the sine wave turns to squares.
This is the point of distortion. Move one grad or two back the gain to have perfect sine-wave. This method is perfect. Is an A/B class amplifier which is making it larger (than a D class) but the sound quality is far better.
As you read in the manual has an “adaptive cooling” system. Well is not the case in the first place because I play all the time the music at maximum and the amp doesn’t get warm at all so the cooling is very good.
Also the whole cover is made in aluminium which I bet is bolted to the final transistors to allow perfect cooling. One more thing, this amp doesn’t have a “high level input”. I could never recommend such a thing, but maybe you have no other solutions.
Well you need to buy adapters for the signal from the speakers to be decreased at the levels of the RCA’s on the Sony Amp. Buy with faith, I’m a professional in “sound”. This amp worth every penny. I hope Sony would make in the future more powerful amps (let’s say a proper mono-block at 500W RMS, another one at 800W and so on).
Pair your X-series subwoofer or speakers with this Alpine mono power density amplifier. Its simplified circuit technology ensures a clean signal path, and the exclusive dual feedback loop corrects signal distortion, so music sounds realistic and accurate.
This Alpine mono power density amplifier has a solid cast aluminum heat sink for effective thermal management. Variable high- and low-pass crossovers Ensure flexible operation. 4 ohms impedance Conducts power evenly to keep the speaker at an appropriate level.
<1% THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) Provides clean sound. 105dB signal-to-noise ratio Offers crisp audio. 0-12dB bass boost Lets you add punchy bass to your music. 5-channel output Allows easy system expansion.
Class D circuitry Ensures reliable power handling.
I went from a w6 and 2k kenwood amp to this x-a90m and the newest 12 types X. I honestly didnt think that anything would sound any better than what I already had but I rolled the dice and holy $h*t talk about some major Sq bass.
This is by far the cleanest loudest system Ive ever had installed in my life. The w6 is loud but a rough, loose and maybe even say a sloppy loud that rattles everything trashy like. Ive also gotta give you props on the matching capability, between the sub n amp.
My brother likes good sounds so I got him this amplifier that will power all 4 door speakers. The speaker level outputs from his deck were ok but a dedicated amp is just cleaner, clearer and louder sound.
The new line of Export Stetsom arose from the need for a product with extremely high quality and performance to meet the international market, and in consequence, the Stetsom can also provide the domestic market with a product renidmento and exceptional quality! With 3600 Watts RMS of power at 14.
4 volts, this product has a relative size x incrívei performance! It has EQ EQ system which boosts the low-frequency bands, medium and medium severe acute. The module also has several protections against burning and exclusive forced ventilation system.
I retract everything I said about this amp. It pounds hard. True but at what cost? I’ll tell you. The first one I had started smoking so I sent it back to manufacturer. They said faulty whatever so they sent me a new one.
Hooked it up yesterday and I’ll be damned if it didn’t catch fire in my car. These amps are built to their fullest potential so if you have a very demanding set of subs like I do watch out. I won’t be buying out of the U.
Wow this amp is so clean and loud! This is running 2 orion hcca 10″ 2krms subs. This amp is so small yet so powerful! Remember to always have thicker wire terminal reducers! Look at my pic you will see.
I have very little knowledge about whats good or whats not, but once I got my truck wired I ordered two 1500 watt SKAR subs and plugged them into this amp. had it KNOCKING!!!! If you want to make noise for a small price, this should be your go to.
Upgrade your home theater system with this 600W Kenwood power amp. It has a frequency response of 20-50kHz to fill the room with vibrant sound, and all connections are on one side, making it easier to attach equipment.
This Kenwood power amp comes with a speaker-level input harness and bass-level remote for convenience. 300W total power RMS rating of 75W x 4 @ 2 ohms, 4 channels driven for robust audio. Variable high- and low-pass crossovers Ensure flexible operation.
4 ohms impedance Conducts power evenly to keep the speaker at an appropriate level. 100dB signal-to-noise ratio Offers crisp audio. 4-channel output Allows easy system expansion. Class D circuitry Ensures reliable power handling.
