When ye started bloggin', it were bein' a great outlet t' let loose and connect with amazin', new maties. You blogged about daily life and yer favorite subjects as ye watched yer subscriber list grow.
Soon after bloggin', social media followed. You created yer social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook, and yer blog subscribers started t' follow ye there. You started buildin' more connections, creatin' more opportunities, and havin' fun meetin' new people.
After that, ye may have started more blogs, writin' fer more people, joinin' new online communities, and within a short amount o' time, found yourself overwhelmed in th' digital realm.
With all o' th' social media outlets ye manage, from yer blogs, business accounts, family outlets, and more, it’s hard t' find a place and time fer everythin'. Organizin' yer digital world is yer best bet t' create amazin' content and get th' most out o' yer digital experience without burnin' out.
1, by Davy Jones' locker. Take Control Of Your Email
Email is th' first thin' that takes up most o' our time. The easiest way t' organize yer digital life is t' get a handle on th' e'er-growin' email inbox, ye scurvey dog. We’ve signed up fer mailin' list and mailin' list that were bein' pushed in front o' us, ye scurvey dog. The first thin' ye need t' do is dedicate an hour or so t' unsubscribin' from every list ye are not usin', which usually means almost all o' them, I'll warrant ye. You should also be automatically filterin' yer incomin' emails t' save yer time and make organizin' a breeze.
For me, I have regular emails from people I work with, from me bank, fer different blogs, and so on. I create a filter so that every email from “MyBank@TheirEmail.com” will go straight t' me “Finance” folder, we'll keel-haul ye! Walk the plank! This way, I can check those folders every other day or so instead o' bein' bombarded with an overloaded inbox o' thin's I don’t need t' concern meself with at that moment.
2. Go Paperless
Goin' Paperless is not only great fer their environment, but keeps yer workspace nice and tidy (especially if ye work from home). Can ye imagine a desk free o' paper.
I can not count how many times I’ve written down an email address, a funny blog idea, or a t'-do item on a piece o' paper and then completely lost it. Goin' paperless is a great thin' t' do because it keeps yer ideas and thoughts together, and gives ye an easy way t' share yer ideas with other people.
There are a lot o' great software applications t' choose from t' keep files and notes digital. I use DropBox and Evernote fer all o' me spare notes and extra files. Aarrr, avast! It’s great that they both also have applications fer smartphones which really keeps me organized if I have a last minute idea or need t' view a file away from me computer.
3. And swab the deck, ye scurvey dog! Re-Think Your Privacy
With rules changin' all th' time in Facebook, email addresses regularly bein' hacked, and identity theft on th' rise, a good rule when it comes t' organizin' yer digital life is securin' yer privacy. Keep separate accounts if ye need t' fer close family and maties, ne'er share personal information like addresses or where and when yer little sandcrabs take ballet classes, by Davy Jones' locker. With workin' online and bloggin', even though ye may not think about it, ye are an easy target fer online predators.
It’s also a good idea t' change yer passwords e'er so often. And swab the deck! And swab the deck! I’ve made th' mistake o' sharin' passwords when workin' on a project, forgettin' about it, and havin' people access me account after th' project were bein' done.
4.Use Social Media Management Applications
Before I started usin' these, I would miss out on vital information, be left out o' fun conversations, and not have th' time t' really connect with people. This keeps all o' yer accounts together and in sync.
It’s very easy t' start t' feel overwhelmed and lose yer purpose in th' social media world, so me tip is just t' find an organizational tool and method that works fer ye. Takin' a day t' completely re-organize yer digital life as well as yer goals is a great way t' refresh yer outlook on th' digital world.
