A fantastic little portable electro acoustic guitar amp. A great full stereo sound with a clear and warm tone, no hiss or noise. The built in mic simulations and effects are top notch. Plenty loud enough as a home practise amp.
I doubt it would be loud enough for gigs, but it isn’t designed for that purpose. It gives your electro acoustic a lovely warm ambient tone and is just great fun. Solidly built, looks high quality and very retro and vintage.
Has an inbuilt warm glow to simulate a tube glow, which I really love. It is Portable with a very compact size and runs on mains or batteries. I would highly recommend it. PMT are a really great company to deal with, their prices are excellent, delivery service is second to none.

I have a large Marshall amp already but needed something more portable, ideally with effects built in, that I can take with me when I’m away or move around the house with easily. I’d had this little baby recommended to me as a great acoustic guitar amp by a friend and what an excellent recommendation it was.
Firstly let’s talk size. It’s the size of radio and weighs just 2kg. It’s mains or battery powered so truly portable and useable outside. You can take it on holiday with you it’s so small! It has quite a nice retro look as well with a nice orange glow coming out of the front grille when you switch it on.
Enough of all that. Let’s move on to what really matters in an amp. The sounds you get from this little baby are simply amazing with 4 different microphone emulations along with a combo amp setting (for a more electric sound) to choose from.
Most of these can then be altered with the Blend/Gain, Master and Tone dials. That’s quite a range of sound. On top of that though you then have a range of effects you can apply including compressor and chorus, which can also be combined, as well as delay and several reverb settings.
There is also a tuner cleverly built in. In terms of other inputs and outputs besides your trusty guitar there is a headphone socket (which my partner rather likes!) and an Aux socket for plugging in an external sound source.
A lead is supplied for that. So, want to play along to some tunes from your phone. plug it in and away you go. On top of all that there is a USB socket (lead, again, supplied) so you can plug into your PC and make use of the CuBase AI software that is also provided.
I’ve not used the software yet but from what I can see it’s home studio software so you can record your guitar playing and mix your own music. Quite a few people who have used it think it’s amazing. So in short, do I recommend this.

Yamaha produce some great products at a favourable price point and the THR 5 is no exception to this. A portable and aesthetically pleasing solution for practicing or recording in a small room environment.
An array of useable tones and effects are possible with the added ability to plug in your external audio device enabling you to play along to your favourite tracks and have some fun along the way! A USB provides connection to an external recording set up you may have or are considering in the future.
Nothing is perfect in this world of ours, so if I’m being super critical I feel this would benefit from longer battery life and a volume and tone control on the aux in. Sound and tone are subjective and everybody has there own ideas on this.
I personally think this is hard to be beat for the positive reasons that I have mentioned. I originally purchased one when they first appeared and sold it on in my search for perfection. Here I am approximately ten years later buying exactly the same item again.

Without a doubt the best compact battery powered amp on the market. After a lot research video reviews etc this amp seemed to get the majority of positive reviews and now I understand why. Clear sound, loud, cool features perfect for playing at home or travel.
The fact I can keep it in a drawer and not worry about having to plug it in to the wall made it the perfect amp.
I needed a small battery powered acoustic guitar amp to which I could also hook up my ipad. I watched some YouTube videos to compare several. I settled on the Blackstar Fly3 Acoustic for these reasons.
I plan to use it at home as a practice amp and for traveling. It arrive with 6 AA batteries included. I fired it up and was blown away. The videos I watched made this sound amazing and they did not deceive.
The sound is clear enough and loud enough to be heard outside well beyond twenty-five feet. The switchable EQ shapes, the bass treble knobs, and the delay effect gives it a satisfactory range of adjustment for an acoustic.

In the early 90’s as a much younger man I had a small battery powered amp. it wasn’t any good. Fast forward some 30 years and the Blackstar Fly 3 has redefined small battery powered amps. The Fly 3 is as good as the reviews suggest.
Plenty of sound tweaking through the clean and OD channels. Battery life is good. over a week of playing (including it on overnight) and its still going strong. Whilst it doesn’t come with a power cable I can’t see it being an issue, its great being able to take it to the couch or another room and not have to worry about plugging in.
For its size it is loud, not the sort of loud that you can feel through your body, but loud enough for what it is. Works well to use in a room with others but not being too dominating in the room. The Bluetooth works well and was easy enough to connect to the Iphone, Ipad and even a laptop.
You can play music through to use as a backing track, or just play music to listen to by the pool. I got the limited edition blue. just to be different. From all reports it sounds better than the black.

