Bought this a month ago after our old through the wall ac gave up. This new ac was the same size but way more features, higher btus, energy saver feature, and has heat. It came with complete accs such as foam strips, back protective grills, etc.

Btw, for installation, i hired an electrician which im glad i did. The manufacturers of these brand was so concerned about the customers safety that the had a built-in breaker w/ led light on the 240v 20amp plug (different plug from 240v 15amp).

So he had to re-route our outlet from hidden inside the wall to the frontside (and upgrading our outlet at the same time). So if the power fluctuates, the built in breaker will trip to protect the sc unit and your home, all i have to do is press the button on the plug to reset without having to remove the whole ac to access the plug.

But if your ac outlet is located on the front, then you have nothing to change. Great product, bang for the buck.

Did not cool small room at all. The cool air stayed on for 90 seconds then shut off to the fan over night. Room was so hot my son asthma started to bother him. The heat from the room had us both sweating to the point out shirts were wet.

In the process of getting an exchange with the good lord’s blessing.

We bought our home in 2015 and we love it so much, except for one thing- the master bedroom upstairs doesn’t get as cool as the rest of the house. My husband also likes to sleep as if we live in the arctic, it’s the only way he can sleep, so you can see where it would be rather problematic to have our room be so warm.

It is so powerful and effective that you immediately feel a noticeable difference when you open the door to enter (a nice cool breeze like entering an air conditioned store on a hot summer day) or when you open the door to enter the rest of the house (almost feels like leaving a nice cool store and entering a slightly less cool store, ha!).

We have central air conditioning so for this machine to be that powerful is rather impressive. I have strongly considered buying a second one to cool my main floor and give my central AC a break. On top of all the amazing features, it also helps protect my family with the UV-C technology.

I’m all for my kids interacting with germs to strengthen their immune system, but viruses can absolutely stay out of my home and I am so relieved knowing this not only keeps my family comfortable, but safer as well.

Lastly, this AC has been easy to use from the moment it was delivered on my doorstep. Installation and set-up was incredible quick and simple; you don’t even need to take the window screen off your window! (Which is so much better than a window AC because it continues to help keep unwanted insects out of my home and doesn’t alter the appearance from outside either.

) It took my husband about 10 minutes to get the AC installed and running. Since then, maintenance has been virtually non-existent. Even operating the AC has been simple- it has a nice modern touchpad, that is actually responsive, or if I am in bed I can access it using the remote.

The one and only thing I would change about this AC is my son’s infatuation with trying to turn it on and off constantly. But that’s only because this portable AC is so gosh darn cool.

I have been using the portable AC unit for several months now, which has save me a few times and my family this summer. Our electricity went out for several hours from a bad storm and our air conditioner had a leak over a weekend when we were eclipsing 100 degree temps during the day.

Luckily I had this AC unit to use. It worked very well hooked up to our solar generator to help us stay cool when our electric went out and really did well when we had a Freon leak in our house AC system.

Some things that I really like about the unit is it is mobile. I can move it around very easily from one room to the next to help cool off different areas of the house as needed. The attachments to allow the air to leave the house via window worked perfectly.

A few other extras that this unit sets itself a part from others is the reusable filter that is has and acts as a humidifier. I really like that the unit filters viruses in the air while also cooling the area.

Speaking of cooling. This unit covers around 600-800 square feet and does a very good job cooling rooms down quickly. When our AC went out during 100 degree days, our house was pushing 80 degrees until I connected the AC.

I could tell a instant cooling of the room once the unit started running. I would say the room cooled to about 70 degrees within 30 minutes. Installation was a breeze. Took me about 20 minutes once I set up the unit where I wanted it to go.

Honestly, the best features in my opinion is the reusable filter, low power consumption (awesome in the event of needing to use a generator), and is portable. It has some other features like a remote control and sensing capabilities, which are nice but what I like most is it is simple to use and install, cools and cleans the air quickly, and is built like a tank.

It is not cheaply made like other units. I highly recommend this unit to everyone especially with the heat waves we have had nationwide the past few years and electrical grid problems. Great back up when needed or even for camping!.

Bought a similarly older version from Costco which looks Exactly the same! Delonghi never bothered updating the model with features or make it efficient or quiet! 7200 BTU (SACC)/12500 BTU (ASHRAE) so you lose ~>40% efficiency, which is the worst thing about single hose portable A/C units compared to window A/C versions which is 100% efficient or dual hose portable A/C units which are more efficient.

It works in a 20×20 living room (400 Sq ft) but can’t cool it down enough as it’s slow and Only goes down to 64% for cool down. But the dehumidifier function works, just keep the draining hose hooked up and drain into a 10 Qt bucket next to it.

If it’s very humid, you’ll need to dump the water more frequently (i. e. ~1 hour’s operation ~1/2~3/4 bucket full of water on a very humid day). It’s NOT quiet so don’t use in your bedroom at night. The Eco mode isn’t that reliable.

It shows ‘green’ sometimes when it still feels humid. Doesn’t get ‘blue’ for the best condition often but it does happen, sometimes. You may need use to some light (painter’s) tape on the attachment section on the unit to keep it from getting detached as the hose link does NOT attach well! Consider getting a spare air hose if you plan on keeping it for a long time since it’s really Difficult finding the Correct, proper size tubing.

Be careful when using in one room and having another unit in another room in that you don’t use the outlets that’s on the same wall side since the electrical connection is most likely parallel to each other.

