These days there seems to be an app or gadget for nearly every aspect of life. Yet, it’s ironic that having to sift through the sheer amount of technology available to make our lives better, can sometimes be overwhelming and stress us out. To make it a little easier, we’ve done the research for you. With these gadgets and apps you can relax and enhance your mind, sight, and senses.

iCouch CBT

For mental mood monitoring and mini therapy sessions, I like the iCouch CBT. This iPhone app offers a sort of do-it-yourself cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) that leads you one step at a time through transforming negative thoughts into positive ones. There’s even the option for a nominal extra cost to transmit your personal data to a licensed psychologist who evaluates you and replies with suggestions for personal growth. $1.99

Black Diamond Sprinter LED Headlamp

The Black Diamond Sprinter LED headlamp makes night vision a reality but also provides the added benefit of more safety for you. The sporty elastic headband is equipped with steady white lights in front, and emits red flashing lights in the back. Both lights are powered by a single lithium polymer battery that lasts up to five hours and can be recharged. This works similar to auto headlights and tail lights, making it possible for you to see in the dark when you are walking, running, or cycling – as well as alerting others around you of your presence to avoid a collision. $69.95

Mini Microscope for the iPhone

The Mini Microscope for the iPhone by Discovery Channel helps you to magnify an object or text up to 60x. This works in tandem with your smart phone’s photo lens and comes with some cool features such as LED lighting to examine things closely – such as watermarks on paper money or tiny insects. $39.95

PureBoom Premium In-Ear Headset

For the ears there is the PureGear PureBoom Premium In-Ear Headset that marries beautiful ear bud modern design with sophisticated technology to produce a crisp and clear quality listening experience. This includes a high-grade inline microphone for hands-free use, too. $49.99

Etre Touchy Gloves

Protect your hands from the cold and still use your mobile device on the run with the Etre Touchy Gloves. These are gloves that have openings at the fingertips for the thumb and index finger so you can tap and swipe your touch screen device unobstructed. You can also easily use a camera and put on makeup without removing these gloves when the air is chilly. This is a UK firm, but they ship worldwide. Starting at $55.64.

Striiv Belt Clip Bundle

For the feet, and to mentally motivate you to be more physically active, there is the Striiv Belt Clip Bundle. This is a sophisticated pedometer-like device that can be a personal trainer that you carry in your pocket. It runs on Windows 7 and Macintosh OS X v. 10.5 with USB connectivity and has a free companion application that you can download. Without a computer you can also use this as a stand-alone gadget to count the number of steps you’ve walked or ran. The best part is there’s a socially responsible component to this product, too. When you track your movement and report your results via your USB hook-up to Striiv they’ll fund charities at no cost to you. $99

These and other cutting edge technology can only enhance the quality and enjoyment of our own lives as well as that of loved ones.