This item was listed as “New” (at the corresponding price point), but what I ended up getting was a poorly-packed floor model from a random store location that didn’t even work. I plugged it in for 2 days and it never even started to take a charge.

I played with a Fishman SA220 Solo Amp for years, so I knew going in that the sound quality was going to be awesome with the Loudbox Mini. But nothing prepared me for just how good the sound would be.
It really took me by surprise. As with any amp, you have to take some time to get the EQ settings right for the guitar you’re playing, but the super-response 3-band EQ makes it incredibly easy to dial in your sound.
I played a gig over the weekend and used my Taylor T5z and Gibson J-45 Avant Garde with the amp. They both sounded incredible through the amp! I was so jazzed. For that gig, I used the amp mainly as a reference monitor that I plugged into the FOH.
It worked perfectly in that application. But truth be told, the amp really doesn’t come into its own until the speaker’s pushing some air. While it sounds great at lower volumes, there’s something special that happens at higher volumes that’s a little hard to articulate.
There’s a depth to the sound that isn’t apparent at lower volumes, and you really don’t get the full effect of the onboard reverb and chorus until you start pushing air. So I actually upped my stage volume a bit so I could hear/feel that effect.
🙂 Truth be told, I haven’t used a microphone with it, but based on my experience with the SA220 and the general quality of the sound from my guitars, I have no doubt that this will be a great performer for vocals as well! What’s really cool is that each channel has its own EQ and individual reverb.
These are musts for a solo performance amp as far as I’m concerned. All that said, combine that great sound with incredible portability (it’s about the size of a truck battery), and you’ve got a winner! But let’s be honest here, it’s not an AER.
The bass response is not nearly as good as on those units. But it’s close; close enough that if you’re plugged into a FOH or DAW, you can compensate for the lower bass on the EQ panel of the mixer. It’s also a fraction of the price of an AER.
The value proposition of the Loudbox Mini far exceeds what it may lack in terms of sound quality as compared to a high-end system. Finally, what I love about having this unit is that for solo gigs, I now have options.
I can use this unit for small cafe or private residential parties, then use my JBL Eon One for larger venues. Pretty cool!.
I’m a Praise/Worship leader playing weekly as solo instrument or with varied vocalists & instruments. I also play instrumentals, and use a custom shop Ovation 12 string and an older Custom Legend 12 into an Allen & Heath 32 Channel Analog Board.
After more than 4 decades, I hold this belief- any plugged in guitar sounds better through an amp before sending to a larger system. This amp fills the room on it’s own & with excellent sound integrity, but the XLR out is wonderful.
We’re not noisy like a bar or pub, but we have up to 80 people singing out. –READ ON for More Detail– Covid19? No problem. We can mix a mic/guitar from the amp & send it on, despite a lack of sound/tech folks, or add a power module to run 2-3 vocalists via condenser mic along with my guitar.
At 20lbs & a 6. 5 speaker it goes anywhere you want, from your deck to community events. Seems very well made. People who write about limits of small amps often have limited placement options which does affect sound in a given room.
The reverb is OK, Chorus more a tone enhancer than effect. As with any amp, your instrument has it’s own strengths & weaknesses and the amp will mostly reflect that. I bought the cream version & really like the look.

Purchased as Xmas present for my teenage daughter who is a budding acoustic guitar player but also plays electric occasionally with clean tones only (no use or need for distortion or overdrive). Small size and ample volume for her needs make it great addition to her room.
Lovely clean sound for her Yamaha electro-acoustic and my Fender Strat (which she has stolen!!). Built in chorus is nice addition but nowhere near as nice a sound as a dedicated pedal. Sufficient tone control and option for mic as well plus headphones out if desired.

The sound this little trouper puts out is dimensional and warm. Quite a bit of pump for a box that weights little more than a box of kleenex. It is my go to for rehearsing and performing in small venues with my arch top and vocal.
Biggest happy surprise is that this unit is pedal friendly! Using the excellent three band EQ of the guitar channel aggressively, I get a tone out of my solid body guitars using my favorite OD that for me is second to none.
Must be that mini tube. The amp has served me well for about 8 months of daily use. Funny thing, one day after I rearranged my studio, it was emitting an ugly repeated click. I shuddered in fear, but then figured out I had placed the tube too close to my wifi.
Like a true tube, it picked up the electronic emission. My lament is the lack of a direct out. It is aggravating not to be able to record direct and simple while I use the speaker; and, hey Vox, I would have bought a second AG for use in larger venues and louder rehearsals if only you would have given me the direct out.
I hope Vox expands on the concept and builds a 100 watt, 10″ speaker, about 15 lbs, WITH DIRECT OUT. If they do, I will be happy to own both units.
the most amazing lightweight personal amp I’ve ever owned. It has a microphone input too. The power and big sound from this is almost unbelievable. I can’t turn up the master volume past 3 in a practice studio, so lots of grunt left for outdoor settings.