I got this to power up some kicker 6. 5’s that are 100rms. Bridged the front and rear door speakers and its pushing them pretty good. Have it adjusted at half way. Still have some twesking to fo but it sounds pretty clear.
I needed something to keep up with the sub i have. Works great. It does get really hot though. Not sure if its normal or if it’s because im bridging four speakers. We’ll see how long it lasts. Great price though.
ngl, this is pretty decent. You’d be pushing it by expecting a single speaker to work for dubstep, but my 10 12 10 rig is running moderate pre-amp gain with no clipping. the bass boost knob is stupid.
it only pumps 60-120ish while the gain knob gives you a flatter, subby tone which is all the more reason to carry multiple speakers. Abuse the four outputs and know your cone sizes. make sure you connect the remote wire to some positive terminal instead of looking for a dial.
You can do this buy gutting a cig lighter in the back of your car and splicing the red wire. All this does is turns your amp on when the car is on and off when the car is off. your other option is no red light and no amp.
I ended up returning this in favor of a certain (pioneer) class AB amplifier because I’m cheap and class AB is supposedly higher fidelity. That said if you’re looking for a relatively small, affordable, and full featured amp to really get your speakers moving this is a great option and I have nothing bad to say about this amp.
It does get warm to the touch but it put out great power and sounded good too. I will be considering this amp for future car audio builds.
Equipped with our exclusive NexD switching technology, this complete power package efficiently generates a potent 70 watts of crystal-clear audio into 4 ohms, plus a robust 500 watts for a subwoofer system, all from a single compact chassis.
Each pair of main channels is also fully bridgeable, stoutly producing 200 watts of full-range audio bliss (into 4 ohms), creating an ultra-powerful 3-channel amplifier. Conveniently located on top of the RD900/5, you’ll find a complement of studio-grade signal processing features, all hidden beneath a removable protective cover.
Each pair of main channels is equipped with a 12 dB / octave high-pass filter, with a dedicated low-pass filter for its subwoofer channel. All three crossovers offer continuously variable frequency selection from 50-500 Hz, for precise filtering.
Dual-range, differential-balanced inputs are also onboard, capable of accepting most input voltage levels, plus automatic turn-on capability (via signal sensing or DC-offset sensing) for maximum versatility.
LED clipping indicators are also standard equipment for each channel section. This all-new, innovative feature lets you easily set your amplifier’s input sensitivity settings, quickly and accurately, with no special equipment needed.
I purchased my first 900/5 a few years ago for my mustang. I upgraded cars (from ecoboost to GT) and swapped everything over. I got o e for my daughter’s H3 hummer and it ran everything to include the JL sub.
I sold the mustang and put it in another older mustang. It ran everything. Any separates, and pair of subs, it runs well. I had it on a single 12w3, a pair of 12w3s, and a Pair of 10TW1s. For the front I had everything from a 2-way to a high end 3-way hertz set.
Just Installed a RD900/5 in the rear driver cubby hole in a VW MK4 and it fits perfect for a clean hidden look. Running 4 JL C2650 components in the doors and a JL 10W3W-2 in a ported box and this system sounds like a dream.
Really really happy with the bass from the 10 INCH Sub! Running it off a 4V pioneer 8800BHS deck If I had more money I would’ve went C5650 just to max the amp, but honestly the C2 are loud and clear and the W3 Sub thumps really loud when the volume gets high.
Really pretty much the best pairing for this Amp. Well Done JL.
When I was looking at amplifiers just last month there was quite a few requirements that I had. I wanted 5 to 6 channels, above average sound, a very clean and stealth look, and had to be under $750.
I’ve had this amplifier for over 3 months now, and when I turn my radio on in my car I fall in love with it more and more each time. I am an absolute audiophile and this amplifier makes me happy I chose it.
After doing some research and listening to a variety of music, I have come to the conclusion that amps for mids and highs are not necessary. I believe that a good quality speaker system with a subwoofer is all that is needed to produce quality sound.
I think that mids and highs can be produced just as well with a good quality speaker system without an amp.