You’ll short circuit the outlets and trip the breaker which you’ll need to reset. Overall, it works but not efficiently and it’s noisy but don’t expect it make the room cold, just cool enough. Don’t forget to drain the water bucket! Slightly lower cost at Costco which does mark it on sale at times.

This AC unit was purchased through Home Depot and shipped UPS. The packaging was completely in tact and the product was in pristine condition. Installation requires only a few simple tools that anyone capable of installing the unit properly would certainly already own.

If you are not at least a little handy, get a helper who is. I have installed several units on old wooden sash windows and this one in an older aluminum frame window from the seventies. Sometimes you do have to make adjustments for a product installation.

Not a big deal to install, but follow the included installation instructions and get a helper. I believe it is possible for one person to install, but one slip with sweaty hands or forearms or a sticky window and it could be a very bad day.

The last thing you want is to have the unit fall out of the window and crash to the ground. Be sure to follow the install instructions in sequence. If you use the included filler panels, they need to go on the unit before the whole unit is placed in the opening.

I did read the instructions beforehand and knew this was necessary, but chose to quick-fit the unit without these in the way to see where the unit would sit and exactly where it would go first. My wife noticed right away when I called her back in the room to help with the final installation.

She said,”I guess these should have been installed first. ” I had to laugh. She was right. This is a nice unit. The controls are intuitive and the buttons on the unit and remote are large enough, clearly marked and provide good feedback.

I wish the temperature controls were on the remote as well as the main unit. Everything else you really need is on the remote. It cools great! I do wish the low setting was a little lower. I’m sure the fan would be a tad quieter and the low fan speed is more than plenty for the small office it is in.

Bought this unit for our bedroom. Having read horror stories about loud units, units dying after one season, smelly units, I thought paying $250 and the decent reviews might save me from these problems.

Well, it died after only a year and a half, and was only covered for 1 year. Fan/blower seems to have just up and died out of nowhere. Now the unit just emits a buzzing sound and doesn’t move air at all.

Regularly maintained, cleaned filter every few weeks. Only ran overnight in the bedroom after dark, so minimal use. Disappointing, would’ve gone with a cheaper unit if I knew it wouldn’t even last 2 years.

Add to it that it was fairly noisy, and seems to have an issue with developing ‘funk’ smell pretty regularly despite a clear and properly tilted drain pan, and I would recommend avoiding this unit despite the relatively positive reviews.

The ‘smart’ features on it are painful to set up and cumbersome to manage as well. Each temperature/mode change has to get its own entry, and if you ever need to disable the schedule for any reason (cooler day, traveling, etc.

) it completely wipes out all of your entries, and has to be re-programmed from scratch, which for me meant re-adding a dozen of these lines one at a time, waiting for the machine to ‘receive’ the schedule entry and update, before allowing you to enter another.

I would’ve given it 4 stars had it lasted more than 18 months, and I assume that’s where it got most of its reviews from.

I purchased this model through Best Buy on June 15th 2022. While it was on, it was lovely. Gave out cool air readily and it was relatively quiet. But on July 19th 2022, the A/C unit suddenly stopped working.

It would beep intermittently and display “88” with all the buttons lit up. After looking up this error online, I realized that there were other customers with the same experience. There were a lot of reviews on this model stating the customer reported their A/C gave out after a few weeks, months or even a year after purchase.

I tried to call GE’s customer support line the next day, right at opening time, but couldn’t get through. I ended up sending an email with my concerns. I received an email back 2 days later stating the unit is too small to service, but I can return the unit to the vendor if it’s within 90 days of the original purchase date.

If it’s been more than 90 days, GE will send a rebate check for the amount of purchase of another GE model A/C unit. Of course, I had to jump through major hoops to get Best Buy to accept my return/exchange.

This experience has lead me to never purchase another GE model appliance. Why would GE continue to sell a faulty A/C unit if there are numerous complaints that it stops working after a short amount of time? This A/C unit lasted me a littler over a month.

That is unacceptable.

Wide range of temp settings. Will cool a room very quickly. Generous power cord length. Clear installation instructions. Cons: Two philips-hd screws must first be removed, one from each side panel, to gain access to the filter.

The Owner’s manual does not address this.

Purchased this unit and a WAC8003WCO a little over a year ago. Purchased this brand because they were supposed to be quiet. The 8000 BTU unit definitely has been BUT the 12000 BTU unit this season sounds like the fan bearing is shot as it make a hell of a racket at any fan speed.

I purchased 2 units along with the installation sleeves. The Koldfront sleeves are important as these units need the proper intake air direction and seal to work properly. The sleeves are well made and make for a very clean and EASY installation.

They have been in now for 5 months down here in SW Florida on the Gulf Coast and it has been hot and humid. The DRY setting which works as a de-humidifier works very well and keeps the rooms free of humidity which is very important here.

The noise level is acceptable. They look nice and perform well. For the price this was an excellent purchase. Installation & clear instructions are a 5. Performance is a 4+. Noise level I ‘d rate at a 4.

This unit seems to be a good unit and it cools fairly well. It was replacing a 24000 but GE window unit that finally died after more than 20 years. That thing could really blow out a lot of cold air.

The new units only have a one year warranty. It seems it is that way for most brands on these window units. I got the wifi connected model which is only $20 or $30 more than the non connected model. I would definitely buy the connected model.