Since my old GK200 4 ch was stolen, I have been on the search for the perfect grab and go pa amp. When I saw this Vox at 9 lbs I had to try and was very pleased. But with all these small gig PA’s, one has something the other one is lacking.
If I was to design my perfect to go amp, I would probably start with this one. The reverb is weak so why not add a delay chip like some of the others have. I use background tracks now and I see most of these amps have an auxiliary but why not add a volume control knob ( it’s had to slide a little nano touch screen in hurry) Chorus is ok.
The first thing I try with these amps is how much bottom they can hold on my voice and a good thug on my Martin (I don’t see much talk about that in reviews) It surprised me again for the weight. I know you can add pedals but defeats the purpose right? The price beets others in this class too.
Oh yes it’s big brother would be a 10″ speaker and 10 more watts at 12 lbs. Ha!.

I recently grabbed this beauty to use with my array of acoustic electric guitars (Gibson L-00 Rosewood, Martin 000-17E, Taylor 324ce, Breedlove Oregon Myrtlewood Concertina, and Breedlove Premier Adirondack/Rosewood Concert).
I will especially need it when it comes time to play shows again, and I was interested in this amp as it has two channels (one for guitar and one for vocals). The sound is perfect and so true to the tone and nuances of each guitar that I’m mostly just mad at myself that it took me this long to get ahold of this amp.
It is deep and full sounding and also has an excellent grouping of effects (the delay and reverb are stellar). There are more expensive acoustic amps out there (I own one of them) but this is the best that I’ve used.
It will give you absolutely everything that you need to annoy your neighbors or to perform in front of a small-to-medium-sized room full of people.
Overall I’m very pleased. Other reviews have covered most everything, so I’ll just add a few comments. While I love the sound of this amp, it’s pretty under-powered when used with dynamic mics or a passive guitar pickup.
I have a Taylor 712 ce with a K&K mini installed, and it benefits greatly from running the signal into a LR Baggs Para Acoustic Guitar DI and Preamp first. Similarly, a dynamic mic like a Shure 58 sounds fine, but will do much better with a preamp of some sort.
I prefer to use a condenser like an Audio-Technica AE5400. I also have the big brother of this amp, the 200-watt version. I like to take a line out from that amp and run it into the 100 for use as a stage monitor.
The amp sound basically identical, so that eliminates the need for messing around much with the EQ – what you hear is what is going out to the audience. There’s no tilt-back mechanism on the 100 but I find that a foam block like what’s used for transporting a kayak serves as a nice support to lean it on.
One other thing – this is a beautiful amp and deserves some protection. I don’t think that Musicians Friend as of this writing stocks a cover for it, but ione is available at a reasonable price online if you look around a bit.
Bottom line – this is a very nice little amp. Allowing for the gain issues noted above, I’m very pleased with both the 100 and 200-watt versions.
I bought this amp while on tour as a backup and it’s the best clutch decision I’ve ever made. I love the warmth this amp adds to my acoustic, and the effects are great extra addition to my performances.
I mainly use this amp for my acoustic that’s tuned in open D. It gives it all the bottom end that I love! Highly recommend this amp.

Cheaply made unit. Advertised as “Metal” but really just high gain and not that good; not a clean Metal sound at all. I don’t mind a good crunchy high gain sound but this one doesn’t have it. Useful for seeing if your guitar’s pickups are functioning.
At 15, the price is way too high for this kind of quality or the lack of.
Used with a Fender Tele, it’s ideal for playing the pickups as they’re designed to work. So it would be useful in a guitar shop, when comparing different guitars rather than using their amp with effects.
And yes, you can get an electric ‘acoustic’ sound with a bit of fiddling, though the Tele does that anyway. I’ve given it 4 stars, as I have nothing to compare it with. And the battery life is unknown.
Good for practicing in private. Sounds pretty good. Not expensive. The power switch seems a bit fragile. I bought a short guitar extension lead to allow it to be separated flexibly from the guitar (Les Paul).

