Disney World is constantly expanding and evolving. Every year new attractions are added, while old ones fade away or are completely transformed. New characters arrive on the scene, too, bringing even more happiness into the magical world of Disney. And through it all, rapidly evolving technology is making the park experience more enriching and informative. Here’s what’s new at Disney World for spring 2016!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Villain Kylo Ren Joins Darth Vadar at Hollywood Studios

If you have a Star Wars fan on your hands, you’ll want to make a beeline to Hollywood Studios, where unique experiences such as Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple and Star Wars Launch Bay attract everyone from Chewbacca to Yoda. This spring, Kylo Ren, star of the latest Star Wars sage episode, steps onto the bridge of his First Order Star Destroyer, making yet another villain to watch out for as you enjoy a galaxy of family fun. It won’t be long before the entire cast of out-of-this-world characters find their new home at the Star Wars-themed land, now under construction.

Lion Guard Adventure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Your little explorers can become honorary members of the Lion Guard in a new Disney’s Animal Kingdom adventure inspired by Disney Junior’s new animated series “The Lion Guard.” Kids will set off an self-guided adventure through the park in search of Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala, and his pals. Once all five characters (in the form of statues) are discovered, head to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, where cast members will induct participants into the Lion Guard with a special pledge, fun activities, and a Lion Guard Button identifying them as honorary members. To participate, pick up a “Lion Guard Adventure Map,” available in select merchandise locations, upon entering the park.

My Storybook Princess Moment

If your little one dreams of being a princess, now is her chance to receive an official princess proclamation at a character greeting or Princess dine location at Walt Disney World or Disneyland. “My Storybook Moment-Princess” gives kids the chance to become actual Disney royalty through a new gifting experience at Disney Floral & Gifts. Each participant will receive special royal treasures and a personalized proclamation: present your proclamation to your fave fairy tale princess for an official declaration. To learn more, check out My WDW Storybook Moment-Princess (407-WDW-GIFT). You can also opt to celebrate a My Storybook Moment with other beloved characters and themes, including Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, Sheriff Woody and many more.

Fabulous New Dining Options

If you’re visiting the park this spring, don’t miss the fun dining options that have debuted in recent months. Head to the Jungle Skipper Canteen restaurant at Magic Kingdom Park, where Jungle Cruise riverboat captains serve up Asian, South American, and African cuisine. The Ganachery candy shop at Disney Springs specializes in creamy chocolate truffles, handcrafted onsite by a chocolatier. Tiffins at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will offer a menu inspired by the exotic destinations that Disney Imagineers visited when dreaming up the park.

Frozen Ever After

Finally Frozen fans will be able to experience the movie in all its icy glory at Frozen Ever After, a new Frozen-inspired attraction set to open in Epcot’s World Showcase this later this spring. Guests will be able to escape the hot Florida sun and travel to Elsa’s Ice Palace and the frozen kingdom of Arendelle. Additionally, you’ll be able to find Anna and Elsa at the new Frozen Character Greeting Location at Epcot, to be revealed later this spring.