This allows you to set programs and schedules for the cooler from your smart phone. This cooler is definitely quieter then my old unit. The led display that shows the temperature is small and is only visible for a short time after you make a change to the a/c unit with the controller.

I am sure this is like this because people complained it was too bright when they were trying to sleep. Fridgidaire had one of the lowest prices on their website and they offered free 2nd day shipping.

I figured with the fast shipping the unit would have less chance of being damaged in shipping. I was wrong, it was damaged anyway. Fridgidaire was good about offering to send me a free replacement or a 20% discount on the damaged unit it if I wanted to keep it.

The Frigidaire brand was one of if not the top brand rated by consumer reports. As expensive as these units are, it is too bad they only have a one year warranty.

Very nice , cools faster than the last Frigidaire , but that’s because I upped my Btu’s. 700-800 ft/vaulted area and two smaller air con’s for bedrooms. Even on a higher setting set 72 and it cools off quickly and is comfortable and cycles on and off to balance the air temp.

When we cook so our new oven heats up fairly fast along with turning on the fan to reduce heat. and setting the air con. for higher cooling demand works within minutes and reduces the heat Heatwave? – we got it after the heat wave.

So at cooler settings I don’t know how much we’ll feel the cooling effect prolonging the running time to reach a comfort level. Our last Frigidaire lasted 10yrs still running but struggled cooling at heatwave temps.

Haven’t tried the heat setting yet , too hot out. The problem I have is reading the lights on the front panel. I’m 5″ The air Con. is installed about 1 1/2 ft above my head. So reading the modes are impossible.

And I have sight issues. So you must use the Op Manual to decipher the green and red dot’s If you can see them. I barely can. I’m not paid for this review.

Being a Floridian I have a large, 429 sqft Florida Room with insulated roof and vinyl windows. For about half the year this is awesome and if the room gets a little warm you can just open the windows but from Late May through Late September it’s just too hot and humid.

We had been looking for a good AC for this room and the LG 18,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air Conditioner looks like it is going to fit the bill perfectly! I had tried a smaller 9,000 BTU unit and it struggles too much with the mid-summer heat but this beast of an AC doesn’t even break a sweat! Packaging/In the Box – Upon opening the box I found the AC to be very well packaged/protected, this was a concern of mine due to the size and weight of the unit itself.

Removing the unit from the box/packaging was easy with some help, I highly suggest using two people for the entire unboxing and removal as this unit does weigh over 100lbs. Included with the unit are the instructions, the AC unit itself, a remote control, two PE foam strips, the left and right curtain panels, and install hardware.

Installation/Setup – Installation was easy with the instructions being very straight-forward. I love the fact that this is a “slide in unit” which allows you to slide off the outer shell, make the installation and then slide in the unit once that process is complete.

I know most installs are done window height through a double hung window but for my application we did install at ground level in a panel on the side of the Florida room. Note this install method is not supported but worked with little modification for my needs.

This unit is Wi-Fi enabled and can be controlled via the ThinQ app and can be integrated with Google or Alexa. In my case we integrated with my Google Home setup. App install and Google integration was as easy as expected for a current smart device.

Use – The on-board controls for the unit are as expected for basically any AC and resemble those for a central AC unit. The remote control is pretty basic and includes controls for power, temperature, Fan speed, Timer and Mode.

Personally, I control the unit via Google home or the ThinQ app. In the two days we have been using the unit we have had a temperature of 93 and 91 and the LG AC has kept our Florida room to a very comfortable 74 without having to stay constantly running! My Final thoughts on the LG 18,000 BTU Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Window Air is that this is a huge winner for me and anyone wanting a smart window AC.

Bought this unit primarily for the low noise and the high efficiency. Its pretty decent at power savings, but not nearly as good as the Midea U Unit that I put in the bedroom and they are rated exactly the same on the energy star sticker, so LG is just not as accurate or honest maybe? But still definitely saves power over the 28000 BTU 10 Year old Frigidaire that it replaced.

The other reason was the low noise, which is also slightly disappointing. Again definitely quieter then the old Frigidaire, but still have to raise your voice a little to have a conversation in the room, where as the Midea U is so quiet you honestly can barely tell its on.

Just wish the Midea U (or non U) ultra high efficiency model was available in a higher BTU so I could just get another one of them. Bottom line. Pretty happy overall with unit, but only met about 80% of my expectations both in power savings and noise reduction based on the previous reviews I had read.

This is my 2nd year with the dual inverter wi-fi enabled 18,000 BTU air conditioner. Initial setup was quick and easy. Use the ThinQ app as my primary control for the unit. The handheld controller works great, but usually no need to get up and go get it.

This is by far the quietest unit I’ve ever owned. Starting, stopping, or cycling on Energy Saver are whisper quiet as they change state. Last fall I unplugged the unit, cleaned the filter and put the outdoor cover on.

This May, I removed the cover, plugged it in and began use without incident. There was an update to the ThinQ app between last Fall and this May. No issues with that and My Profile, etc was ready for use.

Very nice unit and so much nicer than my earlier AC with respect to features, performance, and “quiet. “.

I bought this unit to cool and dehumidify a garage/shop. Since the area is only about 725 square feet, I knew this 18,000 BTU model would be more than enough. Installation was very straight forward. I built in the existing 4 foot by 2 foot window opening to be only slightly larger than the unit itself, making it unnecessary to use the expanding “wings” that come with it.