I’ve been jamming with a neighbor for a few months now and even though it’s just the two of us on acoustic guitars in his living room (playing covers from Simon & Garfunkle, The Beatles, The Milk Carton Kids, etc.
), he really likes to be amped up. I grabbed this amp when it was on sale and I’m really happy with it. It’s easy to transport (across the street) and simple to use. This is my first acoustic amp, so I don’t know if this is normal, but the tone and volume controls do seem to lack subtlety.
Anything past 1 or 2 for tone seems way overboard, and anything past 3 or 4 on the volume knob feels dangerously close to feedback. It’ll take some practice, I think, to really unlock this amp’s potential, but it has made a really good first impression on me.

Might not have bought this because I don’t really use an amp much where I live, but with the Stupid Deal discount and my rewards points, I ended up paying just under twenty for this, and what a bargain.
This little amp has punch and clarity. There are limited controls, and the only thing I’m surprised it didn’t have is a jack for a foot switch to go between the gain and clean channels. Instead, there’s only a little gray button which is perfectly functional, but a footswitch jack would have been a really useful feature on this amp.
The channels are very distinct from one another. The gain starts out low and a little chunky and goes to 11. I have a low-price Jackson 7-string with stock pickups, and this amp made my little beater guitar sound amazing.
There is a great deal of punch in this amp, making it perfect for getting some massively chunky metal sounds. I haven’t even tried to turn it above 6 or so on the master volume because the one time I did go that high, my next door neighbor suddenly turned his TV up really loud.
Yes, this little amp has a LOT of volume. Perfect for a mid-volume band practice. I have a feeling it will start to get a little out of control if pushed much higher than 7 or 8, but at 6, it’s really loud and has great gain.
Really impressed with this amp and glad I bought it.
I bought this amp wanting something that was as stripped down as possible without all the bells and whistles and something with a good clean tone. I’ve been playing guitar for quite some time now, almost 20 years and yes I’ve been through the gamut of amps from Fender to Marshall to Vox and Orange amps, all nice and each with their own distinctive tones.
I recently purchased an Orange RT 20 and while I do like the tone of the amp, there’s just something that doesn’t quite do it for me. These days I’m more into just sculpting my own tone rather than mimicking someone else’s and this little Acoustic does it for me.
I mean this little baby has an awesome clean and you can just forget that whole only 10 watts thing. My floor shakes anything past 12 o’clock and the mid boost button gives this amp serious warmth that you really don’t need any reverb.
It doesn’t have any effects like the 35 watt one but I just use my digitech rp500 as a pedal board and problem solved. The dirt channel is good as well but I hardly use it as the clean channel is just sooo good! No you won’t be gigging with this amp although in my opinion, miced up, you could probably get by at the local bar or pub and still rock the house.
Besides, after 3 drinks, who in the world really cares about your tone besides you? How good is this little 10 watt amp in my opinion especially for a good home practice amp? Let’s just say that all of my other amps must be wondering what happened to their owner because I haven’t plugged any of them in in a very long time.
And it even sounds wonderful with headsets which I recently found out. I really like this amp and because their still being sold continuously at Guitar Center and not trash heaped or discontinued like some other amps I won’t mention tells me that others like it too.
The tones that come out of this are amazing. I have larger more powerful amps. They are heavy and can get very loud. but the tones are not better. The cleans with a telecaster ring and have depth without boom or ice pick.
The little speaker stays clean well up on the volume. The mid shift makes a dramatic change in tone. I have no other amp at any price that will do this. I thought I would need reverb but it does not need it.
It is that clear. The distortion channel is very good as well. Not for metal. it is a bit more difficult to get mild breakup even at loud levels with either channel. Makes me wonder about the larger ones.
Simple, light (but heavy for its size), small enough to store in an end table. it is cheaply priced. It is now my favorite practice amp. No messing with presets or effects. It just sounds great. I am stunned.
My tube amps are going to get a rest as will my previous practice amp. mustang 1 V2. I have not closely compared but it may sound better than the Bugera t5 through the 12″ cab. It is a bedroom practice amp only.

