20 Best Adjustable Wrench Made In Usa (2022 Updated)

I decide to try out the 12 inch Ridgid adjustable wrench since own some other Ridgid power equipment and are great products. The 12 inch adjustable wrench is amazing. I do own other adjustable wrenches and they can’t even come close to Ridgid superior quality.

This wrench and the others I am going to purchase will be passed down for generations.

Was giving these as a gift from the smallest to largest size!!! Would recommend them to any plumber out there I have never had any issues with them! When tighting things they don’t slip nor expand /decrease in size!.

I have had these for a month or so. The wrenches have a very tight fit so you aren’t constantly adjusting the knurl time and time again or busting your knuckles. Made in the USA is a big plus as well.

It’s a 4″ adjustable wrench!! RIGHT?? It is. I’m really trying to give these cheaper tools an honest go here. I’m not a complete tool snob either. I use what works for the task at hand. Cranking nuts, and bolts off doesn’t require anything too special.

This wrench for me gets carried in my pocket. I currently carry a 4″ blue point. I bought this as a cheaper alternative for a friend. Comparing the Tekton to the BluePoint. well; it’s just not a comparison.

The main issue with adjustables(any brand) is the amount of slop in the sliding jaw, and with this it’s A LOT!! With the slop comes the inherent tendency for the wrench to loose its adjustment really quickly.

So for me, I’d give this to my 12yr Old son, but not a coworker. I own, and use other tekton tools, and they work great for their intended purposes. The customer service is spot on. You break a tool, fill out their online claim form, and a replacement comes in the mail in a few days.

I’ve always had positive experiences with them, and will continue to purchase, and use their products. But I’m always going to be honest about the purchases I make. Regardless of the manufacturer.

Disappointed, very cheaply made. Sliding jaw is lose. Will not take much pressure, I’m afraid it will break. Not as good as the old, (no longer made), Craftsman 4 inch Crescent wrench. Not worth $9. + dollars.

Possible China Junk? Not worth sending back.

I have purchased several of these both for home and for my staff at work. They’re small enough to put into a small pocket. The thumbwheel and jaw has a very smooth operation. The scale comes in handy that has been laser etched onto the stationary part of the jaw.

One side is metric, the other in fractions. The fractional side is graduated in 1/16ths up to 9/16″ I measured the actual opening and the particular one that I measured will open to. 630″ or 5/8″. However in general the torque needed to loosen or tighten a fastener of that size would exceed the limit on the wrench.

The tag on the wrench does state 1/2″ capacity. For the money this is a great little wrench that will come in handy for you.

Love it. It grips well, adjusts easily. Good heft. It’s just enough bigger than my regular wrenches that it does some household things I otherwise would use a bulky pipe wrench on. The handle coating is very solid.

I needed to hit it with a hammer to loosen an overtightened gas connection, and my other wrenches wouldn’t do it. The coating helped this happen without slipping or denting at all. This will be a favorite powerful tool for larger nuts.

Worth every penny even for this one use, because it saved me from bringing in a plumber during covid for a simple task I can very well do myself. I am strong enough for the task, just didn’t have a tool solid enough to transfer my strength into the nut.

Absolute best adjustable wrench ever! This is the 2nd one I purchased. Very wide jaw, lightweight, doesn’t rust when used underwater. Very precise, with edges that don’t round out.

I love this wrench. I mainly use it for adjusting leveling bolts because we have a wide range of sizes and they dont need a lot of force to be turned so using a really big adjustable wrench is overkill.

I have had many coworkers ask me where I found this wrench after using it. The only down fall of this wrench is the comfortable handle. While the handle is comfortable the grip will become loose and try and slip off the metal handle.

It can simply be pushed back on but it is a little annoying.

Best adjustable wrench. No one makes a better right fitting wrench than crescent. I use this in large hydraulic lines

I broke an old Crescent 18″ while trying to break a nut on a 10 ton floor jack. I purchased this as a replacement. It is a well made wrench but about half the weight and density of the old wrench. Same manufacturer and same size but obviously different from the old school one.