I then screwed down a 1 inch thick piece of hard maple to the sill to extend out of the window by about 12 inches for extra support. Being an 18,000 BTU model, I also ran wiring for a 240 volt outlet and mounted that just above the window opening.

Having the main “guts” of the unit easily removed from the metal cabinet makes getting everything installed so much easier; no more holding a very heavy air conditioner in the window opening while making critical measurements.

The end user only needs to mount the outer cabinet and then can easily (with the help of a friend) lift and slide the air conditioner itself into the cabinet. The unit cools down my insulated garage in no time and removes excess humidity at the same time.

The low current draw at 240 volts also allows me to run a table saw, dust collector and the air conditioner all at the same time with no issues at all. LG makes a great product and I’m very happy with my purchase!.

After looking at many A/Cs I decided on this one for several reasons. First i love the solid top on the outside. I have a lot of trees, and had issues with lots of leaves and dirt getting into the back of my old AC.

I also like the stylish solid front panel. This thing is really quiet on lower settings. I haven’t had to turn this thing above low, even when 90 degrees outside. It’s in the living room, so I needed something quiet because of the TV.

I also needed a slide in unit because i have this built into the wall. Install was fairly easy with two people. I framed the hole to the perfect size and then slide in the case. After mounting the case and adjusting my support brackets outside, the main unit slid right in.

It was a little more expensive than most other units, but with the features it has, it was worth it for me. I hope it lasts as long as my last one that lasted about 10 years.

This thing is basically my firstborn child at this point. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s SO worth it. It works like a charm even on the lowest setting (low + sleep mode) and it keeps my living room cool with minimal energy consumption.

I can’t get over how cheap it is in terms of electricity, it barely raised my Hydro bill. It IS a bit of a hassle to install, but you can then just forget about any heat wave for the whole summer. It’s absolutely incredible, and I will only sell it if I ever get central heating.

Otherwise it stays with me. Also, the Wifi control feels like such an unnecessary luxury, but it’s one I enjoy far too much. The power that you feel when you can just open an app and turn it on or off.

there’s nothing quite like it! As for Home Depot’s service, they delivered in a timely manner and the product was in perfect shape.

The AC did not work! I paid a handyman $250. 00 to fix the wall where my previous AC had been, as this one is slightly smaller. After he installed it, it started up and then stopped. I tried it several times, I decided it was defective.

I’m in Texas and it is super hot right now. I have another AC, but 15,000 BTU is not enough to keep us cool. So, right now, it’s in a box, waiting to be picked up. I reordered the same model, only because the opening in the wall is customized to its size.

I am disappointed and very HOT! I am expecting the replacement today, according to my latest email. I also had the handyman back to remove it. And I will need him again to install the new one. That costs $$$.

I bought this air conditioner thinking LG was a good brand and-or would at least have good customer service. NO to both. I emailed and called to ask a question about my new air conditioner and no response.

Very difficult to install. It comes in 3 pieces first you install the frame, then the unit, then tge front. Be careful of what kind of window you have had to drill a piece of wood into my window frame.

I had a 10. 000 BTU old clunker that cooked better. I wanted a new one because it was noisy. I will say this is quiet. I would have returned but it was just to heavy to do so. Has absolutely, no special features.

And dims my lights if I use the economy mode. I really advise against this product.

I live in Arizona, I purchased this unit to cool my garage during the hot summer months. After installation and when the hot weather arrived, air conditioner stopped working as soon as the outside temperatures exceeded 100 degrees.

Isn’t that special? An air conditioner that fails to function when it gets hot out! LG is trying to claim that the unit is designed this way so that it doesn’t overheat and get damaged and that this isn’t a malfunction! That is clearly an excuse so that they don’t have to refund my money.

Even their own repair person (who was here twice) said the air conditioner wasn’t designed for the hot desert heat conditions here in the Phoenix, AZ area, DON’T PURCHASE THIS A/C IF YOU LIVE IN AN AREA THAT GETS HOT!.

I bought this one as a replacement for the last one that was an LG. It made it 15 years. This one is okay until it gets hot. Even says on the Side of the unit that the compressor will cycle to keep it from being damaged from overheating.

I can live with that if it would only do that. After an hour of cycling the unit stops and gives a code for compressor over temperature. The new refrigerant goes over critical temperature and that is what causes the problem.

I contacted LG and have not had a technician respond as of yet. I would suppose going to a different refrigerant would solve the problem.

We purchased two a/c units for use in an apartment building for a customer of ours. One unit worked fine. The other unit had a broken fan blade upon arrival and just hummed when we started it. This was an upper apartment with a couple with a baby.

We didn’t have time for the authorized repair dealer ordered the new blade and repaired it so we purchased a 3rd unit. We checked the box for damage and started it up before we installed it. Same thing.

Just hummed and fan not turning. We ended up ordering a 4th unit so we would could provide cooling. Now we have two extra a/c units waiting for repair. NOT REAL HAPPY.

Compressor stopped working after 2 years. Used for a total of 7 months during hot weather. Not covered under warranty. LG charges $ 250 to send repair professional to assess. The $ 250 doesn’t include labor or parts!He told us that it would cost more to fix than to buy ac unit.

Apparently, LG had a class action lawsuit against them for bad compressors in refrigerators. Quality control of products is obviously an issue. We will never purchase another LG product even if it is deeply discounted.

