Our hands often give away our age before our faces do: the skin on our hands is thinner, and as we age, it tends to become wrinkly and crepe-like, with sun and liver spots to boot. Add the cold and dryness of the approaching fall and winter into the mix, and our poor hands really take a beating.  Here are three easy, at-home treatments that promise to give your hands the pampering they so deserve.

Exfoliating Oatmeal Hand Scrub

You’re likely to have all the ingredients for this exfoliating scrub on hand. Oatmeal soothes – making this hand scrub ideal for sensitive skin – while the honey and olive oil moisturize.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of ground rolled oats
  • ½ cup of honey
  • ½ cup of olive oil

Directions:

Mix the ingredients then apply to your hands and massage: the oatmeal will work as an exfoliator while the honey and olive oil refresh and revitalize.  Rinse and apply moisturizer to maintain the softness.

Avocado Hand Mask

Avocado is a natural emollient thanks to its healthy fat content. This hand mask will leave your hands soft and moisturized.

Ingredients:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 TBS olive oil

Directions:

Blend all ingredients together in a food processor or simply mash and stir. Apply to your hands and wrap in plastic bags or wrap. Wait 15 minutes. Rinse. Follow up with an extra rich moisturizer.

Lemon Sugar Scrub

Lemon and sugar work together to exfoliate your skin, while the olive oil locks in moisture.

Ingredients:

  • 3 TBS sugar
  • 3 TBS olive oil
  • Juice of half a lemon

Directions:

Blend all ingredients then rub vigorously onto your hands for at least five minutes. Rinse and follow up with a generous application of hand moisturizer.