I have 2 of these. About 8 years ago I bought a 10″ version, and a 15″ version 2 years ago. Ridgid adjustable wrenches are the only ones I will buy and use…so little slop!

A month ago I purchased it I purchased it it feels better than using a socket or an open end wrench the adjustable turn knob is smooth and accurate there I must have good value for the money

I bought this wrench for light duty loosing and tightening a nut at the end of a rod because its too deep, even for a deep well socket. I needed an extra wrench to keep on the work bench so I dont have to keep making trips back and forth too the tool box.

I dont have to really crank down to tighten or loosen the nut which is good because the jaw and adjustment on this wrench are pretty lose. You can grab the wrench and shake it and it really rattles. If your not doing real knuckle busting work and want a tool that you dont care about losing or breaking this is probably the way to go for the price.

If you need a wrench that adjusts and tracks well in order to create a good bite on a nut or bolt (especially if rounding it off is a concern) I would look else where. Just my 2 cents.

I have several of these — for the price, they can get a lot done. They are NOT perfect — the jaws don’t open quite as wide as I would like, and I DID break one — my fault. I used it to tighten the big Nut on a trailer-hitch Ball — I used a 3-foot cheater pipe, and over stressed the wrench too much and broke the bottom jaw — my fault.

No big deal — they’re cheap enough to buy another one. That 2″ ball is on for good. The 12″ length is something that I insist on having at every work bench and in every tool box — there are so many situations where you need to back up a big bolt, but you only have One wrench in that size — break out the ole 12″, and getter dun.

Yeah, I have several of these, including one with a broken lower jaw that I use for an “impactor” sometimes.

This Hart brand 12” adjustable pro wrench is better that your average same size adjustable wrench. I compared this side by side to a buddy’s 12” adjustable wrench and it really does open wider than his plain wrench.

It’s about ½” wider opening. That’s significant when you’re on the job. The main points of interest per Hart is 1. Up to 25% wider opening (true), 2. Increased durability high grade steel (to be determined), 3.

Reduced Fastener Rounding (seems true). The jaws are somewhat flanked which leads me to believe #3 will continue to hold true based on past experiences with such. Lastly 4. Laser Etched Ruler by the sliding jaw portion is a nice idea but I’m not sure how valuable that is.

Maybe perhaps if you’re using it in a tight area where you can’t adjust on the fly so to speak. The fact that it has a lifetime warranty makes this a great buy at Walmart’s advertised low price. Btw, my buddy wanted to trade me wrenches, yeah-right.

This is the tool I have been waiting on. The Hart 10 inch Pro adjustable wrench is just what I needed to tighten up the washing machine. I have been trying to use the wrench that I had but since I received the Pro adjustable wrench I finished the job in no time.

The large opening made it easy to get around the hose and the off corner design made it not slip once I was in place. The wrench is easily adjustable and moved to the tightness I needed. It has a long handle so it was easy to reach to where the problem was.

The wrench is heavy duty but it doesn’t weigh too much. It is made from chrome vanadium steel for increased durability. It also has a laser etched ruler for easy to read, accurate adjustments. The wrench is made to put the pressure of the jaws on the screws or bolts but not round off the corners.

It worked so well on everything I used it on. I was truly impressed with the performance of the wrench and I believe it will last a very long time. It also has a lifetime warranty. You can’t beat that!.

I’m sorry to have purchased this crummy tool. I’ve gotten better stuff at Harbor Freight. The adjustable jaw is loose and doesn’t slide smoothly, the adjustment thumbwheel is difficult to turn with one hand, the black coating seems a little sticky, and overall the feel of this tool is just bad.

I’ve returned it. It’s just a lightweight junky wrench that has no place in my toolbox.

I bought the Tekton version of this wrench first, and it was defective and badly put together, the milling was so rough that I had to force the jaws closed, so it was barely useable. I returned that and bought this for only a couple of dollars more, and it’s almost perfect.