I had this unit installed about 6 weeks ago, just in time for some of the hottest temperatures of the year so far. The unit performed like a champ, keeping us cool and comfortable in a space of approximately 400 sq.

ft. So far I have tried the Cool Mode, Energy Saver Mode and the Dry Mode. All work as advertised. The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that I was expecting the unit to be a little quieter.

It’s not so noisy as to keep me awake at night but I would not describe it as quiet. All in all, I am pleased so far. We used a through the wall LG sleeve to install the unit. I’m not sure how we would have gotten the AC unit installed if we had followed the directions verbatim.

The unit kept dislodging the foam that was supposed to seal the gaps. It worked better to insert the unit in the sleeve and then stuff the foam in the gaps to seal it up.

Have only had it for a week but it’s working just fine. It’s an 8300BTU replacement for an old Kenmore 6,000BTU unit that didn’t have a very sensitive thermostat and I needed to constantly get up and adjust the dial.

This has a remote control that allows adjusting from my chair that is most convenient. I purchased it from a local appliance dealer and since it was slightly larger by a couple of inches I paid for installation and a new sleeve.

Installer did a great job, cleaned up and put molding inside. Very professional job and would recommend a professional installer for this job. Very happy so far but it’s new and works well. Time will tell how things work out but GE builds jet engines so hoping their AC’s are just as dependable but I bought a 5 year warranty to be safe.

I bought this unit to replace a similar GE product that was now 15 years old. I remove the old unit, and the new one fit nicely into the existing sleeve. GE has improved these units quite a bit in 15 years.

The digital temperature control is an improvement, as is the remote control. The only problem we identified thus far is that the fan control is misleading. There is an “automatic” feature in which the fan runs only when the unit is heating or cooling.

Then it has “low,” “medium,” and “high” settings for the fan speed. I thought this would allow the fan to run continually in one of those modes, but it still cycles on and off when the unit is heating or cooling.

This causes changes in the ambient noise level, making it difficult to sleep soundly.

I purchased this unit to replace a bedroom air conditioner. I had the unit delivered and installed in March, now April. There hasn’t been a need for using it so far. It appears to be built solidly and good design.

In testing, even in low (three fan speeds), it delivers a fairly strong cooling. As with all air conditioners, there is the sound of the fan and the condenser in operation; I am pleased by the lack of rattles.

The remote is thin and simply functional; one feature that allows you to turn off the lighted display which is perfect at night in a bedroom. The real test will be how it handles a NYC summer. PC Richards was great from purchase through delivery.

We researched at length to decide on this model. This ac installed just fine in a sliding window where a typical window unit doesn’t fit. Sized properly for the room, it cools well. The air intake can be adjusted to recirculate indoor air or to draw outdoor air in—if you’re not cooling it can serve as a fan.

This ac is quiet enough for the bedroom, and the remote has a number of features in addition to being handy. For example, you can set the ac to monitor the temperature at the remote, which makes it possible to achieve cooling where it matters most.

Then it can run based on that thermostat, which is more efficient (and easier) than repeatedly adjusting the temperature by feel.

I did a fairly in depth search for a new air conditioner when our old one started sounding like a jet air plane taking off. After calling the distributor he gave me advice on the size of A/C unit that I would need for my house.

This was important because I was able to get the correct one (I was going to order a bigger one) and it does a great job! I live in western Oregon where it can get humid at times. So far its been working great and is much quieter than the previous one in it’s prime.

I am very pleased with it and I also got a veteran discount which was a great. The customer service people were great and didn’t try to up sell me “just because” while making sure I got the right one for the job.

It was nice to get a vertical A/C unit that fit my type of windows as well. The directions were easy to follow with all the necessary parts included. I will definitely order from them again.

I’ve only had the unit a short time but so far it seems to do the job cooling my large master bedroom and bath. It seems fairly quiet as well. So far no huge jump in my electric bill. It was bigger and heavier than expected so much more difficult to install than I thought it would be.

I don’t want to leave it in during the fall , winter and spring so I just jury-rigged a temporary arrangement to hold it in the window for the rest of the cooling seasonl.

The unit is a decent value. Installation instructions are almost useless, I had to google all kinds of ideas and information and there was almost nothing about this unit so looked at other basic wall installs.

There was no video support from LG either. You have to get the sleeve with it. you can not install without it and that is not clear on any of the store websites or even from LG. The sleeve, I had to drill holes in to secure, the directions dont even say how to secure it.

Then the unit just slides into the sleeve, there is no way to actually secure it except to pack the supplied foam strips around it in the sleeve which sort of wedges it in place. The unit does cool ok but installation instructions need to be more clear.

I just guessed how to install it. also, the energy saver mode. it comes on every 3 minutes to run the fan for a few seconds in order to sample the air temp before then deciding whether or not to turn on.

the problem with that is that it constantly cycles. I would have looked at other brands had I known this. Maybe it’s better than those even so but I can’t say. If it lasts as long as the old one did, I’ll be happy enough.

If it’s short lived, then everything else would make it worse. However, there are not a lot of options for through the wall units so I was at least happy LG offered one.

Bought this at the beginning of the Summer in June and it did not work at first. Sat on my floor for weeks! I should have taken it back but I had called LG to fix. The Tech that came out did not have the part and about 6 weeks later if finally came in and it was fixed.

Since then it worked just fine but I was very disappointed in LG quality on this unit. For reference it was the main capacitor that was no good – I can’t believe that the unit passed inspection before it got packaged up.

