It’s really about to happen. The man who said he never wanted to marry again is about to head to the alter. George Clooney and his fiancée, Amal Alamuddin, have secured their marriage license. It looks like the perpetual bachelor is definitely off the market.

Back in 1989, Clooney married actress, Talia Balsam, but they divorced in 1993. After that, he vowed never to remarry but dated heavily over the years. He had a five-year relationship with British model, Lisa Snowdon, beginning in 2000, dated reality television personality, Sarah Larson, from 2007-2008, sparked marriage rumors with Italian actress, Elisabetta Canalis, during their two-year stint (2009-2011) and then moved on to WWE Diva, Stacy Keibler, whom he dated from 2011-2013. Over the years, he’s also been connected with Ginger Lynn Allen, Kelly Preston, Renee Zellweger, Krista Allen and even French reality television star, Celine Balitran.

In 2006, when he was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive, he said:  “Marriage? Who knows? I’ve been married. It’s not something I’m looking out for. Things could always change, but it’s not a consideration right now. The truth is I’m really happy. The things that are a drag in my life are so outweighed by the things that are great. I have families that I spend my days with, and friends I spend my days with, and people I care very much about. I get to do what almost no one gets to do. My life’s really good.”

Just earlier this year, in January 2014, Clooney told Esquire: “I haven’t had aspirations in that way, ever. I was married in 1989. I wasn’t very good at it. I was quoted as saying I’ll never get married again pretty much right after I got divorced and then I’ve never talked about it since.”

For this reason, it’s a huge deal that he is ready to commit, wholeheartedly, to 36-year-old British-Lebanese human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin. The pair became engaged in April 2014 and obtained their marriage license in London this week. As per regulations in the United Kingdom, a notice has been posted publicly outside Chelsea Old Town Hall announcing the pair’s intention to marry.

According to the document, the pair plan to have their wedding in Italy. This is no surprise since 53-year-old Clooney owns a villa in Lake Como and the couple have spent a lot of time together there.

All the best to the happy couple and, although what they choose is entirely up to them, Clooney fans are probably hoping to see some babies in his future.