Much better milling, absolutely smooth motion, and you can tell that almost every part has more attention to detail. Definitely worth a little more money to have a solid and well built wrench.

The wrench is very handy for tight spots. Maintains adjustment size well while repositioning. Smooth adjustment with one hand. Not an everyday tool, but a great time save when access is to confined for a normal length wrench.

Chrome finish seams to be of good quality. Achieves a good grip/fit on fasteners.

I use this wrench from fastening nuts to securing faucets to sinks. The wide jaws prove to be wider than my 10″ wrench. I don’t need to change my wrench nearly as much compared to when I didn’t have it.

I would change 2 things. The adjusting screw is sensitive and adjusts even when I put the tool down. The 2nd change is size up the loop to fit 1/2″ all-thread rod.

I bought this wrench to carry with me on my maintenance job. I figured the wide opening jaw would allow it to fit more things without the need to roll my big toolbox to the job. So far it has worked out very well.

It is high quality and the jaws stay where you adjust them. The 1 1/2 inch opening will fit most bolts, nuts and fittings you will run across. Pleased with purchase.

This is not as advertised. overpriced junk. Not “Crescent” brand. some offbeat crappy imitation. Sorry I bought it. will round off nuts and bolts as it does not have good tight grip. loose rails. Would give zero rating if I could.

I changed my review from one star to three only because the vendor gave me a complete refund. So I guess no harm, no foul. Other than the lost time all is good.

These wrenches appear to be good quality and the price on sale was pretty good as well. It’s too early to judge how durable they are or how precise but, during early use, the tighten feature seemed to be a little better than ordinary crescent wrenches.

I like the measurement markings. Each one is accurate, not a precision Swiss watch, but very accurate. They do not slip and take my plumbing and biking (striking) needs.

The wrenches in this set are very heavy and thick. The 10 inch wrench weighs around 18 oz. They could have been made thinner and lighter, and yet be more than adequate for their purpose. The fit and finish are very good, the chrome plating is better than the current yellowish nickel finishes in vogue.

There appears to have been some post plating steps taken to smooth the jaw faces and eliminate forging flash and smear that is commonly found on other adjustable wrenches. The jaws on the set I received were almost perfectly parallel and much appreciated.

Adjustable wrenches are basically open end wrenches. Would you tolerate an open end wrench that you couldn’t slide off the nut because the jaws were pinched slightly closer together at the mouth than at the throat? Most manufacturers of adjustable wrenches overlook this most fundamental requirement.

Milwaukee’s use of a finer pitched worm adjuster requires 11 1/3 turns to close the jaws from fully open, compared to around 8 1/2 turns for other wrenches with the same jaw span, but in actual use didn’t require any extra effort.

In fact, it is easier on the thumb than other wrenches that rely on an overly stiff spring to prevent worm adjuster creepage. One place where improvement could be made is the etched inch scale on the side – on this wrench the smallest divisions are in eighths, whereas everyone else has settled on sixteenths of an inch.

There are times when an adjustable wrench is very useful and these Milwaukee wrenches beat the competition. There is literally no slop in the adjustable jaw so an adjusted size stays put. Great quality and strong wrenches for sure.

I also have the Milwaukee 12″ adjustable wrench. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of adjustable wrenches that don’t slip due to sloppy jaws.

Had high hopes for the quality of these but they’re only average, small amount of slop in the jaws and I’ve no doubt they are plenty strong, but poorly finished sharp edges, bahco and CK still a better adjustable.

The wrench as received by me had quality control issues rendering the handle latch a total fail. The handle latch did not engage for locking the handle in a chosen position. After disassembling the wrench I found the casting of the handle was not properly machined to enable latch engagement.

The manufacture relied on casting quality instead of milling the indentation for the paul to slide into. This caused the handle to work loose all the time with little to no effort. Great design wrench but cheap execution of design dimensions.