If it had not been that I ordered this online from Home Depot and COVID was not an issue, I would have taken it back to exchange. I thought that LG’s customer service was horrible in this case.

I bought two of these units a few weeks ago and have used them both a few times since then. So far they both work great and are not as loud as other air conditioners. They were also pretty easy to install and look nice, unlike the old units that came with the apartment and did not properly fit in the wall sleeves.

My sister noticed the new units when she came to visit and is planning to buy a couple of them as well to replace the old ones at her house. I’m really satisfied with this purchase overall and highly recommend this air conditioner!.

Bought Chill Premier to replace 20 year old Friedrich 10k BTU window unit. I’ve bought 2 Chill Premiers, 18k BTU and 24k BTU, which work well for the large area they service. This 12k BTU is used in a bedroom with high ceilings.

I looked forward to cooling comfort and quiet operation. This delivered on the cooling, but air blowing noise proved intolerable. On the lowest fan setting, air blew through vents with a volume perhaps too great for the small vent openings.

Whether automated or manual setting, the rapid air movement creates a lot of noise. This is the Bernoulli Principle. Larger vents would allow same volume of air without the strong rush. I have been brand loyal, bought 5 Friedrichs recently.

This one is the most disappointing because of the noise. I thought other reviewers were exaggerating, but they weren’t. I replaced the 12k BTU with a highly rated competitor’s model which can run at high fan speed as well as very low and get cooling and comfort as I expected.

Can now see if the competitor’s brand lasts 20 years without a problem as did the Friedrich. I only buy models that have a removable outer case. It’s much easier to mount in a window without risk of dropping the unit.

Both Friedrich and the competitor offer this feature.

Purchased this new unit to replace older Friedrich wall/sleeve unit. Be sure to buy new Friedrich uni fit sleeve which does not come with new a/c as in the past. The new uni fit sleeve will fit the old sleeve rough opening dimensions but I had to add a 1/2 inch piece of cut plywood to the upper frame to fill in the slightly smaller height of the new sleeve.

The new sleeve and new ac comes with multiple foam strip options and the instructions are not helpful whatso ever and are very confusing. I called Friedrich techs twice for guidance and it is not easy to get through to them.

Bottom line is that the new uni fit sleeve can hold three different sizes of Friedrich ac and the largest BTU unit fits snug while the smaller BTU units must be centered inside sleeve with the seals placed around the new unit and inside the sleeve.

There is an architectural frame that comes with new ac and covers the gap between the sleeve and new ac however the inside moldings around the ac sleeve will have to be removed and new ones cut, installed and painted to allow the sleeve cover to be mounted flush.

The power cord CANNOT be routed to either side of new unit and exits from lower left side of unit. The original unit I purchased in 2007, (which still works!), required dedicated line, circuit breaker upgrade and heavy duty outlet.

The new unit can be used on existing line however you will need to install standard wall outlet and different size circuit breaker in main panel, requiring an electrician. Total cost was just under $1,000.

00 and I performed all labor other than electrician. The new Friedrich Chill units are half the price of the uni-fit and come with new sleeve, however you will have to modify entire rough opening, removing siding on outside, adding sheathing, and adding sheetrock/ new paint on inside, so I chose the uni fit option to avoid that.

The new ac is 30% more efficient then what I replaced and is quiet and works extremely well. I have another Friedrich wall sleeve unit and will probably upgrade that as well with the uni fit system now that I am confident with the first installation of the one I purchased.

You can put a uni-fit in an older sleeve but I would advise against it as the new unit has to be sealed in a particular way that would be very complicated as opposed to the new sleeve I purchased, which is why the new unit comes with so many foam sealing options that are not ultimately needed.

Bottom line is that nothing is easy with this install so don’t plan on having it done in a hour or so which is what I thought it might take when I purchased this. You can purchase the KUHL model for several hundred dollars more than the uni-fit and that comes with new sleeve that fits exactly into old sleeve dimensions.

Overall, I’m satisfied with uni fit option I chose.

We bought the Friedrich Premier AC Unit. My husband bought this AC unit last year. It barely worked for a couple months, filled with water and uncontrollably beeped and did its own thing. We’d turn it off and it would turn itself back on to keep turning on and off and uncontrollably beep.

and at times it wouldn’t let us turn it off. We were under warranty so had to take it to an inconvenient location where they took forever and gave it back with the same problems. and repeat. Fast forward to this summer because its supposedly fixed now.

We’ve used it maybe 10 times so far and only at night. It started doing the turn on and off and beeping again at 3am. The company states this AC unit will work for 10-20 years. which is just a pathetic joke.

I am currently 8 months pregnant and really don’t need our air conditioner, of maybe a years total use, to quit working. Again, we only use it mainly at night for a small room and it constantly wakes us up with beeping and turning off and on.

on its own. We aren’t using the money saver feature, which might stop the AC when it gets to a certain temp. I really wish we could have our money back. I highly recommend this company stop selling this piece of s**t as if it were an AC unit and I highly recommend not buying this.

My first ever 1 star rating.

I had a 6,000btu Frigidaire AC for the last 5 years and upgraded to this 8,000btu LG AC a couple months ago during a heat spell when I needed better cooling. I cannot believe the difference this AC has made in cooling my loft that has a lot of southern sun exposure on the roof.

