16 Best 50 Amp To 30 Amp Adapter (2023 Updated)

Some camp grounds do not offer both 30 and 50 amp service. In the event they only have 50 amp service at particular site, would need this adapter to service my 30 amp RV rig.

I should have got this years ago. It works great and is very easy to pull apart. I bought both a smaller and a larger one to bring along. Differ manufactures, though. It just so happened our campsite just had 50amp and I use 30 on my Class C.

This is a great connector. Unfortunately, it didn’t fit my application, and returning to GearIT was a breeze.

Spent hours debugging generator setup. Traced back to this cable! Not wired correctly. “GND” on 14-50p plug was connected to “Y” on L14-30R receptacle The other contacts were wrongly connected. This is very dangerous! Can’t believe they could screw up such a simple cable! I hope I didn’t damage my transfer switch or other components.

I use this with a 9500 watt generator to run my shop when Edison kills the power. Not only to power the shop with a walk-in freezer. But my well pump, transfer pump and electric water heater.

Does the job and does it well. Very sturdy construction. Should last a lifetime with a minimum of fuss and bother.

I tried three other “Reverse Y” adapters from other companies. None of them worked. This one works great and I love the light to signal proper connection and voltages is also a huge plus. Also love the 5 year warranty on this cable.

It was more expensive but well worth it.

My boat takes two 30 amp lines. I did not realize there are two different 50 amp male connectors. My first encounter with a slip with a 50 amp I am: ok, this is why I bought this thing and. damn! dock had two outward prongs and this has one, did not fit.

Works great as long as the marina pedestal doesn’t have individual GFIs on the 30A circuits you’re plugging into. If they do, they’ll trip one or the other GFI as soon as you plug in the second 30A connector.

Two updated marinas in my area switched to using GFIs and the unit no longer works in those marinas.

Works perfect for my situation. I needed an adapter to go from my camper to the generator and this does the job. I would not hesitate to purchase this one again.

These adapters a solidly built. It will take your generator 4 pin connection and allow a 30amp travel trailer attachment. It only uses one of the hot connections so if your generator is 220 volt, you will get 110 out the other side.

I have several Camco travel trailer electric adapters, they all are solidly built and work great. I have never had a problem with any of them.

Great purchase for the cross country traveler. I recently pulled my 41′ fifth wheel from NC to CA. Long, long drive. But enough about me. I bought this because I had dead batteries to start out my journey and my truck just wouldn’t keep up with charging the fully dead batteries and running the refrigerator.

I didn’t have the luxury of hooking up my trailer for a day before I took off, otherwise dead batteries wouldn’t have been an issue. I actually used this when I stayed overnight at a hotel and Flying J truckstop.

The hotel was nice enough to point me to an exterior outlet close enough to park my fifth wheel. The truckstop actually had shore power (first time I had experienced this) and simply plugged in. I also bought a 100′ extension cord for those hard to reach places (like at the hotel).

Be careful when purchasing the extension cord, the cord must be rated for at least 15 amps (same as the plug) to avoid any issues. I believe this is a must-have for cross country travel and for storage.

My fully charged batteries were able to run my fridge overnight and during the 12+ hours of driving if I did not plug in, but this allows for a backup plan if you can find an outlet. This dogbone also serves as a maintenance charger when the trailer is not in use for any period of time.

I wanted a short adapter for use in the driveway. This adapter converts my 30/50 amp plug to a very short manageable 110V. What I really like about it is the plug connecting to the camper is at a 90 degree angle.

It is not putting a ton of stress on the RV connector. I also purchased a HD 25′ 12 gauge extension cord to plug into the house. The other nice thing is, the color, it’s bright yellow. It is very easy to spot day or night on the camper or laying on the ground.

HOLY COW! This is extremely well made! THICK THICK construction, pliable, great handle on both ends. I hope the weight of the dogbone isn’t too much and leads to wear on the prongs. Other than that, the only thing they could have done to make this better is include a ‘James’ to crawl out of the compartment and go plug it in for me! If you have a 30 rig, you should absolutely have this in your comparment in case there are no 30’s left.

A VERY small insurance price.

The price was so much better than others I had found on line. The product was just what I was looking for as I use a surge protector with our RV and this plug makes a perfect match for keeping the protector out of the weather.

Also I will say that the time frame from ordering it and receiving it was so fast.