Like the versatility, I don’t like how it acts inconsistent when operating. The ratchet reverse action is iffy at best, it doesn’t seem to work unless the width of the wrench vs. the nut is not tight but a bit loose.

I think that Crescent needs to reevaluate the actions and improve the ratchet reverse feature.

I do a lot of work with iron black pipe of various sizes. This wrench has made tightening the fittings together a piece of cake. It grips for either tightening or loosening without adjusting for different diameters and slips the opposite direction, so there is no re-adjusting.

The handle is long enough to give you leverage and lighter than any regular pipe wrench. For what I use this for, there is no better tool. I bought a second one.

Make sure you know that you’re paying for a Made In USA tool Crescent / Cooper , or other USA made tool or tools. That’s why you still see older tools around , you get what you pay for. These tools will be around long after we’re gone just as they have been in recent years.

I see tools on eBay , flee shops , and other places. I hate to say it but most Americans are quick to buy cheap import tools made in China , Taiwan and most of the time they don’t last. Most importantly, American jobs are fading because American companies want to maximize profits and use basically slaves to turn out thier products.

I’m sorry if I offended anyone but that’s a whole other problem. Buy American made for American workers. One more note ; the whole Made In USA ( With Global Components ) Still not %100 Made In USA.

It is very hard to find small sized tools that are actually well made. I work with low pressure air-lines and well made small tools are very desirable. 4-inch tools are often made like for key-rings, or for “looks,” but not as functional tools.

This one, however, is a good one. Very well made. Smooth action, nice finish, no problems at all. Looks nice in the toolbox.

The AT14 Black Oxide Finish 4″ model is stamped USA and according to the manufacturer’s website is made in the USA. The wrench is quality made. The precision machined jaw fits tightly and provides a nice tight grip on a bolt head or nut.

My primary use of this wrench is holding “backup” on a nut that I’m using a racket to remove a bolt from. I don’t have to worry if it’s metric or SAE this little gem does the trick. As one of the other reviewers mentioned the length is a little over 4″ (actually 4 3/8″) but,I haven’t found this to be an issue.

Might be a good idea to get one while they’re still made in the USA.

I cant believe I am writing this but the Doyle adjustable wrenches are far superior than the Craftsman brand sold at Lowes, Ace and other retailers. I went shopping for a 10 inch wrench at those other stores and the quality was very poor: rough handles, jaws did not align, sloppy jaw fit.

I went and checked out Doyle at Harbor Freight and was blown away. The wrenches had none of the problems and had a metric and standard scale on the jaws. NICE JOB Doyle! Have already used these on a total sink redo of faucet and drains for three sinks and they worked GREAT!.

I’ve been buying Craftsman tools forever, however lately I’ve had issues and hassles with their warranty. So I went my local Harbor Freight in search of a 12 inch adjustable wrench and discovered their new Doyle brand of tools.

I could tell as soon as I picked up the tool it was heavy duty and well machined. Once out of the package I immediately noticed the smooth action and how well this tool is made. When using the wrench the jaw stayed tight and adjusted.

To top it off it’s cheaper than Craftsman. Given the no hassle guarantee buying tools from Harbor Freight is a no brainer.

I like the size of this wrench. And the comfortable feel in the hand. It has good weight to it. And works well. The length allows for good leverage on the piece you are working on. Once adjusted to the correct size, the wrench holds that size while working with it.

slippage was not an issue. this is one of those tools which may not get used often, but your glad you have it when the need arises.

Recently, I bought the 3-piece Craftsman adjustable wrench set. It has proven to have been an excellent purchase. I’m not a professional mechanic or in the construction business. In fact, as much as I want to be and try, I’m not all that handy around the house.

But I keep trying. I’ve used Craftsman mechanic tools for 30+ years and am just now beginning to use their hand tools for work around the house and for volunteer work on homes being built by churches and Habitat.

The quality of this Craftsman wrench set is just as good as the Craftsman mechanic tools I’ve been using for decades. I especially like the variety of sizes of the wrenches in this set. Thus far, one of them has been the size I needed each time I’ve needed to use a wrench.