It actually gets it too cold on 95 F degree days and I have to turn the temperature up on it. I absolutely love the remote and digital system, as my last one was analogue and I have my AC in a window high up in my loft where I must climb a ladder to reach it.

The remote and receptor in the machine work perfectly and I never have to struggle to get it to change its settings. It is very convenient, to say the least. I love being able to change the settings while in bed.

A note on the temperature, when I set it to 70 F degrees for example, my apartment will stay within two degrees of that for the rest of the day, even when it was 100 F outside. My last ac had the filter designed to be removed through the side, which didn’t work very well with the way the ac is installed, so I cleaned the filter rarely.

This one has the filter easily accessible through the front slot. The only things that are less than perfect about this very strong and well-designed ac would be the noises it makes. It isn’t super loud, but here’s the deal.

It’s actually quieter than my last ac when it’s just running along smoothly, though we’ve had to use tape and shims to keep some of the front parts from rattling a bit. But when the compressor kicks on, it makes a kind of loud dull thud sound occasionally, but not always.

The overall hum of the ac is a bit higher than my previous one, but I like it. The funny thing is that I’m more annoyed by the sounds it makes when I’m up doing stuff than when I’m sleeping, and I am a light sleeper and I sleep right under it.

So it’s not that loud but the change in sound when the compressor turns on catches my attention sometimes in the day when I’m working at my computer. Not a big deal, and not loud enough that I am constantly annoyed at it either, which would not work for me.

The last thing I want to mention is that I read a lot of reviews on this and others before buying, and while most reviews were positive, some amazon reviews said that they had received a lemon (their’s didn’t work, didn’t cool, rattled loudly, leaked, etc).

I recommend that you plug yours in and turn it on for a while once you get it unpackaged, and make sure that it cools well and doesn’t make too much noise for you before you go ahead and install it. We did that, and I could tell within a minute that it was sending extremely cool air out and that it was relatively quiet.

I also read an amazon review about how some of these have the compressor a little too close to a pipe inside, and an easy fix is to unscrew and open up the side panel, and secure pipe insulation around the metal pipe if yours is rattling against the compressor when it turns on.

Also, note that if you leave it on for a bit in your house while testing it, you may want to put a towel or tray under it so that if it lets out some water (as is normal with an air conditioner) that it won’t get your place wet.

One last note: We had a hard time finding out what to do about the drain plug on the bottom, with a little rubber stopper. We didn’t know if we should leave that stopper in or take it out, since there was nothing in the manual about it.

After researching online extensively we came to the conclusion that you only need to take it out if you live in a very humid climate, otherwise the vents that allow the water to escape in the back should be enough to let the water out, since there is a fan inside that flings the water through them.

If you take the stopper out in a less humid climate then you run the risk of the ac working less efficiently, because apparently it uses the water in the pan at the bottom of the inside of the ac as part of its cooling strategy.

In conclusion: This AC is awesome if you get a good one. Be prepared to try it out as soon as you get it and just return it for a new one if yours has a problem. I got mine off amazon, where I could return it if I got a bad one, and after shopping around all of the internet I got a decent price as well.

I just have had this unit for about a week now, but so far its great. It cools the room down well and seems to be doing a great job of helping to dry the air, a major plus! It was a fairly straight forward setup, I had a friend install it in the window for me and he was done in under 20 minutes.

The controls are super easy to use and with the remote even easier. I have mine set on low fan and 74 and its veryyy comfortable in my room (its aprox. 340 sq. ft). I have not set it up for the “smart controls”, and probably wont, but still kinda neat to have that option.

I will say, when the compresser is running, it is a bit on the noisy side, not loud enough to make me send it back, but still not super quiet as it was described, though when its only the fan running it is very quiet.

Over all I feel for the price and what this unit does, its a great deal so far.

I replaced a window unit that was installed in 2019 which was very loud and with my having hearing aids it became so annoying, It also was not doing a very good job of conditioning the air and the controls did not work properly.

This window 8000btu unit (LW8016ER) is very quiet and removed the problem I was having with the irritable noice I heard. Also the controls are much more functional and has a few more settings the other unit did not have.

Because of the room size I probably was on the edge of needing a 10000 btu but had to select the 8000btu size because of the window size with only a few inches left on each side. With a little bit more effort it went in very nicely and conditions the air to my satisfaction.

Needless to say I’m happy with this unit.

My last GE window AC ran almost continuously for 3 years. We livid in South FL and weee using it in a back room that did not get cold enough from the central AC. To this day it is still working just fine.

Yet, we wanted a new unit that had the remote control and we chose the GE. Performance speaks louder then advertising and out last GE unit spoke loudy. We will keep the old unit as a back up for hurricane season to cool another bedroom if needed.

As a return specialist for a major home supplier (HD) I can tell you that “I rarely see this units come back, as opposed to other brands”. When I do it’s usually because the customer bought them back after short term use when there central ac is out and they are waiting for it to be repaired.

Not a nice thing to do by the way. Really great little units to have down here for hurricane season to set up a hurricane room to sleep in comfort running off a generator when the power is out for days.

So if you buy them for that central outage, keep them and store them away for that time you will need them and everyone is sold out of portables.

If you like simple this unit is as simple as it gets. Does what it should blows cold air. Not that noisy on low or high. It doesn’t rattle unit seems to be tight for the most part. Now the only thing I think they went to cheap on was the vents that control air flow.