Pairs nicely with Epiphone Masterbilt acoustic-electric. I bought this to be heard at a small local bar where I occasionally play in a wood-paneled alcove that absorbs sound. This amp is highly portable and is adequate for a living room party or for the small audience I bought this for.
The sound seems fine even cranked up, which isn’t going to make the walls shake but loud enough to annoy the neighbors if you play late at night. It is sensitive enough to play at low volume in your bedroom and has a headphone jack.
I play a variety of styles, flatpicking and finger-style, and am able to hear the effect of playing with the ridges of my fingerprints. (Not really a performance technique, but a gauge of how much sonic detail gets reproduced.
) Not a gigging amp, it is good for when you want a small, battery-operated way to boost your sound. The reverb is a nice feature. The chorus is a heavy effect with no way to adjust it and I probably won’t use it much.
The “Wide” button seems to change the direction of the sound, but I haven’t played with it enough to know how to take advantage of that feature. Optimized for acoustic guitar, I’ve played my Les Paul and D’Angelico hollowbody through it with fine results, obviously playing clean.
I commented that this amp has good warmth, but I want to qualify that by saying it has good warmth for a low-powered amp with small speakers. Trebles are emphasized and lows are not prominent; still the sound reproduction seems faithful and not at all tinny.
It sounds good. I am happy with my purchase and will keep this amp.
Is this going to be a cheap plastic box with some tinny sounding little speakers? All the positive reviews must be over rated. I noticed the shipping box was kind of on the heavier side. The little amp is kinda heavy.
The sound and tone is really nice. The weight must be in the speakers. I also have the Roland 5 watt Cube Street. Other than the Street has bigger speakers the quality of sound out of the AC is all as good and can get loud.
The EQ tone knob does a lot more than expected. The chorus is either on or off. A bit much but useable. The reverb is nice nothing weird. Reverbs all the channels at once. I plugged in a mic into the vocal channel and only did a few words.
It seems it would be fine. I plugged in my phone and tried the aux input. Nice. The stereo button works very noticeable. I can see using this easily at outdoor low volume gigs. Farmers markets, busking, acoustic jams, and even quiet coffee house set ups.
Overall I really like the portability and the nice sounds out of it for a little package. I mainly wanted it for my lap steel guitars where I just need a decent reverb. It works perfectly.

This amp has a wide range of settings to dial in whatever sound you need for various types of guitars and pickups. I was a little disappointed in the volume limitation when plugging in my acoustics with passive pickups- they just didn’t have any punch even with the dial turned up, but that was corrected somewhat with an XLR>RCA converter jack to boost the signal.
Also the pre-amp in the effects box I have does the same thing. It produced great tone and presence on an electric 12 string, classical, and irish bouzouki which all have active pickups. What really impressed me was how it handles vocal and instrument together.
No feedback and plenty of headroom. I’m glad I settled on this model to meet my needs rather than some of the others out there of the same capabilities. The looper is another fun feature that allows you to lay some percussive rhythm down to play along to, or a chord progression to build upon.
Another plus is its small footprint and light weight for portability. I plan to be using it in small rooms where it fills the space without being over bearing. It is a perfect tool for solo performances, but would probably hold its own in a small group as well.
I am surprised how much I like this amp. I play it with a jazz archtop (a Gibson ES-175). Needed something for small gigs at restaurants and parties. I’ve tried a number of smaller solid state amps made for acoustic guitar.
Most of them either sound boxy, or they color the guitar’s sound ever so slightly. The biggest PROS: this amp delivers a very accurate representation of your instrument’s acoustic voice when played without effects.
It is the nicest sounding, most uncolored amplification I’ve found yet in an amp this size. Professional performance quality at low volumes. Also good, the battery performance. It really does go forever on 8 AA’s.
Get yourself an 8 bank charger and 16 rechargeable and you will never use the AC power supply. I forgot where mine is. The proprietary battery housing in the back of the amp is completely ingenious and impressively robust.
Final big pro: exceptionally light weight. What a luxury. Now the CONS: Not loud enough for a gig with a drummer, unless he’s playing brushes only. There are some battery amps out there by Crate and Roland that are louder, but they have a harder, more high-gain sort of sound better suited to a solid body electric.
So you will also need a heavier amp that requires wall power for times you play with a drummer (if you want your guitar to be audible and still convey its clean, natural voice).