All three provide a solid grip. I’m also pleased with the weight of the wrenches. They’re light enough to handle easily but substantial enough to provide the strength needed for tough situations. Finally, I’m very pleased with the pricing of this set.

I believe these wrenches are priced fairly especially considering the quality of the tools and the Craftsman lifetime warranty that comes with them. I enthusiastically recommend this wrench set. As long as the Craftsman quality and fair pricing are maintained, I expect that I’ll buy additional hand tools they offer for years to come.

This is a great wrench. Adjustable wrenches can feel pretty flimsy and sometimes you can worry the screw might even fall out and ruin the whole wrench. Not this one. You can’t go wrong with This Stanley wrench.

This thing is heavy-duty. I love how tight the screw mechanism is and how true it works. The wrench has lasered in measurements so you can see how open the jaws are which I really like as an added feature.

It’s not a huge wrench which means it can get into small spaces nicely. I use it in a bathroom with a toilet that gets wobbly now and then to tighten the screws. I put this thing through the wringer and got it pretty dirty and mucky and it cleaned right up.

This feels like a professional-quality tool.

I received this crescent wrench a couple weeks ago and wondered if it ever use it because of its size. After the first use it instantly became a part of my every day tool belt and box. I’ve used it several times a day and have gotten rid of my medium wrench altogether.

It fits everywhere a medium and larger sizes wrench won’t and it still gets large enough for most everyday nuts and bolts. It slides easy and never slips, it also keeps its size without having to adjust it every new bolt of the same size.

Love this wrench and have bought and recommend it for friends and family.

If I’m being honest I expected better from Stanley. I have lots of Stanley tools I like and enjoy using, this wrench isn’t bad it’s just not good. There’s some play In the jaws and they’re tapered so it’s hard, but not impossible, to pull the wrench off.

I did have to put significant pressure on to round over the nut so it does the job okay but it’s just not enjoyable to use. Fine for the average homeowner? Sure. Fine for the average tradesman? Probably not.

This review is to counter the one star review claiming they’re not made in the USA, showing an unclear photo. As you can see here (the 3 pocket model at least) is labeled as being made in the USA with global materials, at the time of purchase, July 2021.

I can’t comment on the durability yet, but it is thick and very stiff leather indicating it will last a very long time. My one criticism is with the hard plastic inserts along the sides of the main pocket to provide a box structure to the pocket.

I honestly don’t think it’s needed and the pocket would still retain enough shape to not negatively affect it’s capability. Also, I would prefer if the entire thing was about a half inch smaller all around as I feel it is a bit bulky for being their smallest offering.

I use this daily at work. I’ve bought cheaper adjustable wrenches and they sometimes lose their adjustment; you have to keep tightening up the adjuster. The tapered end of this is perfect for aligning bolt together flanges.

I went with Klein because I knew I would be prying with it and didn’t want it to break. I’d buy this tool again, very happy with it.

I’ve used this thing for over a year and the leather has not been anything but rock solid. My only complaint and why it lost a star under “sturdiness” is that the little “clip” on the front came off/lost the rivet.

Not that I really could figure out the point of the clip, I’d rather have a tape chain/hook. Im still thinking I’ll put a tape chain where the clip used to go if I can figure out the best way to mount it.

Overall though great pouch. I can fit tools in it for all the work I do in commerical electrical work ( running conduit, running MC cable, underground, installing or wiring up panels) and the tools fit very well and snugly for the most part other than my torpedo level sticking to my Klein’s or dikes.

Seem to work ok. A little wobbly at the at the head but the gears haven’t slipped yet. Then again I haven’t used them long enough to tell how well they will hold up. I bought Crescent set (also made in China) for much higher price and the quality appears to be similar.

For the price and for occasional use, these will do the trick for me. If I was a professional, I’d look into more precise, higher quality wrenches. Do I recommend these? Yes. For occasional home use.

Not for trade where you depend on your tools to make a living.