This is a heavy duty, high quality adapter that can be used when a Class C 30 Amp cord needs to be adapted for a camp site that only has 50 Amp hookups. Well worth keeping it in the motor home just in case.

This unit supposedly takes a 220v outlet at 25 amps per side (50 amps total) and allows you to tap one side of that 220v connection with your 110v 30 amp three prong connector. Another post suggested I would therefore only get 25amps and, that would NOT be enough to run my 13.

5 camper AC unit. In my case that was incorrect. Not only could I run my 13. 5 AC, I also ran my my microwave at the same time without issue. Perhaps this particular unit is wired better??? All I know for sure is that this model worked very well for my wife and I camping for 5 consecutive days.

This dogbone is perfect for connecting a 30 Amp RV Power Cord into a 50 Amp receptacle. The profile is just right for connecting it next to the 30 Amp to 15 Amp dogbone also sold by this brand. That gives you the ability to get the full 30 amps on your main and another ( 20 amp circuit) in a campground that does not have a 20 amp plug-in in the power box.

I also like that the 30 amp end lights up when the power is turned on. That way you don’t have an accident. Not sure how I camped for 15 years without one of these!.

This is a high quality 50Amp Male to 30Amp female adapter cable that is typical in design. It will allow one to connect their 30Amp 115V RV to a 50Amp only campsite. The description of the product was confusing, and I only selected it because the other available adapters had pictures and matching description, and were not for my purpose; like Sherlock Holmes I assumed correctly that what was left in the product lineup was what I was looking for.

Good quality and price. Works well and very well constructed. I am quite happy.

For the money, this is a good value. Well built unit. My only suggestion to the manufacturer is make the plastic grab piece larger. In this case the 30amp yellow piece could be larger making it more sturdy when you plug it in.

But otherwise a nice unit.

Bought this to adapt an EV car charger to a typical 30amp dryer socket. The charger has a 50amp plug. Seemed to adapt between the 30amp socket and the 40amp charger (with the 50amp plug) just fine. I set the charger to have a max draw of 30amps at the time, to avoid any potential problems.

When a certified electrician came around, to wire in a dedicated 50amp circuit for the EV charger, he was not happy with the adapter using 10 gauge wire, however. At least not coupled to the 50 foot extention cord using the same 10 gauge wire.

According to him, 10 gauge is only OK for intermittent periods of 30 amp draw. Dryers apparently rarely run up to 30 amps, and when they do it is for shorted periods. The EV charger, however, can easily go up to the full 30 amps (after I had limited it from a potential 40amp draw in the EV configuration), for many continuous hours.

So it seemed wise to not go this path and to use 8 gauge wire for my application.

I ordered this 50/30 adapter and the Fantastic pop on screen. The 50/30 adapter was delivered but haven’t seen or heard anything about the pop on screen yet!! That screen was the most important of the two items I ordered.

The receipt in the shipping box had adapter 50/30of pg highlighted in green but Pop’N Lock White was circled in blue pen and has not been delivered yet!!.

I used it for the first time and loved it! I didn’t have to drag the whole big cord out. The only thing I didn’t care for is that the cord points down toward the bumper instead of to the side.

It does just what its supposed to . Made of quality material . Good price.

The adapter is very well made and easy to plug into and remove from the outlets. I would recommend this product.

This plug is awesome! Very easy to connect to the 50 amp cord and easy to remove when finished. Has a pull tap to make removal easy. Sturdy construction. Easy to store.

I have not been able to use it yet but I can tell you it did ship very fast. Seems to be a good quality product. Can not wait to use it once we get our new RV.

I live in Houston and just bought a Champion 3400 dual fuel generator for power emergencies; we’ve lost power for up to a week following Hurricanes Ike and Harvey and even some serious tropical storms.

I love my new generator, but Champion dedicates one of the sockets supplying half the power for a direct RV connection. That’s all well and good, but I don’t own an RV and want to take advantage of ALL my generator’s power output goodness.

The Camco PowerGrip Adapter plugs right into the RV outlet to provide a nice, firm standard socket to power my refrigerator or microwave or whatever else I need. Heck, the color even matches my generator! It’s a big, solid piece of hard rubber that didn’t even get warm (I checked) when I used my 12 amp, 1440 watt electric lawnmower to mow the yard.

I don’t know why these things drop the amperage output from 30 to 15 amps, but all of them do it. Anyway, a big, fat five stars for the Camco PowerGrip Adaper!.