This amp will work best with an external powered speaker, bigger the better. 2×8 combo is not going to get you there if you want to project and disperse with authority. A/E guitars must run with volume way down, like at 2-3, or it will sound like you have overdrive.
Yes, the direct out is dry only. You would not want wet only because then you would not have the choice of dry out, wet mic’d. A switch for wet/dry Direct Out would have been ideal. This is first day, first impression.
First gig review to follow. Purchased for small gigs with one extension speaker. However, there is no mono out so ideally this would work with two external powered speakers, one for your guitar and one for your vocals.
if you want both channels to come out of both external speakers you are out of luck. You could put guitar and vocals on one channel as a workaround I guess. Still figuring this out will need a Y adapter of some kind into my powered Kustom 15.
Or msybe just try two powered 12s or 10s and “keep em seperated. “? Effects are good, easy to implrment and adjust and save. So easy to align the delay time of vocals and guitar to the millesecond. which is vital to clear sound.

I’m very happy with this amp. I wanted an acoustic amp for my new acoustic-electric guitar with a Fishman preamp/pickup. I’ve played in bands and have gone through my share of waste where you buy a piece of gear only to realize it’s not powerful enough or doesn’t have enough features for live use.
So I wanted an amp that sounds good and has enough power and connections for stage, while also being great for the living room or parlor. I like that it can stand vertically like a guitar amp or be kicked back like a wedge monitor.
In fact, my little PA system only has 2 front speakers and no floor monitors, so another use for this was going to be as a floor monitor for vocals. I love that it can accommodate 4 mics/instruments and that each channel has dedicated controls, EQ and effects.
I only played with effects just a little and found very musically sounding chorus and reverb sounds, very useable to make even a singer and single acoustic guitar performance into a “concert”. Sounds is very clear and full, I always knew that 2 speakers sound BETTER than 1, regardless of loudness.
This amp has enough power to fill any size room in any house and is easy to use with the additional XLR-outs to run into a PA for stage use. I love that each channel has a separate XLR-out and can be switched to be pre/post EQ.
Someone was really thinking about all of us when designing this amp.
If you are looking for an acoustic amp on a budget, look no further. The Acoustic A1000 is well made, sounds great and has the bells and epistles of a much more expensive amp. I have compared this to the Fender Acoustasonic 40 and there is no contest.
I even play my Strat on a few songs in Channel 2 and use a Behringer DI to the PA. It doesnt sound like a Twin Reverb but it is also very acceptable. However, it makes my Martin GPCPA1 sound fantastic! I added a Boss Acoustic pre-amp pedal and the sound is so authentic! Cant beat the price at Guitar Center either.
Do yourself a favor and try it out. It deserves recognition!!!!.

Just received my Loudbox Performer a couple of days ago. Spent 30 min one night dialing it in for my Gibson Hummingbird, then tried it with the full band last night. It sounded great, and was plenty loud for an Americana band with a full kit, bass, electric guitar, keys, and 2-3 vocals.
Previously I’d been running my guitar direct through the PA, and it sounded good. Switching to the Loudbox balanced our live sound better with the acoustic opposite the electric on either side, and it added weight & dimension to my acoustic sound.
It made for a marked improvement in our live sound. I could hear and feel it better, it had more definition, and as a result I got into a groove right away. Originally I’d intended to buy a higher end acoustic amp and tried a couple.
They sounded really nice, but maybe too hifi “nice”. Pretty/slick/etc. What I wanted was an amp that sounded exactly like my Hummingbird but louder. I’d heard a friend play his $4k+ Taylor through a Loudbox live and was impressed with the tone, and when I tried it I was really drawn to the sound.
The Loudbox comes very, very close to replicating the sound of my guitar exactly (after dialing in eq) – most importantly, it stays true to the voice of my guitar. It also has a weight/warmth to it that I really like.
*Btw- I’d been concerned about the covering tearing because there are a lot of reviews noting that. I checked the covering on floor models at my local stores and it was a mess – but I believe Fishman took care of this some time ago.
Not sure exactly when, but the model I received has a more sturdy covering. No issues there.
I was able to purchase this amp at 20% off the regular price here at Musicians Friend! So I want to say thanks to them for such a great price and quick delivery!! I will be a customer again. I have owned multiple types of acoustic amplifiers and powered pa speakers over the years trying to find the perfect solution for my guitars.
Everything from Yamaha, Bose, Beringher, Roland, Marshall, even a Henriksen Bud and others I’m probably forgetting. This amazing amplifier tops them all. I read all the positive reviews before on the entire amp lineup but had purchased one of their acoustic pedals many years ago and didn’t like it so I returned it.
So I was hesitant to buy from Fishman again. I took a leap of faith and also took advantage of the unbeatable price and and beyond pleased that I did. I can sit for hours with my Taylor 324, Takamine, and once I turn down the tweeter my electric guitar has never sounded better.
It’s a perfect size and is light enough for anyone to handle comfortably. All the features and effects work great. If you need an acoustic amp don’t waste your time and money on anything else.
I plan to use this amp for live performances in small venues. So far I have plugged a Martin acoustic guitar with a Seymour Duncan Woody sound hole P/U into this amp, a tele and strat, and a microphone, and everything I plug into it sounds very impressive.
I got this amp because it has the midrange speaker and the Artist doesn’t. They midrange was important to me for vocal production. I am not disappointed so far. I have played professionally since I was 13 years old, I am currently 67 years old.
I don’t remember every being more impressed with an amplifier than I am with this one. I didn’t expect the great sound from my Fender American tele and strat that I get this this amp. This is my first Fishman product.
My brother has the Loudbox Mini and it sounds great, just not enough amp for what I need. Great product!.