They only adjust left to right, no up or down movement. To me that seems a little to cheap but like I said it doesn’t rattle. It would still be nice to be able to control the up and down position of the vent air flow.

Case seem to be painted well and it is made from metal not plastic. Compressor is China and so is fan motor but looked up name and it seems to be one of the better China compressor. Shaft that operates the blower cage seems to be positioned good and balanced so there is little to no vibration.

One plus I give GE is that it does have a drain hole on the unit so you can decide if you want the water to be splashed on the coils for a 2 percent better cooling. Most other units don’t give this option and the water hitting the fan blades will drive you crazy if installed in a bedroom.

So far a decent low budget unit.

Purchased for Summer 2020. Was a decent purchase to start. It ran that Summer and was great at keeping our room cool. Husband took it apart at the end of the season and cleaned everything out for storage.

Summer 2021- one of the hottest we’ve experienced in a while, it ran without issue but was no where near the same coolness as the first Summer. Husband again took apart, cleaned everything and stored for the following year.

Planning for Summer 2022- I am pregnant and a hot day passed through, thought best to pull out the AC unit. We plugged it in, it ran hot air, no cool air at all- and it had an error message pop up. Turns out the gas inside the machine was nearly gone (supposed to be around 12, but was only at 2 -not even 20% of what it was supposed to be).

There is a leak somewhere in the device. Husband took the AC unit into his work to have his refrigeration tech find the leak, hope to repair it (as this unit was over $800 when purchased) and re-charge it to be used for another 2 Summers.

Due to LG’s terrible design, the refrigeration tech confirmed he could not save the device. Not to mention, the interior of this device was borderline moldy/biohazard and incapable of being cleaned. Note to any potential buyers, this is not safe for folks with respiratory problems or children or anyone for that matter.

LG you and your company need to design products that are serviceable and cleanable for the health and safety of your customers and their families. We have a window rattler in the family that ran for 9 years- no issues and is easy to take apart fully and keep clean.

We use this to cool our second story master bedroom with loft area. It is extremely effective at maintaining a cool temperature for sleeping when outside temps are well above 100F. We live on the eastern side of cascade mountains in Washington state where the climate is a dry mountain with cold snowy winters and hot dry summers.

The two drawbacks are the fan volume can be pretty high to be able to move air throughout our larger space. The volume is not noticeable after a bit and turns into white noise. However, when it reaches the setting temperature and cycles off, the noises it makes turning off the motor and the abrupt silence is enough to wake you up.

The same thing happens again in another 20 minutes when it cycles back on and the fan starts up again. Our solution has been to set the temperate low enough the fan never really turns off all night and to use a blanket.

The second change would be a more universal exhaust frame. The issued frame is only for vertical or horizontal sliding windows and not casement or hopper windows. It’s not an inexpensive air conditioner, seems like an exhaust frame for all window styles is needed.

I would buy it again as it is the most reliable brand for portable AC units in my opinion.

This is by far the best portable air conditioner I’ve ever owned. Clearly a hot seller because it sells out fast every time it comes in stock. It’s no wonder that this is the best seller. First of all, the best attribute about this AC is that is is at least 10 db quieter than any other I’ve tried in the past.

I used to review gadgets for a living so I know what’s good and what stinks. It’s below 50 db when the fan is on low. Keep in mind that it still makes noise and if you have it running for a month or two and some dust gets inside it that it will start to make a bit more noise than it does when you first get it.

When the compressor starts up it makes the usual clicking and squishing as the condenser fills up. It is however a bigger unit than most AC units and it’s insulated so that makes it quieter, but make sure you give it room around it to work properly.

It comes with one tube to vent outside or through your wall with. It has a wonderful sleek high quality design, feels like a good appliance. I think this sets the benchmark for portable AC’s so other brands really need to improve theirs to compete.

They should understand that we need these things by our beds to sleep at night. This LG unit is quiet enough to sleep next to it so most people I know that get one end up wanting to get two for their apartments.

I’ve had it running for a month or so and have not had to empty it out yet, but I have had to vacuum the filters to keep them clean. The remote is great, it also has a very easy to use and easy to set up app to use with your wifi.

And it’ll work with your wifi even if the machine is off, as long as it is plugged it it will be connected once it’s set up. I can’t really complain about this unit. It’s 14400 BTU so it will cool a 500 sq ft room easily.

I think it’s powerful enough to cool a regular 600 sqft room to be honest. I’m south west facing, top floor, big windows. I use blackout blinds when the sun hits the windows and it gets the room nice and chilly.

Highly recommend this for a portable AC.

So very happy I got this air conditioner, it works flawlessly. compared to any of the many others I have had, this one is simply the best. What I noticed first was that it takes so much of the moisture out of the air.

I am able to set it 2 degrees higher than my other older AC unit and feel so much more comfortable. The auto function is amazing, I never have to say I have to adjust it to cool, fan only or shut it off.

It does all that as the room temperature changes with no input from me. today was a great test for it, 98-degree heat index, and this unit never blinked an eye at it. It is an amazingly quiet unit, it is in my bedroom/office area.

It does not bother my sleep in the least, I never notice it running. When it starts back up when needed, it barely makes a sound, no grumbling when the condenser kicks in. Just glides into action and the same when it goes back to fan mode.

This unit is cooling a space of 220 sf that has 3 open doorways to it so the actual area is bigger as the air escapes slightly. I spend 80% of my day in this area, this unit makes for a great comfort zone.