I bought my Studio 40 from Better Music just recently, but I was already very familiar with its internals, as I also own its much bigger brother, the Rumble Stage 800. As the name implies, the Studio 40 is best suited to studio work or home practice / small venue use.
In most respects, it’s identical to the Stage 800, except of course that it has much less power, only one 10” speaker (as opposed to two), and it’s missing the external speaker cabinet output of the bigger amp.
(Oh, and it doesn’t come with the MGT-4 footswitch that accompanies the 800, but that’s not really essential. ) Otherwise, the controls are the same, and (most importantly) the display window and inbuilt presets are identical.
In fact, that’s why I bought the 40 — I can tweak presets at home to my heart’s content, back them up to the cloud via the Fender Tone app, then restore them to the 800 at the large venue where I keep the latter.
Much has been written and “YouTubed” about the capabilities of the 40/800 modelling technology, so I don’t intend to repeat that here, except to say that, if you simply want an amp you can plug in, turn on, and play, then this amp is probably overkill.
However, if you want/need the luxury of choosing from multiple amp models, and heaps of effects, and tweaking them all to your heart’s content, you’ll be in heaven. And having said “tweaking”, I’d observe that Fender provides so many well-thought-out presets (100), that most bassists will probably find the sounds they need without doing much (if any) tweaking at all.
The Studio 40 is lightweight (under 9 kgs), yet provides a decent punchy sound — you’re not going to knock down a large building, of course (that’s what the Stage 800 is for!), but it will easily handle home or small venue duties.
Great little amp, built with typical Fender quality and attention to detail. The owner’s manual is good, albeit lengthy (67 pages, not to mention the 13-page Firmware Update Addendum), so settle down for some reading if you buy this one.

Like the rest of the bass players out there I’ve used all of the major brands. From old-school Acoustic Control heads and cabs from the ’70’s, to Ampegs etc etc etc. Well I’ve reached the point where that level of stage volume isn’t needed for what I’m doing now; I shopped around, and despite some of the amazing combos available, I landed on this one.
Actually the guitar player in our band mentioned that he had bought the 50watt version of this. I played through it and was impressed. For me it’s the ideal unit for what I’m doing now – I still play some heavy rock (Mountain, Cream, Cactus, Trower), but when volume is required we of course use the FOH and good monitors for stage support.
Having the onboard direct out is the best as it allows me to go direct into whatever board is being used, whether live or recording. Don’t be fooled by the small size; the size is a real asset in terms of portability.
The head is where it all starts, and the tonal range is wide so you can dial in your sound. In a live situation there’s plenty of lows, highs and depth of tone. Playing in various size venues is no problem – this will carry without going through FOH in churches, smaller bars & clubs (50-100 capacity).
Larger venues or live situations where stage volume is needed for impact or performance, then my personal recommendation is to use this as a personal monitoring device and go through the PA & stage monitor as a direct through the board.
One last thing; the amp sounds as good on 3 as it does on 7. Any more than than 7 and it starts pushing the speaker, and not in a good way. But I’ve had this for several months now, use it gigging and recording regularly and overall am simply satisfied with the purchase.
Like everything, this amp has limitations. You’re not going to get the punch or volume of a high powered rig, and you really shouldn’t be using a combo for something like that. But whether you’re a beginner, novice, or weekend warrior or pro this amp, as well as the rest of this product line, is a tremendous option.
I went to the store to buy the Rumble 500 and I saw the Rumble 800. Spent sometime with it and I ended up buying it. It’s a 400W (800W only with extension cab), a bit higher than the 500W (at 350W), however, with a lot of new features.
(Bluetooth, wifi, pedal switch). There are several cabinets and pedals to mess around. The tone is not quite as good as analog, but I thought a few of them were good enough for me to displace my pedalboard and only use the pedal switch.
(I’ll compromise a bit the tone, but will gain in lighter weight and less preoccupation with noise from the pedal board. ) BUT. and it’s a bit BUT. It worked well for a bit, I played on a couple gigs and everything was alright.
HOWEVER, after a couple weeks it would freeze the electronics of the amp for no reason. the sound stops and the control panel and the foot switch don’t do anything. Even worse, bc of the electronics it takes about 15 seconds for it to start playing again.
Contacted Fender support and they just said: It’s rare (which happened 3 times to me in 5 days) and it’s a normal behavior as it has a motherboard. just restart it. Well, imagine how fun if the amp decides to freeze during a gig.

I’m using this amp at home for practicing with an acoustic-electric guitar. I suppose it could be used for live performance in a small venue but I have other combo amps for that purpose. Closed back design feels solid and well built, and the sound is clean and plenty loud for its compact size.
Before ordering I was skeptical about having no reverb, but found that the chorus effect sounds really good and is fine on its own. There’s nothing comparable for acoustic guitar in this price range that I’m aware of.

O. K. Boys and Girls, I’ll get right to the point. If you look at the input jacks on this combo amp, you’ll see that the only choice for input #2, is a 1/4″ plug. That means that, unless you use a converter to go from XLR to 1/4″, you can’t use a normal (low impedance) mic on input #2.
Input #2 is the one with the EQ section on it. So, if you want to EQ vocals with this unit, you’re out of luck with the on board EQ, unless you buy an external XLR to 1/4″ convertor cable or plug. Then look at the #1, XLR input.
There is no EQ on that channel. You plug your mic into this input and hope for the best. Without EQ you can’t tailor the sound from your mic, with this amplifier’s EQ. You are stuck with whatever your mic produces, and the tonal characteristics of your voice.
So, if you need to roll off some highs, or accentuate them, you can’t do it on this unit with just the XLR input on this amp. You’d have to process your vocals externally to this amp, them bring them into the XLR input on this amp.
It’s either that, or you’d have to get an XLR to 1/4″ convertor and use the input #2. Other than that, Acoustic does a great job with these all-in-one acoustic style amps. I’ve used one for years. They are very quick to setup, have reasonable power for small rooms, and have good tone.
I’d recommend these, especially for the price. Just be aware that the limitations on this particular unit, at least partially lies in the fact that they did not put a dual use XLR/1/4″ jack on channel two.
The old Acoustic AG30 had dual use jacks on both channels. What were they thinking when they designed this unit: no EQ for vocals? What the heck. ?.
I’ve always wanted to try an amp specifically designed for acoustic instruments. I looked at the Acoustic line for a few years here and there, just wasn’t ready to purchase. Very happy with this purchase.
I did experiment a little and played a normal electric guitar with humbuckers; a semi-hollowbody with humbuckers; and my Taylor electric/acoustic through this amp. This amp is voiced for acoustics for sure.
The other guitars didn’t sound awful; but like this amp is marketed; it shines for acoustic instruments. I haven’t played through the mic channel yet, but can’t wait to see what my mandolin sounds like through this! It is a loud 15W! The chorus is usable, not great but nice to have onboard.
I have not tried any pedals through it, and I doubt I will. I bought it for my acoustic and it sounds beautiful through this amp. I also like the way it sits tilted on the floor, it directs the sound right to your ears.
I needed an amp with both XLR and 1/4 inputs that would fit in my locker at college. This is pushed as an amp for acoustic guitars but it sounds fine using my big-body jazz box with Johnny Smith single-coil and also a semi-hollow custom shop guitar with humbuckers.
The EQ applies to both channels, so dial in the voice & then do what you can with your guitar controls. The voice channel seems not as loud as the guitar channel, and the EQ is extremely limited — you can peg the controls in either direction and not hear much difference.
An OK amp and, thanks to the XLR input, almost unmatched at this price point.

Save your pennies and buy this amp or its bigger brother. You will never make a better purchase if you live to be 100 years old. Dont waste your time and money on less amps, like we have in the past.
